Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “The Beatles” the album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” followed by “Metallica” the album “Hardwired………..to Self-Destruct”

Friday ended with me drinking alone & watching the Toronto Blue Jays vs. the Cleveland Indians.  Both had the same win-loss record starting the game which the Blue Jays won 8-4.  The Jays are now 9W-5L.

Saturday we woke up before 8:00 am.  I rolled over & asked Kim what time it was, too early.  Grabbed my iPod Classic, which I’ve almost decided will not be replaced when it dies, then we went back to sleep & I put my iPod back on.  Saturday evening was my dad & brother’s birthday supper at my parent’s place.  Supper, brownies for Mitch, & a Chocolate Extreme Blizzard cake from Dairy Queen for dad.  Good times that went a bit longer than expected.  By 10:00 pm we were all a bit tired & cleared out fast.

The Blue Jay game Saturday in Cleveland was rained out.  Today’s is supposed to be rained out as well.  3 players are currently injured so collectively that’s $54,000,000 worth of players sitting on the bench & the short stop might have a career ending injury.  His contract runs out at the end of the 2020 season.  Teams have insurance incase this type of thing happens.

Typical Sunday for us, getting ready for the week ahead, laundry, groceries, make a vegetable juice, bake some fish, hard boil some eggs, etc.  I’ve got the “American Country Music Awards” recording for Kim.  How on earth did I get stuck with a country music fan?  Country & music don’t even belong in the same sentence most of the time.  Oh wait she HAWT, smart, funny, she loves me, etc.  I do like the Dixie Chicks though.

I don’t play my music when she’s home & she usually does the same.  I find it funny that country “music” has to have it’s own award show, because it doesn’t fit in with the cool kids.  Hahahahahaha!

Before I get into this I should say that “Live’s” albums “Throwing Copper” & “The Distance to Here” are legendary albums for me.

The first band I was in while in University played most of “Lightning Crashes” once in rehearsal, but none of us knew the bridge of the song.  We stopped at the bridge & just never bothered to learn it or play it again, we should have.

2002

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE & FOO FIGHTERS

I got into “Queens of the Stone Age” when they released their 3rd album “Songs for the Deaf” in 2002 with Dave Grohl on drums for all of the songs & a short tour afterwards.  I was already into Foo Fighters, so to see Dave on drums in a “Queens” video was big for me.  I bought the album ASAP.  I listened to it a LOT & soon bought the previous 2 albums, I was hooked.  I was in SIAST but the “Queens” stuff was in a low tuning.  I learned some of it, but it was just a hassle to switch tunings on my guitar for “Queens” stuff & regular tuning for rehearsal.  Foo Fighters released their 4th album on Kim’s birthday that year in October.  Not their best album but also not their worst, but I’m biased when it comes to Foo Fighters……….

Dave Grohl played drums on this album & Elton John played piano on at least a few songs!

Godsmack is still around?  I didn’t even know?  I was never a fan though anyways.

http://loudwire.com/godsmack-when-legends-rise-title-track/

Top 10 Tool songs according to Watchmojo.com.  I wouldn’t put them in any category, especially metal.

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!         Any Tool fan that enjoys marijuana, doesn’t need to bring any to a Tool show, the rest of the audience will get you high on second hand smoke & the crowd also doubles as a fog machine for the band.

I think this guy is over a decade younger than me.  Although he says this ranking of “Muse” albums are just his opinion.

For me it would be “Showbiz”, “The Resistance”, “Drones”, “The 2nd Law”, “Origin of Symmetry”, “Absolution”, & finally “Black Holes & Revelations”.  I guess our opinions aren’t that far off after all.

The more you share this, the more readers I get.  No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.

EXERCISE WEEKLY TOTAL

I fell asleep to “ Stitched Up Heart” the debut album that I got last night at 12:00 am Eastern Time “Never Alone”

Falling asleep to an album isn’t the best way to hear or judge it. What I’ve heard I like & of course I’ll listen to it multiple times. It could be one of those albums I end up binge listening to?

I exercised to “Iron Maiden” the album “The Book of Souls”

Yes, this is also on facebook if you prefer.

https://www.facebook.com/A-Million-Miles-Away-Blog-1597618270456002/?ref=hl

If you’re following the blog on my personal Facebook page, could you please follow it on the link above? Just for me to keep track of subscribers.

www.amillionmilesawayblog.com for email

Exercise total for the week ;7500 crunches, 710 leg lifts, 300 squats, & 250 push ups.

