Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

250 Curls

50 Shoulder raises/Chest presses

600 Crunches

450 Leg lifts

300 Squats while balancing on my toes.  That’s harder than I anticipated!  Yeah I fell today.

300 Back flexes

1 day walking distance: 28.5 meters = 93.503 feet

8 stairs down 2 times, up 2 times

Always 2 days of yoga

I fell asleep to “Megadeth” the album “Risk” & “Rust in Peace”

I exercised to “Foo Fighters” the album “The Colour and The Shape”

Here’s the Canadian Red Cross website if you’d prefer to donate there for my birthday.  Donate whatever amount you like whenever you like please?

https://www.redcross.ca/

I could ask for donations to the Canadian Cancer Society that our team of 10 people raised $75,000 over 3 years for, while I was in the hospital.  I’m asking for Red Cross donations since they’ll help with more than just cancer.  I can’t ask for donations to 15 different organizations.  I figured I’ll try to cover as much as I can with one organization?

I’ve decided this is the year that will make or break me.  This will be the defining year where I’ll know if I’ll walk on my own eventually or if I’ll be bound to a walker.  That’s what it feels like anyways.  Pedal to the metal this year.  If you thought I was focused before, it’s going to get fierce.  Instead of 1 day of stairs & walking I’d like to make it 2 days of each a week.

All of that being said ‘all work & no play makes me a dull boy’.  Once my exercise is done for the day, I try to relax, practice some guitar, then try to unwind if the house is in good shape, which it usually is.  Turning 40 in a couple of weeks is something I’m looking forward to.

I can go up & down stairs, I can walk with a chest high walker, an ankle foot orthotic, & of course someone to assist or correct/instruct me.  This part is a matter of stamina.  It was probably in the late summer-spring of 2012 to 2013 that I was walking 800 meters, twice a week, on an indoor track with Kim & my walker.  I’ve gotten lazy & barely walked last year.  We started doing some stairs & walking earlier this week.

I plan to do more stairs & walking.  This has nothing to do with weight loss, I’ve gotten VERY thin.  It’s more about stamina, strength, & quality.  I wish I had started this healthy eating & some exercise 20 years ago, instead I discovered the goodness of beer back then?!?!

After a little more than 2 weeks into the year doing my exercises, I can see & feel a FANTASTIC difference!  I do like to relax….on the weekends.  Finally things are coming together at a decent pace for me after the cancer situation.  I may not be walking on my own yet but I feel more confident & determined than ever!

I’m pretty sure I was a bad “uncle” this morning.  I didn’t feel like exercising right away.  I had a coffee while I finished a Disney Princess’ puzzle.  I’m pretty sure I’ll get a stern talking to from our “niece” and “auntie” Kim………………..unless I undo what I did?

My mid-life crisis PRS guitar has a down payment & is ordered as of Wednesday!  YAY!!!!!  This guitar in the McCarty Sunburst finish.  It’ll be here in 3 months.  The factory starts production on this year’s model on Monday or Tuesday.  I’ve never purchased an electric guitar.  The 3 I have were all gifts & the autographed Fender, by Ian Thornley of “Big Wreck”, I don’t play it as much, and the neck on it just doesn’t feel comfortable.  I’ve heard many people say that.  Of course I’ll play the heck out of this PRS guitar, I can already see it as my main guitar.

Mr. Paul Reed Smith founder of PRS guitars.

On a typical week day I’m found exercising in the morning & practicing/playing guitar in the afternoon.  Once I get a guitar in my hands, I don’t want to put it down.  I’m beyond excited for this to arrive!!!!!

When that gets here in April & is fully paid in April, I will continue to save cash for a trip to where ever Kim wants to go.  “Hello streaming music.  I still don’t like you but we’re in this for the long haul.”

The last live show I played was January 25th, 2008.  I basically haven’t touched a guitar since February 4th, 2008 until mid-September 2019.  Oddly enough after 3 brain surgeries, stage 4 brain cancer, & what’s called an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), I still remember a lot of stuff on guitar.  My left hand & arm are catching up now…..quickly to playing things in time.

The guitar stuff might seem stupid but it was a hobby of mine.  I’m getting part of my life back that disappeared for over a decade!  To me that’s ASTRONOMICAL!

Kim’s off to a great start at work this year too, so it’s not just me having a great start to the year.  She has a photo shoot at the end of the month.  She’s been taking more photos for the company as 2019 progressed.  She’s been working hard at it, putting in some extra time & she tells me this could mean big things for her if things go well!  Pretty proud of her, she’s been putting the time in.  Photography has become her personal time hobby also.  That’s why she’d drive me out to the middle of nowhere at sunset in the summer as I search for a “Criminal Minds” type of villain.

