I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “Wasting Light”

I exercised to Kim watching TV.

This is late.  I just didn’t want to get out of bed.  I woke up shortly after 8:00 am & finally got my butt moving at 10:00 am had a quick bite to eat & then exercised.  I thought things would get easier as I did them more?  I sweated profusely today though, doing the same exercises as yesterday.

I’m pretty sure these will be posted later on in the morning since I’ve added more exercises.

I’m not the hero or victim in this cancer nonsense.  My family, Kim’s family, & our friends are the heroes.  I would never be able to get this far on my own.  If Kim wasn’t working, we’d really be hooped.  She works, I exercise.  There’s no income for exercising as much as possible.  Our immediate families are very important to both of us.  James, Sherry, Mitch, Rachel, & my parents are all in Regina.  If we need help of any kind that they can help with, none of them think twice about helping us out.  Our friends in Regina are the same.  If we need help, they’re ready & on call.  No offense to anyone, Mitch & Kim are my phone a friend peeps.

When I was acting like a complete idiot, Mitch put me in my place.  Kim wasn’t very happy at that time either.  I didn’t see it because I wasn’t thinking about anyone else or how my behavior was affecting others.

If things had turned out differently & I had died, many other people would have died on the inside.  I didn’t die though & thank goodness I didn’t!  Not everyone gets a second chance at life other than cats that get 9 lives.  No I’m trying to steer the boat, with many others, in the right direction.  I’m sure we’ll run into some nasty waves along the way but with help awaiting the call, we’ll be OK.

Kim has this entire week off.  We watched 2 more movies on Monday.  Spider – Man Homecoming & Thor: The Dark World.  I really didn’t like the first Thor movie but this second one was REALLY good.  I saw Spider – Man Homecoming in the theater & I knew it was a movie I’d watch again.  Right now I’m holding out to see Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi & we may go this weekend to Pitch Perfect 3?

I’m sure A Perfect Circle will be released this year.  It could be a long wait before we hear a new Tool album.  I’ll believe it when I have it.  Danny Carey said in 2016 that there would be a new Tool album in 2017.  Their last release was in 2006 titled “10,000 Days”.  If that’s when the release is we have roughly 16.397 years to wait, if I did the math properly?  A Perfect Circle has 2 singles out already, still no release date though.

U2 – Songs of Experience.

I was a HUGE U2 fan in High School.  I have 11 albums on CD right from the 1st album 1980’s “Boy” to 2005’s “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb”.  After that album I just assumed they had retired, until “Songs of Innocence” appeared in my iTunes.  That album was light years away from what I would consider a U2 album.  I got into them on “The Joshua Tree” released in 1987.  I (my mom) didn’t purchase it for me until 1989 or 1990(?) when I was with her at Costco & saw it there.  My mother isn’t a U2 fan, but she bought that CD for me.  I played that CD over & over & over etc. in my bedroom on my boom box at a LOUD volume.  I think my mother deeply regretted that Costco purchase.

After that album I casually bought the previous albums & kept a steady pace with future U2 releases.

The new album “Songs of Experience” I seem to enjoy it more with each listen.  I find it to be a good mix of old & new U2.  Here’s someone else’ take on it. I would never suggest a U2 album to anyone that has never been a fan of them.  If you’ve enjoyed previous albums, DEFINITELY check this album out!  Thanks to Jonny Amore & Timothy Wong for drawing my attention to this album!

We had 4 Christmas’ this year.  First up was Christmas with Kim’s family.  Opened gifts here on Christmas Eve, then spent the 25th at Sherry & James’ place.  Played games, had our Christmas meal & watched a movie.  Kim’s family went home on Boxing Day.

In the afternoon of Boxing Day, Corey, Jolene, & Hannah came over in the mid-afternoon to have our Christmas we have with them as we do normally.  No big meal though!  Thank goodness.

The only problem for me was trying to figure out how to get into Sherry & James’ house.  It’s a nice place but not wheelchair friendly.  I made it in without falling!  I don’t think I’ve ever fallen there.  James’ brother Jeffrey was with us for 1/2 Christmas Day, & here on Christmas Eve as well.  He’s a really nice guy to chat with.

On the 27th we had Christmas with my family.  We all did an escape room.  2 teams of 5 people.  My uncle, his girlfriend, & 2 cousins were with us for Christmas.  We had pizza for supper, then opened gifts, & finished the evening with a game of Pictionary & Mad Gab.

After we had just finished opening gifts, my parents got a call from a paramedic in Calgary.  My grandparents were in Airdrie for Christmas staying with my aunt, uncle & 2 cousins.  They had dropped my grandparents of at the airport to fly home.  They hadn’t boarded the plane & my grandmother had “a small heart attack” they said.

