We had 4 Christmas’ this year.  First up was Christmas with Kim’s family.  Opened gifts here on Christmas Eve, then spent the 25th at Sherry & James’ place.  Played games, had our Christmas meal & watched a movie.  Kim’s family went home on Boxing Day.

In the afternoon of Boxing Day, Corey, Jolene, & Hannah came over in the mid-afternoon to have our Christmas we have with them as we do normally.  No big meal though!  Thank goodness.

The only problem for me was trying to figure out how to get into Sherry & James’ house.  It’s a nice place but not wheelchair friendly.  I made it in without falling!  I don’t think I’ve ever fallen there.  James’ brother Jeffrey was with us for 1/2 Christmas Day, & here on Christmas Eve as well.  He’s a really nice guy to chat with.

On the 27th we had Christmas with my family.  We all did an escape room.  2 teams of 5 people.  My uncle, his girlfriend, & 2 cousins were with us for Christmas.  We had pizza for supper, then opened gifts, & finished the evening with a game of Pictionary & Mad Gab.

After we had just finished opening gifts, my parents got a call from a paramedic in Calgary.  My grandparents were in Airdrie for Christmas staying with my aunt, uncle & 2 cousins.  They had dropped my grandparents of at the airport to fly home.  They hadn’t boarded the plane & my grandmother had “a small heart attack” they said.

They think it was cardio myopathy.  I guess it really damaged her heart & her brain wasn’t working quite right.  Mom & Dad were on the phone a lot on Friday (29th) keeping other family members up to date.

On the 28th I did absolutely nothing, I was REALLY tired.  Kim went over to visit Jolene & Hannah.  Their dog Dug needed to have a play date with Brewster.  Kim thought Corey was working, so I stayed home & watched “The X-Files” on Netflix.  I should have had a nap instead.  I was too young to watch this when it was on TV, but I can’t wait for the new season.

Friday the 29th was Christmas with my mother’s side of the family at my cousin’s house in Rouleau (pronounced Rolo).  Aunts, uncles, cousins & all of my cousin’s young kids.  More of a family get together.  No gifts or anything just appetizers & a turkey dinner.  Unfortunately Mitch & Dad were both ill & stayed home.

It’s REALLY cold out today, December 30, 2017, we’re not leaving the house today however, I’m wearing my usual attire of shorts & a T-Shirt though.  I even asked Kim for some of the comforter in the middle of the night.  That’s very rare.  Make a note on your calendar!

Cold day, a good day to hunker down & watch movies with Kimmy.  She found a “Rocky” marathon.  She loves those movies.  Yes, we own them all, from the first “Rocky” all the way to “#Creed”.

I don’t like to speak about my Christmas gifts.  It’s very embarrassing to me.  I’m grateful for them, but also embarrassed by the amount of stuff I receive.  I prefer & enjoy giving gifts.  That’s one of the reason I don’t talk about what I’ve received.  Please don’t ask?

Well, it’s New Year’s Eve December 31, 2017 means I’m 9 years cancer free.  I’m still in a wheelchair, iPatch over my left eye, & still on 5 medications.  All of that being said, I’m fine.

We spent New Year’s with Corey, Jolene, Hannah, Gosha, Twyla, & Elouise (spelling may be off here).  Yes we were home & in bed before midnight.

Kim has the entire week off, but I’ll start my workouts on Tuesday.   I’m going to change it up a bit throughout the year so it doesn’t become the same daily routine.  You’ll still get a weekly total though!

Just spoke with my mother, mom & dad may be heading to the Alberta boarder to pick up my grandparents this weekend (6th & 7th).  Just the other day grandma thought the year was 1532, she was in a mall, & had been there for 2.5 years.  Sounds like she is doing better now.  When the paramedic called on the 27th we were all shocked that they said Jean Fraser was in the back of the ambulance?  Grandpa is the one with a bad heart.  I guess I’m lucky to still have two grandparents alive at my age.  I also got to know 3 of my great grandmothers.

Another tune from “A Perfect Circle”

If I knew in 2017 what I know now, Pink, U2, The Devin Townsend Project, & Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds would have appeared on my top albums of the year.

Pink – Beautiful Trauma

U2 – Songs of Experience

No, I didn’t care for their free album either, “Songs of Innocence”

The Devin Townsend Project – Transcendence

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Who Built the Moon?

I’ll do a review of these albums over the next 4 posts.  If you’ve never enjoyed U2, you probably won’t like their new album.  As a U2 fan, I REALLY like it.

The more you share this, the more readers I get.  No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.

