Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Waste of a week.  Missed taking some of my pills on Monday & Tuesday which messed with my sleep badly.  Did my exercises Wednesday.  Went to see “Big Wreck” Wednesday night & the elevator was out of order.  3 flights of stairs down & 3 flights up that night.  My body has been sore the entire week, so I called it for the week on Thursday.

500 crunches, 300 leg lifts, 100 squats, 100 back flexes & stairs, oh so many stairs.

I fell asleep to “Alter Bridge” the album “Walk the Sky” followed by “I Built the Sky” the album “The Zenith Rise”

I’m a cancer survivor & I’m complaining about what?  A diagnoses like this would absolutely devastate me.  I got cancer before our 3rd anniversary.  This guy was on his honeymoon when he noticed the symptoms of ALS.  #AXEALS   Another disease that doesn’t care how healthy you are.  Not cool!  I survived, this guy & many more people want him to survive.  The REALLY sad thing here is that I’ve never heard of an ALS survivor.  Many people have survived cancer though.

When you see people in worse scenarios than you’re currently in & you’ve been whining & complaining about your own situation, it SERIOUSLY puts things into perspective.

A guy wants food at a drive-thru, done, no problem.  I was ready to go in & sit down with him, get him out of the cold, chat with him, have a warm beverage, some food, & see if I could bring him some sweaters in my closet later on.

A guy with ALS, all I could do is listen.  Maybe that’s what he wants other than the cure.

I see stuff like this & all I can think is “WOW!  I need to lighten up & start paying more attention to others”.  If I’m not part of the solution, I’m part of the problem.  Right now, I can listen, I can shut up & listen.  My problems are constantly getting better, & hopefully I’ll be able to help out in other ways eventually.   I’m alive, I’m surrounded by family & friends that love me, I’ve got a home, food, etc.

People want to leave a mark on the world, something to be remembered for.  Throughout this entire blog/website I’ve been complaining about my situation.  I’ve complained more than enough.  I want to be remembered as a person that tried & a person that would always be willing to help out others.  I’d help out others before cancer, so why not now?

Being on the other side of that scenario for so long has made me realize something.  Any size of help you can give is always more appreciated than you’ll ever know.  Hearing someone say “Thank You” or “God bless you” for something so small is something a person doesn’t forget.

Of course the bigger stuff I can’t do.  I could possibly volunteer somewhere or look for a non-profit organization to help out with in the future.  I can do some smaller things to A) Pay it forward   B) Pay it back to those that have & still are helping me.

I like my fitness, but I can’t just do that forever.  Kim & I have talked about going down & up a flight of stairs once a week.  Kim will have to assist me, so I can avoid cracking open my head.  Going down 3 flights the other evening was exhausting & much more difficult than going up, not sure why though?

BIG WRECK

The concert was FANTASTIC!  That was the 14th time I’ve seen Big Wreck since January 30th 1999.  They used to come through Regina about 4 times on each of the first 2 albums.  They broke up in 2002, then I went to the lead singer’s new band “Thornley” until 2012.  Even when I was in my rehabilitation program I went!  I wasn’t sold on the “Thornley” albums though.

2012 came & “Big Wreck” had re-established themselves with 2 of the original 4 members & 3 new members.  Unfortunately returning member/guitarist Brian Doherty passed away of cancer after recording their newest/6th album.

The band on stage seemed content though & the concert was great, including the opening group “Texas King”….

Big Wreck played 5 or 6 of their new songs.  Starting off with this new song.

Last year he says “I’m not going to play that song again”.  Wednesday night, they played it.

Set closer.

Encore.

No “Thornley” songs were played, but here’s a very brief look into their catalogue.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Pearl Jam” the album “Ten”

I exercised to “Alice in Chains” a Greatest Hits compilation

Nobody has ever said that I’m a burden or high maintenance.  I put a TON of pressure on myself.  Why?  I always have, throughout school I didn’t want to disappoint my teachers or family members.  Now I don’t want to disappoint these people, this group of people, everyone for that matter, & myself included.  That’s probably a BIG part of my depression.  When I have an off day, like when I’m too tired to exercise or don’t feel too great after I exercise, I get pretty down on myself.  All of that stress & pressure is self-inflicted.  I know it’s messed up, but that’s always been normal to me.

