I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “Wasting Light”

I exercised to Kim watching TV.

This is late.  I just didn’t want to get out of bed.  I woke up shortly after 8:00 am & finally got my butt moving at 10:00 am had a quick bite to eat & then exercised.  I thought things would get easier as I did them more?  I sweated profusely today though, doing the same exercises as yesterday.

I’m pretty sure these will be posted later on in the morning since I’ve added more exercises.

I’m not the hero or victim in this cancer nonsense.  My family, Kim’s family, & our friends are the heroes.  I would never be able to get this far on my own.  If Kim wasn’t working, we’d really be hooped.  She works, I exercise.  There’s no income for exercising as much as possible.  Our immediate families are very important to both of us.  James, Sherry, Mitch, Rachel, & my parents are all in Regina.  If we need help of any kind that they can help with, none of them think twice about helping us out.  Our friends in Regina are the same.  If we need help, they’re ready & on call.  No offense to anyone, Mitch & Kim are my phone a friend peeps.

When I was acting like a complete idiot, Mitch put me in my place.  Kim wasn’t very happy at that time either.  I didn’t see it because I wasn’t thinking about anyone else or how my behavior was affecting others.

If things had turned out differently & I had died, many other people would have died on the inside.  I didn’t die though & thank goodness I didn’t!  Not everyone gets a second chance at life other than cats that get 9 lives.  No I’m trying to steer the boat, with many others, in the right direction.  I’m sure we’ll run into some nasty waves along the way but with help awaiting the call, we’ll be OK.

Kim has this entire week off.  We watched 2 more movies on Monday.  Spider – Man Homecoming & Thor: The Dark World.  I really didn’t like the first Thor movie but this second one was REALLY good.  I saw Spider – Man Homecoming in the theater & I knew it was a movie I’d watch again.  Right now I’m holding out to see Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi & we may go this weekend to Pitch Perfect 3?

I’m sure A Perfect Circle will be released this year.  It could be a long wait before we hear a new Tool album.  I’ll believe it when I have it.  Danny Carey said in 2016 that there would be a new Tool album in 2017.  Their last release was in 2006 titled “10,000 Days”.  If that’s when the release is we have roughly 16.397 years to wait, if I did the math properly?  A Perfect Circle has 2 singles out already, still no release date though.

U2 – Songs of Experience.

I was a HUGE U2 fan in High School.  I have 11 albums on CD right from the 1st album 1980’s “Boy” to 2005’s “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb”.  After that album I just assumed they had retired, until “Songs of Innocence” appeared in my iTunes.  That album was light years away from what I would consider a U2 album.  I got into them on “The Joshua Tree” released in 1987.  I (my mom) didn’t purchase it for me until 1989 or 1990(?) when I was with her at Costco & saw it there.  My mother isn’t a U2 fan, but she bought that CD for me.  I played that CD over & over & over etc. in my bedroom on my boom box at a LOUD volume.  I think my mother deeply regretted that Costco purchase.

After that album I casually bought the previous albums & kept a steady pace with future U2 releases.

The new album “Songs of Experience” I seem to enjoy it more with each listen.  I find it to be a good mix of old & new U2.  Here’s someone else’ take on it. I would never suggest a U2 album to anyone that has never been a fan of them.  If you’ve enjoyed previous albums, DEFINITELY check this album out!  Thanks to Jonny Amore & Timothy Wong for drawing my attention to this album!

We had 4 Christmas’ this year.  First up was Christmas with Kim’s family.  Opened gifts here on Christmas Eve, then spent the 25th at Sherry & James’ place.  Played games, had our Christmas meal & watched a movie.  Kim’s family went home on Boxing Day.

In the afternoon of Boxing Day, Corey, Jolene, & Hannah came over in the mid-afternoon to have our Christmas we have with them as we do normally.  No big meal though!  Thank goodness.

The only problem for me was trying to figure out how to get into Sherry & James’ house.  It’s a nice place but not wheelchair friendly.  I made it in without falling!  I don’t think I’ve ever fallen there.  James’ brother Jeffrey was with us for 1/2 Christmas Day, & here on Christmas Eve as well.  He’s a really nice guy to chat with.

