I fell asleep to “The Beaches” their debut full length album “The Late Show”, followed by “Halestorm” the new album “Vicious”

I exercised to “Dream Theater” their self-titled album from 2009

The wheelchair is ordered.  There was a different make of the 12 pound chair, & that’s what has been ordered.  The foot rest is there but it’s angled so I can use it or flip it vertical under my seat & still propel with my feet.  I’ll use the foot rest, just not in the house, it really gets in the way when I’m in the kitchen.

Sunday ended with a BANG!  I made my vegetable juice & baked some fish, then I went to see comedian Jim Jefferies!  Absolutely HILARIOUS!  Big surprise for me is when Dale, friend of the family, pulled a VIP pass from his pocket for me as we were waiting for the doors to open.  We all (5) met & got a photo with the comedian.  Good times!  Came home with the VIP pass around my neck & Kim calmly asks “Where did you get that?”  I told her how it went down.

LOTS OF LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can’t do a week of just cardio?  The week works out that I’ll be walking with my walker 3 evenings this week.  I know I have to keep up with some of my other exercises as well.  If I stop it becomes much more difficult to achieve my goals!

I will say that practicing to walk without falling is the most tiring/frustrating thing to do.  For not having done much walking at all, it’s been OK thus far.

Finger Eleven play “Awake & Dreaming” acoustically.  From their first album “Tip”

New ‘Into Eternity’ album to be released on Friday!!!!!  Not on any streaming site or iTunes.  $20 through email for a CD intoeternityCD@gmail.com or download $15 on www.bandcamp.com

Oh Shark Week!  I’ll miss you, see you next year!  I’m counting the days already!

Yes, I was in a cover band to start learning how it felt to play live on stage & just improve as much as possible on everything.  Doing cover songs is a love/hate thing for me.  On the one hand, someone else wrote it & now a different artist is going to try & make it better?  Another way to look at it is “Cool, this is what likely inspired other artists”!  Male or Female it doesn’t matter as long as it’s done well & means something to whoever is covering a song.

New “Greta Van Fleet” in late August

When Robert Plant approves, who cares what they sound like?

The Toronto Blue Jays had a closed door players meeting Monday after a horrific game in Oakland.  A lot of talk about coming to the ball park, doing your job although they’re not making the playoffs, etc.  The short-stop who hasn’t touched the field since July 2017 due to injury, but still making $20,000,000 this year decided to pipe up in the meeting.  He’s 32 or 33 years old & will continue to make $20,000,000 a year until the end of the 2020 season.  If I was a player in that room, whatever he had to say would go in one ear & out the other.  He wasn’t even with the team until Monday??  Why would I listen to someone who hasn’t been with the team in a year?????!!!!  Even with him playing the wins & losses would likely be very similar.

U2

Most people know who U2 is.  Those that know of the band either highly despise, or really like them.  I loved U2 in the late ‘80s & early ‘90s.  Now I listen to them on the odd occasion or if Brewster & I are in the vehicle, while U2 is on the radio, I turn it up.  Yes, I agree, the “Songs of Innocence” free album to iTunes users was terrible, however the follow up “Songs of Experience” was a very good blend of older U2 while being more modern at the same time.  Everybody knows the “Joshua Tree” album, so I’m not going to review that one.  I’ve rarely, if ever, heard thoughts on one of my favourite albums “Achtung Baby”, released in 1991.  This album or “The Joshua Tree” are both fantastic yet different. “Achtung Baby” was full of studio/production trickery, but still good.

Here are 2 album tracks I’m a BIG fan of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I own, on CD, every U2 album from the album “Boy” released in 1980 all the way to “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb” released in 2005.  I think they released 2 after that, which I don’t own at all.  I have the album they released for free & bought it’s follow up “Songs of Experience” which, like I said, is a much better mix of new & old U2.

I fell asleep to “Trivium” the album “Ascendancy”

I exercised to “Better Than Ezra” the album “Deluxe”

What the heck is this?  “Alexa, I’m too lazy to pull my cell phone out of my pocket to do anything, so here’s 6 things I need you to do for me.”  A few weeks back I saw a news report regarding Alexa/Echo “Turn on my TV, order me a pizza, etc.”

