I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “Sonic Highways”

I exercised to “Jimmy Eat World” the album “Surviving”

Here’s the Canadian Red Cross website if you’d prefer to donate there for my birthday.  Donate whatever amount you like whenever you like please?

https://www.redcross.ca/

There are photos of myself & each guitar I own in the Facebook links on here.  You should know that I despise photos & videos of myself.  Also any audio of myself.  I’ve sang on a few recordings, I’ve listened to them a handful of times, all I do is find/notice mistakes either on guitar or vocals of myself.  I very seldom listen/look at to any type recordings of myself.

Kim called me on the way home from work Friday to get ready to go out to see “Little Women”.  I’m not much of a fan of period pieces, but there was nothing bad about it, I’ve never read the book.  I had to ask her this on the way though…

She didn’t remember that moment.  I guess when we were dating she just used me for my “Friends” DVDs.  Not sure why she keeps me around now?  Do you think she like…..LIKES me?

I’ll play the heck out of the new 6 string, then continue saving for a trip to where ever Kim wants to go.  Then I’ll save for the Limited Edition Epiphone Les Paul signature Matt Heafy 7 string guitar.  Less than half the price of the guitar recently ordered but it will take longer to save for…….and it’s off of the new 2020 Epiphone guitar website.  I guess all that remains are the guitars in stock at stores.  I feel sick!  There are other 7 string guitars but this was the only one I really liked.  Our “guitar savings” are spent.  Instant gut wrenching heartbreak…….as of Monday morning I find out that Long & McQuade have 9 in stock (at other stores in Canada) and can still get them in from the supplier.  I can’t afford that now, I was thinking a few years down the road.  I think a vacation with Kim & hopefully a house should happen before my final guitar purchase is made, if the funds are available?  I’m doubtful this will still be available at that time.

All 6 strings for me, but HOT DAMN that sexy PRS!  April seems so far away!  I feel like a kid in November waiting for Christmas!

https://www.long-mcquade.com/22227/Guitars/Electric_Guitars/Gibson/Matt_Heafy_Les_Paul_Custom_7_String_Electric_Guitar.htm

I watch WAY too many guitar demos of my ordered guitar & this Epiphone model!

You’ll notice there is no Matt Heafy signature 7 string Les Paul guitar listed in the link below.  The hundreds of others don’t compare for me.  It’s about getting this particular model, not just any 7 string.

https://www.epiphone.com/Guitars/Collection/Artist

The PRS is my last regular guitar, if the 7 string is available 5 years down the road that will complete my guitar purchasing.  If it’s not available I’m done now.  I’m pretty sure I’m done now. Before I was sick I figured one guitar every 4 or 5 years.  Now on one income, I’m done.  Expensive hobby.

I bought an S2 semi-hollow.  They’re really not that affordable unless you started the company!  Mine is an S2 custom 22 semi-hollow.  Same line, different model.  5th highest model out of 6.  Even the cheapest model is more than $1000 retail if it’s a true PRS made in Maryland.  There are other PRS style guitars that are cheaper made overseas.

Kim’s at work all day and doesn’t see my exercise other than walking & stairs where she has to make sure I don’t crack my noggin’ open.  I’m rather inept when it comes to any type of technology so you’ll have to open the Facebook link & scroll down for photos of me & my guitars on Facebook.  The photos were taken on Saturday, January 18, 2020.  I hope this works, my apologies in advance if it doesn’t.  The photos will only on the Facebook link, sorry.  https://www.facebook.com/A-Million-Miles-Away-Blog-1597618270456002/

A photo of my ugly mug a few weeks shy of turning 40.  12 years after stage 4 brain cancer.  I collapsed at work on Tuesday, February 5th, 2008.  Yes, I’m wearing shorts indoors & it’s a blizzard outside.  I went to a movie in shorts Friday night while wearing shorts, a hoodie, toque, and gloves.  I went from the vehicle to the movie theater.  Yeah, it’s cold out.

https://www.facebook.com/1597618270456002/photos/pcb.2395341334017021/2395339010683920/?type=3&av=1597618270456002&eav=AfbblMFkP4oNVdGt-0hcdnXcrL39QdjDoasY4BmjIpbxgIGS-fM2SQN_WkikR1a65nGM0dKEPtqvBqWNzx-nhiNr&theater

