Renovations we’re & are pressing on at light speed this week.  On Monday, Brewster & I were staying at my parents’ place by about 7:15 am.  Our two wall treatments were be installed.  We needed to get Brewster out of here or he’d freak out with all of the noise, & I’d just be in the way.  We thought we’d be back Monday night, it took a little longer.  We got back Wednesday afternoon.  The painter for the wall treatments will be here Thursday bright & early at 7:30 am.

The three guitars I mentioned on Friday are set in stone for me as goals to save for & must have items.  All in this order to purchase them from most expensive to most affordable.  I watch guitar stuff on www.youtube.com but I’m more than content with these choices and I’m not looking into the specs on another guitar, EVER!

https://www.schecterguitars.com/guitars/custom/tempest-custom-vwht-1-detail

There are no B plans for any of them so I just have to stay the course, not spend money on anything to save for them over the next however many years it takes.  Once I’ve saved enough for one of them I order it ASAP.  I’m not looking into the small specifications on another guitar.  Why the S2 McCarty 594?  It’s at the lowest price offered by PRS, it’s said to be THE S2 model to buy, it’s wired to sound much like a Les Paul, & the difference between an S2 model and a fancy Core model is $3000 Canadian before tax.

Even with the range of guitars I’ll have, I’m not going to be able to cover every sound or tuning, but this might explain the reason for multiple guitars…

What I do really miss about work or being able bodied is just doing manual labour.  Running a printing press, cutting the lawn or shoveling the drive way & sidewalk.  I’d pop on my iPod & just go!  I’d go to work and for a few months I’d put on “Dream Theater’s” album ‘Systematic Chaos’ followed by a double album of “Lynyrd Skynyrd” greatest hits and finish the day with a sport talk podcast.

Pretty sure that despite my efforts the hacker is still here?  That’s just getting old for me & they’re pretending to be “Ellen Degeneres” inviting me to Facebook groups with Ellen’s name spelled incorrectly.  I don’t enter any contests or anything like that & I don’t know any BIG name celebrities.  I call poppycock on that!  I don’t win anything because I rarely enter any competition or lottery.

Exercises must happen for me ASAP in the morning for me.  It’s become a VERY consistent routine.  Now we have to make walking with my walker part of a late afternoon routine.  I’m fine with doing the walking, I just never think about it?  The only downside to it is having to put on my A.F.O. (ankle foot orthotic) brace on my left foot.  It prevents me from hyper extending my knee.  I don’t like it because I can’t feel where my foot should land with every step & I never use it when going up or down stairs for that exact reason.

We watched a movie Friday evening & another Saturday evening.  You know once we got home from whooping it up out on the town during a pandemic!  We watched the sequel “Coming 2 America” streaming on Amazon Prime…

Saturday evening we watched “Moxie” streaming on Netflix.  Directed by Amy Poehler who plays the mom of a rebellious teen.

Kim goes out Sunday to get a couple of salads for supper, so I told her what I’d have and I stayed home with Brewster.  After 10 minutes the phone rings.  It’s Kim she has a dilemma.  “Hi, I passed a McDonalds & thought we should have that.  What would you like for supper?”  That’s my girl!

We watched the Meghan & Harry interview with Oprah.  I never watched Oprah & I’ve never followed the Royal family.  I watched some of it anyways.  Meghan admits that she didn’t want to live during the interview.  When Oprah hears this she’s in shock.  Why?  I think the stats are 1/5 people suffer from mental illness?  So think about that, there are 3 people on TV together, chances are pretty good that 1 of them has or is dealing with mental illness.  I don’t understand why that’s so shocking?  I don’t want to kill myself now, but for a long period of time I did.  The stats show 1/5 people suffer from mental illness.  Remember that only 1/5 people are willing to admit it, I’m sure MANY more suffer in silence.  Maybe I’m not flabbergasted by this because I’m one of those people or that I know of more than a few others with mental health issues.

“Foo Fighters” are EVERYWHERE right now promoting their FANTASTIC new album “Medicine at Midnight”.  I’m biased but this is easily among their best albums.  Total “David Bowie” vibe to it!  Here they are on James Corden…

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Exercise total for 5 days.

500 Curls w/ 20 pound dumb bells

300 Shoulder raises/Chest presses w/ 10 pound dumb bells

1050 Crunches

1050 Leg lifts

300 Squats

600 Back flexes

I’m going to stop writing this stuff at the end of 2021 or one post into 2022.  I’m getting pretty bored of writing this stuff.  I live it & regurgitate it to you & I’m pretty “simple” to begin with.  Eat, exercise, eat, shower, eat, play guitar, eat, play more guitar, have supper, watch TV, play guitar, sleep & repeat.

I’ll buy the PRS S2 McCarty 594 a soon as I have the cash.  When I order the PRS S2 McCarty 594, I’ll have to wait at least 6 months for it.  Then save and repeat but the wait might not be as long?  I’m excited to get any guitar but when I have the money (in a few years) & order this guitar, it’ll feel like another level!  I’m not undermining the importance and flexibility of other guitars I own, but this PRS S2 model is said to be THE guitar in the PRS S2 line!

