Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Rush” the album “Clockwork Angels”

I exercised to “Pink” the album “Hurts 2B Human”

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The air conditioning is still not working, but I assume by Wednesday they should have the compressor for us, that’s what I’ve been told.  I woke up at about 5:10 am on Monday.  Exercised, had breakfast, emptied the dishwasher, Kim went to work & then I showered.

I spent my day from 10:00 am until Kim was off work (4:30 pm) packing my CDs from bigger boxes to filing boxes, in alphabetical order, all 600 or somewhere about there.  8 filing boxes, the final one is demos, masters, recorded portions of songs, & bands I’ve shared a stage with that never made it big.  That’s how I kicked off the week, sitting on a hard laminate floor saying my alphabet as a mantra in my head.

Surprising how much work that was, I was very tired.  That’s likely why I never really had a desire to have a desk job.  Working as a printing press operator is the complete opposite of having a desk job.  No break time, just have coffee or eat lunch when you can fit it in.  I really grew to like that part of the job, 8 hours straight & you’re done!

Tuesday morning I got up at 6:30 am, did my exercises until 8:00 am, to go to my parents’ for breakfast around 9:15 am.  Friends of the family had stayed over Monday night while passing through town.  I can’t drive, please remember that I’ve been picked &/or dropped off by Kim, another family member or friend.  They’ve all had to learn how to collapse my wheelchair & fit it into their vehicle.  That’s why we have an SUV, for room in the back to fit my wheelchair in once it has been collapsed.

Got home close to 2:00 pm & had a visit with the folks at Apple Support.  Took a while but problem solved in just around 1 hour & 20 minutes.  I don’t care how long it takes Apple to fix my problem, I’m just happy they can get it done for me!  I’ve got nowhere to go fast.  I have no trouble talking with them & following their instructions.

I saw the other day on www.loudwire.com that “Slayer” was announcing their final tour?  I thought they were on their final tour with “Lamb of God” as one of the openers?  Wasn’t that part of the reason “Lamb of God” couldn’t fit in any time to write & record a new album?

New “Ed Sheeran” I out this Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whichever albums you like sir!  Nobody has the right to tell YOU what music you should or shouldn’t listen to!?  I don’t understand the concept of good or bad music, it’s obviously good enough for someone to create & something others must like or else you likely wouldn’t know about its existence.  I listen to some “Green Day”.

https://thehardtimes.net/music/punk-unsure-green-day-records-hes-allowed-like/?fbclid=IwAR1P67Vt53dqvER7cyBGY5KQdNI8ZPmtO8-3ucC6YdTCEnp9SVoX7liL_vI

There has to be a new “Big Wreck” album on the way.  So far they’ve announced a tour beginning in September all the way through October in the Maritimes & America.  I’m sure Brian’s health & death are/were a delay.  They have released 2 standalone singles & one has a video.  They also showed a clip of different video early last month or in late May.

I’m itching for an album & a tour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TAYLOR HAWKINS/TAYLOR HAWKINS & THE COATTAIL RIDERS/THE BIRDS OF SATAN

Taylor Hawkins, the 2nd drummer of “Foo Fighters” who joined the group to tour with them after the 2nd album was recorded.  He was playing drums for Alanis Morissette behind her album “Jagged Little Pill” at the time.  Dave Grohl saw him play at a festival.  Taylor played/auditioned for “Foo Fighters” after Grohl told him ‘If you jam with us, you’re the guy, you’re in the band, and you have to join us.’  The rest is history, he’s been a Foo Fighter ever since.

He may be best known as the drummer for Foo Fighters, but he has many side projects, one of them as a drummer/singer in a cover band called “Chevy Metal”.  The other 3 are listed above.  I believe he sings & plays the drums in each group.  He’s written a couple of Foo Fighters songs as well.

This is now pretty much a guarantee when seeing Foo Fighters live.

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.  “Nickleback”, “Nothing but Thieves”, “Led Zeppelin”

Little story first.  The first band I played & sang with was 4 of us taking Engineering in the U of R.  I had already dropped out of university & went to S.I.A.S.T. to take the Graphic Arts Production class.

