Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Exercise total for 4 days.

500 Curls w/ 20 pound dumb bells

300 Shoulder raises/Chest presses w/ 10 pound dumb bells

700 Crunches

600 Leg lifts

200 Squats

400 Back flexes

As for the hacker, stuffs probably going to keep happening.  Again a lot of weird stuff all at once.  I know it’s all connected but I don’t understand why someone does these type of things?  The few things I use digitally are useless.  So a HUGE waste of money on our part.  My Facebook news feed, youtube feed, & iPod are all just not working like they used to, my iPod got a lot of use & now it’s a really good paper weight.  Nothing harmful has happened thus far.  I’m not going to waste my time & energy worrying about it though.

I mentioned last week or earlier that I don’t feel sorry for myself.  I haven’t felt sorry for myself since mid-2015.  I’ve been in a quarantine situation/lifestyle since 2014, so this truly is normal to me.  Having been through it & getting really angry about it, I get that because I’ve been there & at the time I was acting like the biggest jerk in the world.  I’d say that the majority of others have handled this virus thing much better than me in 2014.

You’ll notice that my hobby is an indoor activity that I don’t need other people to do.  Because “Anyone can play guitar” with a little bit of motivation & a TON of passion to do it well goes a LONG way.  That was a total act of luck on my part, much like surviving cancer.  According to the doctors I shouldn’t be here right now.  I was given a 5-15% chance of ever coming out of A Coma & I was told by many doctors that my cancer would come back in 2013.  I figure I’m here for a reason so I should make the best of it.

I was watching a baseball game the other day & realized that I still don’t relax.  I finally got off the couch & grabbed a guitar to practice while watching the game.  Whatever I watch on TV always makes me feel guilty since I think I should be doing something more productive.

There are many times that I feel like I don’t contribute much here as things are because I don’t earn my sub-$30,000 paycheck a year.  I do dishes, I typically tend to the dishwasher, I make my breakfast & lunch for the week, I clean the areas I can get to in the bathrooms, but I wouldn’t be able to do any of that without Kim going out & doing her stuff first.  Doing that amount of exercise each week makes my road to recovery better & I take pride in it but always remember to be humble.  I often feel like a mooch regardless.

I can’t just spend money all WILLY NILLY on guitars.  We have that income tax to deal with this year & I still have to sell my 7 string, which is being repaired as it fell over & had a purely cosmetic flaw on it.  It’s repaired & more by a local luthier.  I got last night, wish I knew how to play a 7 string guitar?  He did a LOT more than fix the tiny blemish he redid the tuners, wrapped new strings a different way & adjusted the neck, it sounds MUCH better!  I’ll likely post it for sale Monday or Tuesday.

I caught myself watching/reading more reviews & demos on Mark Morton’s signature Jackson Dominion which is chambered, has locking tuners, & coil splitting ability so instead of it being on the fence, it’s in for now.  I ended up seeing a demo/review of the PRS Special Semi hollow and I still say it’s nice but WAY too much money.  Heck a Core PRS guitar and a Trini Lopez are both individually WAY too expensive.  Watching demos on any Core PRS is just “poison” for me.  Now I want all 4 of the less expensive guitars.  “I NEED ALL THE GUITARS!!!!”  I will say that PRS’ marketing got me hook, line, & sinker…even though I’ll never be able to afford any Core model.

LANGUAGE, A LOT OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is now in the mix with the PRS S2 McCarty 594, Godin Radiator, & Sterling Cutlass!

https://www.long-mcquade.com/164476/Guitars/Electric-Guitars/Jackson-Guitars/Pro-Series-Signature-Mark-Morton-Dominion–Ebony-Fingerboard—Silverburst.htm

I’m so glad I’m (hopefully) done guitar shopping.  I don’t even want to hear, see, or smell any news about another guitar…yeah I’ve seen people smell a guitar.  I just want to hunker down and play them!

I can’t convince Kim to use our credit card for this, she wants me to be responsible & save for them!  What’s responsible about buying a guitar in the first place????  Responsibility left the building a LONG time ago!

Well since I’m (trying) to be responsible, I’ll order the PRS S2 McCarty 594 in early December then I’ll see if any of the other 3 guitars are still available.  I can pretty much guarantee that I’ll be shopping again for suitable & hopefully cheaper replacements once something is out of production.  Income tax can’t wait, so any guitar purchase is put on hold in order to be ‘responsible’ oh, & our RSP & RDSP.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was watching “The Conners” and one of the 44 year old daughters is going to rehab for alcoholism.  The family was trying to find an affordable rehab center.  I’d just like to have enough money to have a drinking problem in the first place.

I’ve been playing/practicing this song all week while watching baseball so it’s coming along just fine.  Kim will be sick of this riff by the time I know it, if she isn’t already!

