Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Lamb of God” the album “Sturm Und Drang”

My in-laws were in town for the weekend, & I was doing some stuff offline on the computer.  I needed a little break from the computer, didn’t feel long enough though!

Kim’s parents & aunt got here about 3:00 pm or so on Friday coffee for the afternoon & pizza for supper.  The day ended with me staying up way too late, trying to clear the DVR.  We’re behind since I was at a concert on Tuesday & Kim’s taking a photography course once a week from 7:00-10:00 pm.

Saturday Kim & Sherry took their mom to a craft show & then grocery shopping.  That night, Kim cooked ham, hash brown casserole, & carrots.  Dairy Queen for dessert.  Later on was a showing of the movie “Wonder”.

This morning we went to Sherry & James’ for Brunch & a “goodbye” to the 3 headed north.

Nobody sang anything.  This has just been in my head!  They should be home very soon.

We came home Kim’s tending to the laundry, I’ve made my juice & cooked my fish for the week.  Once the dishwasher is done I’ll empty it & Kim will hard boil some eggs for the week.  Pretty tame weekend.  Nice to have Kim’s parents down, we haven’t seen them this year until today.

We still haven’t been to there house since 2007, we’ll likely drive up on a weekend this summer & likely out to the lake a few weekends.

6 studio albums, 2 live albums, & a few singles.  They have said that their plans for 2018 is to release a full album & a few singles.  I really got into them in 2006.  I was at a band rehearsal at Todd Bryanton’s house.  He had “Muse” playing as we set up our gear.  I heard it & asked “Is this some new Radiohead I’ve missed?”  He told me it was Muse’s album “Absolution”, their 3rd studio album.

I believe they’re from England.  The comparison to early Radiohead is valid, just don’t tell any member of the Muse super trio (Shhhhh).  I was hooked instantly.  They’ve sort of lost my attention with 2 of their releases though.  They’re both good albums, but they could be better.  Their last 2 singles are great though. “Dig Down” & “Thought Contagion”.  I hope this leads to a great album in the near future.  Here’s a song from each album followed by the two standalone singles…

Now the 2 singles I own.

An article with Patton Oswalt.  Life, legend, & how a serial killer could be brought to justice.  His wife was murdered.

I’m not much of a fan of “Godsmack”, here’s a review of their new album though.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “The Beatles” the album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” followed by “Metallica” the album “Hardwired………..to Self-Destruct”

Friday ended with me drinking alone & watching the Toronto Blue Jays vs. the Cleveland Indians.  Both had the same win-loss record starting the game which the Blue Jays won 8-4.  The Jays are now 9W-5L.

Saturday we woke up before 8:00 am.  I rolled over & asked Kim what time it was, too early.  Grabbed my iPod Classic, which I’ve almost decided will not be replaced when it dies, then we went back to sleep & I put my iPod back on.  Saturday evening was my dad & brother’s birthday supper at my parent’s place.  Supper, brownies for Mitch, & a Chocolate Extreme Blizzard cake from Dairy Queen for dad.  Good times that went a bit longer than expected.  By 10:00 pm we were all a bit tired & cleared out fast.

The Blue Jay game Saturday in Cleveland was rained out.  Today’s is supposed to be rained out as well.  3 players are currently injured so collectively that’s $54,000,000 worth of players sitting on the bench & the short stop might have a career ending injury.  His contract runs out at the end of the 2020 season.  Teams have insurance incase this type of thing happens.

Typical Sunday for us, getting ready for the week ahead, laundry, groceries, make a vegetable juice, bake some fish, hard boil some eggs, etc.  I’ve got the “American Country Music Awards” recording for Kim.  How on earth did I get stuck with a country music fan?  Country & music don’t even belong in the same sentence most of the time.  Oh wait she HAWT, smart, funny, she loves me, etc.  I do like the Dixie Chicks though.

I don’t play my music when she’s home & she usually does the same.  I find it funny that country “music” has to have it’s own award show, because it doesn’t fit in with the cool kids.  Hahahahahaha!

