Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “The Beatles” the album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” followed by “Metallica” the album “Hardwired………..to Self-Destruct”

Friday ended with me drinking alone & watching the Toronto Blue Jays vs. the Cleveland Indians.  Both had the same win-loss record starting the game which the Blue Jays won 8-4.  The Jays are now 9W-5L.

Saturday we woke up before 8:00 am.  I rolled over & asked Kim what time it was, too early.  Grabbed my iPod Classic, which I’ve almost decided will not be replaced when it dies, then we went back to sleep & I put my iPod back on.  Saturday evening was my dad & brother’s birthday supper at my parent’s place.  Supper, brownies for Mitch, & a Chocolate Extreme Blizzard cake from Dairy Queen for dad.  Good times that went a bit longer than expected.  By 10:00 pm we were all a bit tired & cleared out fast.

The Blue Jay game Saturday in Cleveland was rained out.  Today’s is supposed to be rained out as well.  3 players are currently injured so collectively that’s $54,000,000 worth of players sitting on the bench & the short stop might have a career ending injury.  His contract runs out at the end of the 2020 season.  Teams have insurance incase this type of thing happens.

Typical Sunday for us, getting ready for the week ahead, laundry, groceries, make a vegetable juice, bake some fish, hard boil some eggs, etc.  I’ve got the “American Country Music Awards” recording for Kim.  How on earth did I get stuck with a country music fan?  Country & music don’t even belong in the same sentence most of the time.  Oh wait she HAWT, smart, funny, she loves me, etc.  I do like the Dixie Chicks though.

I don’t play my music when she’s home & she usually does the same.  I find it funny that country “music” has to have it’s own award show, because it doesn’t fit in with the cool kids.  Hahahahahaha!

Before I get into this I should say that “Live’s” albums “Throwing Copper” & “The Distance to Here” are legendary albums for me.

The first band I was in while in University played most of “Lightning Crashes” once in rehearsal, but none of us knew the bridge of the song.  We stopped at the bridge & just never bothered to learn it or play it again, we should have.

2002

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE & FOO FIGHTERS

I got into “Queens of the Stone Age” when they released their 3rd album “Songs for the Deaf” in 2002 with Dave Grohl on drums for all of the songs & a short tour afterwards.  I was already into Foo Fighters, so to see Dave on drums in a “Queens” video was big for me.  I bought the album ASAP.  I listened to it a LOT & soon bought the previous 2 albums, I was hooked.  I was in SIAST but the “Queens” stuff was in a low tuning.  I learned some of it, but it was just a hassle to switch tunings on my guitar for “Queens” stuff & regular tuning for rehearsal.  Foo Fighters released their 4th album on Kim’s birthday that year in October.  Not their best album but also not their worst, but I’m biased when it comes to Foo Fighters……….

Dave Grohl played drums on this album & Elton John played piano on at least a few songs!

Godsmack is still around?  I didn’t even know?  I was never a fan though anyways.

http://loudwire.com/godsmack-when-legends-rise-title-track/

Top 10 Tool songs according to Watchmojo.com.  I wouldn’t put them in any category, especially metal.

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!         Any Tool fan that enjoys marijuana, doesn’t need to bring any to a Tool show, the rest of the audience will get you high on second hand smoke & the crowd also doubles as a fog machine for the band.

I think this guy is over a decade younger than me.  Although he says this ranking of “Muse” albums are just his opinion.

For me it would be “Showbiz”, “The Resistance”, “Drones”, “The 2nd Law”, “Origin of Symmetry”, “Absolution”, & finally “Black Holes & Revelations”.  I guess our opinions aren’t that far off after all.

The more you share this, the more readers I get.  No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.

I fell asleep to “Metallica” the album “Kill ‘em All”

I exercised to “Stone Temple Pilots” the album “Stone Temple Pilots (2018)”

I had to clean up after Brewster, just missed his pad.  Washed my hands & had breakfast while listening to “Queens of the Stone Age” the album “Songs for the Deaf”

Exercise weekly total; 700 pushups, 490 leg lifts, 350 crunches, 210 tricep pushups, 210 squats, & 140 back flexes.  Odd week 1 day of no exercise & 1 day of half the amount of repetitions.