Everything stayed the same this week other than the leg lifts. They went up, then down, & I finally settled on 140 a day. I’ll stay at this plateau for a while. When they seem to easy to do, I’ll likely ad some yoga into the mix?

When I die, multiple decades in the future hopefully, please don’t remember me as “that guy who got cancer when he was 28”? Call me anything but that please, hero & victim don’t ever have to be in the conversation either?

When I was a kid, life was so simple. Recess, candy, colouring books, paint, even in University Rydell & I both thought we’d grow up, get a job & buy a new guitar once a month? Life’s not like that at all! Bills, mortgage payments, most people have kids, work or shift work, etc. As a kid I always thought “Ooo, I can’t wait to grow up & be filthy rich”. It so didn’t turn out that way!

Don’t get me wrong, life is great but in a different way! I get to live with my wonderful wife, I can watch baseball in my underwear (I did that at my parents house too), I can drink alcohol, coffee in the morning etc. It’s great, it’s different but it’s really good!

I was usually home from a day of work, in my underwear, drinking a beer & my younger brother, Mitch, would come home with a friend of his. Most of his friends met me that way. Beer, underwear, & reading an article on the computer in the living room in the basement. I think he got mad at me once & yelled at me once after someone had left? “CHRIS, WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS IN YOUR UNDERWEAR WITH A BEER WHEN I BRING SOMEONE OVER???” That’s just how I roll, I wasn’t going to put on a three piece suit just because my brother was coming home, he’s lucky I was wearing anything at all?

Now it’s just baseball on the TV maybe pants & alcohol during the weekend games or water & carrots or grapes?

Last night we went out for supper with Sherry & James. Left the now buzzed Brewster in their place since he makes too much noise & freak out when he’s here alone

I guess Lzzy Hale got a Metal Hammer Golden God award.

“I’m still flying high from last nights Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards! It was such an honor to perform and I am so humbled to be the first female to win the “Dimebag Darrell Shredder Of The Year” award. Thank you so much to everyone for your vote, and to all my fellow musicians and nominees for making me feel like the little sister of the rock and metal community.
Dimebag, even though you’ve left us, your legend lives on through those you touched along your journey. You continue inspire me to be the best guitarist I can be, and hold on to what makes me unique, because that’s how you lived your life. You were fiercely honest and unapologetic, which is the definition of Metal. This is why, alongside Lemmy and Dio, you are forever a golden god. I will treasure this award forever and I look forward to feeling your presence over my shoulder next time I go over my scales. Speaking of which… Time to go practice!!”

Still a few more albums to look forward to this year. Chevelle in July, Opeth & Alter Bridge in September or later this year, & maybe Third Ion & Into Eternity, then whatever other surprises show up?

I would like to be watching the first Toronto Blue Jays regular season game which the pregame starts at 1:00 pm. Baseball trumps most things on the weekends. Until our TV shows finish their season it’s Blue Jays in :30 which I don’t like but it’s better than nothing I guess? They lost their last 2 spring training games in Montreal against the Boston Red Sox. Doesn’t really matter since they didn’t play all of the regulars for long if at all.

We saw 10 Cloverfield Lane Saturday evening. Would have been a great movie if they could have written an ending. At least John Goodman was in it. I don’t see a reason for a sequel despite the lack of an ending.

Mark Tremonti interview on his upcoming release April 29th, the next Alter Bridge album currently being recorded at the moment, & his desire to collaborate with Metallica.

The Alter Bridge album “Fortress”, their 4th album, was the first album of theirs that I downloaded on iTunes, the previous 3 I bought on CD. My mother got me the 10 year anniversary box set so know I have all four CDs & all four on vinyl, plus DVDs of interviews. Each album seams to be better than the previous release (for me), I hope they continue that trend!

How many Axl Rose on stage blow ups will happen on this “reunion” tour? I’ll guess 2 or 3 as a minimum. For the record, I don’t like Guns n’ Roses. I bought “Appetite for Destruction” their debut album from 1987. I haven’t listened to it in at least 12 or 13 years, I bought since the rest of the world kept telling me it was so good, sorry, not for me. They have their place but for me, it’s buried in my closet, where it will stay.

http://loudwire.com/unforgettable-axl-rose-onstage-moments/?fb02

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At this point you’re probably asking yourself “Does this idiot even like music?”. I do, but it’s not Metallica, GNR, or the entire 1980s L.A. hair metal scene. 1990S “grunge” is more my thing, or modern metal. You probably have never heard of the metal I like unless you’re a fan of metal? The metal I like really isn’t hard to find. There are many other metal fans in Regina that know much more about metal than I do.

