Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.  “Ed Sheeran”, “Sum 41”, “Foo Fighters”, & “Iron Maiden”

“Foo Fighters” released a live EP with 6 songs from this show, only available on streaming sites?  I got it, despite my personal opinion regarding streaming sites.

Just when I think I’ve got our iTunes fixed, I realize there’s more work to be done.  On top of that, the A/C is back to where it began on June 28th, broken…again!  Too late to call now about it, I guess we sweat some more until Monday?  I noticed all of this Friday evening around 8:00 pm.

Wake up Saturday morning, Kim makes a trip to Tim Horton’s for coffee & I asked for a bagel.  I have my breakfast & she gets right to painting.  She turns on the A/C & it actually went down a degree.  Is it broken or is it fixed?  I may live “…in the land of the ice & snow…” in the summer in Canada it gets HOT outside, & just as hot inside our place.  In the winter we can’t turn on the A/C but our windows face south.  So if you’re cold in the winter, bring a bottle of rum, we can share it & pretend we’re in Jamaica.

Saskatchewan Roughrider football game Saturday night.  A win for the home team after a dreadful game 2 weeks ago.  While we’re discussing the Roughriders, I’ve made a decision.  I’ve been attending every home game since before I can remember.  Whenever I was old enough for my grandfather to hold me on his lap, before kindergarten I know.  I’m know 39 years old & of course I missed the games while in the hospital.  It’s very sad to say, but next season will be my last as a season ticket holder.  If the Grey Cup/Championship game wasn’t here next year, this would be my final season.  It’s become a financial burden what with the rise of ticket prices, food & beverages, all for the new stadium.  I like being in the stadium, it’s just too much money for us in our situation.  I can watch the games on TV & a pop won’t cost $6 or $9 for a beer.  At least at home the beverages & food are prepaid.

Finished fixing my iTunes finally & we’ll call the plumbers first thing tomorrow.  Kim & her sister drove to their aunt’s place in Kinistino, 3 hours north, for a birthday party & are back this evening.  Brewster & I did our thing, he slept & I watched baseball.

Our air conditioning is being weird in that it shut down Friday evening, yet today it works fine?  Then stops working around 2:30 in the afternoon.  That’s our weekend in a “….nutshell….”

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I will now cry & take a moment for myself & Chris Adler.

Not a great way to end a Friday^^.  L

October 15th says Kevin Smith.  I can’t wait, I’m all in!  “Jay & Silent Bob Reboot”!!!!  LOTS OF LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still think this is the most over rated album of all time.  I understand many people love it, & I’m the odd one out.  Could be that I’ve heard the opening of “Welcome to the Jungle” at every Rider game since it was released in 1987?  I stopped listening to the rock radio station because they play songs from this album & early “Rush” songs full of synthesizer.  I own this CD, it’s in a box behind me & not on my iTunes or iPod.

I do listen to quite a bit of “Rush” post 1980 only though.

I have her album “21”.  That’s all I have for her music.  I very rarely listen to it though.  Despite having a FANTASTIC voice, it didn’t stick around for very long with me.  I guess it’s more of the fact that she’s out of my typical listening area.  Too far out of my little box despite her talent.

The more you share this, the more readers I get.  No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.  I can’t tell who’s reading this but thank you! Word of mouth is the only way of promoting this.

I fell asleep to “Trivium” the album “The Sin & the Sentence” followed by “Dead Sara” both full albums on iTunes that I bought yesterday

I exercised to “I Mother Earth” the album “Scenery & Fish”

Weekly exercise total; 720 pushups, 560 leg lifts, 300 crunches, 240 squats, 180 tricep pushups, & 120 back flexes.  I took shorter rest periods again today.  Every day I do my exercises I A) Make sure I’m doing them all properly & B) Try to take shorter rest periods between sets.

This week was pitiful in my opinion.  I expect more from myself.  I am often my worst critic though.  You might think differently, but that’s only 3/5 days.  I stayed up until the early morning on Saturday cleaning up the kitchen, then I was over tired on Monday & couldn’t sleep.  I need to remember I’m not in my early or mid-30s anymore, & I can’t burn the candle at both ends anymore.