My father’s cousin died on Tuesday.  Kim & I would see him sleeping in his wheelchair when I was on the 2nd floor of the WRC.  He was born with Down syndrome.  Sad to see anybody die but his quality of life wasn’t that great.

We met a guy named Nick while I was in the Wascana Rehabilitation Center, super nice guy.  I’m pretty sure he wasn’t mentally handicapped but he was born physically handicapped.  He was in music therapy as well.  He recorded an album with help from the same music therapist I saw for a bit.  He played the drums on his album they made, she sang on it.  As far as the bass & guitar, I assume it was the music therapist.  I was impressed he could play the drums!  My kick drum leg wasn’t all that strong, I could get it to the kick drum, I just couldn’t keep my foot down.  It would hit the drum twice & my left hand is all but useless.  He probably doesn’t get out of his wheelchair much since he is severely physically handicapped.

He would see Kim & I in the cafeteria for lunch & always come to chat with us.  If he & I were having a conversation, Kim was our interpreter I was/am hard to understand & so was he.

He’s a really joyful guy to be around.  The rest of the people I saw & heard were very bitter about being there or whatever it was that put them there.  I was more on the bitter side of things.  I tried to keep it in.  I really leaned on Kim.

When I do my exercise “every morning”, lately, at least this year, I think to myself “Hurry up, do more, this is affecting a PILE of other people, not just Kim & I!  Hurry up & get better!”  That’s just the pressure I put on myself.  Nobody has ever said to me that I’m not trying hard enough, just me.

GRUNGE

I was born in 1980.  My parents weren’t into the GLAM metal scene going on in L.A.  It was basically a free pass, I got to choose what I wanted to hear.  Mom was into pop music & dad was into “Dire Straits”, “Jimmy Buffet” & whatever else popped up.  I do remember really liking “Fine Young Cannibals”.  I bought that CD just before I was diagnosed with brain cancer.  I was in high school when the entire “grunge” deal went down.  I was 8 or 9 years late to that party.  Now that’s my go to music.  I also played flute in the high school band & was recruited to join the choir, they needed more male voices for the 4 part harmonies.  When “grunge” was all the rage in the early 1990s, I couldn’t stand it.  I was really into Canadian bands who played the same type of music.  “I Mother Earth”, “The Inbreds”, “Our Lady Peace”, “Matthew Good Band”, “The Tea Party”, etc.  I ended up singing for what was basically a cover band.

I was at a bar with Chris Messer from the call center I worked at.  He was also a singer in a band.  He heard “Alice in Chains” playing over the P.A.  Yes, “Man in the Box” he turned to me & said “You guys should do this song.”  I replied “That vocal is very high.  I don’t know if I can hit those notes?”  After numerous rehearsals I did it!

Originally I was a 2nd bass singer, the really low notes in the 4 part harmonies in choir.  I think that song changed my vocal range.  After that song, my voice was going through a 2nd puberty.  I’d be speaking & my voice would crack.  Then I became a grunge fan.  Grunge & rock with some Metallica was what we played.

Our goal was to play “Beerfest” put on by the Engineering Society.  500 people, I found it nerve racking to play in front of that many people….for a bit.  Once we had played a few songs & we were in a groove all of the anxiety went away.  I was really into the Canadian response of grunge though at the time.  I had a lot of the grunge albums, didn’t listen to them much though, until needed.  Somehow I bought a metal, Into Eternity, album before I was into American grunge…..

We didn’t play all of the songs mentioned, that’s more of just what I was into at the time.  Our motto was “If somebody isn’t bleeding by the end of the night, we’re not trying hard enough”.  That was a weird way of gauging how the shows went.

Will Axl Rose continue with AC/DC?

Yes, I watched “Justice League” again this week over 2 days this week.  Critics hated it, SURPRISE!  That’s really just a fancy title for someone who gets paid to watch movies if you ask me.  I guess I would be a terrible movie critic, since I enjoy the DC movies.  Yes I like the Marvel movies too.

I’m all about “Laid to Rest” with “Lamb of God”

I fell asleep to “Smashing Pumpkins” the album “Siamese Dream” followed by “Soundgarden” the album “Superunknown”

I exercised to “Foo Fighters” the album “Wasting Light”

During breakfast I listened to “Headstones” the album “Teeth & Tissue”

Had my breakfast & immediately threw it up.  Still feeling fine.

