Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Exercise total for 4 days.

250 Curls w/ 20 pound dumb bells

150 Shoulder raises/Chest presses w/ 10 pound dumb bells

600 Crunches

600 Leg lifts

200 Squats

400 Back flexes

3 days of crunches, leg lifts, squats, & back flexes.  Then Thursday was just stretching because I was very sore & while stretching I think I lightly pulled a quad muscle?

Since I’ve been out of the hospitals & my therapies I notice that I have 3 re-occurring dreams, they are as follows.  For context I turned 41 in January and I took French immersion from kindergarten to grade 12 graduation.

In the first of these dreams, I’m late for high school.  I’m supposed to turn in a project for French class that morning.  I get to my locker in the empty halls because I’m late & I have no clue as to what my locker combination is.  I fumble with the lock, trying multiple random number combinations, in my dream I start sweating, then I wake up in a panic & think I’m late for school with no start on a project that’s due.  Then I realize that I’m not late for anything, it’s sometime between 1-5:00 am & I don’t go to school.  Why is this weird?  I was rarely late, under 10 times, and in high school I always handed in an essay/project/report on time, that I remember.

2nd dream.  I’m downtown somewhere in a random parking lot.  I park my 2nd car, a 1989 used Ford Tempo, & go into the store.  It’s a one floor department store & I’m looking at discount furniture?  I leave the store empty handed only to find that my car is gone.  Out of nowhere my dad shows up despite me not calling anyone for help.  We’re running down a back alley watching 2 strangers break into cars & steal them as were hiding and peeking around random objects in the alley.  Then I wake up?

3rd dream, & this one kind of makes sense since this almost happened in my early 20s.  I’m driving that used 1989 Ford Tempo (I paid $2000 for it in the early 2000s).  I go to slam on the brakes and nothing happens?  I wake up before I hit anything but I’m stretched out in bed trying to push on the brake pedal.

In reality I remember driving to my Grandparents’ house alone in that car for supper.  It was the summer.  At that point the brakes were questionable in that vehicle & needed repair.  I was driving on a quiet side street to get to their place.  Suddenly a little girl (under 10 years old) is riding her bike in the middle of the street.  I slammed on the brakes as hard as I could with both feet.  She froze & I leaned on the horn with my tires screeching.  I stopped in time, probably 4 feet away from her.  My car had turned sideways a bit, but she was OK.  I was a pile of nerves & broke into a cold sweat.  I’m pretty sure she didn’t realize what could have happened.  She was just frozen on her bike in front of my car.  I waved her on to keep going.  She carried on & I pulled over to the other side of the street.  I needed a few minutes to collect myself & calm down, I was freaked out!  After a couple minutes I carried on as usual.  I’ve never told anyone that, although I’ll likely never forget it.

This isn’t a re-occurring dream but I had it Wednesday night, in all of my dreams I’m able bodied.  I was at my deceased Grandfather’s condo.  We were barbequing chicken wings & having fruit smoothies in the summer.  I went inside to make more fruit smoothies.  I was rushing but I was in the house for a long time.  I went back out to the BBQ.  My Grandfather & brother were there & they called it done since I took so long.  That’s where my dream ended.  I woke up Thursday morning with severe pain in my hip flexors & pain on the bottom of my feet?  Kim says I do twitch a lot in my sleep, toes & fingers are constantly moving.  I’ve never BBQ with my grandfather at his condo, only at our family cabin.

After I published Tuesday’s post, I went to watch stuff on  I opened a video where a former record producer listened to the top 10 rock songs as listed by Spotify.  The top 4 songs were from 3 albums I just bought or pre-ordered on iTunes.  This doesn’t mean anything, I just thought it was nice to know that other people are into this stuff.

4, 3, 2, & 1 in that order above.

I’m nowhere near as hip or connected to pop culture as I once was.  Especially now at the age of 41, I know I stopped being hip long ago though.  I rarely watch TV outside of the 7ish shows I watch, including the news.  I do watch the odd Saturday Night Live though.  I missed the one hosted by Dan Levy with musical guest Phoebe Bridgers.  No disrespect but I’ve only watched the first 3 episodes of Schitt’s Creek & I have no clue who Phoebe Bridgers is?

She smashed her guitar on stage at the end of her 2nd & final song.  A year ago I would’ve been terribly offended by that, along with SO MANY other people on social media.  Then I realized a couple things.  I grew up watching “Nirvana” demolish EVERYTHING on stage at the end of a show when I was a teenager.  I also realized that I know absolutely nothing about her & I didn’t pay for the guitar, so who am I to judge?  Sure, I’d love to see her do something else with it, like donate to a charity or keep it.  If whoever paid for the guitar is OK with it being smashed, I don’t really care nor do I see any reason to lose sleep over it.

Why I will never buy a Gibson Les Paul, other than the astronomical price.

Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge singer) released the first single from his upcoming solo album “The Ides of March” to be released May 14th.  Yeah I thought “That’s not March 15th?”

It’s only Saturday & I’ve been playing my 7 string only.  I finally got it figured out.  I was using it just to learn songs, I only learned a few simple 7 string songs.  I’m just coming up with my own stuff and thinking “Ooooh, I like that!”  I took a break, at 4:30 pm, to play some other guitars & help Kim put our living room back together.  Then more 7 string action!  I did learn a “Dream Theater” riff, not the entire song.  I’ve never been or tried to be a progressive metal player, or a student at the Berkley School of Music like “Dream Theater” or “Big Wreck”.  Had to make the 7 string work for me, although this was fun to learn!  Kim was still putting the living room together on Sunday.  It’s usually better if I stay out of the way with my wheelchair.  So I came into this room and spent the entire day playing & practicing guitar, it’s what I spend my free time doing.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to own this Schecter guitar, there’s nothing I don’t like about it!  Kim asked me how many tunings there are for a guitar last week.  Well there’s typically 6 strings on a guitar with the musical alphabet of A-G sharp.  This guy explains tunings better than I could.

So in the video he covers down tuning & drop tuning.  I like to play in open tunings, different standard tunings, flat tunings, a fusion tuning, & a very small handful of alternate tunings.  My 7 string will stay in flat tuning for a 7 string, and anything can easily do a drop tuning.

The ultimate guitar tab site lists 19 tunings for 6 string guitars.  Then you have baritone & soprano guitars, well as 7, 8, 9, & 10 string guitars.  Anything beyond one 7 string guitar is a little much for me.

I’m no Ian Thornley, Jimmy Page, Mark Tremonti, Myles Kennedy, Mike McCready, Stone Gossard, Kim Thayill, Dimebag Darrell, John Petrucci, Steve Vai, etc.