In 2002 we played “Beerfest”, a cabaret put on by the Engineering student society.  500 people, the biggest crowd I’d ever played to & likely the biggest crowd I’ll ever play to.

We finished one of our 3 sets with the song “Enter Sandman” by Metallica.  I introduced it as old Metallica.  The song was 11 years old at that point.

We got off stage & I was making my way to the back of the room to see some of my friends.  I was stopped along the way by an angry guy that wanted to beat the crap out of me for saying “Old Metallica”.  I didn’t fight him.

I know that wasn’t what devoted Metallica fans would call “Old Metallica”.  “Old Metallica” would be the first 4 albums, not the 5th album though.  I told him to “Chill out, it’s 11 years old”.  I walked past him as his friend was holding him back.

We stayed in Friday night.  Kim was working until 6:00 pm.  She brought home 2 salads from “Chopped Leaf” for supper.  I was part way through the Blue Jays game.  We stopped that ASAP to turn on “The Ellen Degeneres Show” as usual.  I watched the end of the game, another losing effort.

I’m watching this year to see who could make it on to the 25 man roster next year.  The team this year is mostly made up of rookies or young (20-28) year olds.  This is a rebuilding year with players from the minor league system coming up to the big league.

We rented a movie from iTunes.  Kim picked what was a great movie, “The Upside”

We were at my parents’ place for Saturday afternoon & a bit of the evening.  Mom made friends with a massage therapist in Winnipeg.  I guess she comes to Regina on occasion.  She REALLY got my shoulder to loosen up.  I haven’t felt that relaxed in decades.  She’s heading here in June again, I will definitely get another treatment!

We came home grabbed a wrap at “Tim Hortons” for supper & I made my vegetable juice for the week.

Today Kim got up to go for a run.  We then went to see our “niece” play at her first piano recital.  We’re now about boil some eggs & finish the laundry.

I feel as though I’ve hit a wall.  I’m extremely exhausted physically.  I’ll see how I feel tomorrow & decide if I should do my exercises or just hang out tomorrow?

I don’t think this will be my favourite summer?  All of these AWESOME albums are supposed to be released this year, which is great!  My fear is that they will be released within 3 weeks of each other.  To add to that the man who shall not be named in the White House has gone rogue & doing whatever he wants.  Even here in Canada I’m leery at best.

Never thought I’d do it, but I bought the latest “Nickleback” album.  It has a few “Arena rock” songs & some other songs that lean more towards a metal vibe.

A fan covering “Stone Temple Pilots” on piano.  WOW!

She just released a new album on April 26th.  I love it just as much as previous release “Beautiful Trauma” which is very addictive to me.  This new album is titled “Hard 2B Human” & it’s very good also.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

4 day exercise total; 000 pushups, 200 leg lifts, 300 crunches, 0 tricep lifts, 300  squats, 200 back flexes.  Yoga & stretching for just over an hour on Tuesday & Thursday.  No arm stuff this week, those muscles are incredibly sore.

I fell asleep to “Pink” the album “Hurts 2B Human”

I exercised to “Metallica” the album “Master of Puppets”

Please know that I wasn’t an angry monster this entire time?  I bawled a lot while in the WRC, my frustration & anger got to the point where I’d send any random person that didn’t agree with me a nasty email or private message.  The frustration, anger, & stress took over again in late April.  As for now I’m feeling better by just admitting publically that it’s all on me.  I can’t wait to see a professional & start dealing with my issues, & having so many people not tip-toe around me in case I blow up.  I was never that person before & I REALLY don’t want to be that person again, EVER!

I may exercise quite a bit, so the physical side of cancer can easily be worked on.  The mental side I’ll have to have assistance with.

I had a routine Cancer Clinic appointment late Wednesday morning.  Different Doctor that has never seen me before.  My doctor is away until this summer.  No cancer & nobody called me fat!

