Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Should I be worried that I take the same black & pink pills for heart burn that “Butt Drugs” carries?  Should I take them anally?

Friday was me watching most of the Toronto Blue Jays game.  Kim thinks she’s catching a cold.  Friday she grabbed some medication & went to bed at 8:30 pm I think it was.

Saturday was more of the same.  Woke up, had breakfast.  Kim put in a load of laundry, then she & Brewster had a nap on the couch.  She woke up about an hour or more before the Blue Jay game came on, & went to bed after a Tim Hortons run for soup.

We finished Saturday watching a documentary on Netflix!

This is our lives in our late 30s.

Kim is still sick today.  Brewster was freaked last night.  He jumped off of the bed many times & whined until Kim helped up each time.  He can’t get on our bed without help, he’s vertically challenged!

I guess the power went out, so the smoke detectors were beeping, which he hates.  They beeped again when the power came back on.

I had a weird dream.  I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to go to work or university.  I was late & couldn’t find my calculus text book?  I rode my motorcycle to work & couldn’t find anybody to let me know what needed to be done?

I have never owned or had a desire to ride a motorcycle & a calculus text book is not needed for running a printing press?

Maybe order groceries & get ready for the week, as usual.  FYI I found more T-Shirts that fit!

My music over the weekend “Dead Sara”, “Foo Fighters”, “Queens of the Stone Age”, “Myles Kennedy”, “Into Eternity”, “Third Ion” & “Megadeth”

BIG WRECK

Original line up dropped out of ‘The Berkley School of Music’ to form Big Wreck & released their debut album in 1997.  3 Americans & 1 Canadian, voted to be the singer by band members.  They released their 2nd album in 2001 & broke up the following year.  During this time singer, Ian Thornley, started another group called “Thornley”.  Different label also.  2 albums were released by the group.  Big Wreck reformed with different band members on drums & bass, & original 2nd guitarist.  Big Wreck released their 3rd album in 2012.  I was still in my rehabilitation center, but there was no way I was missing their show in Regina that year.

In total ‘Big Wreck’ has 5 studio releases & a live EP with a studio cover of ‘The Cars’.

I consider myself a metal fan, well some metal.  As you might know by now, there are other genres I like.  I am a pretty loyal fan of whatever group I’m listening to in most cases.  If I really like them, I’m always willing to listen to or purchase their entire catalogue when possible.  I’m on a monthly iTunes allowance.  Now I know who’s worth $9.99, which helps quite a bit!

From what I’ve seen online, people HATE this album with a passion.  Were you expecting “Mer de Noms” part 2?  Different strokes for different folks.  I REALLY like this album!

I fell asleep to “The Damned Things” the album “Ironiclast”

I exercised to “INXS’” Greatest Hits

Yes, I was in both.  I started University in September of 1998.  I took a year of Engineering, 2nd semester (January of 1999) was for me try & pass the classes I failed terribly, that didn’t happen for me though.  I really had no clue as to what I wanted to do.  I took one more semester starting in September of 1999.  I took random classes to see if something peaked my interest.  Nothing!

I worked at the Delta hotel from 1996 I think all the way through to the first 4 or 5 months of 2001.  My boss at the Delta was very accommodating with my schedule for school.  When I dropped out of university I worked full time, mostly at 5:00 or 6:00 am.  In the summer of 2001 I got a job at The Staples call center.  I had already been accepted to start SIAST in September of 2001.  I worked full time for that summer, then dropped my working hours to part time hours, I think I dropped them to 10 or 15 hours a week?  I know at one point, once I was in SIAST, they wanted part time workers to work a minimum of 20 hours a week.  I couldn’t do that so I quit to focus on school.  Corey McDonald started SIAST in December of 2001.

We bonded very fast for our mutual passion for chicken wings, beer, & guitar/music.  He really got me into heavier music.  I think once he started SIAST there were 5 guys in my class of 30 or so?  Kim was in that class & Corey’s wife Jolene was in that class as well.  Corey & Jolene started dating in late February of 2002.  Kim & I started dating about a week into April of 2002.  I got my first guitar for my birthday in January of 2001.  I was already singing with Dave, Rob, & Rydell in our band in University.