On to empty the dishwasher to “Led Zeppelin” the album “Physical Graffiti”

All is fine, now I’ll hit the shower!

Yesterday was a wasted day, all of my bones & joints were really sore?  I was fine Monday.  Tuesday it was just unbearable though.  Today was better, but still a little tender.  I did half the amount of all of my exercises (just to be safe).  I don’t want to have too many days where I’m not doing something, just makes it more difficult to ramp it up again.

When I went to bed Saturday night for some reason my legs just had a terrible ache.  For a bit there I thought “How does a 38 year old have growing pains?”  I don’t know what it was but I felt fine when I woke up.  I guess it was a glimpse into the near future

I really don’t remember much/anything of 2008.  Apparently I was in a world of pain when I was awake for an hour every day.  My mother & Kim tell me it’s best that I don’t remember.  The little I do remember is that radiation & MRIs suck if you’re extremely claustrophobic like I am.  I can’t remember how long a session of radiation or the length of an MRI was but wow, so not for me.  At least I came out of it well!  Each time I went for an MRI they’d give me a bean bag to throw if something was wrong.  I must have been the worst person to have an MRI done.  Each time I would throw the bean bag because I was terrified, so the bean bag, idea worked once then they must have thought I was the boy that called wolf?  It came to a point that I asked one of my nurses if she could just knock me out before I went into the MRI.  The Benadryl didn’t work the last few times though.  Heights & small spaces are 2 of my big phobias.

Ellen Degeneres is coming to Calgary for a Q & A.  Kim & I would love to go, but somebody, me, is going to far too many concerts this year & we are attending a wedding in Manitoba.  Also, if Kim’s not at work, she doesn’t get paid.  She’s working under contract, no benefits, vacation pay, or sick leave.  I was considering selling my tickets to one of them, but I don’t know if upgrading two tickets in the wheelchair section is possible?  I also bought those tickets for the reason that I WANT to go to the concerts.  I pulled all of the leaves off of our money tree with large portions of the branches too.  I’m terrible with money, but I’m Scottish I should be cheap?  Not with music though.

PEARL JAM

Summer of 1998 I became a fan of Pearl Jam.  I bought the album “Yield” that was released in February of 1998.  I had a summer job, installing air conditioning in a senior’s home with a Tinsmith & his son who was also going into engineering in September at the U of R.  We’d start early at 5 am because the attic would get incredibly hot in the afternoon.  Every morning & afternoon while driving to & from work I was listening to that Pearl Jam album, then I’d play it at home as I fell asleep for a nap.  I went to a music store & bought the previous albums by Pearl Jam.  I couldn’t get enough of them.  “Yield” is one of my top 4 Pearl Jam albums, one of my go to Pearl Jam albums.  I wouldn’t say that I’m a hardcore fan of PJ, but I do like Pearl Jam.  I’ve seen them twice in Saskatoon in 2005 & 2011 while going through my rehab, even saw my physiotherapist at the 2011 show.  The albums “Ten”, “VS”, “Vitalogy”, & “Yield” are my favourites of their HUGE catalogue………..

While we’re talking about Dave Grohl, let’s listen to this guy explaining how “Everlong” was written & recorded.

This makes it sound far more difficult than needed or how you can cut out a PILE of stuff & play it’s bare bones live, still works!

New “Queens of the Stone Age” video

I hope “Lamb of God” never let “Burn the Priest” see the light of day.  That album is terrible.  I had it, listened to it once & haven’t heard it since.  They used to be called “Burn the Priest” & released one album under that name.  You know it’s a bad “Lamb of God” album if I can’t tolerate it.

I fell asleep to “Queens of the Stone Age” their 2002 release “Songs for the Deaf” followed by “Trivium” the album “The Sin & the Sentence”

I exercised to “Bush” the album “Sixteen Stone” way back when they had to call themselves “Bush X” in Canada.  There was a Canadian called Bush, never heard them, my CD says “Bush X” released in 1994

500 crunches, 590 leg lifts, 700 pushups, 245 tricep pushups, 200 back flexes, & 240 squats.  That’s my week of exercising.

