WINTER’S COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today’s workout was brought to you by “Trivium’s” ‘Silence in the Snow’ album. I’m tired this week. I’m not taking the week off, just scaling my exercise back a bit. Instead of doing 2 out of 7 exercises a day, I’ll do one this week. Today was 40 leg lifts on each leg from my hands & knees. Tomorrow will be something different, what? I don’t know?

I can tell winter is very near, not just by the calendar either! Here in Regina, Saskatchewan, with no daylight savings time (which I like), it’s quite dark by 7:30 pm. When it’s full on winter (December & January) people go to work when it’s dark & come home when it’s dark. Kim & I would carpool to work when we started at the same time. She would start at 7am, so my boss would let me come in an hour earlier than everyone else. Kim eventually changed to 8 am, so I would just come in at the same time as everyone else. The print shops we worked at weren’t that far apart in town, & our initial house wasn’t far from them. When we’d carpool in the winter it was always dark in the morning & nearing the dark when we’d come home. Thank goodness for remote car starters! Go to the kitchen window, hit the button & let the car warm up a bit! Seat warmers, I just don’t like. I didn’t have them growing up, so why do I need them now?

I’m different than most Canadians! Everybody wants to go on a warm all expenses paid resort vacation in the winter,………………..NOT ME! I hate the heat when it’s above 23 degrees celsius. Just too hot for me. That’s roughly 80 degrees fahrenheit for those not on the celsius scale. Just remember, if it’s cold I can layer up, if it’s hot I can only get so naked……………………………legally!

10 best cover songs by “Pearl Jam”. Lot’s of songs I had no idea they’d cover & a couple I’ve heard and/or have seen live.

Proof that Donald Trump is your drunk neighbour.

I can’t stand the WWE anymore. I grew out of it in the early ’90s or late ’80s. There was a claymation TV show that was pretty good though. I can’t remember, but I think I rented it as an X Box game?

Does anyone over the age of 24 even care about MTV or Much Music? Neither of the stations play music videos for more than an hour a day, from what I’ve seen on our guide?

Jared Leto on playing the role of “The Joker” in ‘Suicide Squad’

Top 5 “Arctic Monkeys” songs. I’ve heard the name but never really bothered to check them out.

Cool! Pentatonix hit number 1 on the Billboard Charts! Not bad for 5 singers with no other instruments!

The Glorious Sons…

Halloween is coming up. It just seems like extra work to dress up & go to a halloween party to me, more now than when I was in my early-mid 20s. It was fun then seem like extra work now.

“The Darkness” interviewed on Consequence of Sound/the Rock It Out Blog! I gave you 2 songs for reference & to “stir the pot” for my brother. First single from their first album & a single from their new/4th album.

This not the “Blown Wide Open” we know from ’97! This Ian Fletcher Thornley’s reworked version coming out on October 30th

This is the 1997 version we know well & have heard many times, yet it never get’s old. Both are good, it will just take me time to get used to the new version “Blown Wide Open 2.0?”

Songs I like, “Supergrass” a Greatest Hits from 1994-2004.

I wonder what song is played during the credits for this HILARIOUS movie. If you like Monty Python or Kevin Smith movies, these guys are for you!

I’m pretty sure I’ll be on a “Trivium” kick for a while with their new album leading the charge. The “Sevendust” albums seem to get better for me with each release. The “Clutch” album is really good too. I’d say my late night Thursday shopping on iTunes was nothing short of success!

I don’t think fans would care in this case or any case “Finger Eleven” were called “Rainbow Butt Monkeys” originally. They changed their name along with their drummer & sound. I don’t think a band could change their name without a change in their sound or a member change. Dave Grohl doesn’t like the name “Foo Fighters” but I don’t think a name change would matter?

Rock It Out Blog from Friday. “Kid A” was Radiohead’s 4th album & the reason I stopped being a Radiohead fan. “Pablo Honey”, “The Bends”, & “OK Computer” were the first 3 albums & they were each better, to me, with each release. “Kid A” was a very steep & uncontrolled downfall.

