Kim & I didn’t sign up for cancer to be a big part of our life, but it is.  Kim helps me when needed & sometimes when I don’t need it, but she gets concerned that whatever may be too difficult for me.  I’ve had to adapt how I do things, like hand washing the dishes.  The first few times it was awkward and hurt slightly because of the wheelchair.  Different way of leaning over the sink.  Eventually I figured out how to do it “My Way”.  I may be slower at most things, but I can do them.  If something I’m doing around a large group affects others, either I get out of the way or people can just ask me to move, I don’t want to ruffle any feathers!

My parents & I have Saskatchewan Roughriders, football, tickets.  This will be the first season at a new stadium.  In the old stadium we’d get there about 45 minutes or more before game time & be among the last 100 or 200 people to leave.  I had to go up & down about 10 stairs to get to my seat, but dad & I tried to wait so we wouldn’t delay anyone entering or leaving the stadium.

I try not to bother others & I’m not bothered by others who ask me to get out of their way.  I know my wheelchair can be an obstacle for others, I have no problem moving.  I try not to rely on others either for help.  I almost always tell people “I’ve got this, don’t worry, I’ll ask for help if I need it.”  I don’t need help with everything, don’t worry.  If it’s my first time doing something I need some supervision the first few times until I can figure out how to do it my way, so I can at least minimize any help needed.

I can deal with a band not touring in 2017 if they have nothing booked & are recording a new album.  As long as they don’t take 10,000 days (like Tool) to do it.

http://loudwire.com/bottle-rock-organizer-foo-fighters-may-play-one-north-american-show-2017-plan-work-new-album/

From the album “10,000 Days” by Tool.  Latest release since 2006.  The longer they take, my expectations of the album become larger.  Yes, pun intended!  We’re only 10 years/ 3,650 days in.  We may have to wait another 20 years!  Hahahahahahaha!

I would love it if more bands did a full North American tour.  If they did one show in every state & province.  The closest Canadian date is Toronto?  It would take 2 maybe 2.5 days of driving from Regina to Toronto, but this is what most “North American” tours look like.  This is an actual tour itinerary for a band that shall remain nameless.  They are situated in America.

Sat/Jan-21 – Mobile, AL

Sun/Jan-22 – Atlanta, GA

Tue/Jan-24 – Detroit, MI

Wed/Jan-25 – Chicago, IL

If we’re lucky someone will go through Vancouver, B.C. which is also quite the hike from Regina!  Even Canadian groups don’t even think about touring in Saskatchewan, yet In Flames, from Sweden, schedule a tour date 2 hours north in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  It’s a boring drive, but 2 or 2.5 hours in a car is better than nothing!  At the moment we’re in no shape of considering to pay for airline tickets, a hotel, & concert tickets while grabbing a meals from any type of restaurant.

Kim’s 2007 New Year’s Eve resolution was “to be a better wife”.  I found it written on a small piece of paper in our previous house.  I’ve always thought “How could she be any better?”  I’m not keeping score, that shouldn’t happen in a marriage, but if I was I’d easily be losing.  She’s AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

Halestorm vs. The Pretty Reckless.  I like both groups, bad song choice for both though.

I’m OK.  I got VERY lucky & survived cancer.  Now all of this exercise I do is to try to survive surviving cancer.  Do I want to be in a wheelchair forever?  No.  Only I can fix that.  Everyone’s support & help is greatly appreciated!  I can’t just say to someone “Hey, would you take over my exercises today?”  When I was in a coma, or just not with it at all.  I would dream that I could just pass everything over to Kim for a day or 2.  How wrong was I?!?!  I’m sure if I had asked & it was possible she would have one so in a heartbeat.  Unfortunately that’s not how things work.  I still question a few things about my cancer such as “Why was it me?” & “Was God testing me, or was the Devil trying to kill me?”  I’m pretty sure both of those questions will remain unanswered for a very long time.

I did my exercises & burned off some of the thanksgiving supper.  I really didn’t want to do them, but I could hear my exercise mat judging me a few feet away.

