Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

5 days of exercise total; 400 pushups, 600 leg lifts, 300 crunches, 300 tricep lifts, 450 squats, 300 back flexes.

Our universal remote is doing sketchy stuff again on the charger.  I listen to 2 or 3 albums last night so I’ll use them here I guess.

I fell asleep to “Into Eternity” the album “The Sirens”, “Lenny Kravitz” the album “Mama Said”, & “Lenny Kravitz” his “Greatest Hits”

There were 2 things I was terrified of while I was in the WRC.  1 near the beginning of 2009 & the other near the end of thing in 2012.  A tilt table & then a wobble board, both a part of my occupational therapy

My 2 therapists would come to my room & have me lay on the tilt table.  A small step to “stand” on at one end for my feet & nothing else but Velcro straps for my ankles, legs, waist, & chest.  Once I was strapped in they’d tilt the table from 180 degrees to 90 degrees so I was in a standing position.  I remember the one time I was freaking out, my occupational therapist said “That’s only 70 degrees?”  I replied “That’s enough for me!”  I was SO glad that only lasted a few weeks.  She’d bring a bouncy ball to play catch with while I was upright.  I think I made it to 90 degrees eventually?

The other one was called a wobble board, to activate my abs.  Even after the 1,000s of crunches & leg lifts I still don’t think I could do that.  It’s a board you sit on but on the bottom it’s not flat, it’s half of a ball.  She’d raise the table so my feet weren’t touching the ground.  Then she would go behind me & randomly push or pull me in different directions.  All about working on my abs so they’d kick in & help me stay upright, no, my hands were not allowed to touch anything.  I hated that thing, I would go to the therapy room & immediately beg her to not do the wobble board that day.  I was still fairly weak at that point, but she never let me fall.

So they’re just making a “better” mouse trap for streaming music?

Is Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee angry or broke?

New track from the upcoming “In Flames” album “I, The Mask”

The music industry is the scientist & we’re the lab rats.  Stop trying to be like everyone else by buying the other companies & maybe try taking a different path, that way you might learn something?  I don’t think many people are happy with the status quo?

“The group that grunge forgot” says singer Billy Corgan.  Is that necessarily a bad thing?  If so, why?  He’s still a working musician, probably making more money than he needs, with less fan fair.  You’d think it would be nice in that situation?  If you’re a working musician making music that you like, great!  You shouldn’t need/want to be the center of attention all of the time.  If you like what you’re doing & millions of other people do, that’s more than enough right there.

I don’t think I have all of their albums but I have quite a few?

1991   GISH

1998   ADORE

2000   MACHINA/The Machines of God

From here on my CDs & iTunes are all fluffernutted.  There is a “GREATEST HITS” in here that I got from my brother years ago for Christmas.

8 song album & I’m not much of a fan of the first song.

I think this is FAKE NEWS.  I don’t rely on www.yahoo.com for news, it seems more like tabloid news.  Outfielder & free agent Bryce Harper is 26 years old, he’s asking for a 10 year deal for $500,000,000.  My issues with that are, nobody in their right mind will sign any player for 10 years.  It’s usually 5 or 6 years.  My 2nd issue is the Toronto Blue Jays have 4 or 5 young guys coming to spring training competing for the 1 outfield position left & they won’t break the bank.  My 3rd issue is $50 million a year nobody will sign him for that much money a year, is he delusional?  Last year the San Francisco Giants had the largest pay roll in baseball at $221,430,000 so he thinks he’ll take roughly a 2/5 of that each year?  Good luck with that one!  He’ll hit 35-45 homeruns, but I’d be out for sure.  Not my money though.  He’s such a catch, I wonder why nobody has signed him yet?  Pitchers & catchers report to Spring Training on Valentine’s Day!

I fell asleep to “Halestorm” the new album “Vicious”

I exercised to “Big Wreck” the album “The Pleasure & the Greed”

Let me explain this before you judge me.  When I make a friend, it’s always a strong bond.  I have many friends, some in the city, some in other provinces of Canada, & some in other countries.  My friends are nothing short of AWESOME!

I was in the hospital for almost exactly 4 ½ years.  Many people came to visit me & that was great!  I went into the hospital having just turned 28 at the end of January 2008.

I missed out on a TON of stuff, as I expected.  The world doesn’t come to a grinding halt for anyone & it shouldn’t.  It will only slow down briefly, to mourn.

My friends did exactly what I would have wanted them to do!  Slow down for a bit, & carry on with their lives.

I was at a BBQ hosted by some friends, since a mutual friend, his wife & toddler were in town.  I realized that I didn’t know many people there & the people I did know have completely different lives now, with marriage & kids now.  I don’t blame any of them for doing what they wanted to do with their lives.  I’m actually very impressed by all of them being great parents, something I’m not likely to do.  I like kids, they’re fun!

