I fell asleep to “Barenaked Ladies” the album “Gordon”

I exercised to “Chromeo” the album “Head Over Heels”

I REALLY need to stop watching/reading videos & reviews on this SE model PRS!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHrn3qpout8 “A breakthrough in pickup design”

“…huge P 90 sound…” BONUS right there!  These pickups don’t have the LOUD annoying hum that vintage P90 pickups are known for.

P90 double coil pickups for guitars were developed by Gibson in 1946.  They’re known for having a LOUD hum.  After that multiple double coil pickups were created without the hum and are now called _______ Humbuckers

The TCI pickups are only available in the guitars above.  I’m a casual fan of John Mayer’s music although he is a great guitarist “Born & Raised” is a GREAT album.  If he & Paul Reed Smith were involved in creating these pickups, I’m all in!

Yeah, I’m streaming music now & cutting back on whatever I can to get this SE aqua PRS.  I’ve researched & this is the best bang for my cash, & it has the different bells & whistles I’m looking for.  Hopefully within 2 or 3 years I’ll be able to get one, if they’re still making them?  Kim’s undecided if she wants to go on a trip.  If she decides she wants to, at least I’ll have some cash to help out.  Sure the TCI “S” pickups in the SE model don’t sound exactly the same as the TCI pickups in the Core model, but a Core model is WAY over any amount I could think of for a guitar.  Like a minimum of $4900 + tax!!!!!!!??????

SE Paul's Guitar - Aqua

I continue to look at other guitars, but nothing measures up to this one!  I’ve looked at Washburn, Gibson, Epiphone, Fender, Squier, Jackson, ESP, LTD, Yamaha, Music Man, Guild, Gretsch, Dean, Indio, Godin, Warmoth, Peavy, Ibanez, B.C. Rich, Chapman, Kiesel, Charvel, Tokai, Sahana, companies I’ve never heard of from places I’ve never heard of, & after all of that searching & researching I’m sticking with PRS.  The others aren’t bad by any means but I can’t play more than 6 electric guitars, so it might as well be the right one.  PRS, while expensive, have won me over as a company that pays close attention to detail.

Despite all of this talk about a future guitar purchase, I am SUPER PUMPED about the guitar I ordered in January with 85/15 “S” pickups.  PRS reproduced a pickup built in 1985 exactly & mass produced for certain guitars in 2015 hence 85/15 “S”.  The “S” just means they’re made in the oversea factory, which I believe is in Indonesia now.

https://www.prsguitars.com/index.php/electrics/model/s2_custom_22_semi_hollow_2020

Want to know why certain types of wood are chosen for certain parts of a guitar build?  Pull this video to the 8:40 minute mark and let Mr. Paul Reed Smith take you to school with a wooden xylophone!

Maple and mahogany are likely the most expensive woods used.  The SE line has a paper thin amount of maple, S2 line has ¼ inch, & the uber expensive Core line has ½ inch of maple on the top of the body.  The maple is baked in an oven @ 350F to remove any fluid from the wood, it is then glued to the body made of mahogany, then cut to the shape.

https://www.long-mcquade.com/124878/Guitars/Electric-Guitars/Paul-Reed-Smith/SE-Paul-s-Guitar—Aqua.htm

I just had a FANTASTIC idea!  The “Paul’s Guitar” SE costs $1300 + tax in Canada.  If all of you BEAUTIFUL & WONDERFUL people send me $5 I’ll be well on my way to getting this guitar!  I’m so SMRT!  Subscribers & casual readers feel free to pitch in!  My website tells me I have 207 subscribers, I’m quite positive the subscriber amount is far less (180?), so send in the cash!   I can’t even type it with a straight face!  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!  Keep your money!

Sunday evening I realized I need to kick this guitar stuff up a notch!  The first time I learned was because of “Foo Fighters”-“The Colour & the Shape” album.  I learned about 10/13 songs.  I’ve already got 2 ½ down, might as well learn the rest of the album & a few other songs.  I just need to focus on smaller portions of a song & put them together.  Intro, verse, chorus, bridge, solo, & the outro.  Learn each part & put it together.  Finish one or two songs, play them through each session & learn another.  Foo Fighters are great for learning rhythm & more!  Here I come!  This likely won’t happen as fast as I’d like it to, but it’s the most familiar stuff to me.  It’s not a matter of knowing what I’m doing, it’s more strengthening the muscles I need to do it.  The more I learn, the easier the next song becomes to learn.

I could be bitter & angry that I can’t do something I love as well as I used to be able to.  Being that upset & angry would get me nowhere.  I know that if I work at it, it’ll eventually come to me.  How do I know?  I said I was going to learn this song…

…as of Saturday I have the main riff & verse down.  It took me longer than I thought but I made it happen & it was completely new to me.  You’ve got more time than you’ll ever have (unless you have young kids), you can be angry that you’re stuck inside or use your time to focus on something positive & productive.  Whatever you end up doing, the choice is up to YOU.