1 GNR concert down, 20 to go here’s some info from the first show.

http://loudwire.com/guns-n-roses-first-show-reunited-axl-rose-slash-duff-mckagan-videos-photos-setlist-more/

It’s much more difficult than I anticipated to keep my opinion to myself. Remember that you can always suggest a group to me & I’ll be more than willing to check it out. You don’t have to check out the stuff I like either if you don’t want to, it’s just a suggestion, sort of a “See if you like this?”

This was a topic on one of the far too many TV shows I watch. Is it morally wrong to watch “The Cosby Show” knowing that he allegedly did some terrible things? If so, is it just as wrong to listen to “Michael Jackson” despite what he was accused of doing? I watched “The Cosby Show” growing & it was good as a kid. I have no desire to watch it again, not for what he’s being accused of simply because I don’t need/want to see it again. My parents have a DVD of him doing his stand up comedy, is it wrong that I want to watch it? As for Michael Jackson, I don’t listen to him often, when I do I turn it up to 11! Is that wrong? “…..In a nutshell….” are the fallen entertainment legends labeled for the good things they’ve done or the bad things……………or both, is it OK to enjoy their entertainment while knowing what they’ve been accused of? Is it wrong that I listen to “Moxy Fruvous” still after what Jian Gomeshi has been accused of? O.J. Simpson? So many celebrities. I’m not a fan of NFL & never have been, I had no clue who O.J. was until his trial when I was a teenager in the ’90s. Please respond with your thoughts?

Even singer “Steven Page” of this group was sent to jail for cocaine possession & I still listen to the stuff he sang on. I really don’t know where I stand on the majority of these matters?

I wouldn’t apologize for this, I also wouldn’t use the language he used. It’s a live show. In my opinion, cell phones should not be allowed in any public gathering for a movie or show. Every concert, musical & live performance should at least have the cell phone disclaimer before the show like there is at every movie. You can purchase or rent the movie afterwards. The crappy video & crappy sound on your phone you may look at once & realize it’s terrible but you just paid $90 to see it live & you screwed it up. How about someone coming to your place of employment & video recording you? It will bother you, any co workers, & clients, who need to speak with you.

http://loudwire.com/disturbed-david-draiman-texting-fan-sorry/?fb003

If it comes to the point that I require a cell phone, I’ll use it like a home phone. If I’m out and you’re not there it would be for two reasons only, I didn’t invite you for some reason or you weren’t able to attended and I’m not the one who will give you the play by play. Also if you text me, I’ll call you………………consider yourself warned. I don’t like the idea of mobile devices in the least. You have one that’s fine with me. I don’t need or want one.

I’m not a fan of Gwen Stefani’s solo work but her stuff with “No Doubt” I do enjoy!

I know my brother saw them with “Paramore” as the opener. I think I was in the hospital & I hadn’t heard of “Paramore”? If I had, I would’ve tagged along.

Mark Tremonti on the progress from the studio recording the 5th Alter Bridge album.

“Guitars are coming along nicely!” I hope it’s released this year?!

Guns n’ Roses first show of the reunion tour in a small club. I wonder what other group performs at a small club before a huge tour after recording a new album?………………wait……………it’s “Foo Fighters” usually a secret show with a different name advertised.

http://loudwire.com/guns-n-roses-first-show-reunited-axl-rose-slash-duff-mckagan-videos-photos-setlist-more/

I’m ready to watch baseball and “I’ve got my short shorts on”

Here I come couch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First regular season game, then 161 more to go. I watch the majority of the 3 hour game almost everyday, if I can’t I guess I’ll record “Blue Jays in :30” & I usually feel lonely. I know of 2 friends that can watch a 3 hour baseball game. Last year they played 19 innings instead of the usual 9 innings, that’s just over 6 hours, I watched it all. No such thing as a tie game in baseball, they play until someone wins!

MONDAY’S FAMILY DAY IN SASKATCHEWAN, THIS WILL CARRY ON AS USUAL!

Exercise total for the week? 2 days of walking 630 meters of walking with no rest period on Monday. 670 meters followed by a rest period then 304 meters after the rest period. All of that is a total of 1,604 meters or 1.604 Km. We were going to walk on Wednesday, I did 30 squats & emailed Kim that my hips & thighs were far too sore to go walking that day. 120 squats sets of 15, ½ hour of yoga, 240 push ups sets of 20, 1260 crunches, & 40 leg lifts on my hands & knees.

