Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.  “Ed Sheeran”, “Alter Bridge”, “Billie Eilish”, & “The Wallflowers”

Another couple days off for the weekend to get some stuff done around here.  We did absolutely nothing Friday night.

Saturday I was tackling our iTunes again, new iPod Touch, new/different ways to make it work for me.  Apple puts out a new product, says “You’re welcome”, & leaves it up to the consumer to make it work properly.  So after an hour & ½ on the phone with Apple support, my issue was resolved & the guy I spoke with helped me figure this thing out!  We worked together on it & figured it out!  If someone is willing to spend that much time on the phone to help me with something, I’d say that’s a job well done.  He’s 37 & we have very similar tastes in music……a little bit of everything but mostly rock & metal!

Kim tackled painting one of our walls to see if it was the right colour we were thinking of.

Sunday evening Kim & Jolene headed out to Craven to see “Chris Stapleton”.  I wasted my entire day making iTunes work properly then watched the recorded Blue Jays game.  Thank goodness I ‘fixed’ iTunes, I hate doing that stuff.  Too “….hot in herre….” To stare at a computer all day.

I stayed up until 3:00 am watching season 3 of “Stranger Things” last night.  I watched episode 5 & had to finish the season, SO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!

THE BEATLES

I like the Rolling Stones, just not as much as The Beatles.  I’ve never understood why there’s a line drawn between the 2?  Are you a Beatles fan or a Stones fan?  Both!  Totally different music if you ask me.  I went to see “Our Lady Peace” on tour for their 2nd album “Clumsy”.  They played the song “Dear Prudence” & almost instantly “The White Album” became my favourite album by The Beatles.  My parents were fans of The Beatles & The Rolling Stones.

How did they write songs that had yet to be recorded?  If they remembered them the next day, it was good enough to record.  That’s what I’ve heard anyways.

I was going to give you some of The Beatles biggest hits, but you know them.  Instead I’ll dig up what I can find from the double album “The White Album”….

Music throughout the weekend.  “Kacey Musgraves”, “Chris Stapleton”, “Billie Eilish”, “Live”, “Big Wreck”, “Alter Bridge”, “Slayer”, & “Dead Sara”

Should have learned the bridge ^^ of the song in University, apparently I nailed the rest of the song vocally?  As I was told.

How was our staycation?  A nice break, other than it was HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the end I just want the plumbers to do their job & fix the A/C that hasn’t worked this year, or 5 of the last 6 years dating back to its first run in the summer of 2014.  We moved in here as 1 of the first 6 suites to be occupied in December of 2013.  Brand new living space!  Iffy air conditioner on a good day.  Our windows face south.  Even if it’s -40C outside, with the sun shining bright it will be +26C in here, minimum, with the blinds closed.  We rarely turn on the boiler heat.

We mostly stayed in Regina or at least in the Regina area.  We can’t really afford to go on a lavish vacation.  We slept in our own bed every night, so we were never far from Regina.  I’ve been eating more garbage than I should, yet my T-Shirts seem to be extra baggy this week?  Back to reality on Monday.  I didn’t exercise or even have the desire to do so.

Home football game for the Saskatchewan Roughriders last night 37 for Calgary & 10 for Saskatchewan.  So 37-10 with 2:01 left in the 4th quarter.  Everybody starts leaving.  I shout out “YOU’RE GOING TO MISS THE GREATEST COME BACK IN SPORTS HISTORY!!!  WE’VE GOT THEM RIGHT WHERE WE WANT THEM!!!”  It didn’t work ¾ of the crowd was gone & the score didn’t change, ah well.

Sorry, today has been a lot of cleaning/organizing after I boiled the eggs, Kim went shopping, then I made my vegetable juice.  Kim started cleaning, while I’ve been organizing our boxes of CDs into smaller boxes, & putting them in alphabetical order, like I kept them on our CD shelf.  Fair enough, I brought most of the roughly 600 CDs here with me.  I finished the “C” portion, & I’m done for today.  I got that far in 2 hours.

New Alter Bridge song with preorder.  Full release October 18th.

