I fell asleep to “Alter Bridge” their 2nd album “Blackbird” followed by “Green Day” the latest album “Revolution Radio” then “Live” the album “The Turn” released in 2014 with a new singer.  I didn’t sleep well last night between getting up to pee & just not being able to fall back asleep. I ended up sleeping until 9:00 am.  I prefer to get up at 7:30 am at the latest during the week.

I exercised to “Rage Against the Machine” 3 albums on shuffle.

2 things happened on November 8th 2016 in the USA.  America got their first orange President & late night talk show hosts got a pile of material for the next 4 years.

I keeping my exercise goals right where they are at the moment.  My pushups are the last exercise I do.  I leave them for the end because they are my most difficult exercise & they completely drain me.  Today’s pushups weren’t nearly as difficult as yesterdays.  Everything’s coming, it’s just a slow process.  Writing this blog kept me bluntly honest & that faded a bit.  The promise of breakfast is now included in keeping me honest.  I don’t lie about my exercise, I just needed more motivation.  So far it has been a good week aka I’ve reached my daily goals.  Sure they’re difficult & time consuming.  I’m not about to do nothing & plant myself on the couch.  I’ve got time to fix myself!  I’m not OK with the status quo for me.  I need & want to get better.  Somebody telling me I can’t do it or that I’m doing too much just makes me want to prove them wrong.

I know people with a job & kids don’t have the luxury of ample time to exercise as much as I do, & I don’t expect them to.  I’d say try to eat healthy & squeeze in some exercise if & when possible, even if it’s 5 minutes.  Turn on the TV, watch a ½ hour show while doing an exercise if you have energy after the kids are in bed.  You’ll have to make time for it though.  Exercise was the furthest thing from my mind until I HAD to do it daily, so I understand the lack of motivation & time most people have.

I hate exercising until I finish it.  That’s why I start it first thing in the morning.  Immediately out of the bedroom 60 squats, & hopefully my water bottle is full or else I fill it during my 3 minute rest period before I do 60 more quats.

This is mostly hearsay & vague memories.  I think I was 3 or 4 years old.  I had a Care bear, the yellow one with a sun on it’s stomach “Sunshine Bear” or “Funshine Bear” whatever it was called, that thing came with me everywhere!  I had just shown interest in watching hockey.  The Edmonton Oilers were the team to watch.  My parents took me to Edmonton, the bear came along too.  We went to see the Edmonton Oilers practice at the West Edmonton Mall rink.  Wayne Gretzky was there.  We watched the practice.  One of the players skate towards us & waved at us.  I asked my mom “Who is that?” she replied “That was Wayne Gretzky”.  I was confused, “Where are his 9s?”  Practice jerseys don’t have numbers on them, I found out the hard way?

We stayed overnight at a hotel.  On the way home I was devastated.  I lost my Care bear.  I’m guessing I was bawling?  My parents called the hotel, & they found it when cleaning the room.  They mailed the bear to us & all was well.

I really like Edmonton, other than that trip.  I was a kid who A) Didn’t recognize Wayne Gretzky & B) Lost his teddy bear!  Sad trip for a 4 year old!

Weird/early baseball game today?

I was looking at “Suicide Squad” to purchase.  I’ve heard nothing but bad things about the movie.  I look on iTunes & it’s rated terribly, Amazon reviews are very positive 4/5 stars.  Batman vs. Superman was rated terribly also, after seeing it in the theater, I bought it ASAP on iTunes & I’ve likely watched the “Ultimate Edition” 6 or 7 times.  Remember, I had 2 weeks without a computer.  I watched movies & read a lot.

I guess I do reviews in a way, “Check it out” or “Stay away” from this thing.  I guess that’s my take on whatever the subject is.  So I encourage you to check out whatever you like either on this blog or from a friend.  I’m not always right about what you may or may not like.  Batman vs. Superman is hands down the best comic book movie I’ve seen.  That includes “300” & “300 Rise of an Empire” or at least as good, but that’s just my take on it.

Oh, happy day!  Yesterday immediately after I posted the blog, I checked iTunes.  Highly Suspect finally had the preorder for their new (2nd) album, “The Boy Who Died Wolf”  LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EXERCISE WEEKLY TOTAL

I fell asleep to “Stitched Up Heart” the debut album/only album “Never Alone”, then “Stone Sour” about 1/3 of the album “Audio Secrecy” then the entire album “Come What(ever) May”

I exercised to “Bob Geldof” ½ of the album “Deep in the Heart of Nowhere”, then “U2” the entire album “Rattle & Hum”

8:07am & I’m done my workout that started at 6:30 am! I’m really tired, better than yesterday, but pretty tired!

Weekly total; 7500 crunches, 700 leg lifts, 310 push ups, 260 squats. Squats were the exercise that I had to slowly increase throughout the week.

80 squats, 1500 crunches, 140 leg lifts & 60 push ups everyday, 5 days a week. Got there with the Thursday exercises. Took longer than usual but I got there Thursday & Friday.