This is me holding my first guitar I received on my 21st birthday from my family.  My (Green) Les Paul made by Tradition guitars that no longer exist.  The guitar is exactly the same as when I received.  This was my main guitar for every live show I ever played.  This guitar seems to push more bass tone, yet the pickups produce a lot of high pitched feedback if you’re not conscious about it.

https://www.facebook.com/1597618270456002/photos/pcb.2395341334017021/2395338807350607/?type=3&theater

This is my (black) Epiphone Explorer.  My girlfriend (now wife) bought it for me as a Christmas gift in 2002, we started dating in April of that year.  I had the pickups changed to EMG pickups for $200 after one show with it.  There’s an active EMG 60 in the neck pickup & an EMG 81 in the bridge pickup.  EMG pickups push more of the higher & mid-range tones which can also cause feedback.  Dave Grohl played a black Gibson Explorer early on in his career with “Foo Fighters”.  My reason for the cursive “F” logo of the band which I added as well as the Canadian flag.  Epiphone is the cheaper version of guitars also made by Gibson.  Same design, cheaper materials.  This has become my main guitar when playing electric guitar.  I play rock music for the most part while dipping my toe deeper into metal music.

https://www.facebook.com/1597618270456002/photos/pcb.2395341334017021/2395338647350623/?type=3&av=1597618270456002&eav=AfbJCzMeEa9rmWYpw29QFBtfn0g8L-v1aNw0LSEb8Y95UURTZGWThasK1-bEZBaS8qU5iO_r6XV35iQbDWXVIfsb&theater

This is the (Brown) Fender Telecaster I received as a gift from a very good friend of mine while going through physiotherapy in 2009.  This is the guitar signed by Ian Thornley, the singer-songwriter from the Canadian rock band “Big Wreck”.  This guitar has 2 single-coil pickups instead of humbucker pickups.  It’s also semi-hollow.  The sound is more geared towards a twangy country music sound or a blues sound on the neck pickup.  I rarely play this guitar, mostly because of the sound, country & blues aren’t suited to my taste in music also the neck of the guitar just doesn’t feel comfortable in my hand?  It is a very nice looking guitar, at least I think so!  I’ve always liked the shape of a Telecaster!

https://www.facebook.com/1597618270456002/photos/pcb.2395341334017021/2395339184017236/?type=3&av=1597618270456002&eav=AfZwjH1yQ6tQq72AZTYvN_HiuYdOzVQRwsvbugMOTag5ae3VkHUUUtK6aSed6t-DWw7TIbzF8hh0qlacBztdmRKo&theater

My acoustic-electric hybrid guitar made by Takamine.  This guitar is the only guitar I have purchased for myself.  I think the electronics inside the guitar fell during the photo?  All of my guitars are either hung on the wall or in a stand on the floor.  They’re more accessible so I can grab one at any time.  My acoustic is typically found in the living room.  The electric guitars are in our office by my guitar amplifier.

https://www.facebook.com/1597618270456002/photos/pcb.2395341334017021/2395339384017216/?type=3&av=1597618270456002&eav=AfaEAaLgalZNaMOeIatTd6fWWAxtfYtZ8rD3-ZeExeOSFoI09Uky7NxYjh3IaQSPP7hQl6BGwPiypus_23UlH6o4&theater

The acoustic guitar on the wall is the one I bought for Kim, the same Christmas she bought me the Epiphone Explorer.  She wanted a blue acoustic guitar.  It’s a blue Washburn acoustic with Grover tuners.  The only blue acoustic I could find in 2002.  She never learned to play it.  I used it to teach a few friends & I’m using it now for the same reason.  No charge, not a wealth of knowledge in my head, just the basics!

My amplifier volume is set to 1 ½ out of 10.  I don’t turn it up in case it bothers our neighbors.  My current amplifier contains one 10” speaker but is VERY loud.  My previous amplifier, before I was sick was 100 Watts with a cabinet of four 12” speakers to put things into perspective.  We lived in a bungalow with my gear in the basement.  I don’t miss carrying my amp & speaker cabinet to the basement at 2:00 am.

All of these guitars are out of production.  I guess they’re not cool enough for others, I like them though!

I hope my ordered guitar isn’t delayed significantly.  PRS were already sold out of the more expensive models, mine wasn’t one of them, before the trade show (NAMM 2020 Jan. 16-19) this past weekend in California.

