I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “Wasting Light”

I exercised to Kim watching TV.

This is late.  I just didn’t want to get out of bed.  I woke up shortly after 8:00 am & finally got my butt moving at 10:00 am had a quick bite to eat & then exercised.  I thought things would get easier as I did them more?  I sweated profusely today though, doing the same exercises as yesterday.

I’m pretty sure these will be posted later on in the morning since I’ve added more exercises.

I’m not the hero or victim in this cancer nonsense.  My family, Kim’s family, & our friends are the heroes.  I would never be able to get this far on my own.  If Kim wasn’t working, we’d really be hooped.  She works, I exercise.  There’s no income for exercising as much as possible.  Our immediate families are very important to both of us.  James, Sherry, Mitch, Rachel, & my parents are all in Regina.  If we need help of any kind that they can help with, none of them think twice about helping us out.  Our friends in Regina are the same.  If we need help, they’re ready & on call.  No offense to anyone, Mitch & Kim are my phone a friend peeps.

When I was acting like a complete idiot, Mitch put me in my place.  Kim wasn’t very happy at that time either.  I didn’t see it because I wasn’t thinking about anyone else or how my behavior was affecting others.

If things had turned out differently & I had died, many other people would have died on the inside.  I didn’t die though & thank goodness I didn’t!  Not everyone gets a second chance at life other than cats that get 9 lives.  No I’m trying to steer the boat, with many others, in the right direction.  I’m sure we’ll run into some nasty waves along the way but with help awaiting the call, we’ll be OK.

Kim has this entire week off.  We watched 2 more movies on Monday.  Spider – Man Homecoming & Thor: The Dark World.  I really didn’t like the first Thor movie but this second one was REALLY good.  I saw Spider – Man Homecoming in the theater & I knew it was a movie I’d watch again.  Right now I’m holding out to see Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi & we may go this weekend to Pitch Perfect 3?

I’m sure A Perfect Circle will be released this year.  It could be a long wait before we hear a new Tool album.  I’ll believe it when I have it.  Danny Carey said in 2016 that there would be a new Tool album in 2017.  Their last release was in 2006 titled “10,000 Days”.  If that’s when the release is we have roughly 16.397 years to wait, if I did the math properly?  A Perfect Circle has 2 singles out already, still no release date though.

U2 – Songs of Experience.

I was a HUGE U2 fan in High School.  I have 11 albums on CD right from the 1st album 1980’s “Boy” to 2005’s “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb”.  After that album I just assumed they had retired, until “Songs of Innocence” appeared in my iTunes.  That album was light years away from what I would consider a U2 album.  I got into them on “The Joshua Tree” released in 1987.  I (my mom) didn’t purchase it for me until 1989 or 1990(?) when I was with her at Costco & saw it there.  My mother isn’t a U2 fan, but she bought that CD for me.  I played that CD over & over & over etc. in my bedroom on my boom box at a LOUD volume.  I think my mother deeply regretted that Costco purchase.

After that album I casually bought the previous albums & kept a steady pace with future U2 releases.

The new album “Songs of Experience” I seem to enjoy it more with each listen.  I find it to be a good mix of old & new U2.  Here’s someone else’ take on it. I would never suggest a U2 album to anyone that has never been a fan of them.  If you’ve enjoyed previous albums, DEFINITELY check this album out!  Thanks to Jonny Amore & Timothy Wong for drawing my attention to this album!

We had 4 Christmas’ this year.  First up was Christmas with Kim’s family.  Opened gifts here on Christmas Eve, then spent the 25th at Sherry & James’ place.  Played games, had our Christmas meal & watched a movie.  Kim’s family went home on Boxing Day.

In the afternoon of Boxing Day, Corey, Jolene, & Hannah came over in the mid-afternoon to have our Christmas we have with them as we do normally.  No big meal though!  Thank goodness.

The only problem for me was trying to figure out how to get into Sherry & James’ house.  It’s a nice place but not wheelchair friendly.  I made it in without falling!  I don’t think I’ve ever fallen there.  James’ brother Jeffrey was with us for 1/2 Christmas Day, & here on Christmas Eve as well.  He’s a really nice guy to chat with.