When I quit university, I felt like a failure.  Nobody said anything to make me feel that way, it was just how I felt & I never dumped my emotions on ANYONE!  I went from grade 8 to grade 12 getting a class pin every year, maintaining an 80% average or higher every year.  To drop out of university was devastating to me.  Very unexpected to me, maybe not to others?

My exercises this week have been really good “so far…”  I’m very happy & VERY sweaty with them every day.  Much better mood this week also!

Real life is starting to get back in my life, which is both good & disappointing.  More visits with people in the outside world but that also means the possibility of less exercise.

Don’t upset the hard core comic fans!  I don’t consider myself one of them, & I don’t have any comic books.  They seem like a group that could turn on creators fast.  I do feel a bit cheated after the plot of “Spider-man Far From Home” though.

This seems very subjective as well.  Some people like a fast/tough guitar solo, which can be great!  Others prefer a simple guitar solo like Nirvana’s guitar solo in Smells like Teen Spirit, it’s the melody as a solo.  As long as it serves the song I’m good either way.

https://www.planetrock.com/news/rock-news/the-top-40-greatest-guitar-solos-ever/?preview=1&fbclid=IwAR3uYLONVz_L07kQi2iDcXna7XWV217TBkKGvAqApsCpYKAY5-6wV6kqHN8

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!  Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

This is why Tool fans have been complaining other than the 13 year wait.

I like this album.  It not my favourite by Soundgarden, but I like it.  Some hard core Soundgarden fans were really disappointed when it was released though.

POSSIBLE LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Foo Fighters – Everlong live at a couple of festivals across the pond!

I would have to agree.  Pearl Jam’s first album “Ten” is now a classic album, has been for quite a while in my eyes & ears!

I don’t think being opposed to any specific type of movie is wrong.  However, there’s no need to voice your same opinion each time one is released, like 23 in total.

CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL

All I have of theirs is a greatest hits album.  Before my time so a greatest hits will do just fine for me.  Most of you probably know them.  Watch the movie “Forrest Gump” or most movies involving a war, you’ll probably hear the song “Fortunate Son”…

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Tool” the album “Lateralus”

I exercised to “Chromeo” two albums on shuffle.

Well I’m still around & this year is exactly the same date & day I was diagnosed with brain cancer 11 years ago.  Tuesday, February 5th 2019 marks 11 years since I was diagnosed, unconscious & full of whatever could help me survive.  I don’t remember anything after Kim came in the back of the ambulance & I said “Everything will be OK sweetie”.  That was a bold prediction on my part!  What did Kim tell my parents?  “He’s not going to die.”

“So far, so good” no flu the week before, no debilitating headache in the back/base of my skull either (knock on wood).  I’m here & I’m not done yet!

As the comments on the www.loudwire.com Facebook page said.  “3 months = 4 years” & “Get your CD players ready”.  Hahahahaha, it’s funny because it’s true!

http://loudwire.com/tool-new-album-april-2019-release/?fbclid=IwAR2mf4ehNaJ1p0dgSZ-n-CVMcnO-QqTXl_kRiFZTnIf8_5AFkGDu3nYPc24

So, “Tool” is sick of their fans feeling entitled to a new album after the most recent release in 2006.  As a fan & I’m speaking for most of us, we can stop that, when you stop feeding fans false information regarding a release date.

They like to keep it really at shows by not doing an encore, I like that.  If they like to keep it real at live shows, how about keeping it real when it comes to a release date?  I urge “Tool” fans to take this April release date with a grain of salt!  I’ll beLIEve it when it happens!  We were told this album would be released in 2016, 2017, 2018, & now 2019.  With that track record, I don’t trust ANY release date they give.  This is also the last album required on their contract I believe.  I’m confident that this will be their final release, if I’m right.

This album could be anywhere on a scale of 1 – 10.  It’s been hyped up by so many fans waiting for it.  Don’t be alarmed if it doesn’t live up to your standards!

New “Greta Van Fleet” this year!  “Tool” takes 13 years, “Greta Van Fleet” a year later.

