I fell asleep to “A Perfect Circle” the album “Eat the Elephant”

Had breakfast while listening to “Barenaked Ladies” the album “Grinning Streak”

Need a day to rest my body & wake up, so I can do my exercises tomorrow!  I feel like I have to catch up to everyone.  A day without exercise is a wasted day to me & I started out 4.5 years behind everyone.

Sunday I was fall over sitting down tired, Monday was more of the same, so no exercising Monday.  Since “Sunday morning” I’ve felt over tired, I exercised Tuesday but not “today.”

The week started off with multiple phone calls with doctors & labs setting appointments.  YAY…………….BOOOO.  I’ve got better things to do than go to all of these routine cancer survivor checkups.  I know I’m fine.  I’ll go to multiple doctors & they’ll tell me the exact same thing.  “Everything looks good on the scan.  See you in a year.”  Who doesn’t work & has to be somewhere at 7:30 am?

I’d much prefer blood work & a scan in one appointment & send it all to one doctor.  Nope multiple appointments since Monday until next week & another routine doctor appointment in the summer.

I know these are important but good grief “will it ever stop?”  I had cancer in 2008 & I’m still being poked & tested?

Wait in a waiting room for roughly an hour Monday evening to give 2 vials of blood for your doctor appointment next week.

SO NOT COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about we spend one day going for a scan & giving blood?  Then another day for the doctor appointments regarding the scan & blood work? One doctor will tell me his thoughts on the blood work & the other one will do the same, call me fat & send me on my way.  Am I in a good mood?  Not really!

I guess it’s only 3 weeks of the year.  I just don’t want to do this anymore.  I survived cancer, leave me alone for a bit please.  I’ve been tired since Sunday.  My exercises on Tuesday was pretty much a zombie going very slowly through the motions.

Kim has to take time off of work & if she’s not there she doesn’t get paid.  Sure no problem, let’s make this a month long extravaganza!

I’m grateful to be alive, just frustrated at the moment!  Also deathly tired, no exercise today.  TV & the couch are calling me.  I likely won’t be online much at all today.  Probably have a nap today, my body feels like a rag doll.

Since they’ve recently released their 4th studio album, this seems like a good time to review this band.  This is the singer’s, Maynard James Keenan, 2nd of 3 groups.  He’s also the singer for “Tool” & “Puscifer”.  “Tool” is his first successful group.  The story goes that “A Perfect Circle’s” guitarist & music writer.  Was a guitar tech for “Tool” aka a roadie.  Maynard overheard some of the music on Billy Howerdel’s computer.  Maynard liked it & asked if he could sing on it.  As soon as they released their first album most people instantly compared them to “Tool”.  Fair enough, the first album was fairly comparable to a “Tool” album, but “Tool” seems to be able to fit in many mainstream genres in their own way.  “A Perfect Circle’s” first album was their hard rock album with breaks of light ambient music to ease off the gas pedal & let fans breathe for a second, much like “Tool”.  The 2nd album had a few heavy songs amongst more accessible songs.  The 3rd album was full of mostly unrecognizable covers.  The music & melody were all completely different but the lyrics were the same.

After the cover album they released a ‘Greatest Hits’ album with one new song on it.

I wasn’t much of a fan of the cover album or this new song.  I have the album of covers on CD, but not the ‘Greatest Hits’ album in any form.

That brings us to their new album “Eat the Elephant”.  Some longtime fans of the group that I’ve spoken with are somewhat disappointed with this album.  I was also, at first it’s not nearly as heavy as most of their previous songs or albums.  After it’s release on April 20th & multiple listens to the album, I can’t stop listening to it.  Much like their 2nd album & the first single from it, I was somewhat disappointed at first.  If you’ve ever been a fan of “A Perfect Circle” don’t give up on this album.  I don’t know what it was but something made me go back to it multiple times.

Here’s a song from each release.

Movies to watch for in 2018 from “Avengers: Infinity War” on….

I’m sorry but even for a comic book movie this is hard to swallow.  I’m supposed to believe that Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris Pratt, a tree, & a raccoon are needed to save the world.  “Avengers: Infinity War” had better be the best movie ever made!

I fell asleep to “Smashing Pumpkins” the album “Siamese Dream” followed by “Soundgarden” the album “Superunknown”

I exercised to “Foo Fighters” the album “Wasting Light”

During breakfast I listened to “Headstones” the album “Teeth & Tissue”

Had my breakfast & immediately threw it up.  Still feeling fine.