Another appointment next week after having 2 this past week.  Another in the summer at some point.  I hope the one in the summer is my last one there?  The appointment next week will be a reoccurring checkup/refills on the pills I take.

Unless I get a call before then, everything should be fine.  I think, if my cancer was to come back it would have already.  The doctors thought it might “come back” in 2013.  That was 5 years ago, I think I’m “in the clear”.

Sometimes it takes a brush with death to finally wake up.

They’re lumped in with the grunge movement.  They were based in San Diego & got together in 1989.  I have everything from the 1992 release “Core” all the way up to & including “Stone Temple Pilots (2018)”.  I have mostly CDs of this group & I think the recent 2 albums from iTunes.  I really didn’t get into them until a few years ago.  I had a bunch of their CDs, & didn’t realize I had all of their stuff on CD & amongst my iTunes library.  Yes, the singer, Scott Weiland, died of either alcohol or a drug overdose a few years ago.  The band carried on with an EP with Chester Bennington who felt it was too much for him with his role in “Linkin Park” also.  Unfortunately he died as well not to long ago.

CORE 1992

I’m pretty sure this was about the album that caught my attention.

  1. 4 1999

HIGH RISE w/ Chester Bennington        2013

This last album is with their new singer Jeff Gutt.  Runner up on the show “The X Factor”.  Well he didn’t win.  Who did?  This is exactly why I’m opposed to these talent contest shows.  He got the last laugh though.

Stephen Colbert’s musical guest Tuesday night was Paramore!

Well, they’re not gone just in serious debt.  I like “Gibson/Epiphone” guitars.  All of this hipity dipity music the young kids are listening to did this.  Is “Fender Guitars” next?  Will “PRS (Paul Reed Smith) Guitars” become the next BIG thing for guitar players?

100 best debut albums.  No, Nirvana’s “Nevermind” was their 2nd big release after the album “Bleach”

I’ll have to gradually increase my exercise.  1000 crunches so 200 a day.  300 leg lifts, 60/day.  150 stretching pushups, 30/day.  200 calf raises, 40/day.  I haven’t done squats or pushups yet.  I would rather wait until my nerve pain is completely gone.  We walk, but only in our suite, my foot tingles if I’m standing for too long.  So at the moment we’ve hit pause on waking in the parkade.

I’m aiming for 500 squats, pushups, & leg lifts a week & 7000 crunches a week.  That’s only 1400 crunches a day.  I was doing 1500 a day, I’m sure 1400 isn’t out of the question.  I’ll have to increase everything gradually though.  I was walking 800 meters with my walker & Kim once a week, I’ll likely have to slowly increase that as well.  This nerve pain is almost gone, when it is I’ll get back to reality.

I fell asleep to “Ascot Royals” everything on their 2 albums.

I exercised to “Big Wreck” all of it on shuffle.

Yes, I saw “Ascot Royals” open for “Big Wreck” last night at the casino.  AWESOME show.  I started listening to “Ascot Royals” last week & they’re AWESOME live as well as recorded.

I’ve never came out of a “Big Wreck” concert disappointed.  They’re not hard rock or metal, just straight up rock music, same with “Ascot Royals”.  Dave & Liz came with my dad & I.  Yes, my dad & I will have to call each other if we’re meeting in public.  He’s seen Foo Fighters 3 times & Big Wreck twice & we both get T-Shirts.  Can’t be out in public wearing the same shirt……………fashion faux pas!

I think last night was my 12 or 15th time seeing Big Wreck?  Their 1st album was released in ’97 I was only 17 & underage to see them in a bar.  When I turned 19, they were here 3 or 4 times a year & I never missed a show.  They broke up in 2002 after recording their 2nd album.  They reunited in 2012, & have released a total of 5 studio albums & a live EP with a cover song.

If “Big Wreck” is in Regina, I’m there.

It was nice to see that I’m not the only person who disapproves of cell phones at a concert.  Lead singer, Ian Thornley, had 4 or 5 people in front of him, right at the stage.  They all had their smartphones with them taking selfies & videos.  Between songs he addressed them.  He basically said to please put their phones away because the band sees them & then they “act” instead of playing music for people.  “Do my pants make me look weird?  This side’s my better side.  Gotta smile for the camera, etc.”  I guess they missed the announcement before the show?  “Here’s a song pre-smart phone” is how he introduced the next tune from their first album released in 1997.  The fans put their phones away & everything was good.