I would go so far a calling the 2nd & 3rd album easily among my favourite albums, not a group of amazing singles, but 2 entire albums front to back!

“Lamb of God” cover. After watching it, I still don’t know what a “hurdy gurdy” is? She plays it very well though! The name sounds like something “The Swedish Chef” from the Muppets would have in his kitchen?

Really they’re bickering over the name of a less famous Motley Crue?

“Cheer up boys! Your Makeup is Running”

I still miss Robin Williams Still my favourite movie along with “The Princess Bride”

Someone needs to say aka The President along with many other high level politicians in the USA, “OK, you can’t play nice! Hand over the guns & have a cookie or we’ll shoot you! We have guns too!” Maybe I’m just a stupid 35 year old white male in Canada but this is WAY MORE than enough!

OK, but there are more on the way & this is extremely one sided so what albums do you like?

15 years ago Saturday, Green Day released ‘Warning’

I’ll say it! Baseball players make WAY TOO MUCH MONEY!!!!!!! The Toronto Blue Jays have or had the 3rd highest payroll last year I believe at $128.000.000 That means $128 million isn’t enough money to pay for high quality players to even hope they have a chance at the playoffs?

At the moment, as the Blue Jays will start playoff baseball on Thursday, every fan is wondering if David Price will sign, likely, his last contract & finish his career as a Blue Jay. I’m not worried about that at all it’s a 50/50 chance & he’ll likely go to the highest bidder for somewhere around $30 million/year for 7 years. If he does sign with the Jays, what happens in the off season next year? Bautista & Encarnacion’s contracts are done? They’re both going to ask for more money? Who do you cut loose? Can you afford all of the players? I believe SS Tulowitzki & Catcher Russell Martin & maybe 3B Josh Donaldson are already signed for the next 4 or 5 years at $15-$25 million/year. If David Price signs with the Jays, I would think Edwin or José could end up on different team, unless the Blue Jays can just throw ridiculous amounts of money at the 2 of them?

I’ll make up some different type of pitch, play one year, win 10 games & retire with one year played for $5 million & laugh all the way to the bank!

I’ve never really understood Bill Murray’s humour

Gun control NEEDED!! Listen to his speech, see the graph/chart & learn something!

How are “Rage Against The Machine” still a band since they split in the early 2000s & have played one show in that time?

I don’t like getting caught up in politics or big issues. Do what you want, don’t hurt people physically , mentally, or emotionally. Unfortunately that’s not always the case. That is one of the reasons I don’t vote. Nothing will change over night, as much as people want it to.

Songs I like. “Sanctity” I didn’t go out looking for them, I just stumbled upon them before I had cancer? All I can see on iTunes is the album I own “Road To Bloodshed” released on April 7th 2007.

There is another “Sanctity” on iTunes, but I’m quite certain it’s not the same group. So don’t be misled!

Spotify, Google Play, Pandora Radio, iTunes, & CD stores suck at the moment. I want to own my music, so I use iTunes. That being said, who do you think is getting most of the money? Not the musicians but iTunes & the label are likely getting the bigger piece of the pie. Do you want a radio subscription until you die or do you want to go to sleep at night knowing your music is there and you own it, you’re not turning on a “radio station” to play music. You’re turning on you’re home stereo or iPod. All of that cheap music will be there no matter what. I still purchase the odd CD & as many
Blu-rays as I can fit in here. I don’t plan on having a Netflix account for the rest of my life. I’ll go to a theater, rent the movie on iTunes or just buy the movie. Free streaming sites sort of seem like a pirated product to me. Even iTunes for music isn’t all that & a bag of chips. How will a new group or artist be able to afford to go on tour if they’re broke? What if I don’t want to see them in concert? I like Taylor Swift’s “1989” album, will I go to see her in concert if she comes to a venue anywhere near me? No. I’m not huge on country music, which will likely be included in her show. I downloaded the album from iTunes. “You’re welcome! I just gave you pennies for your album that probably cost you $900+ to make”. That doesn’t sound right to me?

