I fell asleep to “Black Sabbath” the album “Black Sabbath” followed by “Foo Fighters the album I recorded from the radio station when I was 20 “Live from Montreal 2000” followed by “Greta Van Fleet” their only album “From the Fires” X 2, “Devin Townsend Project” the album “Transcendence” & finally “In Flames” the album “Sounds of a Playground”

Yeah, I was wide awake until 3:15 am, despite going to bed a 10:15 pm.  My mind was racing.  Anything I could pretend to stress about, I did so.  Why?  I don’t know.

I exercised to “Stone Sour” the album “Hydrograd”

Weekly exercise total for a 5 day week.  750 pushups, 500 crunches, 540 leg lifts, 250 squats, 540 triceps pushups, & 200 back flexes.  I was playing with the numbers this week.

Yes, every morning starts with me doing exercise, even over the holidays I just did 3 of my exercise, & stopped for a few days.  I’ve been back to 6 & 2 mystery exercises I’ll tell you about near the end of the year.

When Kim came home on Wednesday she brought up the mail.  Behold another 3 months of a prescription (from my family doctor who also was one of my doctors during my entire cancer scare) for low level in my Thyroid.  One day I just want to be a “normal” or as close to a “normal” person.  Just one day, without having to take pills.  I’m OK with my wheelchair for now & I’m fine with having an iPatch.

I guess I’m getting older, I’ll be 38 next week.  I’ve been taking medication for EVERYTHING & I’m just tired of doing that but I know that’s something I NEED to do.  I’ll be done my anti-biotics, for an apparent bladder infection, on the weekend.  Likely tomorrow I’ll start 3 months of pills for my Thyroid.  Those pills better help me lose weight!!!!

On the upside I’ve added 6 or 10 T-Shirts that fit me now this week.  There’s my “Opeth” shirt that I could wear if I wanted to show my belly off.  I believe it has shrunk in length A LOT.

Now I have a 4th concert I don’t want to miss, my brother will see it too.  No date, but they mentioned coming to Regina.  Finger Eleven & I Mother Earth.  Hopefully it’s on a weekend but if it’s not, I’ll be there with my younger but bigger brother.  They mention other nooks & crannies across Canada as well.  Worst case scenario, we’ll have to go to Saskatoon (I’m sick of that boring drive, 2.5 hours but it feels like 8 hours) bigger venue there though.

I think this is the 20th anniversary of Finger Eleven’s debut album?  My brother is a huge fan of both bands.  I love I Mother Earth, & I like Finger Eleven.

With “Slayer” retiring I’d throw “Trivium” or “Lamb of God” into the big 4

http://loudwire.com/dave-mustaine-hopes-for-at-least-one-more-big-4-show-before-slayer-retires/

Yep, I bought the new “Fall Out Boy” album.  I’ll review it on the “Weekend Update” post.

Wow, some people are dumb!  It’s called a “Wall of Death”, sure that’s a great place for a baby?????????????????!!!!!!

Seth Myers interview with Saturday Night Live Weekend Update hosts Colin Jost & Michael Che.

When “Slayer” retires, Kerry King should learn to solo in key!  There’s 1 added to the list, actually at the top of his list!

http://loudwire.com/6-things-kerry-king-slayer-retires/

Elton John has said he’s doing a farewell tour, but said he’ll possibly be recording?

Do yourself a favour if you like “Lynyrd Skynyrd” & “Led Zeppelin” by checking out.

“Greta Van Fleet” their debut album of 8 songs released in November!

I bought this on Thursday & I can’t stop listening to it.  The singer, at times, sounds just like Robert Plant of “Led Zeppelin” & depending on the song the band sounds as though “Led Zeppelin” & “Lynyrd Skynyrd” had a baby.  There’s your review for that album since it only has 8 songs on it

I fell asleep to “Devin Townsend Project” the album “Transcendence”, followed by “U2” the album “Songs of Experience” & finally “Trivium” the album “The Sin & The Sentence”

I exercised to “Pink” the album “Beautiful Trauma”

“So far so good” this week!  I seem to have more energy this week than usual.  I’ve been playing around with the numbers of repetitions I do with a couple of exercises, adding not subtracting.

I got a call Monday morning from my doctor’s office saying they needed a urine sample.  I wasn’t thinking.  I called Kim & realized we gave it to the lab on Sunday instead of Friday when I gave the blood sample.  They’ve got my sample from Sunday.  I had to give another Tuesday evening.  Really good/nice people just REALLY frustrated that these minor inconveniences are now part of my life.  All of that being said, this beats the worst alternative.

I’m a Canadian living in Canada.  Whatever the orange guy south of us says has no effect on me anymore.  He’s nothing more than a racist that craves attention.  Remember that car hitting a crowd in Charleston?  He said he’d rather be called racist than wrong.  Mr. President, those 2 words fit together very well & come hand in hand.

