Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music from this weekend!  “Muse”, “Dead Sara”, “Lamb of God”, “The Devin Townsend Project”, & “I Mother Earth”.

I’m sure today is just us getting ready for the week.  Short week ahead.  You won’t get a post until Friday & I’ll post until the end of November, unless I feel the need to write something before the year is done.

Friday & Saturday, nothing, extremely boring.  I stayed up late to watch “Zero Dark Thirty” again, haven’t pulled that one out in a while!

Sunday was the home playoff game with the Saskatchewan Roughriders vs. the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.  Most importantly it was Canada’s Remembrance Day & America’s Veterans Day.  I hope you took a moment to honour all of the veterans for you & your country.  We’re all here because of what they’ve done & continue to do for us.

My great uncle Bob was here from Winnipeg to attend the game with dad & I.  Winnipeg won 23-18.  Now that they’ve beat the Riders, they must win it all.  I refuse to cheer for Calgary.  I’m pretty sure it’s only Calgarians that cheer for Calgary?  A game in Calgary looks like Christmas some red Stampeder jerseys among the many green Rider jerseys of people who have moved there for work.  I pretty much went to the game wearing enough layers to make it difficult to bend at any joint in my body.  3 pairs of socks, 3 pairs of pants, 2 shirts with a hoodie & winter jacket, toque, & mittens.  Of course a moment of silence to honour the veterans past, present, & future.

We all met up at my parents place after for meatballs & rice.  The game started at 3:30 pm, odd start time probably for television?

2 days of lies from the president who shall not be named.

Pretty messed up world when the so called leader of the free world is a blatant liar & can’t keep track of his lies since there are SOOOOOOOOOOOO many, while taking freedom of speech (the 1st amendment) away from a reporter, who’s had his press pass to the White House taken away because the president couldn’t truthfully answer the question!

I always think, if the guy in the White House wants something done his way, he should do it himself & not bother having ANY staff at all.  He’s the president so he knows how to do everything, since he’s such “a stable genius”, but not qualified for anything in reality!

WOW!  “You have to treat the Presidency with respect” why?  Treat others as you want to treated.  Since when has this president ever treated anyone with an ounce of respect?

OK, I get it, republicans wanted a change from Obama’s leadership, but REALLY this is what you wanted?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!  This makes me lose a little bit of faith in humanity every day, and I am a Canadian born, raised, & living in my home town.

New “A Perfect Circle” video!

I’ve got “Kerplunk”, “Dookie”, “Insomniac”, “Nimrod”, “Warning”, “!Uno”, & “Revolution Radio”.  All of those albums & there are many other ones available.  Truth be told, I should have stopped at the album “Warning”.  The 2 albums I really like & will talk about are “Dookie” & “Nimrod”.  All that I recommend is everything from “Kerplunk” – “Warning”.

1994    DOOKIE

1997   NIMROD

We had 4 Christmas’ this year.  First up was Christmas with Kim’s family.  Opened gifts here on Christmas Eve, then spent the 25th at Sherry & James’ place.  Played games, had our Christmas meal & watched a movie.  Kim’s family went home on Boxing Day.

In the afternoon of Boxing Day, Corey, Jolene, & Hannah came over in the mid-afternoon to have our Christmas we have with them as we do normally.  No big meal though!  Thank goodness.

The only problem for me was trying to figure out how to get into Sherry & James’ house.  It’s a nice place but not wheelchair friendly.  I made it in without falling!  I don’t think I’ve ever fallen there.  James’ brother Jeffrey was with us for 1/2 Christmas Day, & here on Christmas Eve as well.  He’s a really nice guy to chat with.

On the 27th we had Christmas with my family.  We all did an escape room.  2 teams of 5 people.  My uncle, his girlfriend, & 2 cousins were with us for Christmas.  We had pizza for supper, then opened gifts, & finished the evening with a game of Pictionary & Mad Gab.

After we had just finished opening gifts, my parents got a call from a paramedic in Calgary.  My grandparents were in Airdrie for Christmas staying with my aunt, uncle & 2 cousins.  They had dropped my grandparents of at the airport to fly home.  They hadn’t boarded the plane & my grandmother had “a small heart attack” they said.