Kim’s driving & looking straight ahead, meanwhile my heads on a swivel looking for a shifty guy with a tire iron.  They always kill the male first, & I can’t walk let alone run.  Not a great scenario!  Kim knows karaté though, she’ll save me.

Pearl Jam are set to release new album “Gigaton” & tour in March 2020!!!

Clint Lowery is going to release his first solo album on Friday, January 31st, 2020

I fell asleep to “Queen” the album “A Day at the Races”

I exercised to “Black Sabbath” the album “Heaven & Hell”

I had a list of albums that I grabbed this year, & it disappeared.  These are the albums of the year that stuck with me & are VERY memorable for me.  When I say “metal” do me a favour & don’t freak out about the vocals.  I don’t think I bought an album this year with ‘growling’ or ‘screaming’ on it.  A lot of metal vocalists are very well trained at their craft, even the ‘screamers’ out there.  It’s hard to do that.

I’m sure there were more albums that I bought, but these are the ones that caught my attention the most.

PLEASE REMEMBER THESE ARE JUST THE ALBUMS THAT I HEARD & LIKED.  FEEL FREE TO VOICE YOUR OPINION ON ANY MATTER HERE!

“Opeth” the album “In Cauda Venenum”

Yeah it’s a progressive rock/metal/soft-rock album from the Swedish group.

“P!nk” the album “Hurts 2B Human”

You know who she is more than likely.  I do like her previous release “Beautiful Trauma” a bit more, but there was nothing wrong with this one!

“Dream Theater” the album “Distance Over Time”

Progressive metal out of the USA, no this guy doesn’t growl or scream.  He’s a classically trained singer.  Usually someone says “metal” and everyone else freaks out about the vocals being scary.

“Alter Bridge” the album “Walk the Sky”

Based in Florida.  6th album & living in Western Canada, I’ll never see them live.  I think they’ve done the Montreal & Toronto tour twice since 2004.

“I Built the Sky” the album “The Zenith Rise”

Instrumental metal that REALLY shocked me, in a good way.  I’ve never heard anything like it and this is their 5th release.  I’ve got this album & I’d like to get 2 other albums by them.

“TOOL” the album “Fear Inoculum”

The only reason this wasn’t my favourite album of the year was that it’s just SO long.  “TOOL” is a band that you listen to & focus on nothing else, like most music is meant to be heard.  There are so many layers to this album & 6/10 songs are well over the 10 minute mark.  I’ve only had time to focus on it once.  It’s not an album full of singles either, it’s an album.  “Fear Inoculum” is roughly 7 minutes longer than their 1999 album “Lateralus”.  The difference is that “Lateralus” has 13 songs opposed to 10 on “Fear Inoculum”.  I can listen to 7 songs on “Lateralus”, come back later & listen to the rest.  I don’t like doing that with “Fear Inoculum”, I want to listen to it from start to finish with no separation.  I don’t have 1 ½ hours to focus on an album every week?

“In Flames” the album “I, The Mask”

Another Swedish metal band.  If you want to call these vocals “screamy” go ahead.  They’re called a “Swedish melodic death metal band” emphasis on the ‘melodic’ portion though.  He sings with an odd tone.

“Big Wreck” the album “…but for the sun”

I thought this was just my favourite “Big Wreck” album, turns out it’s one of my favourite albums of all time by a Canadian band not well known outside of Canada.  They’re a rock band & if you’ve never turned on a rock radio station in Canada or if you’ve lived under a rock since the late 1990s, you’ve never heard of them.

Honourable mentions. Billie Eilish’s “When we all fall asleep, where do we go?”, “Of Monsters & Men” the album “Fever Dream”, Mark Morton “Anesthetic”, & “Jimmy Eat World” the album “Surviving”.

As for future out of province concerts, I’m going to scale that WAY back.  Too much money I don’t have.  There had better be a show in Calgary, Alberta or Winnipeg, Manitoba & no more than 2 out of province shows a year, if that.  Hopefully there are more shows here in Regina or 2 ½ hours away in Saskatoon.  I’ll go to Moose Jaw (45 minutes away) if they ever get an act that intrigues me.

“Paramore” news…

YAY!

What else to expect in 2020?  Chevelle, Lamb of God, Megadeth, The Pretty Reckless, Stone Temple Pilots, Into Eternity, Third Ion, Foo Fighters, Evanescence, Testament, Trivium, and more?  Most of these are rumored releases.