On the 27th we had Christmas with my family.  We all did an escape room.  2 teams of 5 people.  My uncle, his girlfriend, & 2 cousins were with us for Christmas.  We had pizza for supper, then opened gifts, & finished the evening with a game of Pictionary & Mad Gab.

After we had just finished opening gifts, my parents got a call from a paramedic in Calgary.  My grandparents were in Airdrie for Christmas staying with my aunt, uncle & 2 cousins.  They had dropped my grandparents of at the airport to fly home.  They hadn’t boarded the plane & my grandmother had “a small heart attack” they said.

They think it was cardio myopathy.  I guess it really damaged her heart & her brain wasn’t working quite right.  Mom & Dad were on the phone a lot on Friday (29th) keeping other family members up to date.

On the 28th I did absolutely nothing, I was REALLY tired.  Kim went over to visit Jolene & Hannah.  Their dog Dug needed to have a play date with Brewster.  Kim thought Corey was working, so I stayed home & watched “The X-Files” on Netflix.  I should have had a nap instead.  I was too young to watch this when it was on TV, but I can’t wait for the new season.

Friday the 29th was Christmas with my mother’s side of the family at my cousin’s house in Rouleau (pronounced Rolo).  Aunts, uncles, cousins & all of my cousin’s young kids.  More of a family get together.  No gifts or anything just appetizers & a turkey dinner.  Unfortunately Mitch & Dad were both ill & stayed home.

It’s REALLY cold out today, December 30, 2017, we’re not leaving the house today however, I’m wearing my usual attire of shorts & a T-Shirt though.  I even asked Kim for some of the comforter in the middle of the night.  That’s very rare.  Make a note on your calendar!

Cold day, a good day to hunker down & watch movies with Kimmy.  She found a “Rocky” marathon.  She loves those movies.  Yes, we own them all, from the first “Rocky” all the way to “#Creed”.

I don’t like to speak about my Christmas gifts.  It’s very embarrassing to me.  I’m grateful for them, but also embarrassed by the amount of stuff I receive.  I prefer & enjoy giving gifts.  That’s one of the reason I don’t talk about what I’ve received.  Please don’t ask?

Well, it’s New Year’s Eve December 31, 2017 means I’m 9 years cancer free.  I’m still in a wheelchair, iPatch over my left eye, & still on 5 medications.  All of that being said, I’m fine.

We spent New Year’s with Corey, Jolene, Hannah, Gosha, Twyla, & Elouise (spelling may be off here).  Yes we were home & in bed before midnight.

Kim has the entire week off, but I’ll start my workouts on Tuesday.   I’m going to change it up a bit throughout the year so it doesn’t become the same daily routine.  You’ll still get a weekly total though!

Just spoke with my mother, mom & dad may be heading to the Alberta boarder to pick up my grandparents this weekend (6th & 7th).  Just the other day grandma thought the year was 1532, she was in a mall, & had been there for 2.5 years.  Sounds like she is doing better now.  When the paramedic called on the 27th we were all shocked that they said Jean Fraser was in the back of the ambulance?  Grandpa is the one with a bad heart.  I guess I’m lucky to still have two grandparents alive at my age.  I also got to know 3 of my great grandmothers.

Another tune from “A Perfect Circle”

If I knew in 2017 what I know now, Pink, U2, The Devin Townsend Project, & Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds would have appeared on my top albums of the year.

Pink – Beautiful Trauma

U2 – Songs of Experience

No, I didn’t care for their free album either, “Songs of Innocence”

The Devin Townsend Project – Transcendence

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Who Built the Moon?

I’ll do a review of these albums over the next 4 posts.  If you’ve never enjoyed U2, you probably won’t like their new album.  As a U2 fan, I REALLY like it.

Friday ended for us going to “Chop” for supper with Sherry.  James stayed behind with Brewster.  Very good, yet pricy!  I don’t know where Kim found the money, but her sister came with us & paid for all 3 of us.  Thanks Sherry!

