I fell asleep to “A Perfect Circle” the album “Eat the Elephant”

I exercised to “Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals” the album “Burn to Shine”

Brewster setup shop on my exercise mat this morning.  I just stayed there with him to scratch his neck, he’s getting old & I’ll really miss those little moments.

Perhaps “Paul’s Guitar” in 20 years?  99.9% chance of a maybe on the off chance I’m not happy with the guitar coming in August, which I highly doubt, if this model still comes with pickups that are different than what I own, if I choose to sell a few of the guitars I own, maybe there will be something better, hopefully the price is lower than $1300 for a low end guitar at the time, in the end probably not?  There will likely be a trip within the next two years & a house hopefully within the next 5 years, so a guitar = probably not.  Remember that as long as Brewster’s OK, then the guitar MIGHT happen?  I’m pretty well off in that department even now before I get my new one in August.  Crappé it’s only March!

Regular season baseball begins on Thursday, March 26th.  I’ll be relatively glued to our TV until the beginning of October.  The Blue Jays likely won’t be in the playoffs but I predict they’ll finish the season with a record of 75W-87L or 83W-79L games out of the 162 regular season games.  I think they won 67 games last year.  The first 2 months we’re older players that gradually disappeared for younger/potentially better players to take their spot throughout the season.

We picked up some toilet paper on the weekend.  It wasn’t because of what you think.  We just like to keep our butts clean, & the shelves were full of toilet paper, that or Kim’s “Magic”!

After seeing “The Weeknd” on SNL & tours that have been announced I can confirm: the 1980s synth pop sound is coming back.

“Barenaked Ladies” are hitting the road with “Toad the wet Sprocket” & “Gin Blossoms”.  “Matchbox Twenty” are taking “The Wallflowers” with them on tour.  The Canadian 1990s & early 2000s rock scene is getting a shot in the arm with 4 bands touring Canada this summer.  “Moist”, “The Tea Party”, “Big Wreck”, & “Headstones”

I’m thinking some stairs should be happening tonight?

I fell asleep to “Stone Temple Pilots (2018), “Tremonti” the album “A Dying Machine”, & finally “Trivium” the album “The Sin & the Sentence”

I exercised to “Gin Blossoms” 2 albums on shuffle.

You might recognize this Gin Blossoms song, it’s from a movie that was released in the 1990s

YAY!……..NOT.  It’s tick season.  I found one roaming my hair on Monday.  I assume I got it from my wife or dog who were North visiting her parents in a small town.  Just beware!

My finger is still quite tender but looks better.  2 very small bruises on the inside of my finger.  My ring finger & pinky are tender & useless.

I went to the vehicle on Friday to say goodbye to Kim & Brewster.  As I came back inside, a lady asked me if I was alone or had any assistance.  I replied “No, I’m alone, I’m OK.  My parents live in town if I need them.”

Don’t get me wrong I missed them like crazy!  It was nice to have some alone time though.  I’m rarely alone other than when Kim is at work.  I’m OK if I’m home by myself.  I’m able to do quite a bit here.  I can stand up to get something from the upper cupboards or in the pantry, I just have to hold on to the counter or doorway to reach those things.  If Kim calls & says she’ll be a bit late, I’m fine, Brewster not so much.  He knows what time she should be home by, & anxiously stares at the door within a ½ hour.

I really do not like that if you’re not in the right place you can’t watch certain things.  I’ll find a video & it works fine for me.  So I copy the link & put it on my blog, only to find that even I can’t view it on my blog?  Ridiculous & not needed.  If you’re able to watch something on one site, why not on another site?

Because I live in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada even limits me from viewing some of their videos.  Odd since I subscribed to the magazine when I lived at my parents’ house, & it was delivered there no problem.

I bought a concert DVD of “In Flames” called “Sounds from the Heart of Gothenburg”.  I ordered it on  The blu-ray had region restrictions & said it would only play on blu-ray players made in Europe, the DVD had no such warning.  I waited for about a month, it came from Germany.  As soon as I got it I tried to play it in our blu-ray player, it was regionally restricted for European made players.  I don’t understand why it is regionally restricted?  Luckily my dad had 3 region free DVD players at his house & gave me one.  Their vocals are all in English but the stage banter is all Swedish with English sub-titles.  Wouldn’t they sell more blu-rays or DVDs if it wasn’t only available for European players?  I know have a DVD player just for that one DVD, weird………….I know?