You turn off your phone at a movie theater, you smoke outside everywhere.  Why is this cell phone thing so hard?  We were in the balcony & it wasn’t a problem up there.

I hit all of my exercise numbers.  The only 1 of the 4 that likely will stay where it is are the crunches.  Pushups, squats, & leg lifts all went up today.  I’ve raised the daily amount on those 3 & I hit them all.  I wanted to curl up in the fetal position and cry for a bit, but that would be a waste of my time.

Brewster has a little bump on his left ear flap & he couldn’t stop scratching at Sunday evening.  Kim’s going to call the Veterinarian today to see when we can get him in for an appointment.  I’m not frantically worried yet, just very concerned.  I can’t fix it but he tried to scratch his ear 6 or 7 times in a 10 minute span last night.  It really bugs him.  He is sleeping quite a bit.  He sleeps most of the day usually, that’s normal.  When Kim is home from work, he has more energy in those 2 minutes after she walks in the door & sprints from one end of the house to the other & almost knocks her over when she gets on her knees.  That’s normal & happens Monday-Friday.  2 or 3 nights a week we “wrestle”/ play for 30-60 minutes.  He still does all of these things.  The odd thing is he falls into a deep sleep by 7:00 pm.  That’s weird!

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver!  The funniest thing about Donald Trump is his immigration policy!  There’s a 100% chance his ancestors immigrated to America.  Most Caucasians are from the U.K. or Europe somewhere down the line.  George Washington should have denied immigration to the USA to the Trump family!  Hahahahahaha!

More John Oliver

Heroin addicts are given methadone as a substitute, it’s a pain killer.  My doctor had me taking 2.5 mgs a day.  As he was weening me off of it I felt terrible.  I was medically addicted to it.  I didn’t crave it or felt that I needed it.  In the 5 weeks I was weening off of it, I was in bed, constantly on the edge of throwing up.  When I was done with it, my doctor told me I was the first person he had ever gotten off of that much methadone.  Corey & I saw “Jay & Silent Bob get old” on Saturday.  Jason Mewes, Jay, of “Jay & Silent Bob”, was addicted to heroin 6+ years ago.  Kevin Smith, Silent Bob, writer, director, editor, & actor, would drive Jason Mewes to the methadone clinic every morning for I don’t know how long.  Then they would get a donut.  When I was on methadone, I also had a donut once a day.  It must induce a sugar craving as a side effect I’m guessing?

^^This movie bombed at theaters, just because of no foul language in it.  His other movies are rated R.

Yeah, the last 2 Sum 41 albums are REALLY good hard rock albums!  “Screaming Bloody Murder” & “13 Voices”

Don’t feel as though you have to click on every link.

Friday evening we stayed in & rented “The Shallows” from iTunes.  I thought & Kim thought it would be awesome!  I guess we both had really high expectations for, here’s a quick rundown of the film.

Jaws+127 Hours+Castaway-Sharkweek=The Shallows

In the first 15 minutes she broke ALL of the rules when swimming in the ocean.  She played the role of a surfer from Texas, who apparently has never watched any of the episodes during “Shark week” on the discovery channel.  I’m just assuming her family doesn’t have the discovery channel or Netflix?  1.  Don’t swim alone.  2.  Tell others where you’re going.  3.  Don’t bleed in the water.  4.  Don’t swim during the evening.  5.  Don’t try to survive on top of a whale carcass that’s floating & has been half eaten

Most of the dialogue in the trailer must’ve hit the editing room floor?

Saturday was Kim’s birthday.  I felt guilty, I was a bad husband.  Went to a Saskatchewan Roughrider game.  Dad & I were soaked, my feet got cold & wet from all of the rain.  We left at half time.  Our rain gear didn’t really help much!  I had to change EVERYTHING & put a towel on my wheelchair.  I haven’t left a game that early since the “Labour Day Classic” in 2008.  Andy Fantuz brought me an autographed jersey in the hospital & 2 tickets to the game.  It was windy, cold, & raining.  So we left at half time.