So were all just going to get fat & rely on robots to do everything for us?  I saw a story on one of the late night talk shows I watch about a sex robot.  It has different settings to put it to, & one is “kill”.  $15,000 to have a robot kill you?  If I worked as a police officer & went to that call, I’d laugh hysterically!  “This person paid $15,000 to have a robot kill them”!  Hahahahahahaha!

I don’t have a cell phone or any other type of mobile device as a personal choice.  There was a mother complaining about the ban on cell phones at live concerts.  “What if my babysitter is having a rough time with my kid?”  I replied “What did people do before cell phones if they went out?”  Did everybody stay home to watch the kids?

Cell phones, desktop computers, mobile devices, big TVs, email, & social media.  I’m good with that!  We have 2 TVs, I have a computer, Kim has a cell phone, computer, & an iPad.  That’s fine with me.  All of this is fine with me as long as it doesn’t affect me.  Alexa?  I’m not getting that for as long as possible, just like a cell phone or a mobile device.  Didn’t grow up with any of these gadgets & there’s a lot of them I don’t need.  “How do you live without a cell phone?”  Easily I have a landline cordless phone & it makes phone CALLS.  “How do you remember what you have to do on a certain day?”  I have paper & a pen to write stuff down!  I don’t need a ton of this stuff, & I just don’t want it.  If you do, that’s OK with me.

I don’t need a phone with me, why?  I’m always with someone if I’m out, they have a cell phone.  Me having one would be redundant.  All I ask is this.  If you’re at a concert, using your cell phone, please consider that we all paid a similar price to be there, & not all of us want to watch it through your 6” cell phone screen.

I saw “Big Wreck” in February.  Before anyone came on stage there was an announcement over the P.A.  “Please turn off any recording device or cell phone during the show”.  It was enforced by security as well!  All I could think was “YES!”

How could America stop Russia from meddling with the mid-term election?  Paper ballots.

I MOTHER EARTH

I really wasn’t into “grunge” right away, Nirvana’s “Nevermind” came out in ’91, I was 11 at the time & I wasn’t raised on any type of rock other than “Dire Straits” from dad.  I remember way back when in ’96 that members of U2 & Tool were spotted at their shows in Ontario.  I saw them twice in the ‘90s.  Once in ’96 in Saskatoon & once in Regina.  1996 was the release of their 2nd album “Scenery & Fish”.  My family & Jan Wagner from high school all piled into our car & stayed in a hotel overnight.  Mitch really wanted to go to the show but wasn’t allowed to for some reason?  Jan & I went to the show at the hockey arena in Saskatoon.  Mitch & I both loved/love that album.  He was ticked that he couldn’t come to the show.

They released 4 albums in total.  The first 2 with a singer named “Edwin” & 2 more with a singer named “Bryan Byrne”.  Bryan’s voice seems to work well with the first 2 albums as well as the 2 other ones.  I’ve never heard Edwin even attempt the 2 newer albums.  They broke up shortly after the 4th album “The Quicksilver Meat Dream”, 1 video/single from that album & no tour as far as I know.  Edwin is back & they tour across Canada fairly often & they’ve released 3 singles since getting together.  I still LOVE this band!  I’m guessing it’s because of the weird stuff like a percussionist with a drummer & slap guitar I’ve never heard before, in some of their songs.  Here’s 2 songs from each album of theirs….

New singer “Bryan Byrne” from here on.

Really this is slap guitar!!!  LITTLE LANGUAGE!!!!!!

Yes, I’ve preordered Myles Kennedy’s solo album release on Friday (Alter Bridge singer).  I’ve heard it’s all acoustic.  He had an album of hard rock stuff that he scrapped in 2016 & made this acoustic album instead.

http://loudwire.com/myles-kennedy-year-of-the-tiger-exclusive-acoustic-performance/

“Year of the Tiger” was 1974, the year his father passed away.