Before I get into this I should say that “Live’s” albums “Throwing Copper” & “The Distance to Here” are legendary albums for me.

The first band I was in while in University played most of “Lightning Crashes” once in rehearsal, but none of us knew the bridge of the song.  We stopped at the bridge & just never bothered to learn it or play it again, we should have.

I got into “Queens of the Stone Age” when they released their 3rd album “Songs for the Deaf” in 2002 with Dave Grohl on drums for all of the songs & a short tour afterwards.  I was already into Foo Fighters, so to see Dave on drums in a “Queens” video was big for me.  I bought the album ASAP.  I listened to it a LOT & soon bought the previous 2 albums, I was hooked.  I was in SIAST but the “Queens” stuff was in a low tuning.  I learned some of it, but it was just a hassle to switch tunings on my guitar for “Queens” stuff & regular tuning for rehearsal.  Foo Fighters released their 4th album on Kim’s birthday that year in October.  Not their best album but also not their worst, but I’m biased when it comes to Foo Fighters……….

Dave Grohl played drums on this album & Elton John played piano on at least a few songs!

Godsmack is still around?  I didn’t even know?  I was never a fan though anyways.

Top 10 Tool songs according to Watchmojo.com.  I wouldn’t put them in any category, especially metal.

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!         Any Tool fan that enjoys marijuana, doesn’t need to bring any to a Tool show, the rest of the audience will get you high on second hand smoke & the crowd also doubles as a fog machine for the band.

I think this guy is over a decade younger than me.  Although he says this ranking of “Muse” albums are just his opinion.

For me it would be “Showbiz”, “The Resistance”, “Drones”, “The 2nd Law”, “Origin of Symmetry”, “Absolution”, & finally “Black Holes & Revelations”.  I guess our opinions aren’t that far off after all.

This is me during my day, followed by music info because I want the music info as well.  If you don’t want to read it, don’t feel as though you have to, it won’t hurt my feelings.  You can read the cancer stuff, the pop culture stuff or not read it at all, it’s totally your choice & whatever you choose is just fine by me.  So don’t feel pressured to read this.

What did we do this weekend?  NOTHING AT ALL!  I don’t like sitting at home on a Friday or Saturday night but nobody we talked to wanted to play.  My mind says I’m 25 my body is more realistic at 36!  I did go to the Saskatchewan Roughrider game with my dad on Sunday.  I don’t have a handicap seat.  My father pushes my chair up 2 ramps, I go up 10 or 12 steps & our seats are right in front of us, seats 1 & 2.  Next year, in the new stadium should be even better.  About 2 steps from the main level.  The first level is built into the ground, & we’re in the top row seats 1, 2, & 3.  My mother can’t get to where our seats are at the moment so she has sold her ticket to the people beside us but has kept it in her name.  They’ve chosen to sit closer to field level in the new stadium.  Our seats should be easier for my mother to get to, so she’ll be with us!

Clutch vocalist, Neil Fallon, shares his top 10 influential albums

Don’t get me wrong!  I enjoy other stuff also Harry Connick jr., Norah Jones, Nat King Cole, Classical music in general, etc.  It’s very subjective.  A good song is a good song.  My habits just lean towards the rock & metal side of things.

Foo Fighters with Norah Jones

I do like one Metallica album.  The one with the SFSO

The song from “Temple of the Dog” that you haven’t heard.

Monday “In Flames” will be releasing a video, tour & hopefully a preorder date?

I like Neil Young’s music but he has become a crusty old man & I’m getting crusty too.

It’s 2016, I don’t think a protest song works anymore.  If it was a country song billions of people would hear it.

Yeah, we’ll put it on http://www.youtube.com but don’t share it/promote it?

Red Hot Chili Peppers albums ranked

I’m not a huge fan of them.  I own 4 CDs “Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic” which I never listen to, “By The Way”, “Californication”, those 2 I listen to occasionally, & the double album “Stadium Arcadium”  I listened to it once or twice & it’s been in hiding ever since I bought it.