SOUNDGARDEN & PANTERA

University, SIAST, & later on in high school were my years to discover the music I liked & wanted to hear.  Even now, I’m discovering new bands.  Being in a band was always a great way to discover other bands from different places!  Like the group “Flatlined” from Ontario.  Nobody would have a clue who they were other than friends & fans of the last group I was in with my brother.  They were touring Canada & when they came to Regina we’d always play a show with them!

Unfortunately they have parted ways.  They were great though & there’s a good chance that whoever is reading this, 95% of you have never heard of them.

I had a CD holder that held 40 discs, wherever I went, it came with me.  Corey noticed I had “Superunknown” by his favourite band “Soundgarden” & “Pantera’s” Greatest Hits album.  He had 5 or 6 Pantera CDs he lent me & also lent me “Badmotorfinger” by Soundgarden.  I rushed out after listening to each CD once to buy my own copy of these albums.  I really liked them!

“Badmotorfinger” is my go to album when I listen to Soundgarden.  I listen to the 3 after this album just haven’t bothered to listen to the 2 before it.  I even own 1 of them on CD.  Here are the 3 CDs & 1 iTunes album I listen to & own by Soundgarden.

NOW IT’S TIME FOR SOME PANTERA!

Pantera’s guitar player was shot & killed in 2004, on stage in a club after Pantera had broken up.  His brother was the drummer for Pantera & the group “Hell Yeah” that he was playing with at the time.  I think that’s the name of the group?

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Megadeth” the album “Endgame”

Not much happening here Friday evening.  TONS of snow though, highways & the ring road are shut down.  I was going to attend a funeral Saturday morning but getting my wheelchair through all of the snow would have been impossible.  We watched some Netflix & stayed indoors.

Saturday was a stay inside day too.  Just a TON of snow & I hear there are major ruts in the roads.  Sounded like a day of TV, youtube, & “Pitch Perfect 3” on blu-ray.

AWESOME & HILARIOUS movie, I REALLY like all 3 of them!  I still haven’t seen “Black Panther” though.

I continue to become more of a “Metallica” fan.  To say that Metallica is uncharted territory for me is an overstatement!  This album is my most recent addition.  If I was to get another Metallica album it might be “Ride the Lightning”?

I now have 8 studio albums on my iTunes by Metallica.  “Hardwired…..to Self-Destruct” is still my preferred album of theirs but that may change, the further I go into the dark side?

Today we are getting ready for the 4 day week ahead.  I’m thinking I’ll post just this blog & Thursday’s post as my “WEEKLY EXERCISE TOTAL”.  No need for a Wednesday post this week.

I want to act like a parent & treat certain things like a young child “NO!  No more technology until you fix the stuff that’s broken”.  “America, were taking all of your guns away.  When you learn to play nice we might give them back with tighter rules”.  If another person doesn’t have a gun, why does another civilian NEED one?  If you’re not an officer of the law or part of the military, you only need a gun for hunting if you’re into that.  A rifle that can hold one bullet at a time.

TECHNOLOGY

I wasted almost an entire day trying to make stuff work, apps & such.  Yeah, I’m slowly dipping my toe in the water of technology.  The further I go, the less I can use the way I want to.  When it works, it is FANTASTIC, when it doesn’t it is HORRIBLE & FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You don’t need every new piece of technology that comes out, you’re convinced by commercials that you NEED it.  With that being said, you & I are at the mercy of technology or communication companies like Access, Shaw, Sasktel, Bell, Rogers, etc.

We already have desktop computers, laptops, tablets, iPads, iPad minis, iPods, HD TVs, super slow motion replays, etc.  We don’t need this stuff.  I was born in 1980.  Didn’t have any of these things aka I can survive without them.  Yeah, some of that stuff I have.  A desktop computer, an iPod classic that still works & 2 HDTVs, both with a PVR in HD.  I’m good with where were at with everything.  How about fixing the technology we have, before creating more of a mess?  All of this stuff is optional, you can buy it or leave it be.  Totally up to the individual.  Example; I choose not to own any type of mobile device, maybe that bothers people.  If I’m out or doing something I’m sorry I don’t have time to discuss something with you.  This is all stuff you WANT but don’t NEED!

I don’t like seat warmers in a car, if it’s on, I turn it off.  I didn’t need it before & I don’t need it now.