HOLY SMOKES!!!!  “Stone Temple Pilots” already have a preorder for their acoustic album “Perdida” for full release on February 7th.

25th anniversary for “Foo Fighters” & from the looks of their Facebook page they’re recording or might have already?

Gave my guitars a good workout yesterday.  After 3 ½ months of 45 minutes to 3 hours a day, 5-6 days a week I’m pretty much back to where I was on guitar when I got sick.  6 Foo Fighters songs down, added in parts I’ve never attempted, very close on 2 Metallica songs, a few other simple songs down, new chords, a handful of other riffs too.  All rhythm & hooks, I’ve never played guitar solos.  Feels so gratifying!!!!!!!  I forgot how much I missed it!  You have no idea how happy I am with this!!!!!!  I was so happy I almost broke down with tears of joy!!!  Just a few seconds behind the real tempo but just a little more polishing to do.

I’ll figure out how to put some videos on here.  Something you should know first though.  I LOATHE photos, videos, and audio recordings of myself.  Take the amount you don’t like them of yourself and multiply that by 100,000,000,000 and you’ll be almost where I am.  It probably won’t happen often, especially since I don’t own a phone or any type of camera.

Well, exercise is done for the day so that means perfecting a few songs on the guitar until… “Star Wars” Episode 9 tonight with my pop!  He got me into this mess with VHS, now I’m getting us out of this mess at the theater!

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I’m not counting Monday since it was more unpacking & getting settled at home as well as just playing my guitars.

4 day exercise total; 600 leg lifts, 800 crunches, 200 squats, 200 back flexes, 130 pushups, 750 curls (10 pounds), 550 tricep extensions (7 pounds), 400 shoulder raises (7 pounds).  Stretching & yoga.

I fell asleep to “Billy Joel” his double album of Greatest Hits, followed by “Elton John” another Greatest Hits album.

I exercised to “The Agonist” the new album “Orphans”

I’ve made a conscious decision to change my habits in general for the better.  I plan to almost stop drinking, sell the clutter of stuff I have but don’t use, & make an effort to just feel better in general.  I’ll still drink alcohol socially, just not a little bit every weekend.  I’ll just continue to drink more water (which I put a bit of apple cider vinegar in now), eat more fruit & vegetables rather than red meat, I’ll just be EXTREMELY conscious of what I put into my body.  I’m relatively healthy when it comes to food & beverages, now I plan to kick it up a notch or 2.

All of this aside, I’ve decided I’m done having season tickets to the Saskatchewan Roughrider home games, a luxury we don’t need, save some cash for more important things.  I think I’m done going to the family cabin also, just too much work since it isn’t wheelchair accessible at all.  These 2 things are being done with a heavy heart.  I figure, I’ll be 40 years old in January & it’s time to grow up.  All part of being a better husband, father to our dog, & a better individual.  If I’m better, maybe others will follow?  Everybody I know is a VERY good person, but there’s always someone doing better than someone else.

I worry about too many things, mostly money!  Don’t have much of it, so I worry about it, every night.  Before cancer & more now that we’re a one income household.  I bring in my Canadian pension & disability, but that’s below the poverty line.  Kim works but she’s on contract.  If she’s not there she doesn’t get paid, sick or on vacation & she bought a benefits package.

Someone told me I was dealt a bad hand.  I looked at it that way & I was bitter for longer than I needed to be.  Then I realized that no one can make you happy other than yourself.  I now understand what this means…

What does this tell me?  I can lead a horse to water but I can’t make it drink the water.

I’m happy in general, but I can do better.  I worry about everything WAY TOO MUCH!!!!!!  No wonder I toss & turn so much for hours before I fall asleep.

Another reason for all of this change is that, my physio & occupational therapists told me they wanted to make me perfect.  Nobody’s perfect but I intend to try ASAP.  That’s what it should say on my tombstone!  “I tried”.  Sorry, that was deep & intense.

