Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

CATCH YOU FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Music throughout the weekend.  “Trivium”, “Foo Fighters”, “Iron Maiden”, “Lamb of God”, & “Billie Eilish”

Great weekend!  We celebrated my parents’ 120th birthday.  My parents were high school sweet hearts from grade 9 on at the same high school both my brother & I attended at separate times, he’s 7 years younger than me.  I was in grade 7 when he was in kindergarten.

Anyways, my parents got married at the age of 19 in November of 1978.  I’m not a child that was born or consummated out of wedlock aka I’m not a bastard.  I was born in January of 1980, yeah I’ll be 40 next year.  I was born the year my parents turned 21 but I have the first birthday of the year in our immediate family.  When I started going to school my parents were the youngest parents around.  When my brother was born 7 years later, they fit in with other parents, age wise.

My parents celebrated their 40th anniversary last year & their 120th birthday party this year with family & friends.  They both turn 60 this year.  Dad’s birthday was in April & Mom’s birthday is near the end of the month.

It was a backyard BBQ at their house.  My cousin, my brother, Kim, & Rachel all planned it with a list of requested guests from my parents.  Hello social media!  My brother is somewhat out of commission after intense surgery on his spine for the bone spurs on his shoulders that could have caused other serious issues.  He & Rachel were occupied with that.  He’s good, just a long recovery.  His surgery was a month or two ago.  My cousin & I helped by inviting people (40+) & making the list of supplies needed.  Kim & a team of other family members did party & food preparing.  Other family members bought the supplies.

We tried to make it as easy, relaxing, & enjoyable as possible for my parents.  My parents bought alcohol, condiments, & had (disappearing) plastic cutlery aka we couldn’t find it when needed.

All my cousin & I did was click a few computer buttons.  Everybody else made the party happen.

I didn’t sleep well Friday night with the party on Saturday!  I was awake until 2:30 am thinking I forgot something or I forgot to invite someone, then I fell asleep only to awake at 5:00 am thinking the same thing.  Back to sleep from 6:00 am until 9:00 am.  Party from 3:00 pm until we left close to 11:00 pm.  Sunday we went back to say goodbye to a few family & friends from out of town or province.

The party was a success!  Who made the party a success?  Everybody that could make it there who was invited, THANK YOU ALL!

Sunday, today, & the rest of the week is recovery for my muscles & now my lack of sleep.  I was planning on being a couch potato this week anyways.  For some reason I woke up at 5:00 am today?  Did the dishes & wrote this.  Is it nap time yet?

I’m a Canadian, living in Canada.  I couldn’t agree more with this REPEATED statement!  The gun violence in America is FAR BEYOND #$%@#@! REDICULOUS!

Sounds as though “Tool” has made a ½ marathon album in playing time over the course of 7 songs!

SUM 41

I know what you’re thinking, “Why review a Canadian punk band that’s so over rated?”  When was the last time you actually listened to them?  Before the release of the album “Screaming Bloody Murder”?  Well this review includes “Screaming Bloody Murder”, “13 Voices” & the newest album “Order in Decline”.  Prior to these 3 latest releases they were just a band that was around.  They did start off as more of a punk band, but their lead guitarist has always been a metal fan.  They’re not as popular as “Anthrax” by any stretch of the imagination, I would put them in that category though as a good mix of punk & metal.

This was all over Much Music in 2001.

Fair enough.  I get the generic pop/punk stereotype with that.  I wasn’t a fan then either, I’m a fan of their current stuff now though.  FYI-All of this is just my opinion.  Here are 2 songs from each of their last 3 albums in order of album release.

2011   Screaming Bloody Murder

2016   13 Voices

2019   Order in Decline

Music throughout the weekend.  “Kacey Musgraves”, “Chris Stapleton”, “Billie Eilish”, “Live”, “Big Wreck”, “Alter Bridge”, “Slayer”, & “Dead Sara”

Should have learned the bridge ^^ of the song in University, apparently I nailed the rest of the song vocally?  As I was told.

How was our staycation?  A nice break, other than it was HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the end I just want the plumbers to do their job & fix the A/C that hasn’t worked this year, or 5 of the last 6 years dating back to its first run in the summer of 2014.  We moved in here as 1 of the first 6 suites to be occupied in December of 2013.  Brand new living space!  Iffy air conditioner on a good day.  Our windows face south.  Even if it’s -40C outside, with the sun shining bright it will be +26C in here, minimum, with the blinds closed.  We rarely turn on the boiler heat.

