Friday August 25th we went to my parents’ house.  Mom’s birthday, we ordered Chinese food & watched the Roughriders vs. the Eskimos in Edmonton on dad’s 92” HD projector in the basement.  Yes, I fell in the kitchen getting out of my wheelchair.  Not the first time & likely not the last time that I’ll fall.  I’m fine, no big deal, so far, it happens.

Saturday August 26, Kim had a work BBQ to attend, I stayed behind to watch Brewster.  We watched “Deadpool” for the 14th time, & I’m not exaggerating that number.

Sunday was a lot of cleaning & laundry going on here.

Monday August 28, had some friends from out of town over.  Some in Regina for Guns n’ Roses, some who were just here for the summer break for university.

Tuesday night I was off to a metal show.  Saw ‘The Agonist’ from Montreal, Quebec.  Female fronted band with 5 albums to their name.  Not very many people there since it was a Tuesday.  Thanks to my younger but bigger brother for taking me.

Wednesday we went to have coffee & lunch with my mom.  They also had a few of my movies they were done with.

Thursday I slept in, like really slept in.  By the time I had showered & got dressed it was just after 11:00 am.  Mostly a free day here.  Hello couch!  I was flipping around the channels & saw that “Much Retro” was on, saw these two fossil fuel 1980s hits & changed the channel.  Too much retro, too retro.

Friday we went out for lunch & went to the mall, (I needed new undies, and no I did not poop in any of my retired undies).  Looked at some other stores.  Long time since I had been in an album store!  Tons of vinyl & ridiculously cheap CDs.  If I knew how to transfer vinyl to digital for my iPod & had room/money for a vinyl collection, I’d seriously consider buying vinyl albums.  The day ended doing a few things around the house, then to the couch.  Watched a bit of stuff on our DVR and flipped to the Blue Jays game, which I thought would be a blow out in favour of Baltimore.  Only 1 run in 13 innings for Baltimore who won the game 1-0.  The Blue Jays aren’t mathematically out of a playoff spot, but anyone watching the games or even score board watching knows they’re out of it.  Unless they win the final 27 games of the season (from September 2nd on) & rely on other teams to lose 10 games or more.

Saturday afternoon we went to Sherry & James’.  Our friend Gerry was in town.  He lives in Saskatoon & worked in the same office as Sherry.  He’s originally from Labrador & yes, he has the Newfoundland accent.

Sunday was the Labour Day classic in Regina.  Saskatchewan Roughriders vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers.  Next week the Roughriders are Winnipeg for the “Banjo Bowl”.  Riders won the Labour Day classic, & I think they have a good shot at winning the banjo bowl as well.  Nolan had a great way of looking at it.  The Riders have been winning the last 3 games by a large margin, Winnipeg has been winning by a few points.  We’ll see what happens I guess.

I have a very strange sunburn from the game.  Left arm, left side of each leg, & a V-neck burn from my jersey, mostly on the left side of my neck.  Why is this an odd burn?  The sun was right in front of us, & I had 2 people to my left.

Here it is, Labour Day Monday.  Kim’s doing laundry, I’ll be making a juice for the week, etc.  Like the end of most weekends, we’re just getting ready for the 4 day week ahead.

Since the Guns n’ Roses show was here on Sunday, August 27th, I highly recommend “Diemonds” to any & all GNR fans.  I’m not a GNR fan & even I like “Diemonds”

As of Tuesday, I’ve listened to Queens of the Stone Age too many times (20) since late Thursday night!

Go to 1:30 and the song should start in a few seconds.  All you’re missing is a long opening of echoes & reverb

Long article with Mark Tremonti of Alter Bridge & his solo project Tremonti

I never shared any videos since they were all silent videos at the time.  Prince didn’t want to have his music free on the internet.  I don’t listen to him all of the time, but I’ll listen to him 4 or 5 times a year.

I’m still listening to Queens of the Stone Age, just not as much.

New Foo Fighters September 15th.  9 minute interview with the band.

Green Day albums ranked.  I’ll take “Dookie”, “Nimrod”, “Kerplunk”, “Insomniac”, & “Warning” in no particular order.

Disappointing?  The site had 10 viewings by 6 people from Canada & Italy.  On Facebook we hit 59 views.  I can’t tell who’s reading this but thank you!  The low numbers tell me a possibility of 2 things.  Not many people are reading it or if you’ve subscribed it doesn’t count towards a viewing.  Again, I can’t make each post a winner!  Oh well.  As long as you’re getting what you’re here for, numbers don’t really matter.