Now I’m torn.  I do think the Matt Heafy Les Paul Custom Epiphone 7 string might still be the one.  Problem is A) I have a 6 string Les Paul knock off & similar pickups in an Epiphone Explorer.  B) I do not own a PRS, or any 7 string guitars, which mean more options for tuning.  I’m still leaning towards the Epiphone though.  I used to be a gear head, now I’m all about actual guitars.  I’m selling some of my gear at some seriously discounted prices, since most of it was purchased new in 2001!  These 2 would complete my guitar collection.  I play at home, not live like before.

https://www.long-mcquade.com/22227/Guitars/Electric_Guitars/Gibson/Matt_Heafy_Les_Paul_Custom_7_String_Electric_Guitar.htm

https://www.long-mcquade.com/100345/Guitars/Electric-Guitars/Paul-Reed-Smith/2018-SE-SVN—Seven—7-String-Electric-Guitar—Gray-Black.htm

I know I’ll have to save up & sell some other gear I don’t use.  I’m hoping that after Christmas & my birthday in January I’ll have a good chunk of the cash for likely the Matt Heafy Custom 7 string Epiphone Les Paul?  Matt Heafy is the singer from “Trivium”.

I now don’t think either of these are going to happen for me any time in the near future.  A few other more important & expensive priorities first.  Then MAYBE a guitar?

I feel like my old self, but maybe even better?  If someone needs help, I can at least listen.  If someone doesn’t want feedback, I’ll shut my yap.

New “In Flames” video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See the cost these musicians paid for these albums!  That’s why I’ll pay the small fee of $9.99 per album on iTunes or buy the odd CD.  I’m sure streaming multiple albums or songs a month isn’t hurting anyone, other than streaming site owners aka the new rich people!

https://www.kerrang.com/features/the-most-expensive-rock-and-metal-albums-of-all-time/?utm_campaign=loudwire&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&influencer=true&fbclid=IwAR0WUKF4VReNDaa9s6N7F2X9Psqmtzs16yGr6QalruKJ7l4PxJIbu7MsT-Q

Alter Bridge keeps themselves busy.  If you keep tabs on the band this is no surprise.

Good grief!  I’m still digesting “Fear Inoculum”!  Another Tool album would be great, but I’m also more than happy with their catalogue as it is.  I can hear something new with each listen!

YAY!!!  Dave Mustaine aka Megadeth

I agree with quite a bit of this!!!!  Lamb of God should be on here twice instead of once.  I LOVE the song “Laid to Rest”!

No album stuff today, I have much more to come.  I also have 3 releases to come this year.  Extreme metal album today, progressive metal next Friday & “Alter Bridge” on October 18th.

WEEKLY EXERCISE TOTAL/WHAT’S TO COME

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

5 day exercise total; 800 leg lifts, 750 crunches, 550 squats, 400 back flexes, 100 pushups, 800 curls (10 pounds on left arm & 7 pounds on right arm), 300 tricep lifts w/5 pound weight, 300 shoulder raises w/5 pound weight,  stretching, & yoga.

I fell asleep to “Pink” the album “Hurts 2B Human” followed by “Sum 41” the album “Order in Decline”, & finally “Megadeth” the album “The World Needs a Hero”

I exercised to “Green Day” the album “Nimrod”

I will now begin some house chores to “Foo Fighters” B-Sides

I did it, I made it!  Friday, I’ve been waiting for you, for what feels like a month.  I’m exhausted, but I reached & possibly exceeded my exercise goals.  Actually this morning & afternoon thing makes the day pass by REALLY fast, I’m exhausted by the end of the day, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing!  My arms feel like jello on Tuesdays & Thursdays now, in a good way though.

When people tell me to be careful with my exercises, I am.  If something starts to hurt, it’s a sign to stop & bring it down a notch next time.  I don’t want to end up with a bulging disc in my back again for the 14th time since 1997.  It comes & it goes as it pleases, stupid back.  It comes just long enough to mess with my week or a few days.  Lifting the paper into the printing press took it’s toll on my back a couple times, although I think it was only a couple of days the 2 times it happened?

The first time it went on me was grade 11 in 1997 right before lunch.  I twisted in my seat to borrow a pencil from the person behind me & POP went my back.  I drove home for lunch, laid on the kitchen floor, & asked my mother to call the school to let them know I wouldn’t be there in the afternoon.  I had to call work & tell them my back was hurting & that I couldn’t make it for my shift that night at the hotel.

I REALLY like “Tool” but having a few longer good songs is good enough for me.  One very long song for an entire album wouldn’t work for most people.  At least break it down into some movements.  I’m glad the rest of the group didn’t agree to this.

https://loudwire.com/danny-carey-tool-album-one-giant-song/?fbclid=IwAR3hgmvSdBaXyaok5efM5KA8m0Jj93Zn-vGuDkUxrrvgQSZgonLiwcdNUYQ

This is what happens when you put most of your albums on all digital formats.

https://loudwire.com/tool-first-act-top-10-rock-digital-songs/?fbclid=IwAR2RS9lf3IwDJheVYjd4sEwmDZ5u5FMyHzuuKaORdRL6D9Eete0F_ZnbXa4

Sorry, there’s a TON of “Tool” news right now.  Especially after a 13 year wait & now that they’re on all digital formats.