Yes, I have “Hoobastank”, “Iced Earth”. “In Darkness”, & “Idle Sons” I like the sound of these groups, but I couldn’t pick out one song in particular, so here’s what you’re getting today………

Another 4 day week for me! Kim has an E.D.O. on Friday & then Monday is a long weekend day in Canada, Victoria Day. I guess that’s 2 short weeks. I’ll probably post an entry on Sunday until the end of the week?

Everybody likes different music. Many people I know like either metal & nothing but metal in up to 2006. Eccentric music, pop music, my brother likes “Ace of Base”, “I Mother Earth” & “Trivium” I like ANY music that is instantly catchy be it pop, country (without the twang), soft rock, rock, classic rock, hard rock, metal & it’s sub genres, but little to no rap. The more diverse an album is, the more I enjoy it. Foo Fighters’ first 3 albums are all over the map, Big Wreck’s “The Pleasure & The Greed” Halestorm’s “Into The Wild Life” & Country music’s Zac Brown Band’s “Jekyll + Hyde” are all very diverse albums. All of that being said, an album doesn’t always have to be diverse for me. Some times I want someone just screaming at me & some times I just want to chill out.

I may not like some of them or “Ace of Base” doesn’t make it a guilty pleasure though. You like it & that’s fine with me. I don’t believe in guilty pleasures!

Songs I like. “Flatlined” this is one of the benefits of being in a band! You meet other great bands that should have made it big. Flatlined is a rock group from Ontario that we got to preform with while they were on a few cross Canada tours (3 or 4). I can get you one song from youtube & their 2 iTunes albums. What the former Megadeth members have been up to

Scott Weiland & The Wildabouts debut album. Haven’t decided if I want it or not? I just saw that it was released.

Why did Nick Menza (Megadeth drummer) quit the band?

Mick Jagger’s not thinking about retirement.

Nine Inch Nails & Carly Rae Jepsen mash up. Surprisingly fits very well

Cash Grab? I already have 6 DVDs of Star Wars. I’m not buying digital releases with more bonus videos?

Her’s what I know so far this year. In January “Smashing Pumpkins” released “Monuments to an Elegy”

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds was released in March.

Halestorm’s 3rd album will be released on April 14th.

Muse release in June

Mark Tremonti went into the studio & ended up recording 2 albums totally separate albums. We’ll at least see one of them released this year “Cauterized”

I’m assuming “Into Eternity” & “Third Ion” will each release an album this year. Both are Regina based bands.

Possibly a new Tool album as well. I’ve heard they’re in the studio?

Possibly a “Stone Temple Pilots” full album with Chester Bennington of Linkin Park on vocals. I think they have finished recording the album so I assume it will be out this year. This is from the 5 song EP they recorded with Chester.

“System of a Down” tour started last night.

Faith No More news & tour dates

My weekend was a 4 day weekend. We stayed here. Kim’s parents came to Regina but her brother had to work so we didn’t get a chance to see him. My father was ill this weekend & couldn’t make it for Easter supper on Sunday. I mostly sat on the couch. The Blue Jays regular season started yesterday & they won in New York. That doesn’t happen very often. They’re 1-0 right now but still 161 games to go. New baseball commissioner who’s added a few rules to speed up the game & maybe more to increase the offense? We had some friends with a new baby pop in for a visit who live over sea from Canada great to see them & Logan was the first child that didn’t immediately wonder why I have an eye patch. He didn’t back off, get scared or anything like that. He just wanted to suck on his sock. Weekend was pretty tame here

Songs I like. “The Darkness” I have the current 2 “Darius Rucker” albums & I like them, I was a HUGE “Hootie & The Blowfish” fan back in the day. So I’m rockin’ the unitard! WARNING IT’S HARD TO FIND ANYTHING BY THEM WITHOUT LANGUAGE!

I only have the first album & their greatest hits album. The have 2 singles from their 5th studio album on iTunes now for pre-order
