That officially makes 3 nights at home with me sleeping on the couch.  Big renovations are done but everything is dusty & my transfer pole beside the bed isn’t back up yet.  We’ve decided to just tackle one room at a time, and the bedroom is up first.  When everything is back to normal in our suite, I’ll post some photos.  Even with the mess it looks VERY good!  Saturday evening & I’ll be sleeping in our bed finally!

Kim picked up the 3 ½ X 3 ½ foot wall art on the weekend it’s quite heavy since it’s a wood, cedar.  After I said just to leave it & get someone to help her with it, she got it up on the wall!

I know I’m saving for the PRS S2 McCarty 594.  I hope to order it in early December.  Once I’ve saved enough for that, I’ll see if the other 2 are still around and just keep saving money.  If they’re both discontinued, I’ll figure it out then.  Relieve my stress from my phobia.  I’d love to rush out and order the 3 guitars, but I know that can’t happen, so why worry about it?  If the Schecter Tempest & Godin Radiator both go out of production before I order either of them, then I’ll look for a cheaper option.  I would love to order all of them before they’re discontinued still.  I’m a little worried about that still, but not as much as I was before.  Until then, I’ll be saving as much as I can for the next how many years?  I’m not getting any younger & our RSP & RDSP come first!  Had I put any thought in prior to choosing these guitars, I wouldn’t have that sense of F.O.M.O. to deal with at all!  These guitars for me are much like the pandemic for most people.  I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, I just need to get there!

I’ve pretty much stopped drinking alcohol.  All I drink now is a gallon of water a day with a possible tea or bubbly.  I haven’t had alcohol since the end of January I think it was?  I can’t say I miss or crave it.  I’m not necessarily trying to stop drinking.  This is more of a byproduct of me saving money.  Do I want a cider, rum, beer or would I rather save for a guitar?  I choose guitar!

Every time I look at my choices for my last 3 guitars, the more confident I get with all of them.  The guitar below is payed for and was supposed to be here March 1st.  It arrived late yesterday.  I’ll pick it up later today with my preference of strings on it.  YAY, new guitar day!  Belated birthday exchange gift!  The guitar I returned on my birthday was completely different & felt very stiff.  It was the first guitar I had played with Indian Laurel on the fret board and it just wasn’t comfortable, this has a maple fret board.  I’m fine with maple, rosewood & ebony.  I believe other than this guitar & my Fender Telecaster, the rest are rosewood.  I’m interested to try the new trend of roasted maple, but not interested enough to seek out a guitar with a roasted maple neck.  There’s also a trend of stainless steel frets.  I had them on the guitar I returned.  The stainless steel frets & the Indian Laurel on the fret board I found to be pretty uncomfortable.

www.youtube.com isn’t great for sound samples.  Too much compression of the sound over the interweb.  I like it more when people describe the way a guitar feels or how the amplifier feels in the room.  Although I’m not big on sound samples over the internet, it was nice to hear the Godin Radiator can still sound like a big guitar.

Phillip McKnight/Know Your Gear channel on www.youtube.com does that in all of his videos & that’s why I watch him.  Learned quite a bit about what to look for in a guitar.

Some people might think I have a lot of guitars & they’re all the same.  You’d be wrong on both accounts.  None of them sound the same and many of them will be I different standard tunings, open tunings, & a few common alternate tunings.  Nothing too crazy here.  I have one acoustic guitar, a Fender Telecaster, a Tradition Les Paul, an Epiphone Explorer, a PRS S2 Custom 22, a Squier Starcaster later today, & I hope to order a PRS S2 McCarty 594 in early December.  After that I hope the Godin Radiator & Schecter Tempest are still around to order.  None of these guitars look or sound the same.  Even though they all have humbucker pickups, there are many different brands & models of humbuckers within a brand/company.  My Fender Telecaster has a single coil pickup & a lipstick pickup.

I find that as I get older I seem to not worry about things.  I’m passionate about things when they occur.  If nobody’s getting harmed in any way, I tend to just let things be.  I was angry in general coming out of the hospital.  Then I watched the USA completely unravel and became increasingly angry every week & now I’m just tired & hoping things will return to business as usual.  As global citizen’s we all still have issues to deal with like racism, climate change, sexism, the mention of ‘fake’ news, bullying, etc.  It does feel a LOT like we all need to take a breath before we go after whatever is next on the list to take care of.