On to empty the dishwasher to “Led Zeppelin” the album “Physical Graffiti”

All is fine, now I’ll hit the shower!

Yesterday was a wasted day, all of my bones & joints were really sore?  I was fine Monday.  Tuesday it was just unbearable though.  Today was better, but still a little tender.  I did half the amount of all of my exercises (just to be safe).  I don’t want to have too many days where I’m not doing something, just makes it more difficult to ramp it up again.

When I went to bed Saturday night for some reason my legs just had a terrible ache.  For a bit there I thought “How does a 38 year old have growing pains?”  I don’t know what it was but I felt fine when I woke up.  I guess it was a glimpse into the near future

I really don’t remember much/anything of 2008.  Apparently I was in a world of pain when I was awake for an hour every day.  My mother & Kim tell me it’s best that I don’t remember.  The little I do remember is that radiation & MRIs suck if you’re extremely claustrophobic like I am.  I can’t remember how long a session of radiation or the length of an MRI was but wow, so not for me.  At least I came out of it well!  Each time I went for an MRI they’d give me a bean bag to throw if something was wrong.  I must have been the worst person to have an MRI done.  Each time I would throw the bean bag because I was terrified, so the bean bag, idea worked once then they must have thought I was the boy that called wolf?  It came to a point that I asked one of my nurses if she could just knock me out before I went into the MRI.  The Benadryl didn’t work the last few times though.  Heights & small spaces are 2 of my big phobias.

Ellen Degeneres is coming to Calgary for a Q & A.  Kim & I would love to go, but somebody, me, is going to far too many concerts this year & we are attending a wedding in Manitoba.  Also, if Kim’s not at work, she doesn’t get paid.  She’s working under contract, no benefits, vacation pay, or sick leave.  I was considering selling my tickets to one of them, but I don’t know if upgrading two tickets in the wheelchair section is possible?  I also bought those tickets for the reason that I WANT to go to the concerts.  I pulled all of the leaves off of our money tree with large portions of the branches too.  I’m terrible with money, but I’m Scottish I should be cheap?  Not with music though.

Summer of 1998 I became a fan of Pearl Jam.  I bought the album “Yield” that was released in February of 1998.  I had a summer job, installing air conditioning in a senior’s home with a Tinsmith & his son who was also going into engineering in September at the U of R.  We’d start early at 5 am because the attic would get incredibly hot in the afternoon.  Every morning & afternoon while driving to & from work I was listening to that Pearl Jam album, then I’d play it at home as I fell asleep for a nap.  I went to a music store & bought the previous albums by Pearl Jam.  I couldn’t get enough of them.  “Yield” is one of my top 4 Pearl Jam albums, one of my go to Pearl Jam albums.  I wouldn’t say that I’m a hardcore fan of PJ, but I do like Pearl Jam.  I’ve seen them twice in Saskatoon in 2005 & 2011 while going through my rehab, even saw my physiotherapist at the 2011 show.  The albums “Ten”, “VS”, “Vitalogy”, & “Yield” are my favourites of their HUGE catalogue………..

“Yield” SOME LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10 good guy Dave Grohl moments.  LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  In the video, there is an article also.

While we’re talking about Dave Grohl, let’s listen to this guy explaining how “Everlong” was written & recorded.

This makes it sound far more difficult than needed or how you can cut out a PILE of stuff & play it’s bare bones live, still works!

New “Queens of the Stone Age” video

I hope “Lamb of God” never let “Burn the Priest” see the light of day.  That album is terrible.  I had it, listened to it once & haven’t heard it since.  They used to be called “Burn the Priest” & released one album under that name.  You know it’s a bad “Lamb of God” album if I can’t tolerate it.

I fell asleep to “Megadeth” the album “Dystopia”, “Megadeth” the album “Peace Sells….but Who’s Buying?” & finally “Pearl Jam” the album “Yield”

I exercised to “Pink” the album “Beautiful Trauma”

After 2 days of being struck with a head cold & a weekend, my exercises were very difficult on Monday.  Tuesday evening we look at Brewster’s teeth, the little furry guy needs a cleaning & perhaps a few teeth removed, we’ll find out the price tonight!  The Finger Eleven & I Mother Earth concert looks as though it’s very unattainable now.  It may cost less than Brewster’s teeth, as Kim pointed out. It’s one of the 2 cheaper concerts of the 4.  Brewster & Kim are priority number 1 in this house!  I didn’t sleep well last night, I was stressing pretty hard, more worried about Brewster than anything.

