Friday’s Rock It Out Blog

I’ve never been a fan of the majority of L.A. ’80s hair metal bands, other than “Mr. Big”. I can acknowledge that most of them have influenced the music I listen to currently. I would never say they’re terrible musician though. They’re all good at what they do/did obviously.

OK, so the Toronto Blue Jays have lost the first 2 games of a 7 game series. No need to hit the panic button yet. They also lost the first 2 games in a 5 game series against Texas. Remember it’s the best of 7 games, KC has to win 2 games to advance & the Blue Jays have to win 4 to advance, calm down Canada, it’s not over yet!

Now you can’t find this album anywhere, but I bought it ASAP, because Dave Grohl is on it!

Metallica fans aren’t holding their breath after the release of the last 2 albums. A TON of fans didn’t like those albums from what I’ve heard? Here’s James Hetfield with an update from the studio.

Halloween’s getting closer & closer. The only thing I enjoy about Halloween now is seeing the kids all dressed up! I don’t go to halloween parties or dress up. I just find that it takes too much effort for me. Anyways here’s www.loudwire.com picks for 10 scariest metal album covers.

10 songs about ghosts. I’d have to go with “Opeth” on this one.

Gwen Stefani’s first song since announcing divorce from Gavin Rossdale of “Bush”

Roger Waters of “Pink Floyd” with Billy Corgan & Tom Morello.

Nice quiet weekend here. Went out for supper last night to “Chilis” with longtime friends & there young child. Which means I had to wear pants despite it being Saturday. I wear shorts indoors year round. Until we left for the restaurant I was happy as a clam, short shorts, beer, & baseball.

Rock It Out Blog from Wednesday

I wonder why vehicles today have blue tooth. Use blue tooth if you have to answer a phone call or make a phone call. Remember, it works as a phone, not just a text or email machine. It could save multiple lives. Too late for this girl unfortunately.

Dave Grohl explains fan letter he wrote at age 14.

^^This may be my favourite song on this album followed very closely by the other 7.

Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine/Audioslave guitarist) starts his own record label.

I miss ‘Rage Against The Machine’

Mark Tremonti (former guitarist of Creed, now with Alter Bridge & solo project Tremonti) interview/article, including his friendship with Scott Stapp of Creed.

2nd solo album release for Canada is June 9th on iTunes.

‘Death Grips’ never heard of them? I’ve already got too much music

I’ve never worn ear plugs through an entire concert. I’d start with them in & take them out after 1 or 2 songs, just couldn’t hear the high notes. Yes, I’m all but deaf in my right ear. These might work though.

Stone Sour shared it. Yes I own it!

I was just burning a couple of rare albums that I bought very early in 2001 or 2002 when they were released. A couple of friends would like them but missed out & now they’re out of print & not on iTunes or anywhere else. I’m pretty sure that’s legal. You could trade tapes, vinyl, CDs, etc. Now it’s a bit more difficult with iTunes. I guess I could go on a streaming music site for a while & burn the music I like on to a CD if I believed in free music?

I guess Sam Smith lost his voice. He’s “better now” & can speak. He’s rescheduled his tour.

‘Motorhead’ return with 22nd album (Bad Magic) out August 18th & announce 40th anniversary tour.

^^As much as I’d like to, D. J’s won’t play this at weddings if I request it.

Willie Nelson & Justin Bieber join the cast of ‘Zoolander 2’

Fantastic Barenaked Ladies album
You can hear it buried in the mix! Both guitar solo & vocal guitar solo.

Yep, there are groups/solo artists I don’t like. I either just flat out don’t them or “…if they play the same 3 chords, I just yawn & say WOO HOO HOO! It’s all been done….”

You can pre-order the Lamb of God CD from their website or pre-order it with some merchandise as well.

Jack White has been inducted to the ‘Nashville Walk of Fame’

My iTunes has 1362 albums including my 3 pre-orders coming this month. Just waiting for more pre-orders & release dates. That includes roughly 300/half of my CDs. Half of those albums are on my iPod & the other half are on my iTunes. We pay $27.00/year for iTunes match. With that, my computer does not have to be on & we can listen to all of our music through our receiver/amplifier.

I hope all of the people wanting legal marijuana laws all voted! If they didn’t, like I never do, they don’t have the right to complain about what the government does. If people want it & voted whine & cry about it all you want. If they didn’t vote better off not to complain, I’m not supposed to since I don’t vote, & I don’t really care about this current hot topic. I’ve tried it & I don’t want or need it. All the power to those who like/want/need it.

I can’t believe this was already 3 years ago!? Feels like he died 3 months ago!?

I’m starting to really enjoy this album

June has 4 album’s I plan on getting from iTunes. 3 of them are pre-ordered already. Muse, Barenaked Ladies, Walk off the Earth & Tremonti. Tremonti is not available for pre-order on iTunes at the moment.

Adam Jones shares Tool teaser from the studio. I don’t buy it until they announce an official release date!