When you’re practicing something on guitar people say to practice at a slower tempo.  So I’m learning a song at the wrong tempo only to eventually speed it up?  I practice a song at the proper tempo & iron out the parts I have trouble with as I repeat the song many times.  To me it’s like doing 2 lessons once.  It may take me a bit longer to learn but it seems like a better approach to it all, to me that way.

I’m waiting to hear about an album from Alter Bridge’s lead guitarist Mark Tremonti.  I assume there’s no news because his bass player, Wolfgang Van Halen, is releasing his debut solo album.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Exercise total for 5 days.

500 Curls w/ 20 pound dumb bells

300 Shoulder raises/Chest presses w/ 10 pound dumb bells

900 Crunches

900 Leg lifts

300 Squats

600 Back flexes

Exercise was really good this week.  Thursday’s weights are usually tough to get through & I take a nap on too many Thursday afternoons, not this week though.  I had pep in my roll, got up early, ate my tiny breakfast, exercised, had a small snack, showered and was editing this post by 10:30 am.  More repetitions with less weight make me more toned than bulky, & eating 5-6 small meals works for me.

In my 20s until 6 days after my 28th birthday when I was rushed to the hospital by ambulance from work, I was a functioning alcoholic.  15 beer between a Friday & Saturday night was pretty common, followed by 2 beer a night during the work week.  I just drink whatever was beside me.  So now I put water beside me all day with an occasional tea and/or a Bubbly carbonated water.  I guess you could say that going through having cancer saved my life.

It seems like my annual MRI might be delayed until everyone has had their first shot of a vaccine.  It’s a drive through deal here.  I can’t drive.  I’ve had my 41st birthday already this year, Kim doesn’t turn 40 until October.  Instead of Kim waiting 5 hours twice, I figure I’ll just go with Kim when her age group is due to go, which could be before the end of May?  If I could drive myself this wouldn’t be an issue, I’d take the vaccine ASAP.

I don’t know what the rest of this year will look like until we figure out how much we can pay to income tax in a month’s time?  Could be manageable or terrible?  I’m guessing I won’t be ordering a guitar this year & that’s OK with me, I just got one!  I also know that we won’t be house hunting next year.  I’m gonna cut some grocery treats out & keep going fairly minimal on other things as I have been.  The entire paying back taxes ordeal “…wears me out…”

This nails my reasons for a modest amount of guitars that are different in shapes, styles, tunings, scale length’s, & string width.  It also explains how guitar shopping too much & many other things are not a “good thing”.

Learning theory on guitar should not be this fun!  Already in 2 weeks I’ve created a couple of guitar parts to add to the one I made sometime last year.  I’m not going to record them but I’ll gladly show my brother when this virus thing is over so his band can use them, if they want to.  I wrote lyrics, not music.  What’s the worst he’ll say?  “No”.

In order to soften the blow on this income tax ordeal and still enjoy quality made guitars.  These are both in with the PRS S2 McCarty 594 while the Schecter Tempest becomes a plan B should something be discontinued.

You’d think a less expensive guitar would please Kim?  Not the case.  I got a “What for?”  I’d be more than happy with these in my arsenal of guitars for the variety of sounds at a MUCH lower price.  Price matters of course but more importantly is does the person playing the instrument like it?  From the reviews I’ve read & heard, I’d be surprised if I didn’t like them.

The Schecter Tempest seems to be a great guitar.  My buddy has a Schecter & my www.youtube.com guitar guru says it’s a great guitar.  The problem is that it’s not Canadian, it’s more money than I should be considering especially now, & it’ll likely sound very similar to the Godin radiator.  There are different Godin guitars that are in the style of a Stratocaster but they’re more expensive than the Tempest.  So cosmetically I’d pick the Tempest, but sonically I choose the Sterling Cutlass with some high end guitar appointments often found at a much higher price point.  It’s tough trying to be responsible while being irresponsible!

I figure that with this income tax ordeal, I’ll just save for the PRS S2 McCarty 594 and see if it’s still around when I go to order it?  If it’s not I’ll see if the other 2 are around or see what similar but less expensive options are out there.  Might as well “Ease my mind” about the future.

This PRS S2 McCarty 594 truly has no affordable plan B.  This is a definite must have and hopefully available for the next purchase!

These decisions make me feel much better in our current situation, & overall in general.  More variety that maintains the quality at a significantly lower price.