I realized that I’m not 28 anymore.  My friends have kids & other circles of friends, & that’s a very good thing!  Priorities shifted once they had their own families to care for, & that’s where their priorities should be.

I guess what I’m trying to say is I was in a group of great people, & I clammed up!  I’ve also developed anxiety.  I was worrying last Friday about being in a large group.  How did this happen, I don’t know?  If I’m in a group of more than 10 people, I feel like the outcast.  It’s all in my head, I know that.  It’s tough for me to meet new people, since I just assume they see an iPatch & a wheelchair, other than what’s inside the wheelchair & under the iPatch.

This is stuff I need to get over, nobody else needs to change anything!

Nick Hennink & J.D. Lemire on CTV.

Apple Music vs. Spotify.  For me, same thing, different pile.

Tool say they’re releasing an album next year.  I’ve heard this story for the last 3 years.  I’ll believe it when I have it.  This will be there follow up to “10,000 Days” released in 2006.  Roughly 12 years later, I’m expecting an INCREDIBLE album.

I’m a HUGE fan of Tool.  Tool is NOT a band that fits into a specific box.  Rock, metal, pop, tribal, rhythmic, etc.  They kind of cover it all, I prefer to call them a progressive band.  Not a specific type of music, just music

I rarely listen to this group anymore.  For me, they come off as far too polished to be a rock band.  Everything on their albums are perfect & in sync.  When I listen to them I always wonder how much work does the producer & sound engineer have to do, or is that just how they are?  I saw them live a few years ago.  It was very much the same as listening to one of their recordings.  They’re either really good musicians or really good at faking it live.  I have 6 albums purchased on CD, nothing from iTunes.  I own 6 of 10 studio albums, the 10 albums do not include their Greatest Hits or the 2 live albums on iTunes.  This is the rock band my mother didn’t approve of when I was a young teen, but bought tickets for the family to see them at The Casino, because she wanted to see them.  I did listen to them recently, I really have nothing against their music, & they’re a band I’ve kind of grown out of.

1995     COLLECTIVE SOUL   (Yes I played 3 songs from this album with my first band.)  This album does give me a nostalgic feeling, hearing these songs.

I fell asleep to “Finger Eleven” the album “Greyest of Blue Skies”

I exercised to “Big Wreck” the album “In Loving Memory Of…”

I don’t believe in making a New Year resolution.  I have goals I want to achieve or surpass, exercise wise.  I’ve been back to my regular routine with squats added into the mix.  I wanted to add cardio, so I think I know what I’ll do about that now.  Exercise bike once a week in the evening or Saturdays & walking with my walker & Kim’s help 3 nights a week as soon as she gets home or just after supper.  My crunches & back flexes have also joined the mix.

4 day week remember.  Each day is 45 Triceps pushups, 40 squats (recommended by my younger cousin Megan Gagnon), 40 back flexes, 100 crunches, 100 leg lifts, & 120 pushups.  For the week that’s  180 Triceps pushups, 160 squats, 160 back flexes, 400 crunches, 400 leg lifts, & 480 pushups.  Next week will be a full 5 days.

All of this exercise is great but I hope to add some cardio on Saturdays.  Walking with my walker mostly & some exercise bike thrown in on occasion.  I’ve only heard whispers of other people enjoying cardio, I’m SO NOT one of them.  Kim enjoys it though.  When she’s out jogging or boxing at the gym, I get the remote & there shall be no TLC on the TV!

After all of that exercise during the week, I get really tired.  In order to walk with my walker & Kim’s assistance, I’d prefer to do so properly, when I’m not tired, like right before supper or ride the exercise bike on Saturdays.

Really?  “Muse” are back in the studio.  They did say they wanted to release a new album this year.

Haha!  Funny tweets about Alexa!

More news about the Spotify lawsuit.

Devin Townsend Project

I had a lot of iTunes cash for Christmas.  James had the latest CD “Transcendence” which I borrowed & put on my iTunes.  Then I bought 2 other albums from iTunes “Addicted” & “Epicloud” all FANTASTIC albums added to other albums I own of his.  I was planning on buying “Transcendence” anyways.  I borrowed the CD from James & couldn’t stop listening to it, so I bought the other 2 albums from iTunes.  I wasn’t a huge fan of his until I heard “Transcendence” the double album version, & the latest release from them, right now, that’s my jam.

I couldn’t get into his former group “Strapping Young Lad” though.  They’re a little too heavy for me.