Please remember to continue wearing a mask in public despite getting the vaccine.  Nothing is completely normal until the health officials say so.  I don’t care what you googled or what your friend told you.  Let the “World Health Organization” do their job.  I didn’t google how to survive cancer, & if I did there’s a good chance I wouldn’t be here right now.

I find it VERY difficult to believe there are still people who question taking any vaccine.  These people make me tired.  Just take any vaccine so we can all get passed this please?  I don’t want to hear any whining that you had to wait for however many hours in line to get a needle.  These people exhaust me.  Biden wants this over for American’s by the end of May.  Last I heard is that Trudeau is planning for the end of September in Canada.  Can we all just get together on one thing at a time?

This link describing how the virus has been politicized is SO far from what is needed right now.  Doctors & scientists will help us defeat the virus & be healthy with a return to some type of normal.  Politicians will keep the economy going.  No healthy people = No economy.  Keep faith in science or were hooped!

I completely forgot that the Grammy Awards were on Sunday night.  Kim switched off “Netflix” & the Grammy Awards had just started.  I guess that’s not a HUGE deal for me, I have no clue who most of the artists are?  I haven’t bought or streamed any of their music yet, but I do like what I’ve heard from “Black Pumas”!  I did start streaming “Black Pumas” Sunday evening.

“Trevor Noah”, host of the Daily Show, hosted the Grammy Awards.  I’ll paraphrase what he said that stuck out to me.  ‘Now artists can make HUGE hit songs & millions of people can stream them.  If that musician or group is really lucky they’ll get a check, anywhere from 2 to 3 dollars’.  He said it as a joke, & it’s funny because it is true.  I’m streaming to save for guitars but because I’m streaming on Apple Music with Kim we pay $14/month.  So were paying $168 a year for radio in that we don’t own it, we rent it.  We stop paying the monthly fee, our music goes away & whoever made the music has to go on tour to make any money?

Monday was back to exercise as usual, nice to get back into the routine.  I miss it when I don’t do it.  I think at this point I’m maintaining, & I’m OK with that.  Sure I have a small belly & love handles, I can live with that!

I’m anxious to see a live concert but still unsure if I’d go to any this year, even after EVERYONE gets a vaccine.  It would be hard to say no to a “Foo Fighters”, “Big Wreck”, “Myles Kennedy”, or “Mark Tremonti” concert though!?

I started streaming ‘NIRATIAS’ by “Chevelle” that was released on March 5th.  Going by the ratings on iTunes I’m a little off preferring the song ‘Peach’ to ‘Self Destructor’, oh well!  Different strokes for different folks!

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Janelle Monae” the album “Dirty Computer”, followed by “Testament” the album “The Legacy”

I exercised in silence.  I forgot to put the universal remote on the charger last night.

I will openly admit that even when I was free of cancer & my rehabilitation, I was an asshole.  I was VERY depressed & wouldn’t listen to anyone.  That wasn’t me, never has been or will be.  I am truly sorry to those I was a moron to, publically & privately.  Thank you for forgiving me.  You chose to forgive me, I didn’t force it on anyone.  THANK YOU!!!!!  It may have been years ago, but I still feel bad about it.

I got over that.  Getting into & out of a wheelchair is pretty normal now, not something I’ve stressed about in quite a while.  My legs work a bit & the exercise definitely helps with my walking.  I can stand for quite a while, as long as I have something to hold on to, or with the aid of another person.  30 minutes of standing in one spot isn’t out of the question.

I’m more able to keep my walker (on wheels, chest high) pointed in a straight direction.  Kim follows me in case I stumble or need to sit.  It’s really not that bad, especially since I’m getting stronger.

144 meters is my longest walk without a rest.  It used to be 200, rest, 400, rest, then 200 more, years ago.  I should not have stopped doing that, 800 meters twice a week when I was released from my rehabilitation.  I used to enjoy walking with my walker but something changed after doing so a few times?

Just being alive & able to work on myself sure beats the alternative.  I do have anxiety issues in large groups, talking on the phone to a stranger, or just meeting new people.  Anxiety is likely my biggest issue at the moment.  I tend to clam up in a group of roughly 10 or more people, even if I know them.

Oh, the Grammy Awards.  There is no reason to make any art a competition, but alas “….here we go again….”