In a better world I’d have this…

Upgrade/replace the Sterling Cutlass with this guitar https://godinguitars.com/product/passion-rg-3-indigo-burst-mn

Upgrade/replace my Squier Starcaster with a DG-335

https://reverb.com/ca/p/gibson-dave-grohl-signature-dg-335

Upgrade/replace my PRS S2 custom 22 semi hollow with this new Core PRS Special semi-hollow guitar[C1] …

Upgrade/replace my future PRS S2 McCarty 594 with this pretty Core version…

…& buy 1 of these 2 guitars

https://www.schecterguitars.com/guitars/custom/tempest-custom-vwht-1-detail

https://www.jacksonguitars.com/gear/shape/dominion/pro-series-signature-mark-morton-dominion/2912626521

All of this is if I had the money, while keeping my first 3 guitars, the Ian Thornley signed Telecaster I received from a great friend while in the hospital & keeping the future purchase of the Godin radiator.  Of course finding a wheelchair accessible house in Regina too.  Of course I’d love to have the 4 members of “Alter Bridge” sign a PRS, 5 members of “Lamb of God” sign the Jackson Dominion, & the 6 members of “Foo Fighters” sign the DG-335.  Kim would have 3-6 high end digital camera lenses for her photography hobby.

It’s far from a perfect world though.  Right now, it could be a LOT worse.  I guess that’s 2 upgrades to replace some that I have, 2 upgrades to replace future purchases & 1 other guitar.  I even like my 7 string, I’m just not a 7string player and that’s why I plan to sell.  If we were ever in a financially great situation I’d be giving my brother and other family & friends the less expensive guitars, donate to 8 charities annually off the top of my head, we’d make sure our parents are comfortable.  If we were filthy rich we’d look after as many people as possible.

With all of that being said, that’s not “…the world I know…” I like what I have & my 3 future purchases & I’m very fortunate for EVERYTHING & EVERYBODY in my life.  We need to start buying lottery tickets.  Until we win the lottery, that’s my “Wishlist”!  Fun to dream.

What happened to the #BlackLivesMatter movement?  The problem was never resolved but people just stopped having peaceful protests & talking about it in general.  Are we just waiting for more Asian/Americans to be killed to start an #AsianLivesMatter movement?  Now that there’s a vaccine for Covid-19, there’s been 2 mass shootings in the USA in 2 weeks.  I don’t hear much talk about that & I don’t see peaceful protests on the news.  Does this mean everyone’s OK with it?  Don’t take away guns, make it only legal if registered, only hunting/non-automatic rifles, & not allowed in public.  You don’t need a gun to go to a spa, restaurant, hotel, school, or anywhere but hunting with a one shot rifle!  Is the only way to stop gun violence putting EVERYONE on house arrest?  I’m far from perfect & always will be but at least I’m trying.

Even now with T**** gone, I’m here in Canada thinking “What the H.E. double hockey sticks is going on south of the border?”

Sure I stopped drinking alcohol at the end of January or “one week” into February, so it wasn’t long ago.  Gotta start somewhere though, it wasn’t a problem after cancer.  I had cut back quite a bit to save money for my rekindled love of guitars, so I figured I might as well just stop.  It’s also nice to be completely sober, “…I don’t like the feeling of being out of control…”

Our brother-in-law is eyeing up a Jackson Dinky guitar.  Kim’s sister googled it to see what it looked like!  I hope she just googled Jackson guitars!?  Anything else could potentially bring up some questionable photos?  I don’t know which one he’s looking at but here’s the selection on the website…

https://www.jacksonguitars.com/gear/shape/dinky?sort=new

This clip was just HILARIOUS & needed to be shared for a good laugh.

After my exercise is done for the day, I’ve spent my time this week practicing theory stuff, playing my newest addition A LOT, & practicing 2 of the numerous songs I left off part way through learning them.

If you’re reading this or not I’ve had breakfast & completed my exercise for the week.  Now I’ll have a small snack, shower, pour myself a cup of tea, have my 2nd liter of water while practicing guitar.

The new “Evanescence” album ‘The Bitter Truth’ was released at midnight eastern time.  I haven’t listened to it yet because I’d fall asleep through any album & my hacker has taken control of my iPod rendering it useless as I expect most wireless devices to be.

Welcome back to the program!  You’re here so if you like what you see, might as well subscribe?  Either on Facebook or with your email in the bottom right corner, it’s really that easy & it’s free!  I know you want to tell your friends, go ahead!

Exercise total for 5 days.

500 Curls w/ 20 pound dumb bells

300 Shoulder raises/Chest presses w/ 10 pound dumb bells

900 Crunches

900 Leg lifts

300 Squats

450 Back flexes

1:05 hour of yoga over 2 days

I don’t need to do this all year, so this will be the last update for 2020.  My full exercise is done for the year, over the next 2 weeks I’ll be doing ½ the amount of exercise as you see above.  Beyond daily stretching & yoga a few times, likely more crunches as well.  I’m feeling great but my body will welcome a break.