They think it was cardio myopathy.  I guess it really damaged her heart & her brain wasn’t working quite right.  Mom & Dad were on the phone a lot on Friday (29th) keeping other family members up to date.

On the 28th I did absolutely nothing, I was REALLY tired.  Kim went over to visit Jolene & Hannah.  Their dog Dug needed to have a play date with Brewster.  Kim thought Corey was working, so I stayed home & watched “The X-Files” on Netflix.  I should have had a nap instead.  I was too young to watch this when it was on TV, but I can’t wait for the new season.

Friday the 29th was Christmas with my mother’s side of the family at my cousin’s house in Rouleau (pronounced Rolo).  Aunts, uncles, cousins & all of my cousin’s young kids.  More of a family get together.  No gifts or anything just appetizers & a turkey dinner.  Unfortunately Mitch & Dad were both ill & stayed home.

It’s REALLY cold out today, December 30, 2017, we’re not leaving the house today however, I’m wearing my usual attire of shorts & a T-Shirt though.  I even asked Kim for some of the comforter in the middle of the night.  That’s very rare.  Make a note on your calendar!

Cold day, a good day to hunker down & watch movies with Kimmy.  She found a “Rocky” marathon.  She loves those movies.  Yes, we own them all, from the first “Rocky” all the way to “#Creed”.

I don’t like to speak about my Christmas gifts.  It’s very embarrassing to me.  I’m grateful for them, but also embarrassed by the amount of stuff I receive.  I prefer & enjoy giving gifts.  That’s one of the reason I don’t talk about what I’ve received.  Please don’t ask?

Well, it’s New Year’s Eve December 31, 2017 means I’m 9 years cancer free.  I’m still in a wheelchair, iPatch over my left eye, & still on 5 medications.  All of that being said, I’m fine.

We spent New Year’s with Corey, Jolene, Hannah, Gosha, Twyla, & Elouise (spelling may be off here).  Yes we were home & in bed before midnight.

Kim has the entire week off, but I’ll start my workouts on Tuesday.   I’m going to change it up a bit throughout the year so it doesn’t become the same daily routine.  You’ll still get a weekly total though!

Just spoke with my mother, mom & dad may be heading to the Alberta boarder to pick up my grandparents this weekend (6th & 7th).  Just the other day grandma thought the year was 1532, she was in a mall, & had been there for 2.5 years.  Sounds like she is doing better now.  When the paramedic called on the 27th we were all shocked that they said Jean Fraser was in the back of the ambulance?  Grandpa is the one with a bad heart.  I guess I’m lucky to still have two grandparents alive at my age.  I also got to know 3 of my great grandmothers.

Another tune from “A Perfect Circle”

If I knew in 2017 what I know now, Pink, U2, The Devin Townsend Project, & Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds would have appeared on my top albums of the year.

Pink – Beautiful Trauma

U2 – Songs of Experience

No, I didn’t care for their free album either, “Songs of Innocence”

The Devin Townsend Project – Transcendence

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Who Built the Moon?

I’ll do a review of these albums over the next 4 posts.  If you’ve never enjoyed U2, you probably won’t like their new album.  As a U2 fan, I REALLY like it.

600 pushups, 500 leg lifts & 225 triceps pushups!  Crunches & Back flexes will be thrown into the mix on January 2nd.  120 pushups, 100 leg lifts, 100 crunches, 45 triceps pushups, & 40 back flexes a day, 5 days a week.

I can’t really make a top 10, there were a TON of AWESOME albums released this year.  Singles, live albums, Greatest Hits & EPs don’t count.  So here they are, & after the first 2, everything is pretty much tied for 3rd.  It’s only a top 10 list with other albums below that didn’t quite make the cut.

After this, I’ll catch you January 1st, with a holiday update.