LANGUAGE!!!!   Yes, I’ve sang this.  Not my style at all!  I prefer listening to this!

I’ll take “The Pretty Reckless” just for the song.  Full album out on October 21st.  The song by “Kaleo” is pretty good, I’ve just never heard of them before, sounds really good though.

Kaleo has 4 or 5 albums, EPs, & singles available.  Similar to Jack Johnson, just slightly heavier?  Gritty?  Nowhere near hard rock or metal.

Godsmack news.

“It’s on www.youtube.com but how dare you embed the link to promote it!”

Yes, I have “The Agonist” on preorder as well, I forgot to mention that before?  Here’s a review of the new album.

Hahaha! These are terrible! Most of them I’ve never heard of. I have 2 from iTunes, “Black Sabbath” & “Iron Maiden”

Review of the new Justin Bieber album. I’m not sure about it yet?

Is your favourite vocalist on the list? For me it will always be Myles Kennedy & he’s not on the list! If I had to pick from this small sample, it would be Randy Blythe from Lamb of God.

Albums I’m looking forward to in 2016. I only know of 2 releases, Megadeth on January 22nd (already preordered) & of course Tool. Not sure when Into Eternity will be released, I’m assuming next year? “The League of One”, a local band, has an album release on Saturday, December 5th. I just heard the new Tremonti album will be released early next year! More cash to be spent next year!

Christmas tree time now. Saturday evening we went to Corey & Jolene’s place for supper & a Christmas movie with their daughter Hannah. Good times, & great people!

I forgot to take my pills last night. I was in bed by 10:00 pm & woke up around 10:30 am. Should have taken my pills! I was awake for 3 or 4 hours in the middle of the night. I took my pills & all was well. Finally fell asleep!

I was watching Prime Time Sports with Bob McCown, as I usually do 5 days a week for the first hour of 3 hours. On Friday’s & Monday’s the first hour is for people to call in & ask questions or comment on any topic, from any major North American sport. November 26th and 80% of the phone calls were still about the Blue Jays. Bob said something I had never thought of. Everybody is speculating as to whether free agent pitcher David Price will sign with the Jays since he was traded to them at the trade deadline at the end of July. He’ll likely be signing the last contract of his career, looking for something like $33-$35 million a year for 6-7 year. As Bob said in reply, “If David Price had finished the season with, his former team, The Detroit Tigers, nobody would be talking about THE elite pitcher in the game signing with the Jays”. Bob 1 other Jays fans 0. He also added “Why not take that money, cut it in half & sign 2 decent starting pitchers, instead of the current super star”! Brilliant!

After watching the Blue Jays playoff run last season, I learned something. Good pitching & good defense will usually win against a monster offense that averages 5.5 runs/game. If their pitching staff can have an Earned Run Average, E.R.A., of 4.70 or less they’ll likely win more games than they lose.

Songs I like, “Van Halen” I’m not a huge fan of them, but I have nothing against them. In the end, I’m good either way. I could do with a Greatest Hits album.

Living in a condo has it’s pros & cons. “I’ve got 4 walls around me” a roof over my head, one of 2 washrooms that work (plumber coming this week to fix a leaky pipe). Nice comfortable bed, nice office area, nice paint, laminate floors, everything is great. The only two issues I have are we payed a butt load of money (thanks to our parents for helping us out), but it’s the condo board’s rules? We paid for our suite, what happens in here should be our rules? The other minor issue is the lazysusan cupboard. The cabinet makers measured wrong. It’s fine except the bottom hinge on that stationary cupboard falls apart. We took possession in December 2013. We have a 5 year warranty on the building. The hinge broke again the other night. Why do we have to continue fixing their mistake? I say our warranty is running out, we should have them fix their mistake before the warranty runs out? We don’t need to be rude about it, just tell them “Hey, this hinge keeps falling apart, please make it a functional cupboard”.