There are multiple iTunes, basically one for every country.  I didn’t even realize that until I flipped mine to see if a certain album was available in the USA.  It was but the USA iTunes didn’t recognize 25% of the songs I had on my Canadian iTunes.  “Well that’s dumb!” I said to myself & immediately switched back & all of a sudden all of my music was back.

Why not have a region free iTunes?  More exposure for the artists & more money for Apple?  This regional stuff makes 0% sense to me.  It’s on the internet, why limit certain things?  It doesn’t have to be from a certain region for me to like it.

What gets me are the Dominican Republic, Cuban, & Mexican players who have played baseball in North America for years & can’t speak a word of English in an interview & always have a translator with them.  Before you get all pissy, let me explain.

Keep using your country’s language with others that know it like your wife, children, other players, other family members, etc.  When you’re on TV doing an interview, learn some English and use it.  “In the end” they’re making multi million dollars a year, I guess paying a translator is a small drop in the bucket for them.

I’ve heard a report that there will be no downloads or CDs, or any other way other than streaming music or buying vinyl records.  Much like a new “Tool” album, I’ll believe it when it happens!  If I have to pay $10 a month, do I get reimbursed for the months I don’t stream a new album?  I prefer to just own my music (as we’ve always been able to) & pay for it once either on iTunes or CD.  This is something I’d hate to see happen.

So, is rock dead?  NO!  The music industry is royally messed up!  Rock & metal musicians are just giving into whatever’s going on & don’t care.

I’ll have a hard time streaming/renting music, if they have the option to download music I’m in, if not I’m going to purchase vinyl.  I’ve spoken to a few people at Apple, they’ve told me they’ve heard nothing about this, that or they’re lying to me.  I prefer to believe them

Yes, I spend more than $120 a year on music.  If you’re content with streaming music good for you, you have to realize or at least acknowledge that your favourite new musician might not be able to release new music on a regular basis.  So if they’re in a venue near you playing live, buy a T-Shirt or some kind of merchandise, fragrance, alcohol, etc.  They’re not making money on album streaming or even much on downloads.  If you’re not going to pay them for recording music, then you should consider buying other products with their name slapped on it.

Then you might realize something, “Why is my most hated band from the ‘70s so rich?  When my new favourite band of this current decade can’t afford a producer to record new material?”

Yes I used Napster & Torrent files.  Napster’s software was a mess.  Torrents were much better, probably due to newer technology being used.  When I was sick but able to leave the WRC for a few hours, I realized that I was part of the problem with the music industry & started purchasing CDs again.  When they dropped in price I used iTunes.

Let me get this straight.  I can sit here & pay $10/month for music that I don’t actually own, but I can’t pay & download it in the comfort of my home?  That makes no sense at all?

I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the new album “Concrete & Gold”

I exercised to “Gin Blossoms” their first 2 albums on shuffle.

Turns out Kim has today off, which means I get the day off to hang out with her!  These are the numbers for a 4 day week.  100 crunches, 100 pushups, 100 leg lifts, 40 back flexes, & 5 minutes of planking ( not including short rest periods)

400 crunches, 400 pushups, 400 leg lifts, 160 back flexes, & 20 minutes of planking in 4 days.  Monday-Friday. Sunday, Wednesday & Friday I wake up, see what Brewster needs, exercise, post a blog, have a shower, eat breakfast, then start my day, 30 minutes later it’s close to lunch time!

I was talking with Apple Support the other day, it was a lengthy call with some down time trying different things to fix the problem.  I told the woman that answered that I was in a wheelchair in the beginning, the call continued as normal.  She later asked why I was in a wheelchair.  I told her I had brain cancer in 2008 that put me in a wheelchair & that I had an eye patch.  She was a cancer survivor as well.  She had all of her reproductive organs removed due to cancer.  She said something to me that I found to be odd.  “My cancer was no wear near as intense as your’s” I replied with “Woah, any & every cancer is terrible.  I don’t think my cancer was any worse than your’s.  Any cancer is not a good thing.”

Unfortunately I can’t remember her name though.  She helped me with an issue involving my iTunes & all is well.  I thanked her for her patience with me & after 45 minutes – hour my problem was somewhat solved.

The first incarnation was Ian Thornley (Canadian) with 3 Americans who all 4 dropped out of The Berkley School of Music to for Big Wreck & released their 1st album in 1997.  The album (In Loving Memory of).

They released a 2nd album in 2001, (The Pleasure & The Greed) then “broke up”.