I tried to watch the Super Bowl, sounded like an entertaining game.  4 hours of football is just too much for me.  I recorded it to see/hear Pink do the national anthem & Justin Timberlake at half time.  Even if the Canadian Football League goes into over time I get antsy.

Look this up on your channel guide, CFL scheduled for 3 hours, Major League Baseball scheduled for 3 hours, NFL scheduled for 4 hours!  Curling, golf, hockey, basketball, NASCAR, Indy car, etc.  I don’t watch those sports.  I watch the Toronto Blue Jays & the Canadian Football League.  I can’t watch 4 hours of football, however a 6 hour baseball game I can manage that no problem.

I know it’s odd, so here’s why.  With every single batter, each fielder has to think ahead as to what or where they are going to be with each pitch.  It’s a reaction sport.  Is the batter going to bunt, hit for contact, swing for the fence, how many outs are there, what base(s) have runners, where do I need to be if it’s hit towards these areas, etc.

I don’t know much about other sports, since I didn’t play them but I think along with the players when I watch baseball.  That may be a good reason as to why so many people get so bored?  I understand where they’re coming from.

The actual game I recorded to watch the musical performances.  I was also recording the movie “Lucy”.  It was on TV.  After being told it was terrible by friends of mine, I figured, “It’s free & there’s really nothing else on but the Super Bowl”.  I didn’t love the movie, & I didn’t hate the movie.  I thought it was OK.  I don’t need to watch it again.  Decent movie to rent though.  Another science fiction movie, leave logic at the door!

Thanks , but I’ll be the judge for ranking 1 of my 2 favourite bands catalogue!

Not my favourite album but each of their albums has at least 5 songs on it that I enjoy!

New “A Perfect Circle” on April 20th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LANGUAGE IN AT LEAST 2 OF THESE SONGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

So it’s February 4th today.  On Sunday, February 3rd, 2008, I experienced the shortest & most painful headache while I was shoveling snow in our backyard.  Weird thing was that it was very brief & in the back bottom portion of my head.  Kim saw me sitting down on our back step holding my head wincing in pain.  She told me to stop shoveling & come inside.  The pain past very soon.  We thought nothing of it & I went to work on Monday, we carpooled since her office was on my way.

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008.  We carpooled again as usual.  I think I was on my 2nd docket of the day.  2 of my co-workers told me I looked very pale.  Odd since I felt fine, until 30 seconds later.  I laid down on the cat-walk of the printing press.  Called one of my co-workers & asked him to call 911 for me.  I was in the back of an ambulance in very few minutes.  The last thing I remember is Kim getting into the back of the ambulance with me (her boss drove her over since I had the car).  The last thing I remember before I was in a coma for 4 or 5 weeks, was telling Kim in the back of the ambulance was “It will be OK sweetie” & thank goodness it was.

Here I am 10 years later, I’m in a wheelchair with an iPatch.  My speech isn’t great, & my left hand shakes.  All things considered it sure beats the worst case scenario!

In those 10 years, my family has lost far too many people to cancer.  My “Aunt”, Aunt, Grandfather, family friend, another Aunt’s sister & a handful of others who survived.  My mother especially has had a very rough time.  Her only sister, her father, & 3 good friends.  I’m pretty sure my Grandfather was the only one over 70 when he died at the age of 84, one week before his 85th birthday.  I guess he told mom he’d never live to be 85.

One set of aunt & uncle from Alberta were here helping my grandparents pack & move to a new condo suite.  They’re moving to a different suite in the same building, but now meals will be made for them, instead of them making their own meals.  My grandmother has had a rough time lately but she’s keeping her spirit up.  Grandpa is tired quite a bit but that’s pretty much par for the course for any male Fraser.  We’ve all had a turn zonking out on the living room floor after a large meal in the dining room of their house, COMFY floor!  Pillow from the sofa, big plush carpet, & drooling out the side of your mouth within 5 minutes!  Grandpa, dad, me, my brother & probably my cousins too.

Had a great visit with my uncle.  I assume my aunt didn’t bring perogies for me & was likely “busy” or doesn’t love me anymore?  Hurts me a bit…….on the inside…… “feels” Hahahahahahahaha!