My other hobby was playing Baseball, which I’m too old to play despite my iPatch & wheelchair.  I watch CFL football & the Toronto Blue Jays faithfully.  CFL starts in the summer.  Blue Jays spring training starts in mid-February.

I find that there is just too much TV these days.  When the fall premiers started I stopped recording quite a few.  Now with the New Year premiers I cancelled the recording of a few more & even bowed out of watching “This Is Us” last week.  There are about 10 shows that I never miss but EVERYTHING is an hour long lately?!  Add streaming to that, I don’t have that kind of time!  Sure I’m at home all day but I have stuff to do & a lot of the shows I watch with Kim when she gets home around 6:00 pm from work.  When I watch 3 hours of baseball every day in the fall, time management gets tricky, especially this upcoming year since the Blue Jays might be decent!  I always find time, as soon as Kim’s home, & we watch “The Ellen Degeneres Show”, “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”, “Prodigal Son”, & “Criminal Minds”.

Guitarist “Mark Morton” from ‘Lamb of God’ has released a 5 song EP.  Not sure if they’re all cover songs but I instantly recognized 2 1990s rock songs.  One by ‘Pearl Jam’ & one by ‘The Black Crowes’ this is a tame/relaxing EP, not metal at all.  He plays guitar with a different guest vocalist on each song.

I fell asleep to “Queen” the album “A Day at the Races”

I exercised to “Black Sabbath” the album “Heaven & Hell”

I had a list of albums that I grabbed this year, & it disappeared.  These are the albums of the year that stuck with me & are VERY memorable for me.  When I say “metal” do me a favour & don’t freak out about the vocals.  I don’t think I bought an album this year with ‘growling’ or ‘screaming’ on it.  A lot of metal vocalists are very well trained at their craft, even the ‘screamers’ out there.  It’s hard to do that.

I’m sure there were more albums that I bought, but these are the ones that caught my attention the most.

PLEASE REMEMBER THESE ARE JUST THE ALBUMS THAT I HEARD & LIKED.  FEEL FREE TO VOICE YOUR OPINION ON ANY MATTER HERE!

“Opeth” the album “In Cauda Venenum”

Yeah it’s a progressive rock/metal/soft-rock album from the Swedish group.

“P!nk” the album “Hurts 2B Human”

You know who she is more than likely.  I do like her previous release “Beautiful Trauma” a bit more, but there was nothing wrong with this one!

“Dream Theater” the album “Distance Over Time”

Progressive metal out of the USA, no this guy doesn’t growl or scream.  He’s a classically trained singer.  Usually someone says “metal” and everyone else freaks out about the vocals being scary.

“Alter Bridge” the album “Walk the Sky”

Based in Florida.  6th album & living in Western Canada, I’ll never see them live.  I think they’ve done the Montreal & Toronto tour twice since 2004.

“I Built the Sky” the album “The Zenith Rise”

Instrumental metal that REALLY shocked me, in a good way.  I’ve never heard anything like it and this is their 5th release.  I’ve got this album & I’d like to get 2 other albums by them.

“TOOL” the album “Fear Inoculum”

The only reason this wasn’t my favourite album of the year was that it’s just SO long.  “TOOL” is a band that you listen to & focus on nothing else, like most music is meant to be heard.  There are so many layers to this album & 6/10 songs are well over the 10 minute mark.  I’ve only had time to focus on it once.  It’s not an album full of singles either, it’s an album.  “Fear Inoculum” is roughly 7 minutes longer than their 1999 album “Lateralus”.  The difference is that “Lateralus” has 13 songs opposed to 10 on “Fear Inoculum”.  I can listen to 7 songs on “Lateralus”, come back later & listen to the rest.  I don’t like doing that with “Fear Inoculum”, I want to listen to it from start to finish with no separation.  I don’t have 1 ½ hours to focus on an album every week?

“In Flames” the album “I, The Mask”

Another Swedish metal band.  If you want to call these vocals “screamy” go ahead.  They’re called a “Swedish melodic death metal band” emphasis on the ‘melodic’ portion though.  He sings with an odd tone.

“Big Wreck” the album “…but for the sun”

I thought this was just my favourite “Big Wreck” album, turns out it’s one of my favourite albums of all time by a Canadian band not well known outside of Canada.  They’re a rock band & if you’ve never turned on a rock radio station in Canada or if you’ve lived under a rock since the late 1990s, you’ve never heard of them.