I’ve seen and played a TON of other guitars.  I pretty much stumbled on to the Schecter Tempest, it called out to me & said “Please take me to your home???”  If Kim has taught me anything, it’s to listen, pay attention, and act!  So I’ve listened & paid attention, now I just need to shake Kim upside down & rummage through the couch to see if there’s guitar money hiding somewhere for the Schecter, PRS S2, and the Squier.  I’m pretty sure Kim’s pockets aren’t that deep & we haven’t had anyone rich or famous over because of Covid….yeah, I’m gonna go with Covid on that one….this has NOTHING to do with the fact that we don’t know anyone rich or famous at all.

I remember seeing a wall in a warehouse full of the guitars for “Pearl Jam” in a magazine.  There had to be at least 70 guitar cases in that photo.  Each guitar case had a piece of tape on it with the tuning of the guitar inside.  If you ever see “Big Wreck” live, there’s a guitar rack or 4 with 15 different guitars, you can usually tell how many songs they’ll play if you can count the guitars on the rack.  I think they have one song in standard tuning, 2 songs in drop D flat, & one in standard flat over 6 albums.  When I was younger (20s) I tuned my guitar to an open “C” tuning, I learned the intro to one Big Wreck song, just after I started playing guitar.  It took me a week to figure out the intro, I was not so SMRT.

This Schecter is cheaper to purchase than the pretty blue PRS S2, but it just wouldn’t be the same.  I grappled with that a LOT last week.  Kim even liked the Schecter guitar, that’s rare, she never makes a positive comment on ANY guitar.  My dream guitars (PRS Core models of Paul’s Guitar, Mark Tremonti PRS Core & Dave Grohl’s DG-335 by Gibson) are beyond the realm of possibility for me.  I’ve been thinking about the Schecter for too long to just dismiss it.  There’s always another Squier Stratocaster, they aren’t as appealing as this one is to me, but I personally don’t value any Stratocaster as much as I do the Schecter Tempest.  I’ll buy the PRS S2 McCarty 594 followed by the Schecter Tempest.  In the sound clips I heard, the Schecter coil splitting actually seems to make a “sonic” difference.  I’ve been told it’s a healthier hobby by a friend of mine that plans to buy a nice BBQ grill.  It may be true, but Kim disagrees, as far as finances go.

This Squier is not a traditional looking Stratocaster while being under $700 even after tax, with stuff you don’t see on a guitar under $1500 retail.  The shape, wood & 3 single coil pickups are the only traditional aspects of this Stratocaster.  The colour, pickup configuration, roasted maple neck & fret board & a flatter fret board than I’ve ever seen on a Fender or Squier model, & painted headstock are all stand outs on this guitar.  If I wanted a Squier, I could get a Squier for $349 or even $250.  I know I’d prefer the Schecter.

I’m really tired of shopping online for different guitars.  I have no plans or desire to continue researching & buying any guitars, EVER.  I don’t like shopping in person or online.  This decision comes as a complete relief for me.  I guess I also saw the Epiphone Prophecy series before any final guitars, but they didn’t interest me.

I don’t want a guitar to go untouched for more than a week or ½ a week, which is VERY achievable right now!  I’ve probably passed this point already to most people, but I don’t want to come off as greedy either.  That being said I spend VERY little money on anything else now other than $5000 a year until 2030 for my RDSP that I can’t withdraw from until 2040.  I’m in the long haul for the PRS S2 as it is & a shorter but still long haul for the Schecter.  I’m just done looking into the specifications of any guitar.  I know what I want to buy & I don’t want to look anymore.

I know that I’ll be tuning guitars to other tunings, but at least they’ll be in the neighborhood of the same tuning.  I really don’t want my guitars to have the same “…colour & shape…” tuning, pickup brands, manufacturer, etc.

I torture myself watching videos like this of Core & Private stock models of PRS guitars that are $5500 & more.  This is an instrument store in the U.K. that I watch on occasion for gear demos of new products.  S2 line of PRS in Canada is a high enough price for me and most other guitarists.

I do find that I watch far less of this stuff now that I’ve decided on what I’d like to buy & what I already have.  I do enter a free lottery for a guitar if I come across something that I know any family members or any good friends would like, and of course are playing guitar.

I was thinking of selling something for a guitar, then I realized that I have nothing I would sell, other than 2 large bins of DVDs & Blu-rays that we don’t need to keep.  We did keep 1 ½ bins of our favourite movies & TV series.

I didn’t sleep much Sunday night & ended up sleeping in longer than I’d like on Monday.  Monday just after noon it was nap time for an hour. Woke up before 2:00 pm & played more guitar.  I slept WAY better last night after this decision of figuring out which guitar will bring me more happiness.  Probably not the best bang for my money, but better for me in the end.

I saw a survey on the local news here in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada around the time of Joe Biden’s inauguration.  The survey asked “Do you follow American politics?”  I laughed and said out loud “Yeah, it’s roughly 85% of your new cast!”

I haven’t listened to “Muse” in a long time.  I should fix that & eventually learn a few “Muse” songs on guitar.

I guess the singer for “TOOL”, “A Perfect Circle”, & “Puscifer”, Maynard James Keenan, got Covid in March & it has left him with lung damage.  I’m not expecting to see his return to singing now and we waited 13 years for the final “TOOL” album on their contract.  They did release 7 songs on their album, each song was over 7:00 minutes long, that’s nice.  I do prefer listening to a full album instead of single releases.  Although finding the time to focus on a lengthy album is getting hard to do.

I had 2 1/2 great days last week.  The domestic terrorism encouraged by the President greatly angered/saddened/depressed & made me react poorly on Fridays post.  That was not a reaction, it was edited many times & with each edit it came out the same.  I apologize if it affected anyone negatively but I don’t apologize for my feelings.  I do regret saying “For those that have ever approved of him & voted for him, you drank the Kool-Aid & screwed up BIG but you’re human & people make mistakes.” Trump supporters that weren’t involved in the riot, you’ve done nothing wrong & are entitled to your own opinion.  There were peaceful protesters at the Capitol building, that’s totally acceptable!  The people I have an issue with are the rioters & government officials that allowed the situation to get to this point despite WARNINGS from half of the world & multiple red flags from the President.  Most people saw something like this coming, how did the US government miss this?  All I ever want from someone is that they do their job.  I’d say let’s put it behind us, but something might still happen?  REALLY!  NO MEANS NO!

I don’t live there, politicians didn’t consider something of this magnitude happening, nobody listened to warnings over 4 years, & there’s not much I can do about it.

Thanks to everyone that participated in the guitar give away, & those tried to win the guitar for me!  I didn’t get the guitar, but thank you for entering the contest!

If the winner of this give away is reading this, CONGRATULATIONS!  It seems like a FANTASTIC guitar!

Now that the contest/lottery is over & I didn’t get that guitar.  I’ve decided that I’ll save table scraps to A) Buy the PRS S2 McCarty 594 then B) Buy the PRS SE “Paul’s Guitar”.  If the Core model is good enough for the owner, the cheaper SE model is great for me!  I’ll discuss this later on.