Great but are they all worth recording & releasing?  Quality over quantity.

I saw that “Pink” is touring across Canada, I’d go, but the money tree is bare & I’ve scraped off the bark for 3 maybe 4 concerts this year.  The 4th one doesn’t have a date yet but the group has said they will be in Regina.  If it wasn’t in Saskatchewan, I wouldn’t even think of going!

I believe Mark Tremonti has said he’s holding a listening party for his 4th album in May?  The album’s not even fully recorded.  Only 13 drum tracks are done!

Western Canada does not have any large festivals, I believe there’s at least one in Ontario.

I guess I should have watched the entire “Grammy Awards”.  Bruno Mars won album & record of the year.  Why are those 2 different awards?  I’m a HUGE Bruno Mars fan!  I had to choose between seeing “Queen” or “Bruno Mars” one year.  I had to go with “Queen”, I’ll likely never get the opportunity to see them live again.  Bruno Mars has set himself up for what I hope will be a long career.

Rockers bringing kids on stage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These are the groups thinks should play at the “Super Bowl”

Here’s why I respectfully disagree.  Great choices for a rock/metal fan.  You need a big name act to play the “Super Bowl”!  If you put a band like “Gwar” on the stage 80-90% of people watching will say “Who?”  Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, or KISS, maybe.  Out of the 3, I’d go with Pearl Jam or their HUGE catalogue of very diverse songs, & the bands popularity.

Even them I would question playing at the Super Bowl.  The NFL should have a pop act or country act.  What do most people enjoy listening to?

You can’t please everyone all of the time, so the NFL is doing something right.  A pop or country group should please most people watching the Super Bowl & everyone knows the name Justin Timberlake!

I thought “collusion” was only a word used in the White House?  Apparently the slow off-season in baseball can now include the word “collusion”.  Very few, like 2 or 3 teams are doing anything yet team work outs are set for February 21st,  pitchers & catchers start work outs earlier on February 14th.

Exercise total is a bit off.  I was very tired all week?  Not bad I guess, but not what I expected?

7100 crunches, 500 squats, 290 leg lifts, & 330 pushups

My goals for each day, which I have reached before: 1500 crunches, 100 squats, 80 pushups, & 70 leg lifts.

Normal weekly total should be, 7500 crunches, 500 squats, 400 pushups, & 350 leg lifts.

The further I get away from cancer, the smaller it seems.  I’ll never forget Sunday, February 3rd 2008, Tuesday, February 5th 2008 or Thursday, July 26th 2012.  No matter how much I try to forget that I had cancer, my wheelchair is a constant reminder.  If I’m sitting on the couch & would like something from the kitchen or if I have to go to the washroom or I forget to get the remote & phone, etc.  I remember that I have to get up, get back in my chair & then go wherever needed.  If I need to go to the washroom in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning, for ½ a second I don’t even realize I have to get into my wheelchair.  Then I realize that I have to get into my wheelchair & close my left eye so that I don’t have double vision.  At this point, MY cancer is nothing more than an annoying pest.  More of an “Oh, yeah.  I have to get in my chair to do that thing”

Being in a wheelchair has pretty much become 2nd nature to me.  I’m way faster at it, but I still think of it as an annoyance that I hope to be rid of someday.  I can do lots of things, there are pros to it too, everything I do is a little different than how you may do it & I may do it a bit slower.

It’s been a looooooooooooooooooooong tiring week.  I thought Tuesday was Friday for a second when I got up.  I’ve also stayed in bed until almost an hour after Kim leaves for work that rarely happens.  I’m just going to count it as a rough week with very little ambition.

Quiet weekend here, Kim’s back from her trip to B.C. this weekend.  I really missed her.  Brewster & I got to hang out.  Kim made food to keep in the fridge for me a lasagna & some fish.  I ended up hanging out at my parents place for 2 of the 4 days.  I ended up not eating here much, more so at my parents place.  I missed Kim so much!  Brewster was thrilled to see her too.

I’d be purchasing vinyl as well, if I had room for a collection?  According to my father, sales for CD players are declining steadily & record player sales are climbing upwards!  He works in the business designing home theaters & much more.