This seems to be the current trend, & it really needs to stop.  Pick any movie or TV show.  Some people have too much free time & rip it to shreds by pointing out plot holes.  Especially if it’s a work of fiction!  This is a work of fiction but the writer for Rolling Stone magazine chose to pick it apart instead of enjoying the movie as it is.

I like comic book movies, then someone will pop up & rip it apart by pointing out the plot holes?  It’s a COMIC BOOK MOVIE.  Sit back, relax, & enjoy a fictitious superhero movie.  Shh…superheroes aren’t real!

https://www.rollingstone.com/movies/movie-features/can-a-beatles-fan-believe-in-yesterday-rob-sheffield-853956/?fbclid=IwAR3-KHWwITm_mP0Nr8TEZVI-hbDcupaYuqagAKTYmqc5bS0IkaTLeP8xYY8

We saw “Yesterday” in the theater on Tuesday, July 2nd.  It was/is  FANTASTIC!

New Big Wreck video, no preorder or release date yet.

Delayed Saskatchewan Roughriders game because of lightning?  They announced it over the public address system.  Odd, in the long forgotten Taylor Field of 4 seasons ago the crowd went inside when the power went out.  Baseball just started doing this too.  Baseball used to just carry on until there was too much rain coming down that effected the players not being able to see the ball!  All of these changes in sports are for nothing!  If people (mostly millennials) aren’t watching a sport, shaving 15 minutes off of a game will do nothing, especially if they’re not watching the sport already.

If Chris Adler leaves “Lamb of God” I’ll likely have a personal moment of silence.

We spent Wednesday afternoon with my brother, at his place as he’s recovering from surgery done on his spine last week.  Show off, he’s doing well & now another person is walking before meJ.  This happens all of the time, my friends kids are always walking before meJ!

Why?  Because opening a bottle with your hands is too easy I guess?

24 years ago Thursday, July 4th, Dave Grohl released the first Foo Fighters album!

We rented “Captain Marvel” even though I plan to buy it & “Shazam” the day “Shazam” is released.  Good movie, but not as good as other Marvel movies.

CORROSSION OF CONFORMITY

Sort of metal & sort of rock.  I think you’d call them “stoner metal”.  One of the subgenres of metal that I don’t like using.  For me it’s just metal.  I have 8 of their albums, there are more, I only listen to 5 of them though.  I don’t plan on purchasing any future releases of theirs.  I got into them by a suggestion of a friend.  I think he’s done with them now also.  The 5 albums I like by them tend to get more air time here than I first thought.

1991   BLIND

1994   DELIVERANCE

1996   WISEBLOOD

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

5 day exercise total; 600 leg lifts, 450 crunches, 450 squats, 300 back flexes, 400 curls, 140 tricep lifts w/5 pound weight, 140 shoulder raises w/5 pound weight,  stretching, & yoga.

Including the above exercises, here’s what I’ve done so far this year.  1275 curls, 7240 pushups, 15600 leg lifts, 10100 crunches, 4140 tricep lifts (the old way), 10280 squats, 7100 back flexes, 3900 tricep extensions w/weights, & 140 shoulder raises.

I fell asleep to “Eve 6” the album “Horrorscope”

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I exercised in silence at 6:00 am, busy day!

2 things I’ll be changing next week.  No tricep lifts without weights.  Also 200 pushups a week.  Everything else will stay as it is, for now.

The weights I use aren’t incredibly heavy.  For curls I use a 10 pound weight.  For the other weight exercises I use a 5 pound weight.  I always do more repetitions with my left arm since it’s the weaker arm.  I try not to eat breakfast before I exercise, but on occasion I wake up hungry, so I have my 2 hardboiled eggs & half of a glass of my vegetable juice.  Breakfast is the same every day.  Lunch is as well turkey deli meat in a lettuce wrap, or a piece of fish.  3-5 liters of water throughout the day.

Now when I do my exercises on Tuesdays & Thursdays, it takes me at least 1 ½ hour to 2 hours.  I do a LOT of stretching, & a LOT of weight work.  I do yoga for 30-45 minutes, 30 minutes minimum.  There are many yoga poses I can’t do at the moment.  There’s only 3 poses I can do.  I hold them for as long as possible though.