After a TON of thought, the Schecter Tempest, although I REALLY liked the majority of what it offers, might be too similar in sound with a few less features compared to the McCarty 594.  I’ve also realized that I’m not a huge fan of the Stratocaster body shape, so as I was searching throughout last week & this gem kept showing up & won me over with a MUCH more different sound & MUCH lower price tag (less than $650 after tax), despite this purchase being many years away.

Go ahead guitar gear heads, it says “Squier” instead of anything else.  I’m not paying a ton of cash for a bigger brand name.  I’ve got a Fender & a PRS S2, good enough for me! Hopefully the split coil on the McCarty 594 is as good as they say.  A full on hollow body will be completely different from ANYTHING I have and be a great ending chapter to my guitar purchasing…if it’s still around.

I tried to force ‘guitar mojo’ on a Stratocaster, but that never works.  Had to be exactly what I wanted because I don’t want to shop for another guitar.  Guitars give me FOMO, fear of missing out, since I don’t have a disposable income for anything let alone guitars, so if they go out of production before I save the money to buy it, I get kinda sad.  I guess these purchases are more of a hopeful occurrence in the future.

Other than it being very cold in Regina this week, it’s been a good satisfying week of exercise.  Some ‘communication breakdowns’ getting all of my refills from the doctor to the pharmacy, but we got it figured out by the time I needed everything.

The Covid active cases are on decline throughout the province of Saskatchewan since January 12th.  As per the restrictions, nothing changes until further notice on February 19th.  I guess that’s fine, I would prefer tighter restrictions but I’m not a politician?

As I’ve said many times before, I really watch a miniscule amount of TV & I missed “The Ellen Degeneres Show” on her birthday show.  New DVR, so I don’t know if it was me, a user problem, or if something went wonky with the DVR box?

Right now I’m playing a handful of songs by “Pearl Jam”.

I’m continuously running through these “Stone Temple Pilots” song as well & other stuff too.  Keeps me busy.

The music I like is mostly from the 1990s, there’s usually some “Soundgarden”, “Alice in Chains”, “Rage Against the Machine”, “Audioslave”, & always “Foo Fighters”, etc. being played on guitar here.  Then as far as a little bit of metal goes “Metallica”, “Megadeth”, “In Flames, “Trivium” and eventually some “Lamb of God”.  For the 7 string it’s “Trivium” a dash of “Dream Theater” and I like coming up with stuff on the 7 string.

We’re watching TV Thursday evening.  Kim picks out a documentary & instantly grabs her cell as usual, & it drives me nutz!  I said to her, as I always do “You’re not even watching your show?”  I get the usual reply from her “I’m listening”.  Then I caught her with “But the show is subtitled and in Swedish?”  BOOM!

April 30th marks the 3rd album titled ‘Typhoons’ from “Royal Blood” who released a video for the title track!

Welcome back to the program!  You’re here so if you like what you see, might as well subscribe?  Either on Facebook or with your email in the bottom right corner, it’s really that easy & it’s free!  I know you want to tell your friends, go ahead!

Tell everyone about this site, share the link, & most importantly “tell her about it”

I don’t know who “she” is?  I just wanted to hear some Billy Joel when I wrote that!

Exercise total for 5 days.

500 Curls w/ 20 pound dumb bells

300 Shoulder raises/Chest presses w/ 10 pound dumb bells

1,050 Crunches

1,050 Leg lifts

300 Squats

600 Back flexes

Crunches, leg lifts, & back flexes all went up number wise.  My muscles were sore by the end of Tuesday.  It was nice to take a break over the holidays, but it sucked doing more and starting all over again.

You’re not the only one that thinks this has gone on for WAY TOO long.  A lot of the time, I feel I’ve over stepped on the duration of this site.  I’m guessing I’m not the only one that finds this mundane.  I live it, and you read it.  My life’s not that exciting.  I like music, I play guitar, I exercise, I’ve been married for over 15 years, I have no children, I have an almost 15 year old dog, I’m in a wheelchair, I have an iPatch, I had stage 4 brain cancer, I’m now 12 years cancer free, & I lead a pretty regular life for an almost 41 year old guy.  Other than not leaving my house for more than an hour a week & not being able to drive, there’s nothing too extravagant here.

I do like going to live concerts but I’m cutting back on who & where I’ll see a live show.  Cutting back on live concerts isn’t that bad living in Saskatchewan.  Nobody comes here other than Canadian groups or artists.  The last BIG name act here in Regina was “Lynyrd Skynyrd” in early 2019?  I do frequent Calgary for a “Foo Fighters” show.  I’ve been there with my dad the last 3 “Foo Fighters” tours/album cycles.  I hear “Alter Bridge” plan to hit western Canada on their next album cycle for the first time ever since their debut release in 2004, bucket list so I can’t miss that.  Being physically handicapped helps with cutting back on that too.  It’s sometimes hard to find people that are willing to drive 8 hours away and pay $50-$100 to see a show, not everyone likes the same music as I do.  In the end, I’d rather save money for the PRS S2 McCarty 594 guitar.

