I fell asleep to“Kongos” the new album “Egomaniac”

I exercised to “Bryan Adams” his greatest hits, then silence, not quite long enough?

I guess I did a little more than usual, that’s probably why the 16 song album didn’t play long enough. I’ve successfully added more push ups today & yesterday.

Yes, I like to have a plan for whatever is happening on a certain day or if there’s a certain event. 95% of the time it doesn’t work out according to anybody’s plan Life’s not a scheduled event. You’re born, & immediately people in your life usually do whatever is needed. I’m lucky to have 2 great familys. My family, Kim’s family & all of our friends! Something different will happen almost daily. We all need to take everything one day at a time. You know there is a good possibility that something will pop up & you’ll have to adjust your plan accordingly. I’ve never had a 5 year plan. I expected to have a 9-5 job, a couple of kids & an amazing wife! Only 1/3 of that plan worked out, it was that Kim is an amazing wife! Cancer changed the other 2 things. I had never planned on having cancer, who does? It hit me & everyone in my life, including me, had to adjust their plan. I never want to be a “burden” to anyone, but here I am with hundreds of really great people worrying about me. I’m fine, I’ve got this. If I need help I know you’re their to help me if I need it. So please don’t stress yourself out “worrying” about me? Hold my beer & watch this! I’ll call you if I need you or you call me if you need me? I worry way more about others than I do myself, that’s how I want to be! I think I’m somewhere in the middle though & I’ll likely be there until I become an “Avenger”?

I fell on my parents driveway on Friday & whoever saw it was ready to help me. I was fine, not even a scrape on me. That right there would be reason to panic, if I was bleeding, but I wasn’t. I got up immediately & got inside. You know what still hurts from Friday? When Brewster jumped on my lap & hit his tiny skull on my lip, no blood or anything visible, just a throbbing pain in my bottom lip! It’s a routine when we get in a car. He waits in the driver seat while I get my seat belt on, then I call him over to sit with me. He’s hit my jaw a few times & he’s overshot & hit his head on the window a few times.

Pentatonix shared it……………………

Friday is looking really good, music wise, not just the weekend. 2 albums for me!!!!!! “Third Ion” their 2nd album will be released that day “Biolith” & “Chevelle” will release the album “The North Corridor”

Jose Bautista calls out the Blue Jays’ owners knowing his contract is done at the end of this season. I think he just became a trade able player come July 31st pending on where the Blue Jays are in the standings. He didn’t say how long or how much he asked for. I assume it’s in the neighbour hood of $25,000,000 a year for 5 years. In his fifth year of that contract he’ll be 41 years old & his numbers likely wont be that good. I’d let him dangle & see who wants him & what can the Jays get in return? If their budget isn’t raised for the next few years they wont be able to afford him. Their budget for this year is roughly $145,000,000 with 5 guys including Bautista earning $17,000,000-$25,000,000 next year! A teacher should be making that kind of money, not people that PLAY A GAME FOR A LIVING!!!!!!!! Sign him, don’t sign him, it really doesn’t matter. Then Blue Jays analyst Gregg Zaun chimes in “…..he needs to put food on the table…”???????????????? That’s some expensive food! Maybe don’t have 2 plates of steak & lobster for 3 meals a day? Any average Joe doesn’t pull in that kind of cash? It’s like you’re winning the lottery every year????????? Trade the 2 big sluggers at the deadline, rebuild the depleted farm system, pick up someone capable & cheaper. Time to play “Moneyball”!!!! I want $8,000,000 for being an OK cribbage player! Give me $1-$100 I’d be happy & grateful. So how are the Jays going to do this year? I really don’t care as long as it’s entertaining.

If anybody signs David Price it will likely be in the neighborhood of $30,700,000 per year for 7 years or more! I could see him signing for 5 years or more at $35,000,000 a year. Who will spend that much in a lifetime? If I could play baseball for one year at that amount I’d retire after one year & live off of the interest!?

November 25th 2005 Kim & I got possession of our first house. Out of the apartment we lived in once we were married early that May & into our house, helped by many friends & family. We had 3 crock pots. 2 people left free crock pots in hand! Apparently they’re a hot commodity on the bus in Regina, who knew? I think it was really nice out that day? A couple of people stopped for a Slurpee & I think most of us were in shorts? Right now, looking out the window in our condo/2nd house, it’s snowing horizontally. Pants, jacket, mittens or gloves & a toque, for sure!

A Million Miles Away Blog on facebook.

Give the site a moment to load all of the links. It takes a bit for my computer & it crashes on Kim’s cell.