Why did this become a music blog?  “Because music is a BIG @#! $ %^*&( DEAL”-Dave Grohl

Let’s get some more people on board? Don’t feel as though you need to click on every link. I’ll do this so nobody else has to. I’m on facebook & email only. I’ve found people on face book that I’ve lost track of over the years, everybody has an email address for social media sites, might as well us it for this blog. I have no intention of putting this on twitter, instagram, facebook, etc. it’s an old fashion website. Up there are instructions on how to subscribe. I’m at 45 subscribers so all 45 of you please help me out? DO I HEAR 50, 50, 50? Don’t worry, I won’t use the email addresses unless told to.
Even though you subscribe to the blog I always recommend coming to the site to read it in case someone comments on a topic. Comments are always welcomed. If you’re using “Google Chrome” as a web browser on a PC the links will be open to show you the title, artist & a still photo of the video. Mac computers I know nothing about.

Give the site a minute or 2 to load all of the links & everything should be fine.

Hard rock fans, buy this “Red Dragon” album by Room 333, which is compared to “La Gargola” by Chevelle!

Black Sabbath reunion? Drummer Bill Ward has a demand.

I still can’t enjoy listening to ‘Mastodon’. I do like ‘Clutch’ though

I don’t mind the most recent album by Mastodon though, it’s decent.

‘Theory of a Deadman’ go acoustic for EP

‘Guitar Hero’ trailer

YIPEE! I don’t have the physical space for a vinyl collection & I’m not about to purchase Neil Young’s “Pono” device for vinyl. It’s an iPod for vinyl that you rent & rip onto his software. When my iPod classic dies, I’m done. I’ll listen to iTunes on my home stereo.

Dave Grohl will always be a “Diehard fan” of Metallica. To each their own.

My brother, the banker

‘No Days” with Jeffrey Hastings on guitar!

19 years ago ‘Rage Against the Machine’ released the album “Evil Empire”

If you’re a fan of ‘Halestorm’ you may enjoy ‘The Pretty Reckless’

I don’t like pre 1985 ‘Rush’ but this funny. A puppet playing “Tom Sawyer” on tin cans. Just turn off the audio if you don’t like it.

I’m not big on rap music but here’s one of the top 100 most influential people decided by Time magazine, which I can oddly enough understand the decision.

If I start to listen to rap music I’d likely get his greatest hits if he releases a greatest hits album.

40 acts that should be in the ‘Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’. Some of them I don’t like but I agree they should be inducted

Yup, no Canadian dates for Tremonti.

Green Day from punk to platinum or as I say from awesome to ‘American Idiot’ WARNING!!

They lost me at ‘Deftones’ & ‘Incubus’ then “…totally redeem themselves…” with ‘Death from Above 1979!

The new ‘Incubus’ release might be OK? I haven’t checked it out. It’s a five song EP to be released in May. I don’t think I need it. It sounds good but I’d likely not listen to it much.

Here you go ‘KISS’ fans! Dress like ‘KISS’

‘Undateable’ is one of my top new TV shows HILARIOUS!!

New ‘Star Wars’ movie has a release date!!!

New ‘Star Wars’ trailer! I just got goose bumps

I’m pretty sure Rolling Stone magazine is excited about the new Star Wars movie. They just shared the same trailer again!

Don Henley’s solo plans

Then this group covered it

I need to listen to Jimmy Eat World more often

I said I get stuck on an album. I really just get stuck on a band or solo artist. I listen to the latest album then go back to previous album(s)

I like ‘Slayer’ in small samples though. Here’s a new song

I read that the next Metallica album will be more progressive metal.

Lars Ulrich (Metallica drummer) joins ‘Royal Blood’ on stage last night

Louis C.K. quits twitter. LANGUAGE IN THE LINKS INSIDE!!! Read the article though if you like.

Paramore call customer who’s ordered from their web store

My question is, why do I have to be on twitter or Facebook to “vote” for someone in a “reality” show or anything else? Everybody has email, not everyone is on Facebook or twitter. This blog isn’t touching the 2 social media sites, why? Because everyone has an email address! Did that not clue in anyone when they joined one or both of those sites? I’ve found people from the past that I’ve lost track of over the years. I follow musicians/bands & music blogs. How do I do that? With my EMAIL!!! If I could leave facebook & still get the information from it, I would in a heart beat!

I’ll be offline tomorrow. Kim has an EDO tomorrow. I’m going to hang out with my wife tomorrow. Have a great weekend!

Songs I like. “Dixie Chicks”. How often do I listen to them? Almost never, Kim likes them & they don’t bother me at all. I like them, they’re my go to country group.