Like you haven’t seen it enough that’s my next and final purchase, even if I win this less expensive guitar below.

I know it comes off a greedy since it’s for me, but it’s free & was a VERY close runner up to the McCarty 594.  This SE “Paul’s Guitar” that I’d like to win has some very cool sound features on it that other guitars don’t, that’s what makes it different, & that’s why I like it so much!

Lots of people like to travel, I’m not one of them.  If Kim gets the urge to go somewhere, I’m in!  I like spending time with my wife.  Sure we disagree & argue because we’re both stubborn.  Don’t tell her I said this, but she’s a LOT smarter than me….that can be our little secret, shhh!

With all of that being said & the fact that pretty much EVERYTHING is now negligible for me including leaving the house for more than 30 minutes a week, since mid-July 2012, that should sum up the reason for buying guitars.  I gotta pass the time how I want to.  It’s Groundhog Day here.  I get up, eat, exercise, shower eat, play guitar while checking Facebook & email, eat, play more guitar, have supper, hang out with Kim & go to bed, wake up & repeat.

I didn’t watch the videos that I put out on Tuesday until I posted them, they were all one take.  I knew I wouldn’t like them if I watched them.  On the plus side they did/do make me want to practice more!  Like I mentioned before, I want to really push myself more this year.  “There’s always someone doing better at what you do” – Anonymous.  I don’t know when I heard that, probably at a very young age, it’s very true though.

T**** supporters listened & stood by, then did EXACTLY what he told them to do on Wednesday, January 6th.  Just arrest T**** at this point!  T**** hasn’t started anything in the past, but now he has, and this is how T**** chose to end his term as President.  4 Americans died on Wednesday because of nobody but T****.  His silence is deafening!  T**** is the equivalent of Charles Manson, he’s encouraged others to do his illegal bidding for him, multiple times.  At the rally T**** stated “I will be with you” he lied, again!  He wasn’t in the march.  How does he condemn the attack that he ENCOURAGED at the rally moments before it took place?

Whether he likes this or not, THIS is on him.  #Blacklivesmatter wasn’t because of him, racism has been around for centuries, T**** exacerbated it.  He didn’t create the pandemic, he mocked it & let the death toll take over while ignoring science.

I’m so pissed off I couldn’t sleep Wednesday night.  2 weeks away from a real leader in the White House!  T**** supporters just became the smallest fish in a VERY big pond!  T****, his administration, & T**** supporters are easily the least patriotic people on Earth.

Even as a Canadian living in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada I feel WAY too close to Washington, D.C.!  Republican voters just left another HUGE WHITE stain on American history.  Yeah, I’m a Canadian living in Canada so I am “Unamerican” & more than happy to be in a different country.

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is no excuse or reason for this other than T****’s bruised ego & his sheep like follower’s blatant ignorance in reality, democracy, science, & law.  Along with EVERY American politician that didn’t do anything proactive about it.

MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

T**** is talking about pardoning himself?  LIKE HELL THAT’S GONNA HAPPEN!  The next time I see T**** on TV he had better be in handcuffs!  He has blood on his hands now, along with many republican politicians.  If they aren’t punished for MURDER wtf is the point of T****’s “law & order” statement?  Who goes to jail first & does the USA prison system have enough room?  What would I do if I crossed paths with him in public?  Nothing, he’s not worth my time.

T**** spoke on Thursday.  Do you know that it took two individual efforts for him to call the National Guard and Ivanka was the 2nd individual?  Even after Wednesday’s events he continues to LIE!?!?

For T****, his administration & those that continue to support him, may God have mercy on your souls when your time is up.

For those that have ever approved of him & voted for him, you drank the Kool-Aid & screwed up BIG but you’re human & people make mistakes.  Learn from this & don’t repeat your mistakes.

American political leaders, pay REALLY close attention to this part if you see this!?  Don’t go to war with another country because they have a “broken” political system.  Fix yours first, then worry about other countries.  It took a domestic terrorist attack for American politicians to finally CONSIDER doing something about the American political system?  Who didn’t something like this coming?  WAKE UP!

The USA Federal government is laughable on a good day.  Wednesday was a cluster****!  SHAME on democrat & republican politicians for allowing this bullshit to carry on!  Their actions affect the lives of their citizens, they NEED to do a better job!

Yeah I used a curse word but the President, among many alleged crimes, has mocked a handicapped person, called dead soldiers “losers”, called Governors “jerks” for not using force to break up legal & peaceful riots, asked foreign countries to intervene in multiple elections, cuddled up with dictators, called Georgia election officials to “…find 11, 780 votes…” for him & instigated a riot on American soil.  You tell me who’s in the wrong here.

I couldn’t sleep Wednesday night with my emotions running at 10/10, so I worked on a guitar until 2:00 am & then cried myself to sleep.