They think it was cardio myopathy.  I guess it really damaged her heart & her brain wasn’t working quite right.  Mom & Dad were on the phone a lot on Friday (29th) keeping other family members up to date.

On the 28th I did absolutely nothing, I was REALLY tired.  Kim went over to visit Jolene & Hannah.  Their dog Dug needed to have a play date with Brewster.  Kim thought Corey was working, so I stayed home & watched “The X-Files” on Netflix.  I should have had a nap instead.  I was too young to watch this when it was on TV, but I can’t wait for the new season.

Friday the 29th was Christmas with my mother’s side of the family at my cousin’s house in Rouleau (pronounced Rolo).  Aunts, uncles, cousins & all of my cousin’s young kids.  More of a family get together.  No gifts or anything just appetizers & a turkey dinner.  Unfortunately Mitch & Dad were both ill & stayed home.

It’s REALLY cold out today, December 30, 2017, we’re not leaving the house today however, I’m wearing my usual attire of shorts & a T-Shirt though.  I even asked Kim for some of the comforter in the middle of the night.  That’s very rare.  Make a note on your calendar!

Cold day, a good day to hunker down & watch movies with Kimmy.  She found a “Rocky” marathon.  She loves those movies.  Yes, we own them all, from the first “Rocky” all the way to “#Creed”.

I don’t like to speak about my Christmas gifts.  It’s very embarrassing to me.  I’m grateful for them, but also embarrassed by the amount of stuff I receive.  I prefer & enjoy giving gifts.  That’s one of the reason I don’t talk about what I’ve received.  Please don’t ask?

Well, it’s New Year’s Eve December 31, 2017 means I’m 9 years cancer free.  I’m still in a wheelchair, iPatch over my left eye, & still on 5 medications.  All of that being said, I’m fine.

We spent New Year’s with Corey, Jolene, Hannah, Gosha, Twyla, & Elouise (spelling may be off here).  Yes we were home & in bed before midnight.

Kim has the entire week off, but I’ll start my workouts on Tuesday.   I’m going to change it up a bit throughout the year so it doesn’t become the same daily routine.  You’ll still get a weekly total though!

Just spoke with my mother, mom & dad may be heading to the Alberta boarder to pick up my grandparents this weekend (6th & 7th).  Just the other day grandma thought the year was 1532, she was in a mall, & had been there for 2.5 years.  Sounds like she is doing better now.  When the paramedic called on the 27th we were all shocked that they said Jean Fraser was in the back of the ambulance?  Grandpa is the one with a bad heart.  I guess I’m lucky to still have two grandparents alive at my age.  I also got to know 3 of my great grandmothers.

Another tune from “A Perfect Circle”

If I knew in 2017 what I know now, Pink, U2, The Devin Townsend Project, & Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds would have appeared on my top albums of the year.

Pink – Beautiful Trauma

U2 – Songs of Experience

No, I didn’t care for their free album either, “Songs of Innocence”

The Devin Townsend Project – Transcendence

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Who Built the Moon?

I’ll do a review of these albums over the next 4 posts.  If you’ve never enjoyed U2, you probably won’t like their new album.  As a U2 fan, I REALLY like it.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders were playing in Hamilton against the Tiger-Cats Friday evening.  Mitch & Rachel came over to watch the game & have supper as well.  No touchdown shooters here, but possibly at my parents place?  They had some friends over to watch the football game too.  Ugly win, Riders tried to lose the game but ran out of time.  A win is still a win so at least the Riders had that going for them.

The Toronto Blue Jays won too.  A win doesn’t really matter for them at this point.  They’re pretty much auditioning younger players for next year, & they’re playing to stir the pot & affect the playoff teams that aren’t guaranteed a spot yet.

I’m anxious for next season of Blue Jay baseball!  These younger players look good, most of them.  The Blue Jays are actually winning games, not at a high rate, but it seems like they’re winning more often.  It’s at least entertaining to watch a game & know they have a chance of coming out with a win.

Say goodbye to José Bautista.  He’s no longer José Bautista who will hit 40+ home runs.  Last year he was injured & hit 20+ home runs.  This year he hasn’t been injured but his offensive numbers are very much the same if not less.  He has an option on his contract for $18,000,000 next year that both he & the Blue Jays have to agree on.  I don’t think anyone will pay him that much.  He’s about my age aka he is not far from retirement in the MLB.

Saturday, we sat around the house just feeling lazy.  Kim did some laundry & our friends from out of town popped by with coffee & cookies from Tim Horton’s.  Very lazy day for us.