This is what will happen on August 30th.  The digital/online version of the album will have 7 songs & 3 interludes aka 10 tracks.  The physical copy, CD/Vinyl will contain the 7 songs only.  Why this is happening, I have no idea?

“Metallica” can be really good people if & when they choose to be.

https://loudwire.com/metallica-pediatric-hospital-donation/?fbclid=IwAR2NsCN6SiJXD7_DqjRe2Rl9oF0QHSbvR3aCwaLJlK4BC-XwsMCYR5irMMY

I’ll openly admit that I made jokes in bad taste about the “Tool” album taking “10,000 Days” to be released.  Their last release in 2006 was titled “10,000 Days”.  I didn’t realize it at the time but I believe that was the amount of time “Tool” singer’s, Maynard James Keenan, mother dealt with the effects of a stroke until she died.  My deepest apologies to fans I offended & to Maynard as well.

WOW!  Ashton Kutcher’s ex-girlfriend was murdered?  News to me & not the good kind!

https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/hollywood-ripper-ashley-ellerin-ashton-kutcher-guilty-murder-872360/?fbclid=IwAR0jhxwYoMU1GplImAd-GREvQURiQTsmMsU9QjXZngBqCnGbjZjmEhyq08o

Lots of people give “Rob Zombie” crap because of his music, he’s not heavy enough to be included in the metal genres.  I would have liked to see him handle this differently, but what makes it OK when Maynard uses his black belt training to tackle a fan that walked on stage?  “Rob Zombie” is a modern day “Alice Cooper”, but his music is more of a “dance metal” type.

https://loudwire.com/musicians-defend-rob-zombie-altercation-female-fan/

What albums are yet to come this year or have been reported about for us rock & metal fans.

“Anthrax” was said to be releasing a new album this year.  I’ve heard nothing from “Anthrax” about writing or recording a new album.

“Megadeth” are working on a new album that’s supposed be released this year.  Singer Dave Mustaine is dealing with throat cancer at the moment.  I can see this album being delayed for this reason.

“Lamb of God” was reported to have a new album out this year.  With the departure of drummer Chris Adler & the farewell tour of “Slayer”, no time has been spent writing or recording a new album.  They will carry on with their current drummer & will likely release a new album next year.

“Chevelle” has recorded a new album, likely in the mixing process.  No news on a release date yet.

“Tool”, “Big Wreck”, “Alter Bridge”, “Opeth” & “The Agonist” have all released preorder singles from albums to be released this year.  “Tool” & “Big Wreck” are first on August 30th & “Alter Bridge” is the final release of these albums on October 18th.  TONS of new music for me this year!

I now use Apple Music in some manner.  When the finances aren’t available, I get the album on Apple Music.  Once I purchase the album, I delete the Apple Music version.

The more you share this, the more readers I get.  No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.  I can’t tell who’s reading this but thank you!

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

THERE WILL NOT BE ANOTHER POST UNTIL THURSDAY OR POSSIBLY FRIDAY?  THIS WEEK WILL BE BUSY I WILL TRY TO GET MY EXERCISE IN BUT I KNOW A COUPLE OF DAYS MIGHT NOT HAPPEN!

Music throughout the weekend.  “Foo Fighters”, “Billie Eilish”, “Chevelle”, “Lamb of God”, & “Coheed & Cambria”

Big Wreck tickets are bought for November.  Cheaper than I expected $48 per ticket.  They may be nose bleed seats, but at the Casino, that’s not a big deal.  Small theater & I get to see one of my favourite bands for the 14th or 15th time!  WOO HOO!

Out for a beer Friday night with Corey McDonald.  I don’t get out much & he has 2 kids, our “niece” & “nephew”.  Probably a good change of scenery for both of us for a bit!

Saturday, Kim finished most of the painting of our suite.  Dad came over to help her remove the TV from the wall.  Mom & dad had a water issue in the laundry room today, pretty rough day for them!  Lots of power related to electronics full of water.  Dad apologized for being late, I told it was OK since mom told me what was going on.  Kim painted everything within 2 feet from the TV & the media center on the floor.  Fridge was pulled out to paint behind it too.  She’s almost done as of 5:00 pm on Saturday.