Big news in the music industry!  Gibson guitars bought the Mesa Boogie amplifier company.  Dave Mustaine of “Megadeth” left his endorsement deal with “Dean” guitars and is likely headed to “Gibson” or “Kramer” guitars for his endorsement deal that will likely feature a Signature line of Dave Mustaine guitars.  Gibson also announced a Signature line of bass guitars by Gene Simmons of “KISS”.

Mesa Boogie amplifiers were a BIG thing!  If you’ve ever listened to rock, metal, or Nu-metal from the ‘90s – early 2000s, you’ve likely heard a Mesa Boogie amplifier.  Dave Grohl even played through a Mesa Boogie amplifier for a few years as the lead singer of “Foo Fighters”.  The Gibson Company buying Mesa Boogie was not the BIG music news of the week it was more that Dave Mustaine, fired from “Metallica” in the 1980s, has left his endorsement deal at “Dean” guitars but “no one knows” what Company he’ll go to as of this writing on Monday, January 11th?

Gibson guitars have released a signature line of Gene Simmons bass guitars.  I’m indifferent to this announcement, I’ve never played Bass guitar, I’ve never been a fan of “KISS” despite knowing some of their material & I’ve never been a fan of Gene Simmons despite watching his early 2000s reality show.  His kids are AWESOME based on what I saw on the TV series.

Regarding this opinion above, to say that “KISS” is irrelevant does & doesn’t make sense.  I think “KISS” is a band you’re either a HUGE fan of or just don’t care for their music.  The most modern & relevant guitar player endorsed by Gibson is Dave Grohl & Matthew Heafy of “Trivium” as far as I know?  Dave Grohl has a signature Hollow body Trini Lopez DG-335 which I believe is made by Gibson guitars, however I don’t believe it is in production for the average consumer?  I own a Matthew Heafy signature 7 string Epiphone Les Paul.  Which is now out of production but will be returning to production with different specifications.  I wanted the original version because it was a normal/non-metal looking 7 string guitar.  I do not see myself even considering another 7 string guitar.

The fact that Gibson has an iconic name on a bass guitar line is great, whoever it is.  I don’t see anything HUGE that makes it a Gene Simmons model.  It’s a traditional/common body shape.  If you like KISS and play bass guitar you’ll likely want one, & the price will jump much higher for that line because of the name affiliation.

I’d love to own a DG-335, a Mark Tremonti signature Core PRS in any colour other than black, or a “Paul’s Guitar” either an SE or super expensive Core model since I didn’t win the SE giveaway.  The most realistic one here is the “Paul’s guitar” PRS SE, although it’s still expensive for a guitar made oversea.

This is THE time for instrument geeks!  This is the time of year when 100s of companies roll out their new models & additions to their brand.  The news is just trickling out now, since it will be online instead of a 4 day trade show in California, but all should be revealed by the end of next week.

When I eventually purchase this guitar, it will the same colour as in the video but with the shape of a Les Paul, since that’s the wiring format of it.

Whenever this buying opportunity rolls around in the next 20 years, the “Paul’s Guitar” SE will look like this…

…by that time I will have likely sold some guitar stuff.

You’re probably asking “Why does this guy need more guitars?  He’s just wasting money!”  That’s a fair question.  I don’t need or want the same guitar ever & the only thing every guitar has in common is the neck of the guitar & that can be a different size/shape on any guitar.  I literally spend nothing over the course of a week, maybe $15/month other than groceries.  When I say I’m saving table scraps for stuff I want, that means no Christmas or Birthday gifts, just substitute money instead of gifts until these guitars are purchased.  I’m not about to tie up our shared income for myself, we’re using that for renovations at the moment & hopefully find a house in 2022.  If that means guitar purchases get pushed back, I’m more than OK with that.  Who knows maybe after I purchase the PRS S2 McCarty 594 I won’t want the “Paul’s Guitar” but I’m willing to wait for the “Paul’s Guitar”, there’s no rush to get it tomorrow & I’ll have to save up for both anyways.

I put a bunch of songs on hold to fully learn these 4 song’s on guitar.  I know with practice they will come along, one at a time.

I’m really focused on learning these 4 songs to add to my arsenal of stuff I like to play and find challenging to learn.  No you haven’t seen or know everything I’m working on guitar wise.  Those will start this week as I finish learning this song.

Honestly I’ve skimmed over a few of these songs a few times with a guitar in hand.  The videos I’ve previously posted are more of a “work in progress” or status reports.  Not something I’d play on stage for an audience that paid to hear it.  I figure I’ll learn a handful of songs & just play them into the ground, Kim’s gonna have issues, although that new amplifier I bought in December is FANTASTIC even at low volume levels, should I tell her that?

I was finding it difficult to find songs I want to learn on a 7 string guitar…HELLO I’ll be busy for months learning this mountain of glory!  Oh man am I gonna push myself learning that stuff.  That’s no walk in the park!  CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

I know I’ve said it more than once but the PRS “Paul’s Guitar” SE will truly be my final purchase.  It’s getting cramped in this room & after that purchase my guitar stands will be full.  Also other guitars are not nearly as desirable or worth saving money for, to me.

I’ve been sad/angry/depressed/disappointed & have not slept well after the events in the USA since they happened on Wednesday.  Sunday night was the first time I slept well since then.

Rough week for me last week.  I still think about Kim’s friend’s family.  I still plan to donate and I hope things get much easier for them.  I know that the accident will change many lives.  I still feel bad about the ripple effect my cancer caused.

Like I said, instead of having a gift exchange at Christmas with Kim’s immediate family, the 7 of us are each donating $100 and Kim & will add a little more as well.

I was totally freaking out about this last week & it just made me feel worse as the week went on.  The story hit too close to home for me, having been through my own situation.  I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.  It is good to hear that he’s doing well and he won’t be in the hospital for 4 ½ years.  They’re over their goal on the website, but any aid still helps!

After Kim & Brewster went to bed on Friday night, I played some guitar (unplugged from my amplifier) & watched an episode of “The Mandalorian” on Disney +

It all lifted my mood a bit, but I still fell asleep with tears in my eyes.  It was nice to wake up to the news of Biden winning the election, which helped with my mood also.  I think the next 2 ½ months will be a gong show, just because we all know how Donald Trump will be.  If you missed Joe Biden’s acceptance speech here it is…

I can now say that I’m feeling more hopeful and more like myself after last week.

My top ‘never going to happen’ guitar is a Dave Grohl 335 (Foo Fighters).  They’re just too much & I don’t know if they’re available on the market?  I could see myself downsizing my guitars, much later on & getting a Mark Tremonti (Alter Bridge) Core PRS or a Paul’s Guitar Core in a finish other than black, maybe orange or yellow tiger, down the road.  That’s a few decades down the road though & if I decide to scale back my guitars.  I do attain the guitars I like though & that are within my price range.