  1. Kelly Clarkson – Meaning of Life. Her 7th studio album, not including her Christmas album.

  1. Halflives – Empty Rooms. Their first album.

  1. Trivium – The Sin & the Sentence. Their 8th studio album

  1. Ed Sheeran – Divide. His 3rd studio album

  1. Royal Blood – How Did We Get so Dark? Their 2nd studio album

  1. Queens of the Stone Age – Villains. Their 7th studio album

  1. Big Wreck – Grace Street. Their 5th studio album.

  1. Foo Fighters – Concrete & Gold. Their 9th studio album.  Once I got past the over production on the album, I REALLY enjoy this album

  1. Paramore – After Laughter. Paramore’s 5th album

  1. Nothing but Thieves – Broken Machine. This was their second release & much like the first release, it’s my favourite album of the year.

Stone Sour – Hydrograd.  I’m just hooked on their 2nd, 3rd, & 4th album.  This is album number 6 for them.

Alter Bridge – B-Sides & Rarities w/ a double album Live at the 02 Arena

In Flames – Down, Wicked, & No Good 4 song EP of cover songs

Yes, Chris Izsak’s hit from the ‘90s

Ascot Royals – New Skin EP.  They opened for Big Wreck in February

The Watchmen – Live & in Stereo.  21 live songs from a show in Winnipeg (their home town) at The Burton Comings Theater.

Pentatonix – 4 EP.  They’re 7 cover songs on the EP done by the A Capella group.

It also has a cover of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” but it’s just OK.

Barenaked Ladies – Fake Nudes.  An album released November 17th that will likely grow on me.

Alice Cooper – Paranormal.  Good album that was just missing something for me?  I can see this growing on me too

Linkin Park – One More Light

Muse – Dig Down Single

Jack Johnson – All the Light Above it Too

Prophets of Rage – Self-titled.  A bit too much on the rap side for me, but not bad.

I have a short list of albums to purchase from 2017.

Pink – Beautiful Trauma

U2 – Songs of Experience

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Who Built the Moon?

The Devin Townsend Project – Transcendence

I’ve already checked out a few that aren’t listed here & didn’t make the cut.

7 albums to be released in 2018 I’ll check purchase from iTunes if I like them.

Myles Kennedy – Year of the Tiger

A Perfect Circle – TBA

Corrosion of Conformity – No Cross No Crown

Fall Out Boy – MANIA

Halestorm – TBA

Dream Theater – Into the Great Divide

Tremonti – TBA

Merry Christmas!

I fell asleep to “Nothing but Thieves” their self-titled debut album.  Their 2nd album “Broken Machine” is out in September!

I exercised to “Alice in Chains” the album “Facelift”.  Alice in Chains were labeled as a metal group that gained success with the grunge movement.  If the media labeled them as metal, Soundgarden could easily been thrown into that mix.

Sunday ended with us having supper in Corey & Jolene’s back yard.  We were guinea pigs for the new smoker, we’re alive, the meat was tasty & safe!

I really had to check my pride at the door at WRC.  I’d have a bath once a week, every patient had a schedule for a bath once a week.  Complete strangers saw me naked, covered me up once I was on the gurney, take me to the bath, lower me into the bath & wash me or more often Kim would wash me.  It was awkward at first for me but I got over that pretty fast.

When I started this blog & acted like Trump or worse I thought I truly deserved something fantastic.  I beat a life threatening disease, & everyone was calling me a “Hero”.  I bought in to everybody’s hype & forgot how to remain humble.  What should I have done instead?  Remain humble, not let the hype get to me, & just be thankful to be alive, which is good enough for me!  Unfortunately I realized that later than I should have.  When I mess something up, I truly am my own worst enemy.

What made me think of entitlement?  There was a guy who was doing physiotherapy at the same time as I was with my occupational therapist.  He flipped out on the physiotherapist, started swearing at her, pointed to me and yelled “I WANT TO BE DOING WHAT HE’S DOING!” The next day when I had physiotherapy I apologized to my physiotherapist, telling her “Sorry you had to deal with that garbage yesterday”.  She replied “It comes with the territory”.  I told her “It shouldn’t though”.