I figured out today how to do my exercises & not be completely exhausted after.  50 squats, 50 tricep pushups, 40 back flexes, 100 pushups, 100 crunches, 50 more pushups, & 130 leg lifts.

Thursday I was lacking energy & knew I wouldn’t make my totals after doing my squats.  I did everything just dialed the numbers back a bit.

In reference to Brewster’s teeth, he’ll be fine & it won’t cost nearly as much as I had anticipated.  That’s our kid, our little boy.  Might not make sense to some of you but you’d do the same for your human child I assume.  If there is something Kim or Brewster needs, consider it done, especially after what they’ve done for me!  When Kim looked at his teeth, I didn’t think twice “How soon can it happen?” Was the first thing I said & “What’s it going to cost?”

All of this exercising is almost too much for me.  I’m not stopping though.  The sets/numbers have gone up, which has made it more difficult.  I can do all of them, by the end I’m tired & seriously out of breath.  I roll over on my side or have some water as I try to catch my breath for a few minutes.  After that I roll up my exercise mat & carry on with whatever I can do around the house.  My exercise time is a minimum of 2 hours.  In the evenings, 3 days a week, I do some cardio.  Walking with my walker or riding a recumbent exercise bike.

The cardio I’ll tally it up at the end of the year or possibly in June & then the end of the year.

This looks like the year for Marvel to rake in a few billion dollars!

When you see me mention Deadpool, just always assume there will be language involved.

Deadpool 2 is locked & loaded for release on May 18th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Black Panther is set for release on February 16th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Avengers: Infinity War also hits theaters this summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Venom hits theaters in October.

Ant man & The Wasp will be in theaters in July

Aquaman comes to theaters December 21st!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Han Solo comes to theaters this summer.

Other than “Aquaman” & “Han Solo” looks like Marvel wants to get crazy rich this year.  I still have yet to see “Thor Ragnarok” & “The Justice League”.  Looks like I’ll be busy this year, baseball starting shortly, the CFL, these movies, working out, & some TV thrown into the mix.

Paramore, Nothing but Thieves, Fall Out Boy, Pink, & Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds all seem to be getting a LOT of air time from me.

I’m sorry, I can’t stop laughing at this.

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was/is absolutely ridiculous/stupid

This is cute & funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After this, I’ll catch you January 1st, with a holiday update.

I fell asleep to “Rush” the album “Counterparts”

I exercised to “Stone Temple Pilots” the album “Core”

I ended up spending most of Sunday on the computer again.  If there are any double files, I give up.

I miss my hobbies.  I loved playing & singing in a rock band, something I always wanted to do after I graduated high school.  I was always a singer by default, since I could carry a tune & I didn’t own a guitar until I was 21.  Practicing my guitar now is not fun for me.  My brain knows what to do, but my left (fret board hand) refuses to listen to me.  So after maybe 10 minutes, I get more than frustrated.  Since there’s no baseball on at the moment, I should really hunker down & get 1 of my guitars & really work on it.

As with most things, I never really practiced guitar or singing.  In my head I’d say “Ah, good enough”.  I did get a bit better with each rehearsal or show.  I never really sat down & focused on singing or playing.  I guess there were a couple times I’d check out a song I liked, learn the meat & potatoes of it in 30 minutes & leave it at that.  I learned these songs pretty well though….

The guitar part sounds much more difficult than it sounds.

This along with the entire 2nd album by Foo Fighters & some of their 1st, 3rd, & 4th album.  I guess their 5th album too.  Then they were far too difficult to play & sing at the same time.  I also learned a few other songs on my own…….

I was good enough to fill in for Chris Messer’s band “Left Foot Louie” who played polkas, country, & rock as the older crowd were calling it a night.  When Chis asked me to fill in for Tyler, I had one issue.  “OK but, you have to do the leads & difficult stuff.  I can’t do that stuff.”

I practiced once with Tyler Wanner, Corey McDonald & David Kliman.  I was impressed that Tyler was impressed that I could play “Slither” by Velvet Revolver & sing it also.  How could I not be impressed?  He listened to the solo twice & knew it!  BLEW MY MIND!

Check out this documentary about hired musicians who play whatever is needed on an album or tour with big name musicians like Billy Joel, Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, etc.  It’s called “Hired Guns” on Netflix.