My food intake will stay the same.  There won’t be any guests here over the holidays, so we won’t be putting out chocolates or other holiday treats.  Other than Christmas Eve & day, my food will stay the course.  It’ll still be water & a bit of tea for fluids.  Probably some Light Eggnog with Skim milk.  Alcohol will be minimal.  I do drink some gin but I’ve had a 26 ounce bottle in our liquor cupboard since May & it might be down 8 ounces.  When it’s gone nothing but Baron Samedi Spiced Rum & the odd craft beer will be purchased.  Even our “Bubbly” carbonated flavoured water has been here for over a month.

I say that & there was a sale on craft beer from Rebellion Brewing in Regina on Wednesday.  32 ounce growlers filled for $7, I got 2 growlers filled (4 pints in total) I enjoy trying different flavours of craft beer.  Kim even got a can of Sour Raspberry.  We bought the beer on Wednesday, I won’t touch it until later on today, tomorrow or next weekend?

This has been my year.  I dropped 57 pounds, I feel much stronger, and I like to think I’ve made progress (positively) on my mental health & knee jerk reactions.  I’ve also made a TON of progress on guitar.  I know more about music theory, still not much & I’ve learned a lot more about the instrument & how everything works as well as how to fix some issues.

The dark red burst Wolf brand Les Paul will be my final guitar purchase.  I can say that with a strong conviction.  I like the different sounds of “Humbucker pickups”.  I’ll have 7 different guitars with different “Humbucker” pickups & a Telecaster with a lipstick pickup & a single coil pickup.  I’m not a big fan of single coil pickups & I don’t need any different sounding humbucker guitars.  I’ve found that most of what I listen to has big sounding humbucker pickups.  There’s also that money issue, in that I need to start putting money away for 20 years down the road, but I can only save $5000/year for the next 10 years for the government to add to my RDSP, which I can’t touch until I’m 60.  I’m 40 until late January.

PRS S2 McCarty 594, amplifier & foot switch followed by the Wolf Les Paul & I’m spent as far as large purchases go, literally.

I prefer the new red wine burst, the darker one.

Comparable but WAY more expensive.

Both of these look GREAT but are far beyond my price range & wildest dreams.

The BIG things coming up for us are renovations & Brewster’s health.  I’m pretty sure this will be his last Christmas & January 31st he’ll turn 15 which will likely be his last birthday, but I hope I’m wrong.  I know I’ll be a mess for sure.  I don’t even like thinking about it.  I’m never alone since he’s got severe anxiety if one of us isn’t here!

We got rid of our streaming box yesterday.  No cable since noon yesterday until sometime tomorrow, oh well?

This is what I’ve been working on for songs on guitar this week.

All of those above are good & just need repetition.  I started working on the following song Wednesday afternoon.  Had to figure out some other parts that weren’t in the tab for it.

I guess this song by “Dead Sara” will be on their next/3rd album which is still being recorded.

HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY SEASON & BE WELL ALL!  I’ll check my email, Facebook, & this site throughout the holidays.  I’ll return to blogging on here on Tuesday, January 5th.

Music throughout the weekend.  “Foo Fighters”, “Radiohead”, “Testament”, “Tool”, & “Opeth”

Friday evening we caught up on some TV from the week.  We seem to be quite busy these days & not watch nearly as much TV as we used to.  With Kim being at work & me being busy at home and moving a bit slower than I’d like in a wheelchair, we watch Ellen Degeneres, another show, & one of us will watch something the doesn’t want to.  I do watch a recorded Late Show with Stephen Colbert the next day while Kim’s at work.

My tummy was a bit off Friday night, so I didn’t sleep great.  Hello couch Saturday morning & all is well!  I slept for about 2 or 3 hours on the couch after finally getting out of bed at about 6 am, slept from 8:40 am until 11:50 am or so & was ready to go.  All we had on was our “niece’s” 6th birthday party at 5 pm.

“Auntie Kim, what’s in the present?”  Nice try but Auntie Kim’s smarter than a 6 year old.  I got cuddles from our 1 ½ year old “nephew” as soon as he saw me.  Kim was only a little “jealous”.

I’m sure our “niece” had a long day.  Presents, cake, kids birthday party followed by family friends birthday party, hide & seek, & what looked like mechanical bull riding on a small bouncy toy cow.  Sort of looked like this sheep….

Always good times with the kids!

Today is a get ready for a, hopefully, busy week ahead.  My eggs & vegetable juice are done.  Now to get hyped up to cram as much exercise & guitar in.  Watch the last Blue Jays game of the year, clear off as much of the DVR as possible & get to bed at a reasonable hour tonight.

The making of Alter Bridges’ new album “Walk the Sky” out October 18th

YAY!!  It’s official & done Spider-man is back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Off the record with Alter Bridge!

Sure, rock & metal music are starting to come back.  Both genres aren’t popular enough for the stage of the Super Bowl Half-Time Show…..yet.  I’m not sure Dee Snider of 80s band “Twisted Sister” is the guy to call out the NFL at this point?

New “Jimmy Eat World” album out called “Surviving” on October 18th.