Saturday night I saw “Jay & Silent Bob get old” at the casino with Corey.  In my defense, we bought the tickets months ago & it was on a different date.  They changed the date & it happened to land on Kim’s birthday?  It was HILARIOUS!  Quite offensive if you don’t like Kevin Smith movies.  He just finished directing an episode of “The Flash” & is part way through directing an episode of “Supergirl” in Vancouver.  In the spring he’ll be filming his own movie “Moose Jaws” in Moose Jaw.  He was here since he was scouting locations to film in Moose Jaw.

Sunday we went out for brunch, mom, dad, Mitch, Rachel, Kim, me, & Grandma  & Grandpa.  Quite a few birthdays fall in a 3 week span, better off doing them all at once!

Now I have to get to some laundry!  YAY……………………..said no one ever.

Friday we stayed in & I watched the Toronto Blue Jays DEMOLISH the Baltimore Orioles 13-3 in the first game of a 3 game series in Baltimore! Saturday’s game, a loss, 4-2, same teams different pitchers, Sunday I’ll see what happens? Oddly enough Jose Bautista is injured & hasn’t played, yet the $20 million/year SS is back as of Saturday & they lost? This small sample screams dump Tulowitzki & Bautista at the end of July, the trade deadline. Even today they lost with their all-star SS. He’s not hitting like they expected yet. He’s really good defensively very sure handed. I hope he starts hitting soon or I’d be sending him off. If Jose Bautista & Edwin Encarnacion are going to be re-signed, I think it would have happened by now. The Blue Jays can see what the two guys are offered by other teams, & go on from their.

Saturday evening we met Corey, Jolene & Hannah at Fatburger. Yes, the restaurant is appropriately named. We came home & Kim picked a chick flick to rent with a very underwhelming end. I didn’t watch “The Sopranos” series but I heard that the finale was terrible & basically faded to black when a beat down looked as though it was going to happen. Whatever that movie was called, was very similar. Even Kim was sadly disappointed. “You picked the movie”. That’s all I said or else I’d be in deep doodie right now. Yeah, today Kim did some laundry & we both just sat on the couch, oh & I guess I did make a pitcher of blended fruit & vegetables today. Fairly quiet weekend here.

I’ve listened to Stitched Up Heart probably a dozen times now & it’s really good to my ears. They’re a female fronted vocalist band right on the edge of rock & metal. When Kim’s at work I play my music & watch my TV or Movies that she doesn’t care for. Takes me about a week to watch a movie though. Exercise, Brewster & whatever else take priority.

I don’t see myself as physically handicapped. Probably because I can be very stubborn. A few years ago I would agree that I was physically handicapped. Yes, I need assistance with certain things, as time goes by though, there are fewer things I need help with.

Kim was helping me walk last night. We put Brewster in our parked vehicle in the parking garage, he’s like having a child, in that he can’t be left alone. I was waiting in the lobby for Kim to come back from putting Brewster in the vehicle. In the meantime I struck up a conversation with another person about the age of Kim & I, maybe a bit younger? She was also in a wheelchair. We didn’t speak for long, our parking spot isn’t too far away at all. I asked “Can I ask what put you in a wheelchair?” She replied & said “Car crash”. We didn’t speak much after that because of limited time.

What I took away from that conversation was that anyone’s life can change in a millisecond from anything. Be it winning the lottery, starting off in a new school, getting off a plane somewhere you’ve never been before, being diagnosed with any life threatening disease or being involved in any accident, etc. Life is whatever you make of it. You’re born & you’ll die. Everything in between is up to you.

Ah, “Suits” back for another season! It was on Bravo last night, a pleasant surprise from our DVR. We watch too much TV as it is, but I missed that show more than I thought.

I get anxious for the weekend as well. I get to spend more time with Kim, I always look forward to hanging out with her! Especially since she’s been working a bit of overtime the last couple of weeks. It’s dark when she leaves & dark when she comes home. I miss her being around. Brewster’s fun n’ all, but there isn’t a lot of back & forth in our conversations. It usually ends up with one of us rolling over for a belly rub………………….& it’s not always Brewster.

I was sure there was to be a full length album by ‘Stone Temple Pilots’ with Chester Bennington of ‘Linkin Park’ on lead vocals. Not just the 5 song EP they did? I guess I was wrong? It’s not on their website, Facebook page, or iTunes, my bad!