Great news when the Pope is worried about nuclear war.

https://ca.yahoo.com/news/pope-warns-world-one-step-away-nuclear-war-115741315.html

I guess I’ll miss 1 BIG concert this year & that’s fine getting to see the others will be FANTASTIC!  I’ll miss “Stone Sour” with “Halestorm” oh well.  I don’t see either band calling it a career anytime soon.  They are playing in Saskatoon on February 4th, yeah a Sunday……..BOO.  The other ones totally make up for it though!  Money tree is bare due to the other concerts, that & I’m not sure who would come with me to that one?  No big deal though!  If I had to miss a concert this year, that would be the one.

No matter who it is or how it sounds, it should be better live!  If it’s not I write them off & forget about seeing them live or purchase the odd album.  I’ll never see Taylor Swift live & that’s fine with me.  I only purchased her pop album “1989” since it was really catchy & not country.  Country music & I don’t mix just like water & oil.

With the exception of the latest “Foo Fighters” album, the bands I like, especially Foo Fighters, like to sound the same recorded as they do live.  Many members of the many bands I like seem to all share that sentiment.

“Corrosion of Conformity” REVIEW

It’s exactly as this reviewer said…

She seemed to like it more than I do.  It’s a lot like “Anthrax”, I don’t love it & I don’t hate it.  It’s good!  I’d give it 3 out of 5.  It reminds me quite a bit of “Kyuss”.  I see myself listening more to their earlier albums like “Wiseblood”, “Deliverance”, “In the Arms of God”, & “America’s Volume Dealer”.

Here’s a “Kyuss” tune from my preferred album of theirs “Blues for the Red Sun”

The Blue Jays did something but I wouldn’t think this is all.  They signed a 37 year old outfielder for $5,000,000 for 1 year to platoon with a left or right fielder.  At minimum they still need a fifth starting pitcher & hope there are 0 injuries.  In other words, I’m still not impressed.  “Hello 28th place in the entire MLB.  Haven’t seen you since last season!”

TOP 10 ALBUMS OF 2017/FINAL POST OF THE YEAR/WEEKLY EXERCISE TOTAL

600 pushups, 500 leg lifts & 225 triceps pushups!  Crunches & Back flexes will be thrown into the mix on January 2nd.  120 pushups, 100 leg lifts, 100 crunches, 45 triceps pushups, & 40 back flexes a day, 5 days a week.

I can’t really make a top 10, there were a TON of AWESOME albums released this year.  Singles, live albums, Greatest Hits & EPs don’t count.  So here they are, & after the first 2, everything is pretty much tied for 3rd.  It’s only a top 10 list with other albums below that didn’t quite make the cut.

After this, I’ll catch you January 1st, with a holiday update.

  1. Kelly Clarkson – Meaning of Life. Her 7th studio album, not including her Christmas album.

  1. Halflives – Empty Rooms. Their first album.

  1. Trivium – The Sin & the Sentence. Their 8th studio album

  1. Ed Sheeran – Divide. His 3rd studio album

  1. Royal Blood – How Did We Get so Dark? Their 2nd studio album

  1. Queens of the Stone Age – Villains. Their 7th studio album

  1. Big Wreck – Grace Street. Their 5th studio album.

  1. Foo Fighters – Concrete & Gold. Their 9th studio album.  Once I got past the over production on the album, I REALLY enjoy this album

  1. Paramore – After Laughter. Paramore’s 5th album

  1. Nothing but Thieves – Broken Machine. This was their second release & much like the first release, it’s my favourite album of the year.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Stone Sour – Hydrograd.  I’m just hooked on their 2nd, 3rd, & 4th album.  This is album number 6 for them.

Alter Bridge – B-Sides & Rarities w/ a double album Live at the 02 Arena

In Flames – Down, Wicked, & No Good 4 song EP of cover songs

Yes, Chris Izsak’s hit from the ‘90s

Ascot Royals – New Skin EP.  They opened for Big Wreck in February

The Watchmen – Live & in Stereo.  21 live songs from a show in Winnipeg (their home town) at The Burton Comings Theater.

Pentatonix – 4 EP.  They’re 7 cover songs on the EP done by the A Capella group.

It also has a cover of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” but it’s just OK.

Barenaked Ladies – Fake Nudes.  An album released November 17th that will likely grow on me.

Alice Cooper – Paranormal.  Good album that was just missing something for me?  I can see this growing on me too

ALBUMS I BOUGHT BUT WASN’T HOOKED ON THEM OR I JUST HAVEN’T LISTENED TO ENOUGH

Linkin Park – One More Light

Muse – Dig Down Single

Jack Johnson – All the Light Above it Too

Prophets of Rage – Self-titled.  A bit too much on the rap side for me, but not bad.

I have a short list of albums to purchase from 2017.