I am a U2 fan.  I’m still deliberating if I should purchase their new album?  However I’m leaning further to saying yes to the dress/album.  Oh, how Kim loves her TLC.  Yet, I’ve learned nothing.

I never really anticipated a new “System of a Down” album

Lead singer, Josh Homme, of Queens of the Stone Age, kicked & injured a photographer during a recent show.

Will this have any effect on my issue with iTunes at the moment?

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/apple-acquires-music-recognition-app-shazam-w513797

Why do the Toronto Blue Jays have to wait for somebody else to make the first move?  The home run leader from last year just got traded to the N.Y. Yankees, & they’re in the same division.  The Yankees just added a 59 home run hitter to their lineup, move!  If nothing happens, say “Goodbye” to most of your ticket buyers, then sell the team that nobody will want.  They have needs not wants.

http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-dont-feel-pressured-rush-deal-weak-starting-market/

If the Blue Jays can dump Troy Tulowitzki at short stop & get Machado to join the team at short stop, I’m all in.  I wouldn’t let Josh Donaldson go if possible, he’s a late bloomer, & a good one!

WHY?

The www.youtube.com links are there for a point of reference if you don’t know what I’m talking about.  Read this for what YOU want to know, you don’t need to read the entire thing.

Don’t feel as though you have to open every link.

I fell asleep to “Royal Blood” the album “How Did We Get So Dark?”

Followed by “Nothing but Thieves” their debut self-titled album

Why is this world so full of hatred?  Does anybody see religion against religion, colour against colour, gender against gender, or sexuality against sexuality?  Somebody PLEASE show me where that is written & who wrote or said it?  If any of this is true, why aren’t all Muslims terrorist?  Or all white people a part of the KKK?

It’s not Religion or else I’d be in a holy war against all non-Christian Religions.  I don’t care about someone else’ sexuality, race, or anyone’s difference in lifestyle!  If you’re a good person, let’s hang out!  If you’re not a good person, GO AWAY!  If only it was that easy!

I don’t understand the Q in #LGBTQ.  I don’t have to understand it, I have to acknowledge it, and I do.  I know it stands for ‘queer’ but none of those initials should not define you as a good or bad person.

My other question is the song “Imagine” by John Lennon appropriate at Christmas time?

Great song about peace!!!!!  If there’s “…no religion….” There’s no Christmas!  Kim & I were watching “A Pentatonix Christmas” & that was the final song.  Great song, but I don’t understand why it’s in a Christmas special?

I think everyone has both a good & bad personality.  I also think we can all do a little better & focus more on the good in us.  Not just at the holiday season, but every day!  We can all do better every day!

You know it will be entertaining.  You know………………..because he’s crazy.

Rolling Stone’s top 50 albums of the year.  Wow, my list will be 10, I couldn’t afford 50!  I may have bought 15 or 20 & some of them were just OK.  2 of these 50 albums I bought & will make my list.  Most of the others I’ve either never heard of or are just not for me.

We can’t afford the gas to see Queens of the Stone Age in Calgary, Edmonton, or Winnipeg.  I would REALLY like to see them in Calgary on Thursday, May 17th.  Forget about tickets, which regular seating or general admission is at most $70 plus fees & taxes!  I would expect wheelchair seating to be $49-$70 as it shows on www.ticketmaster.ca.   Gas alone will kill our money tree.

This looks like a really good show to me.  We also had our passports expire while I was sick.  This show is out of the question for me.  It’s also a bit to hit & miss for me anyways.  Tool, A Perfect Circle, Stone Temple Pilots, & Stitched Up Heart.  Many more too………

Sometimes I don’t like the fact that I live in the middle of nowhere.  Some bands must think “We’ll play everywhere in Canada except the northern Territories, Maritimes, & Saskatchewan”.  Weird, yet In Flames from Sweden has been to Saskatoon about 2 or 3 years ago!  Some bands hit Montreal, Toronto, & Vancouver & call that a Canadian tour.  Those places are minimum a 2 day drive for us!

I have to see Queens of the Stone Age at least once before I die.  This is their 7th studio album, & it’s AWESOME, makes me want to bust a move, in my wheelchair!

The more you share this, the more readers I get.  No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.