I neglected practicing these songs last week.  Got back to them on the weekend.

A small handful at a time.  Make sure I get them as good as possible before moving on.  After that probably some 7 string stuff.  I still plan to get this amplifier & footswitch after my 42nd birthday in January of 2022.  The guitar is going to be delayed by a few months and probably a few months more if Brewster needs anything, which is no big deal.  I’d prefer to give what I have to the family in need while I have it but I know that a little now & more later will help a LOT.

I only need one amplifier & I like to keep my foot pedals to a minimum, after I get the amplifier & hear it, then I’ll decide if I’d like an inexpensive pedal.  When I say “an” I mean 1 in total.  I have 3 currently & really don’t like cluttering up the floor with pedals.  If I can’t get the sound I want from the guitar & the amplifier, then I forget about getting that sound usually.

Even talking with the local music shop owner last week, he told me those amplifiers (the first generation of them) were flying off of the shelves.  He had about 5 of them there all with tags marking them as sold.

I watched “Saturday Night Live” WAY too early Sunday morning.  You could tell they had to re-write most of the show after Joe Biden won the Presidency.  Which is a pretty good trade off since the WORLD celebrated after the announcement Saturday morning.  SNL showed clips of London, Paris, & multiple USA cities with people dancing in the streets.  Donald Trump wanted to put America first, well he did do that as he promised, and the world was watching America really close!

Like I said, I watched “SNL” VERY early Sunday morning.  I went to bed at 11:00 pm Saturday & woke up at 4:00 am Sunday.  By about 4:45 am I gave up on the idea of falling asleep & got up.  We babysat our ‘nephew’ from 9:30 am until 1:30 pm.  ‘Uncle’ Chris was tired.  He was pretty calm, he just wanted hear “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” music & bop along to the music.  I actually crawled into bed shortly afterwards & got up around 6:00 pm.

We actually/finally had a blizzard on Sunday.  I guess you could call it more of a white out?  Not a lot of snow but cold weather & very low visibility.  It just dumped snow here Sunday night.  As of Monday morning there is actually 6” of snow on the ground between snow drifts & all of the snow from the storm.

I didn’t see much of Kim this weekend.  She worked 15 hours on Friday, around 10 hours on Saturday, as soon as our ‘nephew’ left here around 1:30 pm on Sunday she worked until 11:15 pm.  She did it again Monday night, worked from 8:00 am until 11:00 pm Monday & today she’s doing here full time job 8 hours a day.  Monday I catalogued all of our DVDs & Blu-rays in order to get the big bookshelf holding them out of here.  We’ll donate or sell the shelf once I take it apart.  We’ll keep the DVDs & Blu-rays though.  We’ve already got rid of some of them in the summer, but we still have a LOT!  I should have the shelf dismantled today.

Monday was day 1 of mandatory masks in Regina because of the Covid spike across Canada.  My father went to Costco as usual & what does he see?  A group, not an individual but several together, not wearing masks & being stopped throughout the store by staff offering masks to them, their response.  “We have masks, we don’t need them” and Costco is sold out of toilet paper.  They bring out palates of it in the store & they’re sold out of toilet paper?  Figure it out already!  We did this in March & April.  I left the house twice last week and that was a rare occurrence but I wore a mask, it really isn’t that hard.  Or are people not able to keep up with a guy in a wheelchair & an acquired brain injury.  If I see someone in public without a mask yet within 6’ of me.  I will politely ask them to get out of my personal space with an extra 6’ tacked on.  If they fail to do so I promise to lose my $h!+ on them!  Will this solve anything?  Yes, it will protect me.  DO THE RIGHT THING!

Did everybody catch “Foo Fighters” on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend?  New song “Shame, Shame”.  The album, Medicine at Midnight, will be out February 5th.

Exercise total for 5 days.

500 Curls w/ 20 pound dumb bells

300 Shoulder raises/Chest presses w/ 10 pound dumb bells

900 Crunches

900 Leg lifts

300 Squats

450 Back flexes

1:15 hour of yoga over 2 days

Little delay today.  The building manager & fire Marshall were checking the sprinklers & fire alarms in each suite this morning.  This happens once a year.

Great week for me!  Exercise went REALLY well & I felt very productive/accomplished on guitar too.  I learned the “Alter Bridge” song by mid-week & relearned “Learn to fly” & “Razor” by Foo Fighters by the end of Tuesday.  I just keep playing new songs over & over until it becomes automatic.  Relearning a song I’ve played 100s of times before gets boring but I know I need to do it.  To keep the tempo I sing the melody in my head or hum along if I can.  “Alter Bridge” is a new thing to me on guitar other than their song “Find the Real” most Foo Fighters’ songs I’ve played & sang quite a bit, although I have been learning “Rope” that was released in April of 2011 while I was in my rehabilitation program.

I’ve never attempted singing “Addicted to Pain” so I count the beats.  Pretty busy on guitar to sing along with…even just in my head!

Foo Fighters’ album ‘There is Nothing Left to Lose’ was released in November of 1999.  My grandmother died of cancer on December 5th, 1999.  I almost wore out the CD, with ‘Learn to Fly’ on it, that December.  It was my 3rd semester of University & I didn’t want to do anything after she died.  I would blast that album in my used 1989 Ford Tempo & drive 45 minutes away to the closest city, Moose Jaw, & back to kill time.  I’ve heard, played, & sang ‘Learn to Fly’ 100s of times.

I’ve been playing ‘Razor’ quite a bit & ‘Addicted to Pain’ a lot to memorize them both ‘Razor’ is memorized & ‘Addicted to Pain’ is new to me and just busy in general.  VERY satisfying though!

I think we can add a 1959 Gibson Les Paul reissue to my “never going to happen” list.  That’s why I’m saving for the much more affordable PRS S2 McCarty 594.

I will confess that I had a coffee on Tuesday since I didn’t sleep well Monday night.  That’s my 3rd coffee since the end of May!  I don’t know what my resting heart rate is now?  While I was doing exercise therapy, my therapist would check my pulse before & after my 30 minute workout first thing in the morning.  I think it was in the mid-90s per minute before my exercise without coffee?

Kim heard on Wednesday that October is “Disability Employment Awareness Month”.  In Saskatchewan anyways.  We were talking about me getting a part time online job Tuesday night.  I’m definitely up for that type of job.  I could still get my exercise done in the morning & work 4 hours in the afternoon or even work 2 ½ full days if needed.  Minimum wage in Saskatchewan is $11.45, I could do that for a bit of extra cash & having an actual purpose while contributing to society!  I’d rather be useful than dependent.