BURN THE PRIEST

This is actually “Lamb of God”.  Their first album was released under the name “Burn the Priest”, I’ve never been a fan of that album.  They did release a cover album last year under the name “Burn the Priest”.  This is an album of cover songs that cross the punk/metal influences they have…

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today’s the final day of the regular season for baseball.  Which means I’m done with the Blue Jays for the year.  There was no hope of them making the playoffs months ago.

162 games per team in a season.  With game left today, the Jays are right where I predicted they’d be 66W-95L.  I figured at the start of the year they’d finish with 65-75 wins this year.  In 2020 or more likely 2021 I figure they’ll be a contender.  Other teams are already calling them a dangerous team.  They’re the 2nd youngest team in baseball for average age of players.  They get a few decent pitchers in the offseason & keep the young guys together, they’ll be fine.  The kids are alright.

If you’re getting this through Facebook, give it a like or other reaction, or share it.  That’s the only way of promoting this site, since I’m not profiting from this in any way.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Coheed and Cambria” the album “IV”

I exercised to “Big Sugar” the album “Heated”

Monday was supposed to be my first appointment with a psychiatrist.  I wrote down the date & time while on the phone, June 10th at 11:20 am.  Kim missed half a day off work for it (if she’s not at work, she doesn’t get paid).  We got up around 7:30 am.  Kim hit the shower, while I did ¼ of my exercises.  Dropped off Brewster at Kim’s sister’s place (he has anxiety issues in a bad way.  We’ve had a noise complaint once shortly after we moved here).

Drop off Brewster & head off to my appointment.  We go in up to the front desk.  Kim says “Appointment for Chris_______”.  The lady checks her computer and asks “Christopher?” “Yes” replies Kim.  “He doesn’t have an appointment here until this date with that doctor”. What a waste of Kim’s morning.  Either I screwed up the date (which we both think is highly unlikely) or they messed something up.  Either way it’s money from Kim’s paycheck we can’t get back & the future date is going to be a gong show of a day for us, already too much on the go.  If only I could drive?  Unfortunately my iPatch, slow reflexes, & legs that don’t fully work, prevent me from doing so.  I keep asking, & I get the same response “Nah, not this time” Hahahahaha!

Nobody said I should see a professional about my frustration or knee jerk reactions.  I started to notice that people around me were just waiting to see when the time bomb would go off.  Well after 2 explosions, 8 or 9 years apart.  That’s far too many for me.  So later on I’ll be seeing someone this month.

My cousin wanted to exercise with me on Monday.  I spent the rest of my day at my parents’ place.  So I counted out loud for us.  I think I broke here, even though she’s in her early 30s.  “OK, we’ll start with 150 crunches.”  We get to 50 & she needs to take a short rest.  I told her “If anything starts to hurt, just stop”.  I do 150 crunches with no break.  I’d do more but I need to be careful regarding my back.  We finished the crunches & moved on to leg lifts.  I do 200 in a half crunch with my legs down, then alternate between the 2 legs up & down. I do 100 at a time & take a break in between sets.  I think she kept up with me or we did 4 sets of 50?  Then she asks me “Are we done?”  I replied “Nope, 100 back flexes to go.  I rest after 50 for a bit & then do another 50”, she kept up with me.  She looks at me & says “You do this 3 days a week after 150 squats?”  “Yes I do.  Then Tuesdays & Thursdays are stretching, yoga, & weights for about an hour to an hour & a half.”  I’m guessing she thinks I’m a little insane.

In other news, our air conditioner is now working!  As of Thursday last week the plumber needed to order a valve from Texas to fix it, so it was going to take roughly 8 weeks to have it installed here.  They found one here!  They put it in on Monday, & “so far so good”.  The building manager said we should keep the portable air conditioner for a week in case our air conditioner breaks down.  When Kim & I got home Monday night it was like a meat locker in here +18 Celcius.  We went to bed about an hour later & it was at +20.  It got a bit warmer since we changed the thermostat to +22.

If all of this is true & you use iTunes, don’t expect a single to come along with a preorder date.  The members of “Tool” prefer fans to listen to the entire album.  That is the reason for previous releases not being sold on iTunes or streaming sites until now.

I read recently that streaming music sites are not what they used to be as far as popularity goes.  I have one thought as to why this is happening.  I think a streaming site would make the music from it very disposable?  I could be way off base here, but that’s my guess.  I was buying CDs still in 2012 when I finished my physiotherapy.  1 CD a month.  Then I started to use iTunes & I still do $10 for a complete album, SWEET!  Kim put me on a monthly allowance to iTunes of $50 a month.  Now that I know what I want to purchase, I’ve scaled it down to $20 a month.  Saving money & listening more intently to the album in question.

