I fell asleep to “Queens of the Stone Age” the album “Rated R: DELUXE EDITION” I bought the deluxe version yesterday.  This was followed by their album “…Like Clockwork”

I exercised to “Live” the album “The Distance to Here”

Weekly exercise total; 360 pushups, 1000 leg lifts, 500 crunches, 600 tricep pushups, 200 back flexes, 500 squats.

11 days off were nice but my goodness my abs are OUTRAGEOUSLY sore, especially when I do my pushups?  I’m going to have to build up to 240 pushups.  120 is my limit right now.  I figured I try this every 48 hours thing on the pushups first to see if it helps.  My legs & abs are what I need to focus on more.  Wish I could revert to 1,500 crunches a day but that aggravated my back quite a bit.

I think this every other day thing might work?  I think next week I’ll do squats, leg lifts, & crunches on Monday, Wednesday, & Friday.  On Tuesday & Thursday I’ll do my pushups, tricep pushups & back flexes?  I’ll see what happens?

Well I hear that March of next year the iTunes store & CDs will be weaned out as an option for purchasing music, we’ll see what happens.  I still have a working 160 gb classic iPod (iPod classic can’t be used with Apple Music).  After many minor meltdowns, I still don’t know what I’ll do?  I’ll see what happens if it comes to that point & cross that bridge when I get there.  I’ve spoken with quite a few of Apple support workers & they claim to know nothing about this.  I’ve also spoken to members of signed bands who have confirmed that the iTunes store & CDs will be obsolete in the near future.

I sincerely hope streaming music folk don’t lose their music if their streaming music site goes down!

MUSIC AT THE FOOTBALL FIELD

I am so happy I don’t see a breakdown of my season ticket for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.  I know they can’t make everyone happy all of the time, I wish they would stop trying to do so.

I’m not much of a country music fan, but everybody else seems to be.  Just play country music at the games.  That will likely please 90% of the people there.  The “rock” music they play is really not worth the effort.  Country music & rap pump up music seems to please most people at the games.  I’m not there for the music, just the football game.  The one highlight for me, musically, on Thursday, July 5th was a bit of “Metallica”

Most of the 1980s rock & hair metal is not for me, most people at the games seem to tolerate it until they finish the commercial break or play country music.  “In the end” I’m not there for the music, just the game.

My bucket list…

“Muse”, “Alter Bridge”, “Nothing but Thieves”, “Paramore”, “Dead Sara”, “Bruno Mars”, “Jack Johnson”, & “The Damned Things”.  There’s probably more but that’s just off of the top of my head.

There’s a dress code at Marilyn Manson concerts now?  I’ve never been a fan of his.  I guess you must have to “Praise” him at his concerts.  If I ever see him live, I’ll take a knee!

Muse live in theaters EVERYWHERE on Thursday, July 12th!  Unless you live in Saskatchewan.

I’m still judging “Live” from the “Throwing Copper” album.  This new song “Love Lounge” is quite good from the original 4 members!

I think “Steel Panther” missed a few memos?  A) No one needs an effect pedal called “P**** Melter” if you can do well without it & not use that word ever & especially with all of the other crap going on in the world.  B) The 1980s are over, you don’t need to dress up like you fit in with bands from the ‘80s!

I fell asleep to “The Damned Things” the album “Ironiclast”

I exercised to “INXS’” Greatest Hits

Yes, I was in both.  I started University in September of 1998.  I took a year of Engineering, 2nd semester (January of 1999) was for me try & pass the classes I failed terribly, that didn’t happen for me though.  I really had no clue as to what I wanted to do.  I took one more semester starting in September of 1999.  I took random classes to see if something peaked my interest.  Nothing!

I worked at the Delta hotel from 1996 I think all the way through to the first 4 or 5 months of 2001.  My boss at the Delta was very accommodating with my schedule for school.  When I dropped out of university I worked full time, mostly at 5:00 or 6:00 am.  In the summer of 2001 I got a job at The Staples call center.  I had already been accepted to start SIAST in September of 2001.  I worked full time for that summer, then dropped my working hours to part time hours, I think I dropped them to 10 or 15 hours a week?  I know at one point, once I was in SIAST, they wanted part time workers to work a minimum of 20 hours a week.  I couldn’t do that so I quit to focus on school.  Corey McDonald started SIAST in December of 2001.

We bonded very fast for our mutual passion for chicken wings, beer, & guitar/music.  He really got me into heavier music.  I think once he started SIAST there were 5 guys in my class of 30 or so?  Kim was in that class & Corey’s wife Jolene was in that class as well.  Corey & Jolene started dating in late February of 2002.  Kim & I started dating about a week into April of 2002.  I got my first guitar for my birthday in January of 2001.  I was already singing with Dave, Rob, & Rydell in our band in University.

SOUNDGARDEN & PANTERA

University, SIAST, & later on in high school were my years to discover the music I liked & wanted to hear.  Even now, I’m discovering new bands.  Being in a band was always a great way to discover other bands from different places!  Like the group “Flatlined” from Ontario.  Nobody would have a clue who they were other than friends & fans of the last group I was in with my brother.  They were touring Canada & when they came to Regina we’d always play a show with them!