I’ll admit that I had a rough day also.  I didn’t yell or swear at anyone.  I just said “No, not today!  I’m tired & I don’t feel like doing anything!”  I went for a short walk with my walker, Kim, & my physiotherapist.  I apologized the next day for my behavior.  My therapist said “That’s OK.  Everyone has a rough day once in a while”.  However you want to look at it, it’s not right!  What I should have said initially is “Sorry, I’m tired & I need a day off from therapy today.  Is it OK if I take today off?”

Guess who was sitting next to me in our (mom, dad, & I) Saskatchewan Roughrider season ticket seats?  The guy who flipped out that one day in therapy.  I don’t like what he did but, forgive & forget I guess, it’s done now.

If you’re here strictly for the cancer news, that’s all I have for you today.

The countdown for the new Royal Blood album is out Thursday @ midnight eastern time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 days

They’re both very HEAVY metal musicians, if this happens it could go either way for me.

So it’s Monday in the late morning & I just found out The Watchmen are co-headlining the Queen City Exhibition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  WOOT WOOT

Finally “Despicable Me 3” in theaters June 30th.  I’ve been waiting for the release date to be announced!

I was emptying the dishwasher after my exercise & breakfast.  Then realized it has been a while since I’ve listened to this album……………..

So many people like to go on youtube or any type of social media & just drop a HUGE pile of crap on how much they dislike a movie, album, song, etc.  I’m guilty of doing that also.  OK, could you have done anything even remotely close to that?  Maybe, maybe not?  Until you can & have you might as well keep quiet.  When you do will your feelings be hurt if 2 out of 3 people just demolish your “art” on social media?  If you don’t like it, why are you even involved with anything to do with it?  Leave it alone & walk away or voice your opinion your own www.youtube.com channel dedicated to finding flaws in everything!  Most of us are old enough to make up our own mind!

I record & watch Jimmy Fallon & Conan the day after the late night showing.  I’m currently watching Jimmy Fallon.  Everybody rush out & get some “Tonight Dough” Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, 100% of the proceeds go to child charity.  You can eat ice cream while helping out & say “I had to do it for the kids!”  Just like miracle treat day at Dairy Queen!

Oddly enough, I was listening to this “Fleetwood Mac” album on Monday!

I think “Queens of the Stone Age” will be releasing their album soon?  Their Facebook page is active lately?  It will be their follow up to “…Like Clockwork” & 7th studio album!

Ozzfest meets Knotfest.  Probably too much metal for me?

I have no problem with Ozzy Osbourne, Slipknot are OK I just prefer Slipknot Light, Stone Sour!

Just to cool not to share!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The majority of metal fans are great people, just like every other community.  There’s a bad apple in every community.  Metal fans tend to get a “bad reputation.”

It’s gay pride week so if you’re an #LGBTQ member in or out of the closet, I fully support you as long as you’re a kind person.  If someone picks on you or makes fun of you because of your sexuality, I hope you have the strength to brush it off.  There are many idiots out there, but there’s also many people like me who fully support you!  Please don’t live a lie about your sexuality “Be Yourself” & own it.

Again LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kim & I didn’t sign up for cancer to be a big part of our life, but it is.  Kim helps me when needed & sometimes when I don’t need it, but she gets concerned that whatever may be too difficult for me.  I’ve had to adapt how I do things, like hand washing the dishes.  The first few times it was awkward and hurt slightly because of the wheelchair.  Different way of leaning over the sink.  Eventually I figured out how to do it “My Way”.  I may be slower at most things, but I can do them.  If something I’m doing around a large group affects others, either I get out of the way or people can just ask me to move, I don’t want to ruffle any feathers!

My parents & I have Saskatchewan Roughriders, football, tickets.  This will be the first season at a new stadium.  In the old stadium we’d get there about 45 minutes or more before game time & be among the last 100 or 200 people to leave.  I had to go up & down about 10 stairs to get to my seat, but dad & I tried to wait so we wouldn’t delay anyone entering or leaving the stadium.