There’s a group from New York called “Highly Suspect” who are releasing their 2nd album which is on iTunes for preorder as of Friday…………….but only in the USA.  I checked immediately on iTunes!  Not there.  On American iTunes, yes it’s there.  It asked me to make an American iTunes account, that ain’t happening……………………ever.  I got their first album on iTunes (Canadian).  Take my money?  I don’t agree with streaming sites, just like I no longer have a subscription to “Guitar World” magazine.  I download my music on iTunes.  I’m very leery about signing up for an American iTunes account, it’s likely illegal & will likely screw up our Canadian iTunes.

I had a completely different issue that they helped me with immediately by calling me 2 seconds after they got my request for a phone call!  The customer support is fantastic, the point of sale service could improve vastly………………could also be that I’m all thumbs when it comes to technology.

From their first album released in 1997. This is a live version from Roy Thompson Hall w/ The Toronto Symphony Orchestra. This is also the song they were playing in 1999 when I broke my nose at a 1 day festival in Saskatoon called Edgefest. Still the only broken bone I’ve ever had.

Yes, we had a rough night, that’s why I don’t remember what I fell asleep to. I do remember listening to 1 of 4 or 5 entire albums “Pearl Jam” the album “Yield”

Kim was up & down from the bed last night. Brewster has terrible anxiety when just about anything out of the ordinary happens. Last night there was a storm. The first crack of thunder & Brewster starts freaking out. Up & down of the bed, which means Kim has to help him up onto the bed, he is small & can’t jump that high. He has anti-anxiety pills, valium, he doesn’t take them if he smells it inside of whatever bite of food we try to cover it in? I understand why he doesn’t like it, so does Kim. He trips & falls over when he gets a pill, & it’s not good for his liver.

By the time I fell asleep it had to have been after 1:00 am? Kim was up much longer cleaning up Brewster’s poop & pee while he wandered throughout the house, then I fell asleep after useless trying to calm him down. Kim figures she got 2 hours of sleep because he wouldn’t take his pill.

He’s 10 ½ years old now. You think he’d be over this but he’s not. Guess who’s sleeping in his bed on the floor beside me? We’re not supposed to coddle him when he’s panting & pacing around the house, so we don’t, but he still does it anyways.

The rest of this I wrote yesterday!

I love watching the Toronto Blue Jays pregame, it’s good for a laugh! It’s fun watching the Blue Jay analyst, Gregg Zaun, get so bent out of shape because of new rules. He was a catcher in the major leagues for 15 years, I believe mainly a back up catcher, I could be wrong? His last game played was in 2010. He’s now a part of a ½ hour pregame show on every Blue Jay game. What I find amusing is that I hear him, almost daily, say “The game’s been played this way forever! Why change it now?”. Well, “….it’s called evolution baby….”

Now onto “Prime Time Sports with Bob McCowen” who defends Blue Jay knuckle ball pitcher 42 year old R.A. Dickey. I only watch his first hour on Mondays & Fridays when he takes calls from anyone about any sport. The Blue Jays acquired Dickey in 2013. He won the Cy Young award in the National league in 2012 with the NY Mets. After his win Tuesday evening in Houston he is currently 8W-12L for the year. Pretty bad if you ask me. I, like many others including himself, have no clue how he’ll pitch on any given day? The knuckle ball is different than any other pitch & few people can throw it. It does not spin, without it spinning it floats, flutters, & dives where ever. You throw it towards the catcher & hope it hits the strike zone. Personally, too much of a risk for me.

I listen to Bob McCowen & he says “Wait until Dickey gets to the 2nd half of the season, he’s really good!” Great Bob, that makes me feel better……wait…………..a full season is 32 starts. So 16 of them I’m not supposed to worry about? The games in April count as much as the games in September I thought. So including Tuesday’s win he’s 1W-3L in his last four games & we’re in the 2nd half of the season? Great!…………………….I’m confused?

Starting pitcher Aaron Sanchez is 24 years old & on pace to have a Cy Young year. The Cy Young award is given to the 2 best pitchers during a season, 1 National league pitcher & 1 American league pitcher. This is Aaron Sanchez’s first full year as a starting pitcher. The Blue Jays brass has said he will be going to the bull pen, joining the relief pitchers. Why? They want to baby him so that his arm wont fall off, & save him for the potential playoffs. His arm is safer as a reliever? If his arm falls off who cares where he’s pitching? He’s young & already among the best pitchers in the game. What if he moves to the bullpen & the Jays don’t make the playoffs? Now who’s got mud on their face? What are you going to do with him next year?
