Friday night we stayed in, babysat for our friends who were off to see “Blue Rodeo”. Hannah slept over aka I hit the couch & she takes my spot with “Auntie” Kim on the king size bed. The leftover chicken fingers are a pretty good deal though. “Uncle” Chris doesn’t mind!
As for the rest of Saturday not much happened. Kim & I on the couch we rented the movie “War Dogs” based on a true story, a rated R story. Lots of cocaine, weapons, swearing, & illegal smuggling. Good/interesting movie but not for kids.
Today is shaping up to be a lazy day on the couch again.
When my Grandmother lost her battle with breast cancer on December 5th 1999, I was in my 3rd semester of Engineering at the U of R. I was really lost at the time, totally missed a final on purpose. I would drive 40 minutes away to Moose Jaw & blast their 3rd album, There is Nothing Left to Lose, which was released that November, all the way & back.
After her memorial the rest of my aunts, uncles, & cousins came to my parent’s house. I didn’t know how to react. I went to my room in the basement, put on headphones & blasted “I Mother Earth” the album “Blue Green Orange”. That was the first big loss to me. I was a mess at the time.
I guess all of this means that I mourn a death, tragedy by listening to music & other people deal with things their own way. Whatever helps you in a rough situation & doesn’t bother anyone else.
As for Friday’s “Depression” post, well it can be any type of mental illness. Talk to someone about it. I can think of 8 or 9 people including myself that struggle with a mental illness. Don’t be afraid or feel that no one will understand. Don’t be afraid of taking whatever type of medication a doctor says you should try. There are millions of people that will listen to you. Please remember you’re not alone and you will likely need help from others, don’t feel embarrassed about asking for help.
10 best live acts in hard rock or metal.
I’m gonna go with the acts I’ve seen. The other’s I haven’t seen or have no desire to see.
I saw Queen a couple of years ago with Adam Lambert singing for them. I’ve never seen “Iron Maiden” live but I hope to change that one day.
Help Alter Bridge create the set list for an upcoming show if you’re going to see them?
I’d throw this into every set on the tour.
Weekend music; Judah & the Lion, Boston, Diemonds, The Damned Things, Metallica, & Megadeth.
^^ This what they played on Conan. WAY better live on TV. On the album it’s my least favourite song.
Dave Grohl turned 48 years old on Saturday!
Katy Perry produced a commercial against hate! I’m not a fan of her music, but this commercial is very well done!
Foo Fighters’ radio interview.
Live footage of Metallica.
10 things Rolling Stone magazine learned in 2014 about Dave Grohl.
66 hard rock or metal guitarists of all time. They couldn’t at least round it up to 70, 100, or down to 50? 66 seems like an odd number number to stop at?????
Who I think is the most under rated guy on the list is…………..John Frusiante. Sounds like it is easy, I couldn’t play it!