Even without a job & minimal TV the days just seem to be too short.  Weeks seem OK, & 2020 isn’t over yet?!?!  BALLS!  I’m awake by 7:30 am, shower between 11-12 depending on the day, play guitar, hang out with Kim, she goes to bed at 9:30-10:00 pm, & I typically go to bed between 11:00 pm to midnight.  I sleep in on Saturday.  Sunday I’m usually making my vegetable juice, eggs, & fish for the week.  Brewster will bark at us around 8:00 pm from the bedroom meaning he wants up on the bed.  Kim puts him up there, but he comes out to the living room 10-30 minutes later. “Who needs Sleep?”

I had a psychiatrist appointment & all is going really well.  He asked about my typical day & was happy to hear about.  Last time that I saw him I was prescribed a small dose of anti-depressants/sleeping pills, I told him that they seem to help most of the time.  He was happy to hear that too.  Really nice guy and very personable.  Came out to the waiting room to say hi, helped with the doors out of the building even.

Yesterday was Kim’s birthday.  Covid birthday.  Ordered in food, my parents brought over mine & Brewster’s gift to her while she was at work today & my dad drove me to my appointment about the time Kim was close to finishing work for the day.  She told me last night that she has today off, so we stayed up later than usual.  She wanted to relax & just watch some Netflix for a while after we had supper, so that was her Covid birthday.  Kim actually took Brewster out for a bit this morning to avoid the loud high pitched smoke alarms going off this morning.

I compared Ellen’s apology to Donald Trump’s response to sexual assault accusations, there’s a BIG difference in my opinion.  Ellen admits quite a bit that she avoids tabloids regarding her & her show.  She also calls herself a “…work in progress…”  Donald Trump was born in 1946 and hasn’t changed since.  All he ever says is how he’s so perfect at EVERYTHING!  I think we’re all a work in progress.  You’re not going to wake up one day and think “Oh, I’m perfect!  I guess I can stop evolving”.  The world is still spinning you might want to keep up?!

I’m suffering from “Trump Fatigue”.  I’ve recorded the debate & I’ll watch the “Borat” movie on Amazon Prime at some point this weekend, then I don’t need to see anymore until after the election results are given.  Then I can get drunk & forget what happened if Trump wins & pray or keep on keeping on with more optimism than usual if Biden wins.

This looks interesting.  I’m mostly deaf in my right ear from listening to LOUD rock & metal bands live.

YAY, “Nothing but Thieves” 3rd album “Moral Panic” is out today!  The first 2 albums & 4 song EP didn’t disappoint me in the least!

I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “The Colour and The Shape”

I exercised to “Tremonti” the album “Cauterize”

Got up at 6:20 am to exercise before my morning appointment.  I listened to both of these albums last night.  Too early to play music this morning.

Welcome back to the program!  You’re here so if you like what you see, might as well subscribe?  Either on Facebook or with your email in the bottom right corner, it’s really that easy & it’s free!  I know you want to tell your friends, go ahead!

In a perfect world, all politicians would learn to wear multiple hats at one time.  Unfortunately this isn’t a perfect world.  How about they do the job voters gave them?  That job includes transparency aka don’t treat us like a little kid & tell us everything will be OK.  Tell us the actual facts.  This is why a politician is elected.  If all of the voters die during a pandemic, who’s going to vote?  This virus doesn’t care where you live, what your race is, what God you pray to, what your sexuality is, etc.  Everybody is fair game!  Politicians, do your job.  Without the rest of us, you have no title.

Watching the news as everything is SLOWLY reopening means people need to stay informed now, just as much as when we all went inside.  In order to stay well informed I recommend checking this website…

Followed by closely following your local news.  They should have the information required for your specific area, city, or town.

There’s a LOT of false/inaccurate information floating around out there about the virus.  I don’t need to add to it.  Please remember that my thoughts are mine only NONE OF THIS IS HARD EVIDENCE!

Southern Saskatchewan, Canada (where I live, Regina) seems to be doing well.  If we keep this up, we start phase 3 of the reopening here on June 8th.

Every city or town re-opening will & should be different.  Keep yourself informed & at the very least please where a mask if it’s even just to show solidarity & respect.

I went to the hospital on Tuesday, May 19th.  That’s the first time I’ve been outside of our house or vehicle since Sunday, February 16th when most of my father’s side of the family was in town.  I wore a mask throughout the hospital regardless.  A mask won’t protect me as much as it will others & I’m likely OK, but a mask just seemed like the right thing to do.

Got up early on Friday, finished my exercise, showered, & then spent from 10:45 am until 3:40 pm learning the rhythm part to this song on that guitar…….1 hour break & right back to it for another 1 ½ hours.

I woke up around 10:00 am on Sunday & rolled around in bed until noon.  Got up & just rushed immediately!  Emptied the dishwasher, ate breakfast, filled the humidifier, hard boiled my eggs, loaded the dishwasher, did hand dishes, & baked my fish all within 2:30 hours.

We’ll add about 4:30 hours on Sunday of guitar practice.  Just repeating a riff I know so well & played many times before cancer so easily.  I practice so much because I want it perfect.  I also know that a person not in my position will likely get this stuff quicker than I will.  Kim was working most of the day to meet a deadline.  She got REALLY tired of hearing me practice the same line multiple times!

When I practice guitar, it’s not completely about learning the notes or chords.  It’s more about regaining the strength in my left arm all the way to my fingers.  More of a muscle exercise than anything.  When I’m learning something new to me then it’s about EVERYTHING!

My left arm is a mess to this day.  Despite my weights & guitar playing, it otherwise shakes & is remarkably weak if not resting on something for stability.  Even carrying a glass of water without spilling is near impossible.  When I do my weights twice a week, my dumb bell wobbles in my hand & requires WAY more focus & attention.  Playing guitar feels almost the same though.

I’ve always been a BIG fan of Gibson guitars, I don’t want to spend a boat load of money on a Gibson Les Paul though.  I have an Epiphone 7 string Les Paul, an Epiphone Explorer & a Tradition Les Paul.  So 3 of my guitars are modeled after Gibson body shapes.  Apparently Gibson is on a downslide…..after going bankrupt in the last 12 years.  On to PRS for me!  Admit it, it’s pretty & an even better match to my eye!

The McCarty 594 is named after Ted McCarty who became a mentor & good friend of Paul’s.  Ted ran Gibson guitars 1950-1966.  PRS offers a 25” scale length (regular length for PRS) guitar in their Core line.  The 594 is for the odd scale length of 24.594”.  Paul played with the original scale length for Gibson of 24.5” and settled on 24.594” to make it an odd number & I’m guessing to avoid copyright laws?  I think the biggest & nicest change is the shape of a PRS.  He took the shape of a Stratocaster & a Les Paul and overlaid them to find a body style of his own for the PRS brand.  Not all companies have distinct body shapes.  Not all but a lot of guitar companies make slight measurement changes or name changes to a Fender or Gibson shape.  Sorry, more carappé you didn’t need to know.