In order to make some type of segue to the following Covid-19 stuff.  We’re all being told repeatedly to stay indoors, stay 6 or more feet away from others, & wash our hands.  You know what gets my hand muscles loose & ready to play guitar?  Washing my hands with warm soapy water!

Other than that, let’s get real for a bit.  Covid-19 is EVERYWHERE!  I very rarely listen to the radio.  I turned it on while sitting in the vehicle waiting for Kim & there was nothing but Covid-19 news.  I’m really tired of being told to stay inside, but I understand the need to get that out into the world.  There are likely numerous people who disobey the rules.  We could all sit around & call them names or hope they realize that they’re not just putting themselves at risk, but so many others as well.

I know it’s odd for most people to go with very little human contact & it can really bum a person out.  Almost everyone has a cell phone, a tablet, internet, face time, skype, zoom, etc.  If you’ve got it, you wanted it, now use it.  I thought nobody wanted to talk to anybody anymore “I’ll text you”.  Good luck, I don’t have a lot of that stuff, I don’t want it.  I call people or email them to see how they’re doing.  A lot of people have all of these ways to contact and interact with others but everyone’s depressed without human contact.  Might as well use what you have.

Remember that despite the efforts of others, your mood & attitude all boil down to what YOU make of the situation you’re in.  This is your time to decide if you can make it better for you & those around you or bring everyone around you down.  A friend, companion, spouse, therapist, etc. they can give you the tools to achieve what you want.  In the end YOU have to put those tools to use & make a difference to yourself.

Donald Trump estimates 100,000 – 240,000 deaths in America.  No one wants to see that or anywhere near that amount of deaths.  To avoid this & save lives is EXACTLY why everyone should listen to the health officials.

TO BE CLEAR I AM NOT A HEALTH OFFICIAL!  LISTEN TO THE ACTUAL PROFESSIONALS!

I mentioned that “I don’t want a guitar slapped together in a panic”.  More importantly I meant to say that I don’t want to see the death toll rise for any reason or excuse.  I can wait for a guitar, life is FAR more important!  My guitar was ordered on January 15th, it’ll get hear eventually.

Everybody wants instant gratification, I’m just as guilty of that as anyone.  My guitar was supposed to be here this month, as of March 2nd it was delayed until August.  I’m positive that with this virus stuff it’ll be delayed even more.  I’d like it to be here already, I’ll likely appreciate it more when it gets here because I’ve had to wait that much longer.  I know they have my order & waiting won’t hurt me.

Kim went to get groceries on the weekend.  I can’t tell you what life is like out there?  As the day progressed Kim’s mood went down.  She’s the cheerful optimistic one in this relationship.  It really started to bother her and I could understand why as she told me about the protocol at the grocery store.  All I could do was hold her.  Probably didn’t help that we finished “The Morning Show” on Apple TV+.  Great show, sad ending.

Kim, Brewster & I went for a drive on Sunday evening to roll down the windows & get some fresh air, made a HUGE difference.

KEEP YOUR CHIN UP!!!!  IT’LL GET WORSE BEFORE IT GETS BETTER.

I’ve got a handful of album releases I’m waiting for this year.  There are 2 that have release dates.  “Trivium” – “What the Dead Men Say” on April 24th & “Lamb of God” – “Lamb of God” on May 8th!  My sister-in-law’s birthday, followed by our 15th Anniversary, & then a Friday with some new “Lamb of God”

More album release dates to come that I’m waiting for anxiously!

“Testament” released a new album on Friday, I need to give it a good listen still.  I’ve listened to it sporadically over the weekend and really like it (Thrash Metal).  I don’t post reaction thoughts though, I still need to digest this one a bit!

If you’re getting this through Facebook, give it a like or other reaction, or share it.  That’s the only way of promoting this site, since I’m not profiting from this in any way.

Music throughout the weekend.  “In Flames”, “Lamb of God”, “Dream Theater”, “Elton John”, “Billy Joel”, “Candlebox”, & “John Mayer”

I went to Winnipeg this weekend for my great aunt’s 80th birthday.  I rode with my parents late Friday.  We got there at about 12:45 am.  Stayed at my cousin’s condo.

The birthday was on Saturday from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.  Then we went to my other great aunt & uncle’s place for a BBQ & adult beverages.  We had to stay late due to the tremendous torrential down poor of rain “Well I guess this means I should have another rum & coke?”

My dad has 3 cousins around my age in Winnipeg from my great aunt & uncle that hosted the BBQ.  2 of them are older than me & one is a year younger me.  It was great to see my 2nd cousins & significant others, as well meeting or seeing their kids

Again it was shortly after midnight when we went back to my cousin’s place.  Great time seeing everybody though!

Unfortunately I didn’t get to see much of my cousin we were staying with.  She was cleaning the barn where she keeps her horse.