Why did I ever learn to read, there’s almost an emoji for EVERYTHING.  Now there are drones & robots.  Wait, I’ve heard this story before……….Trump is president & there are robots which means the human race could possibly be wiped out?  Hahahahaha!

By the way I did NOT search for any of the videos on this topic.  They were just on my opening page of www.youtube.com

Steve Jobs is severely missed!  Apple is, unfortunately, going downhill fast.  “Ah, I need the same gadget as everyone else has.”  Who told you that?

I can’t say I’m a fan of Apple products or their software, their customer service is REALLY good though.  I’ve never had a customer service person call me to give me an update just to say “…the engineers are working on the issue at the moment….”  Yes, I get my music from iTunes & I still have a working iPod classic from late 2011 or early 2012.  Some musicians I’ve talked with are getting a large amount of the money spent on iTunes.  Must be something they’ve put in their contract with the label?  How about, “JUST MAKE STUFF WORK ALL OF THE TIME PLEASE.”

Even better how about developing a cheap way to get clean drinking water, food & shelter to those who need it?

I REALLY enjoyed “Justice League”, but I’m not the same as everyone else.  Fair enough.  If you’re on the fence, watch it & form your own opinion!  I didn’t care for either “Guardians of the Galaxy” movies, but a lot of people did.

I fell asleep to “Megadeth” the album “Dystopia”, “Megadeth” the album “Peace Sells….but Who’s Buying?” & finally “Pearl Jam” the album “Yield”

I exercised to “Pink” the album “Beautiful Trauma”

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After 2 days of being struck with a head cold & a weekend, my exercises were very difficult on Monday.  Tuesday evening we look at Brewster’s teeth, the little furry guy needs a cleaning & perhaps a few teeth removed, we’ll find out the price tonight!  The Finger Eleven & I Mother Earth concert looks as though it’s very unattainable now.  It may cost less than Brewster’s teeth, as Kim pointed out. It’s one of the 2 cheaper concerts of the 4.  Brewster & Kim are priority number 1 in this house!  I didn’t sleep well last night, I was stressing pretty hard, more worried about Brewster than anything.

I tried to watch the Super Bowl, sounded like an entertaining game.  4 hours of football is just too much for me.  I recorded it to see/hear Pink do the national anthem & Justin Timberlake at half time.  Even if the Canadian Football League goes into over time I get antsy.

Look this up on your channel guide, CFL scheduled for 3 hours, Major League Baseball scheduled for 3 hours, NFL scheduled for 4 hours!  Curling, golf, hockey, basketball, NASCAR, Indy car, etc.  I don’t watch those sports.  I watch the Toronto Blue Jays & the Canadian Football League.  I can’t watch 4 hours of football, however a 6 hour baseball game I can manage that no problem.

I know it’s odd, so here’s why.  With every single batter, each fielder has to think ahead as to what or where they are going to be with each pitch.  It’s a reaction sport.  Is the batter going to bunt, hit for contact, swing for the fence, how many outs are there, what base(s) have runners, where do I need to be if it’s hit towards these areas, etc.

I don’t know much about other sports, since I didn’t play them but I think along with the players when I watch baseball.  That may be a good reason as to why so many people get so bored?  I understand where they’re coming from.

The actual game I recorded to watch the musical performances.  I was also recording the movie “Lucy”.  It was on TV.  After being told it was terrible by friends of mine, I figured, “It’s free & there’s really nothing else on but the Super Bowl”.  I didn’t love the movie, & I didn’t hate the movie.  I thought it was OK.  I don’t need to watch it again.  Decent movie to rent though.  Another science fiction movie, leave logic at the door!

I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “Concrete & Gold”

I don’t get to listen to music much at the moment, something is off with my iTunes & our universal remote is loopy at the moment.  Possibly Friday all should be normal, well the remote more than likely.  The guy helping me at Apple has been really good, above & beyond a regular customer service person.

Very short week of exercise for me!  Honestly, I could use it.  A full week seems to make me very tired.  On weekends, lately, I tend to sleep in longer, like as long as I did as a teenager.  11:00 am is quite normal for me on weekends.  I really don’t like that, it feels like I’ve wasted the day!  During the week I like getting up around 7:00 am & getting stuff done.  Lately I get up early & feel very sluggish.  I don’t know if it’s because I’ll be 38 in January or that I need a break?  We really don’t know how to relax.  We’re both tired from each of us having very different days doing very different things than the other.  I have no plan in relaxing until the break between Christmas & New Year.  I just hope I can make it that far.