The doctor asked what I did for exercise since it came up.  I told him part of my workout schedule & he just stopped me & said “Well now I feel bad”.  I told him it wasn’t that big of a deal, I don’t have a job, therefor I have all the time in the world to exercise.

He went on to say that many people who get cancer often wonder “Why me”?  I did that for quite a while until I realized & wrote this before, “Why not me”?  I’d rather be on the inside of the story than on the outside looking in & wondering/worrying if things will workout?

22 years ago on May 20th 1997, Foo Fighters released “The Colour & the Shape”.  The next, 3rd, album “There is Nothing Left to Lose” inspired me to pick up a guitar & teach myself how to play it.

What will be coming out this year & is already recorded!  Alter Bridge, Big Wreck, Chevelle, Sum 41, & Tool, so they say.  Here are the tracks these bands have released from their new albums.

THE DAMNED THINGS

This group is more of a side project for the 5 musicians that are already in different bands.  Guitarist Scott Ian from “Anthrax”, the 2 lesser known members of “Fall Out Boy”, the 2nd guitarist & drummer.  A singer & bassist that don’t ring a bell for me.  They released their 2nd album at the end of April.  WOW sophomore slump.  The first album was great, nothing like the 2nd album at all.  I don’t like calling out a band on a bad album.  I preordered it so that’s on me.  Neither of their albums are really metal, they’re more of a hard rock vibe to them.  I’ll give 2 songs from each album.  Maybe the 2nd album will grow on me?

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

NO POST UNTIL FRIDAY!!!  THEN WE’LL CARRY ON AS USUAL.

Music throughout the weekend.  “Pink”, “Pantera”, “The Struts”, “Obadiah Parker”, “The Watchmen”, & a mix I made of 80s & early 1990s songs “Bobby McFerrin”, & “Fall Out Boy”

I stayed up until shortly after 10:00 pm on Friday, watching the Blue Jay game.  I didn’t watch the entire game though.  I watched the game until the 4th inning.  The Jays were winning 9-2 at that point.  I watched the rest of it on Saturday to see them win 10-2.  Way behind on Saturday’s game.  I’ll have to watch Saturday’s game on Sunday.  Busy weekend!

My 2nd cousin who is a year younger than me is in town this weekend from Winnipeg.  Saturday her & her common law husband came over to see our place & stroll over to see a MASSIVE private liquor store in town.  We then went to my parents’ place for supper, Rebellion beer, & a game.  Good to see them REALLY nice people!

On Sunday Kim & her sister were planting their bedding plants.  Kim’s pots for our place & the plants for Sherry’s yard & pots.  Pretty cold outside at +13C.  So I stayed home.  If it was nicer outside, James & I could have done play by play on their deck!

Today Kim made a REALLY good brunch for the 2 of us.  I’ve boiled my eggs for the 4 day week.  I’ll make my veggie juice, then we’ll plunk down on the couch to watch some TV or have a nap!  My vegetable juice is similar to a V8, but with no salt added or any spices other than a chunk of ginger for a bit of kick to it.

I’m a Canadian, living in Canada & I’ve been watching WAY TOO much CNN.  I quit watching CNN to 10 minutes over the last 2 weeks & I just don’t care anymore.  I don’t like Trump & I’ve never been a fan of him, EVER!  I realized that he’s not my problem unless I move to America.  Not watching him lie repeatedly REALLY makes me happier & I don’t swear at the TV nearly as much as I used to.  I don’t like him & I never will.  I don’t need to watch every stupid thing he does.  CNN no more.

Will this work?  I would’ve preferred John Hamm, but I guess we’ll see what happens?

I hear that a TON of DC Comic fans really don’t like this move!  Give him a chance, what’s the worst that could happen?  He’ll ruin a movie franchise that’s already just trying to keep it’s head above water?  I prefer the darker DC Comic movies, he’s not guilty of anything, wait & watch.  Trump’s president so anything can happen

Perfect ending to The Big Bang Theory?

https://www.usatoday.com/videos/life/tv/2019/05/17/big-bang-theory-season-finale-song/3700577002/?fbclid=IwAR1qIo5-Nb-Hg3NsMyeLQX28VoqsyeVzZPoeKdz0htMAzpSZvOAAqYqbwVU

“Chevelle” are now done their new album!  A follow up to their album of scraps kicking around (B sides & rarities).  For a handful of 12 songs that weren’t released, it’s a very good album!