A bitter sweet win for the deceased Soundgarden singer, Chris Cornell.  Other awards are listed as well.  “Greta Van Fleet” won best rock album for their 1st release of 2, 4 song EPs, sold as an 8 song album.  The really good album, not the one that’s just OK.

http://loudwire.com/chris-cornell-best-rock-performance-winner-2019-grammys/?fbclid=IwAR0_Pub2XdpwIM41gEbHSMefbbYrlRiBkeVkc2WG8IXrd-nePrgGmwmuv8k

I watched about 10 minutes of CNN on Monday.  They were talking about how great it was to have so many women winning awards, Alicia Keys hosting, & other women involved with the show.  That’s great & Alicia Keys hosting the show was FANTASTIC!  I’ve always thought she’s AWESOME!  As for being nominated, I don’t care what sex, race, or religion you are, I just want the best musician to be nominated & win an award.  If a woman or man wins, I just want the best nominee to win.

I agree any woman should have equal pay if a male is doing the same or similar job, I’m all for that.  I didn’t realize that the pay inequality was happening.  Equal pay should be a no brainer if you ask me!

Rock & metal music are far from dead, even though the Grammy Awards for those categories are not aired on TV.  How many Grammy awards has Lamb of God won?  Guess, I’ll wait……………………………..6 if not more.  The Grammy academy is of no use in promoting rock or metal with the awards for those categories.  “2 roads diverged in a yellow wood” if you want to make money you take the road most travelled.  If you want to attract possible fans to classical, rock, or metal you take the road less travelled.

There were 3 acts that REALLY caught my attention because they were SO good.  Janelle Monae, H.E.R., & Kacey Musgraves.

Carappé, I know the Saskatchewan Roughriders were in the hunt for him.

https://www.cfl.ca/2019/02/11/report-lions-sign-mike-reilly-four-year-deal/

From what I can tell from “Big Wreck’s” Facebook page, they are nearing completion of their next album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Janelle Monae performed this song on the Grammy Awards.  I bought the album “Dirty Computer” on Tuesday.  She absolutely BLEW me away.  She’s like “Prince” 2.0!

The original cartoon was fantastic.  I’m anxious for the live action version!

ASCOT ROYALS   (More pop than rock)

I saw them open for “Big Wreck” in February 2017, AWESOME SHOW!  Unfortunately they never achieved success like I thought they might.  As soon as I got home I purchased their full album & their EP.  The EP was released a week before I saw them.  Another great band that didn’t make it big.

I fell asleep to “U2” the album “Songs of Experience”

I exercised to “Pink” the album “Beautiful Trauma”

Monday I only did 3 out of 6 exercises, pushups, crunches, & squats.  Tuesday was my birthday aka I did nothing!  On Monday I was still recovering from Saturday.  No hangover, just stayed up too late.  Usually any time after 11:00 pm, is a game of Russian roulette for me.  Everyone left by 11:00 pm, but I stayed up until 12:20 am or so & wrote most of this!

I guess I’m old now & not as cool anymore.  I’m 38 & still feel (in my mind) like I’m 20.  I really don’t miss doing the jobs I did in my teens.  Especially being a “banquet porter” at a hotel.  Longest shift I ever worked was there 14 hours long.  That was a difficult job, strength wise.  All of those weddings, Christmas parties, ethnic nights, meetings, dances, etc.  That’s why I got so tired of hearing “one hit wonders” from the 90s.  Most nights there would be some event & weekends were a guaranty there would be at least 3.  Bartending, serving food, cleaning up & setting up meeting rooms for the next day, putting a banquet room together, all of that I did for far too long 16-20 years of age I’m guessing.  I already had to wear a tuxedo shirt & a bowtie for high school band & choir at school & then at work that night………….by the way, I REALLY don’t like wearing dress clothes.

You’ve probably never thought of who put 500 round tables in here for your supper & this dance floor for afterwards.  I never thought about it either, but it was a team of likely 20 people, & I was one of them.  I’d spend an evening shift going up & down the back hallway & heard this kind of stuff on repeat……..

How many times have you heard the “Macarena”?  Great multiply that by 50 & welcome to my life as a teenager!

I would hear those songs 5 times minimum on a Friday or Saturday night at work.  Then go home & watch “Much Music” & turn it off immediately if they were playing one of those songs.  I can tolerate them, but after the 3rd time it just became ridiculous!