“Halestorm’s” Facebook page says March 8th, 2018.  That must be the preorder date for what I hope is a new album?

Inside a Foo Fighters’ rehearsal!!  Van Halen’s “Jump” meets John Lennon’s “Imagine”!

A photo of Tool in the studio proves they’re in the studio?  When was the photo taken?  I don’t believe a single word or photo coming from anyone associated with Tool.

http://loudwire.com/tool-in-studio/

The Toronto Blue Jays did it finally.  I don’t know him personally & I have nothing against him personally.  They’ve finally sent outfielder Ezekiel Carrera to the minor leagues.  He knew how to bunt, hit for contact, & was fast.  Unfortunately he never learned which base to throw to from the outfield.  I hope he learns what to do properly & that he has a bright future.  Now there are only 5 players fighting to play Left Field for the Jays, it will be mentor, Curtis Granderson age 37,  platooned with one of the remaining 5 players.

YES, YES, YES!!!  Every year until the gun laws are changed!!!!!!

https://www.local10.com/news/parkland-school-shooting/boycott-spring-break-until-florida-enacts-new-gun-laws-stoneman-douglas-survivor-says?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=snd&utm_content=wplg10

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why does anybody but the military need a semi-automatic or automatic weapon?  We have guns in Canada, however we also have stricter gun laws.  You don’t need any type of automatic or semi-automatic gun to go hunting.  If a criminal doesn’t own an automatic or semi-automatic gun, why does anyone else need it for “protection”?

The Florida high school shooting happened & one kid saved many lives because he knew that this might happen.  Think about that for a minute please?

Why would anyone go to work or school thinking “Hey, I might get shot today?”  I never experienced that!  What was Trump’s big idea?  More guns are needed for the teachers to learn how to use it well & protect their students.  I’m far beyond the point of smacking any NRA member or any politician endorsing guns upside the head & asking them “Are you *&%$# stupid?  Do you need a few more slaps upside the head to get your gun loving head out of the clouds?  I can do this all day, I have nowhere to rush off to……litteraly.”

American politicians won’t listen to adults or kids, just the NRA since they pay the government so they can continue this ridiculous behavior.  What do they need from everybody else?  Maybe a 500,000 signed petition to have more gun control?  $1.00 more than the NRA gives to the government?

They can still own a gun, most people just want a bit more gun control!  This might actually change something this time.  The kids are standing their ground.  As an outsider in Canada watching this I’m incredibly proud of them & their demand for change.  Especially with many companies severing & distancing themselves from the NRA.  MEC is a great outdoors store.  We need to stop them from selling automatic & semi-automatic guns.  I’m guessing there are more stores in Canada that sell them, but that’s the one I saw on the news last night.

This was going to be about something totally different, then I saw reports about the shooting in Florida.

I hated “heavy” music for a long time.  I think I was 12 my mother & I went to Costco & she bought me U2’s album “The Joshua Tree”.  I pretty much had that album on repeat for a few weeks.  My mother has never been a fan of “U2”.  Of course U2 became my favourite band.  BMG & Columbia House became my way of acquiring the rest of U2’s catalogue.  12 CDs for $0.01 & 3 CDs at a normal price?  I’d fulfill my obligation to one company & switch to the other, multiple times.  I bought U2 CDs from the beginning of their catalogue all the way to the album “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb” released in 2004.

That’s 16 albums including 2 double albums of their hit songs & unreleased songs.  I still listen to them & their new album “Songs of Experience” is very good, if you’re a U2 fan.  If not, don’t bother.

THE NEW ALBUM, “Songs of Experience”

I love documentaries about bands!  Stone Temple Pilots doc!  WOO HOO.  I think I heard that the Queen/Freddie Mercury documentary is done filming also?