Unfortunately they have parted ways.  They were great though & there’s a good chance that whoever is reading this, 95% of you have never heard of them.

I had a CD holder that held 40 discs, wherever I went, it came with me.  Corey noticed I had “Superunknown” by his favourite band “Soundgarden” & “Pantera’s” Greatest Hits album.  He had 5 or 6 Pantera CDs he lent me & also lent me “Badmotorfinger” by Soundgarden.  I rushed out after listening to each CD once to buy my own copy of these albums.  I really liked them!

“Badmotorfinger” is my go to album when I listen to Soundgarden.  I listen to the 3 after this album just haven’t bothered to listen to the 2 before it.  I even own 1 of them on CD.  Here are the 3 CDs & 1 iTunes album I listen to & own by Soundgarden.

NOW IT’S TIME FOR SOME PANTERA!

Pantera’s guitar player was shot & killed in 2004, on stage in a club after Pantera had broken up.  His brother was the drummer for Pantera & the group “Hell Yeah” that he was playing with at the time.  I think that’s the name of the group?

I fell asleep to “Our Lady Peace” the album “Somethingness”, followed by “Metallica” the album “Load”

I forgot to charge the remote for the stereo last night.  I exercised in silence.

Weekly total, 4 day total; 800 pushups, 560 leg lifts, 400 crunches, 240 squats, 240 tricep pushups, & 160 back flexes.

I was sick Sunday night until 4:00 am or so.  Kim braved the storm for me to get some medicine.  I was fine on Monday, just really tired.  Waste of a day!

Tuesday, I was fine & got my exercises done ASAP as usual, had my typical breakfast of a hardboiled egg, veggie juice, rice cake, black coffee, & about a liter of water.  That’s breakfast for me 5 days a week.  Then I continue to drink at least 2.8 liters of water every day.  Yesterday I had just over 4 liters of water.  No wonder I pee so often?

Nobody just wakes up & decides “I think today I’ll do 200 pushups!”  It’s a slow building process.  I started off doing 30 pushups on my knees.  One day I said to myself “Let’s see if I can figure out how to do them on my feet, with my toes so curled that I can’t bend them?”  I can’t even curl my toes with my hands, so when I do pushups, it’s also a matter of balancing on my feet.  At first it was near impossible.  Now it has just become routine.

All of this exercise I’m doing is so that I can one day walk.  Remember, I’ve got the time to do this.  You likely have other priorities, kids, work, etc.  Exercising is my job, which I don’t get paid for!  Other than disability pay & insurance.

When I find something that I’m doing is up to my standards, I increase the number slowly.  Like adding 5 whatever to a set.  EVERYTHING started at a low level & slowly increased.  Nothing ever started at 8 repetitions of 25, I had to build up to that number.

I went into the hospital at 265, ate crap, gained 8” on my waist, now as of Tuesday I’m 220lbs.  Anything lower than 210 or 215 would make me look like a bag of bones!

I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I have to adapt to regular life.  Baseball is more of a mental sport where you have to think about what is going to happen & what does each player need to do.  I played third base commonly called “The Hot Corner” so I would think & then react quickly if the ball was hit in my direction.  So in that way baseball taught me how to think & adapt when needed.  I had a roughly 90’ between myself & the batter.  I didn’t know if it would be hit to me or how hard the batter would hit it?  Just react & adapt.

FOO FIGHTERS

I was slowly getting into “grunge” music, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, etc.  I went out & bought Foo Fighters’ 2nd album “The Colour & The Shape”.  I was hooked.  This was in 1998, the album actually came out in May of 1997.  They released their 3rd album in November of 1999, my Grandmother died of breast cancer on December 5th of that year.  Instead of writing a final exam in University, I would drive to Moose Jaw (45 minutes away) & back, blasting the album “There is Nothing Left to Lose”.  That’s when they became one of my 2 favourite bands.  I listened to that album twice a day (if not more) front to back.  From then on I’ve purchased all of their albums on release day.  Of course I went back after buying the 2nd album & bought the first album ASAP.  From that point on it was “What else is out there that I need to hear?”  So here’s one song from each album of Foo Fighters, in order of release….

Yes, I got the “Our Lady Peace” album last night.

I fell asleep to “Diemonds” the third album “Never Wanna Die”, then “The Damned Things”

I exercised/stretched to “Big Wreck” the album “In loving memory of”

Don’t feel as though you need to click on every link.

Remember that old mantra we learned as kids “Sticks & stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.”  Totally wrong!  A broken bone will heal in time, when you speak to someone you have to pay attention as to what you’re saying to someone new, or what might really offend a family member or friend.  “The pen is mightier than the sword!”  Still not true but much closer to reality.  A person might take words poorly, intended or not intended.  If it just comes out by mistake, you’re hooped, better start apologizing ASAP.  Hopefully the individual can let go of what was said.  Fortunately, I have great friends & family, who have forgiven me for things I said in 2011 & 2012.