The beauty & downfall of Napster was that you owned the music & didn’t pay anything for it.  With a streaming music site you pay a monthly fee to borrow the music.  You don’t own it & it can be taken away by the site at any moment & that would be legal.

I’ve got 2 albums on preorder.  Sum 41 in late July & The Agonist in September.  Tool members are saying August 30th, I’ll believe Tool when I have it or an unlikely preorder.

Are you all sick of hearing “Let it go” yet?  I don’t if there will be another song your kids will sing for a long time, but “Frozen 2” is coming.

ALTER BRIDGE

I don’t know what category these guys fit into?  The singer, Myles Kennedy, has the best voice I have ever heard.  He sings & never really had the desire to learn how to do death metal vocals.  The other 3 members are from the original line-up of “Creed”, drummer, bassist, & lead guitar.  Myles Kennedy didn’t tell them he played guitar until he was caught playing his guitar in his room on the first tour.  Even the lead guitarist, Mark Tremonti, says that Myles is better than him on guitar technically.

Don’t let the “Creed” connection worry you.  It’s like comparing apples to oranges.  Two completely different bands.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Radiohead” the album “The Bends”

I exercised to “Nickleback” the album “Feed the Machine”

YAY, Monday came right on time………………………..UGH!  Yay, exercise starts up for the week………ugh.  Well at least it’s Wednesday.  Everybody’s at work & so am I.  You’ll be working an 8 hour day or possibly more, I go all out for about an hour & a ½, during which the time I get horrendously sweaty, watch some TV while waiting for the energy to carry on with my day or more than likely hit the shower.

Then Kim comes home & follows me closely while I walk with my walker, just in case I stumble. We’ve been walking multiple laps in our suite.  I think it’s time to get down to our underground parking soon.  From the door to an outside wall is 100 meters.  I can do that, rest for a bit, & go back I think.

When I first left the rehabilitation program we went to the Lawson, well the field house.  Recumbent everything & a 200 meter track for walking, jogging, or running.  At the time I’d do 200 meters, rest then do 400 meters, rest do 200 more for a total of 800 meters.  Then Kim would jog on the track while I would use the recumbent stepper or exercise bike for 30-45 minutes.

If I had continued to do that I’d likely be using my walker more often now!  Yes, I’m an idiot more often than I’d like to be.  I’ve done it before, I can do it again.

Now when Kim gets home it’s more of a “Crap, time for more exercise.”  That’s probably why I don’t like it anymore?  I’m just starting to relax & I have to do my walking.  When I was at the Wascana Rehabilitation Center, I would wake up for therapy which would start at 9 am, do two 45 minute therapy sessions, have lunch when I was able to eat & drink, do 1 or 2 more therapy sessions & be done by 4:00 pm.

Before I could eat or drink I was on an IV of TPN.  I don’t know what that stands for but I was never hungry.  I learned how to eat solid food & then it was just an IV of water.  That of course went away eventually also.

Linkin Park released their album “Meteora” 16 years ago on Monday, March 25, 2003.

Keith Flint, singer of Prodigy, committed suicide at the age of 50.  I have one album of theirs from the 90s or maybe the early 2000s?  I listened to it once last year & before was likely 2 or 3 times when I bought the CD.

BLUES TRAVELER

I own 1 CD.  1994’s release “Four”.  My music growing up was more like acoustic rock music.  Can’t say I’m a huge fan of that now.  I do like this group & I’ve been a fan of the Barenaked Ladies from the beginning when I saw them on tour at the age of 12 in 1992.  The Blues Traveler album is acoustic rock with a harmonica that the lead singer plays.  That’s the only instrument he plays in the band I believe or at least on this album….

1994   FOUR

Skip to the 2:00 minute mark for Emma Stone’s lip sync!

I try not to talk much about baseball but I watch the Blue Jays almost every day & I played for 13 years of my life.  After watching Monday evening’s preseason game in Montreal, I’m very confused.  They spent $56,000,000 to buy out 2 contracts to make room for younger players.  Good move!

My 2 questions are the following.  Devon Travis has been with the Jays since 2014.  I don’t think he’s played a full season because of injury.  I think his shortest stint on the disabled list has been 2 weeks or a month.  Get rid of him, he’s a fragile piece of glass.  When he’s healthy he’s great, but he’s not healthy very often.  Bring up Bo Bichette to take Travis’ roster spot.  Probably cheaper & also younger (21 right now).

My second question is why is Kevin Pillar still the everyday center fielder?  He’s simply not fast enough at that position, reason for the so-called “TV dives” which don’t exist.  He’s also not that great of a batter.  Get rid of him & bring up Anthony Alford as a 4th outfielder.  My outfield is set!  McKinney in right, Grichuk in center, Hernandez in left, & Alford on the bench.  As for starting pitchers, they still have quite a few to look at, even though the regular season starts tomorrow.