Kim wanted to get out & do something else.  We grabbed so McDonalds for supper & hit the road so she could take some photos.  She just finds a highway, then a gravel road, another random highway & continues to take random turns until she finds something to photograph.

I’m sure we’ll die at the hands of some tire iron psycho like at the start of a “Criminal Minds” episode.  Quiet dirt road, get a flat at a late hour, when all is dark on some random stretch of road in the middle of who knows where, & they’ll kill me first since I’m literally going nowhere fast but I’m the male & they don’t know how little strength I have, etc.  I’m gonna miss that show though!

Kim’s busy painting today, then we’ll get groceries, fridge can go back into place.  I can make my vegetable juice for the week, watch some baseball highlights, & sleep, if that’s what Kim is thinking will happen?

Yes, I like this band.  I understand if you don’t.  New song from “The Agonist”!!

Metallica’s in trouble with the law.

July 27th, 1984 Metallica released the album “Ride the Lightning”

A TON of albums to be released this year still “Big Wreck”, “Tool”, “The Agonist”, “Opeth”, “Alter Bridge”, “Megadeth” maybe, “Chevelle”, & “Anthrax” so far I have 3 on preorder, then Kim said to hold up, fair enough that’s quite a bit this year, especially with the other iTunes albums I have bought & the bonus songs on the special anniversary albums on iTunes.  “Tool” won’t have a preorder I suspect, “Opeth” preorder is out, I didn’t grab it just wrote down the release date, “Chevelle” is recorded but no release date yet, & I don’t know what is happening with “Anthrax” or “Megadeth”?

DIEMONDS

I’m not a fan of “Guns n’ Roses”.  Take a deep breath, sit down, get some water, & put your head between your knees.  I know that was probably a HUGE shock to a lot of you.  Seeing as I’m not a fan of “Guns n’ Roses”, there is no reason I should like “Diemonds” but they’re darn catchy & a good time!

They played in Regina, at The Exchange, last year or 2 years ago & I didn’t bother to look them up until a day or 2 after the show.  I missed out & didn’t go, but was instantly hooked on the 2 of 4 albums on iTunes.

They’re also Canadian, originally out of Toronto, Ontario.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

4 day exercise total; 400 leg lifts, 300 crunches, 300 squats, 200 back flexes, 400 curls, 140 tricep lifts w/5 pound weight, 140 shoulder raises w/5 pound weight,  stretching, & yoga.

I fell asleep to “Coheed and Cambria” the album “No World for Tomorrow”

I exercised to “Pearl Jam” the album “Pearl Jam”

Truth be told I did ALL of my exercises on Monday & Wednesday.  Went to my family cabin on Tuesday with my parents to drop off a few things.  I figured I might as well do the same thing on Wednesday.

Yesterday we spent WAY too much time trying to correct problems with what iTunes has made.  I must be their favourite person to talk to, Monday –Wednesday, I’ve called the support line 4-6 times.  Kim’s smarter than me & we’ll get it done tonight or tomorrow.  I’m not touching it today until Kim’s home.

Summer is hear & we’ll be taking a staycation next week.  I’ll check my email & Facebook, but I won’t resume these posts until Sunday, July 7th.  Kim has this Friday off work, so our staycation for me starts now!

ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS PLEASE.  YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE GAY TO SUPPORT THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY!  I’m heterosexual & I believe that every individual has the right to spend their life with whoever they love.

The more I think of what I told the doctor at the appointment, the more I think of what is likely my biggest issue.  I told the doctor this at the end just before I left the office, I should have started with this.  I don’t want to be a burden to anyone, & that’s what likely causes me to get frustrated so easily.  If I want to go somewhere, someone has to take me to my destination.  If it’s something I think I can do on my own, I get frustrated that I need assistance & that individual will do it differently than I will.  I wasn’t like that before I had cancer.

I look at things now this way, “If I can’t do this on my own by now, why am I doing all of this exercise?”  I’m not about to give up on my exercise.  I want to be more independent.

I’ve really never been on this side of the fence before.  I think, I’m not positive, but a handful of people in high school would come to me if they had an issue.  Other than that I just kept my head down & tried not to stir the pot.  I had problems with other students that seemed to seek me out to verbally abuse me.  My home life is & always has been happy & upbeat.  My parents are together & have likely become closer after 40 years of marriage (41 in November).  Same with my grandparents.

There are a LOT more people who have dealt with more than I have, so I see it again as “Why can’t I get myself out of this rut?”  I’ve usually been the person willing to help others & now I need help?  Since when?  This is new territory for me, & it feels weird.