Sunday’s are always get ready for the week, make a pitcher of juice, hard boil eggs, finish up the laundry, grocery shopping & this week get refills on the 5 medications I take, all of them at night & 3 or 4 of them first thing in the morning.

I need to listen to the “Divide” album by Ed Sheeran more.  It kinda “Fell Through the Cracks”

And there’s a song to break your nose to.  When you’re 19, in a mosh pit, & instantly covered in blood.  Lie to the First Aid guy so you can hear the end of the song & stay out of a mosh pit for the rest of your life!

I guess there’s a new Fall Out Boy album up for preorder at the moment with 3 songs on for preorder.  Full release January 19, 2018.  I’ll check it out on the release day.

Ozzy, you’re getting old.  Everybody has to retire at some point.

I’ve listened to it more & each time I listen to it, it seems to sound WAY better than the last time!  It’s good enough for me to throw it into my regular rotation.  I’m a HUGE Foo Fighters fan though, this could be a biased opinion though.  My initial reaction, terrible album.  Now it’s not too shabby, they have made a few better albums though.

http://loudwire.com/foo-fighters-concrete-and-gold-album-review/

This album seems to get better to me with each listen.  Don’t buy the hype by Dave Grohl in this “making off” clip.  This album does not sound huge to me.  I still blame the producer for the poor reaction to this album.  No it’s not like Metallica’s “St. Anger”.

What I listen to depends on my mood for the most part.  Metal music tends to calm me.  Hard rock makes me quite energetic.  If I want to relax Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, or Simon & Garfunkel it is!

Jack Johnson recently released an album, great album to listen to for chilling out!

Nothing but Thieves aren’t for everybody but both of their albums are REALLY good!  My favourite album of the year is a tight race between ‘Paramore’s’ “After Laughter” & ‘Nothing but Thieves’ “Broken Machine”

WEEKEND UPDATE

This is me during my day, followed by music info because I want the music info as well.  If you don’t want to read it, don’t feel as though you have to, it won’t hurt my feelings.  You can read the cancer stuff, the pop culture stuff or not read it at all, it’s totally your choice & whatever you choose is just fine by me.  So don’t feel pressured to read this.

What did we do this weekend?  NOTHING AT ALL!  I don’t like sitting at home on a Friday or Saturday night but nobody we talked to wanted to play.  My mind says I’m 25 my body is more realistic at 36!  I did go to the Saskatchewan Roughrider game with my dad on Sunday.  I don’t have a handicap seat.  My father pushes my chair up 2 ramps, I go up 10 or 12 steps & our seats are right in front of us, seats 1 & 2.  Next year, in the new stadium should be even better.  About 2 steps from the main level.  The first level is built into the ground, & we’re in the top row seats 1, 2, & 3.  My mother can’t get to where our seats are at the moment so she has sold her ticket to the people beside us but has kept it in her name.  They’ve chosen to sit closer to field level in the new stadium.  Our seats should be easier for my mother to get to, so she’ll be with us!

I’m not a huge fan of them.  I own 4 CDs “Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic” which I never listen to, “By The Way”, “Californication”, those 2 I listen to occasionally, & the double album “Stadium Arcadium”  I listened to it once or twice & it’s been in hiding ever since I bought it.

LANGUAGE!!!!   Yes, I’ve sang this.  Not my style at all!  I prefer listening to this!

I’ll take “The Pretty Reckless” just for the song.  Full album out on October 21st.  The song by “Kaleo” is pretty good, I’ve just never heard of them before, sounds really good though.

Kaleo has 4 or 5 albums, EPs, & singles available.  Similar to Jack Johnson, just slightly heavier?  Gritty?  Nowhere near hard rock or metal.

This is for anyone & everyone who might find this interesting! Please help me out if you don’t mind? I’ve been sharing this publically on my page, I don’t think it’s helping? Please do what you can to spread the word?

NO, I DO NOT FOLLOW CANADIAN POLITICS AT ALL! As a person with a physical disability, what the Republican Presidential nominee did by mocking people with disabilities does not anger me or the fact that I am physically disabled. I don’t really think of myself as disabled & I’m sure that many others who are mentally or physically disabled don’t think of it either. What that disrespectful mocking did was exactly what this election is about. He separated people more instead of bringing people together. He made it clear, there’s him, 400 feet of crap, upper class, middle class, lower class, 400 feet of crap & everyone else. My legs work, just not for a long period of time. I’ll take a stand for those who can’t, literally & figuratively. It’s disrespectful & does not warrant any gain for ANYONE! I feel bad for Americans, in that some of them support Donald Trump. Remember, he mocked EVERYONE that has a disability! That includes any member of the military who has fought for the country & that anyone can vote in an election.