I fell asleep to “U2” the album “Songs of Experience”

I exercised to “Pink” the album “Beautiful Trauma”

Monday I only did 3 out of 6 exercises, pushups, crunches, & squats.  Tuesday was my birthday aka I did nothing!  On Monday I was still recovering from Saturday.  No hangover, just stayed up too late.  Usually any time after 11:00 pm, is a game of Russian roulette for me.  Everyone left by 11:00 pm, but I stayed up until 12:20 am or so & wrote most of this!

I guess I’m old now & not as cool anymore.  I’m 38 & still feel (in my mind) like I’m 20.  I really don’t miss doing the jobs I did in my teens.  Especially being a “banquet porter” at a hotel.  Longest shift I ever worked was there 14 hours long.  That was a difficult job, strength wise.  All of those weddings, Christmas parties, ethnic nights, meetings, dances, etc.  That’s why I got so tired of hearing “one hit wonders” from the 90s.  Most nights there would be some event & weekends were a guaranty there would be at least 3.  Bartending, serving food, cleaning up & setting up meeting rooms for the next day, putting a banquet room together, all of that I did for far too long 16-20 years of age I’m guessing.  I already had to wear a tuxedo shirt & a bowtie for high school band & choir at school & then at work that night………….by the way, I REALLY don’t like wearing dress clothes.

You’ve probably never thought of who put 500 round tables in here for your supper & this dance floor for afterwards.  I never thought about it either, but it was a team of likely 20 people, & I was one of them.  I’d spend an evening shift going up & down the back hallway & heard this kind of stuff on repeat……..

How many times have you heard the “Macarena”?  Great multiply that by 50 & welcome to my life as a teenager!

I would hear those songs 5 times minimum on a Friday or Saturday night at work.  Then go home & watch “Much Music” & turn it off immediately if they were playing one of those songs.  I can tolerate them, but after the 3rd time it just became ridiculous!

I tried really hard to watch “The Grammy Awards” but it was mostly me thinking “Who’s that?  Why is this the cool thing?  Man, I don’t get the attraction to this music, it’s mostly disposable candy music I’ll forget tomorrow.”

Thank goodness for “Bruno Mars”, “Sting” & “U2”.  If you we’re hoping to see the rock & metal categories, they weren’t aired on the TV broadcast.  Foo Fighters won for best rock song & Mastodon won for best metal performance.

Bruno Mars may sample stuff, but he’s always entertaining!

I think this all points to the fact that I’m not all that hip to what the cool kids are listening to, & that I suddenly became old.

I didn’t see the last 15 minutes of “The Grammy Awards” & I’m pretty sure I didn’t need or want to.  Congratulations to those who were nominated & those who won.  I applaud you’re hard work, I’m just not your demographic for most of you.

Every front man/front woman wants to be Freddie Mercury on stage, but they’re not.  They’re themselves & fans just want honesty, so it works out for everyone.  I wasn’t in an extremely successful band or even a moderately successful band.  I figured, “They paid $5 to see us play, might as well do the best I can!”  If anybody saw us whether it was a free benefit show or if it was a $15 ticket to a Cabaret, they’d better enjoy their evening.

http://loudwire.com/top-hard-rock-metal-frontmen-of-all-time/

Are you a “Led Zeppelin” fan?  Have you bought the “Greta Van Fleet” album “From the Fires”?  It’s 8 songs that you could easily put on any “Led Zeppelin” album with upbeat tempos.

I made the mistake of watching some of the “State of the Union” speech last night, & I almost……

It doesn’t matter how many beer you have “Tom Sawyer” is one of the 3 radio hits by Rush that has never been enjoyable for me!

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Should the Blue Jays have tried harder to get Christian Yelich?  Try?  Who says they went that far?  Anything not regarding Vladimir Guerrero Jr. should have been seriously considered.  The GM & the manager of baseball operations were told not to “blow up” the core players.  So I guess it’s the owner of Roger’s communications who really wants to irk the fans.  So far this has been an absolutely TERRIBLE off season!

http://www.sportsnet.ca/590/sportsnet-hot-stove/blue-jays-tried-harder-get-christian-yelich/

If you’re not a diehard fan of the “Toronto Blue Jays” at this point I’d ask that you please avert your eyes.  This season could be worse than last year.  If you choose to watch you’ll likely be watching mostly old struggling players among a few minor league players to fill other spots.