In 2012 they reunited, sort of.  4 Canadians & 1 American.  The original 2nd guitarist returned to the group.  Ian Thornley has always been the singer & 1st guitarist.  Since 2012 they have released 3 studio albums & 1 EP of live songs & a cover song.  They’re currently down to 4 members.  There was a 3rd guitarist who recently left the group to be with his family.

There’s a song from 2 of their recent studio albums & (The Cars) song they covered for the EP

They released the album (Grace Street) earlier this year in February.

I’ve seen Big Wreck at least 15 or more times.  Between 1999 and 2002 they’d come here about 3 or 4 times a year.  If they’re in Regina, you know where I am.  Way back in the day they’d end most concerts by inviting the opening band on stage to play an extended version of this tune, unfortunately they don’t do that anymore.

3 episodes of Trivium’s making of the album “The Sin & The Sentence”!  Album out October 20th.

Let me know what you’d like me to review?  This is just the albums I’ve bought this year that I enjoy.  I guess first of all, are you enjoying the album “reviews” & is there something I should hear?  If I don’t care for it or have never heard it before, don’t take it personally, I won’t bash the crap out of it, it’s just not for me.  All of that being said I have a long list of albums to review from this year & at least 3 more that I know are being released this year.

Friday we stayed in & I watched the Toronto Blue Jays DEMOLISH the Baltimore Orioles 13-3 in the first game of a 3 game series in Baltimore! Saturday’s game, a loss, 4-2, same teams different pitchers, Sunday I’ll see what happens? Oddly enough Jose Bautista is injured & hasn’t played, yet the $20 million/year SS is back as of Saturday & they lost? This small sample screams dump Tulowitzki & Bautista at the end of July, the trade deadline. Even today they lost with their all-star SS. He’s not hitting like they expected yet. He’s really good defensively very sure handed. I hope he starts hitting soon or I’d be sending him off. If Jose Bautista & Edwin Encarnacion are going to be re-signed, I think it would have happened by now. The Blue Jays can see what the two guys are offered by other teams, & go on from their.

Saturday evening we met Corey, Jolene & Hannah at Fatburger. Yes, the restaurant is appropriately named. We came home & Kim picked a chick flick to rent with a very underwhelming end. I didn’t watch “The Sopranos” series but I heard that the finale was terrible & basically faded to black when a beat down looked as though it was going to happen. Whatever that movie was called, was very similar. Even Kim was sadly disappointed. “You picked the movie”. That’s all I said or else I’d be in deep doodie right now. Yeah, today Kim did some laundry & we both just sat on the couch, oh & I guess I did make a pitcher of blended fruit & vegetables today. Fairly quiet weekend here.

Third Ion news

I’m not a huge Red Hot Chili Peppers fan. I love the “Californication” & “By the Way” albums though!

The Tragically Hip’s final concert will air on CBC on August 20th!

I wonder why so many people hate the police? Maybe because this is what could happen during a shift at work? Nobody else has to deal with this at work?! I’d flip if I had to deal with this type of behaviour on a fairly regular basis or at all. LANGUAGE!!! Thank you for keeping us safe!

I’ve listened to Stitched Up Heart probably a dozen times now & it’s really good to my ears. They’re a female fronted vocalist band right on the edge of rock & metal. They dip their toes in both sides of the pool. She sings more than screams. If you like The Pretty Reckless or Halestorm, Stitched Up Heart is a bit heavier that that.

Batman v. Superman review & a SPOILER ALERT!!!

“HOLY SMOKER DOODLES BATMAN”-Robin. My two favourite high school rock bands going on tour together! I may have just peed a bit! LANGUAGE!!!!!

This year just became INCREDIBLE. Third Ion CD release show!! Jay & Silent Bob get old in Regina!! Our Lady Peace on tour with I Mother Earth!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

Third Ion at The Exchange July 29th, Jay & Silent Bon get old, September 23rd at The Casino & Our Lady Peace on tour with I Mother Earth in October at the Casino. I usually don’t touch my computer on Saturday’s but I’m sure glad I did today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10 rock & metal bands says we need to know about. I hope you found a band in this link that you like? I didn’t.

Billy Joel pays tribute to those affected by the Orlando shooting.

I still say this “Stairway to Heaven” trial is just about “jealousy” & money. If it isn’t why wasn’t this an issue earlier?

I love it when this guy does a song in 20 different styles!