On the 27th we had Christmas with my family.  We all did an escape room.  2 teams of 5 people.  My uncle, his girlfriend, & 2 cousins were with us for Christmas.  We had pizza for supper, then opened gifts, & finished the evening with a game of Pictionary & Mad Gab.

After we had just finished opening gifts, my parents got a call from a paramedic in Calgary.  My grandparents were in Airdrie for Christmas staying with my aunt, uncle & 2 cousins.  They had dropped my grandparents of at the airport to fly home.  They hadn’t boarded the plane & my grandmother had “a small heart attack” they said.

They think it was cardio myopathy.  I guess it really damaged her heart & her brain wasn’t working quite right.  Mom & Dad were on the phone a lot on Friday (29th) keeping other family members up to date.

On the 28th I did absolutely nothing, I was REALLY tired.  Kim went over to visit Jolene & Hannah.  Their dog Dug needed to have a play date with Brewster.  Kim thought Corey was working, so I stayed home & watched “The X-Files” on Netflix.  I should have had a nap instead.  I was too young to watch this when it was on TV, but I can’t wait for the new season.

Friday the 29th was Christmas with my mother’s side of the family at my cousin’s house in Rouleau (pronounced Rolo).  Aunts, uncles, cousins & all of my cousin’s young kids.  More of a family get together.  No gifts or anything just appetizers & a turkey dinner.  Unfortunately Mitch & Dad were both ill & stayed home.

It’s REALLY cold out today, December 30, 2017, we’re not leaving the house today however, I’m wearing my usual attire of shorts & a T-Shirt though.  I even asked Kim for some of the comforter in the middle of the night.  That’s very rare.  Make a note on your calendar!

Cold day, a good day to hunker down & watch movies with Kimmy.  She found a “Rocky” marathon.  She loves those movies.  Yes, we own them all, from the first “Rocky” all the way to “#Creed”.

I don’t like to speak about my Christmas gifts.  It’s very embarrassing to me.  I’m grateful for them, but also embarrassed by the amount of stuff I receive.  I prefer & enjoy giving gifts.  That’s one of the reason I don’t talk about what I’ve received.  Please don’t ask?

Well, it’s New Year’s Eve December 31, 2017 means I’m 9 years cancer free.  I’m still in a wheelchair, iPatch over my left eye, & still on 5 medications.  All of that being said, I’m fine.

We spent New Year’s with Corey, Jolene, Hannah, Gosha, Twyla, & Elouise (spelling may be off here).  Yes we were home & in bed before midnight.

Kim has the entire week off, but I’ll start my workouts on Tuesday.   I’m going to change it up a bit throughout the year so it doesn’t become the same daily routine.  You’ll still get a weekly total though!

Just spoke with my mother, mom & dad may be heading to the Alberta boarder to pick up my grandparents this weekend (6th & 7th).  Just the other day grandma thought the year was 1532, she was in a mall, & had been there for 2.5 years.  Sounds like she is doing better now.  When the paramedic called on the 27th we were all shocked that they said Jean Fraser was in the back of the ambulance?  Grandpa is the one with a bad heart.  I guess I’m lucky to still have two grandparents alive at my age.  I also got to know 3 of my great grandmothers.

Another tune from “A Perfect Circle”

If I knew in 2017 what I know now, Pink, U2, The Devin Townsend Project, & Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds would have appeared on my top albums of the year.

Pink – Beautiful Trauma

U2 – Songs of Experience

No, I didn’t care for their free album either, “Songs of Innocence”

The Devin Townsend Project – Transcendence

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Who Built the Moon?

I’ll do a review of these albums over the next 4 posts.  If you’ve never enjoyed U2, you probably won’t like their new album.  As a U2 fan, I REALLY like it.

