Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend. “Foo Fighters”, “Queens of the Stone Age”, “Alter Bridge”, “Dead Sara”, “Halestorm”, “A Perfect Circle”, & “Eric Clapton”

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday evening was quite tame.  We watched “The Ellen Degeneres Show” as usual when Kim gets home, I watched half of the Blue Jays game, then we binge watched 4 episodes of “The Fosters” on Netflix.  We’re half way through season 3.

Saturday morning Kim picked up our friends daughter & took her out for a while.  I got up while they were out & watched the last 3 innings of the baseball game.  Then I watched the pre-game for Saturday’s Blue Jays game.

Then Kim & Hannah came here to paint, colour, use the sticker books, have lunch, etc.  By then I was watching the “Banjo Bowl” between the Saskatchewan Roughriders & the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Winnipeg.  That finished & I watched Saturday’s Blue Jays game.  Once that was over, Kim wanted to watch more of “The Fosters”.  We binge watched 3 episodes & went to bed.

While Hannah was here, she was very intrigued by “Uncle” Chris’ new Roughrider green wheelchair!  She spent quite a bit of time going across our suite & turning around to go back the other way, after we helped her figure out how to use it.  She’s a better driver than me.  She also watched some of the football game.  She told me “Uncle Chris.  In our house, we always cheer for the Riders”.  Smart kid, she’s being raised by good parents!

Went over to Corey & Jolene’s place for a BBQ.  Beer + meat = good times.  A get together for a bunch of us to see Kayll, Shannon, & toddler Emmett!

Why bother making the announcement to not play a song?  Even “Big Wreck” did this with the song “Ladylike” from their 2001 album “The Pleasure & the Greed”

This was supposed to be about Mike Myers channeling ‘Wayne’s World’ but nothing says “Alice Cooper” like bubble machines!  Hahahahahahaha!  I love Alice Cooper!

PHIL COLLINS/GENESIS

I’ve always enjoyed Genesis & Phil Collins, together & Phil Collins as a solo artist.  Phil Collins was the drummer in Genesis while Peter Gabriel was the singer.  I don’t know if Peter Gabriel left or was forced out of the band?  Phil Collins took over as singer when Peter Gabriel was out of the band.  Who is Peter Gabriel you ask?  This guy…

I was born in 1980.  My parents didn’t listen to ‘80s hair metal, so I wasn’t exposed to that music.  I grew up to what they listened to.  I wasn’t exposed to my generation’s music until I was in high school in the early ‘90s.  I did purchase the Genesis album “We can’t Dance” which was released in 1991 & I probably bought it when I could drive or asked my mom to buy it for me at Costco?  All that I own now is a Genesis Greatest Hits album & a couple of Phil Collins Greatest Hits albums from iTunes.

I fell asleep to “In Flames” the album “Soundtrack to Your Escape”

No stretching music today.  Kim was listening to “music at work.”

Exercise total for the week.  Well I only did a lot of stretching as recommended by my physiotherapist.  300 leg lifts on both legs, 300 calf raises, 300 pushup stretches, & other stretches.  The pushup stretches, I keep my hips on the ground and arms further away, up, from my head on the ground so I just stretch my back with each pushup & hold it for a bit.

LGBT.  This is a love/hate thing for me.  I’m a 36 year old straight male.  I hate the fact that we have to have a society name for people, it is 2017 & time to get over the fact that you’re not the same as everyone.  That’s why I don’t like it.  Why I do like it is that a community, that gives others safety & comfort.  Unfortunately those who aren’t OK with it have to evolve.  Comedian, Patton Oswalt, put it in an easy way to view it.  “You don’t have to understand it, you have to acknowledge it”.  What he’s saying is it’s happening either way, don’t pretend it’s not happening.  Get over it!  We’re all “Global Citizens” respect & kindness go along way!

I really like this new trend of females fronting rock/metal groups.  Something refreshingly new.

Don’t feel as though you have to click on every link.

It’s odd that my chiropractor noticed I was wearing pants instead of my year round shorts attire.  Mark your calendars’ it was yesterday.  January 11th.  I wore pants for the first time this year, 2017.  I think I wore pants 4 times last year?

“But it’s so cold out, how do you do that, are you nutz?”  Being a little bit off helps but think of how long I’m actually outside.  We have underground parking, so I’m not outside.  We also have rock star…………….mmmm…………handicap parking very close to the building we’re going to.  I’m outside for 2 or 3 minutes in total to & from where ever we we’re.