Life has been busy this week.  I really have to plan a time to do my exercises or do 2 days of exercise in one.  I guess that’s a good thing though.  Getting back to reality & changing up my routine, instead of just exercising & sitting on my butt.

Today was my first appointment with a psychiatrist.  Two of my pill prescriptions changed, & I’ll be referred to a therapist.  I told them my life story basically.  I have a future appointment of course & they’ll see how I’m doing with the prescription changes over the phone likely before my next appointment.

No word on our new vehicle, so I’m guessing by Wednesday we might hear something.  It’s also pouring rain here, yesterday & today.  Seems like a weekend to stay indoors.  I hear that even Swift Current, about 2 hours west of Regina flooded “yesterday”.

Lamb of God talk about gear theft & new album.

Can everybody please just stop with the Nickleback sucks comments already?  They’re more than likely someone’s favourite band!  They have over 16,000,000 followers on Facebook.  I’m not a fan, but I do enjoy 2 of their albums.  If you really can’t stand them, turn off your radio, don’t stream or download their music.  If you’re in a restaurant or bar, wait 5 minutes & you might hear something you like?  Get over it, I have to get over other bands too.  Nickleback are going to continue making music until they want to stop, & they’ve made a career doing that.  Have you?  Well until you can outsell the amount of albums they’ve sold, calm down & take a deep breath.  Nothing is going to change just for you!

I think I also saw that the iTunes pre-order would be on June 28th, a week from today!

EVERGREY

Another prog-metal band.  Or progressive metal band, much like “Dream Theater” if they made songs that averaged 4:30 minutes instead of an average of 6:30 minutes.  I have 4 of their many album from iTunes.  I like them quite a bit on the rare occasion that I listen to them, great band though.  I assume they’re American, but I’ve never bothered to look them up.  I’ll just give you a sampling of the 4 albums I have.

“Recreation Day”, “The Inner Circle”, “Glorious Collision”, & “Hymns for the Broken”.  Released in that order.  The songs will also follow the order of release.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music from this weekend!  “Greta Van Fleet”, “Nothing But Thieves”, “Live”, “A Perfect Circle”, “Coheed and Cambria”, & “Halestorm”

Really quiet here.  I realized on Friday I had some other TV shows recorded on our PVR.  I watched them & one episode of “Making a Murderer” before Kim got home.  She had many TV shows to watch on the PVR, of course we watched “The Elle Degeneres Show” first, as usual.

Saturday I moved from our bed to our couch & kitchen.  Cereal, yogurt & rum, TV (not all at the same time) later on.  Then 4 episodes of “Making a Murderer”.  Kim is sort of watching it too.

Today, Kim got up & went for coffee with Jolene.  The 4 of us met each other in SIAST.  Corey & Jolene were engaged a week or 2 before us & married roughly 4 months after us.  Really good people, great friends, & awesome parents to our “niece” & “nephew”.

Went over to our friends’ place this afternoon, Chris & Laurie’s for an afternoon visit, also really good people, friends, & they also have 2 cool kids.

Now it’s get ready for the week time.

Review of “Greta Van Fleet” & “The Struts”.  The Struts’ 2nd album is not actually out until October 26th.

“Queen”

“Led Zeppelin”

That’s why ‘Physical Graffiti’ is my favourite LZ album

“The Beatles”

I saw ‘Our Lady Peace’ cover this, & now ‘The White’ album is my favourite ‘Beatles’ album!

Stevie Wonder’s ‘Songs in the Key of Life’ is easily my favourite Stevie Wonder album.  I should just add this song to it…

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thursday evening we did nothing but watch TV.  So far we’ve mostly been binge watching “The Fosters” on Netflix.  If you liked “Parenthood” or like “This is us”, “The Fosters” are probably right up your alley!  We’re somewhere in the 2nd season of 5.  There are 20-22 episodes each season with roughly 50 minute episodes.

Friday we went to my parents’ place to celebrate my mom’s birthday which was actually on August 25th.  BBQ burgers, hot dogs, & corn on the cob & birthday cake for dessert.