“Devin Townsend Project” I REALLY enjoy though.  Here are a few tracks from “Transcendence” that I can’t get enough of!

He’s Canadian & he did produced the “Lamb of God” album “As the Palaces Burn”

He finished recording it & then said “I can’t mix this????????????????”

Two things that would blow my mind this year is a new Lamb of God album & if Trivium would come to Saskatoon this year!

I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “Wasting Light”

I exercised to Kim watching TV.

This is late.  I just didn’t want to get out of bed.  I woke up shortly after 8:00 am & finally got my butt moving at 10:00 am had a quick bite to eat & then exercised.  I thought things would get easier as I did them more?  I sweated profusely today though, doing the same exercises as yesterday.

I’m pretty sure these will be posted later on in the morning since I’ve added more exercises.

I’m not the hero or victim in this cancer nonsense.  My family, Kim’s family, & our friends are the heroes.  I would never be able to get this far on my own.  If Kim wasn’t working, we’d really be hooped.  She works, I exercise.  There’s no income for exercising as much as possible.  Our immediate families are very important to both of us.  James, Sherry, Mitch, Rachel, & my parents are all in Regina.  If we need help of any kind that they can help with, none of them think twice about helping us out.  Our friends in Regina are the same.  If we need help, they’re ready & on call.  No offense to anyone, Mitch & Kim are my phone a friend peeps.

When I was acting like a complete idiot, Mitch put me in my place.  Kim wasn’t very happy at that time either.  I didn’t see it because I wasn’t thinking about anyone else or how my behavior was affecting others.

If things had turned out differently & I had died, many other people would have died on the inside.  I didn’t die though & thank goodness I didn’t!  Not everyone gets a second chance at life other than cats that get 9 lives.  No I’m trying to steer the boat, with many others, in the right direction.  I’m sure we’ll run into some nasty waves along the way but with help awaiting the call, we’ll be OK.

Kim has this entire week off.  We watched 2 more movies on Monday.  Spider – Man Homecoming & Thor: The Dark World.  I really didn’t like the first Thor movie but this second one was REALLY good.  I saw Spider – Man Homecoming in the theater & I knew it was a movie I’d watch again.  Right now I’m holding out to see Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi & we may go this weekend to Pitch Perfect 3?

I’m sure A Perfect Circle will be released this year.  It could be a long wait before we hear a new Tool album.  I’ll believe it when I have it.  Danny Carey said in 2016 that there would be a new Tool album in 2017.  Their last release was in 2006 titled “10,000 Days”.  If that’s when the release is we have roughly 16.397 years to wait, if I did the math properly?  A Perfect Circle has 2 singles out already, still no release date though.

Spotify is being sued for $1.6 Billion.

U2 – Songs of Experience.

I was a HUGE U2 fan in High School.  I have 11 albums on CD right from the 1st album 1980’s “Boy” to 2005’s “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb”.  After that album I just assumed they had retired, until “Songs of Innocence” appeared in my iTunes.  That album was light years away from what I would consider a U2 album.  I got into them on “The Joshua Tree” released in 1987.  I (my mom) didn’t purchase it for me until 1989 or 1990(?) when I was with her at Costco & saw it there.  My mother isn’t a U2 fan, but she bought that CD for me.  I played that CD over & over & over etc. in my bedroom on my boom box at a LOUD volume.  I think my mother deeply regretted that Costco purchase.

After that album I casually bought the previous albums & kept a steady pace with future U2 releases.

The new album “Songs of Experience” I seem to enjoy it more with each listen.  I find it to be a good mix of old & new U2.  Here’s someone else’ take on it. I would never suggest a U2 album to anyone that has never been a fan of them.  If you’ve enjoyed previous albums, DEFINITELY check this album out!  Thanks to Jonny Amore & Timothy Wong for drawing my attention to this album!

I fell asleep to “Eagles of Death Metal” the album “Death by Sexy”

I exercised to ”Corrosion of Conformity” 6 albums on shuffle.

Exercise total for the week; 5000 crunches, 180 squats, 120 leg lifts, 60 pushups, 20 minutes of planking.

Now I just want to curl up in the fetal position on the couch & cry. My muscles are that sore.

Yes, this is also on facebook if you prefer.

www.amillionmilesawayblog.com for email

All of this exercise & you’d think I’d look ripped! Not so. I still have more T-Shirts that don’t fit than those that do fit. I’m much lighter than I was going into the hospital than I am now. I was 265 pounds, right now I’m somewhere close to 240 as of a few weeks ago. My frame is quite big, I’ll never be under 200. I think somewhere between 210-220 is where I should be. At the moment my dominant/right calf looks like a chicken wing after you’ve striped the meat off of it. My left calf looks decent. Either way my legs are SEXY……………….a little furry but still SEXY!