Anyways, Monday was a holiday & Kim has Friday off, I’ll be off as well!  3 day week for me.  If you haven’t subscribed you may want to do so before the posts becomes a very random, instead of the typical Monday, Wednesday, & Friday.  Facebook seems to slow down from December-January.  I’ll be doing a blog post on Friday though.

Yesterday after my exercise, I was awake………………barely.  I felt…

Today was much better!

THAT’S ALL FOR WHAT’S ON MY MIND & CANCER TALK!  HERE COMES THE POPCULTURE STUFF!

Remember please that these have all been my most precious albums that have influenced me.  I enjoy metal music, some of it, I could never play it or growl.  I played & sang rock music.  After I got into metal, I started dating Kim in 2002.  Her brother-in-law was a metal fan & we’d suggest metal & rock bands to each other.  Then my brother started listening to some metal.  These are all from the first albums I heard by these groups or purchased/borrowed.  So here’s a few bands I’ve found out about through our grape vine which includes Corey McDonald…

I know Mitch & Corey aren’t into all of this anymore, I couldn’t tell you about James though?

I discovered more on my own that James was in to, & left me to discover it on my own.

Before all of this we all got in to “System of a Down” on our own.  I really didn’t like them at first.

No, I don’t just listen to metal music.  I have some Harry Connick Jr, Nat King Cole, Norah Jones, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Genesis, etc.  My first 2 CDs as a kid were….

The actual Bryan Adams album “Waking up the Neighbours”

Truth be told, I would have liked to avoid my computron this week entirely!  That could be my biggest reason for not having a cell phone.  Holy sensory overload Batman!

I fell asleep to “Dream Theater” the album “Black Clouds & Silver Linings”

I exercised to “Alice Cooper” the new album “Paranormal”

Some stuff to do around the house & it feels like an “I Mother Earth” day, the album “Blue, Green, Orange”

Exercise total this week, a 4 day week; 400 crunches, 400 leg lifts, 295 pushups, 160 back flexes, & 20 minutes of planking!  Every day starts with me exercising, no shower, dressed in workout attire, & no breakfast.

I was playing with the pushup number, 75 is probably an achievable number per day.

Well I’m alive, cancer didn’t win.  Let’s get things straight.  I did nothing to sway the outcome of this cancer garbage.  My body, nurses, doctors, & Kim were not giving up on me!  I was in a coma for a month, then slept 23 hours a day until early 2009.  Waking up only for pain killers & randomly awake for very light physio.

When I moved to the WRC, I wasn’t in the know as to what was ahead for me or why I couldn’t continue my therapy at the hospital?  I do remember, while sleeping at the hospital in 2008, asking Kim in a dream if she could take over, because I needed a break.

The day I passed out at work was Tuesday, February 5th 2008.  6 days after my 28th birthday & I’m pretty sure I gave myself the worst birthday present ever!  BAZINGA!

I blacked out completely after Kim came into the Ambulance in the parking lot at my work.  I do remember a doctor checking my reflexes by pushing a pen cap on my fingernails to see if I’d pull my hand back from the pain.  I did & had some nasty thoughts about smacking the doctor upside of their head it hurt so much!  Other than that, I was out for a year or a little bit more.  Great company for Kim, her sister was with her for a lot of it………………I think?

I have a job, to make myself better!  I hate spending too much time on the computer.  Doing this blog 3 times a week is much better for me & likely for you as well!  Don’t think that I do nothing all day.  I exercise for 1.5 – 2 hours first thing in the morning, have breakfast, shower, usually tend to the dishwasher or whatever needs to be done around here, lunch is in there somewhere, I write portions of the next blog post, finish up whatever chore I have to do & hit the couch by 2:00 pm or 3:00 pm.  Somethings take a bit longer for me to do, & somethings I can do just like I used to.  If it’s a new task or in a different environment, I’ll need some time to figure out if I can do it or if I’ll need help.