Honourable mentions. Billie Eilish’s “When we all fall asleep, where do we go?”, “Of Monsters & Men” the album “Fever Dream”, Mark Morton “Anesthetic”, & “Jimmy Eat World” the album “Surviving”.

As for future out of province concerts, I’m going to scale that WAY back.  Too much money I don’t have.  There had better be a show in Calgary, Alberta or Winnipeg, Manitoba & no more than 2 out of province shows a year, if that.  Hopefully there are more shows here in Regina or 2 ½ hours away in Saskatoon.  I’ll go to Moose Jaw (45 minutes away) if they ever get an act that intrigues me.

“Paramore” news…

YAY!

What else to expect in 2020?  Chevelle, Lamb of God, Megadeth, The Pretty Reckless, Stone Temple Pilots, Into Eternity, Third Ion, Foo Fighters, Evanescence, Testament, Trivium, and more?  Most of these are rumored releases.

HOLY SMOKES!!!!  “Stone Temple Pilots” already have a preorder for their acoustic album “Perdida” for full release on February 7th.

25th anniversary for “Foo Fighters” & from the looks of their Facebook page they’re recording or might have already?

Gave my guitars a good workout yesterday.  After 3 ½ months of 45 minutes to 3 hours a day, 5-6 days a week I’m pretty much back to where I was on guitar when I got sick.  6 Foo Fighters songs down, added in parts I’ve never attempted, very close on 2 Metallica songs, a few other simple songs down, new chords, a handful of other riffs too.  All rhythm & hooks, I’ve never played guitar solos.  Feels so gratifying!!!!!!!  I forgot how much I missed it!  You have no idea how happy I am with this!!!!!!  I was so happy I almost broke down with tears of joy!!!  Just a few seconds behind the real tempo but just a little more polishing to do.

I’ll figure out how to put some videos on here.  Something you should know first though.  I LOATHE photos, videos, and audio recordings of myself.  Take the amount you don’t like them of yourself and multiply that by 100,000,000,000 and you’ll be almost where I am.  It probably won’t happen often, especially since I don’t own a phone or any type of camera.

Well, exercise is done for the day so that means perfecting a few songs on the guitar until… “Star Wars” Episode 9 tonight with my pop!  He got me into this mess with VHS, now I’m getting us out of this mess at the theater!

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer? Ask if you do!
Music throughout the weekend. “Jimmy Eat World”, “Alter Bridge”, “Big Wreck”, “TOOL”, “Pink”.

We took Brewster to the Vet Friday afternoon, he’ll be 14 on January 31st. He started coughing, 3 or 4 smoker coughs in a row followed by a gag, that’s what it sounds like. They did some X-rays & his heart is only a bit enlarged with a serious murmur. The X-rays have been sent to a cardiologist & we should hear back either on Sunday or Monday. There’s a combo of 3 medications he’ll eventually need, likely one at the moment. Not the expensive one yet thank goodness. I wanted to make sure he wasn’t in pain, I thought it was more urgent than it actually is. We knew all of this was happening & assumed it was a right now thing. He’s getting old, & this stuff happens. We caught it in the early stages, so he’ll likely start on a cheaper medication Monday. The expensive one works out to $75/month YEESH! No price tag on his life though, as long as he’s not in pain.

He needs to put on some weight too. He’s not eating much at all unless he’s spent the day at doggy daycare. He loves wet dog food, it smells terrible. I mix some of his dry food with some wet food for him twice a day, then he’ll eat it. Straight wet food does NOT agree with his tummy.

I’ve put the house hunting on the back burner. We have to sell our place first before we can offer on another. This is a wait & see situation, no point in stressing about something until it happens. It’s not on the back burner really, I’ve just figured there’s not much point in worrying about what I can’t do anything about.  A ton of new/empty condos in Regina, lot’s of supply, not nearly as much demand.
We have 3 places in mind. One is at the top of our price range & we’d need to see, in person, how my wheelchair fits. Another is priced higher than our range, but a possibility & the 3rd is a fantasy that would likely need a pile of work

Kim tells me she’s getting me a Christmas present. I said keep the cash & use it for something more important. She was going to give me money to start saving up for a guitar, I found 2 I’d like but don’t need. A house eventually & Brewster are far more important. The $2378 + tax for 2 guitars can wait, if I started now it could still take me a few years. I need to build up muscle in my fretting hand first anyways. It’s weird, I’m a beginner that knows too much. My mind is ahead of my hands.