There was a link on Friday’s post that didn’t work.  It was a guitar store owner announcing that as of Friday May 15th at 5:00 pm the PRS factory in Maryland had reopened.  They will be tending to personal individual orders first, then anything ordered by stores for stock &/or display.  That’s great news as long as everyone stays healthy & safe.  I have no problem waiting for my ordered semi hollow guitar.  It’s not supposed to arrive until late August anyways, a little more time won’t hurt me.

I’d like to upgrade my amplifier for the $329 Boss Katana 50 Watt amplifier, but it can wait since it’s an absolute lowest priority for me & what I have to trade in for it wouldn’t really be worth much, so it’s also not in the budget regardless.  I’d much rather go for a new vintage sounding guitar than an uber digital amplifier.  All the word “digital” means to me is that there’s more stuff to potentially go wrong with it, that I can’t fix.

I usually talk about music here.  With the impact of Covid-19 there’s not much new music being released.  I think as far as new music goes, it’ll be a saturation on the music market the next 2 years since so many musicians are staying at home & writing new material.

Next release for me is the self-titled release from “Lamb of God” on June 19th.

I fell asleep to “Tool” the album “Lateralus”

I exercised to “Haley Williams” the album “Petals for Armor”

Welcome back to the program!  You’re here so if you like what you see, might as well subscribe?  Either on Facebook or with your email in the bottom right corner, it’s really that easy & it’s free!  I know you want to tell your friends, go ahead!

Remember how I said on Friday that I was going to watch guitar videos on for a while?  That lasted about 30 minutes, I wound up playing guitar for about 6 hours of the day.  At least it was a productive practice!

I tried guitar hack #5 below & it works!  I bought one bottle of beer to try out the strap lock hack, that strap’s not coming off.  I play sitting down obviously but I use a strap as an insurance policy.  I don’t want to drop a guitar.  No, I’m not getting 2 beer per guitar, 1 more bottle should do since I have actual strap locks on my other heavy guitar the rest are good as is.  Skip ahead to the 2:30 minute mark to see this genius idea!  A real set of strap locks will set you back about $30 with this idea you spend $20 here, get 2 beer & one strap lock!

I practice guitar so much because I’m trying to get back to 7 years of playing able bodied now with the effects of brain cancer after 12 years of not playing.  Practice over the weekend then I got up at 7:00 am on Monday, had breakfast, fed Brewster, gave him his pills, exercised, showered had a snack, & then practiced from 11:45 am until about 6:00 pm.

I’ll admit that I’m overly obsessed with guitar since I started playing so let me explain this.  Other than just being alive & cancer free, I really didn’t have much to look forward to the next day other than hanging out with Brewster & waiting for Kim to get home.  Don’t worry about not being great full for being healthy & alive every day.  It’s still something I don’t think about every day.  I just expect to be OK when I wake up every day.

Once I was out of the hospitals & my therapy programs it was & sometimes still is “OK, so what now?”  I don’t look forward to exercising 5 days a week, but after I do it I feel REALLY good.  I’d get bored just watching TV after I exercise.  Now that I have a hobby & something I really enjoy working on, things are much different.

I did it before & took it for granted too without realizing how much I’d miss it when it was taken away from me.  Playing guitar is something I can do that is exactly the same as it was before.  This is a case of “Absence makes the heart grow fonder”.

Imagine you most favourite thing is taken away from you for 12 years.  You’d likely gush about it too if you could do it again.  That’s me right now.

I don’t know of many guitar players that have a set number of guitars to own, other than what their spouse tells them?  I’d have to stop after these 2, that’s MY limit, not KIM’s.

S2 Custom 22 Semi-Hollow Body Guitar w/Gig Bag - McCarty Sunburst

SE Paul's Guitar - Aqua

If it was up to Kim she’d be OK with the one I have on order.  So in 2 years or more I’ll be using MY gift money for the final guitar & I think she wants to save for a new “bicycle”?  She wants me to get an adult tricycle, I used one in my rehabilitation, those are expensive & not how I want to spend my money.  I liked mountain biking, but I can’t do that yet with no balance.  MY cash is going to a guitar that I can play.

For me it’s about different look, feel, sound, & inspiration each guitar brings.  I no longer play each guitar I own every day.  It’s more of a question of “What kind of music do I feel like playing right now?”  I choose the guitar that sounds best suited for that style at that time.  I felt like playing mostly metal guitar on Sunday so I played my Explorer mostly & practiced some other stuff on my acoustic.

A PRS doesn’t sound like a Les Paul, an Explorer, or a Telecaster.  It’s made to sound in between a Fender & Gibson.  The one I’ve ordered & the one I’m saving for are both different.  I don’t want any guitar that sounds, feels, or looks the same as another.  I played flute and to me a flute sounds like a flute.  With a change of guitar, everything should sound & feel different.  However the player wants to make that change is up to them, pickups, body style, effect pedals, etc.  I can’t get the same sound out of one guitar to the next.  Variety is what I’m looking for.  Will I have a full range of musical variety with 6 different electric guitars?  Nope!  6 guitars are good for me though, the next person might want 3, and the next person might want 30?  I’ve thought long & hard about it & 6 electric guitars sounds great to me!

Why have I decided to go with PRS guitars?  LOTs of attention to detail & the owner, Paul Reed Smith, has been making guitars since he was a teen & lives by a list he made called “The 21 Rules of Tone”.  If he makes each individual part on a guitar resonate as loud & as long as possible, the less it will absorb the sound of the string vibrating.  That goes for each part of the guitar, the body wood, nut, tuning pegs, bridge, fret board, the neck wood, screws, etc.  If the manufacturers at PRS are paying attention to the screws on a guitar can you imagine how much attention they’re paying to everything else?

Paul Reed Smith will go into a music store to do a clinic or Q & A.  He’ll ask someone to get a PRS guitar and any other guitar they’d like not made by PRS.  He then let’s the person pick an amplifier.  With no effects they will plug the guitar into the amp and play one open string & time how long they can hear the note for, this is done on each guitar separately.  A PRS averages 44 seconds, most other guitars last on average 35 seconds.  There was a 1960s Fender Stratocaster that kept up to the PRS but that was it.

Vintera 60s Stratocaster, Pau Ferro Fingerboard w/Gigbag - 3-Tone Sunburst—Aqua.htm

If the guitar I’m saving for goes out of production by 2022 or 2023 when I go to buy it, which I don’t think it will.  I’ll continue to save for the next best thing, which unfortunately costs more.—Frost-Blue-Metallic.htm

Or as a last resort this.  These 58/15 pickups have a very similar sound & include the TCI technology.  In both of these guitars.—Whale-Blue.htm

I don’t want to spend that much on a guitar, so we’ll see what’s out there or if it’s not a PRS that interests me, I’ll stop all together.  I was a Gibson/Epiphone fan for years, I still am.  I have 2 Epiphones & Gibson’s are WAY overpriced if you ask me.  Paul Reed Smith is a genius mad scientist!