I really hated elementary & high school.  I finished high school with an 80% average or higher every year, despite my inner attitude.  All of that verbal abuse from the time I took my bicycle to school in grade 2 & I didn’t say a word about any of it to anyone.  There’s a photo of me at the after-grad party with the biggest cheesy grin on my face, because I was so happy to be set free!

At the moment “The Struts” & “Dead Sara” are ruling my music world!

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even as a concert goer, I hate cell phone cameras at any type of live show.  Put your phone away & enjoy the show.  If you’re taking a video or photo at least have the courtesy to ask if you’re blocking someone’s view of the show.  FYI, when you get home, that video will look & sound terrible.

My iPod Touch will take photos & videos.  If I’m out, it will stay here at home.  I have no issue with anybody having a cell phone.  I do wish they came with an operation manual though that said “For use in these instances….”  “Not recommended for the following situations…..”  I guess more of an etiquette guide.

With a 90% success rate, Dave Mustaine can beat his throat cancer.  He thanks his family, friends, & fans for all of the support.

Fighter planes to shoot down UFOs were called Foo Fighters & that’s where Dave Grohl got the name.  He was really into science fiction at the time.  He even made a cameo on “The X-Files”.

I’ve also become a big fan of 4 “Coheed and Cambria” albums lately.

“Good Apollo I’m Burning Star IV”   2005 release

“No World for Tomorrow”   2007 release

“The Color Before the Sun”   2015 release

“The Unheavenly Creatures”   2018 release

BLACK SABBATH

There’s always a debate about who created the “Metal” genre & Black Sabbath is always in the discussion.  For that reason alone I’m going with Black Sabbath being the pioneers of metal music.  Some of their stuff I find too slow & bordering on boring.  I do have 13 albums with Ozzy Osbourne & other singers on different albums.  The song “Black Sabbath” is one of those boring songs to me.

I saw an interview years ago with guitarist Tony Iommi.  The day before they were about to either tour or record their first album he cut the tip of his finger off while he was working his last day at a steel factory.  He tried a TON of things on the tip of his fingers on his fretting hand but nothing worked.  He just learned how to play with no tips on his fingers.

No, I won’t put a song from all of the albums I own.  I’ll give you a small sample of Ozzy Osbourne as the lead vocalist & the 3 albums that Ronnie James Dio sang on.

1970   BLACK SABBATH

1980   HEAVEN AND HELL

1981   MOB RULES

1992   DEHUMANIZER

Here are some of their classic songs

Are athletes not supposed to show their emotion & act like robots with no emotion?  Why are NHL players allowed to celebrate a goal, football players are allowed to celebrate after a touchdown or field goal, basketball players celebrate a win, or soccer players run around & rip their jersey off?  How dare a baseball player celebrate ANYTHING?  Time to come out of the dark ages MLB!  This broadcaster played until the mid-1990s!

https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/red-sox-broadcaster-dennis-eckersley-calls-out-marcus-stromans-antics-213647496.html

July 31st is the trade deadline for MLB.  If the rumours are true, Blue Jays might make a HUGE trade that could potentially hurt them.  Aaron Sanchez was pegged to be “The best starting pitcher in all of baseball”, that never happened though.  Marcus Stroman is arguably in the top 5 starting pitchers in the league or at least in the top 10.  There is talk that they’ll trade 1B Justin Smoak, SP Marcus Stroman, SP Aaron Sanchez & perhaps another player I can’t think of.  Justin Smoak & Aaron Sanchez would be at the top of my list to get rid of.  Every team is looking for pitching.  Why would they even consider trading a top 10 pitcher who’s not even 28, under contract for another year at just over $500,000 & his agent isn’t anything like Sanchez’s agent who is well known for wanting the most money & longest term contract he can get?  What do they expect in return for trading Marcus Stroman?  Maybe 3 top pitching prospects?  If everyone is looking for pitching, there can’t be much out there?  Even young prospects are still just a maybe in the future.

As good as I feel after I exercise, I do need a break from time to time.  A summer break sounds really good.  I’m kind of tired, just seems like a good idea since Kim is off work.  I know I’ll end up doing some type of exercise.  That’s just what I’m used to doing.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Live” the album “Throwing Copper”, followed by “Mark Morton” his solo album “Anesthetic”

I exercised to “Corrosion of Conformity” the album “Wiseblood”

Friday’s post on here will be later than usual.  “Mid-afternoon” or later.