It’s 11:51 pm Thursday night.  I’m still pissed off & REALLY DISAPPOINTED in everything that has led to this point in time.

Politicians are CONSIDERING invoking the 25th amendment?  Less than 2 weeks in his 4 year term, but NOW he’s a threat????????????????????  COME ON?????

I’m SO glad I beat cancer so I could live to see 2016-present!

Please help me win this guitar on Sunday.  I don’t want to wait for something else star spangled fantastic to happen.

I fell asleep to “Trivium” the album “The Sin and The Sentence”

I exercised to “Alter Bridge” the album “Walk the Sky”

I’d talk more about the sad loss of so many people because of this virus, but that seems redundant with it on EVERY media outlet EVERYWHERE!  I must say a HUGE heartfelt thank you to all of the 911 responders & health professionals busting their butts to keep us safe!

I complain too much!  Mostly about my lack of money.  I need to shut my yap, most people have the same problem, so we’re no different.  I also talk too much about guitars but that’s my hobby, so you’ll just have to deal with it.

Most guitar players will sell a guitar to get another.  That has never really made sense to me, something I’m positive I’d regret.  My acoustic guitar will always remain because it’s my only acoustic guitar.  My 4 electric guitars all have a distinct sound & pickups for a reason, even the Fender which, the more I play it, the more I like it!  That’s the only one I didn’t point out to someone.

Lots of guitar players have multiple guitars for many different reasons.  Different tunings, sounds, body shapes, brands, pickups, colours, etc.  My 3 electric 6 strings all sound different, have different pickups, colours, brands, & different body shapes.  My electric 7 string is obviously for stuff that requires a 7th string/lower tuning.  I don’t need to make a point of playing each one, I have all of those reasons to change it up!

I got my first guitar on my 21st birthday in 2001.  I got brain cancer 6 days after my 28th birthday.  I basically played for 6 years in 3 different bands.  I was always a singer first.  I learned guitar after singing in a band for around a year because guitar looked fun & I needed something to do with my hands.

Now that I’ve resumed playing after an almost 12 year hiatus due to cancer, things are WAY different.  Playing in a wheelchair is by far the biggest difference.  I didn’t realize how big of a deal posture was when playing guitar.  As of Thursday, I have that figured out finally.

When I got cancer, my body was so weak I couldn’t feed myself for a few years or even drink anything for that matter and swallowing was a gong show.  My nutrients was all through an IV drip.  I began drinking through a straw, meanwhile Kim & my parents had to feed me.

Now my right hand is fine, my left hand & arm are still noticeably weaker, but getting stronger everyday with my exercise & guitar playing.  Each time I learn something new on guitar I think “Wow that sounds much more difficult than it really is!”

When I was first playing guitar I had no clue as to what I was doing.  If I put my hands here in a certain shape I’d make the right sound & I learned, a bit, from there.  Now it’s all been physically brand new, while knowing SO much more about what I’m doing.  Before I’d have to look up the tab for each song, now I just need the chord to figure out the short riffs/hooks to a song.

I don’t think about what it is that I’m doing at the time, I think of that afterwards.  Really all I think about while playing is “Does this sound right in this part of the song?”  I tend to close my eyes if I’m not moving my hand & arm up & down the neck of the guitar & rely more on my ears.  The muscle memory is definitely coming along though!

There’s a guy on www.youtube.com who always says “The perfect amount of guitars is, all of the guitars you own + 1”.  Maybe for him (20+ guitars including 5 high end PRS models) & other guitar players.  Fair enough he teaches guitar & makes extra cash with his youtube videos.  6 electric guitars & one acoustic are all I’d ever want.  If I couldn’t play every electric guitar I own within 1 ½ weeks, why would I have them?

Much like that rule that applies to EVERYTHING that’s not seasonal “If you haven’t used it in 6 months, why do you need it?”  This is another example for me of LESS IS MORE.

I have definitely decided to save up for this guitar & we’ll see what happens in a few years.  Brewster is on his pills, heart pill forever & a temporary water pill, as long as he has what he needs, we consider things good.  I won’t be getting this exact model of guitar, that’s this year’s model.  Hopefully something with the PRS TCI pickups (less gain), more electronic options, the bridge, an inexpensive SE model still (less Maple wood involved) & different PRS tuners.  Go to 2:20 minutes to hear what Paul Reed Smith wanted this guitar to have…

After 2 good days on Saturday & Sunday working through a few songs, I’m really happy with my progress.  I picked 10 songs to practice a few on each guitar, and so far things are good.  Here’s a sample of what I’ve picked to learn…

It’s REALLY good to have productive days like this!!!

The Toronto Blue Jays 1992 World Series highlights are being replayed.  I’m wearing my, once VERY large jersey, I got in 1992.  Yes, for Christmas of 2013? I asked to have Roberto Alomar’s name & #12 put on the back of it.  First Toronto Blue Jay player to go into the Hall of Fame!

https://images.app.goo.gl/N3CeybdEjxLQavSC6

What do I think of “Pearl Jam’s” new album “Gigaton”?  I really like it, I’ve been waiting for a looooong time for Pearl Jam to release a different album from anything in their catalogue while keeping the grungesque 1990s vibe at the same time.  Are you a fan?