Life in general feels that way at the moment. Most days my mind is racing to do things here, but I’m slowed down by being in a wheelchair & vice versa on other days when I get anxious to do something but have no energy.

I’ve been relearning guitar, so I learned the first time using a simple chord book & moved onto learning tab music. It tells you what fret & string to press down to play a chord, riff, or solo in a song. I know the chords & I know many songs. I’ve been using http://www.youtube.com to learn this time & this is what I’ve learned. Every youtube individual has learned a different way. I learned in 2001, before youtube & after seeing all of these different ways to learn I’ve decided to relearn the way I need to. Relearn the 40+ songs I knew, I’m playing more by ear trying to relearn what I know & maybe I don’t do things properly but that’s how I play. As long as it sounds correct, I really don’t care what finger I’m using on which string. I am trying to use my pinky finger more than I used to though, gotta strengthen that finger!

The only thing I’ve seen on youtube about learning guitar which I somewhat agree with is ‘Buy nice gear’. All I need is a small practice amp, which I have. I bought it as a used amp from my brother, so it was reasonably priced & louder than I need. I don’t own a guitar over $1000 other than possibly the Fender signed by Ian Thornley of Big Wreck. I’ve shopped for 2 practical choices online, I don’t know if Long & McQuade sales people earn commission but if I end up buying one of the 2 someday it will be through Mr. Tim Roth of local metal heroes “Into Eternity”. Here are the links if you care to check them out?
https://www.long-mcquade.com/22227/Guitars/Electric_Guitars/Gibson/Matt_Heafy_Les_Paul_Custom_7_String_Electric_Guitar.htm?ref=suggestive-search

https://www.long-mcquade.com/100349/Guitars/Electric-Guitars/Paul-Reed-Smith/2018-SE-Custom-22-Semi-Hollow-Electric-Guitar—Vintage-Sunburst.htm

A guitar can go up to $250,000, at least from what I’ve seen online? I don’t think it’s even near worth that much I doubt a guitar that much would be much different than a $3,000 guitar. If I had the cash, $2,000 would be the ultimate top price I’d even consider. I’ve played many live shows with a $600 guitar, & now I play at home. The guitars I chose are a “want” not a “need”. That’s why they are a last priority, under Brewster’s health & a house in that order.

Guitar was most of my Saturday, followed by the Roughrider game on TV in Edmonton. Yay, the Saskatchewan Roughriders won 27-24! Last game of the regular season next Saturday in Regina. My 2nd last game as a season ticket holder. There will be a home playoff game that I’ve/Kim has paid for already as of last December. (Way to go, hit the season ticket holders right at Christmas?!)

Just because I’m Canadian doesn’t mean I’m a hockey fanatic. I’m a hockey score board watcher. Saskatchewan doesn’t have a professional/NHL team. We have a junior hockey team in the Western Hockey League. The NHL heritage classic was this Saturday in Regina. An outdoor NHL game at the football stadium. If it involved either Edmonton &/or Montreal I would’ve inquired about using my season ticket seats for the game. The game is Calgary vs. Winnipeg, I’m out. I rarely watch hockey anyways. I only watch the Canadian Football League & the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team.

Today we are spending the day in the kitchen. I’ve boiled my eggs, Kim is making a lasagna for the week & when she’s done I’ll make a pitcher of vegetable juice.
TOOL almost started the studio on fire while recording the album “Fear Inoculum”

JIMMY EAT WORLD
Yep, they released a new album on Friday, October 18th 2019. That makes 9 albums thus far. I have 5 of them. New album out the same day as a new “Alter Bridge” which I can’t stop listening to. “Jimmy Eat World” are a pop/punk band. More emphasis on the pop part, I guess guitar based pop with a slight punk/rock tilt is more appropriate? Anyways here are a few songs from their new album “Surviving”….

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.  “The Cure” X 2, “Big Wreck”, “Jimmy Eat World”, “Alter Bridge”

I thought the “Big Wreck” album “…but for the sun” was my favourite Big Wreck album.  It quickly became one of my favourite albums overall, the new Alter Bridge is very close to that as well….and it was just released on Friday!