We mostly stayed in Regina or at least in the Regina area.  We can’t really afford to go on a lavish vacation.  We slept in our own bed every night, so we were never far from Regina.  I’ve been eating more garbage than I should, yet my T-Shirts seem to be extra baggy this week?  Back to reality on Monday.  I didn’t exercise or even have the desire to do so.

Home football game for the Saskatchewan Roughriders last night 37 for Calgary & 10 for Saskatchewan.  So 37-10 with 2:01 left in the 4th quarter.  Everybody starts leaving.  I shout out “YOU’RE GOING TO MISS THE GREATEST COME BACK IN SPORTS HISTORY!!!  WE’VE GOT THEM RIGHT WHERE WE WANT THEM!!!”  It didn’t work ¾ of the crowd was gone & the score didn’t change, ah well.

Sorry, today has been a lot of cleaning/organizing after I boiled the eggs, Kim went shopping, then I made my vegetable juice.  Kim started cleaning, while I’ve been organizing our boxes of CDs into smaller boxes, & putting them in alphabetical order, like I kept them on our CD shelf.  Fair enough, I brought most of the roughly 600 CDs here with me.  I finished the “C” portion, & I’m done for today.  I got that far in 2 hours.

New Alter Bridge song with preorder.  Full release October 18th.

This seems to be the current trend, & it really needs to stop.  Pick any movie or TV show.  Some people have too much free time & rip it to shreds by pointing out plot holes.  Especially if it’s a work of fiction!  This is a work of fiction but the writer for Rolling Stone magazine chose to pick it apart instead of enjoying the movie as it is.

I like comic book movies, then someone will pop up & rip it apart by pointing out the plot holes?  It’s a COMIC BOOK MOVIE.  Sit back, relax, & enjoy a fictitious superhero movie.  Shh…superheroes aren’t real!

We saw “Yesterday” in the theater on Tuesday, July 2nd.  It was/is  FANTASTIC!

New Big Wreck video, no preorder or release date yet.

Delayed Saskatchewan Roughriders game because of lightning?  They announced it over the public address system.  Odd, in the long forgotten Taylor Field of 4 seasons ago the crowd went inside when the power went out.  Baseball just started doing this too.  Baseball used to just carry on until there was too much rain coming down that effected the players not being able to see the ball!  All of these changes in sports are for nothing!  If people (mostly millennials) aren’t watching a sport, shaving 15 minutes off of a game will do nothing, especially if they’re not watching the sport already.

If Chris Adler leaves “Lamb of God” I’ll likely have a personal moment of silence.

We spent Wednesday afternoon with my brother, at his place as he’s recovering from surgery done on his spine last week.  Show off, he’s doing well & now another person is walking before meJ.  This happens all of the time, my friends kids are always walking before meJ!

Why?  Because opening a bottle with your hands is too easy I guess?

24 years ago Thursday, July 4th, Dave Grohl released the first Foo Fighters album!

https://loudwire.com/foo-fighters-self-titled-album-anniversary/?fbclid=IwAR3hY5JtjPEN1nfbouZxn0zqAwEbhonFttfR-ZrwO2r8h5d6dEO4_s8kkuI

We rented “Captain Marvel” even though I plan to buy it & “Shazam” the day “Shazam” is released.  Good movie, but not as good as other Marvel movies.

CORROSSION OF CONFORMITY

Sort of metal & sort of rock.  I think you’d call them “stoner metal”.  One of the subgenres of metal that I don’t like using.  For me it’s just metal.  I have 8 of their albums, there are more, I only listen to 5 of them though.  I don’t plan on purchasing any future releases of theirs.  I got into them by a suggestion of a friend.  I think he’s done with them now also.  The 5 albums I like by them tend to get more air time here than I first thought.

1991   BLIND

1994   DELIVERANCE

1996   WISEBLOOD

2000   AMERICA’S VOLUME DEALER

2005   IN THE ARMS OF GOD

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

3 day exercise total; 200 pushups, 400 leg lifts, 300 crunches, 100 tricep lifts, 300 squats, 200 back flexes.  I had every intention of walking Thursday & Friday.   There were far more important things I need to deal with ASAP.

This is where things get ugly.  I’ve had manic depression for years.  I was called “Gay” or “Fairy” since I could ride my bicycle to elementary school if I was gay my life would be different than it is now in that Kim wouldn’t be married to me.  Two older kids from another school would hunt me down & verbally abuse me, I was NEVER physically abused by anyone.  This continued throughout high school.  I never told ANYONE.  Until just a few years ago, not even my parents.  This is not a sob story.  Thursday was the worst day I’ve had mentally more than ever.  In university my parents said I should talk to someone.  I did…..once.  I don’t know why or how cancer made my depression rear it’s ugly head again this week (I assume that’s what triggered it).