If I was Bo Bichette I’d be wondering “What else do they want me to do to make this team & not be sent down to AAA Buffalo?”  As for Rowdy Tellez he’s still just OK to me.  I’m good if he’s here or in AAA.

It won’t cost anywhere near as much to pay out these 2 contracts!  To get rid of Pillar & Travis would cost at most $8,000,000 – $9,000,000.

Please share this, I’m not profiting from this at all.  Word of mouth is the only way of promoting this.

Music from this weekend!  “Coheed & Cambria”, “Foo Fighters”, “Radiohead”, “Live”, & “In Flames”

Wear a shirt, listen to the band!

Really quiet weekend here.  All we did Friday was watch TV.  Got up Saturday & binge watched the rest of “The Fosters” on Netflix & now we’re done.

Watched the Saskatchewan Roughrider game on TV against Winnipeg 31-0 for the wrong team.  That’s 2 games in a row that the Riders have failed to score a touchdown with the offence on the field.  Bad time of the season to get into that habit with the playoffs around the corner!

After supper we tackled season 2 of “Atypical” on Netflix.   We binge watched 5 of 10 half hour episodes.

Of course today is us getting ready for the week, groceries, laundry, etc.  I’ve made my juice, boiled eggs & Kim is out to get some groceries at the moment.

THE CARS

More music my parents turned me onto.  All I have is a greatest hits compilation that I bought years ago on CD.  All I know about them is that the lead singer is married to a supermodel, whose name escapes me at the moment. The Cars used synthesizers for good, not evil like “Rush” did in the 1970s.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Terrifier” the album “Weapons of Thrash Destruction”

I tallied up my exercise totals so far for this year & here it is; 4800 crunches, 5470 leg lifts, 7230 pushups, 2145 tricep pushups, 1860 back flexes, & 2390 squats.  Still a bit disappointing to me.

Kim & I went to a boxing event/fundraiser at “The Conexus Arts Center”.  The local “Lonsdale Boxing Club” where Kim used to go, with other boxers from Saskatchewan against an Irish boxing club.

I can’t watch boxing on TV but live I find it very entertaining!  I don’t know that much thought went into this though?  “Let’s invite an Irish boxing club & their fans here on March 16th, fill the Irish fans with alcohol as they get primed for St. Patrick’s Day.”  Hahahahaha!

At least we weren’t paying for the banter or music.  “Regina’s Rock Station 104.9 The Wolf” hosted the show, & now I know why I stopped listening to that radio station oh so long ago!  Michael Ball aka Ballsy from the morning show was the M.C.  Most rock fans say “Less talk, more rock”, not for me Friday evening.  “Less talk, less generic rock, more box!”  Way too much filler, not enough killer!  At first I thought Kim took me to a Nickelback show?  Pyro, lights, & Nickelback booming over the P.A. system.  I started to think “What did I do that made her mad at me?”  Nothing, 2 Nickelback songs followed by some of my preferred music.  Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, & Big Sugar.  Fun night though.  I quite enjoy live boxing.  11 fights, 3 rounds of 1-2 minutes in length in total.

Sorry if you like Nickelback, I don’t hate them, I choose not to listen to them.  If you’re a fan, that’s great that you’ve found a modern rock band that you enjoy.

Saturday/St. Patrick’s day we stayed in & watched a couple of movies.  “I, Tonya” & “Justice League”.  We rented “I, Tonya” which was really good but I don’t need to see it again.  We bought “Justice League” on Tuesday, it was AWESOME!  Everyone says it’s so bad, I absolutely disagree!  I must be off my rocker, because I really enjoyed “Batman vs. Superman”, “Suicide Squad”, & “Justice League”!  “Wonder Woman” was just OK for me.  My only issue with “Wonder Woman” was that it was a period piece.  From what I know Wonder Woman did not intervene in any war?  But what do I know.  All of these other movies are works of science fiction, check your brain at the door, enjoy your popcorn, & be entertained for a few hours.  I don’t know what everybody’s looking for in a comic book/action movie, because I thought “Justice League” was among the best comic book movies made!  Superman’s moustache was un-noticeable to me.

Today, we went for brunch with my brother & hopefully future sister-in-law.  No pressure bro!  Now it’s time to hard boil some eggs, cook some fish, do some more laundry, watch a spring training game, etc. & get ready for the week ahead.