I tried really hard to watch “The Grammy Awards” but it was mostly me thinking “Who’s that?  Why is this the cool thing?  Man, I don’t get the attraction to this music, it’s mostly disposable candy music I’ll forget tomorrow.”

Thank goodness for “Bruno Mars”, “Sting” & “U2”.  If you we’re hoping to see the rock & metal categories, they weren’t aired on the TV broadcast.  Foo Fighters won for best rock song & Mastodon won for best metal performance.

Bruno Mars may sample stuff, but he’s always entertaining!

I think this all points to the fact that I’m not all that hip to what the cool kids are listening to, & that I suddenly became old.

I didn’t see the last 15 minutes of “The Grammy Awards” & I’m pretty sure I didn’t need or want to.  Congratulations to those who were nominated & those who won.  I applaud you’re hard work, I’m just not your demographic for most of you.

Every front man/front woman wants to be Freddie Mercury on stage, but they’re not.  They’re themselves & fans just want honesty, so it works out for everyone.  I wasn’t in an extremely successful band or even a moderately successful band.  I figured, “They paid $5 to see us play, might as well do the best I can!”  If anybody saw us whether it was a free benefit show or if it was a $15 ticket to a Cabaret, they’d better enjoy their evening.

http://loudwire.com/top-hard-rock-metal-frontmen-of-all-time/

Are you a “Led Zeppelin” fan?  Have you bought the “Greta Van Fleet” album “From the Fires”?  It’s 8 songs that you could easily put on any “Led Zeppelin” album with upbeat tempos.

I made the mistake of watching some of the “State of the Union” speech last night, & I almost……

It doesn’t matter how many beer you have “Tom Sawyer” is one of the 3 radio hits by Rush that has never been enjoyable for me!

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Should the Blue Jays have tried harder to get Christian Yelich?  Try?  Who says they went that far?  Anything not regarding Vladimir Guerrero Jr. should have been seriously considered.  The GM & the manager of baseball operations were told not to “blow up” the core players.  So I guess it’s the owner of Roger’s communications who really wants to irk the fans.  So far this has been an absolutely TERRIBLE off season!

http://www.sportsnet.ca/590/sportsnet-hot-stove/blue-jays-tried-harder-get-christian-yelich/

If you’re not a diehard fan of the “Toronto Blue Jays” at this point I’d ask that you please avert your eyes.  This season could be worse than last year.  If you choose to watch you’ll likely be watching mostly old struggling players among a few minor league players to fill other spots.

I can guarantee a Wednesday & Friday blog post this week, after that maybe 2 – 5 more for the year?

Friday was quiet.  We were going to babysit our friends 4 year old, but Jolene wasn’t feeling well. We stayed up until 11:00 pm & cleared off most of the DVR, except the Christmas stuff I saved for my mother-in-law.

Saturday was full of Christmas shopping online.  Me looking over Kim’s shoulder on her computer.  After I made my veggie juice.  Ran a couple of small errands Saturday evening.

Sunday I’ll be baking some fish for the week & boiling/peeling eggs for the week.  Kim had a work gathering at 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm doing crafts at a co – workers house.  I was watching TV & stayed home with Brewster.  Then we were getting ready for the week!

Well it’s finally done!  Myles Kennedy, the singer from Alter Bridge, is releasing his solo album, “Year of the Tiger” on March 9th 2018.  Between Alter Bridge & singing in Slash’s band, he finally has time to release his solo album.  This album has been in the works since 2009.  Slash is still doing his Guns n’ Roses thing.  Alter Bridge I assume are wrapping up their tour for their album “The Last Hero”

Don’t feel as though you need to open every link.

Yep, I had my 2nd physiotherapy session in 3 weeks last night.  He basically gave me a few more stretches to add to the ones he gave me the first time.  Nothing too strenuous.  I was actually doing more of some of the older ones, & totally forgot about 2 older ones.  I moved the papers he gave me so I’d remember them!  They helped quite a bit this morning.  My sciatic nerve pain is slowly going away!

When I go to almost any treatment, even in the hospital, I try/tried to keep things up beat.  Kim takes the brunt of it.  Needles don’t bother me one bit.  When I have a blood test before a cat-scan & whoever is taking my blood, pulls out the needle, I ask Kim “Would you just hold me please?”  Doesn’t work at all, but the 3 of us are always laughing.