I’d never hurt Kim or disappoint her.  She’s my rock & the love of my life.  I’m very fortunate to have her in my life.  My depression affects many other people.  I keep my feelings in, & after so long they just explode.  I haven’t viciously attacked anyone through email since the first link to this blog that was also incredibly rude.  Thursday it happened again though & completely unprovoked.  I’ve realized that I need to get my act together & speak with a psychologist.  If I don’t, I can see a very small amount of people that would want to call me a friend.  I’m on anti-depressants & anti-psychotics, but that’s not really helping the issue, it’s masking it from others on some level.

I drink a small amount of alcohol on Friday & Saturday evenings.  I don’t smoke or use drugs, nor do I want to.  Eventually I’d prefer to be alcohol free.  I know I can do that without question.  I didn’t have any alcohol while going through my year in the hospital & very little near the end of my rehabilitation program.  I don’t want to talk about my mental issues, I need to.  Kim said she’d come with me.  I don’t want to be an irrational jerk to others, no one deserves that.  I told you I wouldn’t lie to you so there’s the ugly part.  I may be physically stronger but I’m mentally weak & sick of this feeling sneaking up on me.

I’m incredibly sorry to everybody I’ve hurt with my words.  Please don’t be alarmed or worried about me, think more about the people I’ve randomly blown up on.  They are the victims, not me.  I’m not suicidal at all, I’m just not me.

This is new territory for me & it took me far too long to realize it.  I NEED PROFESSIONAL HELP, & I intend to get help ASAP.  I’ll ask my doctor for a referral Friday morning if he’s available.  I don’t know if my health care covers the cost, & it doesn’t matter.

When Kim helps me with walking, I don’t listen to music.  It’s a distraction for me.  I have to stay concentrated on the task at hand.  Make sure my stride/steps aren’t too big, bend my knees, make sure my heel touches the ground first, control my walker/don’t let it get too far ahead of me, stand up straight, etc.  If Kim hasn’t seen me do anything wrong, I ask her if there is something I need to improve.  At the moment she says that all I need to do is build up my stamina.  I know what I need to focus on but I need an “outsiders” opinion in case I’m missing something.

Great book, OK movie.  I read the book in high school.

I read incredibly slow now.  Because of my iPatch & my glasses.  I had glasses before, in 1993, they were more for driving/distance because I couldn’t read the chalk board very well.  When I took the glasses off, things were much easier to read.  I could take these glasses off and read something in large print on a kindle though.

Before it would be 2 or 3 days later and someone would ask “How’s the book?”  “It was GREAT, I’m done reading it would you like it now?”  Now it’s “I’m on page 4.  I’ll tell you in a month or two.”

The books in “The DaVinci Code” series are WAY better than the movies.  The movies are also out of order.

I often forget how much I like this album.  This is their 3rd video from this album!

I don’t consider The Struts a glam rock band.  For me The Struts are similar to Queen, but less experimental/operatic. In the end they’re just FANTASTIC!

https://www.esquire.com/style/mens-fashion/a26952281/struts-interview-style-costumes-outfits-glam-rock/?fbclid=IwAR06tWGX4X_3wag94fA0Inr8Hfz8ph2RA2e6EQNMOnNB8Ua8VHFVkeE3pNI

I plan on buying these 2 albums from iTunes this year.  Neither of them are really my usual taste in music.  I do keep listening to them on our Apple Music account.

COLDPLAY

I own & listen to 3 of their albums.  Yes they’re English & I believe they live there currently as well.  The singer, Chris Martin, was dating or married to Gwyneth Paltrow & they had a baby quite a while ago named Apple.  They’re a fairly mellow band, but really good at what they do.  They’re actually one of all of the Foo Fighters member’s favourite bands.  You wanna talk Coldplay, ask the Foo Fighters what they think.  They came around to fill a void I had for “Radiohead” after Radiohead’s first 3 albums.  They sound nothing like Radiohead though.

They have 7 full length studio albums, an EP, & a Christmas album.  Here are 2 songs from each of the 3 albums I really enjoy…

2000   PARACHUTES   (THEIR DEBUT ALBUM)

2002   A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD

Here comes that piano line that will stick in your head forever!  You’re Welcome!!!!!

2015   A HEAD FULL OF DREAMS

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.

I don’t own this, it is a possibility for me in the future though.  We listened to it on Apple Music.  I put on “Finger Eleven” & Kim piped up instantly saying she had a headache so I changed it to this…

LANGUAGE!!!!!

Have you ever heard “Ronnie James Dio” play “Holy Diver” acoustic?  “Room 333” did it acoustic & live Friday evening.  Somehow it was good, different but good.

