I watched a movie on Saturday, a long movie.  I can’t believe I spent that much time on the couch watching TV.  I’ll easily watch a televised 3 hour long baseball game, recorded & with a guitar in hand usually.  It doesn’t take 3 hours if you’re fast forwarding through the commercials though.

I watched the Zach Snyder cut of “Justice League” it was FANTASTIC!  WAY better than the original release with only about 20-25 minutes of footage from the original release.  So why wasn’t it the initial release?  Because its 4:02:?? hours long & there wasn’t as much footage of the super heroes in their super hero outfits.  If you’ve ever seen the movie “300” that was the vibe you got from this version, a MUCH deeper story, & more regarding the origin of “Flash” & “Cyborg”.  MUCH darker than I’d ever expect from a super hero movie.  Tied up the story better as well as leaving things wide open for future movies.

Regarding the photo of the guitar I received last week.  I know I look grumpy and unimpressed.  So not the case though.  Any new guitar day is AMAZING & I’m always very blessed to have any guitar!  Just because I look disappointed on the outside doesn’t mean that I’m not filled with joy! That’s just my resting Chris face.

While I was watching the movie all day Saturday, Kim was being responsible & smart doing our taxes.  I’m pretty easy, I bring in no income other than from the government.  No income = no tax.  We saved a lot of money during the year that shall not be named.  After Kim did our taxes & double checked over the phone Sunday morning, apparently the Government saved a lot of money too.  I thought she got the short end of the stick last year, OH HOW WRONG I WAS.  With Kim working on contract she should be paying tax every paycheck, unfortunately she forgot about it last year.  Ah well, we’re done with extravagant purchases this year & maybe the guitar I was going to order in December gets pushed a little further away?  I was hoping to use the money from the sale of my 7 string towards the S2 McCarty 594 but we’ll figure it out along the way.  We’ll know more in a month & December we’ll decide what is needed where.  This means our condo will not be for sale next year.

So here’s hoping this is still in production when I go to order it next year?  It should be since it was put into production in January 2020.  I’ll figure it out when I go to order it.  January is the BIG trade show for music companies in L.A. called NAMM.  That’s when companies introduce new products while eliminating a few others.  Yes I’m streaming music & I still don’t like the idea of me doing that.

There’s not a cheaper alternative for this guitar like the other two have.  There’s only the MUCH more expensive & less desirable 1959 Gibson Les Paul ($3000 +) reissue or the even more expensive Core PRS ($5000+) of this model.  There is NO WAY I’ll spend $3000 on a guitar though, they’re both not viable options.  After this purchase the last 2 guitars significantly diminish in price, especially the made in Canada Godin Radiator.  The most meaningful part of this guitar is that it’s made in Canada.  I don’t know of any other quality guitars made in Canada at that price point.

The blue PRS S2 McCarty 594 was introduced to the more affordable S2 line in January 2020.  I’ve been told the white Schecter Tempest is new as of this January.  The Godin Radiator design has been in production since 1999, apparently this is part of a new line though & I can’t find when this line was created?

After Kim checked on our taxes “Sunday Morning”, she picked up our groceries and I spent most of my day in the kitchen.  I made my usual juice, eggs, & fish for the week.  Brewster now eats raw stewing beef.  He’s 15 years old & getting picky about what he eats.  It’s supposed to be good for his dry skin & he likes it and eats it with no hassle.  The only other thing he’s ever interested in eating is whatever I’m eating.  Kim & I could be eating the exact same meal, but he knows who’s more likely to share with him.

I cut up some stewing beef on Saturday to make a few meals for him.  We cut up the beef into little bight size pieces (5mm X 5mm) for him so he’ll actually not get it caught in his throat and maybe chew it.  We then put little bags of meat in meal size portions in the freezer.  I cut up 1 ½ pounds of beef for him this weekend but it felt like 20 pounds because it took so long, especially when he’s sitting on the floor right beside me quietly growling just to let me know he’s there, for a solid hour.

Brewster hates it when I’m in the kitchen.  He’s usually freaking out frantically checking each room and growling or following me very closely making sure I’m doing everything right.  I think on Sunday I was in the kitchen for a good 3 hours straight getting everything together for the week & taking care of the dishwasher.  Brewster shadowed me most of that time.

