Today’s workout was brought to you by “Matt Mays & El Torpedo”!

Everybody wants to know are the Toronto Blue Jays going to sign free agent pitcher David Price? It’s a 50/50 shot, cross that bridge when you get there. If they do Edwin Encarnacion is up for free agency at the end of next season as well as José Bautista. All of them will want $20-$30 million a year to be locked in until the end of their careers. You have 3 first basemen in Encarnacion, Justin Smoak, & Chris Colabello. Edwin Encarnacion has the biggest price tag by millions of $, & the newly acquired & signed Short Stop Troy Tulowitski will be making $20,000,000 a year for the next 4 years. Yet you have someone young, Ryan Goins, who’s glove is reminiscent of Roberto Alomar & is able to play 2B, SS, or 3B. He may not have a powerful swing but he gets on base. Whether they sign David Price or not, the end of the 2016 season could turn out to be a rebuilding year from 2017 on. I say throw money at David Price & either Bautista or Encarnacion. Maybe think about Tulowitzki at SS. I have nothing against any of the players personally, but I’d trade R.A. Dickey and Josh Thole also. Dickey has no clue where his one pitch (Knuckle ball) is going to end up & Thole is his personal catcher, who adds minimal offense. That would free up a PILE of cash. You’ve got the bones of a World Series winner the question is are you going to act on it now or let it slip away? Don’t forget the revenue increase just by making it to the playoffs, millions of viewers on TV, millions of fans in the seats, & millions sold on merchandise. Way more than in 1993!

The fact that Toronto sports analysts are talking about baseball on call in shows in November is a GIGANTIC NEON sign to Rogers Communications. You’re a multi billion dollar organization. Maybe open the purse strings & strike when the Jays are HOT?

Lzzy Hale (Halestorm) with Stone Sour (Slipknot light) covering The Rolling Stones Sorry, wouldn’t let me work my magic?

I’ve never heard of “Armored Saint”

Another song that won’t let me work my magic for you?

In Flames roadie documentary. In Flames are classified as a Swedish melodic death metal band. When I saw them on the final tour by ‘Sounds of the Underground’, an underground metal tour that James & I were at to see “Trivium”, the In Flames sound check was HILARIOUS & DISTURBING! A roadie came out to test the microphone & said “The little boys ass. The ass of a little boy” in a very thick Swedish accent!

American tour dates with Anthrax opening for Lamb of God. I always put on my iPod when I sleep & Lamb of God put me to sleep last night!

I know………it’s weird. Metal or hard rock has been my go to sleep music since I got my first CD player/Boom box.

My Grandparents, on my mother’s side of the family, got me a walkman in the 1980s & a cassette with it. Alabama. I try to avoid country music because so much of it has that southern twang to it. I began recording songs to cassettes from the radio in my bedroom. I do remember recording ‘Prince’ on AM radio. When 1300 CJME was a rock station.

All of these “social media” sites require one thing, email! You join a social media site & TONS of people totally forget that they have an email. I always check both, why? Because not everyone has a facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. account. Everybody on these sites has an email account! How often does anyone send you an email via one of these sites? I do because some people are a touch stubborn & refuse to use their email. What did you do before the invention of You used email probably. I get it, it’s a personal choice. Just remember that not everyone likes these sites. I use facebook mostly for these blogs & a handful of people who have problems with their email account.

This music blog was for those who like similar music as I, & those who don’t want to be on a social media site. If it wasn’t for this blog, I’d be long gone from facebook!

Last night’s baseball game between the Toronto Blue Jays 78W-59L & the Boston Red Sox 65W-72L prior to the game was a nail biter for me. Tied 1-1 into the 10th inning. Then the Toronto Blue Jay bats woke up & everything bounced Toronto’s way to win 5-1 in the end. I was nervous, I may have peed a bit on the couch. (Shh! Don’t tell Kim?)