I burn the candle from both ends.  My exercises Monday–Friday seem to be taking longer, which means after I finish one of these I do stuff around the house, then hit the couch closer to 4:00 pm.  Kim & I have supper, then watch TV like it’s going “out of style”.  I watched a marathon of TV Monday night.   Next week there’s another ½ hour sitcom, then the week after that I’ll check out another ½ hour sitcom.  Monday nights are packed with TV shows.  I had to just stop preordering music from iTunes as well.  It seems like the calendar flipped to October & everybody got together & said “Hey, let’s pack all of the TV shows into Monday & a butt load of music releases in before the end of the year”

It feels like sensory overload right now!  These are the shows I record/try to watch on a Monday.  Every evening Kim & I watch “Ellen” as soon as Kim walks through the door, I’ll watch “Jimmy Fallon” & “Conan” the next day if I have time or save them for later on in the week.

“Kevin can wait”

“The Big Bang Theory”

“Supergirl”

“Scorpion”

“Gotham”

And coming up……………..

“The Odd Couple”

“Man with a Plan”

I wish everything was spread out evenly over the course of the week.  It’s almost stressful Monday nights.  We record “Dancing with the Stars” for Kim as well.  Thank goodness every week day isn’t like this.

Come November 18th I’ll have to stop buying music.  I have “Highly Suspect” on preorder & no more preorders from here on out.  Kim said stop so I will.  No Metallica or Bruno Mars until Kim gives me the OK.  I’m assuming there will be more releases but I’ll listen to them on our Apple Music account aka Satellite Radio x 1000 along with Metallica & Bruno Mars.  I’m terrible with money.

I know for sure that “Into Eternity” has recorded an album.  They also signed with a different label which could be holding back the release since they finished it in the summer of 2015.

Metallica & Bruno Mars, & whatever else is released, I’ll have to wait for despite a November 18th release date.

No, I’m good.  Why are there so many “reboots”/”remakes” of movies from the past.  I’m not going to like a remake if I didn’t like the story 30 years?  I saw the remake of “The Jungle Book”.  I didn’t like the cartoon movie as a kid & I did not enjoy the live remake of the same story I didn’t like as a child.  Now they’re doing a remake of “Aladdin”?  Don’t screw it up, actually do what you want with it, I’ll watch the Disney cartoon from the 1990s.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING CANADA!

Thanksgiving weekend & Kim’s parents & brother came down.  We had our turkey day on Sunday at Sherry & James’ place.  Good to see them!  They live near Prince Albert, roughly 3 ½ hours north of Regina.  We haven’t been to their house since 2007.  Too long!  Since I had cancer, they come to Regina.  If Kim’s younger brother can get time off work he come as well.  He made it down this weekend.

I don’t know what it was but shortly after 5:00 pm yesterday, before supper, I could have easily fallen asleep in my chair?  Even today we got up & started cleaning, after a little more than an hour, Kim & I were both exhausted?

Thursday I went to this show at the Casino & then Saturday I returned to see a different show.

Went to the Casino again Saturday.  This time to see “I Mother Earth” their 20th anniversary of the album “Scenery & Fish”.  Yes, I was 16 when this album was released.  They broke up after their 4th album.  I saw them once in ’96 in Saskatoon on tour for this album & once in 1999 or 2000 on tour for their 3rd album.  “Scenery & Fish” is the most popular album of theirs, I think I read somewhere that it went 3 x platinum.  That seems to me to be an overstatement?  The only thing missing from the show was my mother.  My brother & I should have been washing the dishes listening to this album with our parents in the living room & my mother shouting at us “TURN THAT CRAP DOWN!!!!”  I don’t think she likes I Mother Earth?  I could be wrong though?

Fantastic show though!  They came out & played the entire “Scenery & Fish” album in order.  That’s something I think fans would like to see most bands do?  Play the entire new album & then a few other songs.  Most of these songs I’d never heard live, & probably never will again.

If they continue to tour & release singles, it’s pretty much a guarantee that you’ll hear these first two songs & maybe more?

These 2 songs are pretty much a guarantee to hear!

Yes, they’re a Canadian band.  This is from their 2nd album release in 1996.  This was only the 3rd time I’ve seen them live.  Once in 1996, 1999 or 2000 & this Saturday.

Can’t say I’ve ever been a big fan of Iggy Pop, but here’s an interview he did with Rolling Stone

Far too much good music coming out near the end of the year!  4 albums on preorder & a few I’ll wait on.  Here are the preorders I have yet to receive on iTunes finishing on November 18th

A couple of albums I know are coming out in November that I’ll have to wait for.  Gotta save cash for Christmas!  Always more important to give rather than receive!