AUDIOSLAVE

“Rage Against the Machine” had disbanded, unfortunately.  They were the only rap/rock group I really liked & still miss.  “Soundgarden” had broken up in 1997.  “Audioslave” was Chris Cornell from “Soundgarden” on vocals with the bass player, drummer, & guitarist from “Rage Against the Machine”.  I was in SIAST when I heard their first single on the radio at school.  3 guys in our SIAST class at the time.  I heard it & got the other 2 to come hear it.  I’m pretty sure all 3 of us were eager to hear it.  “Audioslave” recorded 3 albums, which I thought were really good at the time.  They still are but that was well over 15 years ago.  I still like them, there’s just not much excitement now when I listen to them.  I think I heard they had some stuff recorded with the late Chris Cornell that wasn’t released?

“Soundgarden” from the ‘90s grunge scene in Seattle.  They actually started in 1998.  This is from their 4th of 6 studio albums.  This song was on the album that everyone raves about.

“Rage Against the Machine” who came along in ‘92.

So what does “Audioslave” sound like?  Something completely different.

2002   “Audioslave”

2005   “OUT OF EXILE”

iTunes doesn’t have the next album, I think this is the 7th album that I bought on CD, yet nowhere to be found in the iTunes store?

2006   “REVELATIONS”

Please share this, I’m not profiting from this at all.  Word of mouth is the only way of promoting this.

I fell asleep to “Devin Townsend Project” the album “Transcendence”, followed by “U2” the album “Songs of Experience” & finally “Trivium” the album “The Sin & The Sentence”

I exercised to “Pink” the album “Beautiful Trauma”

“So far so good” this week!  I seem to have more energy this week than usual.  I’ve been playing around with the numbers of repetitions I do with a couple of exercises, adding not subtracting.

I got a call Monday morning from my doctor’s office saying they needed a urine sample.  I wasn’t thinking.  I called Kim & realized we gave it to the lab on Sunday instead of Friday when I gave the blood sample.  They’ve got my sample from Sunday.  I had to give another Tuesday evening.  Really good/nice people just REALLY frustrated that these minor inconveniences are now part of my life.  All of that being said, this beats the worst alternative.

I’m a Canadian living in Canada.  Whatever the orange guy south of us says has no effect on me anymore.  He’s nothing more than a racist that craves attention.  Remember that car hitting a crowd in Charleston?  He said he’d rather be called racist than wrong.  Mr. President, those 2 words fit together very well & come hand in hand.

Great news when the Pope is worried about nuclear war.

https://ca.yahoo.com/news/pope-warns-world-one-step-away-nuclear-war-115741315.html

I guess I’ll miss 1 BIG concert this year & that’s fine getting to see the others will be FANTASTIC!  I’ll miss “Stone Sour” with “Halestorm” oh well.  I don’t see either band calling it a career anytime soon.  They are playing in Saskatoon on February 4th, yeah a Sunday……..BOO.  The other ones totally make up for it though!  Money tree is bare due to the other concerts, that & I’m not sure who would come with me to that one?  No big deal though!  If I had to miss a concert this year, that would be the one.

No matter who it is or how it sounds, it should be better live!  If it’s not I write them off & forget about seeing them live or purchase the odd album.  I’ll never see Taylor Swift live & that’s fine with me.  I only purchased her pop album “1989” since it was really catchy & not country.  Country music & I don’t mix just like water & oil.

With the exception of the latest “Foo Fighters” album, the bands I like, especially Foo Fighters, like to sound the same recorded as they do live.  Many members of the many bands I like seem to all share that sentiment.

“Corrosion of Conformity” REVIEW

It’s exactly as this reviewer said…

She seemed to like it more than I do.  It’s a lot like “Anthrax”, I don’t love it & I don’t hate it.  It’s good!  I’d give it 3 out of 5.  It reminds me quite a bit of “Kyuss”.  I see myself listening more to their earlier albums like “Wiseblood”, “Deliverance”, “In the Arms of God”, & “America’s Volume Dealer”.

Here’s a “Kyuss” tune from my preferred album of theirs “Blues for the Red Sun”

The Blue Jays did something but I wouldn’t think this is all.  They signed a 37 year old outfielder for $5,000,000 for 1 year to platoon with a left or right fielder.  At minimum they still need a fifth starting pitcher & hope there are 0 injuries.  In other words, I’m still not impressed.  “Hello 28th place in the entire MLB.  Haven’t seen you since last season!”