I try not to bother others & I’m not bothered by others who ask me to get out of their way.  I know my wheelchair can be an obstacle for others, I have no problem moving.  I try not to rely on others either for help.  I almost always tell people “I’ve got this, don’t worry, I’ll ask for help if I need it.”  I don’t need help with everything, don’t worry.  If it’s my first time doing something I need some supervision the first few times until I can figure out how to do it my way, so I can at least minimize any help needed.

I can deal with a band not touring in 2017 if they have nothing booked & are recording a new album.  As long as they don’t take 10,000 days (like Tool) to do it.

From the album “10,000 Days” by Tool.  Latest release since 2006.  The longer they take, my expectations of the album become larger.  Yes, pun intended!  We’re only 10 years/ 3,650 days in.  We may have to wait another 20 years!  Hahahahahahaha!

Pearl Jam shared it…  ONE PIECE OF LANGUAGE IN THE LYRICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Opeth’s American headlining tour with “The Devin Townsend Project” & “Gojira”

May 4 – Nashville TN, War Memorial Auditorium

May 5 – Charlotte, NC, Carolina Rebellion Fest*

May 6 – Philadelphia PA, Electric Factory

May 7 – Sayreville, NJ, Starland Ballroom

May 9 – Chicago IL, The Vic Theatre

May 11 – Denver CO, Red Rocks Amphitheatre

May 12 – Kansas City, MO, Arvest Bank Theatre at the Midlands

May 13 – Indianapolis IN, Egyptian Roon at Old National Theatre

May 14 – Somerset, WI, Northern Invasion Fest

I would love it if more bands did a full North American tour.  If they did one show in every state & province.  The closest Canadian date is Toronto?  It would take 2 maybe 2.5 days of driving from Regina to Toronto, but this is what most “North American” tours look like.  This is an actual tour itinerary for a band that shall remain nameless.  They are situated in America.

Sat/Jan-21 – Mobile, AL

Sun/Jan-22 – Atlanta, GA

Tue/Jan-24 – Detroit, MI

Wed/Jan-25 – Chicago, IL

Fri/Jan-27 – Sioux City, IA

Sat/Jan-28 – Kansas City, MO

Tue/Jan-31 – Buffalo, NY

Wed/Feb-01- Toronto, ON

Fri/Feb-03 – Montreal, QUE

Sat/Feb-04 – Philadelphia, PA

Tue/Feb-07 – Boston, MA

Thu/Feb-09 – New York, NY

Fri/Feb-10 – Silver Springs, MD

Sun/Feb-12 – Raleigh, NC

Tue/Feb-14 – Houston, TX

Thu/Feb-16 -Las Vegas, NV

Sat/Feb-18 – Tempe, AZ

Sun/Feb-19 – Los Angeles, CA

Mon/Feb-20 -San Francisco, CA

Wed/Feb-22 – Seattle, WA

If we’re lucky someone will go through Vancouver, B.C. which is also quite the hike from Regina!  Even Canadian groups don’t even think about touring in Saskatchewan, yet In Flames, from Sweden, schedule a tour date 2 hours north in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  It’s a boring drive, but 2 or 2.5 hours in a car is better than nothing!  At the moment we’re in no shape of considering to pay for airline tickets, a hotel, & concert tickets while grabbing a meals from any type of restaurant.

Kim’s 2007 New Year’s Eve resolution was “to be a better wife”.  I found it written on a small piece of paper in our previous house.  I’ve always thought “How could she be any better?”  I’m not keeping score, that shouldn’t happen in a marriage, but if I was I’d easily be losing.  She’s AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

Don’t feel as though you have to click on every link.

Thursday evening was quite tame, 3 pints of Rebellion’s Flanders Red beer, TV shows & then to bed.  Friday was an extremely lazy day.  Laundry, I got supper & a blizzard at Dairy Queen.  Kim took me because I whined & begged.  We rented “Central Intelligence” good for a chuckle.

Saturday, Kim went grocery shopping & to the art show in the morning.  We went to my parents in the afternoon for supper later on.  My parent’s puppy, Goose, is currently 20-24oz.  A really fat hamster.  We came home just before 9:00 pm & the elevator wasn’t working.  Kim knocked on someone’s door.  He already knew & had called for the repair.  By 9:30 pm all was well & we were home.  Kim had a better idea than I did.  I figured I could do that many stairs, but we had Brewster with us which would make it tricky, Kim knocked on the door of one of the condo board members.