I stated this on Friday “Ideally we’d be moving into our new house by mid-November, but it’s been purchased, we can’t change that, just move on & keep doing our thing.”  This is not correct.  Today it is closer to correct.

Ideally we’d have gotten our dream home & be moving in November 2nd & 3rd.  That’s not happening, since we have nowhere to move to.  We’re looking but wheelchair accessibility in a house is rare in a smaller city.  It may be out there, but it has to be good enough to make it accessible on a budget.

I was feeling guilty for the lack of exercise last week, so I did 300 crunches, 200 curls, 50 shoulder raises, & some yoga.  Brewster was at daycare on Friday.  He came home a little grubby & needed a bath.  He was really tired after daycare, as usual.

The Riders won their game Friday night, 2 games left in the regular season & a Western final home game isn’t out of the question……………..yet.

Well Saturday was a relaxing morning.  Kim got up way too early to clean the car in the garage after making a trip to Tim Hortons for her coffee.  Late in the afternoon we saw another nice house that was so not wheelchair accessible.  That’s 4 or 5 swing & misses now.  I assume that number will grow exponentially.  Great neighbourhood, really nice place, but very little room for me to get around.  We’re looking, it’s hiding somewhere?

Kim’s aunt & 2 cousins were spending the night at Kim’s sister’s place in town.  We went over for supper and a visit before they head home to Alberta in the morning.  Of course on the way home we pass a Tim Hortons!  I don’t think Kim can go past one without getting a tea or coffee, I should’ve told here I had to pee!

We got home around 9:30 pm.  We watched the last 3 episodes of “The Ranch” season 7 on Netflix.  WOW if there was ever a cliff hanger for the next season that was it!  I stayed up until shortly after 1:00 am desperately searching for a house on www.mls.ca I found some possibilities, but none of those have worked out so far.  If only stairs & steps weren’t my nemesis.  Me, defeated by a 6” step!

Alice Cooper is coming to Regina Monday, April 13th, 2020.  Tickets went on sale on Friday, & somehow there are no wheelchair seats left.  I find that odd, that’s the only bonus to being in a wheelchair!  Wheelchair seating never sells out, at ANY venue.

Sunday evening was more house shopping online.  Kim wants an attached garage with a direct door from the garage to the house.  We both know I need wheelchair accessibility.  I’d like a back deck I can get onto & let Brewster hang out outside.  12 online possibilities, 0 worth looking at!  Attached garage seems to be the biggest issue.  There are attached garages, but the entrance to the house is either the front or back door?

Monday is Kim’s day off before her actual birthday “Kim & Chris’ Day of Fun!”

Just the “DAY OF FUN!” is true.  Kim’s cool, do you think I’d be married to her for almost 15 years if she wasn’t?

Quiet day.  Kim didn’t feel much like venturing out & unless you like to eat & drink, there’s not much to do on a week day in Regina.  We took Brewster to daycare, went out to a local coffee shop, voted, came home & shopped online for houses to look at.  We found 3 in total, I think 2 of them are financial pipe dreams but are also move in ready.  Kim wants to look at them & see what they’d cost us though, looking can’t hurt I guess?  Out of the 12 I found online in our price range, Kim approved of 1.  It’s one of those ones that will be fine as is, but we could make it better.

Kim seems to make large purchases on her birthday, we’ll see if she repeats that again.  I might be living on macaroni………………….cheese is far too fancy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

4 day exercise total;  00 leg lifts, 00 crunches, 00 squats, 00 back flexes, 0 pushups, 200 curls (10 pounds), 00 tricep extensions (7 pounds), 50 shoulder raises (7 pounds).  Stretching & TONS of yoga.

I fell asleep to “Of Monsters & Men” the album “Fever Dream”

THE FOLLOWING IS A PITY PARTY, THEN A REALIZATION AT THE END.

Not the greatest of weeks.  Our dream house was sold officially as of Tuesday evening.  I got the link update Wednesday morning.  I spent Monday evening & Tuesday evening worrying about it & stayed up to late.  Felt better as Thursday went on.  There was a viewing of our place Thursday, which is great, but if anyone makes an offer, where do we go?  Regina’s not a big city & something accessible for me seems to be a rarity at best.  We took the viewing time to see another house (just the neighbourhood & the outside) in an area that’s nice, but so far away from every other part of the city!