Saturday not great.  A) I called a customer service line.  I spoke with 3 different people + time on hold between each caller.  ½ hour or more on the phone.  The final person can’t help me & says as a sign off “Good luck with that!”  REALLY!  Did you learn that from Trump helping the flood victims in Texas?  He’d help out others & say “Have a great day!”  B) Roughriders lost to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.  Fortunately the Toronto Blue Jays actually won, in a game that meant nothing.  Strong rum & Cokes were flowing here after the incredibly stupid call.

I’ve been on the customer service side of things, all you have to do is agree with the customer.  They’re always right, at least that’s what they want to hear.  They’re usually wrong though.  The customer typically has no clue as to what’s happening behind the curtain.  I never lose my cool on a bad customer service representative, if I’ve tried to work with them & still have a problem, I calmly ask to speak with a manager that can help me.  Ranting & raving gets you nowhere, so why bother getting upset?  It’s something that doesn’t make anyone happy.

It’s like road rage.  You’re going to rant & rave while driving me somewhere I didn’t do it, nor can I fix it for you.  Unless you’re going to talk to whoever is driving the other vehicle, I don’t need or want to hear it.

Sunday we got up, found a legal loop hole for my problem & didn’t have to call the customer service line.  All is well!  I’m getting tired of fixing their problems though.  I’d stop using this product but it’s pretty much a monopoly.

“They’ve got us by the short & curlies…”

Made a juice for the week, some laundry to fold & put away.  Once that’s done, couch, baseball or Netflix!

Weekend’s here finally!  Friday ended with us returning to my parents’ house.  Dad & I watched “Rogue One: A Star Wars story” in the basement on his home theater which includes an 84” HD projection screen, beer & rum or whatever you like!  Mom & Kim watched a chick flick called “You Before Me”.  Mom had it recorded on the TV.

May 6th is Sherry Hastings birthday.  My older but shorter sister-law!

When it’s over +24 degrees Celcius inside, & the same issue occurs ¾ years, somethings wrong!  It’s +28 in here on Saturday at 7:00 pm.  I woke up around 9:30 am, fan on & window open all night it was already +26 Celcius.  Right then I knew it would become unbearable in here!

My brother came over this afternoon to help me with some computer stuff.  On the way he called me asking if I wanted anything from DQ.  If someone’s offering you a free blizzard you answer yes.  I said “Sure I’ll have a medium Reese’s Pieces Peanut Butter Cup blizzard.  They screwed up & made the order a large instead of medium, I ate it anyways.  I screwed up later.  Earlier tonight Kim asks me “Should we get some blizzards since it’s so hot in here?”  I replied “Nah, I already had a large blizzard when Mitch came over, I’m good.  Actually I could go for a medium Crispy Crunch blizzard”.  Kim replies “YOU WHAT?????  YOU HAD A BLIZZARD WITHOUT ME & DIDN’T TELL ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”  “Yeah, but you know now.  Let’s go get some ice cream”.  I did not get more ice cream, I did get some Timbits though!

12 years of marriage with Kim today!  Happy anniversary Kim!  Sure we’ve had our ups & 4.5 years of downs, but we made it & have many more years together.  In summation should we get a DQ blizzard today?  Since we don’t have the moola to do much else?

If you’re here strictly for the cancer news, that’s all I have for you today.

Looks like a busy summer at the movie theater!  I’m a big fan of Simon Pegg.  “Shaun of the Dead” & “Hot Fuzz” are FANTASTIC!  I have 2 or 3 other movies with him in them, they’re good also!

Kim’s back is still causing her to be quite immobile.  She called & got an appointment with her chiropractor this afternoon.  She was laying on the laminate floor yesterday, with a wedge pillow under her knees, & an extra strength Tylenol.  Hopefully things get better after the chiropractor?

Sherry & James have been really good to us!  They kept Brewster for 3.5 years while I was sick & rehabilitating.  Now that I’m unable to drive, Sherry picking up our groceries & taking her sister to a chiropractor appointment today.  James is my computer guy & a flat out metal fan!  Sherry is there in a heartbeat for us if needed!