I’ve ventured a little more into the 21st Century. I now have a “Kindle” thanks to my parents who had an older model not being used. I read 2 chapters of a book (Dark Days, a memoir by D. Randall Blythe vocalist for Lamb of God) yesterday & plan to read whenever Kim goes out for groceries. Eventually I’ll get a 128gb iPod touch, I’m not a fan of touch screens. I have no cell phone, iPad, Tablet, Laptop or anything other than a desktop PC, a 160gb iPod classic, a plasma 51” TV & a 39” LCD TV. I don’t use music streaming sites either, I purchase music from iTunes. My wife has all of the mobile devices in this house, not me. My father is a technological genius with most things! I have trouble now reading an actual book since the print is too small, on a Kindle is much better for me, iPad not so much.

I hear Wednesday was the beginning of Lent. I’m not hard core Catholic but I’ll participate. I’ll give up potatoes since I gag on them, never liked mashed, baked or boiled potatoes. So far I’m doing excellent giving up potatoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I fell asleep to “Big Wreck” the album “Albatross”

Pretty quiet weekend. Birthday party on Saturday, then 9 hours on the couch for me watching Blue Jays baseball beginning Friday night.

All of these weird requests, follow us on twitter, instagram, linkedin, pintrest, etc. I’m on Facebook which I’m not much of a fan of & email. Not everyone is on all of these social media sites? I would like these sites just to have a link to their website? Yet, I look at stuff on Facebook & they all tell me to follow them on whichever other site? WHY? It’s just weird?

Songs I like, “No Doubt”

WITH GREAT POWER COMES GREAT RESPONSIBILITY

Pass this link around to whoever might enjoy it. They don’t have to know me personally. If they read one post & don’t like it, that’s fine.

Let’s get something else out of the way & put it away. I’m what U2 has been looking for, & I let the dogs out! It wasn’t me but it’s about time somebody takes responsibility for these monstrosities!

We watched the following movie Monday night. Bad reviews on iTunes that I totally disagree with. I really liked it! A very good court room drama. I highly recommend it, especially for fans of “Primal Fear”

Cell phones. One of the first things you see on screen at a movie theater is an announcement to turn your phone off. I think that should be at least stated by any band before anyone preforms, probably wouldn’t be that big of a deal. I had a cell phone before I had cancer. I can’t remember who I was seeing or what city it was in? Security at the door was checking everyone for a phone. First they’d ask, “Do you have a phone? If so does it take photos or videos?” I replied “Yes it does”. “Could you please take it back to your vehicle? Otherwise we’ll keep it.” “Yep, no problem”. I already had my phone turned off at the time, taking it back to the vehicle was fine by me, I had 0 intention of using it. I didn’t get cancer that day nor did I die without my cell phone. I haven’t owned a cell phone since Tuesday, February 5th 2008, but I’m here & I’m fine.

I don’t disagree with someone having a cell phone. It’s a personal choice. If you have one please be responsible with it. There’s a time & a place for them, it’s not in a movie theater, music concert or any other public venue. If it rings or vibrates & you have to take it, maybe excuse yourself from your group & take the call elsewhere.

I kind of like the changes iTunes has made for it’s users. Not iTunes Match, terrible software with the launch of Apple Music. They’ve added influences & similar artists to whatever album/artist you’re looking at, that is in your iTunes library! I like that. If it’s someone I’ve never heard of I’ll preview it.

Home Sharing is quite similar to iTunes Match. I don’t recommend iTunes Match though until they fix whatever they messed up with the launch of their streaming site. We no longer pay Apple $27/year for iTunes Match. Match will stream all of our music in my wife’s library as well as mine, on any device, at least when it’s working properly. We could stream our libraries on her cell in the vehicle, our home stereo, etc. Home Sharing does not do that. I have an iPod Classic, I can’t air play my music with that iPod. Kim can with her phone, but only her iTunes library. If we want to play our iTunes in our vehicle, I have to connect it with a USB cable to our vehicle radio, no big deal. Kim’s cell I’m not sure about? As long as I have my computer on, iTunes open & home sharing on, I can play my library on our home stereo.

I have 5 “My Morning Jacket” albums. I had no clue as to who they were when I saw them in Edmonton in 2003 opening for Foo Fighters. Seeing them live is MUCH better than buying an album with the vocals covered in reverb. Here’s an album song I heard in 2003, then bought the CD at the merchandise booth. Imagine this being played by a group of headbangers!

Songs I like, “Nat King Cole” his voice is really good!!!!!

This first song I don’t own, but you might know it?

My Grandmother would sing this quietly to me when I had trouble sleeping at my grandparents house. I was Irene in this case.