I should be careful! I tend to smack the back of my head while doing my crunches, that yoga mat I’ve been using for the last 3 months is very thin compared to the puzzle pieces I was using before! I’ve had a brain injury before & I survived, I’ll be OK, & more cautious!

The further away from December 31st, 2008, when I was declared cancer free by the doctors, the entire thing seems very insignificant. Sure, I’m in a wheelchair & somethings are difficult or impossible to do, I either have to figure out how to do it. Or just not think about it since it’s not something any physically disabled person can do. Here’s an example- I really liked hiking in Banff in 2000 or 2001 with Rob. Until/if I can walk, I don’t need to think about that. I need to focus on my exercises so I can eventually think about going hiking. At this point, I can do more things, than I can’t or at least it’s pretty even.

“Prophets of Rage” play surprise show outside of a California prison

I should probably clarify “The Tragically Hip” news. They’re not playing in Regina. The restaurant/bar will be airing the final show on CBC. I believe the show itself will be broadcast throughout Canada on CBC. It will be their final show as the singer, Gord Downie, has terminal brain cancer. Sad way to end a career.

I guess if I’m going to call “Batman vs. Superman” one of the best comic book I should add 2 others to that list. “Deadpool” & “Captain America:The Civil War”. All 3 are very different movies. “Batman vs. Superman” is very dark, Batman drops a couple of F-Bombs in the Ultimate Edition, he’s that angry. “Deadpool” is quite raunchy. Imagine if Kevin Smith wrote an action movie, I think that describes it best. “Captain America:The Civil War” is probably the best Avengers movie thus far. Better off NOT FOR KIDS! Yes, I like to have a plan for whatever is happening on a certain day or if there’s a certain event. 95% of the time it doesn’t work out according to anybody’s plan Life’s not a scheduled event. You’re born, & immediately people in your life usually do whatever is needed. I’m lucky to have 2 great familys. My family, Kim’s family & all of our friends! Something different will happen almost daily. We all need to take everything one day at a time. You know there is a good possibility that something will pop up & you’ll have to adjust your plan accordingly. I’ve never had a 5 year plan. I expected to have a 9-5 job, a couple of kids & an amazing wife! Only 1/3 of that plan worked out, it was that Kim is an amazing wife! Cancer changed the other 2 things. I had never planned on having cancer, who does? It hit me & everyone in my life, including me, had to adjust their plan. I never want to be a “burden” to anyone, but here I am with hundreds of really great people worrying about me. I’m fine, I’ve got this. If I need help I know you’re their to help me if I need it. So please don’t stress yourself out “worrying” about me? Hold my beer & watch this! I’ll call you if I need you or you call me if you need me? I worry way more about others than I do myself, that’s how I want to be! I think I’m somewhere in the middle though & I’ll likely be there until I become an “Avenger”?

I fell on my parents driveway on Friday & whoever saw it was ready to help me. I was fine, not even a scrape on me. That right there would be reason to panic, if I was bleeding, but I wasn’t. I got up immediately & got inside. You know what still hurts from Friday? When Brewster jumped on my lap & hit his tiny skull on my lip, no blood or anything visible, just a throbbing pain in my bottom lip! It’s a routine when we get in a car. He waits in the driver seat while I get my seat belt on, then I call him over to sit with me. He’s hit my jaw a few times & he’s overshot & hit his head on the window a few times.

Pentatonix shared it……………………

Friday is looking really good, music wise, not just the weekend. 2 albums for me!!!!!! “Third Ion” their 2nd album will be released that day “Biolith” & “Chevelle” will release the album “The North Corridor”

Quiet weekend here. Friday I had a doctor appointment, then Kim & I went out for brunch. I overate, felt bloated the rest of the day. Kim felt the same way & got a bad headache to go along with it. We stayed in & rented a George Carlin HBO stand up comedy show. Saturday night we stayed in as well and watched “Moneyball” with Brad Pitt on Netflix. Today we celebrated father’s day since my dad was in Winnipeg that day. Finger food, shrimp, deviled eggs, bruschetta, vegetables, dip & a fruit tray! My dad now has a drone to pilot from his cell phone. When we left everyone was alive, we’ll see what happens over the course of the week?

That Big Wreck song. That’s the only time I’ve ever broken a bone. I was at Edgefest in Saskatoon, a one day festival outside in the summer of 1999. Big Wreck was on stage & I was in the mosh pit @ the age of 19. I was holding up a crowd surfer & some other body came flying out of nowhere & used my face as a landing target. Immediately blood started pouring out of my nose. Shirt, shorts, & shoes were all covered in blood. Everybody in the mosh pit cleared out of the way for me to run to the closest security guard at the front of the stage. He picked me up as though I was s heavy as feather & pointed me to the first aid tent. I stayed there for a short amount of time & told the EMT I was OK & the blood had stopped. I wasn’t going to miss Big Wreck? I got up & left after a few questions from the EMT. I went out & stayed out of the pit, just behind the crowd. Big Wreck were still playing the same song!