I know baseball’s not for everyone, I get it. This has been an exciting time for the Blue Jays though! First time the fans have seen meaningful baseball in September since the early ’90s!

It’s not totally fixed, but we are closer than we were. At this point I think I should be receiving a paycheck in the mail courtesy of Apple. There has been quite a few households deleting iTunes Match. Meanwhile I’ve finished deleting & adding files that Apple screwed up with the launch of their new streaming service, Apple Music, on June 30th? They pretty much gave Match/iTunes users the middle finger, dropped the mic, & walked away.

Funny, Steve Jobs dies at a young age unfortunately, & Apple makes mistake after mistake, making users of their products angrier & angrier? I’m not angry, I’m confused. I have enough time on my hands to run in circles & see if things will work on try 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 or 50?

I’ve been a little stressed out lately. The iTunes problem is constantly on my mind, which of course some would call it a minor issue which is fine it’s a big deal for me.

The thing that worries me the most is Brewster. He turned 9 (human years) on January 31st. He’s whining, growling, panting, trying to hide, & sulking around here with his tail down. It’s as if he got 40 years older over night late last week? Kim took him to the vet yesterday. He’s back on anxiety pills & has been calm today. He always done those thing around kids & babies, when we have more than 2 people over or if there is a thunder storm. Now he’s like that all of the time, unless Kim is home. His pills must be doing the trick, he’s asleep in his dog bed.

I’ve thought about my idea for people spending money on music. I don’t think anything will change unless customers habit’s & label habit’s change. I like digital music & having a preview of what you’re about to spend money on. Maybe digital files don’t sound great to people, fair enough go & by vinyl records or CDs, they’re still there & cassettes are making a come back too. CDs & vinyl can easily be scratched, fact, so take care of them if you want to use them if you’ve put them on your iTunes, iPod or phone. I don’t have the physical space for them & I listen to my iTunes more on the home stereo than I do on my iPod, & I’m fine with digital files.

Apple, pay attention please, an iTunes user has a statement about your service. iTunes is a great idea, in that it’s very convenient. For a song purchase maybe $0.50 for Apple as well as $0.50 for the label & $1.00 for the artist if they choose so? For a full album download $1.00 for the label, $1.00 for Apple & $0.00-$13.00 for the artist, you know, the people doing the grunt work for you? What are you going to do if the artists can’t survive on the money they’re making at the moment? Cancel or diminish the music portion of iTunes? I, personally, am surprised by the amount of new artists signing to a label with their album all over the internet for free & being successful with that process?

If music is free, let’s have everything be free. Groceries BAH I’m not paying for that or anything else ever again! Let us all riot & have whatever we want whenever we want. It’s happening with music, Netflix & other such things. So why not with everything? “I’m not paying so & so for that product! It should be free”! If that’s the case, everybody quit your job, you don’t need it everything is free or stay with your job & watch your paycheck slowly diminish in front of your eyes. Take your job on tour & do it in front of an audience. What? You don’t have the money to go out & do your job in front of people? Oh well, better luck next time, I guess.

Get your music however you want. Only the rich (labels & streaming sites) are getting richer. I don’t think $15 will break you for an album. For all of this to work, almost everyone will have to change the way they think, so it likely wont happen? Before I was diagnosed with cancer, I’d go into HMV & see a rack of CDs priced at 2 for $25 or 3 for $30, sweet deal. If I could find however many, 2 or 3 on the shelf, I’d buy them instantly!

Who on earth gets up before 8:00am on a Sunday? Parents with young children & those who have to work. I’m neither of those. Kim wanted to go out for a run, I wanted to sleep……………..I didn’t win that battle. “10:00pm, we should go to bed, early morning tomorrow” I think we just aged ourselves? 10:00 pm on a Saturday? That’s ridiculous!

I’m sure there won’t be a rock or metal festival on the Canadian prairies (Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba) that’s pretty much a guarantee at this point.

I’ve seen U2 in concert. When they we’re closer to the U2 from the ’80s & ’90s I’m good & I don’t have the cash to spend on that type of show out of province.