I fell asleep to “Queens of the Stone Age” the album “Lullabies to Paralyze”

I exercised to “Portal” the album “Blood Red Tape”.  Tool & A Perfect Circle fans listen up!

They’re an independent band from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

I’m here as much as I need a break from this thing!  I’ve upped my sets of pushups & I’m “exhausted”, & I still have stuff to do around the house.  Other than Mondays, I get excited & think to myself “Yay, it’s Friday!!!!!”  Then I snap back to reality & think “Ah, fudge sickle it’s Tuesday”.  Each day is a little more difficult than the day before & by Friday, I’m living on coffee.  Even on Monday I was tired, the only reason I got up was because I had to pee, or else I would have stayed in bed.

I look forward to the weekend as much as most people do.  I may not work a 40 hour work week.  Between exercise & stuff around the house, I keep myself pretty busy.  When Friday comes around I’m relieved that it’s the weekend.

Not much in the pop-culture news.  Some orange guy is hoarding ALL of the news.

Foo Fighters & Rick Astley?  LANGUAGE!!!!!!!  AUDIO/VIDEO IN THE LINK

Does this mean that Rick Astley is the surprise guest on the new Foo Fighters album?  One is Paul McCartney drumming on a song but they’re not letting anyone know who the second guest is?

Britney Spears covers Bonnie Raitt’s “Something to talk about”

At Fenway Park they always sing “Sweet Caroline” during the 7th inning stretch.  This is the best version I’ve seen!

I can’t wait for the new ‘Queens of the Stone Age’ album “Villains” on Friday.  I don’t sleep a ton.  I’ll see if iTunes has fixed the mistake on their end & grab it Thursday evening.  I preordered it on iTunes, but the second single didn’t come through for me.  I called the iTunes support line, they told me they had never seen that problem before?  Friday, I might be on the phone all day?

The album was produced by Mark Ronson.  The same guy that produced this little hit song.

Movies I’d like to see…

But is it real?  Multiple re-writes & directors.  If it is real, get ready for the world to tell you how bad it was.  Like Batman vs. Superman, or Nickelback, everybody talks about how awful the movie or music is but both have made millions of dollars.  So who’s spending money on them?  I love Batman vs. Superman, & they have my money.  I have watched that movie at least 15 times!

I am EXTREMELY claustrophobic.  In 2008 MRIs & radiation treatments freaked me out.  MRIs are loud, they give you ear plugs before you’re in it.  Then they would slide me in the machine as far as I could go, my shoulders are too broad to go into the MRI machine.  My nurses at the Pasqua Hospital would give me a Benadryl to sleep through it.  The final time in the MRI, I woke up before I was put in the machine, I freaked out.  They gave me a bean bag to toss if something was wrong.  There was always something wrong, me wearing a plastic mask shoved in a tiny hole that I didn’t fit into that well.

Radiation treatments bothered me too.  I had to wear a very tight mask over my face, so tight it would touch my nose & squish it a bit, not fun!

I’m really glad I don’t have to do any of that anymore.  Now I go for a CT scan every year & a half.  Not nearly as cramped as an MRI, much better!

It’s Wednesday, December 7, 2016.  My sciatic nerve is still bugging me, at this point it’s annoying.  Not nearly as painful as it was initially.  Just annoying & preventing me from exercising.  I haven’t exercised in 2 ½ weeks, that really bothers me.  I’m not pretty enough to be a trophy husband!

I thought this would slow down more.  Most groups/musicians seemed to save everything for the last three months of 2016.

…and I need to know what Kim & Kanye are up to why?

Foo Fighters on their future.  LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trainwreck was good, I was expecting it to be funnier though

I’ve never heard of this festival in Montreal?

Pentatonix Christmas special on NBC December 14th 7:00 pm in Saskatchewan!  Set your Betamax, VHS, TIVO, PVR, DVR, Microwave, Oven………………wait those last 2 are for food, AH well, you might want some warm “cheesy poofs”

In Flames tune at number 10 on the metal charts!

I checked out “Gojira” who seem to be getting a lot of buzz in the metal genres.  I have Lamb of God, Pantera & Slayer.  I’m not sure that I need “Gojira”?  This is from their 5th/most recent release.

Kill some time voting for your favourite hard rock/metal band of 2016.  I had 2 options & went with Anthrax.

Carpool Karaoke with Madonna

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.  I don’t think he liked 2016?  LOTS OF LANGUAGE IF YOU CAN’T TELL BY THE TITLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only thing missing was a mic drop!

Pretty funny/intense cover of Foo Fighters’ ‘Everlong’ by Rick Astley.  Cover & original inside the link.