We didn’t do much Friday evening.  Kim was pretty tired after work.  We ended up sitting on the couch & watching whatever was on our DVR.  We also watched a show on Netflix called “The Toys that Made us” for anyone born in the 1980s I recommend it.  4 episodes, each an hour long.    The 1st is how/why “Star Wars” toys were made.  2nd episode was Barbie.  3rd was all about “He-Man”/“Masters of the Universe” & the 4th was all about “G.I. Joe”.  Cool documentary!

Between Friday evening & Saturday morning, Kim went shopping for dress clothes.  She found nothing at the high end stores.  After being home for a bit she went to “Winners” & finally found some cheap pieces to add to her work clothes.

She went out to a delayed department Christmas party.  I was home with Brewster.  She didn’t know if the house of one of her co-workers was wheelchair accessible.

Fair enough I’m not big on office parties anyways.  I’m still not a fan of meeting people for the first time in a wheelchair with an iPatch.  Which meant I can watch a stupid movie that Kim has declared never to be played in her presence!  I’d have had a rum & coke but I’m on antibiotics.  No alcohol for this guy!

I figured if she doesn’t like some of my movies & most of my music, I’ll double down on it.  So I watched a documentary on metal…..

Today is our day to get ready for the week aka Kim’s Wonder Woman & I do what I’m told which is typically stay out of here way.  I’ll cook my fish for the week & make my vegetable juice.

I can finally see a difference in my arms.  Even Kim can see a difference, so I’m not dreaming!

If we had the cash I’d say “Kim, where do you want to go?”  After getting our passports again.  Then I’d say “Fair enough, we’re spending one day in a suite in Toronto to watch a regular season Blue Jays game.”  She’ll pick some place hot I’m guessing & I really don’t like the heat.  Someday I’ll make it to Toronto to see a Blue Jay game.

Why not stay here?  Our suite hit +26C on Friday & Saturday, that’s great for 5-10 minutes, but from 10:00 am on is WAAAAYYYY too much for me.  I can’t wait for the summer, so I can stay inside & blast the air conditioning!  I wonder what temperature we’ll get today?

HAHAHAHA!  I love “This is Spinal Tap” a rockumentary/mockumentary!!!!!!!

https://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/spinal-tap-bassist-derek-smalls-returns-with-all-star-solo-lp-w515516

I find very humorous that people go to see a comic book or sci-fi movie then trash it all over www.youtube.com saying that it wasn’t logical.  If you’re going to see a work of fiction or science fiction you need to leave logic at the door.  That or should they have a large warning saying “NON OF THIS EVER REALLY TRANSPIRED”.  Just seems off to me & I love stupid or serious science fiction movies.  Leave logistics out of it & be entertained for a few hours.

I fell asleep to “Devin Townsend Project” the album “Transcendence”, followed by “U2” the album “Songs of Experience” & finally “Trivium” the album “The Sin & The Sentence”

I exercised to “Pink” the album “Beautiful Trauma”

“So far so good” this week!  I seem to have more energy this week than usual.  I’ve been playing around with the numbers of repetitions I do with a couple of exercises, adding not subtracting.

I got a call Monday morning from my doctor’s office saying they needed a urine sample.  I wasn’t thinking.  I called Kim & realized we gave it to the lab on Sunday instead of Friday when I gave the blood sample.  They’ve got my sample from Sunday.  I had to give another Tuesday evening.  Really good/nice people just REALLY frustrated that these minor inconveniences are now part of my life.  All of that being said, this beats the worst alternative.

I’m a Canadian living in Canada.  Whatever the orange guy south of us says has no effect on me anymore.  He’s nothing more than a racist that craves attention.  Remember that car hitting a crowd in Charleston?  He said he’d rather be called racist than wrong.  Mr. President, those 2 words fit together very well & come hand in hand.