After 7 months of practice on guitar for 1:30 hours a day for an average.  I’m back to where I was after 3 or 4 months without the effects of cancer….on most things, not all of them.

As I headed to the kitchen for a snack Kim says to me “You should get paid for all of the work you put in!” I didn’t say anything but I thought to myself “Well, I get paid just under $28,000 a year.”

I don’t need to talk about what’s going on in the world, I’m not qualified for that.  You’re better off watching your local news or National news.  Being quarantined has not changed anything for me, & I’m fine with that.  I get to work on myself!

There won’t be any stairs during this virus stuff.  I don’t really want to touch a public railing or clean them before & after I’m done.

I fell asleep to “Queens of the Stone Age” the album “Villains”

I exercised to “TOOL” the album “Lateralus”

I made the font size larger & now the spellcheck doesn’t work?  Sorry in advance.

It’s Tuesday evening as I write this.  Before I posted Tuesday’s blog, I slept in, & didn’t excersise until after I posted the blog.  I exercised to “Chromeo” on Monday & “Foo Fighters” afterwards on Tuesday.

I played my “Fender” Telecaster Tuesday evening & quickly learned the rhythm to this…

…none of the fast licks but the main riff & verse/chorus.  I opted on Tuesday to learn different bands/sounds on each guitar instead of just going from 1 album by 1 band.  Different stuff to learn with each different artist/band.  I found a set list of cover songs from my first band in University.  I’ll go through that to start.  Not all of our songs are on there, I’ll add to it as I go, I think we ended up doing about 40 cover songs & wrote 7 of our own?

I guess I’ll call this a ‘retraction’?  I said that P90 pickups were double coil pickups, they aren’t.  They’re slightly larger, louder single coil pickups.  You typically see single coil pickups on Fender Stratocasters.  Gibson created the P90 pickup to be louder, have a different sound & look since they were on Gibson’s first solid body guitar a 1950 Gibson Gold Top Les Paul.  Double coil pickups were made later on.  They were created to remain at the same volume level as the P90 but included the second coil to add the volume & reduce the hum, that’s why they’re now commonly called “Humbuckers”.  Here’s a Gibson Les Paul 1950 Gold Top with P90 pickups…

Les Paul Standard 50s w/P90 Pickups - Gold Top

Best PRS SE on the market, aqua it is, I’m saving up!  If Kim decides on a trip, the money goes there.  The SE model was introduced to the SE line in 2019 & modeled after Paul Reed Smith’s Core guitar, it’s not going anywhere.  If I could afford a $5000 + tax guitar I’d get the Core model in Violet Blue Burst.  That would take me a decade or more to save for & Kim might kill me if I tried to!!!????—Aqua.htm

1 acoustic & 6 electrics are enough for me.  A PRS S2 on the way & an SE in the future & I’ll keep rockin’ n’ ROLLIN’ until I can’t anymore!  Your seeing these guitars a fraction of the amount of times I’ve looked at them!

S2 Custom 22 Semi-Hollow Body Guitar w/Gig Bag - McCarty Sunburst

I don’t necessarily switch guitars constantly.  The feel, shape, & sound of a guitar tends to dictate what comes next.  Example; my no-name brand green Les Paul aka “Kermit” feels & sounds great for most modern rock & a lot of grunge.  My Fender Telecaster aka “Ian” sounds best with blues, country, or most pre-1980 rock music.

Nope, I don’t need or want these guitars!  I’ve got my 7 string “Kiichichaos”, no-name Les Paul “Kermit”, Epiphone Explorer “Grohl”, semi-hollow Fender Telecaster “Ian”, an ordered semi-hollow PRS S2, & one day a PRS SE “Paul’s Guitar”.

All of these above are guitars I either don’t like the look or sound of, that’s why I’d say they’re not for me.  I find a floyd rose bridge to be more of a hassle/extra work on a guitar.  I’ve played 2 in my life & broke a string both times within 2 minutes.

Any & all youtubers I’ve been watching have helped me TREMENDOUSLY in relearning guitar after almost a 12 year hiatus!

If you like checking out guitars as much as I do, I recommend checking this blog out.

Good things don’t change over night usually.  As with my exercise & guitar playing.  Practice, repetition & persistence are essential for the desired outcome.  Best thing for most people to remember ‘There’s always someone doing better’.  That’s what keeps me going!

I went walking this morning in our parkade.  WOW were my calves sore just standing up.  I guess the change in how I do my squats was a good thing?

When I find that somethings not working the way I had hoped, I take a different approach to it after multiple attempts.  I try to learn from my failures.  That doesn’t necessarily mean everything was terrible.  Take the positives with you & throw out the negatives, then adjust accordingly.

Example; My leg exercises aren’t helping my calves.  My thighs are doing well though.  I changed the way I do my squats this week to benefit both areas.  Only time will tell if I get the desired results?  I won’t know tomorrow, probably by the end of the month or a couple of weeks after that?

There’s no short cut that I know of for what I’m trying to do.  There are no instructions on how to overcome the effects of brain cancer.  I’ve got to continue to get better at what I’m doing.  I can’t just throw my hands in the air, walk away, & say “Ah, good enough!”  I literally can’t “walk” away…I should have said “roll”.

Since everyone is stuck at home, you might as well use this time to do all of those little things around your house that you never have time to do.  Don’t do them all at once though!  Spread them out, who knows how much free time you’ll have?  If you’ve already done most of the stuff around your house, was there anything else on your list to accomplish?  Don’t most people want to lose weight and get healthier?  Now’s the time!  What else do you have to do?

Call, text, Facebook, Tweet, Instagram, Skype, video chat, or email someone to participate with you.  That will make you accountable for meeting your goal that day!  Contact them before & after, have fun with it!

I know I yap about guitars a LOT, but there’s a reason for that.  I’m home with Brewster 9-10 hours a day.  I eat, exercise, shower, watch very little TV, & play guitar.  Until this past September I didn’t have much to look forward to the next day after I finished my exercises.  Now I have this hobby I LOVED doing back in my life for the first time since the beginning of February 2008.

I was watching this on “The Ellen Degeneres Show” the other day & did it Thursday (4 takes since I kept messing up the words) before I did my weight exercises.  I challenge Mitch Fraser, Cameron Rorquist, Sukhdeep Sandhu.  I’m only supposed to tag 3 people, but if you’re reading this, I challenge you.  If a 40 year old physically handicapped guy can do it, so can you!  I tried to sing a few different songs but messed up the lyrics the video is my 4th attempt.

My video is on the Facebook page.