I’ve never heard anything like this.  The Baltimore Orioles won’t sign Jose Bautista because “The fans don’t like him”.  Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Metallica book a small intimate show in Hollywood.  I like their new album, I intend to purchase it on iTunes

I’m not a fan of Disturbed, I was when I was in my early 20s.  If you like them that’s great.  They release a cover of “The Sound of Silence” & it’s this HUGE mega hit.  What did it do for me?  It reminded me of the 3 disc boxset I have of Simon & Garfunkel that I bought when I was 17.  With the original version by Simon & Garfunkel & how much I like the original.

Yes, I own 4 box sets, Led Zeppelin, Simon & Garfunkel, Nirvana, & Alter Bridge

Alter Bridge released their boxset after their 4th album.  The boxset contains multiple DVDs of interviews with individual band members, a book, all 4 CDs, & all 4 albums on vinyl.  Along with an autographed poster, & my name engraved on the outside of the box.

Will Metallica continue into their 60s & 70s?

A new Spiderman movie!

Vote for your favourite rock song of 2016!

The last release from Lacuna Coil was heavier than what I thought I was getting.  Here’s a holiday tune from them.

If you’re getting this on facebook, please like & share it?

Give the site a moment to load all of the links. It takes a bit for my computer & it crashes on Kim’s cell.

Why is iTunes illegal in the U.K.? They made it illegal because of the burning software? We’ve always been able to trade vinyl, 8 tracks, cassettes, & CDs. We we’re also allowed to make mix tapes & mix CDs? Now that’s illegal? So Apple Music, “free” music that you basically rent, can flourish? Once you pay $5.99 for digital music, that you own, now you can’t share it or burn a copy legally in the U.K.? That’s just weird? I really don’t care how you get your music. If it’s through a streaming site, I don’t get it? You pay $9.99 a month for “free” music, if you want to hear a song you downloaded today on Apple Music, in 20 years you may have to continue paying $9.99 a month to hear it in 2035. All of that time you’ve paid $2397.60 to hear the same song from 20 years ago?

Should a contractor do the same? “I built that house 20 years ago. They should pay me monthly until it falls to the ground”. Would you buy the house under that law? I personally wouldn’t. I tend to think Apple should distribute the money made through iTunes & the purchase of iPods needs to be re-evaluated & distributed fairly. They got the idea right, just the disbursement of money is screwed up. We’ve all been able to own our music, but now that’s illegal in the UK?

Jimmy Fallon making cocktails. “What do you do with Apricot Brandy?”  If you’re Kayll Schaefer you catch up to Corey & I in 2002? Through a straw, whatever you’re friend left in the fridge! I don’t know how full the fridge was, but there was free Apricot Brandy in there! Doesn’t everybody get hammered on a Thursday when Friday is optional? Corey & I did.

10 best thrash bands of all time. Another metal sub-genres I don’t acknowledge. It’s metal! You either like it or not. End of story!

Is Trivium “thrash” or not?……………wait……………….I don’t care.

So I wake up this morning screaming. I was dreaming. In my dream there was a rat coming at me & Brewster was with me. I was walking & Brewster was on his leash with me. I tried to kick the rat in my dream. I woke up & had kicked my wheelchair & woke up at 7:30 screaming in pain. Brewster was on me instantly to see if I was OK. He’s such a good dog. I fell back to sleep for a few minutes, then woke up for good at 8:00. I don’t have kids, but I don’t really sleep in. On the weekends I’m usually awake by 9:30 during the week I get up either when Kim leaves for work or I wake when she’s showering. Brewster is usually the last 1 in bed!

The Toronto Blue Jays scored half the points the Saskatchewan Roughriders did Saturday night. Blue Jays won their game 15-3 Riders lost 34-31. After 8 games the Roughriders have yet to win 0W-8L. Blue Jays will, at the very least, play a wild card game to get into the playoffs. Riders playoff hope? No, that’s a pipe dream.

Kim did it, we watched “Red Dragon”, the prequel to “Silence of the Lambs”. The movies aren’t as freaky as they were 12 or 13 years ago when I was alone house sitting for my grandparents. Big empty house after watching those movies, then going to bed? I ran up the stairs I was so scarred I’d see Anthony Hopkins behind me, trying to eat me!

20 years ago “Rancid” released “…And Out Come The Wolves”

Foo Fighters retaliate against Kansas City Baptist Church picketers with Rick Astley’s ’80s hit “Never Gonna Give You Up”! because of this tour promo video in 2011. Maybe the picketers should protest outside any building with a public shower, YMCA/YWCA, etc.? Oh, snap the “C” stands for Christians!

Pink Floyd announces they’re done.

Songs I like, “Odds” 4 CDs.