Apple/iTunes had better get their act together if they won’t allow CDs or any 3rd party files on their streaming & downloading services.  Last year I bought a live album on CD.  Because it’s not on either service from Apple.  If I’m missing out on albums only available on CD, it’s on Apple.  Even if it’s only on streaming I’ll miss out!  I’ve added many albums that are no longer in print & not on iTunes, when I first started using iTunes.

THEM CROOKED VULTURES

This is a “Super Group” I now love.  I love the 3 members in their everyday bands, but this album was somewhat disappointing to me, & it wasn’t over hyped at all.  It just kind of showed up for me.  It was released in 2009 & I was in the hospital completely unaware of it to be fair.  The group is Dave Grohl (Nirvana & Foo Fighters) on drums, Josh Homme on guitar & lead vocals (Queens of the Stone Age), & John Paul Jones on bass (Led Zeppelin).

I listened to this album recently during my exercise.  It finally clicked, it took me a decade, but I really like this album now.  When I bought the CD, I listened to it a few times & forgot about it.  This happens to me quite often.  I’ll buy an album, listen to it about 3 times & forget about it.  Then 2 or more years go by & I’ll listen to it again & I’ll change my mind completely.

Our brother-in-law is a HUGE fan of RUSH.   For a long time since the spring of 2002 he’s been giving me the gears about not liking RUSH.  I listened to some RUSH from the ‘80s on.  I thought the mix was different & Geddy Lee’s voice wasn’t as prominent, I was wrong.  It was that the synthesizer wasn’t used as much & is gone in the later albums.  I now love RUSH from 1985 – whenever they broke up a few years ago.

Same with Metallica.  It took 33 years & the album “Hardwired…………to Self – Destruct” for me to become a fan.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

5 day exercise total; 200 pushups, 600 leg lifts, 450 crunches, 150 tricep lifts, 450  squats, 300 back flexes.  Yoga & stretching for just over an hour on Thursday.  Today, YAY no water pressure.  Kim walked out the door for work & the water pressure died within 10 minutes.

I fell asleep to “Big Wreck” the 20th anniversary of “In Loving Memory of…”

I exercised to “Foo Fighters” the album “The Colour & the Shape”

NO POST UNTIL MONDAY.  LONG WEEKEND, SEE YOU THEN!

When I do my exercises I always try to at least hit my goals, if not exceed them.  By the time Thursday rolls around, I’m very tired.  My muscles on top of my shoulders are sorer this week than last week.  I’m not doing arms next week, 2 days of stretching & yoga next week.  I felt fine, started with my tricep lifts on Tuesday & almost cried in pain, I finished doing 150 of them, then my 200 pushups.  Pushups were fine.  Maybe yoga, stretching, & 200 pushups next week?  I am SO ready for the weekend.  My shoulders are killing me!  I took a muscle relaxant in hope of getting rid of this pain.  I have to make sure I can take certain medications with my regular pills.

All of these pills make me feel old.  I’m going to see a psychiatrist for my depression, not a psychologist.  A psychiatrist will chat briefly & prescribe medication.  I don’t think more pills are what I need.  As much as I don’t like talking about my mood or emotions, that’s probably what I need.  The first thing I’ll tell the doctor is that I would like to not have more pills.  The pills don’t seem to be helping much, if at all.

There’s supposed to be a TON of new albums out this year, yet only 7, 4 albums I had no clue about, have been released & I know of 3 that are in the mixing process.  Where is the new “Chevelle”, “Lamb of God”, “Anthrax”, or “Megadeth”?  “Tool”, “Big Wreck”, & “Alter Bridge” are done recording & now mixing.  I’ve got 2 standalone singles from “Big Wreck”.  I hope there is a bit of time between the releases.  I like to give each album a concentrated listen or usually 5 good listens to it before saying anything about it.  I had no clue about “Pink”, “The Damned Things”, “Sum 41” or “Devin Townsend” so those were pleasant surprises!  “Sum 41” won’t be released until mid-July.  Right now “Pink” & “In Flames” are my favourite releases of the year so far.