When I was in the Wascana Rehabilitation Center, I think there was a small opening on my chest by my collarbone?  There was a black goo coming out of it.  Kim got one of my nurses to check it out.  It was dead/rotten blood.  It didn’t hurt, I just thought it was cool.  When I said that, only I laughed.  I love it when a joke bombs & there’s an awkward silence!  Do I laugh, encourage him, is he done?

Life changed instantly for myself & a TON of other people.  What did Kim & I do?  With a lot of support we just addressed what we needed to!  It took me longer obviously.  I don’t necessarily like where I’m at personally.  At least I’m alive to work on things!

I fell asleep to “Taylor Swift” the album “1989”, woke up early listened to “Sum 41” the album

“13 Voices”, then “Queens of the Stone Age” the album “….like clockwork”

I exercised to “Iommi” the album you can’t find anywhere which I bought the day it was released.  Each song has a different singer on it.  Phil Anselmo (Pantera), Ozzy, Billy Corgan (The Smashing Pumpkins), Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Dave Grohl (Nirvana/Foo Fighters), Henry Rollins (Black Flag), etc.

I get it.  Superhero movies & TV series are everywhere.  You’ve got “The Avengers” & all of the spinoff movies.  Now we have “The Justice League” along with other spinoffs.  “The X-men” movies, “Star Trek” movies, the revitalized “Star Wars” franchise with new spinoffs.  As for TV we got “Supergirl”, “The Flash”, “Gotham” & “Arrow”.  I like the majority of them, I totally see the reasoning of others who don’t like them.  It’s a lot of stuff people aren’t into, so your hands are tied if you want to watch a movie.  Whatever other movie you choose to see had better be mind-blowingly AWESOME!  Since you probably don’t have a variety of movies to choose from?

Kim’s not really a fan either.  She doesn’t mind the “Marvel”/”Avenger” movies though.  I’m all in for the “Marvel”, “Justice League”, & “Star Wars” movies.  Along with “Supergirl”, “Gotham”, & “The Flash” TV series.  I’m good but I know others that are not on the wagon for this stuff.

Am I a Star Wars fan?  BIGTIME!  Ever since I watched the original trilogy as a kid with my dad.  I’m not a huge Star Wars buff, but I know enough to watch any Star Wars movie & know which one it is.  I just like these movies & TV shows.  “Arrow”, “The X-men”, & “Star Trek” I’m not into though.

I fell asleep to “Metallica” the new album “Hardwired…………to self-destruct”, woke up to pee & listened to “Big Wreck” the album “Grace Street”

I exercised to “In Flames” the album “Colony”

I did 200 crunches yesterday & 200 today.  My abs really hurt, how on earth was I doing 1500 a day with no pain?

Kim’ stomach is fine.  She’s trying to figure out what it is that bothers her for a day or 2 a week.  She doesn’t get sick, she just has an annoying stomach every now & then.  She’s exercising a bit as well.  She went for a ½ hour run on Sunday, in the exercise room here on the treadmill.

I’m doing some of my exercises, & still stretching my sciatic nerve mostly.  I’m doing a fraction of my crunches & some of my leg lifts.  My daily goal for crunches each day won’t be 1500, it will be a little bit less when I reach it, and 1300 is what I’ll build up to.  I gotta say that doing my exercises feels more normal for me.  Back into my routine a bit, it feels much better!

Well it’s official!  I have an addiction…………………to music.  The “Big Wreck” album “Grace Street” was released on Friday.  As of Monday evening I’ve listened to it 13 times on my iPod & likely 5-8 times through our stereo.  Another reason I don’t play my music on the stereo when Kim’s home!

New “Queens of the Stone Age” this year……………….AWESOME!!!!

What happens when you put Metallica in one hand, Lady Ga Ga in the other & then put those hands together?  I don’t know but we’ll all find out at the Grammy Awards.

A Perfect Circle is going on tour from April 6 – May 7

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I may be listening to Big Wreck quite a bit, but I try to listen to as much music as possible!  Alter Bridge, In Flames, The Pretty Reckless, Metallica, Bruno Mars, Ascot Royals, Our Lady Peace, The Agonist, Into Eternity, Portal, Lamb of God, Judah & the Lion, Diemonds, etc.  Like every Tool fan I’m waiting patiently for a new album.

A follow up to the 2006 release “10,000 Days” by Tool would be more than welcome.