MY EXERCISE FOR 2019.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

My 40th birthday is on January 30th.  On Facebook I am asking for people to make donations of any amount to the Canadian Red Cross.  If you’re not from Canada, please make a donation to your country’s Red Cross.  I had 3 brain surgeries.  Before I had cancer I would donate blood.  I don’t know how many pints of blood I received from others, but now I cannot donate my blood anymore.  Please send them any donation of money, blood, volunteer work, etc.  The amount of any donation will not matter, but will be VERY appreciated!

Well here it is my exercise for all of 2019.  Of course there are a handful of weeks where I did nothing.  As for travelling, I took a 6 hour car trip to Winnipeg for my great aunt’s 80th birthday celebration, spent 2 or 3 days in Winnipeg with family.  Went to the family cabin near Moose Jaw for about 4 days.  Then 2 nights at Kim’s parents’ place near Prince Albert. Other than that we were at home, exercising my butt off while Kim was at work, yet I still can’t walk?  Ah well, maybe in a few years.  All I have to show for this exercise is a much smaller belly & very lean muscle.

Most of my exercise totals will drop significantly this year.  I’m plan to focus more on quality than quantity.  Heavier weights, deeper squats, other squats, better/longer yoga, & much more cardio hopefully.  I’ve already increased the weights & added a few other exercises.  No point in waiting?

Curls (added later on in the year): 13,000

Leg lifts: 37,500

Crunches: 41,500

Tricep lifts (I stopped when I realized my yoga gave my triceps a good workout): 4,820

Shoulder raises (added later on in the year): 4,970

Back flexes: 18,300

Pushups (I do some if I have any energy left): 13,100

Squats (changed to make them more difficult after a few months): 21,970

About 3 or 4 hours of stretching & yoga a week.  My resolutions for 2020, practice going down and up a flight of stairs 3-6 times once a week & seriously improve on the guitar.

After all of that, I’ve seriously trimmed down from 265 into the hospital, 210 while in the hospital & physiotherapy, to 280 after eating nothing but garbage out of the hospital to my current weight of 226 pounds as of January 1st, 2020.  I’d consider the last 7 ½ years as prep work for what’s about to come.  It’s like I was doing cardio & now I’ll do more muscle work while continuing with some cardio.  I was 185 pounds when I graduated high school, for me to be under 210 is unthinkable.  I’d be a sack of bones.  I’m 6’1” on a large frame.  225-230 pounds should do, but it’s just a number.  To put all of this into perspective my T-Shirts are drooping around my neck & quite baggy.  I’m wearing some T-Shirts from 2006.  I was surprised with my weight!  I haven’t been that weight in 20 years!

Measurements as of January 1, 2020.

Stomach: 44 ¼”

Biceps; Left 14 ¼”, Right 14 ¾”

Chest: 45”

Upper leg; Left 22 ½”, Right 23 ½”

Calves; Left 14 ¾”, Right 14 ½”

Most of those exercise have changed, will change, or will be eliminated.  Back flexes are by far the most difficult!  Lay flat on the floor on your stomach, arms out to the sides, feet shoulder length apart, then lift all 4 limbs off of the ground at the same time for 2 seconds.  I do that 3 days a week, along with other stuff.  Trust me, I’m not ripped at all & I’m pasty white.

I don’t tan, I burn!  There’s a window of 30 seconds for me between burning to a crisp or remaining blindingly white.  I choose to be extremely pale rather than being in pain looking like a boiled lobster.

I play guitar at home now as opposed to playing on stage, for me, less is more.  I used to have a 4 X 12” cabinet of speakers, a Randall amplifier, 8 or 9 effect pedals, & 2 electric guitars.  I rarely played my acoustic guitar live.  I gave my big amplifier & cabinet away when I got cancer.  I’m down to 4 pedals now, gave a couple away when I got sick & sold a couple to help pay for the practice amplifier I use now.  Now I have 3 electric guitars, one I got in the hospital signed by Ian Thornley of Big Wreck, the other 2 that I had before & my acoustic guitar.  Yes, every guitar is tuned differently, otherwise it would be pointless to have them.  No frills to see here.  I’m going to order the PRS guitar in the summer, we’re saving for it.  As for the Limited Edition Epiphone 7 string guitar, maybe a few years down the road, if I’m still into metal music.  If I ever get a 7 string guitar, I hope those are still in production.  I’m getting anxious for the PRS guitar, still need to save though.  Got up and procrastinated by taking a broken guitar effect pedal apart, cleaned it, put it back together, & it now works.  10 minutes saved me the $120 I paid for it 19 years ago.  I am so not a handy person, never have been.

https://www.prsguitars.com/index.php/electrics/model/s2_custom_22_semi_hollow_2020   I’m going to order it in a McCarty Sunburst finish!