I fell asleep to “Big Wreck” the album “Grace Street” followed by “Foo Fighters” the album “Concrete & Gold”

I exercised to “Eve 6” all 4 albums on shuffle

I was the only male that went into the French immersion in Kindergarten at Massey elementary & went to Campbell Collegiate, across the street for French immersion.  All of the female students I considered & still consider them as sisters, like Rachelle, Kendra, Fay, Caitlin, Shannon, Stephanie, Jennifer, Vanessa, & probably more that I’m forgetting.  I didn’t have a sister, only a brother (a very good brother).  We may not talk much, but after all of these years I still feel like their brother, & I just want to protect them in a brotherly way.  They’re doing really good though, I don’t need to protect them, but I’m always here if needed.

Not to dilute the previous paragraph but all of my family, friends, & acquaints’ get that respect from me!  You’ve got it right away & it’s hard to have it revoked!  I can be loyal to a fault.  If you don’t feel as though I’m respectful, that’s on me.  I want those who know me to feel a sense of respect, no matter how you feel about me.

My younger brother (7 years between us) is a good guy.  One day, when we rode our bicycles to & from school.  Some elementary student wanted to fight me.  I was in high school, & wasn’t sure what I had done, I hadn’t said anything to this kid, I was just waiting for Mitch.  I got out of school 10 minutes before Mitch.  This kid, slightly older than Mitch, said he wanted to fight me.  To this day I have not been in a fight that I know of.  Mitch heard this kid, kicked him in the shin & said “DON’T HURT MY CHRIS!”

THAT’S ALL FOR WHAT’S ON MY MIND & CANCER TALK!  HERE COMES THE POPCULTURE STUFF!

How Dave Grohl’s coffee addiction put him in the hospital for 2 weeks, a few years ago.  The doctor asked him his age & was surprised that he was even alive.

SOME/MINIMAL LANGUAGE AT THE END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The recent release by Foo Fighters was met with a mixed reactions.  I think it gets better with each listen!  Now I’d rank it as 4 out of 9 studio albums.

No more FF talk!

Yes, I bought an album that is pretty much a rap album.  Hear me out?  “Prophets of Rage’s” new/debut album.  I like Rage Against the Machine, this new album has 2 rappers instead of one.  Rage Against the Machine’s guitar player, bassist, & drummer. Then they did “Audioslave” with Chris Cornell, & now “Prophets of Rage”.

The rapping has never bothered me in “Rage Against the Machine” & doesn’t bother me with “Prophets of Rage”!  Honestly, “Audioslave” got old for me fast.  I have all 3 “Audioslave” CDs, but I end up going back to the “Rage Against the Machine” albums, 3 of the 4 I have.

What has been fairly consistent with the 3 band members is they have very strong political beliefs & it’s very apparent in their music.  “Audioslave” was a bit different & steered away from being so focused on politics.

The “Prophets of Rage” album was also released on September 15th same day as the new Foo Fighters album.  Of course I listened & continue to listen to Foo Fighters, but “Prophets of Rage” caught my attention as a very good album also.  I listened to it on Apple Music first to hear it first to see if the rap was manageable for me.  I thought I fit very well with the music!

I’d put a few more songs here but the rest of the album is full of language.  The 2 other songs with clean vocals are not on www.youtube.com.  I like this entire album, I can listen to it without skipping a song.  If you liked “Rage Against the Machine” this album is definitely worth checking out.

Kids react to “Led Zeppelin”.  I agree with the first kid’s reaction to “Immigrant Song” – YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Sorry, I can’t get behind anything Gene Simmons says.

I don’t watch NFL football, I’ve tried and can’t do it.  I do love CFL football though.

I can tell you right now why NFL players are taking a knee during the anthem though.  They’re not dishonoring the flag, military (some were in the military) or country.  Most players are Black & also play on a team with Caucasians.  They’re taking a knee for the fact that Donnie is racist.  The Caucasian players are joining their team mates in solidarity.  I’m sure when Trump isn’t president they will stand for the anthem.

When he says a person is a “son-of-a-bitch” that’s fine, but when an American doesn’t stand for the anthem that’s disrespectful?  If you’re at or watching an NFL game & 7 people leave after the anthem, they’re still supporting Donnie!

Now I hear that the NFL is possibly changing the rules for Donnie.  Players MUST now stand for the anthem.  I’d just stay in the locker room until the game starts now.  I’ve stopped watching anything with Trump.  Now he’s ruined the sports talk show that I watch, what’s next?