The new album from thrash metal group “Testament” is GREAT!  “Titans of Creation”

I fell asleep to “Clint Lowery” the album “God Bless the Renegades”

I exercised to “The Darkness” the album “Hot Cakes”

Many reason’s that I feel the don’t need another guitar, outside of the fact I find it greedy when I’ve already received 1 of 2 guitars I’ll receive in the first 6 months of 2020.  Kim deserves to go on a trip.  She’s earned it through all of her hard work at work, dealing with me, helping me with my exercise, loving me despite the bumpy road on cancer lane, always putting myself & Brewster ahead of her own needs, etc.  I get a lot of credit for putting in the work for my recovery.  Don’t forget how important she is in my story.  Kim helps me a TON, she allows me the time to do all of this recovery stuff while doing SO much more you don’t see or think about!  She’s always been my #1 priority, even when I was in the hospital.

I’ve got or will have more than enough guitars once the PRS guitar comes in April.  There are 3 (Fender, PRS, & Gibson) high end guitars I’d like to try not buy.  Nobody keeps a high priced guitar in stock in case it doesn’t sell.  Also I’m not yet a technically proficient guitar player.  Every guitarist I see seems to be though.  I’m more of a simple chord player who will play the riff/hook of a song or have a conversation with different dynamics on the guitar.  I’m not going/able to play 20 individual notes in 10 seconds.  There’s a PRS I’d think about after I play & hear the one I ordered.  It will do the 16 different things with the electronics in it.  Price tag & sound are my BIG reservations.  If I choose to get a guitar, this is of course years down the toad if I’m still able to play & can justify it.  It’s mostly a not needed or gonna happen thought.

We had one rehearsal where I just started playing 2 simple chords as we were setting up.  Once someone would get all of their stuff in order they’d jump in & play along.  It was cool, eventually the 4 of us just played with different dynamics for a couple minutes.  I can’t write a certain type of song, I always wrote lyrics & melodies.  I’d chime in once in a while & say let’s try it this way or let’s make this part softer or more aggressive.  The notes on the guitar or the chord pattern wasn’t something I was comfortable with, that’s what I’m working on now.

I even feel guilty/greedy writing any & all of this.  It’s FAR beyond time Kim gets some recognition for the great things she’s been doing for me.  My successes are because of her successes!  I’m just 50% of the equation.  I felt extremely greedy/guilty when she got me the 7 string I was groaning about.

A house is for both of us, Kim wants to travel & I want to be with her.  She gets to choose the destination.  If it’s outside of Canada, passports will be attained & I won’t complain (I’m not a traveler).  Where will the money come from?  We’ll save for the trip.  We did it for my guitar, so of course we’ll do the same for Kim’s trip.  This isn’t the Chris show, it’s the Kim & Chris show.  Can’t have one without the other, it’s just not right!

Kim should get her trip & I really don’t need another guitar.  Upgrading & selling my current amplifier would come before a guitar anyways, after a trip & a wheelchair accessible house.

GOOD GRIEF!  I’ve heard of people having 2 or 3 amplifiers but REALLY?!?  I guess when you own a relatively small guitar manufacturing company you could afford that many amplifiers!!??!!??  The company is based in the UK, it’s fairly small in North America.

If we eventually move I’d sell my used amplifier with an 8” speaker to get a BOSS Katana II amplifier with a 12” speaker.  I might blow my 8” speaker on a clean channel if I turn it up, especially with the 7 string guitar!

As basic as they come nowadays.

Definitely after more important things happen!  My current amplifier is great since we live in a condo.  I keep the volume pretty low not to bother others & at 9:30 pm on any night, I either stop or wear my headphones.  The Katana amp is more realistic to my needs once we move and a fraction of the price of that guitar.  If I had the cash, I’d chat with Kim about it & likely get one in a few weeks here.  There’s a dozen of them at the music store here.

There you go $300 + tax in town!  Last on the list of priorities still.

How was our long weekend?  GREAT!  Just not long enough.  My aunt & uncle came to Regina from Airdrie, Alberta & my cousin & common-in-law husband came from Winnipeg, Manitoba.  Great weekend, just too short need to have a bit more visiting time.

I fell asleep to “Trivium” the album “The Sin & the Sentence” followed by “Dead Sara” both full albums on iTunes that I bought yesterday

I exercised to “I Mother Earth” the album “Scenery & Fish”

Weekly exercise total; 720 pushups, 560 leg lifts, 300 crunches, 240 squats, 180 tricep pushups, & 120 back flexes.  I took shorter rest periods again today.  Every day I do my exercises I A) Make sure I’m doing them all properly & B) Try to take shorter rest periods between sets.

This week was pitiful in my opinion.  I expect more from myself.  I am often my worst critic though.  You might think differently, but that’s only 3/5 days.  I stayed up until the early morning on Saturday cleaning up the kitchen, then I was over tired on Monday & couldn’t sleep.  I need to remember I’m not in my early or mid-30s anymore, & I can’t burn the candle at both ends anymore.

Another appointment next week after having 2 this past week.  Another in the summer at some point.  I hope the one in the summer is my last one there?  The appointment next week will be a reoccurring checkup/refills on the pills I take.

Unless I get a call before then, everything should be fine.  I think, if my cancer was to come back it would have already.  The doctors thought it might “come back” in 2013.  That was 5 years ago, I think I’m “in the clear”.

Sometimes it takes a brush with death to finally wake up.

They’re lumped in with the grunge movement.  They were based in San Diego & got together in 1989.  I have everything from the 1992 release “Core” all the way up to & including “Stone Temple Pilots (2018)”.  I have mostly CDs of this group & I think the recent 2 albums from iTunes.  I really didn’t get into them until a few years ago.  I had a bunch of their CDs, & didn’t realize I had all of their stuff on CD & amongst my iTunes library.  Yes, the singer, Scott Weiland, died of either alcohol or a drug overdose a few years ago.  The band carried on with an EP with Chester Bennington who felt it was too much for him with his role in “Linkin Park” also.  Unfortunately he died as well not to long ago.

CORE 1992

I’m pretty sure this was about the album that caught my attention.

  1. 4 1999

HIGH RISE w/ Chester Bennington        2013

This last album is with their new singer Jeff Gutt.  Runner up on the show “The X Factor”.  Well he didn’t win.  Who did?  This is exactly why I’m opposed to these talent contest shows.  He got the last laugh though.

Stephen Colbert’s musical guest Tuesday night was Paramore!

Well, they’re not gone just in serious debt.  I like “Gibson/Epiphone” guitars.  All of this hipity dipity music the young kids are listening to did this.  Is “Fender Guitars” next?  Will “PRS (Paul Reed Smith) Guitars” become the next BIG thing for guitar players?

100 best debut albums.  No, Nirvana’s “Nevermind” was their 2nd big release after the album “Bleach”