I was up at 8:00 am on Monday & got straight to my exercises.  I usually listen to music, but we forgot to put the remote on the charger overnight.  Kim comes home at the end of the day & we hunker down to watch “The Ellen Degeneres Show” only to find the Toronto Raptors celebration parade was recorded in it’s place.  I purposely set it to record on a Canadian channel to avoid so many “Breaking News” alerts about mass shootings in America.  A couple of years ago it was a weekly occurrence.  I’ve never really been a basketball fan & I didn’t hop on the Raptors wagon.  Good for them, but not in my list of interests.

It’s been a quiet week thus far.  The next couple of days could be “EXTREME”LY busy?

I beat cancer & that’s GREAT!  Still annoying with the appointments.  Beats the alternative though.  My (cancer) doctors are always asking how I am, but with a head tilt in a really sympathetic voice.  I’m fine, but it’s getting old at this point.  I wish they would treat me like a “normal” patient.  They all did & are doing their job VERY well!

Going to the cancer clinic here is a routine now for me every year.  That’s not a typical routine for most people, it’s annoying, but again, I guess it’s a pretty good tradeoff for being alive & well.

I don’t really feel like a cancer survivor………………..until someone asks me how I’m doing.  Not that I expect them not to ask.  I’m just tired of being treated differently.  Nobody’s fault at all, but it’s been over a decade since I had cancer.  I’d likely ask the same thing.  I guess the iPatch, wheelchair, & my speech are a giveaway.  Ah well.

I’ve almost completely abandoned my pushups & tricep lifts.  Tuesdays & Thursdays are now just stretching, yoga, & weights.  They’re totally different muscles though.  I might throw in 100 pushups on those days?  Different muscles, but still working my arms on those days, we’ll see what happens next week?

I don’t know of any fans of “Ghost”.  Anybody that’s anticipating new music from them will have to wait until 2020.

https://loudwire.com/ghost-tobias-forge-new-album-2020/?fbclid=IwAR2vR7hTwdLWDTiYfdbnM_aZHHa7QE4y1BcPZiA0G-ZsnlHDxJ7mGSiZhyc

It must take quite a while to finish a professional release?  Sum 41, Big Wreck, Chevelle, Alter Bridge, & Tool, all say they’re done recording.  I have 2 Sum 41, 2 Big Wreck singles, & one song from The Agonist from a future album.  Anthrax, Megadeth, & Pearl Jam are said to be releasing new material this year also.  I’m a bit worried they’ll all just unleash their albums all at the same time.

I don’t have Big Wreck on preorder.  A recent death in the band easily explains the hold up of a release though.

July = Sum 41, August = Tool maybe, October = Alter Bridge, & September = The Agonist.

Dave Mustaine, former lead guitarist Metallica & now singer/guitarist/founder of Megadeth has been diagnosed with throat cancer.  His doctors have a plan that has a 90% success rate.

https://loudwire.com/megadeth-dave-mustaine-diagnosed-throat-cancer/?fbclid=IwAR0D5Cw2vV5DkrxMDRUDcz1-UPpQ9LTx2OSM9Z61267Af_4lrYbnJAajWfA

If I can survive stage 4 brain cancer (5-15% chance of coming out of a coma).  I’m likely to think Dave Mustaine can beat throat cancer with a 90% success rate of surviving!

https://loudwire.com/rock-metal-community-support-dave-mustaine-throat-cancer-battle/?fbclid=IwAR0Bm8a6qg8wrMDs6vcewg4TvPlAHTleMQ4sQunInvI2A56co61q1aCnGJA

Dave Mustaine seems very driven to release a new Megadeth album despite his throat cancer diagnoses.  We’ll see, I wouldn’t blame if it didn’t come out this year.

“The Batman” villains in 2021?

Article/interview with Alter Bridge regarding new album & European tour dates.

Big Wreck announced tour dates.  A few in the Maritimes, & the rest throughout America.

WHAT???????  Facebook bans Led Zeppelin art work for the album “Houses of the Holy”.  I would think a band like “Cannibal Corps” would be the first target if they’re doing this?

ASCOT ROYALS (revised)

I made a mistake last time I wrote about them.  They’re not done!  I found a single on iTunes just after the previous blog about them.  This is the group I saw opening for Big Wreck a few years ago on their “Grace Street” tour at the Casino in town.  I thought they were REALLY good.  A bit softer than Big Wreck, they fit together very well though.

Single released in 2018   EVIL I KNOW

I’ll correct my mistakes on here it just might take a while before I notice them.