Yep, I pushed it too far on Monday. Took it back a bit on Tuesday, & I’m good with the number I hit for leg lifts. Still more than it was last week, now my hip flexers don’t get sore. I have to remember to increase things at a minimal amount & take my time when I increase something.

I woke up yesterday & thought “Great it’s Friday!!…Crap it’s Tuesday”

Failure Anthem video, I’ve never heard of them before? Facebook is now how I find out about bands. Used to be Much Music. But they don’t play music much these days. Canada’s MTV. From what I can tell on iTunes, this is their first album, it was released in January. It rubs me the wrong way, but there it is if you want it!

That was quite the busy week for me! I purposely don’t leave the house much during the week. Saskatoon on Monday, Bushwakkers on Wednesday, my parent”s place on Friday, then a football game on Saturday = a tired me. Especially after sleeping on the couch Saturday night. Great weekend but oh my am I tired! No plans for this weekend……………………………………..yet.

I don’t think a TON of people are on www.youtube.com to look up “Sixx AM”. Unless I’m included for this blog? Yeah, I get it. They want the advertising, I don’t own any “Sixx AM” but if you put a youtube mix on, that is truly free music.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

OK so we know there was another shooting in Orlando in a gay night club. I think it’s terrible & flat out wrong. I haven’t opened facebook yet, but I’m sure that news will be everywhere. I don’t want to repeat the story from everyone. I’ll post 3 links of the shooting & leave it at that. Nobody needs to hear/see it over & over again. I’m not making light of it either. It’s bad news that can’t be changed. It was beyond stupid that a 27 year old male opened fire killing & injuring I think it was 40 people, just because they’re gay. If you don’t understand that they’re gay at least acknowledge it & get over it. They weren’t just gay, that was somebody’s son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, friend, father, mother, cousin, etc. You can’t label them as just gay, they’re humans, like we all are!

When I die, I don’t want to be remembered as “That guy who had cancer”! Quick & easy label. I want to be remembered as a friend, son, brother, husband, someday maybe an uncle, a son-in-law, etc. Not the guy that had cancer!

And boom. Orlando shooting news. How did society get this way? Maybe because so many people in the USA have a gun with them 24/7?

EXERCISE WEEKLY TOTAL

I fell asleep to “Kongos” the album “Egomaniac” yes, I got it last night at 10:00 pm

I exercised to “Foo Fighters” 60 B-Sides on shuffle.

Yes, this is also on facebook if you prefer.

Exercise total for the week ;7500 crunches, 600 leg lifts, 300 squats, & 250 push ups.

I prefer to get up by at least 7:30 am & get stuff done. Kim “…woke me up before…” she left for work at 7. I slept in until 8:30 and instantly felt like I was chasing the day already. I’ll have to ask her if she could wake me up when she gets in the shower & then when she leaves if I’m still in bed.

It’s pretty nice not being in a band, at the same time, I do miss it! It’s nice in that I don’t have to be on, I wasn’t really before. Alcohol before a show was a BIG no, no for me. It screwed up my throat. I would have a beer after the show. If we were headlining a show, I’d get to have a beer at 2:30 am. After hauling my gear from the venue. It was a fantastic hobby though!

Now I can relax & watch someone else do that, have whatever to eat or drink, & not worry about messing up the lyrics.

My body feels old, but my mind disagrees. I may be 36, but I have the mindset of an early 20 year old. I have never liked taking things too seriously. If you can’t laugh at yourself, stop laughing at someone else?

When “In Flames” released their album “Siren Charms” there was a lot of backlash from their die hard fans. Complaining that the band had gone soft & shouldn’t be labeled as a metal band anymore! How about the fans do it instead? Or go back to the earlier albums that they like? Being in a band for me was about making the music I liked. None of us did it for anyone else, at least I didn’t! If you don’t like doing what you’re doing, you’re doing it for a loved one or you’re doing the wrong thing?

New Red Hot Chili Peppers tune.

I only listen to 2 of their albums. I own 3 but they just aren’t a group I listen to much. I own “Californication”, “By The Way” & “Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic”, I didn’t even bother putting this last one on my iTunes.

The first band I was in, in University, covered this song. This is the album that was released 17 years ago, that made me feel so old.

The new Kongos album is the second iTunes purchase I’ve made since Kim signed up for Apple Music. Both purchases on iTunes since that time have songs that don’t work? Could anyone at Apple please fix this, I can’t or else I would. They launched Apple Music & our iTunes Match screwed up royally, so we canceled it. Now we have an Apple Music account, & iTunes is messed up again. This “back & forth” game with Apple seems to be a losing effort? I might just revert to buying CDs?

Who was ‘Spirit’ other than the band suing Led Zeppelin for plagiarism on “Stairway to Heaven”? Why are they suing now? Their song was released in 1969 or 1970? I think someone needs/wants money?