My father & I went to The Exchange Friday night to see 3/5 of my brother’s group members, Room 333, play acoustic as an opening act for Tyler Gilbert.  I haven’t been there in a long time.  The last time I was there I was in my 1/3 wheelchairs & still in the Wascana Rehabilitation Center.  My brother & Roque lifted me up on to the slightly higher level, so I could see the show.  I like going to The Exchange it’s not Cheers, but lots of people know who you are by name & never think twice about helping anyone out.

Saturday was quiet.  I woke up, asked Kim “What time is it?”  She replied “9:00 am”.  I reply “Are you not going to work today?”  She replies “No it’s Saturday.”  I don’t know what I was thinking?  Kim spent the day working on her photos/homework for her class.  I got up & showered, which becomes useless at this time of year, I was sweating profusely by 2:00 in the afternoon.  I watched Blue Jays first of 4 Spring Training games left before the regular season starts on Thursday.  Made my vegetable juice for the week & hardboiled eggs for us.  I also wrote down what we needed for groceries.  I felt quite energetic on Saturday despite sweating so much.

For Saturday evening we ordered from “Brown’s Social House”.  I had a burger & yam fries.  I’m still not much of a fan of that place, but EVERYBODY else is.

My younger brother turned 32 on Saturday.

Kim & I rented “Instant Family” from iTunes Saturday night.  A comedy about kids being adopted from the foster care program starring Mark Wahlberg & Rose Byrne.

This morning Kim went for a walk around Wascana Lake with Jolene.  I got up & showered.  Then went straight to the kitchen to empty the dishwasher & have some breakfast with some “Finger Eleven” playing on the stereo!  I’ll be watching Blue Jays baseball again today, tomorrow, & Tuesday.  Wednesday they’re off for a day, & Thursday is when the regular season/marathon of 162 games that end September 29th.  Blue Jays play the final 2 spring training games in Montreal on Monday & Tuesday.  Mitch’s birthday supper with the family this evening.  I think everybody gave him cash?  Mitch & Rachel just got a new born puppy that needs surgery to fix her heart murmur.  I think she is only 3 or 4 pounds right now?  He surgery will be in Saskatoon & quite expensive.  Also a week long including tests one day, then surgery, & 3 days to recover.  The breeders flat out lied about having insurance for this sort of thing.

Spider-man “Far From Home” can’t get here fast enough!

Season 3 of “Stranger Things” isn’t that far away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is a Keto diet?  A fad.  Works for some people, does nothing for others.  My uncle’s on it & he’s lost a lot of weight, he looks like a different person from a distance.  My mom has tried it & wasn’t successful.  Eat fat to eat the other fat.  Remember the Atkins diet that was eat nothing but protein?  Another fad diet that didn’t work for everyone.

I’m almost sure I’ll buy the “Feed the Machine” album by “Nickleback”?  That will make 4 purchased albums & 2 that I’ll listen to on occasion.

DARON MALAKIAN & THE SCARS ON BROADWAY

Daron is the guitar player & 2nd singer for the metal group “System of a Down”.  Serj Tankian is the lead vocalist for “System of a Down”.  It’s very much like “Jerry Cantrell” & “Layne Staley” in the original line-up for “Alice in Chains”.  Sort of 2 singers in one band.

All of the members of “System of a Down” are Armenian.

Anyways, Daron Malakian has released 2 albums as “Daron Malakian & the Scars on Broadway” a self-titled album in 2008 & an album titled “Dictator” in 2018.  “System of a Down” has released 5 individual albums, 2 in 2005 that fit together as a double album.  There are rumours floating around that they might get together to record a new album, but I’m not holding my breath for it.  They do have tour dates in America that likely doesn’t mean anything though.  They’ve toured on & off over the years.

2008   Daron Malakian & the Scars on Broadway

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2018   “Dictator”

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the Toronto Blue Jays, they can’t trade center fielder, I assume more because of his batting average?  They’ve already bought out 2 contracts to set the players free or cheap enough to trade early in the off season to a tune of $56,000,000.  Kevin Pillar will get $521,100 this year.  Next year he goes through arbitration expecting to make over $5,000,000.  Buy out his contract to make room for the 20 year old Short Stop Bo Bichette or a fourth outfielder Anthony Alford.

Blue Jay fans aren’t expecting much this year with so many players coming up from the minor leagues this year & Bichette played well enough to at least platoon short stop with the veteran they signed to a 1 year contract.  Bichette & Vladimir Guerrero Junior should both be in the major league in mid-April!  At the moment Blue Jay fans have no reason to buy a ticket for opening day on Thursday.  I’d go if I could afford to, since I’ve never been to a MLB game.  Out of 162 games, I predict them to win 60-70 games this year, I hope they prove me wrong.  To make the playoffs you need to win at least 95 games.  No playoffs for the Jays this year, lots of young players!