Lamb of God released their first album, under the name Lamb of God, “New American Gospel” 17 years ago on Tuesday.  They released one album previous to this under the name “Burn the Priest” it’s terrible to me & many others.  Here’s one song from “New American Gospel”

The Saskatchewan Roughriders were playing in Hamilton against the Tiger-Cats Friday evening.  Mitch & Rachel came over to watch the game & have supper as well.  No touchdown shooters here, but possibly at my parents place?  They had some friends over to watch the football game too.  Ugly win, Riders tried to lose the game but ran out of time.  A win is still a win so at least the Riders had that going for them.

The Toronto Blue Jays won too.  A win doesn’t really matter for them at this point.  They’re pretty much auditioning younger players for next year, & they’re playing to stir the pot & affect the playoff teams that aren’t guaranteed a spot yet.

I’m anxious for next season of Blue Jay baseball!  These younger players look good, most of them.  The Blue Jays are actually winning games, not at a high rate, but it seems like they’re winning more often.  It’s at least entertaining to watch a game & know they have a chance of coming out with a win.

Say goodbye to José Bautista.  He’s no longer José Bautista who will hit 40+ home runs.  Last year he was injured & hit 20+ home runs.  This year he hasn’t been injured but his offensive numbers are very much the same if not less.  He has an option on his contract for $18,000,000 next year that both he & the Blue Jays have to agree on.  I don’t think anyone will pay him that much.  He’s about my age aka he is not far from retirement in the MLB.

Saturday, we sat around the house just feeling lazy.  Kim did some laundry & our friends from out of town popped by with coffee & cookies from Tim Horton’s.  Very lazy day for us.

Sunday’s are always get ready for the week, make a pitcher of juice, hard boil eggs, finish up the laundry, grocery shopping & this week get refills on the 5 medications I take, all of them at night & 3 or 4 of them first thing in the morning.

U2 on Jimmy Fallon “Bullet the Blue Sky”

I need to listen to the “Divide” album by Ed Sheeran more.  It kinda “Fell Through the Cracks”

And there’s a song to break your nose to.  When you’re 19, in a mosh pit, & instantly covered in blood.  Lie to the First Aid guy so you can hear the end of the song & stay out of a mosh pit for the rest of your life!

I guess there’s a new Fall Out Boy album up for preorder at the moment with 3 songs on for preorder.  Full release January 19, 2018.  I’ll check it out on the release day.

Ozzy, you’re getting old.  Everybody has to retire at some point.

I’ve listened to it more & each time I listen to it, it seems to sound WAY better than the last time!  It’s good enough for me to throw it into my regular rotation.  I’m a HUGE Foo Fighters fan though, this could be a biased opinion though.  My initial reaction, terrible album.  Now it’s not too shabby, they have made a few better albums though.

http://loudwire.com/foo-fighters-concrete-and-gold-album-review/

This album seems to get better to me with each listen.  Don’t buy the hype by Dave Grohl in this “making off” clip.  This album does not sound huge to me.  I still blame the producer for the poor reaction to this album.  No it’s not like Metallica’s “St. Anger”.

What I listen to depends on my mood for the most part.  Metal music tends to calm me.  Hard rock makes me quite energetic.  If I want to relax Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, or Simon & Garfunkel it is!

Jack Johnson recently released an album, great album to listen to for chilling out!

Nothing but Thieves aren’t for everybody but both of their albums are REALLY good!  My favourite album of the year is a tight race between ‘Paramore’s’ “After Laughter” & ‘Nothing but Thieves’ “Broken Machine”

Friday August 25th we went to my parents’ house.  Mom’s birthday, we ordered Chinese food & watched the Roughriders vs. the Eskimos in Edmonton on dad’s 92” HD projector in the basement.  Yes, I fell in the kitchen getting out of my wheelchair.  Not the first time & likely not the last time that I’ll fall.  I’m fine, no big deal, so far, it happens.

Saturday August 26, Kim had a work BBQ to attend, I stayed behind to watch Brewster.  We watched “Deadpool” for the 14th time, & I’m not exaggerating that number.