Better look at it and a review of the 2019 version.  Pretty much the same guitar, I’ll be ordering a different colour though.

The more research I do on this guitar, the more I want it.  It will be like a combination of my other 3 electric guitars plus other highlights I don’t have.  Happy Belated 40th to me in the summer!

No I can’t play like that yet.  I was a very simple rhythm player that played the chords, hook, & sang.

I eat the same thing for breakfast & lunch every day, & I’m happy with it, I can maintain it & have for quite a while.  I get up at about 7:30 am, feed Brewster then I get my breakfast.  One or two hard boiled eggs, a small glass of vegetable juice that I make a pitcher of on the weekend, a piece of fruit (usually an apple), and a liter of water with some apple cider vinegar in it.  7 days a week I have 3 to 5 liters of water, 6 on the odd occasion.  I exercise, have a small snack of yogurt usually, hit the shower.  By the time I’m out, it’s time for lunch.  Lunch is one or two lettuce wraps with some Dijon mustard & turkey deli meat.  Check my email, practice guitar, & have a snack of crackers & hummus.  Then I watch about an hour of TV or a bit more and Kim is home for supper.  That’s a typical day for me.  It’s a routine I have gotten used to & get upset with myself if I miss my exercise in the morning.

Musically, I only made it to 4 big name concerts this year.  One of them was a Christmas family get together type of event.

I saw “Lynyrd Skynyrd” here in the spring.  They played at the arena here.

“The Watchmen” were at Casino Regina in October

“Big Wreck” was here at Casino Regina in mid-November

My mother got tickets for 7 of us to see “Boney M” at the Conexus Arts Center, a theater, on December 10th.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.  “Foo Fighters”, “Lynyrd Skynyrd”, “Randy Bachman”, & “Metallica”.

On Friday, my dad came to take Brewster & I to my parents’ place a little after 1:00 pm.  Hung out there, played some cards with my cousin & a family friend, Karen, who just had orthoscopic knee surgery.  Kim came after work, as well as Ray, Karen’s better half…………….other half.  Probably safer if I say “other”.

Mom & dad cooked a prime rib sirloin, asparagus, potatoes that I avoided, & another tasty dish that was so good I forget what it was?

Stayed for a bit after a dessert of chocolate & peanut butter ice cream.  Had a few beverages & came home.

Saturday at noon was another pre-season baseball game, & Saturday evening was the concert.  On their Farewell tour with Randy Bachman as the opener.  I finally saw them play “Free Bird”!

We were & still are busy today.  I gave blood for a blood test, nothing crucial, just for a run of the mill doctor appointment.  We grabbed some food at Tim Horton’s.  We were then going to see our “niece” play at a piano recital.  She’s sick today so that was a no go.

Kim picked up some groceries while I waited in the car, we picked up Brewster who was staying with Sherry & James.

I made a juice for the week & the eggs just finished in the instant pot.

LYNYRD SKYNYRD

I really paid attention to them beginning in 2007, when I would take my iPod to work.  I’d listen to their double album of “Greatest Hits” & the new “Dream Theater” album “Systematic Chaos” close to 3 hours of my day, then I’d either find something else to listen to or work in silence with noise blocking earmuffs on.  Sometimes I’d just replay both of those albums.

Of course “Free Bird” was the encore song!

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.  “Dead Sara”, “Barenaked Ladies”, “Testament”, & “Matthew Good Band”

Friday ended with us watching “Hannah Gadspy” a Tasmanian comedienne.  It was more of a “Ted Talk” with humour added.  She spoke about what had gotten her to this point in her life, sexual abuse, 2 rapes, being a lesbian, coming out of the closet, etc.  Very entertaining.  She went on a rant at the end.  Kim was crying.  Lots of highs & lows throughout the show.  Really good show!  Quite a few “F – Bombs” throughout the show though.  None in this trailer though…

Saturday we went out in the afternoon Kim needed to take some photos for her photo class, dropped off Brewster & I.  She went for groceries.  I got this post started.  Kim came home with the groceries so I got moving & made my vegetable juice for the week.

Saturday evening we ordered in some Chinese food for supper & rented the movie “Boy Erased” about a son who is gay & his father is a pastor at a Christian Church.  The movie starts out with the son going to his first of 12 days at a conversion center.  I think this movie would be great if you also watch the movies “Red State” & “Spotlight”.  “Red State” could be difficult to watch with all of the language & violence.  “Boy Erased” is based on a true story.  I think every religious leader needs to wake up & see this movie.

I believe in God & consider myself a Christian. You know that part in the bible that says ‘…bring us your rich, poor, weak, & strong etc…’  Do we have to spell it out for others?  Do we need to adjust it to say “Everyone” including the LGBTQ community?  I really don’t care if you’re a part of a different religion, race, or sexuality or anything else.  Are you a good person?  If you are let’s hang out & be friends.