I fell asleep to “In Flames” the 2000 release “Clayman”

Don’t feel as though you have to click on every link.

I couldn’t really exercise this week.  More stretching along with 300 calf raises & 300 leg lifts for the week.  Sets of 20 until I reach 60 for the day.  Yet to hear from the physio therapist.  Each passing day seems like a step backwards, & this started mid-November so I’m WAY behind!

Well I guess this is the day, the inauguration day of a terrorist.  I may live in Canada but I’m not very comfortable with Trump as the President to our direct south!  So buddy up it may be a situation of safety in numbers?  I think there were some protesters there yesterday?

I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “Sonic Highways”, “The Damned Things” their only album “Ironiclast”

Don’t feel as though you have to click on every link.

Diets, they have their place.  In the end it comes to self-control & will power.  I’m not considering ever going on a diet.  I exercise 5 days a week (not at the moment with my pinched nerve) & I watch what I eat & as far as alcohol goes 2 drink on Friday & 2 on Saturday.  Some weekends nothing at the odd celebration 3 or 4.  My meals are fairly healthy as well.  Hardboiled egg & a juice I’ve made of fruits & vegetables for breakfast, usually a fish filet for lunch or something like a chicken breast & quinoa.  Then supper which is also healthy since my wife is watching her weight as well.  We try not to keep stuff full of sugar or fat in the house, & we rarely have bread around.  We’re not the healthiest people in the world, we eat potato chips, chocolate, & other junk food.  Just everything in moderation.

For me, having survived cancer was a good wake up call.  I got lucky & got a second chance at life.  I figure I should pay close attention to what nourishment I put in my body.  I don’t eat stuff I don’t like, I try to find a healthier option.  As for exercise, I’ve got the time to do it!

I understand the need for a weight loss program but you won’t eat that way forever.  It’s more of a push in the right direction to choose your options wisely when eating or going to the grocery store.

I graduated high school in June 1998 at 185 pounds.  For me to be under 215 or 220 would look weird.  I don’t really know what I am weight wise at the moment, I’m guessing I’m still around the 230 area?  The exercise I do is more for me being more mobile & independent surviving cancer, the weight loss is more of a byproduct.

Yes, it is slightly more expensive to eat healthy but I think it’s worth it.  I’d rather die much later than sooner!

Seems like the “in” thing at the moment is to trash on anything & everything related to 2016?

Well then everybody’s going to expect a lot from 2017…………….wait………………….who knows what’s happening this year?  I didn’t have a problem with 2016 other than the political debates on every TV channel in Canada.  We got to hear all of the garbage from the debates whether we wanted to or not, & we didn’t get to vote?  Russia did, why not us?

If you liked or hated 2016 well what’s done is done, might as well live in the moment.  You can’t change the past & you don’t know what the future holds?  Live in the NOW!!!  I’m living in the now & anticipating the future.  I don’t know about anybody else, but each day feels like WWIII is getting closer?

WHAT?  The music you listen to does not define who you are!  Otherwise I’d be on the RCMP or FBI watch list!  Imagine the heat I’d get if I was a gay, transgender, bisexual, coloured & listened to metal as well as being in a wheelchair & having an eye patch.  Talk about discrimination right there!

http://loudwire.com/10-unintentionally-funny-news-reports-on-metal/

I deal with discrimination, but not nearly the amount that others do.  People see the eye patch & wheelchair & I get it, it’s not what they’re used to.  You can’t really judge people by taking a glance at someone.  ‘You can’t judge a book by its cover’.  I don’t look like a metal fan other than my T-Shirt.  I’m commonly found in shorts and a black T-Shirt with a band name most people don’t recognize.  Right there are 2 types of discrimination.  I give people some time to regroup & realize who I am, a global citizen, like everyone else.  Gay, bisexual, transgender, male, female, race, able, disabled, hobbies, etc.  When you get to the root of things, were all global citizens.  Why do we hate what’s different from “normal”?  Your normal is different from most others as well.  I like heavier music for the most part, does that mean I’m a bad person?  Why is it OK to watch people kill & injure others in mass shootings, but if you’re gay you’re labeled as a bad person in parts of the world?  Does that make sense to anyone?  I don’t get it?

Green Day’s new Trump trashing new video.

Right there, we’ve made up our minds about him.  I’m not sure if continually stooping to his level will do anything?  I’d like to see a change, but I’m pretty sure being a Canadian living in Canada, doesn’t mean I can change another countries political situation.

I’ll take “Hardwired……………….to Self-Destruct” & the odd song here & there.  I’m not a Metallica fan, but they have their place as metal God’s.

……and a sampling of these songs, NOT THE ALBUMS

The “S & M” album & one of their cover songs.

I guess I could make a playlist on my iPod, but I don’t like doing that.  I prefer a good full album.  I don’t like buying a song here and there.

Would you like to know which hard rock or metal band is playing?  This is for you if you answered “yes”.