I have a hard time believing Scott Weiland, as much as Axl Rose. This I likely the only song I like by “Velvet Revolver”. 1980s rock/hair metal I just can’t get on board with? I have this on CD but it’s not on my computron. I listened to it a few times, learned to play & sing this tune. Then never listened to it again. All when it was first released in the summer of 2004 or so.

Ian Fletcher Thornley doin’ his thing, being AWESOME!! His solo album is now out! Acoustic guitar, banjo & I think I heard some mandolin on there. Great album to chill out too!

I’ve been watching “Red State” by Kevin Smith. Freaky, bleak movie, you wouldn’t expect that Kevin Smith has anything to do with it. Basically it’s a religious cult that kills what they think are sinners aka homosexuals & they’re OK with that? But how dare the county authorities kill members of the Church? Great movie, very vulgar & violent. Kim has it on her vito list so I can’t watch it hen she’s home. Fair enough I vitoed some of her movies. “Red State” is rated R so beware! I think the trailer is OK? I can’t believe there are still people like this out there!

Paul Stanley (KISS) address’ gay rumour. Why does he have to address his private life?

But Donald Trump on SNL will be HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE!

Got this link from my brother about the I Mother Earth single. I’m going to wait for it on iTunes, here is their previous single.

Today’s workout was brought to you by “Queens of the Stone Age” on shuffle. Everything but the Greatest Hits album & ‘Era Vulgaris’

Yes, I saw “Finger Eleven” at The Pump Roadhouse. More cash to see a band in a bar than anyone should ever pay RIDICULOUS! I’ve seen probably 4 or 5 live shows at The Pump. It’s likely not the best live venue in town. Site lines to the stage aren’t very good if you’re seated at a table. Even if you’re standing near the middle or back of the crowd it’s not that great. I didn’t really “see” Finger Eleven last night, I heard them. I sort of expected not to be able to see them, so that really wasn’t a big deal. They did start their set with a bang and a bit of Pink Floyd near the end. The first time I saw Finger Eleven, they were opening for I Mother Earth on the “Blue Green Orange” tour in either late ’99 or early 2000

I solidified my reason for not listening to any local radio station. Before the show Regina’s rock station was playing a ton of post-grunge rock & all of it was terrible for me anyways. I did hear/see one video that was good though, before the show started on time @7 like the tickets said. Only an hour & a half late? ( 8:30 )

Little bit of this near the end!

We heard 2 great songs from their first album as well

I’d like to know if anybody at the show last night had a clue that Finger Eleven “Walking in my Shoes” from their 2nd album, is a Depeche Mode song?

Too bad my brother had to miss seeing his favourite band live due to work training. Sorry Mitch, you missed a good one.

There were 3 bands in total, each played a cover song. The first band played a snippet of a Led Zeppelin song that I can’t remember. He 2nd band played “Come Together” as my dad said in the car after, “I wonder if anyone in the crowd knew that was a cover?”

I guess Canadian punk rockers “GOB” are back? I saw their video on screen while waiting for the show to start. Now they sound like that generic post-grunge music, completely different than their early 2000s & late ’90s sound….

This video was on one of the TVs last night too. Took me back to 2000

Actual video

I wasn’t a fan of GOB, but it’s sad to hear a band completely change their sound in order to survive in the music business today? It could also be that their new sound is what they want to do now?

Toronto Blue Jays won yesterday so it’s back to Kansas City for game 6 of the ALCS

Unfortunately for the Chicago Cubs “Back to the Future” got it wrong. They lost last night in an elimination game against the New York Mets. The Cubs will not win the or even play in the World Series as predicted in Back to The Future. Nice run sorry it’s over Cub fans.

Bruce Willis is all in for “Die Hard” prequel!

2 things happened on this day in 2002. It was the first birthday for Kim that I was a part of, we started dating in April of 2002. Foo Fighters released their 4th album “One by One” on the same day. I bought copies immediately after class at SIAST. 1 for Kim & 1 for me, yes, I got her something else as well.

More “Star Wars” news. If Kevin Smith is involved in writing, directing &/or acting in a movie, I’m in. Is “Luke Skywalker” turning to the “Dark Side”?