I didn’t watch the Grammy Awards because I know the categories I’m interested in wouldn’t be televised.  I only know about this issue because it’s everywhere on the internet.  These people have every right to perform this way in a free society.  Everybody complaining about it also has the right to change the channel or not watch it.  Too many people decided to watch it for the freedom to be malicious & complain.  Get over it, you’re really going to complain about a 4:30 minute portion of TV?  Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion thank you for boosting the success of their performance with every comment, positive or negative.  I watched on the internet to see what everybody’s commenting on, I’m sure I won’t be the only one.

The number of active Covid-19 cases in Regina are ridiculously high right now!  Just wait until March 29th, 2 weeks after St. Patrick’s Day.  We never leave the house, we did go for a drive this week for a “milkshake” but it was more just to get out of the house.

I don’t have a milkshake & if I think I do, nobody comes to my yard!  I figured out ‘Layla’ by “Eric Clapton” it was just a matter of memorizing it, & now practicing it into the ground.

Not as fun to play as this song by “Pearl Jam”.  I would have never tried this without multiple guitars because it’s in open D tuning.

I spent Monday learning 3/7 modes on guitar.  A major scale with a certain note or 4 notes that are either sharp or flat.  I’ll be working on these for quite a while, beginning as soon as this is posted.  I’ll work on them individually.  Spend a LOT of time on one, memorize it, apply it, & on to the next one.

I’d post a video of my playing but I really tense up when the camera’s on, guitar or no guitar.  Cameras are really not my thing.  I will gladly make a stupid face, obscene gesture, or whatever I can to not have the photo seen.  It is one of my least comfortable moments.

I was falling asleep listening to some “Big Wreck” I think, but I woke up to “Seether” playing ‘Careless Whisper’ by “WHAM!”  I’m pretty sure I don’t have much if anything by “Seether” on my iPod touch?  I must have bumped it during the night?

Nope the iPod thing happened again Sunday night.  REALLY hacker!!!  Get another hobby already!

As for the song ‘Careless Whisper’ by “WHAM!”….I guess thank you “Deadpool” for reviving “WHAM!”?

No I haven’t listened to “Stitched Up Heart” the debut album “Never Alone” a dozen times, only 10 times since I went to bed Thursday evening, I do quite enjoy it though & recommend it to those who like heavy music, it’s right on the line between metal & rock. It has both types of songs & a healthy mix of the 2 in most songs. This single is a good example of what to expect from the album…

I like this current trend of female vocalists fronting heavier bands, I hope this continues.

I felt a little more patriotic this weekend as I listened to The Tragically Hip more. I only own 4 of their CDs. Their final concert will air on CBC on August 20th . For those who don’t know, the singer, Gord Downie, has terminal brain cancer. The Tragically Hip are Canada’s crown jewel. I’m not sure of their success outside of Canada? Most people in Canada will know their name if mentioned, few may not enjoy their music but will know the name! I’m a very casual fan, I like them but I don’t go bananas when I hear of a new album or tour. Like I said I only own 4 of their 20-30 albums on CD. It will be sad to see them pack it in knowing they wont be back. They are VERY representative of Canada, & what it means to be Canadian!

When they release a single from a new album, there’s a good chance it will at least reach the top 10 on the Canadian rock charts! The Tragically Hip are mostly my generations Canadian musical icons, there are others out there!

I got up today & really didn’t feel up to anything. I did get up around 7:00 am while Kim was rushing out the door for work. I didn’t feel like exercising I watched a little bit more of the Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers documentary on Netflix, that’s why I listened to their greatest hits album. Apparently producer, Jimmy Iovine (American Idol music producer), recorded with them on their first album “Damn the Torpedoes” was recorded at Sound City, the studio that Dave Grohl recently made a documentary about since that’s the same studio Nirvana recorded “Nevermind” in. This song was written by Dave Stewart of The Eurythmics for Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac & ended up on Tom Petty’s album.

I think that we’re always learning something. You have a computer on you somewhere (your phone) if you really want to, you can learn something “right now”.

News like this is just terrible. Very similar to the Lamb of God documentary/situation in 2012.