I don’t think we could be any lazier if we tried on Saturday!  Ordered in supper & watched Netflix.  I also slept until 11:30 am, after going to bed around midnight.

Labour Day Classic in Regina on Sunday & we won.  I had never tried to eat an entire 2 foot long hot dog, but there’s a first for everything.  Finished my hot dog before 3:00 minutes into the first quarter of the game.  Washed it down with an overpriced beer.  Yes, the Roughriders won 31-23.  Quite the entertaining game right down to the last minute & a half.

Came home after the game, had supper & watched a couple of episodes of “The Fosters”.  Yes, I still had room for supper after the 2 foot long hot dog.

Another lazy day on Monday.  Ordered in supper again & watched some more Netflix.

My new wheelchair should be here today.  I was going to hit the road with my dad, that’s not happening due to circumstances out of our control.  Keep that voice in good shape Mr. Grohl!

Concert video & album out on Friday September 7th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 Song EP from Nothing but Thieves out October 29th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Muse album out November 9th!!!!!!!!!!!

Donald J. Trump is the definition of “Money Can’t Buy You Love”

NO DOUBT

Remember when “ska” was all the rage in the ‘90s?  I thought the entire thing was a nice change to the grunge music.  There were many ska groups to follow.  I only followed No Doubt’s career though.  I didn’t have the desire to follow the entire ska scene.  I have 4 of their 6 albums.  There are 2 before their breakout album “Tragic Kingdom” but I don’t have them.  I think my brother has 1, but I’m not sure?  There was a period a few years ago when I listened to No Doubt & nothing else.  Things always change though.

1995   TRAGIC KINGDOM

2000    RETURN OF SATURN

2001    ROCK STEADY

Yes, Nickelback’s album “The State” I enjoy once in a while.  I don’t need anymore.  I had 3 CDs & gave 2 of them to my aunt in Alberta.  Hate them if you want but they’ve put in the work to get to where they are.  I wouldn’t call myself a BIG fan, but Nickelback has their place in the current music scene!

Friday ended with me doing dishes, running the dishwasher, & vacuuming.  Kim picked up some steaks to BBQ, then we watched the last 4 episodes of “The Ranch” on Netflix.  I started watching the baseball game right after.  Kim pipes up “Hey, let’s watch the rest of The Ranch”, I reply “We did, it’s done.  We finished the 5th season.”

She’ll leave her phone on the arm of the couch to do some stuff in the kitchen.  Someone will text, email or Facebook something, I’ll tell her or move it away.  It vibrates the entire couch, drives me nucking futz.  If I wanted a vibrating couch we’d likely have one, not a cell phone.

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  & SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday we were boring.  Laundry, cleaning & some sitting around watching www.youtube.com clips, like this almost 24 minute video.  Followed by supper & a baseball game.

Went out this afternoon to hang out with Chris, Laurie & their 2 kids.  Grabbed a few groceries for supper.  Then I’ll watch the Jays game well Kim finish’ her weekly spring cleaning.

METALLICA’S “HARDWIRED……TO SELF-DESTRUCT”

I used to just demolish Metallica whenever I heard a song or mention of their name, but no more, other than the album “St. Anger” which has 0 production of any kind.

This album was released in 2016.  I was 36 at the time.  Their first album “Kill em All” was released in 1983.  “Hardwired” was the first album I enjoyed of theirs.  Only took Metallica 33 years to release something I liked.  I had about 3 of their CDs & iTunes downloads.   The album with the symphony was decent, I didn’t listen to it much though.  I had “The Black Album/Self-Titled” album & “Master of Puppets”.  The first band I played in, everyone else was a fan of Metallica.  That’s why I had those 2 CDs.  I found “Hardwired” to be a ‘gateway’ album into the rest of their catalogue.  I now have all of their studio albums, & the live album with the San Francisco Symphony.  I do enjoy the albums I’ve heard so far.  I just need to listen to “…And Justice for All” & of course “St. Anger” sounds terrible due to the severe lack of production.

“Hardwired” was the album that grabbed me & made me finally pay attention.  I still think they’re over rated, but very talented.  Name another metal band that gets FM radio play as much as Metallica?