I was fired up watching that movie.  A lot of me commenting on the utter fear/stupidity of all of the homophobic characters.  It’s from 2018 and finishes saying there are still 700,000 conversion camps still in operation.  I don’t believe that sexuality is a choice, I believe it’s how you were born.  I didn’t choose to be straight, that’s how I was born.   Who makes gay people?  Straight people!

Woke up for lunch when Kim popped her head in the bedroom & said she was going to “Tim Horton’s”.  She’s done the laundry I believe, just eggs to hard boil & Kim wants to take some pictures in the house.  She left for “Tim Horton’s” & Brewster found that to be the perfect time to throw up twice once I made my way into the kitchen.  Poor guy, at least he knew to get off of his blanket & bed to throw up on the laminate floor.

Metal screaming is not easy.  You may not like it, but don’t say it’s easy!

I’ll believe it when I see it.  Does this mean Tool will start thinking about song ideas?

Just had to watch “Trivium” accept “Grammy Nominee Awards” of screen.  I’m assuming this is because they are a metal group, so they aren’t main stream music, ugh!

LYNYRD SKYNYRD

I will get to see them this year here in Regina!  I can’t wait!  When I was working I’d put on my iPod & just go.  One “Dream Theater” album “Systematic Chaos” was just released & “Lynyrd Skynyrd’s” double album of ‘Greatest Hits’ & I was good for 5 – 6 hours.  I’ll see them & my parents are anxious to see Randy Bachman.  I’ve been a ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ fan for a while, since 2006 or so.  All I have is their Greatest Hits album though.

5 day weekly total; 600 pushups, 360 tricep pushups, 150 back flexes, 400 leg lifts, 200 crunches, 240 squats.  Some walking also.

I fell asleep to “In Flames” the album “Colony”

I exercised to “Lynyrd Skynyrd” a double album of their Greatest Hits

BOOOOO!  No new wheelchair until August 28th!  BOOOOOO!

I now know what my problem has been all week.  Monday & Tuesday were the worst days of the week.  It got better as the week progressed.  Sunday night & Monday night I didn’t sleep well at all.  I actually had a nap on Wednesday afternoon, I fell asleep very quickly.  I’m usually wide awake for an hour when I hit the hay.  I was out cold on Wednesday afternoon, & at bedtime the last few nights.  Today I felt more like myself.  “Exhausted” from my workout, but it’s the weekend!

I would love to take a break but I really don’t know how to relax, so a break won’t help in that respect, & a break means more difficult work to get to where I am physically.

Many people have no clue what I can or can’t do.  Fair enough, I surprise myself sometimes regarding what I can or can’t do.  If I can’t do something on my own, I’ll ask for help & approach it a different way on my own next time, if I can’t do it on my own I’ll ask for help again, etc.  After multiple attempts I’ll decide if I need help each time or if I can do it on my own.

Blu-ray, DVD, & possibly 4K on September 7th!

REALLY!  I wish I was ½ that good!

Keep Calm & wait patiently new Tool is not finished yet.  It’s been 12 years, we can all wait some more.

I googled apple iTunes regarding the elimination of downloads from the iTunes store & found nothing solid that it will continue to exist or be phased out early next year.  Every link denounced the previous link.  So, I’m not sure what’s true & what’s not?  There are so many streaming sites out there, you’d think Apple would keep a download site open?  I don’t know about the cost of offering both streaming & downloading.  I personally would prefer to own my music through downloading it rather than streaming it.  Call me any name you like, I’ll cross that bridge if it happens.

“Opeth will release Garden of the Titans: Live at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on November 2nd via Moderbolaget Records / Nuclear Blast Entertainment. This historic event was captured for the DVD, Blu-Ray and Vinyl formats during their performance May 11th, 2017 at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver, CO. Both the DVD and Blu-ray formats include CDs containing the audio as well.”

Yep, I’ve struggled with depression for most of my life.  There is no shame if you need to talk to someone, even a complete stranger.  I’m on anti-depressants, no shame in that either.

Unwritten rule in the MLB!  You NEVER throw a fastball, for that matter a 97mph fastball, at a player!  The pitcher got a slap on the wrist with a 6 game suspension.  He’ll miss 1 start as a starting pitcher.  I say “OK, your seasons over!”

If you don’t want to pitch to him, give him an intentional walk or lob a curve ball at him if you’re angry.

“Got my ‘geek’ on”

Yes, we bought “Avengers: Infinity War” on Tuesday, & watched it for the first time EVER that night.  Great popcorn movie!  Check your brain at the door & be very entertained!  I did have a few minor issues with it though, well 3 if were keeping track.

The Story Line.

I hope George Lucas got some royalties for a portion of the writing.  I was thinking “Wow, I’ve seen a very similar story line throughout the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy.”  Father saves his child while the child must fight against father.

SCENE STEALING

Did they actually steal an early scene from ‘Batman vs. Superman’?  Near the beginning of the film?  Tony Stark runs into the street to find nothing but mayhem & everyone running for their life.  Same scene almost frame by frame of Bruce Wayne running into mayhem at the beginning of ‘Batman vs. Superman’.