Sunday was a lot of cleaning & laundry going on here.

Monday August 28, had some friends from out of town over.  Some in Regina for Guns n’ Roses, some who were just here for the summer break for university.

Tuesday night I was off to a metal show.  Saw ‘The Agonist’ from Montreal, Quebec.  Female fronted band with 5 albums to their name.  Not very many people there since it was a Tuesday.  Thanks to my younger but bigger brother for taking me.

Wednesday we went to have coffee & lunch with my mom.  They also had a few of my movies they were done with.

Thursday I slept in, like really slept in.  By the time I had showered & got dressed it was just after 11:00 am.  Mostly a free day here.  Hello couch!  I was flipping around the channels & saw that “Much Retro” was on, saw these two fossil fuel 1980s hits & changed the channel.  Too much retro, too retro.

Friday we went out for lunch & went to the mall, (I needed new undies, and no I did not poop in any of my retired undies).  Looked at some other stores.  Long time since I had been in an album store!  Tons of vinyl & ridiculously cheap CDs.  If I knew how to transfer vinyl to digital for my iPod & had room/money for a vinyl collection, I’d seriously consider buying vinyl albums.  The day ended doing a few things around the house, then to the couch.  Watched a bit of stuff on our DVR and flipped to the Blue Jays game, which I thought would be a blow out in favour of Baltimore.  Only 1 run in 13 innings for Baltimore who won the game 1-0.  The Blue Jays aren’t mathematically out of a playoff spot, but anyone watching the games or even score board watching knows they’re out of it.  Unless they win the final 27 games of the season (from September 2nd on) & rely on other teams to lose 10 games or more.

Saturday afternoon we went to Sherry & James’.  Our friend Gerry was in town.  He lives in Saskatoon & worked in the same office as Sherry.  He’s originally from Labrador & yes, he has the Newfoundland accent.

Sunday was the Labour Day classic in Regina.  Saskatchewan Roughriders vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers.  Next week the Roughriders are Winnipeg for the “Banjo Bowl”.  Riders won the Labour Day classic, & I think they have a good shot at winning the banjo bowl as well.  Nolan had a great way of looking at it.  The Riders have been winning the last 3 games by a large margin, Winnipeg has been winning by a few points.  We’ll see what happens I guess.

I have a very strange sunburn from the game.  Left arm, left side of each leg, & a V-neck burn from my jersey, mostly on the left side of my neck.  Why is this an odd burn?  The sun was right in front of us, & I had 2 people to my left.

Here it is, Labour Day Monday.  Kim’s doing laundry, I’ll be making a juice for the week, etc.  Like the end of most weekends, we’re just getting ready for the 4 day week ahead.

IF YOU’RE HERE FOR THE UPDATE, THAT’S ALL THAT I HAVE FOR YOU TODAY.

Since the Guns n’ Roses show was here on Sunday, August 27th, I highly recommend “Diemonds” to any & all GNR fans.  I’m not a GNR fan & even I like “Diemonds”

As of Tuesday, I’ve listened to Queens of the Stone Age too many times (20) since late Thursday night!

Go to 1:30 and the song should start in a few seconds.  All you’re missing is a long opening of echoes & reverb

I never shared any videos since they were all silent videos at the time.  Prince didn’t want to have his music free on the internet.  I don’t listen to him all of the time, but I’ll listen to him 4 or 5 times a year.

I’m still listening to Queens of the Stone Age, just not as much.

New Foo Fighters September 15th.  9 minute interview with the band.

I fell asleep to “The Watchmen” the album “Live & in Stereo”

I exercised to “Royal Blood” the brand new album “When did we get so dark?”

Yay it’s Friday & I’ve been waiting for it!  Sure I’m at home all day, but I exercise, take care of Brewster, have breakfast, watch minimal TV, shower, have lunch, write portions of this blog, practice guitar, & then I’ll hit the couch & listen to some music.  Then it’s 3:00 pm or so unless the dishwasher or hand washed dishes need to be tended to, or I need more fruit & veggie juice or I need to clean up something.  I’m usually out of bed by 8:30 am at the latest, I tend to go to bed around 11:00 pm.  Once I’m up it’s go, go, go, until everything I wanted to accomplish is done.