I guess……………………………….if I have to………………………….I will. It’s May the 4th (be with you) which is 2 days before May 6th (Revenge of the Sith). 30 awesome ‘Star Wars’ moments

I have nothing but respect for teachers! Most people have 1 teacher they will never forget. I have many, at least 5-10, including Mr. & Mme. Fletcher, Mme. Winter, Mr. Wilkinson, etc. So with nothing but respect for teachers, when was the last time you used long division outside of your job? I haven’t used it since University when I was in Engineering. Teachers tell you to learn this or that. What they’re really teaching you is how to continue learning once you have finished school & how to deal with what reality will throw at you.

Halestorm’s rig rundown.

I had far too many foot pedals. They’re fun for a while but after a while you get bored. I only really needed my tuner pedal, my wah pedal, noise compressor & digital delay pedal on stage. I had about 3 or 4 other foot pedals. Metal Zone pedal, phaser pedal, equalizer pedal & a chorus pedal which I used very rarely.

I’m going to leave this first paragraph until I have 100 subscribers

Really please help me out?

PLEASE share this link & pass it around to those that might enjoy. Tell them how to subscribe from a desktop or laptop computer! Let’s get some more people on board? http://www.amillionmilesawayblog.com Don’t feel as though you need to click on every link. I’ll do this so nobody else has to. I’m on face book & email only. I’ve found people on face book that I’ve lost track of over the years, so let’s use email to talk with each other. Up there are instructions on how to subscribe. I’m at 30 subscribers so all 30 of you please help me out?
Even though you subscribe to the blog I always recommend coming to the site to read it in case someone comments on a topic. Comments are always welcomed. If you’re using “Internet Explorer” or “Google Chrome” as a web browser the http://www.youtube.com links will be open to show you the title, artist & a still photo of the video. I have to switch between the 2 since the audio doesn’t work all of the time on one of them.

If one Marilyn Manson isn’t enough to make you cringe, here’s 2

I posted this yesterday but it didn’t work for me. Sorry if you’ve seen this before. Album release on iTunes is April 14th

What was the number 1 song the day you were born? Mine’s below….

Tony Iommi trying to stop Indonesia Drug Executions
Tom DeLonge (formerly of Blink-182) announces solo album

Tremonti details album, name, song titles, etc.

I agree, sort of. Judas Priest have likely made their millions of dollars, they shouldn’t NEED the money their being a bit greedy. All of that being said, they’re working musicians, that’s their job. Musicians shouldn’t work for free. Unless you buy the album at a concert, it’s free. CDs, iTunes, Streaming, these are all free if the artists are signed to a label. If they aren’t they make roughly $0.70 a song per download or CD sale. So big name acts that have been around for years make less than a dollar on anything unless the album is bought at the show & most of them probably don’t need the cash. Maybe I’m wrong spending $13-$15 on an album from iTunes? I want to OWN my music & be assured it’s there all day everyday. I have never even thought about looking at a streaming site I don’t know if you pay $10 or something for music for a lifetime? If you do and you want truly FREE music you should maybe just have streamed http://www.youtube.com on your phone, the 50 song mixes on youtube.

Drummer dies at the age of 42. That’s WAY to young, like the guy in Calgary while I was in some hospital. He had the same type of cancer as I had. He had 2 kids & died at the age of 27. Kim found it online & told me. Far too young.

Ozzy Osbourne does arts & crafts with his grand daughter

Metallica article/interview with drummer Lars Ulrich about new album

It’s not A-Rod, it’s A-Roid. He took steroids, lied about it, got caught, lied about it some more and wasn’t allowed on a field all 162 games of 2014. So that’s 2 strikes, 3 & his career is over.

Songs I heard too much of working for the banquet area of the Delta Hotel in the ’90s. Once was usually more than enough. But I got to hear these on a daily basis at work!?

I like the Green Day song, I just didn’t need to hear it 2 or 3 times a day.

Let’s get some more people on board? http://www.amillionmilesawayblog.com Don’t feel as though you need to click on every link. That’s why I try to do a short explanation for each link if it’s not a youtube link, that is usually open. I’ve hit 23 subscribers! Let’s keep going!
Am I the only one that thinks this is ridiculous? If I have the album I don’t want a single from said album. I want the B-Side(s). I can see that people want to buy individual songs, but if they just want that one song from the full album, they can do that with the beauty of iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, etc. Get a few songs they want from the full album. I never get 1 song on iTunes, 99.9% of the time. If I don’t like the full album, then I usually dismiss said album. I can see both sides but I want the option to buy B-Sides since most purchases are from iTunes inn the comfort of my home. This along with music being cheap or free is something iTunes should address. Before they hike the price of songs/albums. I really don’t care if you personally get your music from a streaming site, that’s another personal choice. I prefer to own what I listen/watch so music for me is iTunes. Movies & TV series are an entire different ball of wax. When my DVD/Blu-ray shelf is full, iTunes it is, if it’s not on Netflix!
Muse in the studio!!!