I’ve been trying to educate myself for the federal election on Monday.  The more I dig, the more I realize why I haven’t voted in 21 years.  I watched the federal debate twice which was oh so uninformative.  It was pretty much me & the candidates at a bar for an evening at the end it felt like “Well, we’re the last 2 people here, I guess you’re it”.  I’m sorry but 6 candidates to choose from & not one of them has EARNED my vote.  I’ll vote since I said I will, but I’d much rather continue to exercise my right not to vote!  MAYBE I’ll vote again………….in 21 years.  Waste of my time & energy.  “Let’s promise the moon to everyone, then pretend we never said that”.  I don’t know of an elected politician that has followed through on what became empty promises.  Somebody please prove me wrong after this election?

Kim’s teeth are done & she’s happy with them.  Now the bill.  Then Brewster’s tests & medication.  Then Christmas gifts to purchase.

So I’ve spent this week stressing HARD about all of this, mostly finding a wheelchair accessible house, which seems hopeless.

I haven’t felt like eating or working out this week so far.  What am I looking forward to this week?  Watching the Rider game on TV tonight that’s in B.C. Other than that “I’m broken” for now.

I may be down now, but Monday is the start of a new week!

How I’m feeling as of Thursday night & even more so Friday morning.  Instead of stepping back & looking at a big picture of overwhelming stuff, I took a step closer.  I saw one thing at a time.  I can chip away at things one by one & clear up all of this one thing at a time.

The election will be over on Monday, after that we can focus on Brewster’s health.  While doing that we’ll look for a house.  Through all of this I’ll get back into my smaller routine of exercising daily.  There will be interruptions but that’s life.  Ideally we’d be moving into our new house by mid-November, but it’s been purchased, we can’t change that, just move on & keep doing our thing.

If you’re of age & not easily offended I hope you’ve seen “Deadpool”, if not you’re WAY too late!  Since the 3rd Deadpool could be in the beginning stages!?

Sell out or don’t, as long as you’re happy with where you are & how you got there & didn’t forget the people that helped you get there, be happy but humble!

My last 2 album purchases before Christmas are released today.  “Alter Bridge” & “Jimmy Eat World”.  I know I’ll be listening to a TON of “Alter Bridge”, “TOOL”, “Big Wreck”, “In Flames”, “Billie Eilish”, etc. for the rest of the year!  There was a TON of great music that was released this year & it’s only mid-October!

P.S. I had to pick up a prescription this morning for my bladder infection, that’s why this is a bit late.  Back from the doctor, no bladder infection I have to “retrain” my bladder.  I needed some refills on other medications too.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Jimmy Eat World” the album “Bleed American”

I exercised to “The Beatles” the album “Number 1” all of their songs that hit number 1.

I didn’t get to bed as early as I had hoped Sunday night.  Monday I slept in later than I’d have liked.  I like to get up & get things done ASAP.  It tends to get warm in here the later I get up to exercise.  Exercising at noon is something I never do for a reason.  I’m typically done my exercise by 10-11:00 am, if not earlier.  I usually get up by 8:00 am at the latest, some days I’m partially done my exercises when Kim heads off to work at 7:30 am.

Unfortunately we already have snow here as of Sunday evening but it didn’t stick around luckily!

Kim’s teeth will be finished in October.  Then Brewster will have some tests done, followed by some medication.

We’re looking at buying our dream/forever home but we have to sell this place before we buy the other.  No conditional offers will be taken by the current owners of the other place.  They got an offer yesterday, this means we’re in limbo until they accept or reject the offer today or multiple other scenarios happen, so we’ll see.  It would have been our forever/dream home.  Great spot for me in a wheelchair & a nice house for Kim too.  Ah well, not much we can do now but wait.

At least these aren’t non-sense expenses.  It’s not like I have a job to pay for them either.  If we couldn’t afford it, Kim wouldn’t agree to it.  We’ve both cut back on a few luxuries to make this more realistic.

Those are the things that keep me up at night.  It’s that or the fact that I can’t live without stress.  Even this last month & a bit.  If I’m not doing something, I’m thinking about it & what else I need to do.  Now I need to figure out how to relax!