The 3 in mixing at the moment are the 3 albums I’m really anxious to hear, “Tool”, “Big Wreck”, & “Alter Bridge”.

I know all of this exercise is beneficial.  Right now I’ve got a “…beefy arm & a wing-a-ling….” Beefy on the right arm & wing-a-ling for my left arm.

I use my right arm mostly, my left arm shakes quite a bit.  If I go to fill my water bottle & get a glass of juice.  The water bottle has a lid so I carry that with my left hand, the shaky one.  The glass of juice will be in my right hand.

Did everyone catch the series finale of “The Big Bang Theory”?

THE AGONIST

A metal group from the province of Québec, Canada.  I own all of their 5 albums.  I bought their first album on CD when it was released in 2007.  They’re fronted by a female, in 2007 & now.  I think the original singer was replaced for the 4th & 5th album, I know she was replaced but I’m not sure when?  Both were capable of doing death metal vocals & singing.

I saw them on Much Music on the show “Loud” that I recorded since it was on at 3:00 am or some ridiculous time.  They’ve released 5 albums in total, the first 3 are no longer available on iTunes?

2007   ONLY ONCE IMAGINED

2009   LULLABIES OF THE DORMANT MIND

2012   PRISONERS

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “Concrete & Gold”

I exercised to “Pink” the recent album “Hurts 2B Human”

My family was told, in 1999, that cancer is not genetic, WHAT?  Why were my mother & my aunt told to get regular mammograms after my grandmother died of stage 2 breast cancer?  My grandmother died of breast cancer, my grandfather died with cancer everywhere, my aunt died of breast cancer, & I got stage 4 brain cancer.  Odd that 4 people on my mother’s side of the family, including me, all had cancer since it’s not genetic?  Tell me another story, preferably a non-fiction story, because I’m not buying this one.

My grandfather died near the end of my time at the Wascana Rehabilitation Center.  Oddly enough he was just around the corner from the room I was in of the Pasqua hospital.  My grandmother was there as well in 1999.  Other than my aunt, 3 people in my family have been there.

Grandpa was full of cancer & had Alzheimer’s.  I often wonder if Alzheimer’s was why he never said anything about his health or if he felt anything wrong?  The nurses & doctors were FANTASTIC there.  So please don’t think that I’m putting any blame on them.

3 brain surgeries, & my odds of coming out of a coma were 5% – 15%.  4 weeks later I was awake.  I got really lucky!  1 week of an induced coma & 3 weeks of me being in a non-induced coma.

I’m assuming that with new technology they may now have found that it is genetic?

System of a Down news.  New album from the group stuck in limbo for now.

This is VERY impressive from a 9 year old!

This is only my personal opinion.  TV streaming sites are great.  The actors don’t complain about being under paid.  I’m not sure where the money comes from, but I’ve never heard an actor complain about their lack of payment.  They’re not complaining, neither am I.  Here’s the second part of this topic.

Yes, I used Napster for a bit, & torrents later on.  The albums I got from torrents, I actually bought CDs for most of them, if not all of them.  Now Apple will not allow any CDs or third party files on their music player.  Why?  Most musicians are complaining about not being paid for their work.  Remember when the U.S.A. government was shut down & federal employees weren’t getting paid.  Why was that so terrible, but nobody seems to care about musicians getting paid?

I use iTunes & pay the for each $9.99 album.  If I had the money & physical space I’d buy vinyl.  Do I ever dream of being of being a working musician?  I used to, but not if I bring in pennies for music & depend on people buying merchandise, oh & that cancer thing too.

Musicians aren’t retail sellers at a clothing store, they make music.  Somebody will see this & say “They charge so much for a concert ticket though.  That’s why I stream music.”  That’s fine if you prefer to stream it or not, that’s a personal decision.  When you use the price of a concert ticket as a reason for streaming, you’re telling me you have or will see every concert by every musician you listen too?