BIG WRECK

I was finally 19, legal bar age, & was able to see this band that an older co-worker was raving about.  WOW, he was right!  This band was AMAZING!  The original 4 members dropped out of “The Berkley School of Music” to create Big Wreck.  1 Canadian & 3 Americans.  Ian Thornley, the vocalist by vote of the band, was the only Canadian in the group, yet they toured Canada 3 or 4 times a year.  I always went, I couldn’t get enough of them.  If they were in Regina, I was there!  They released their 2nd album in 2001 & broke up in 2002.  2002 was the last time I saw them.  However I saw them a minimum of 10 times during those 4 years.  They disbanded & Ian Thornley started a new band called “Thornley” for me they were OK.  They released 2 albums in 10 years.  I read many newspaper articles that Ian Thornley was interviewed for & stated his unhappiness while doing “Thornley”.  2012 Big Wreck reassembled with a different line up.  3 guitarists, bass player, & a drummer.  Only Ian Thornley & guitarist Brian Johnson were in the original line up.  Not that it matters but Brian Johnson was now the only American in the group.  The 3rd guitarist left since he wanted to spend more time with his family.  Since 2012, Big Wreck has released 3 full length studio albums & a live EP with a cover of “The Cars” “Good Times Roll”.  Here come the Big Wreck songs & the last 2 are from the 2 “Thornley” albums………………….

Here’s one song from each “Thornley” album.  He makes it very clear that this was a band, not a solo project.

This is well done but don’t mess with classics, like an Elton John song.

I fell asleep to “Stone Temple Pilots” the album “Stone Temple Pilots (2018)”, followed by “Myles Kennedy” his solo album “Year of the Tiger”

Friday is release day, so I get my albums at midnight eastern time, one bonus to daylight savings time!

I exercised to “Pink” the album “Beautiful Trauma”

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exercise weekly total; 1000 pushups, 700 leg lifts, 500 crunches, 300 tricep pushups, 300 squats, 200 back flexes.

I don’t think of myself as disabled.  Waking up in the middle of the night to pee has become a normal thing since I drink so much water every day. I wake up, I immediately get moving, I get in my wheelchair, roll to our en suite bathroom, get out of my wheelchair & sit down to pee.  No big deal.

I like to get up by 8:00 am at the latest & get my exercises done first thing in the morning.  For me I prefer quality over quantity.  Everything is pretty good for me right now.  I’ll be doing this total next week.  The week after, who knows?

Out of all of the exercises I do, back flexes & leg lifts are by far the most difficult.  Leg lift amount I don’t see moving anytime soon.  Things don’t increase to an astronomical amount ever.  If I think I should raise anything I usually add 5 to each set I do of that exercise.  If it’s still difficult, the number won’t move.  I can see both types of pushups going up slightly.  Hopefully the squats eventually also.

If I don’t do some type of exercise during a week day, it feels like a wasted day to me.  If I hit my goal for the total at the end of the week, I’m happy with that.  I know that eventually, I can do more!

I had 2 shares of the Wednesday post, HUGE difference!  Any help is greatly appreciated!  Spread the word please?

Yes, this is pre-written & now I have some stuff to do around the house.  I’ll be back but it might be a while?

RADIOHEAD

Radiohead made 1 OK album followed by 2 masterpiece albums, then noise from then on beginning with the album “Kid A” & have since continued to make very bleak albums with 0 sense of a time signature or melody.  The singer (Thom Yorke) has a fantastic voice but prefers to warble into the microphone now.  Each album is pretty much a guitar player strumming one string & playing with his effect pedals.  During the first 3 albums, they were on my bucket list to see live, but not anymore.  Foo Fighters were on tour with Radiohead & got to watch Radiohead create their masterpiece “OK Computer” the album Rolling Stone Magazine claimed to be the best album ever recorded.  It’s a great album, but that seems like an overstatement to me?  I’ve heard that Radiohead were never fans of their song “Creep”, the distorted guitar that comes in just before the chorus was the guitar player striking his guitar in rage, not sure if that’s true though?  Anyways here are 2 songs from the first 3 albums & one from a future album…………………….

Myself & my friend continued to load up my “Radiohead” CD collection, why I don’t know?

I haven’t watched the “Justice League” yet, I got it on blu-ray to watch it this weekend.  What I find odd is that this ruined the movie for them?  I guess people just really enjoy complaining.

Spring training for baseball is drawing to a close.  Regular season games start Thursday, March 29.  What would really impress me is if the Toronto Blue Jays could move Troy Tulowitzki & his remaining $60,000,000 contract ($20,000,000 a year)!!!  He’s great defensively but his offense is nowhere close to what it used to be.  There seems to be a back load of AAA players ready to take over his spot (short stop).  They’re cheaper, younger, good infielders, faster, & they can hit.  Tulowitzki won’t even play until the end of April.  Big contracts are hard to move, I get that.  What might be more realistic is give him $30,000,000 – $35,000,000 next year, buy out his contract & cut him loose.  He hasn’t touched a baseball field in a game since May or June of last year.  So the Jays are paying him $20,000,000 to be a “cheerleader”?

St. Patty’s day tomorrow.  Get your dark Guiness beer or other beer to colour green & say “Thank you” to the Irish!

The more you share this, the more readers I get.  No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.  I can’t tell who’s reading this but thank you!