VILLAINS

The main villain has an army much like the villain in ‘Justice League’.  The army in “Avengers: Infinity War” looked much like the ones in ‘Stranger Things, season 2’.  Maybe I was thinking too much?  These 3 things stuck out like a sore thumb to me, blatant rip-offs that they didn’t even try to hide.

Those were the only things about the movie that bothered me.  Other than that it was a FANTASTIC movie!  I enjoy both comic book titans, Marvel & DC.

I fell asleep to “Trivium” the album “Silence in the Snow” followed by “In Flames” the album “Sounds of a Playground Fading”

I exercised to “Slipknot” the album “5 The Gray Chapter”

500 crunches, 500 leg lifts, 375 pushups, 200 back flexes, & 25 minutes of planking.

That’s 100 crunches, 100 leg lifts, 75 pushups, 40 back flexes, & 5 minutes of planking each working day.

I think I figured out a portion, maybe all about a re-occurring dream I’ve been having since I was in the WRC.

I continually dream that I’m late for high school & I have an English paper that’s WAY overdue.  I get to school & have no clue as to what my locker combination is.

In University in 1999 my grandmother died of breast cancer.  I was a mess at the time.  I skipped out on an English final & drove to Moose Jaw & back instead.  With the 3rd Foo Fighters’ album that had just been released in November blasting the entire time.  My grandmother passed away on December 5th, 1999.

I guess that dream is more about me having some type of unfinished business to deal with?  Maybe it’s nothing & I’m reading too much into it?

No Trump talk!  You know what I think about him & you’re entitled to your own take on him!  I have never & will never condone violence to ANYONE.  If I thought it would change anything I’d give Trump a slap upside the head.

I’m typically not a political person.  Canadian politics bore me & I choose not to vote.  If I lived in the USA that would be different.  I watch too much CNN, since watching Trump lead the USA is much like his campaign x 100.

THAT’S ALL FOR THE CANCER TALK FOR NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s August, there’s very little music being released & not much for music news but here’s what I could find.

Audio interview with Chris Adler, drummer for Lamb of God.

Audio interview with Corey Taylor, singer for Stone Sour & Slipknot.

Audio interview with Royal Blood.

Poor camera man!  Kim & I just laughed & laughed & laughed………..

When I was working, I’d listen to my iPod a double album of “Lynyrd Skynyrd” their Greatest Hits & “Systematic Chaos” by Dream Theater, or the odd podcast.  One ear bud in my right ear, other one down my shirt.  Noise cancelling headphones on.  Those 2 albums would pretty much last my 8 hour shift.

A 2nd song from Jack Johnson!!!!!

A PBS concert\documentary regarding Foo Fighters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jose Bautista is too old to be the face of the franchise, he’ll probably ask for too much next year whoever he signs with & he’s a whiner.  Have fun on the Free Agent market at the end of the year, if you’re still with the Blue Jays at the end of August.

If Jose Bautista can hit 30 home runs this year, I still don’t think I’d renew his contract of $18,000,000.  Troy Tulowitzki & Jose Bautista would be the first of many players I’d try to dump on whoever wants to pay for a name.  Right there is $38,000,000 off the books of players not living up to their contracts!

My album of the year for whatever year it was, was “Nothing but Thieves” self-titled debut album.  Their 2nd album is being released on September 8th this year & here are the 3 singles they have released thus far…

It’s not close to hard rock, rock, or metal.  Lots of people my age & younger will not like this group.  I’m OK with that, for any music I listen to, I never said you had to like it.

August 25th new Queens of the Stone Age, September 8th Nothing But Thieves, Alter Bridge anthology, & Jack Johnson, September 15th Foo Fighters.  After that, who knows?

FACEBOOK IS SLOWING DOWN AS IT TENDS TO DO THE CLOSER WE GET TO THE HOLIDAYS!  THIS BLOG WILL BECOME LESS FREQUENT IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

Anyone who has been reading this knows I’m very anti-cell phone.  I don’t have a problem with a cell phone really, it’s more with the way some people choose to use them.  If I’m at a concert & someone is taking a video in my line of sight to the stage, please DON’T do that.  I paid as much as you did to watch a concert.  Not through your 4” screen on your cell phone.  If you want to video a song or 2 go ahead, take 3 or 4 pictures.  Please learn that other people are there & not taking a video of the entire show like you are.  Ask people around you if you’re blocking their view of the stage.  If you want to sit at the show & text with someone the entire time, that’s fine.  I don’t understand why you’d pay for a ticket to chat with people who aren’t there, but if that’s what you want to do, that’s fine with me.  Everyone will use their cell phone differently.  Just please learn live show etiquette?  YOU have every right to use your phone as you choose, maybe make sure it’s not a distraction to others near you?

If I get a cell phone, I’ll likely use it differently than you do.  I’ll use it my way & you can use it your way.  If we are bothering others, we’d better ask if how we’re using it is a problem.  You’re told to turn off your phone in theaters before the movie starts.  I think that rule should be at any live venue as well?