MATCHBOX TWENTY

I have 2 of their 6 albums.  Good albums, but total 90s generic radio rock with a lot of pop thrown into the mix.  I was a teenager in the 90s.  This was the music that was right up my alley at the time.  Even though I may not listen to it much, Matchbox Twenty were a BIG part of my musical upbringing.  I did get to see them live on one tour that passed through Regina.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “In Flames” the album “I, the Mask”

I exercised to “Pink” the album “Hurts 2B Human”, followed by “Pentatonix” their only original album which is self-titled.

This is a bit late.  I had a routine CT scan early this morning, nothing’s wrong, just time for a routine cancer checkup later on, probably in June.  They’ll need the CT scan results.

I’ll turn 40 next year, I’m not scared of 40 at all.  I don’t think it’s anything to worry about.  Why wasn’t I terribly scared of 19, or any other birthday?  “Ooooh you’re 40 that’s another step towards being old & closer to death!!!!!!!!!”  Every birthday is a step closer to death, heck every second is a step closer to death.  So why do we celebrate birthdays?  We’re here, so we should be happy that we are still here!

I survived cancer.  What does this tell me?  I’m not done whatever I’m supposed to do, & I need to continue celebrating my birthdays.  Life is short enough as it is, better have fun since we’re here for a short time.  Look at the calendar, it says 2019 that’s over 2000 years & the Earth is older than 2019 years!  Make your time here fun.  We are but a blip in the Grand Scheme of things!

Yesterday was a day to celebrate!  Wedding anniversary.  BEST. DAY.  OF.  MY LIFE!!!!  It’s a birthday for two people that decided to get married.  She REALLY took the wedding vows seriously!  Even one of my doctors at the cancer clinic called her “The best wife I have ever seen”.  I was 6 days past my 28th birthday when I went into the hospital.  For 4 ½ years Kim was there with me 24/7.  She stayed with me, she’d take me to my therapy sessions, have lunch at the food court in the Wascana Rehabilitation Program, sleep on whatever shady looking cot they could find, set up my IV for me at the cabin, drive me everywhere, etc.  Kim truly is “The nurse who loves me”.

Sure it was rough time, but with Kim it was much better with her than it would have been on my own.  I wouldn’t be here without her.

13 years & new Tool music has been heard?  When I can purchase new Tool music, I’ll believe it.

It was our 14th wedding anniversary yesterday.  It was also 23 years ago that Pantera released their album “The Great Southern Trendkill”

LAMB OF GOD

If you don’t like them that’s fine, metal isn’t for everyone.  If you’re hung up on awards, they’ve won around 5 or 6 Grammy Awards.  Yes they’re my favourite metal band.  5 guys from Richmond, Virginia.  Very misleading name though.  Their original name was “Burn the Priest” for their first release & a recent cover album.  The first album from “Burn the Priest” I can’t stand.  They’re not rich from being musicians, iTunes was already a thing.  As the vocalist said “I get to scream at people, travel the world, & sell T-Shirts!”  He had an alcohol addiction & dealt with it.  He’s been sober for around 8 years.  They have 7 studio albums as “Lamb of God”.  I’ll give you a couple of song from 3 full albums & a song from their 5 song EP.  The following is a part of the reason Kim & I don’t play our music around each other.

I would just assume there’s LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2004   ASHES OF THE WAKE   (My favourite album by them)

2006   SACRAMENT   (The album that made me dig deeper into their catalogue)

2015   VII: STURM UND DRANG

2016   THE DUKE EP

The Duke is about a fan of the band who became a friend of the vocalist.  The fan had cancer & unfortunately died.  They made this EP after his passing.

With this band I can start with their 2nd album as “Lamb of God”- present, “As the Palaces Burn”.  All killer, no filler!  All the way to “Sturm und Drang”, The EP “The Duke”, & The cover album they released under the name “Burn the Priest”