Our wedding was in May 2005.  If I could change one thing about our wedding, it would be the normal formal attire.  “Are you comfortable?  Underwear & a T-Shirt?  Come on in!”  As long as the bits & pieces are covered, who cares?

Anyways, I saw my chiropractor yesterday & this pinched nerve has been preventing me from doing anything for roughly 2 months now.  I’ll be getting a referral to a physio therapist on Monday.  If it continues to bother me, after I don’t know how long I’ll be given a cortisone shot, which would be my 8th since 2008.  Not fun but they work!  “Let me shove this 8” needle in you.”  Kim couldn’t even watch & she’s not worried around needles.  The needle didn’t really hurt, the doctor put so much pressure on the needle into my spine.  I’ve had back issues since high school.

I reached all of my exercise goals this week.  I’ve been tired a bit more than usual this week.  I like getting up somewhere between 6:00 am and 6:30 am or at least by 7:00 am, which happened most of the week other than Thursday.  Kim woke me up multiple times before she left for work.  I slept in until 8:00 am.  The entire day I felt like I was chasing the day!  My exercises take a bit longer & I had other stuff I wanted to get done.

7500 crunches, 600 squats, 500 leg lifts, & 500 pushups in a 5 day week.

Every day of the week starts with 60 squats, a 3 minute rest, 60 more squats, 50 leg lifts on my back, 1500 crunches.  Then 50 more leg lifts on my hands & knees, then 100 pushups.

Once that’s done I have coffee, my blende juice of fruits & vegetables, & I always have a 700 ml of water with me.  During the day I have a minimum of 2.1 liters of water, & that’s why I pee so much.  Then I either shower, write a blog post, or vice versa.

I really like this rock album.  I like this trend of females fronting groups.  For me, it’s a welcome change of pace.  Interview with Taylor Momsen of “The Pretty Reckless”

Justin Timberlake as a guest on Jimmy Fallon

Phil Collins on Jimmy Fallon, no pressure Questlove!

I love “Criminal Minds”!!!!!

There is good country music out there, but it’s not something I’d listen to very often.  That being said the good music of any genres is hard to find.  I don’t like a metal group just because they’re heavy?  I listen to pop, rock, & metal, & then whatever catches my ear.  Example; I really like “Dixie Chicks” Kim has their albums, I like them.  I don’t listen to them often, but they’re on my iPod for when I’d like to hear something different.  Honestly, I’ve never heard a country song that gets me excited or think “Oh man, I have to get that album!!!!!!”

I’m not sure if I’ve shared this review before, I know I’ve watched it though.  No it’s not “Alter Bridge”, it’s “Opeth”

I guess this is Muse’s Halloween surprise.

Metallica album teaser.  I think I’ll be getting this album.  It’s only taken 33 years for me to enjoy an entire Metallica album!  Still a wait & see album for me

That being said, you shouldn’t live in fear for your entire life about being diagnosed with a terminal disease! Yes, it’s hard for everyone around you (not just you) to deal with it. I guarantee everyone will deal with the situation differently, in their own way. If you’re not happy with the way others deal with it, give them time & space to deal with it.

Right from “Finger Eleven’s” Facebook page

“Why would you ever sign a petition against anyone creating music? There’s nothing official yet but I guess Kanye West might release some Bowie covers?? There’s an online petition against this idea in any case. Makes me crazy..
Same thing happened when Phil Collins announced that he finally got his back issues under control through surgery allowing him drum again. He’s planning on coming out of retirement to play. An online petition against THAT showed up.
I’m going to go ahead and avoid the Kanye covers but I’ll be damned if I sign a petition against him making his music. It’s arrogant to pretend that any kind of petition would stop anyone from creating anyway. That’s not how the creative process works. You can’t just petition away all the music you happen to disapprove of.
I know what we do: let’s start a petition to stop petitions that stifle artists creativity. More music for everybody! Boom. Issue resolved!”

YAY IT’S FRIDAY!!!

I get anxious for the weekend as well. I get to spend more time with Kim, I always look forward to hanging out with her! Especially since she’s been working a bit of overtime the last couple of weeks. It’s dark when she leaves & dark when she comes home. I miss her being around. Brewster’s fun n’ all, but there isn’t a lot of back & forth in our conversations. It usually ends up with one of us rolling over for a belly rub………………….& it’s not always Brewster.

I’ve been watching “Red State” by Kevin Smith. Freaky, bleak movie, you wouldn’t expect that Kevin Smith has anything to do with it. Basically it’s a religious cult that kills what they think are sinners aka homosexuals & they’re OK with that? But how dare the county authorities kill members of the Church? Great movie, very vulgar & violent. Kim has it on her vito list so I can’t watch it hen she’s home. Fair enough I vitoed some of her movies. “Red State” is rated R so beware! I think the trailer is OK? I can’t believe there are still people like this out there!