I think Dave Mustaine, of Megadeth, is in a bad mood? LANGUAGE!!!!!!!

25 essential Pearl Jam moments

In the summer of 1998 I worked with a plumbing company out of Moose Jaw, installing duct work & AC in an Extendicare in Regina. Every morning we’d start at 6:00 before it was too hot in the attic. I’d pull up to work blasting Pearl Jam’s album “Yield”

Stuff like this makes me wonder how those people got their job & how they can forget about it & live with themselves?

I’m really enjoying the new “Pentatonix” album

Alter Bridge’s ‘Blackbird’ has been voted to have the best guitar solo of all time? I like Alter Bridge, but this is laughable! It’s not the first time I’ve heard this either! I heard another outfit had declared the same thing in 2010?

Nobody thought about this or any other famous solos?

Phillip Anselmo’s other projects outside of ‘Pantera’ just seem wrong & not as appealing to me. LANGUAGE!!!!

Songs I like, “Stone Temple Pilots” they announced in January that they were “…95% done recording the new album..” with Chester Bennington of “Linkin Park” on vocals. They’re touring, yet no release date for the album?

Metallica on charity drive for flood victims in Texas.

I’ve just recently became aware of this group, here’s a purchase sale on their website

Top 10 Rob Zombie songs. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover, he’s quite intelligent & a fantastic interview.

He truly is a modern day Alice Cooper, a highly intelligent shock rocker. I’ve seen Alice Cooper live in Regina in 2004 as well as Rob Zombie opening for Ozzy in 2007 in Saskatoon.

^^A guy who doesn’t take his lifestyle for granted!

Alex Lifeson of Rush hopes to play new shows after what has been called their “final tour”

I like Rush very talented. I like their stuff post 1985. Sounds like a better mix on the recordings to me a lot like Primus, very talented but I can’t stand Les Claypool’s voice (the singer/bass player).

Muse ‘Drones’ album track by track. This could possibly be my album of the year? This, Lamb of God or Barenaked Ladies?

Part 9 of Barenaked Ladies in the studio. The making of ‘Silverball’ LANGUAGE AT THE START!!

Song below.

I don’t care who’s doing what with anything related to ‘Star Wars’ just don’t screw it up. No more Jar jar Binks either.

I’d have to agree with Kevin Smith (actor/director/writer/editor) Episode III Revenge of the Sith & Episode V The Empire Strikes Back are the most dark & best movies of the ‘Star Wars’ franchise. For me anyways. Yes I have the 6 movies on DVD, before blu-ray were the in thing, with one bonus DVD of bonus material. This is me nerding out.

I like ‘Florence & The Machine’ I just don’t own any of their music! It’s music I’d buy & never listen to.

‘My Morning Jacket’ on Conan!

Can McCallum hit a goal post like our Saskatchewan Roughrider kicker Milo can? Do we get bonus points for that? We should & we’d be in the Grey Cup!!!!!

Big Wreck is Canada’s Soundgarden. Weird guitar tunings, weird time signatures and both could easily pull off a cover from the other group. Yes, I like both groups.

Scott Stapp (Creed singer) is angry about Alter Bridge. Mark Tremonti (guitarist) says he’s busy with Alter Bridge & his solo project.

Dave Grohl’s everyday routine on Ellen.

Very cool mash up! Guns n’ Roses & Foo Fighters. ‘Sweet Times o’ Mine’

All of this much ado about nothing over Caitlyn Jenner (formerly known as Bruce Jenner). Can I ask how this directly affects you or your lifestyle? “Oh, it changed my opinion of him/her so much”. OK, how? Didn’t change me at all & now he/she is comfortable as transgender. I would think it only affects the family members and her/him? Media backlash? Who cares, don’t read it. A bold & brave move by a person in the public eye.

Weird but cool at the same time. Guy plays & sings “Yesterday” by The Beatles while having brain surgery.

Corey Taylor of ‘Slipknot’ recalls near death experience

Songs I like! “Incubus” I own 2 CDs from way back when. They have quite a few on iTunes, their new one sounds OK. I don’t listen to them much.

New one is a 4 song EP. https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/trust-fall-side-a-ep/id963223745