500 leg lifts, 200 pushups, 5 minutes of planking, yoga, 500 crunches & 100 back flexes this past week.

That’s 100 leg lifts, 40 pushups, 20 back flexes, 25 minutes of planking, 100 crunches & yoga 5 days a week.  First thing I do when I leave the bedroom, then breakfast & a shower.

Yes, those are my current goals.  I think they’ll stay at that limit for quite a while.  You know me though, I’ll likely push to raise some of the numbers sooner.

I used to be a decent swimmer.  I never took swimming lessons as a child.  My dad grew up playing water polo & swimming in the morning before class at the University.  He taught me how to swim.  My grandparents’ old condo had a swimming pool.  He taught me there & in the summer at the lake/cabin. My grandparents’ owned, built by my great grandfather.  I used to swim with no problems at all.  Now I wouldn’t get into a pool or lake without a life jacket on.

If you’re here strictly for the cancer news, that’s all I have for you today.

Royal Blood’s Facebook page

“Pleased to announce we’ll be supporting Queens of the Stone Age in North America in September/October. Tickets on sale 22nd June.”

Only Canadian date is in Toronto in October.  I guess technically that makes it a North American tour.  Toronto, just over a 2 day drive away from Saskatchewan.  Musically, I should move to Toronto or Europe.  Many North American tours are 20+ shows in America w/ 3 Canadian dates, Montreal, Toronto, B.C., & sometimes Calgary depending on the popularity of the artist(s).  Although Tool, Elton John, Ozzy Osbourne, Garth Brooks, Dixie Chicks, Blue Rodeo, Foo Fighters, In Flames, Trivium, Lamb of God, Megadeth etc.  Have at least played Saskatoon and a few of those have made their way to Regina.

TONS of great music for me being released this year.  I adore the new Big Wreck album. But the Paramore album “After Laughter” is on heavy rotation on our stereo & my iPod.  It’s much more of a pop album than previous albums that were the typical pop/punk/distorted guitars.

Just checked the ol’ iPod for counts of play on it!

30 times listening to Big Wreck’s ‘Grace Street’ & Paramore’s ‘After Laughter’

12 times for The Watchmen’s ‘Live & in Stereo’

The odd thing is I listen to our stereo more than my iPod!  I think I have a problem?

I’d sing & play these 2 songs at the band practices with my brother’s group!  He really doesn’t like these songs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve listened to the new Royal Blood album a few times this morning & WOW, no sophomore slump in sight.  I’d say it’s even better than their first album & it’s phenomenal also.

I went to a friend’s house last night to see his new place.  Pretty sweet place.  His condo looks great, could be that I haven’t scratched up, or demolished his walls with my wheelchair….yet!

I had 2 glasses of cranberry juice & sprite last night.  Bad idea!  I lost track of how many times I had to pee, I listen to portions of many albums!

Being physically handicapped means nothing to me.  At this point, it’s normal to me.  It’s been that way for a while now.  I know some of my limitations & I know some of the stuff I can do.  Not necessarily limited completely.  My brother & his girlfriend live in a building with no elevator.  They live on the top floor/the 3rd floor.  It takes me a while, but I can get up there.  I think I’ve been there 3 or 4 times.  Rachel knows the deal when I get up there.  I’m greeted with a beer & a dill pickle.  That’s my welcoming gift.

I don’t really feel self-conscious in public anymore either.  If someone sees me & has a question, that’s fine by me.  I’ve never had someone ask me anything but if they want to, there’s no such thing as a stupid question.

Industrial rock/metal is not my thing.  I don’t know a thing about.  Here’s www.loudwire.com take on it though.

I bought these 2 CDs way back when & out of these 2 CDs I only liked the singles and I don’t listen to either album.

I didn’t buy this, but I know a lot of people that really like(d) it.

Seeing “Queen” was a once in a lifetime experience.  Of course we all wanted Freddie Mercury there!  Adam Lambert was classy, hit the notes & in no way tried to steal anybody’s thunder, especially Freddie Mercury’s.