Pink – Beautiful Trauma

U2 – Songs of Experience

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Who Built the Moon?

The Devin Townsend Project – Transcendence

I’ve already checked out a few that aren’t listed here & didn’t make the cut.

7 albums to be released in 2018 I’ll check purchase from iTunes if I like them.

Myles Kennedy – Year of the Tiger

A Perfect Circle – TBA

Corrosion of Conformity – No Cross No Crown

Fall Out Boy – MANIA

Halestorm – TBA

Dream Theater – Into the Great Divide

Tremonti – TBA

Merry Christmas!

Happy Holidays!

Enjoy some time off of work!

I fell asleep to “Barenaked Ladies” the new album “Fake Nudes” followed by “In Flames” new 4 song EP of cover songs “Down, Wicked & Not so Good”, then their album “Siren Charms”

So, no worries, all is well!  I just needed a day away from my regular routine.  Got back to my exercise & such the next day.  So only 3 days of exercise this week.  I couldn’t quite make it to the Christmas break to relax, I’m confident I can now though.  300 pushups, 300 leg lifts, 300 crunches, 180 triceps’ pushups, & 120 back flexes.  I need to do some cardio!  Funny thing is that when I was using an exercise bike 3 days a week, my exercise therapist would take my heart rate before & after 30-45 minutes.  It was 98 per minute before & after weird?  One day it went up to 108 after a session.  “Are you OK?” she asked.  I said “Yep, I’m fine!” it wasn’t a big deal to me.  I wasn’t breathing heavily or sweating at all, I was fine

I was watching “The Flash” TV show & learned something during it, since I used to think the same way oddly enough, “Why me?”  Then he answered his own question, “Why not me?” I’m not super or a hero, but I can deal with this situation.  Sure, I’ll have the odd bad day like anyone else.  In the end I’d rather be the one in my situation than watch anyone else go through this, it’s not terrible though I’m alive!  I’ve got a lot of support & that’s all I need.  So, hold my beer & watch this!

The connection from my computer iTunes to our stereo is out of whack still.  The only way I can listen to music through our stereo is if it’s NOT in my library.  I have to use our Apple Music account & not put anything in my library.  Believe it or not that really bothered me.

I had a mini-melt down Monday evening.  iTunes just went to shreds on me, & I was feeling a TON of stress regarding the Christmas season.  I spend my cash on 3 things, iTunes, concerts, concert merchandise & alcohol when I’m out of everything.  It’s nowhere close to what I used to spend on alcohol.  12 beer a month & 3 or 4 bottles of hard liquor 4 times a year.  I don’t drink at the football games because it is $9 for a regular size can of generic pilsner.  I can purchase a case of 15 pilsner cans for the house for $18 if I wanted to (which I don’t).

When the CFL is done with their contract to Molson Brewery.  I hope the teams can bring in local craft breweries (like the Roughriders intended with the new stadium).

Drummer, Bill Ward of Black Sabbath, hospitalized for heart issues, but is in good spirit & is recovering.

http://loudwire.com/black-sabbath-bill-ward-hospital-cancel-day-of-errors-tour/

Charles Manson died on the weekend as well.  Now Americans can rest assured that their taxes aren’t going towards keeping him alive.

Well we lost AC/DC rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young last weekend.  I hope this isn’t the end of AC/DC for the fans out there.  I’m not an AC/DC fan, I’m a Motorhead fan.  However you know what you’re getting when you purchase either one of these bands albums.  I just prefer the sound of Motorhead.  Here’s Muse doing AC/DC’s “Back in Black” with singer Bryan Johnson of AC/DC.

A handful of concerts I’d love to go to but the money tree is bare & some are just bad timing for others to go.  I’ve never seen Queens of the Stone Age live, & they’re touring with Royal Blood as their opener.  I’ve also never seen Stone Sour or Halestorm live.  I am going to Big Wreck’s 20th anniversary of their first album “In loving memory of….” though!

These 2 above are making their way to Saskatoon, but it’s a Sunday.  It’s a co-headlining tour with 2 or 3 other bands opening for them.

I’ve also never seen Queens of the Stone Age live.  It’s May long weekend & many people are busy or just aren’t a fan of their new album & have decided that driving to Alberta or Manitoba isn’t worth it.

Stone Temple Pilots first performance of the new song “Meadow” with new singer Jeff Gutt.

Friday ended with Kim’s boxing charity www.kissthecanvas.com.  I’m not a boxing fan, it was very entertaining though.  I didn’t like the way she stumbled after a beating.  I think my mom just cringed the entire 3 rounds, each 90 seconds.  Saturday was very quiet for us.  We sat around doing the bare minimum.  Eat, drink water, washroom, & not much else.  We didn’t even make it to 11:00 pm!