New “Opeth” was released on Friday, September 27.  Here’s a review from a metal fan.

James Hetfield (Metallica) helped Randy Blythe (Lamb of God) get sober 9 years ago.

I just find this funny.  I’m passionate about music.  At the same time I realize that not everyone will enjoy the same type of music.  The question “Who’s the best band in the world, living or dead?” there’s no answer to that, don’t lose any sleep over that.  Who do you like?  That’s a question with an answer & you’ll get many different answers!

I may be a rock & metal fan, but we don’t all do drugs, smoke, drink, & swear.  I swear at myself or in jest & I drink socially.  That’s me, whatever any other people do or don’t do is completely up to themselves.

The people I associate with aren’t those wild partying types.  They’re responsible parents.  Yes, I’m THAT old!!!!

HEART

I’ve got a greatest hits album that’s all.  I clicked on the “autofill” button years ago on iTunes & was flooded with albums.  Most of them I got rid of & didn’t want.  I think I kept about 8 of them?  There was likely a minimum of 50 that showed up though.  This likely happened in 2005 or 2006?  I’m not necessarily “pro” or “anti” Heart.  I wouldn’t seek them out, but I also didn’t delete the album.  For me, they’re a band that’s there doing their thing.  Before the album was on my iTunes I knew some of their songs, I figured “Great!  Free music I can appreciate.”

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.  “Foo Fighters”, “Radiohead”, “Testament”, “Tool”, & “Opeth”

Friday evening we caught up on some TV from the week.  We seem to be quite busy these days & not watch nearly as much TV as we used to.  With Kim being at work & me being busy at home and moving a bit slower than I’d like in a wheelchair, we watch Ellen Degeneres, another show, & one of us will watch something the doesn’t want to.  I do watch a recorded Late Show with Stephen Colbert the next day while Kim’s at work.

My tummy was a bit off Friday night, so I didn’t sleep great.  Hello couch Saturday morning & all is well!  I slept for about 2 or 3 hours on the couch after finally getting out of bed at about 6 am, slept from 8:40 am until 11:50 am or so & was ready to go.  All we had on was our “niece’s” 6th birthday party at 5 pm.

“Auntie Kim, what’s in the present?”  Nice try but Auntie Kim’s smarter than a 6 year old.  I got cuddles from our 1 ½ year old “nephew” as soon as he saw me.  Kim was only a little “jealous”.

I’m sure our “niece” had a long day.  Presents, cake, kids birthday party followed by family friends birthday party, hide & seek, & what looked like mechanical bull riding on a small bouncy toy cow.  Sort of looked like this sheep….

Always good times with the kids!

Today is a get ready for a, hopefully, busy week ahead.  My eggs & vegetable juice are done.  Now to get hyped up to cram as much exercise & guitar in.  Watch the last Blue Jays game of the year, clear off as much of the DVR as possible & get to bed at a reasonable hour tonight.

If you like vinyl, here’s a “Nirvana” reissue!

The making of Alter Bridges’ new album “Walk the Sky” out October 18th

YAY!!  It’s official & done Spider-man is back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Off the record with Alter Bridge!

Sure, rock & metal music are starting to come back.  Both genres aren’t popular enough for the stage of the Super Bowl Half-Time Show…..yet.  I’m not sure Dee Snider of 80s band “Twisted Sister” is the guy to call out the NFL at this point?

All the best to him, he’s been down this road before & it has worked out for him in the past!

New “Jimmy Eat World” album out called “Surviving” on October 18th.

BURN THE PRIEST

This is actually “Lamb of God”.  Their first album was released under the name “Burn the Priest”, I’ve never been a fan of that album.  They did release a cover album last year under the name “Burn the Priest”.  This is an album of cover songs that cross the punk/metal influences they have…

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today’s the final day of the regular season for baseball.  Which means I’m done with the Blue Jays for the year.  There was no hope of them making the playoffs months ago.

162 games per team in a season.  With game left today, the Jays are right where I predicted they’d be 66W-95L.  I figured at the start of the year they’d finish with 65-75 wins this year.  In 2020 or more likely 2021 I figure they’ll be a contender.  Other teams are already calling them a dangerous team.  They’re the 2nd youngest team in baseball for average age of players.  They get a few decent pitchers in the offseason & keep the young guys together, they’ll be fine.  The kids are alright.
