Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Lamb of God” the album “Sturm Und Drang”

My in-laws were in town for the weekend, & I was doing some stuff offline on the computer.  I needed a little break from the computer, didn’t feel long enough though!

Kim’s parents & aunt got here about 3:00 pm or so on Friday coffee for the afternoon & pizza for supper.  The day ended with me staying up way too late, trying to clear the DVR.  We’re behind since I was at a concert on Tuesday & Kim’s taking a photography course once a week from 7:00-10:00 pm.

Saturday Kim & Sherry took their mom to a craft show & then grocery shopping.  That night, Kim cooked ham, hash brown casserole, & carrots.  Dairy Queen for dessert.  Later on was a showing of the movie “Wonder”.

This morning we went to Sherry & James’ for Brunch & a “goodbye” to the 3 headed north.

Nobody sang anything.  This has just been in my head!  They should be home very soon.

We came home Kim’s tending to the laundry, I’ve made my juice & cooked my fish for the week.  Once the dishwasher is done I’ll empty it & Kim will hard boil some eggs for the week.  Pretty tame weekend.  Nice to have Kim’s parents down, we haven’t seen them this year until today.

We still haven’t been to there house since 2007, we’ll likely drive up on a weekend this summer & likely out to the lake a few weekends.

MUSE

6 studio albums, 2 live albums, & a few singles.  They have said that their plans for 2018 is to release a full album & a few singles.  I really got into them in 2006.  I was at a band rehearsal at Todd Bryanton’s house.  He had “Muse” playing as we set up our gear.  I heard it & asked “Is this some new Radiohead I’ve missed?”  He told me it was Muse’s album “Absolution”, their 3rd studio album.

I believe they’re from England.  The comparison to early Radiohead is valid, just don’t tell any member of the Muse super trio (Shhhhh).  I was hooked instantly.  They’ve sort of lost my attention with 2 of their releases though.  They’re both good albums, but they could be better.  Their last 2 singles are great though. “Dig Down” & “Thought Contagion”.  I hope this leads to a great album in the near future.  Here’s a song from each album followed by the two standalone singles…

Now the 2 singles I own.

Dave Grohl is the studio drummer for Tenacious D & often plays the roll of the devil. He’s also played drums on 2 Queens of the Stone Age albums, played all of the instruments on the Probot album which he sent out to his favourite metal singers to sing on, he’s been a producer for a band that went nowhere fast. He’s the drummer for “Them Crooked Vultures” with John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin on bass, & Josh Homme of Queens singing & playing guitar. He’s also directed a documentary movie, the “Sonic Highways” mini series, directed a Soundgarden video, he’s recorded with Paul McCartney, David Bowie, etc.

A bit about how FANTASTIC my father is, 1-800-George! I was in Little League as a kid. My father coached my team for 1 or 2 years? Since nobody else would coach. He knew very little about the game. We won 1 game over the course of a season or 2. Didn’t matter to us much we had fun or at least I did. The most important thing was that we had fun, I got to hang out with my dad while playing my favourite sport. I didn’t/don’t care if we won or lost. It was just cool having my dad as my baseball coach. At practice, games, in the dugout, on our own time with dad hitting ground balls to me to work on my fielding in the back yard or at the park by my parents house! It was just AWESOME!

I grew up on his music & now he’s a fan of Foo Fighters because of my brother & I. Dire Straits, The Beatles, Jimmy Buffett, etc. Might not be on my radar without him. My dad is just flat out AWESOME! He’s “My Hero”

Very cool story shared by TSN. I’ve never heard of this disease? Johnathan deals with it very well. Sucks that this is how he’ll feel for the rest of his life.

Songs I like. I have “The Devin Townsend Project”, “Def Leppard” and others I like but I’d just be choosing random songs. I don’t know the titles for the majority of these groups. “Disturbed” something I listen to maybe once a year. I bought 2 albums & borrowed 3 from a friend. WARNING POSSIBLY LANGUAGE INVOLVED???

I do like my beer, but I’m trying to lose my big ‘ol belly. Unfortunately beer doesn’t help me maintain that elusive girlish figure I once had.

This doesn’t either.

I want this figure again.

This year Muse, Halestorm, Stone Temple Pilots, Into Eternity, Third Ion, maybe Tool, and Megadeth from what I know? I like the latest Smashing Pumpkins (Billy Corgan & friends) album, & Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds album “Chasing Yesterday”

To see Muse live is on my bucket list. This is why I don’t do reviews because I respectfully disagree with Anthony Fantano of “The Needle Drop”.

I don’t expect everyone to have the same opinion on songs I share here. It could easily go 3 ways. Terrible, it’s OK, or I love it.

In Flames live at The Wacken festival in Germany!

That’s great n’ all but when will we get a cross country festival in Canada? Remember the one day long touring festival Edgefest or Summersault? 1 day, outside in Saskatoon, at least 26 bands & 2 stages. ’99 I saw Big Wreck, Sum 41, Treble Charger, Finger Eleven, Hole etc. In 2000 I saw Foo Fighters for the first time, A Perfect Circle, Smashing Pumpkins, etc.

1st album

3rd album

How do you go from that ^^ to this?

4th album

I’ve heard Finger Eleven is done recording their new album. I’m guessing we’ll get new material from them this year? Anything would be an improvement from “Them vs. You vs. Me” from 2007. I like Finger Eleven but that album sounded nothing like a Finger Eleven album. They opened for I Mother Earth on the “Blue Green Orange” tour. This was I Mother Earth’s 3rd album, their 1st with new singer Brian Byrne & Finger Eleven’s first album.

I had heard Queens of the Stone Age were likely hitting the studio last fall. I guess they’re on hiatus though? Well deserved after the album (…like clockwork)

Temple of The Dog. I guess you could say this is a memorial/tribute album to Andy Wood of “Mother Love Bone”, who died of a heroin overdose. The album was released in ’91. Mother Love Bone is basically Pearl Jam with Andy Wood instead of Eddie Vedder. Temple of the Dog has Chris Cornell of Soundgarden along with Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard, Matt Cameron, Jeff Ament and Mike McCready all current members of Pearl Jam. Matt Cameron was in Soundgarden until they broke up in ’97 then joined Pearl Jam. Now that Soundgarden has reunited, he’s drumming for both groups.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUb450Alpps This is the BIG hit from the album. Chris Cornell shared an apartment with Andy Wood at the time. This song has been covered by other groups most recently Halestorm, I prefer the original though…….

You can find this album on iTunes, as well as Mother Love Bone.