I had totally forgot about P.O.D. they were a flash in the pan for me. top 100 alternative albums from the ’90s. The ’90s, that’s my music. I started high school in ’93. I was born in 1980 nobody around me in the ’80s listened to ’80s hair metal, so that’s not my thing. In the ’90s I found the music I wanted to hear over & over again. I would take my disc man to school to listen to before school started, listen to it on my bike to & from school & the 5 minutes between classes in the hallways. Then every night I’d fall asleep with my music on quietly in my room.

Sorry. I got a little excited there.

When I was actually battling cancer in the Pasqua hospital having my first of 7 cortisone shots. Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel announced a tour that included Saskatoon, & I really wanted to go, then I heard the price of the tickets & I was positive I didn’t want to go. 2+ hour drive with two ticket each priced at $350 a piece! NO! I don’t care who you are, I’m not paying that amount to see anyone. Yes, I like Simon & Garfunkel, I own a 3 CD box set. I bought it in 1997 while in grade 11.

Classic rock’s tracks of the week.

I agree Corey Taylor (Slipknot & Stone Sour vocalist) Fall Out Boy are not about to “Save Rock n’ Roll”. I wouldn’t consider them a rock group at all. They are a decent pop band though, for me anyways. They released an album in 2013 called “Save Rock n’ Roll”.

You never want to hear or see this at any concert!

Anybody still listen to “Dragon Force”? They have a DVD coming out. They got old for me after the second listen of their 1st album “Look at me I can play a billion notes in 3:30 minutes”. Good for you, you just keep doing your thing. Talented but every song sounded like a competition to fit more notes into the next song?

Songs I like. “Halestorm” 3 studio albums, 2 EPs each have 5 cover songs & 1 live album.

I’m not really a fan of their cover songs, maybe if they were live recordings?

Why is EVERYTHING on Social Media? Everyone has an email but not everyone uses it for Facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. I’m on Facebook & email. Apparently that’s not enough? One of the bands I used to “follow” on Facebook said “Hey, join our twitter page”, why? I’m following you on facebook, is there more info on twitter that you’re not sharing on facebook? How about every web site join whatever social media site & just share links to whatever is on their web site? This blog isn’t touching any type of social media site. Why? BECAUSE NOT EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD IS ON A SOCIAL MEDIA SITE! I use my email to talk with friends who have working email address’, a few people don’t have that? I don’t plan to be on facebook in forever, if I do, it will only be because of the information on facebook. Facebook is very time consuming for me. I like to get up while Kim is getting ready for work, pour myself some fruit & vegetable juice, a coffee & some water. I come in here, start my blog post, exercise, have lunch, finish up my blog post around, then hit the couch to watch something Kim doesn’t care to watch or something on Netflix. Album review of ‘Tremonti’s’ “Cauterize”

Isn’t every song on every album supposed to sound different than the previous song? You can’t make one song with the same guitar riff, beat, bass line, chord progression, keyboard part, horn part, etc. That would be a very boring album for me anyways.

I have some problems listening to an album that has little to no dynamics. Every album can’t just coast by at 10 on every song. I usually want to hear something that is unexpected for the album. Sure I like metal & yes it’s usually the same dynamic throughout the album. There are many different genres that stay at a certain comfort level & that’s fine. Personally after x amount of time, I get bored with it & need something different. Something that makes me feel human. Something that will shake me & make me feel all of my emotions. That’s what music does for me!

Power’s in a brown out. No internet, TV, Phone, Fridge, Freezer, lights work if it’s dim in the kitchen, etc. just weird? I can do stuff on my computer but not connect to the internet? It’s 1:11 the brown out began a few minutes after 12. When all is working I’ll “…..carry on…..”. 2:00 I’m back!

There’s one studio song from each album including “Wheels” from The Greatest Hits album, as well as “Best of You” & “Virginia Moon” from the double album