I don’t own a mobile device since I’m always with someone when I’m away from home. Anyone I’m out with has a cell or tablet/iPad, I don’t need one.

Two things you should know. I needed a break from my computer & on Wednesday morning we drove to Calgary for this fantastic concert.

Now my dad has seen Foo Fighters 3 times since 2008, & I’ve seen them 4 times since 2000. 2000 in Saskatoon at a 1 day outdoor festival, 2003 at a hall in Edmonton, 2011 & 2015 in Calgary. I’ll just say the concert was AWESOME! Royal Blood opened, played from 7-8, played a bit of a riff from Black Sabbath & most of their album. Foo Fighters played from 8:30-11:00, with no encore, a Rolling Stones song & “Under Pressure” by Queen & David Bowie, both covers were pretty much spot on. They also played an album track that a casual fan might not have recognized? Also 3 songs from the new album “Sonic Highways”

I can’t remember the Black Sabbath riff Royal Blood played?

Royal Blood was really good too though! Bass player/singer & a drummer! REALLY GOOD!

The 4 of us, Mom, Dad, Kim & I stayed with my aunt & uncle, Kent & Leanne. We also visited my aunt & uncle in Aidrie, Joan & Terrance with my cousins Ryan & Kyla. Quick trip, drove all day Wednesday & Sunday, concert was Thursday evening. I think I gained 20lbs with visiting 2 brewerys, eating bread, cheese & scones, along with my aunt Joan’s perogys. We did sneak in a visit with Rydell & Candice which was really good. Candice is pregnant & was due on the 11th. She’s still pregnant though, waiting anxiously to get that baby out. She is & always has been PHAT! No “F” though, I can’t say DOPE since she has never smoked marijuana.

Good but fast trip to Calgary! Big thanks to Kent & Leanne for letting us stay with them & keeping us well fed & drunk………………..uh………………….hydrated?

Fun trip, only problem was Kim & I would wake up & pretty much not see each other until supper time. She would go out with my aunt & mother, while I went out with my uncle & father. My dad is the oldest of 3 children, Uncle Kent is the middle child & my Aunt Joan in Airdrie is the youngest of 3.

I listened to my iPod all the way to Calgary & back. Kim wanted to listen to an audiobook, I would’ve fallen asleep likely.

Fall Out Boy play “Uma Thurman” acoustic

Soundgarden was on the cover of Spin magazine 5 years ago today!

I’ve heard the name “The Dead Weather”, I’ve never heard their music until now

I’m REALLY enjoying the new Finger Eleven album! It exceeded my expectations!

As well as the new Lamb of God album

I hate pre 1985 Rush, but this is pretty cool. An audience member sings “Tom Sawyer” on stage with Foo Fighters.

Nothing I can find on www.youtube.com there is a 3 song EP on iTunes though. Yep, a local group from Regina. They sound REALLY good, if you like metal music, and somewhat like Pantera. Justin Bender did the recording of the album. I don’t think I’ve seen them live yet. If it’s any bit as good as the CD is, I’d call it a success.

Guitar amps sound better at 11!

We did wake up one day last week or earlier this week to this song being played on Kim’s alarm clock or phone.

I was streaming the Big Wreck album earlier and noticed something. The song “Hey Mama” was a demo that I downloaded from Thornley’s www.myspace.com page before I got sick. Sounds pretty different now.

Metallica fans! The RIOB strikes again.

Plagiarism of “Stairway to Heaven” ridiculous according to Jimmy Page.

REALLY? Best selling album in the last 25 years?

The first band I was in with Rob, Rydell and Dave played 2 songs from this album at “Beerfest” in 2002. I said “Here’s some old Metallica”! It was released in August of ’91. It was 11 years old. We finished our set and some moron tried to start a fight with me yelling “THAT’S NOT OLD METALLICA!” Maybe it’s not ’80s Metallica but it was old at the time and even older now!

Is this not great https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xtlc9zD-4Mc not exceptionally heavy! Justin Bender of Into Eternity, Magnetic and now Third Ion! Can’t say I was big on Magnetic, but I do like Into Eternity and Third Ion sounds very promising!

Metallica goes acoustic with cover songs and I still can’t stand them! Way to ruin some legendary songs! Especially a tune by The Beatles.

Maynard James Keenan celebrates his 50th birthday! Singer of Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer.

http://loudwire.com/maynard-james-keenan-celebrates-50th-birthday-in-style/ No it’s time to take a short break and make a Tool album. Or should we wait until 2016 and wait an entire decade?