As a society. I think we now rely on technology more than we need to. What did people do before cell phones? My car just stopped on a grid road out to the cabin years ago, & it was late. I could have walked since I was close, but what would I have done if I was in the middle of nowhere? Sing “Queen”?

Busy weekend here. Friday we attended a funeral of a distant family member. Saturday was my grandmother’s birthday party. I’ve been to a 2 year old’s birthday party & my grandmother’s birthday party, no I didn’t drink too much to cause any signs of a hangover either time but I’m tired after both! Sunday was Thanksgiving supper here with Kim’s family. I got to see a lot of people this weekend as well as eating WAY TOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finished off the weekend with a Blue Jays win, & supper at my parents house, meatballs with rice & a salad on the side. My grandparents were there along with my aunt from Airdrie

Songs I like, “Silverchair” Not a huge fan but I own 4 albums, that I rarely listen to, & in university we did play one of their songs in our cover band.

“Uh………Rush doesn’t have time to play at Wembley Stadium” someone said this to me before I became a fan of Rush. REALLY in 40 years they haven’t had time to play one show to 85,000 people at Wembley? Foo Fighters will have played Wembley 4 times by the end of this tour cycle in 20 years. Foo Fighters 1st album 1995, Rush’s first album 1974. 21 years difference but Rush is so busy……………? And when did art/music become a competition? Sure Rush is quite likely more talented in a technical sense than Foo Fighters. I don’t care.

Isn’t every song on every album supposed to sound different than the previous song? You can’t make one song with the same guitar riff, beat, bass line, chord progression, keyboard part, horn part, etc. That would be a very boring album for me anyways.
http://classicrock.teamrock.com/news/2015-05-12/def-leopard-joe-elliott-hopes-for-long-album

I have some problems listening to an album that has little to no dynamics. Every album can’t just coast by at 10 on every song. I usually want to hear something that is unexpected for the album. Sure I like metal & yes it’s usually the same dynamic throughout the album. There are many different genres that stay at a certain comfort level & that’s fine. Personally after x amount of time, I get bored with it & need something different. Something that makes me feel human. Something that will shake me & make me feel all of my emotions. That’s what music does for me!

Power’s in a brown out. No internet, TV, Phone, Fridge, Freezer, lights work if it’s dim in the kitchen, etc. just weird? I can do stuff on my computer but not connect to the internet? It’s 1:11 the brown out began a few minutes after 12. When all is working I’ll “…..carry on…..”. 2:00 I’m back!

I’ve got an iTunes account, not an Amazon account, so when your album hits the iTunes store I’ll buy it hassle free. If I order a physical copy/CD it will be from Amazon, I’ll put it on iTunes and forget about the case it came in completely.

Yes, music in schools should always be encourage. It is the universal language & it is mentally stimulating! (Well look at me & my big words). Campbell Collegiate is/was well known for having 1 of the best music programs for high school for western Canada. At least when I was there in the ’90s.

^^Almost makes me want to play video games again. I’m dreadfully terrible at video games. Sport games or “God of War” I was decent at though. “Turtles in Time” for SNES I finished, it was pretty easy.

Hayley William of Paramore has a trailer for a new TV series.

Kim has my “Kryptonite” in the freezer. Ben & Jerry’s “Half Baked”! I haven’t touched it though in the 3 days it’s been here. Right beside my tortilla wraps that I have with chicken & sun dried tomatoes.

When my iPod Classic 160gb dies I’m done with my iPod. I listen to my iTunes through the home stereo. Apple doesn’t need my money. I’m not paying more for less space on a hard drive on an iPod touch. I don’t want an MP3 player that does everything but a cell phone. I don’t take pictures of people because I don’t like to be photographed. So when it dies, I’m out.

I hit another mini milestone today during my exercising. I finally broke a sweat today. 20+ push ups, planking, better yoga today than ever & 300 crunches in set’s of 50.

I got a really good comment from one of my nurses at Wascana. “You look happy…”. I am very happy & I’ve been screwing up my “medication” this week. I haven’t been taking the wrong pills at the wrong time. I haven’t had my happy pills the last 3 days.

Songs I like. “Crash Test Dummies”

This is on the first Dumb & Dumber soundtrack

I haven’t listened to the 3 albums I have of theirs in decades but when they were released on CD, I listened to them a TON!