Today was another early morning after a long night got to bed around midnight, listened to roughly 2 ½ albums on my iPod. Woke up just before 6:00 am to pee, I was up I figured I might as well stay up & get going? Turned on the stereo & started putting dishes away that I took care of for Kim after supper, did the dishwasher that was full & ran last night & washed a few by hand since I made a breakfast juice last night & needed the pitcher for it. I’ve turned into a morning person Kim wakes me up during the week either before she gets ready for work or as she’s leaving for work. I like to get my workout/breakfast smoothie done ASAP so I can get this done & relax for the rest of the day ( around 2:00 pm or a bit later) is when I hit the couch & watch the late night talk shows I’ve recorded from the previous night. As soon as Kim gets home we watch “The Ellen Degeneres Show” together. I watch Jimmy Fallon, Conan O’Brien & Netflix if there’s time for it before she gets home. I keep busy with my workout, Brewster, & this blog before I get to relax! Weekends I occasionally sleep in past 9:30 am. I listened to the newest “Anthrax” album “For All Kings” at a reasonable volume, not 11!

Just when I thought Major League Baseball umpires had hit the bottom, they prove me wrong & keep digging. I think any fan, player or manager watching the Chicago White Sox playing the Toronto Blue Jays last night would have been absolutely disgusted with the very inconsistent strike zone. When the back catchers, hitters, pitchers, live spectators, TV spectators, and managers from both teams question you as to why the same pitch was a strike or ball 3 pitches ago is now the opposite, wouldn’t an umpire begin to think that he might be off a bit. Then you go & throw a manager out of the game for asking a question to a different umpire? The Blue Jays would have lost anyways but it shouldn’t have been 4-0, I’ll say 3-0 at the worst, the fourth run was laughable, & who knows what the other miscalls would have been? The entire game was a joke at best. Keep “..digging your hole..” umpires, I guess you haven’t hit rock bottom yet?

As much as I like Foo Fighters I’ve only seen them 4 times, that’s the same amount that I’ve seen Trivium? I like Trivium but they’re not Foo Fighters! I try to never miss a Big Wreck show in town. When I went to see them in ’99-2002 they were here about 3 or 4 times a year & I saw them each & everytime. Even when I was in the hospital, Kim & I would take Para Transit or our wheelchair van to see ‘Thornley’ in town a few times, the lead singer’s band while Big Wreck had broken up for a decade.

Halestorm’s Facebook site has turned me on to other artists I likely wouldn’t know about. They recommended ‘Highly Suspect’, who was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock Album for their debut album “Mr. Asylum”. I can’t think of another rock group who has been a Grammy nominee for their debut album? That’s impressive for a rock band, especially now that rock music isn’t ‘cool’ right now.

Songs I like, “Thornley” 2 albums released in 10 years while “Big Wreck” was on hiatus. Not really “Big Wreck’s” sound. I prefer the first album.

It’s already been a great year for me with what is out & what I have on pre-order from iTunes.

Pre-order stuff

Also 3 albums from last year. Little excessive. I agree. I’m home all day, this blog, music, baseball, TV, Netflix, & exercising keep me quite busy, & CFL football hasn’t started yet!

I’m looking at this & I’m thinking “You moron, STOP…………………..NOW!”

June’s not even over yet! Tool, Stone Temple Pilots, Megadeth, Into Eternity, etc. yet to be released. Yes, I ask if we can afford however much money an album is worth aka I’m on an allowance. Every year for Christmas or my birthday, I’m more than happy with iTunes gift cards, they don’t last very long. This is my addiction, I don’t think Kim knew it would spiral out of control. To be fair I didn’t see it coming either!

I never put my iTunes or iPod on shuffle unless it’s one artist with multiple albums. I don’t want to hear metal after a pop song or an acoustic song.

Those don’t all fit together? Variety is the spice of life for me! Thank goodness for MP3 players/iPods that can hold so much music! Remember that game what 10 albums/CDs, Vinyl, Tapes would you take if you had to choose. I can’t do that!

Songs I like. “INXS” I have one greatest hits album of theirs from iTunes, I’m good! The more songs I listen to as I’m writing this, the more I should listen to them. Kind of forgot about them.