Whirlwind trip but well worth it!

AEROSMITH

I’m not a huge “Aerosmith” fan, but I do like a few tunes from them.  I have their album “Big Ones”, a greatest hits compilation that I changed a few songs on iTunes.  Kim & I went to Boston in 2007 & had supper at the “Boston Hard Rock Café”, one of those moments where I was reminded they’re based in Boston.  Well here are a few songs of theirs…

Don’t feel as though you have to click on every link.

I had a great Christmas other than one tiny thing.  FOOD!!!  I swear it was following me & there was always more around the corner.  I think I did OK though.  I haven’t weighed myself since I hit 233 a few months ago, but every piece of clothing that fit me then, still fits me now.  I have a large frame, for me to be less than 215 pounds is attainable anything under that number would be a bad joke.  A bag of “Skin & Bones”.  Too much food, it doesn’t help that I gag on a bite a mashed, boiled, or baked potato either.  I don’t really care for turkey or roasted fowl in general.  I’ll eat turkey but potatoes are not for me unless they’re French fries with ketchup or fries in a poutine (with cheese curds & gravy) that you’ll regret eating later on because you’re so full & weighted down.  Weighing myself is just a number on a scale for me.  “How do I feel?” or “Do my clothes fit me like they should?”

I’ll go walking with Kim helping me after work & on the weekend.  My leg is just being annoying at the moment.  My message therapist suggested it, standing up & moving my legs more & book another appointment with my chiropractor.  Also purchase special socks for my over curled toes that will also help my drop foot.

I have to wait for Kim to be around or I might fall, I’ve already done that enough, not lately, I think maybe in the summer I did?

I just watched the World Junior hockey gold medal game I recorded since I knew I’d miss most of it while at my massage appoint men & I always record extra time if it’s a live sporting event.  I’d have to say that was my style of hockey since watching Wayne Gretzky with the Oilers in the early 1980s!  Really fast & open game, just from one scoring zone to the other.  Not much play in the neutral zone & no fighting/really dumb penalties.  If hockey players really want to fight, I say meet in the parking lot after the game wearing shoes.  I’m still not really a fan of the NHL.  It’s so watered down now.  To finish with a shootout in a championship or playoff game just isn’t right.  “Mom, Dad, can I stay up to watch however many periods of overtime?”  That was me in the ‘80s & early ‘90s

Foo Fighters do a top 10 after a week of performing on David Letterman before releasing their last album “Sonic Highways”

Bruno Mars carpool karaoke.  I just REALLY like Bruno Mars.  He’s like a little bit of James Brown, Michael Jackson, & The Police rolled into one.

I don’t think we have “Record Store Day” in Canada?  I don’t have a record player anyways, I do like the idea which started 10 years ago.  I did have a small record collection before I was ill.  It included U2’s “The Joshua Tree”, Tool’s “Lateralus”, Def Lepards “Hysteria”, Led Zeppelins’ “II”, & Foo Fighters “One by One” among others.

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/record-store-day-announces-10-year-celebration-w459166

So Big Wreck’s 3rd guitarist has left the band still on good terms though, and now there are 4 people in the band.  Back as it was with 4 members in the late ‘90s & early 2000s.  FYI-Don’t jump into a mosh pit & break your nose to this song then lie to the guy in the first aid tent so you can stand behind the mosh pit to hear the end of the same song & I speak from experience!

Ed Sheeran only released 2 singles, I don’t buy singles.  I’ll wait for a full album release.  Sucks I really like his stuff!

Janet Jackson song from upcoming album this fall.
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/janet-jackson-promises-no-sleeep-on-alluring-new-single-20150622

Is it just me or does it seem as though musicians are pushing their albums out really fast? Last week she announced the new album & today there’s a single & an expected release date for the fall? That seems really quick to me. I would think someone would release a single, announce the release date for the album once it’s recorded? I don’t know how things like that work, but it seems as though many artists like to work “under pressure”.

Don’t know why? This has been stuck in my head lately? I must need an “Odds” fix. This album was released in ’93, I’ve listened to it around 4 times since 2008 & it still holds up for me.

I don’t want my music streaming. How about a subscription to iTunes? I can download for free while Apple pays the artists? We’ve always been able to purchase vinyl, cassettes, CDs or digital files & now you’re taking away the opportunity to own music? If you’re paying them a decent amount for a streaming/radio site, maybe take a look & do the same with iTunes so I can download it & own it instead of paying for renting music for the rest of my life? Look at what you made & what’s wrong with it then fix it? Don’t just build a better mouse trap, fix the old one? More reaction to this topic…

If I can’t OWN it legally, torrent files it is! Where you pay $0.00 for anything digital. You take my stuff away, I’ll take your’s away. I have nothing against others using a streaming service. For me it’s like renting an apartment, once you stop paying, you lose the apartment. If you’re paying your mortgage eventually you’ll own your living space.