THAT’S ALL FOR THE CANCER TALK FOR NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For most Americans, this was Barenaked Ladies 1st album, it’s actually their 5th album.  Their debut full length album was “Gordon”.  My first concert at the age of 12!

5th album, released in 1998

1st full length album released in July of 1992.  The artwork was different when I bought the CD!  A few weeks more than 25 years ago!

13 years ago Alter Bridge released their first album “One Day Remains” & Donnie wasn’t president.  A much simpler time!

I have this 3 CD bundle on the way from Alter Bridge in September B-Side, rarities, & a live album as well.  Not on iTunes, but the actual CDs.  There is a package with a documentary DVD but I have the 10th anniversary box set with numerous long interviews from each band member.

China is making a replica of the Titanic.  I hope this one floats when it hits an ice berg!

Metal fans, Canada has something to bring to the party!

http://loudwire.com/best-canadian-metal-bands/

I’ll add 3 to that list!  “The Agonist” from Quebec, “Into Eternity” of Regina, & “Third Ion” from Regina.  All touring bands.  Into Eternity has played alongside big name metal acts such as “Megadeth” & “Dream Theater”

OK, I’m more than ready for the new Queens of the Stone Age album on August 25th!

1st single

I’m surprised America still has allies?  Donnie has pretty much any discounted &/or shamed every country possible.

You had to know this type of thing would happen with Donnie as president.  WWIII was easily a possibility with him leading America.  Does he have an off switch?

I’m not ending this with news about Donnie.  How about Helium infused beer!

I’ve shared this & tagged many people on social media!  Many more could easily be added though.  I’ll find this beer one day!

Kim just doesn’t get the credit that she deserves!  Sure I can do stuff on my own, but without Kim, I likely wouldn’t be alive today.  All through the cancer crap that went on, she was right there with me 24/7 for 4.5 years.  She told my parents “He’s not going to die.”  Why did she say that?  She wasn’t going to let me die!

We don’t have kids, A) We can’t afford to have a kid.  B)  I’m not confident I’d be a good father.  C)  I’m a dependent already.  I can’t drive to the drug store for my refills or cold medication.  I love Kim.  She’s the one that does stuff to help me when needed.  I try not to take her for granted, but at times it may seem like I do.

I know it’s a cliché to say “She’s been through thick & thin with me”, but it’s true.  All of the cancer stuff aside, she’s AWESOME!  I couldn’t love her more!  If she wasn’t so shy, I’d love to introduce her to the world!!

Friday finished with Kim & I just watching some Netflix.  Saturday the Toronto Blue Jays won against a ridiculously good team in the Houston Astros, the Saskatchewan Roughriders also won their first game of the season here against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.  The Riders are now 1W-2L.

Today is looking quite relaxing.  My cold is almost gone.  I’ll be watching the Blue Jays game, which has already started (I record them all just in case this situation arises).  Then we’ll get ready for the week!

IF YOU’RE HERE FOR THE UPDATE, THAT’S ALL THAT I HAVE FOR YOU TODAY.

I see a TON of video blogs on www.youtube.com that are titled “Top 10 reasons people hate _____________”  Hating a band would take a lot of energy that could be focused on something positive.  One reason to not like a band is that they’re not what you want to hear.  “…..Simple as that……”  One reason only, the only reason needed.

I was listening to the latest ‘Megadeth’ album “Dystopia”.  I found it much better than I had initially thought.  Pretty good album I’d have to say.

I find this oddly convenient since it happened at the same time “Nickelback” & “Stone Sour” were both releasing an album.  “Nickelback” on June 16th & “Stone Sour” on June 30th.  I think the trash talking was reported right around “Nickelback’s” release?

Starting Pitchers for MLB teams are having blister injuries on their throwing hand.  The baseballs this year are travelling on average 7 feet further when hit.  The reason for this is that the baseballs are much harder & the stitching on them is noticeably lower.  The stitching being lower will cause pitchers to put more pressure on the stitching to make the ball spin the proper way.  So many pitchers around the league are experiencing a blister issue for the first time in their life.  I would hope the commissioner of MLB will rectify the issue for next year or they may have to resort to a pitching machine?

I have no albums preordered for the month of July.  Actually nothing until August 25th when Queens of the Stone Age release their album.  I do plan to see the Spider-man Homecoming movie though!