My mother & my cousin were hear for coffee earlier.  My cousin should be boarding her plane to go home shortly.  Iran the dishwasher, emptied it, made a juice for the week, & had a bite of canned peaches for lunch.  The rest of the day looks like I’ll be on the couch.

My exercise total will be a bit off this week.  More important stuff to do than exercise.  I still managed to do most of them.  I just don’t have it in me this week.  I’ve done a significant amount of every exercise every day, I’m REALLY tired this week?  It’s 12:30pm now & I’m ready to crawl back into bed.  Monday I did everything & hit the numbers fine, the rest of the week is somewhat disappointing to me.

I get it, I’m against free music as well, he’s made his money in the ‘90s with Oasis.  The question for me is, what if gas for your vehicle was valued at the same price as a “coffee” at Starbucks?  Would people walk more, bike, take the bus, call a cab, or complain about the price of gas?  People didn’t complain about the price of music before Napster.  Now everyone expects music to be free because of Napster.  You get a 700 ml of coffee for $5.00 we’ll say so if gas was valued at that much you shouldn’t complain?  Do you need a vehicle or a coffee?  That would make a gas price of roughly just under $6.00?

Bands that have released their first album I the 21st Century

At least they named “Trivium”, “Lamb of God”, & “The Devin Townsend Project”

Yep, Moby’s still out there doing his thing

“Band of Horses” played this on Jimmy Fallon last night.  I looked into them a bit & wasn’t sold on them.

Quiet weekend, Friday we ordered in Chinese food & watched “The Boss”. Saturday Kim had a work BBQ. I stayed home with Brewster & ate left over Chinese food with some rum & coke. Today I watched the Blue Jay game while Kim, Rachel, & Jolene made dill pickles in the kitchen. “…..you put the dill in the pickle jar you drink ’em both up…..”

RATED R!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Between Kim & I we have an iTunes account & an Apple Music account. I know that I’ve said in the past I will never touch a streaming music site. I’ve touched it, but I don’t get music from it. I look up what’s new in a particular genre. If I find something I like, I purchase it through iTunes. Apple Music is like a cheaper satellite radio, we don’t use satellite radio other than when it was free with our new vehicle. I’ll go through a few playlists on Apple Music, check out the album that catches my ear, & if I like it, I’ll buy it on iTunes. There’s a lot of stuff on there I’ve never heard of. Pretty cool to find new music right at your finger tips. I don’t get my music off of there since it can easily be taken away. What if I get tired of paying a monthly fee if there’s nothing new on there that I enjoy? I stop my subscription & lose whatever I’ve been streaming on there? So I use it, but in a different way! We each have a computer, it screws up iTunes if it’s on the same computer?

Megadeth still has a little fuel in the tank!!

Oh, I like The Devin Townsend Project!!!!!

I think Devin Townsend produce “As The Palaces Burn” by Lamb of God? Their 2nd album as Lamb of God or the 3rd album if you include the self titled debut before the name change, “Burn The Priest”. I didn’t like “Burn The Priest” at all, & I know I’m not alone on that comment.

Loud wire’s top 50 metal bands of all time. Who’s your favourite?

From the list there are quite a few. My Top 5-10 would be 1. Iron Maiden 2. Lamb of God 3. Pantera. 4. System of a down 5. Trivium 6. In Flames 7. Megadeth 8. Into Eternity 9. Third Ion 10. Dream Theater, etc. I don’t think of Tool as a “Metal band”

After Iron Maiden for me, it’s an all out tie between 15-20 bands. I listen to rock music more than metal. I guess if I just like it, I’ll listen to it. Pretty subjective “….in the end…..”

P.S. Dearest Saskatchewan Roughriders,

If you can’t guarantee a decent product on the field I can’t guarantee I’ll pay the $300 increase for season ticket holders in the new stadium next year.