I’d say in the last 15-20 years my musical taste has changed drastically, listening to more heavy stuff.  I just find it easier to accept & listen to.  I can either ‘unplug’ & enjoy it or really think about what each musician is doing.

I always thought “Anthrax” was the perfect mix of metal & punk music, & they’re great.  This “Metallica” album does it really well.  It sounds nothing like “Anthrax”, just a different take on those influences.  Here’s one “Anthrax” tune followed by a few tracks from Metallica’s “Hardwired”

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “The Beatles” the album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” followed by “Metallica” the album “Hardwired………..to Self-Destruct”

Friday ended with me drinking alone & watching the Toronto Blue Jays vs. the Cleveland Indians.  Both had the same win-loss record starting the game which the Blue Jays won 8-4.  The Jays are now 9W-5L.

Saturday we woke up before 8:00 am.  I rolled over & asked Kim what time it was, too early.  Grabbed my iPod Classic, which I’ve almost decided will not be replaced when it dies, then we went back to sleep & I put my iPod back on.  Saturday evening was my dad & brother’s birthday supper at my parent’s place.  Supper, brownies for Mitch, & a Chocolate Extreme Blizzard cake from Dairy Queen for dad.  Good times that went a bit longer than expected.  By 10:00 pm we were all a bit tired & cleared out fast.

The Blue Jay game Saturday in Cleveland was rained out.  Today’s is supposed to be rained out as well.  3 players are currently injured so collectively that’s $54,000,000 worth of players sitting on the bench & the short stop might have a career ending injury.  His contract runs out at the end of the 2020 season.  Teams have insurance incase this type of thing happens.

Typical Sunday for us, getting ready for the week ahead, laundry, groceries, make a vegetable juice, bake some fish, hard boil some eggs, etc.  I’ve got the “American Country Music Awards” recording for Kim.  How on earth did I get stuck with a country music fan?  Country & music don’t even belong in the same sentence most of the time.  Oh wait she HAWT, smart, funny, she loves me, etc.  I do like the Dixie Chicks though.

I don’t play my music when she’s home & she usually does the same.  I find it funny that country “music” has to have it’s own award show, because it doesn’t fit in with the cool kids.  Hahahahahaha!

Before I get into this I should say that “Live’s” albums “Throwing Copper” & “The Distance to Here” are legendary albums for me.

The first band I was in while in University played most of “Lightning Crashes” once in rehearsal, but none of us knew the bridge of the song.  We stopped at the bridge & just never bothered to learn it or play it again, we should have.

2002

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE & FOO FIGHTERS

I got into “Queens of the Stone Age” when they released their 3rd album “Songs for the Deaf” in 2002 with Dave Grohl on drums for all of the songs & a short tour afterwards.  I was already into Foo Fighters, so to see Dave on drums in a “Queens” video was big for me.  I bought the album ASAP.  I listened to it a LOT & soon bought the previous 2 albums, I was hooked.  I was in SIAST but the “Queens” stuff was in a low tuning.  I learned some of it, but it was just a hassle to switch tunings on my guitar for “Queens” stuff & regular tuning for rehearsal.  Foo Fighters released their 4th album on Kim’s birthday that year in October.  Not their best album but also not their worst, but I’m biased when it comes to Foo Fighters……….

Dave Grohl played drums on this album & Elton John played piano on at least a few songs!

Godsmack is still around?  I didn’t even know?  I was never a fan though anyways.

Top 10 Tool songs according to Watchmojo.com.  I wouldn’t put them in any category, especially metal.

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!         Any Tool fan that enjoys marijuana, doesn’t need to bring any to a Tool show, the rest of the audience will get you high on second hand smoke & the crowd also doubles as a fog machine for the band.

I think this guy is over a decade younger than me.  Although he says this ranking of “Muse” albums are just his opinion.

For me it would be “Showbiz”, “The Resistance”, “Drones”, “The 2nd Law”, “Origin of Symmetry”, “Absolution”, & finally “Black Holes & Revelations”.  I guess our opinions aren’t that far off after all.

The more you share this, the more readers I get.  No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.