Great news when the Pope is worried about nuclear war.

https://ca.yahoo.com/news/pope-warns-world-one-step-away-nuclear-war-115741315.html

I guess I’ll miss 1 BIG concert this year & that’s fine getting to see the others will be FANTASTIC!  I’ll miss “Stone Sour” with “Halestorm” oh well.  I don’t see either band calling it a career anytime soon.  They are playing in Saskatoon on February 4th, yeah a Sunday……..BOO.  The other ones totally make up for it though!  Money tree is bare due to the other concerts, that & I’m not sure who would come with me to that one?  No big deal though!  If I had to miss a concert this year, that would be the one.

No matter who it is or how it sounds, it should be better live!  If it’s not I write them off & forget about seeing them live or purchase the odd album.  I’ll never see Taylor Swift live & that’s fine with me.  I only purchased her pop album “1989” since it was really catchy & not country.  Country music & I don’t mix just like water & oil.

With the exception of the latest “Foo Fighters” album, the bands I like, especially Foo Fighters, like to sound the same recorded as they do live.  Many members of the many bands I like seem to all share that sentiment.

“Corrosion of Conformity” REVIEW

It’s exactly as this reviewer said…

She seemed to like it more than I do.  It’s a lot like “Anthrax”, I don’t love it & I don’t hate it.  It’s good!  I’d give it 3 out of 5.  It reminds me quite a bit of “Kyuss”.  I see myself listening more to their earlier albums like “Wiseblood”, “Deliverance”, “In the Arms of God”, & “America’s Volume Dealer”.

Here’s a “Kyuss” tune from my preferred album of theirs “Blues for the Red Sun”

The Blue Jays did something but I wouldn’t think this is all.  They signed a 37 year old outfielder for $5,000,000 for 1 year to platoon with a left or right fielder.  At minimum they still need a fifth starting pitcher & hope there are 0 injuries.  In other words, I’m still not impressed.  “Hello 28th place in the entire MLB.  Haven’t seen you since last season!”

I fell asleep to “Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds” the album “Who Built the Moon?”

Too early to turn on workout music.  I exercised before going to the doctor.

5 day week total 600 pushups, 500 crunches, 500 leg lifts, 225 triceps pushups, 200 squats, & 200 back flexes.

Yes, I had a doctor appointment this morning.

I’m getting tired of seeing this doctor, that doctor, another doctor.  Needles have never been an issue for me.  I just want to be done with this cancer thing, it’s becoming one more thing I have to be aware of & I’m fine.  I’m just annoyed by it now.  It’s just getting in my way, taking up time I still haven’t set aside for doctor appointments.

The whole thing is just getting more annoying as it continues.  I’m alive, the doctors & nurses have a success story to write about & use for future brain cancer patients.  Take this story & save someone else’ life.  My doctors & nurses are very nice, it’s not them that annoy me, it’s the after cancer protocol that I’m tired of.  Go here, go there, do this, talk to this person.

I had cancer in 2008 & it’s 2018 now, I’m tired of this stuff!

I think the music I listen too is more mainstream than some readers think.  In that it’s more mainstream within it’s genre.  Lamb of God, Trivium, System of a Down, Iron Maiden, In Flames, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Anthrax, etc.  They’re all bands that most metal fans could list in seconds.  Metal fans may not like them but have likely heard of them.

I find it funny that Bono still thinks/or ever considered U2 as a “punk rock” band.  Maybe the mentality of a “punk rock” band, but never has the music represented a “punk rock” sound.  I’m a BIG U2 fan but I have never thought of them as “punk rock”

Yep, “Corrosion of Conformity” released an album at midnight Eastern Time.  Once I get it & give it a few listens I’ll let you know what I think of it.  Yes, it’s a metal/hard rock album.

I think “Foo Fighters” could do the same as “Pearl Jam” just tour & randomly release a new album.  LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is absolutely HILARIOUS!!!  LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What has Gene Simmons, bass player of KISS, tried to trademark?

The more you share this, the more readers I get.  No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.  I can’t tell who’s reading this but thank you!