Watched the CFL Eastern & Western finals at my parents place.  The Saskatchewan Roughriders lost & so did the Edmonton Eskimos.  So the Grey cup game next Sunday will be the Toronto Argonauts vs. the Calgary Stampeders.  I have no reason to watch the game next week.  If I had to choose.  Go Toronto Go!  I think anybody/almost everybody will be cheering for Toronto, who would be considered the underdog in this case.

Kim has tomorrow off.  I’m thinking that’s a good idea for me too.

New “Paramore” video!!!!!!!!!

This is the actual “Queens of the Stone Age” video I can never find

Can we just ban him from everything?  Maybe tape his mouth shut?

I did it, & I shouldn’t have.  I found another concert I would enjoy.  Stone Sour & Halestorm with guests February 4th 2018.  Stupid money tree is bare still.

I fell asleep to “Trivium” the album “In Waves”, followed by “Alter Bridge” the album “Live at the 02 Arena”

I exercised to “Our Lady Peace” the album “Naveed” from 1995

400 crunches, 400 pushups, 400 leg lifts, 160 back flexes,  80 triceps pushups, 20 minutes of planking.

Turns out that Kim has Friday off, so this is another 4 day week for me.  My day always begins the same way, exercise, breakfast, shower, & then my “retired” life starts unless there’s stuff to do around the house.  Depending on how much energy I have, I get to the couch between 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm.  My voice is better but not great.  Some people can’t understand me.  If you see me in person just ask me to repeat myself.  I’d rather have you ask me what I said rather than nod your head & smile.  I’ll be patient, you’re not the first person that’s had problems understanding me.  It is a great way to get rid of telemarketers though!  They get so frustrated that they hang up on me!

THAT’S ALL FOR THE CANCER TALK FOR NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, Trivium is the only metal album I’m purchasing this year, unless another group I like drops a surprise album.

STONE SOUR

Stone Sour includes the vocalist/front man/singer of the metal group ‘Slipknot’.  Stone Sour is more of a “hard rock” band with metal tendencies.  This is their 6th full length studio album after 2 Eps & a Slipknot release.  Here’s a single from the first 5 albums, in order.

I don’t listen to them often.  Great band, but I have to shift gears quite a bit between songs.  Extremely varied songs on each album.  I like albums to be that way, but these guys take the cake.  Rock, metal, slow ballad, hard rock, etc.

I thought this latest album would make me a HUGE fan of theirs.  I am more of a fan, but this album didn’t push me over the edge like I expected it to.  Still a good album though!

I fell asleep to “Stone Sour” the album “Hydrograd”

I exercised to “Ben Harper” 8 albums on shuffle

YAY……………………NOT!  Tuesday was back to reality & the normal everyday grind.

I thought briefly about starting a record/vinyl collection & quickly realized that would be a terrible idea for me.  The cost alone is something we can’t afford.  Then I’d have to find a place to keep the albums.  All of that hassle for us, just to buy vinyl albums, iTunes is fine with me.  Especially now that I’ve figured out what bands/artists I’ll pre-order & who I’ll wait to check out on Apple Music.  I don’t agree with free music (for myself) you get it however you like.  I don’t like the fact that musicians spend so much on studio time only to receive pennies on a streaming site?  I don’t get how someone woke up one day & decided musicians should work for free?  Great for the consumer, terrible for the musicians.

If you’ve made your millions as a musician this shouldn’t matter as much as it does for a new musician trying to rise to fame.  Either way, it just seems wrong to me?

My last 2 weeks (maybe more) of physiotherapy, before my final test, were outside in the park.  Learning to sit on a blanket.  It was in July, my back was soaking wet with sweat because it took a lot of energy.  Get out of my wheelchair & get back into it.  To make matters worse, that’s when a bird missed the target on my head & pooped on my shoulder.

My final “test”/physiotherapy session was out of my chair onto the floor.  Crawl over 1 obstacle, 10 pushups on my knees.  Crawl over a 2nd obstacle, 10 crunches, crawl over a 3rd obstacle, return to my wheelchair repeating the exercise on the way back.

THAT’S ALL FOR WHAT’S ON MY MIND & CANCER TALK!  HERE COMES THE POPCULTURE STUFF!

Then, next Friday

And finally on Friday October 20th

I’m sure there will be more that will pop up out of nowhere between September 15th & October 20th.  This would break us if I bought each of these on vinyl.  Halestorm was rumored to be releasing an album this year…who knows?

Might as well start your complaining now.  I’ll see it & likely buy it when it’s released on Blu-ray.

Entertaining clips just because I can!

The Ellen Degeneres Show began on Tuesday & hit a nerve for me, an important one.  The terrible event in Charlottesville.

To the Nazis, KKK, & racist group.  You are “religious” not truly religious.  I don’t know what book you’re reading, it’s probably the same book that international terrorists are reading & misinterpreting.