I’m quite sure that Rob Wirtz’s son, Ben, has found his hero. I’ll have to type out what Ben wrote for his homework, very cool! “My dad has a giant base guitar. My dad ystue be in a band.” That’s pretty cool if you ask me!

Kill Devil Hill. Metal music, not everyones flavour of the week, I get it. Metal music can be annoying to a lot of people! Any music can be annoying to others. Every Roughrider home game I go to, they play this from ’87? I think it’s time for a change.

I think they should play country music and make the majority of the crowd happy. Maybe some Air Supply and make most of us miserable. Is this a better choice?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B55XbHYJmU0 Probably not, but it would fit with the fireworks.

I have the two albums from iTunes of Kill Devil Hill. Corey got me into them. One from 2012 and one from 2013. I assume they’re from the USA, but I’m not sure? Here’s 2 tracks from each album, in order of album release.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCSV5ogs_Eo Both from the 1st S/T album.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLWbs17vY48 From the 2013 release “Revolution Rise”

Remind anyone of Pantera?

I find Jack White overrated, yet others love him and that’s fine with me. I never really got into The White Stripes. My musical Holy Trinity is Dave Grohl, Ian Thonley and Myles Kennedy. Followed by the greats Beethoven, Bach and Mozart. Who is your favourite musician?

When I was in the WRC, I would have exercise therapy. My therapist would have the radio on most of the time on 94.5 Jack FM. Kim called me the human iPod. Everyday someone would ask “Who’s this?” I was the one that would know and the questions were soon directed at me. “It’s Fleetwood Mac, Dexy’s Midnight Runners, Bon Jovi, etc.” Or whoever was on the radio at the time. I’ve got a lot of useless music trivia in my head. ’90s and older music, not current music though.

I’ve never really listened to Anthrax before the release of 2011’s “Worship Music” album.  James had the rest of the previous albums.  I go back to the older stuff now to figure out the journey to the recent release, which is quite good for any metal fan!  My favourite track from the album, yes I’m very picky about the music I listen to!

Thanks for the suggestion metal JBl’s aka Justin Bender!  I REALLY enjoy this album!  I hope the rest of the previous albums don’t sound like 80s metal, I strongly loathe that stuff.  I throw Guns n’ Roses and Metallica in that group. Pantera is good though!

I guess it’s a good thing my 80gb iPod died and I have a 160gb iPod with 79.3gb left on it!  My list of stuff is still quite long!  More of this and that to purchase from iTunes.  I still haven’t done all of our 600+ CDs.  Probably half of them.

My day has been some what of a gong show!  Brewster has been driving me crazy!  He’s been pawing at our front door, whining to go out on to the balcony at the back door, hiding at my feet under the computer desk since Kim got home, etc.  I go to pick him up and he runs away until I corner him, then shaking like a leaf if either one of us gets a hold of him.

I put his collar on him and he calmed down and had a nap for a while in his dog bed!  I don’t think he’s used to the place yet.  All day we hear workers finishing other suites and constructing other buildings across from us.  I feel sorry for him with all of this change and noise, but it’s not like it just started today?

Yes, the bass player from “Hole” and then “Smashing Pumpkins”.  She released one solo album, on my iPod too, then disappeared completely.  She’s from the province Québec, not sure what city though.  I got to see her live at the Distrikt here in Regina.  The show was Limblifter (Regina area), Auf Der Maur and then Matthew Good(B.C.) as a solo artist.  Great show to see and hear!  I never expected to see her live anywhere near Regina. Mitch and I saw one video on Much Music and I was hooked.  It was completely different than anything I’d ever heard.  Quite a few members of Queens of the Stone Age and A Perfect Circle played on that album.  This was the only video I saw.

Apparently Limblifter is back together now with a slew of Canadian bands from the ’90s.  Here’s some Limblifter to jog your memory.

Here’s the Matthew Good Band at it’s best.  Yes, Dave, Rob, Rydell and I played this (the first rock band I/we were in).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnQ-Ixnqpe8   This has to be among their biggest hits.  Matthew Good as a solo artist is pretty hit and miss for me.  Here’s a hit for me in his solo career.

Best guitarist that I put on my facebook timeline what was I thinking?  I only know about local artists and very famous artists.  I forgot 2 other local guitarists that are up there among the guitar Gods.  Daniel Nargang and Justin Bender and anyone else that has been in Into Eternity.  I don’t like classifying metal music as Black, Death, Thrash, Power, Progressive, etc.  It’s music and you either like a band or not, simple as that.