Beer & Alcohol DEFINITELY make you fat. Isn’t alcohol in general full of sugar? You sit down to have a beer or glass of wine at the end of the day, maybe you have 1 & it turns into 2? That’s a TON of extra calories. I don’t touch alcohol until Friday & Saturday, & I don’t drink to get hammered. I drink for the taste. After 2 drinks each Friday & Saturday I usually call it quits, on the odd occasion I’ll max out at 4 one night. I exercise Monday through Friday. Guess what? I may have lost 45lbs but I still have a beer belly. It’s getting smaller but it’s still there!

I’d be shocked as well if the leader of my country gave me a shout out too!

Nice try but that’s not what a Storm trooper looks like Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park rapper).

Do or die tonight for the Toronto Blue Jays. 9 wins to win the World Series. 1 game between Texas vs. Toronto series is tied at 2-2. I hope the home plate umpire remembers that the plate is 18” wide & not 22” wide tonight?! Here’s hoping Kansas City beats Houston. Houston has a TON of free swingers, when they get a hold of a pitch, there’s a good chance it could leave the yard.

I don’t have much in terms of vinyl records. Now that Kim & I are in a condo we don’t have any room for it. I think we donated it to who knows where. Yes groups still release vinyl. From what my father tells me record players sell more often than CD players. We had roughly 20-30 albums on vinyl. There was about 4 that I listened too rarely; Led Zeppelin II, Tool “Lateralus”, Foo Fighters “One by One”, U2 “The Joshua Tree”, & Def Leppard “Hysteria”

All of these “social media” sites require one thing, email! You join a social media site & TONS of people totally forget that they have an email. I always check both, why? Because not everyone has a facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. account. Everybody on these sites has an email account! How often does anyone send you an email via one of these sites? I do because some people are a touch stubborn & refuse to use their email. What did you do before the invention of www.myspace.com? You used email probably. I get it, it’s a personal choice. Just remember that not everyone likes these sites. I use facebook mostly for these blogs & a handful of people who have problems with their email account.

This music blog was for those who like similar music as I, & those who don’t want to be on a social media site. If it wasn’t for this blog, I’d be long gone from facebook!

Last night’s baseball game between the Toronto Blue Jays 78W-59L & the Boston Red Sox 65W-72L prior to the game was a nail biter for me. Tied 1-1 into the 10th inning. Then the Toronto Blue Jay bats woke up & everything bounced Toronto’s way to win 5-1 in the end. I was nervous, I may have peed a bit on the couch. (Shh! Don’t tell Kim?)

I know baseball’s not for everyone, I get it. This has been an exciting time for the Blue Jays though! First time the fans have seen meaningful baseball in September since the early ’90s!

“…I did it again…” woke up thinking it was Saturday. Then came to the horrible realization that it’s only Tuesday/.

Poor Donna! This must be what Kim feels like some days….

Guess who’s been involved with this crap against multiple teams this year? Hint-(It’s not the Blue Jays) If the umpire hadn’t issued the warning in the first inning this wouldn’t have happened in the 8th inning! Unwritten rule in baseball, “You hit our guy, we hit your guy.” Then each team get’s a warning & nothing happens from then on. This is NOT an intentional hit, it hit his shin. Not his back, shoulder or hip. If a pitcher chooses to throw at someone, they make it count & deliver a clear message!

There are unwritten rules everywhere, not just in baseball. “Honey, do these pants make my butt look fat?” unwritten rule it’s always “No, you look FANTASTIC IN EVERYTHING” Kim has never asked me that & doesn’t need to ever. But if you answer incorrectly you’ll spend an eternity trying to dig yourself out of a hole that you may just end up making bigger & never get out of. This unwritten rule applies to anyone & everyone in a relationship. One of those rules no one will tell you directly how to answer, something you’ll hear in passing or find out the hard way. Good luck out there & “Keep your stick on the ice”-Red Green