I don’t know what it is about “Bruno Mars” I just find his music incredibly catchy!  I’m still cautious about getting the Metallica album?

Possibly “Into Eternity”, “Big Wreck”, “Royal Blood” & “Paramore”?

I like the new “Green Day” album, for me, it’s the third best album of the 3 I bought on Friday though.

STICKS & STONES MAY BREAK MY BONES……………….

Broken bones will heal. Words can hurt, especially if the victim has a good memory & tends to dwell on such things. Swearing is just words, I don’t mind them, they’re words with no meaning for me. I’m not going to use them since the entire world has labeled them as bad. If you’re offended by profanity, that’s fine…………..I get it. You’re the one who has defined it as a bad word, not me. This may seem odd to many but if you want to hurt ME in particular, swearing has little to no effect on me.

I Mother Earth is marking this year as the 20th anniversary of “Scenery + Fish” playing the entire album front to back & some other stuff!!!!! “Scenery + Fish” was their break through album, their 2nd of 4 albums released when I was 16 years old. It went triple platinum in Canada! This also marks 20 years since they played in Saskatchewan. I saw them at the age of 16 in Saskatoon on the tour for this album!

Hi everyone…yes been a bit quiet around here lately. That is about to change. 2016 is shaping up to be a pretty cool year for us and we just wanted to tell you a bit of what’s going on. This year is actually the 20th anniversary of our 2nd album, Scenery & Fish. That album did some pretty damn good things for us and took us around the world. It went triple platinum here in Canada, with four singles released from it. That shit just doesn’t happen anymore. So… we thought we’d celebrate a little. We’re hitting the road with S+F 20 Celebrating 20 years of Scenery & Fish. We’re going to play the whole album front to back as well as a bunch of other stuff to round the night out. A nice long evening with your pals, The Mothers. We have other announcements to come that fall under the S & F umbrella so please stay tuned…We’ve been busy. Anywhoo, here are the first couple of shows announced, more to come. Yell if you want us. Friday April 22, O’Brian’s Event Centre, Saskatoon. Saturday April 23, Casino Regina, Regina”

This weeks exercise total is 110 push ups, 840 crunches, ½ hour of yoga, 120 squats, 800 meters of walking w/ Kim & my walker 200 one day, 600 Thursday (no rest periods), 40 leg lifts on my hands & knees also 40 on my back! As I look at that, even I’m impressed?!

The arena in Regina holds 7,129 for concerts (including the floor area). Saskatoon’s arena holds 15,195 (not including the floor) 2.5 hours north of Regina. Moose Jaw’s arena holds 5,000+ including the floor, 45 minutes west of Regina!

Motley Crue with opener Big Wreck went on tour last year & when they came to Saskatchewan they played in Moose Jaw. Why? I’m sure they could draw a much larger audience, go to Saskatoon if there is no event planned for that day? I’ve been to Saskatoon more than I care to count. Regina’s arena does not sound good with a musical act. We saw “Ed Sheeran” last year here in Regina. It’s him playing acoustic guitar & a digital foot pedal to fill out the “band”. The second he turned the foot pedal on the sound was VERY distorted in an awful way. The arena in Regina is well known for bad sound at a concert. Regina’s the Capital of Saskatchewan, but to see a big name act we either drive out of the Province to Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg or in the Province to Saskatoon, or now Moose Jaw. We have few smaller venues with capacity of 300-1000. I haven’t been to Moose Jaw’s arena, but the drive to Saskatoon is getting really old!

Lamb of God” shared it….

This could go 2 ways. People will watch it because of Marilyn Manson doing a guest appearance or they’ll get negative fast & boycott whatever he’s involved in? Any publicity is good publicity, at least people will talk about him & the show. Heck, I’m talking about him now, you’re welcome Eminem aka M & M! Anyone else craving peanuts & chocolate?

Did anyone watch “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” yesterday? I thought it would be characters from the DC comics like, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, etc. It was all Marvel characters that have been on “The Flash” or “Arrow”. I didn’t watch the entire show, I was expecting something different? As for comic series I only watch “The Flash” & “Gotham”. I really like “The Flash”

Radiohead’s 4th album ‘Kid A’ turns 15 today, which means 15 years ago tomorrow I stopped listening to any future Radiohead release, other than ‘In Rainbows’ which I wouldn’t recommend to anyone, you’ll hate it or think it’s OK. If you’re hard core Radiohead fan you’ll love it.