I shower after my exercise.  I stepped on our scale just to see if I had lost any weight, not necessarily my goal more of a byproduct from my exercise of being able to walk again.  The weight’s coming of slowly, but I guess that’s better than nothing.  Essentially I should be in the range of 215-220.  Right now I’m down to 233 from 265.  I was 260 when I went into the hospital.  The difference is that most of my fat went straight to my belly.  Before I was sick, I wore jeans with a 38” waist now I’m not sure what my waist is but I did have to wear a 40” waist a couple of months ago.

Not how I’d like to have the Blue Jays enter the playoffs, better than not at all I guess?  One game in Toronto against Baltimore on Tuesday.  Winner moves on, loser is done for the year.  If they had played better in April, nobody would have to wait on pins & needles for the last game of the regular season?  Instead of 11W-15L, I don’t think 13W-13L would have been out of the question?

Most hard rock & metal from the 1980s wasn’t ever my thing.  I was born in 1980, & that wasn’t the music I was exposed to.

I really like “The Agonist” new album “Five”

Friday seems “So Far Away” from me what with a new “Alter Bridge” album being released.

Whenever I see something like this I think to myself “If civilians didn’t carry guns, would the police pull they’re gun out?  Probably if the perpetrator had a knife.  Would they shoot if not needed?  Wait were you there, do you know exactly what took place?”

If you think the police will shoot you, don’t call them & don’t cause any harm to anyone, why are you somewhere the police are needed, pretty simple?

I never got into “Nine Inch Nails” or any “industrial metal” for that matter

The “Alter Bridge” album that’s released on Friday should be right up my alley!!!!!!!

I think I should call or email TLC. Kim and Sherry both have a weird obsession. Sherry has issues with putting googly eyes on EVERYTHING. Kim constantly wants to look in my ear. “If you need a flashlight, you’re going too deep & you’ll hit my brain with a Q-Tip.”

I buy a TON of movies & yes I’ll watch them multiple times if Kim isn’t a fan of them. Then I watch 1 or 2 throughout the work week. If I have the first one & really like it, of course I’ll get the second one! What blu-rays have I purchased this year? Only a couple so far, Star Wars VII : The Force Awakens, & Deadpool. What do I plan on buying? Batman vs. Superman, Captain America : The Civil War, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 (yes, it was me that liked the first one), Finding Dory, & whatever else I’ve forgotten or has yet to be mentioned.

I buy TV series as well but ordered from www.amazon.ca. They’re cheaper on DVD & there are multiple discs in a series. Save some money that way. I’d like to get ‘Modern Family’ or a subscription to www.shomi.com, the series is on there. All we have for a streaming service is Netflix.

Basically I just like to be entertained.

I was wondering when someone from Halestorm would do this.

BEN FOLDS FIVE

Sunday, February 9th 2014

Yep, I’ll go alphabetically through my iTunes library

I only have the one album by them, on CD.  The “Whatever & Ever Amen” album.  There’s quite a few other albums on iTunes though.  Ben Folds is one of the 3 judges on the singing competition show “The Sing-Off” where acapella groups sing.  Either a choir, instruments and a lead vocalist or if the group is big enough, everything.

He has a few solo albums and the Ben Folds Five albums as well.  You may know this song from the CD I have?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wt5EHAqhR1c I think I was in high school when this was all over the radio?  It’s a pretty decent album in my opinion.  Here’s another sample from that album.

NOT FOR KIDS! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVk_e31dnlE

I already know what I’ll be doing Friday, April 4th 2014 @ 5pm or after, Sherry Hastings may want to join the fun that night with a few other friends that will be here.  Toronto Blue Jays season opener against the New York Yankees.  That is very close to a second Christmas for me, Jays games always get me excited!  I know people think it’s lame and boring, not me though!

We haven’t even had our 9 year wedding anniversary yet and Kim’s already planning our 10th anniversary at a hot, beach, all inclusive resort!  I hate traveling and we’ll have to get new passports since ours are expired, and we didn’t have the money to go on a honeymoon after our wedding.  I’m going though!  I’ll go anywhere but Vegas.  I don’t gamble, I don’t drink excessively anymore, and I hate going through customs more than anyone else I know.  I’m a tad over weight and I burn at the drop of a hat!  I’ll do anything for Kim though, even if she wants to go to *&^%$# Vegas.  There’s my rant about traveling.