I think I’ve figured out what the most beneficial exercises are for me at the moment. Squats, exercise bike, walking, stairs, leg lifts on my hands & knees, crunches. I need some more upper body strength but that’s not high on my priority list at the moment. I’m in not bad shape, for a guy in a wheelchair, but all of my weight/fat went right to my belly.

I graduated high school at 185 pounds. When I got to University I read my text books every night but I’d need a study break. I’d leave the book open on my desk in my room & grab 20 pound weights, do 20 curls on each arm, some sit ups & push ups. I take a study break & do that about twice a day/evening. I remember I’d ride the exercise bike in the basement while watching a movie & ride it for however long the movie was.

Cheap Trick interview with Consequence of Sound on their induction to the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame

REALLY! This needs to change like before Napster happened. $0.99 FOR A 15 SONG ALBUM ON SPOTIFY??????? Tell your employer you’ll work for 3-4 months for $0.99. Musicians are doing it, might as well join in???????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or rent the album 20 times????????

Star Wars: Episode VII was fantastic in the theater & also at home with surround sound. Now I should watch “Top Gun” with our surround sound!!!!

I wonder if the sequel will be any good?

3 versions of the same song & it’s just an extremely catchy song to me in any form!!

Oh yeah, that little TV show ended last night maybe you’ve heard of it? American Idol. I’ve watched it occasionally over the years. Didn’t watch the first season at all. I just really liked some of the stuff Kelly Clarkson released & I saw Phillip Phillips a few years ago. The guy who always gets compared to Dave Matthews. Other than that, I just found it to be a talent contest on a LARGE stage. 3 or 4 judges narrow it down to the top 10 they like, then they tell you ‘OK, these 10 we deem worthy of winning this contest. Great marketing tool, but the subject is/was as subjective as it gets. I would have an idea as to who would win & it was never who I had chosen in my mind. They’re all good at what they do, I don’t necessarily like it all. How many of the musicians I listen to would do well on the show, other than the 2 winners I do listen to? Maybe 2 or 3 at best?

This is how fast I’ll abandon my computer today. I have no cell phone or tablet/iPad, catch you on the weekend update! Monday, I haven’t decided yet if I’ll be online at all?

Why is iTunes illegal in the U.K.? They made it illegal because of the burning software? We’ve always been able to trade vinyl, 8 tracks, cassettes, & CDs. We we’re also allowed to make mix tapes & mix CDs? Now that’s illegal? So Apple Music, “free” music that you basically rent, can flourish? Once you pay $5.99 for digital music, that you own, now you can’t share it or burn a copy legally in the U.K.? That’s just weird? I really don’t care how you get your music. If it’s through a streaming site, I don’t get it? You pay $9.99 a month for “free” music, if you want to hear a song you downloaded today on Apple Music, in 20 years you may have to continue paying $9.99 a month to hear it in 2035. All of that time you’ve paid $2397.60 to hear the same song from 20 years ago?

Should a contractor do the same? “I built that house 20 years ago. They should pay me monthly until it falls to the ground”. Would you buy the house under that law? I personally wouldn’t. I tend to think Apple should distribute the money made through iTunes & the purchase of iPods needs to be re-evaluated & distributed fairly. They got the idea right, just the disbursement of money is screwed up. We’ve all been able to own our music, but now that’s illegal in the UK?

So I wake up this morning screaming. I was dreaming. In my dream there was a rat coming at me & Brewster was with me. I was walking & Brewster was on his leash with me. I tried to kick the rat in my dream. I woke up & had kicked my wheelchair & woke up at 7:30 screaming in pain. Brewster was on me instantly to see if I was OK. He’s such a good dog. I fell back to sleep for a few minutes, then woke up for good at 8:00. I don’t have kids, but I don’t really sleep in. On the weekends I’m usually awake by 9:30 during the week I get up either when Kim leaves for work or I wake when she’s showering. Brewster is usually the last 1 in bed!

The Toronto Blue Jays scored half the points the Saskatchewan Roughriders did Saturday night. Blue Jays won their game 15-3 Riders lost 34-31. After 8 games the Roughriders have yet to win 0W-8L. Blue Jays will, at the very least, play a wild card game to get into the playoffs. Riders playoff hope? No, that’s a pipe dream.

Kim did it, we watched “Red Dragon”, the prequel to “Silence of the Lambs”. The movies aren’t as freaky as they were 12 or 13 years ago when I was alone house sitting for my grandparents. Big empty house after watching those movies, then going to bed? I ran up the stairs I was so scarred I’d see Anthony Hopkins behind me, trying to eat me!