A broken bone or whatever will heal. A vote for Hillary will never be taken away! I may be Canadian but #ImWithHer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could easily get mad & go on a long rant about him, call him names & such, but that wont help ANYTHING!

My back is still wonky I tried doing 20 push ups on Monday & my back yelled at me to stop! Sitting around watching movies, TV, & Netflix or reading gets really boring for me………………….fast! Stupid back! I want to do something! This is nonsense, I’m bored!!!! I tried some frozen corn on my back but it didn’t work & we don’t have frozen peas? Do peas work better?

This is great! I have another solution for this problem. If you’re a civilian & not hunting, why do you need a gun? If you pull a gun out while the police are present, what do you think they’ll do? If you don’t carry a gun, the police have no reason to protect themselves with a gun? Imagine how simple that would be?

What a way to start a blog? The legendary artist Prince has passed at the age of 57. Yes, I’m a fan of his!

This week is backwards for me than normal weeks. I still get up early, but I don’t do my exercises? It still feels wrong to me. I get up & have my fruit & vegetable juice, a coffee, & fill my water bottle. Then I sit on the couch & watch what’s left of the previous nights baseball game. Blue Jays in :30 does nothing for me. I much prefer to watch the entire game.

I still have the TV show ‘Criminal Minds:Beyond Borders’ left to watch from last night, I’m not sure if I want to watch that show? We had 3 or 4 different Law & Order shows, 3 CSI shows, a failed Criminal Minds spinoff & now they’re trying another one. I’ve been a fan of the original Criminal Minds since the first episode. I don’t think I need to watch a spinoff?

Did everyone hear the big news in Saskatchewan today? Garth Brooks is coming to Saskatoon! I’ve seen an advertisement on Facebook at least 5 times today.

“Here we go you guys! You’ve heard the rumours for years, you’ve waited for DECADES and now… GARTH BROOKS IS COMING BACK TO SASKATOON!

Trisha Yearwood will be performing as well! Saturday, June 11th at Sasktel Centre! Tickets on sale Friday, April 29th at 10:00am. Also, we’ve got a TON of tickets to give away. So keep it locked on The Bull for your chance to win.

Actually… now that we think about it. Want our FIRST PAIR OF TICKETS? Like and Share this photo! We’ll pick a winner Friday morning!”

Not my thing at all, but I hear he puts on a very good show!

Guitar lesson from Megadeth?

The super group, Gone is Gone, made from members of Mastodon, Queens of the Stone Age, & At the Drive In. Have released a new song. I’m still not sure if I’m sold on them? Mastodon & I don’t mix very well & I’ve never heard of ‘At The Drive In’. Oddly enough the metal fans I talk to adore Mastodon?? I must be missing something?

Update from Alter Bridge in the studio

“Alter Bridge update – All 14 songs are done with main guitar. Now comes acoustic guitar and solos. Mark has 11 solos to track.”

Alter Bridge want to release this 5th studio album in June before they begin their tour in early July! Now that’s ambitious! They’re hosting a listening party for fans in the Orlando, Florida area on June 6th I think they said! That’s really fast, promising all of these dates before the album is even finished? WOW!

Tool is sharing a few songs at the moment….

This has become a very ugly world we live in!! If you’re anywhere near Saskatoon please help find these kids!

This is as much as I know about Kesha. I hope this guy gets what’s coming to him? I don’t think she’d fabricate a story to take it this far? The song is just a reference point, I really know nothing about her.

TRIVIUM/WEEKEND UPDATE

I’m taking Monday off from the computer all together. Sorry, tomorrow you’re on your own

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!!!!! Probably

Yes, I went to Saskatoon on Friday to see “Trivium” on tour for the latest release “Silence in the Snow”

Lead singer & rhythm guitarist, Matt Heafy, seemed to be a much more confident frontman & knew how to work the crowd. It was pretty cool to hear the audience sing along with this song over the PA before “Trivium” came out!!!

Great show! Thanks to Mitch & Rachel for letting me tag along! We heard 1-3 songs from all 7 albums but the first album. Show was in Saskatoon at the O’Brian’s Event Center” a security worker saw me in a wheelchair as Mitch was pushing me up the ramp & cleared a spot for me at the counter they have cleared out for me the last 2 times I’ve been there! Trivium did a one song encore of this song.

Great show & it was done by 11:15 pm or so. We were back in Regina by 2:00 am.

We stopped for supper at a pub a few buildings down the street that opened in 2013, ended up missing most of the first of 2 opening bands. AWESOME service there too. Our waitress sat down with us, asked us where we were from, if we had been at the restaurant before, said she’d help us with the extensive drink menu as well as the dinner menu.