The more you share this, the more readers I get.  No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.  I can’t tell who’s reading this but thank you! Word of mouth is the only way of promoting this.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Janelle Monae” the album “Dirty Computer”, followed by “Testament” the album “The Legacy”

I exercised in silence.  I forgot to put the universal remote on the charger last night.

I will openly admit that even when I was free of cancer & my rehabilitation, I was an asshole.  I was VERY depressed & wouldn’t listen to anyone.  That wasn’t me, never has been or will be.  I am truly sorry to those I was a moron to, publically & privately.  Thank you for forgiving me.  You chose to forgive me, I didn’t force it on anyone.  THANK YOU!!!!!  It may have been years ago, but I still feel bad about it.

I got over that.  Getting into & out of a wheelchair is pretty normal now, not something I’ve stressed about in quite a while.  My legs work a bit & the exercise definitely helps with my walking.  I can stand for quite a while, as long as I have something to hold on to, or with the aid of another person.  30 minutes of standing in one spot isn’t out of the question.

I’m more able to keep my walker (on wheels, chest high) pointed in a straight direction.  Kim follows me in case I stumble or need to sit.  It’s really not that bad, especially since I’m getting stronger.

144 meters is my longest walk without a rest.  It used to be 200, rest, 400, rest, then 200 more, years ago.  I should not have stopped doing that, 800 meters twice a week when I was released from my rehabilitation.  I used to enjoy walking with my walker but something changed after doing so a few times?

Just being alive & able to work on myself sure beats the alternative.  I do have anxiety issues in large groups, talking on the phone to a stranger, or just meeting new people.  Anxiety is likely my biggest issue at the moment.  I tend to clam up in a group of roughly 10 or more people, even if I know them.

Oh, the Grammy Awards.  There is no reason to make any art a competition, but alas “….here we go again….”

A bitter sweet win for the deceased Soundgarden singer, Chris Cornell.  Other awards are listed as well.  “Greta Van Fleet” won best rock album for their 1st release of 2, 4 song EPs, sold as an 8 song album.  The really good album, not the one that’s just OK.

http://loudwire.com/chris-cornell-best-rock-performance-winner-2019-grammys/?fbclid=IwAR0_Pub2XdpwIM41gEbHSMefbbYrlRiBkeVkc2WG8IXrd-nePrgGmwmuv8k

I watched about 10 minutes of CNN on Monday.  They were talking about how great it was to have so many women winning awards, Alicia Keys hosting, & other women involved with the show.  That’s great & Alicia Keys hosting the show was FANTASTIC!  I’ve always thought she’s AWESOME!  As for being nominated, I don’t care what sex, race, or religion you are, I just want the best musician to be nominated & win an award.  If a woman or man wins, I just want the best nominee to win.

I agree any woman should have equal pay if a male is doing the same or similar job, I’m all for that.  I didn’t realize that the pay inequality was happening.  Equal pay should be a no brainer if you ask me!

Rock & metal music are far from dead, even though the Grammy Awards for those categories are not aired on TV.  How many Grammy awards has Lamb of God won?  Guess, I’ll wait……………………………..6 if not more.  The Grammy academy is of no use in promoting rock or metal with the awards for those categories.  “2 roads diverged in a yellow wood” if you want to make money you take the road most travelled.  If you want to attract possible fans to classical, rock, or metal you take the road less travelled.

There were 3 acts that REALLY caught my attention because they were SO good.  Janelle Monae, H.E.R., & Kacey Musgraves.

Carappé, I know the Saskatchewan Roughriders were in the hunt for him.

https://www.cfl.ca/2019/02/11/report-lions-sign-mike-reilly-four-year-deal/

From what I can tell from “Big Wreck’s” Facebook page, they are nearing completion of their next album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Janelle Monae performed this song on the Grammy Awards.  I bought the album “Dirty Computer” on Tuesday.  She absolutely BLEW me away.  She’s like “Prince” 2.0!

The original cartoon was fantastic.  I’m anxious for the live action version!

ASCOT ROYALS   (More pop than rock)

I saw them open for “Big Wreck” in February 2017, AWESOME SHOW!  Unfortunately they never achieved success like I thought they might.  As soon as I got home I purchased their full album & their EP.  The EP was released a week before I saw them.  Another great band that didn’t make it big.

2012   DON’T LET IT STOP YOU (Album)

Please share this, I’m not profiting from this at all.  Word of mouth is the only way of promoting this.
