I fell asleep to “Pearl Jam” the album “Gigaton”

I exercised to “Foo Fighters” the album “In Your Honour” disc 1

That’s what I’m talking about!  Get up before 7:40 am and get the exercise done before 9:20 am!

Our place has been off of the housing market since the end of March.  I was told we’d be off of the market when our initial & only option at the time was sold in October.  I had/have no intent to go through trying to sell our condo suite in the land of cheap vacant condos & now a global pandemic.  Someone that saw the house while it was listed wanted to view it Thursday evening.  As of the writing of this on Saturday we have not heard a word & I really don’t expect to.  If we end up getting a realistic offer, we have no place to go for under $390,000.  This entire idea of us moving just adds to my already REALLY $#%&^%$ high stress level.  A house for us to move into will cost us over $410,000 minimum now.  As far as the entire moving thing goes for me, MAYBE next year?

This is an unpredictable housing market without this pandemic going on.  I say we payoff more of our mortgage & see what it’s like next year or the year after?

It’s been discussed & I’ll be saving for this FINAL guitar all while eliminating anything & everything else I spend money on that’s not a necessity.  While awaiting anxiously, yet patiently, my already ordered and already once delayed PRS S2 guitar.  This distant future guitar does more but will cost less because of the model line it is in & I think it’s pretty.  Birthday & Christmas gifts from my family will be the same for me as before & for a few more years.  No gifts, just cash please?  Yeah I’m streaming Apple Music, might as well pay for Satellite Radio, more music I don’t own but keep paying for?

This won’t cost ½ as much as my ordered guitar because it’s an SE model…& then my guitar glass will be full!  We have some debt to pay off before this happens though.  I don’t want a lot of guitars, I do want each guitar to have an individual purpose.  What I will never understand is that many guitars, in this price range, from many different companies do NOT come with any type of case???  If it wasn’t the fact that I ordered a guitar for whenever & my Lackamoola, there are a few of these available through the same franchise in 2 stores in Ontario.  Ah well.

SE Paul's Guitar - Aqua

I ordered this beauty in January & it was to be here this month.  Before all of this Covid-19 stuff happened it was delayed until mid-August.  I haven’t heard anything since but I just assume it will be further delayed until maybe a self-purchased Christmas gift?  As for when I get it doesn’t really matter right now.  As long as anyone & everyone is safe & healthy, I can wait for a guitar.  Here’s a message from Paul Reed Smith himself from Thursday or Friday?

S2 Custom 22 Semi-Hollow Body Guitar w/Gig Bag - McCarty Sunburst

I know this guitar will be AMAZEBALLS whenever it gets here!  I was reading up on the difference between the 85/15 s pickups in this guitar vs. the TCI s pickups in the other.  Big difference which is exactly what I was looking for, along with the many other differences!  I read a bunch of manufacturing science you likely don’t want to hear about.  Google it if you want to?

I’ll post a reaction video on Facebook when I get this & a photo on here.  Maybe a play through later on but…

S2 Custom 22 Semi-Hollow Body Guitar w/Gig Bag - McCarty Sunburst

SE Paul's Guitar - Aqua

In retrospect you probably didn’t want to read about all of the other differences (which there are more of) that I wrote about.  Unless you’re a fussy guitar playing individual.

Do I need expensive/nice gear?  Nope, the stuff I have is great & gets used A LOT!  I missed out on making money & buying new gear.  That’s where the money would have gone to anyways, well especially now without kids.

I’d like to get a job so I’m not considered a “mooch” but I was never going to spend my money on cell phone, tablet, laptop, video camera, microphone, zoom, skype, facetime, etc.  I’ll likely need that stuff for an online job?  If I wanted that stuff outside of work, I’d have it.  All it has ever looked like to ME is a money grab that I don’t need/want.

Well, “Lamb of God’s” new album is delayed from the initial release date of May 8th until June 19th.  No shipping available because of Covid-19.  Not much anyone can do about that?

Still some music I’m waiting for to be released.  “Chevelle”, “The Pretty Reckless”, “Foo Fighters” & “Megadeth” are hoping to record soon.

Midnight Eastern Time Thursday night/Friday morning in North America is the release of “Trivium” What the Dead Men Say

I fell asleep to “Big Wreck” the album “…but for the sun”

I exercised to “Flatlined” the album “The Deaf Leading the Blind”

I thought I was fine Friday afternoon, little bit achy & very tired.  Kept some food & water down.  Same thing on Saturday.  I go to bed Saturday night, wake up at 2:00 am, feel like garbage, become very uncomfortable & unable to sleep afterwards.  Get up feeling sluggish in the morning, go to the washroom & throw up.  What’s the deal with all of this?  Felt VERY tired Sunday, Sunday night was a decent sleep.  Still tired on Monday & wasted the day by doing a lot of nothing.  Today Brewster & I were having breakfast as Kim left for work.  Now that I’ve completed my exercise I realize staying in bed would have been much more beneficial.  Not like I was going to get a participation ribbon?

A house seems to get further & further away from even being a possibility.  The nail in the coffin drove home when I saw this report on the local news.  Condo owners are hooped in Regina if they want to move.

https://regina.ctvnews.ca/overbuilding-leaves-regina-s-housing-market-moderately-vulnerable-cmhc-says-1.4820226?fbclid=IwAR3yeAhTbndb7dwup8VrIHydMMPEfGEo9405ukNcpEwcisBxq_R2psS7n68

The housing market in Regina is “moderately vulnerable”?  Where is this other Regina they speak of where the housing market is this “moderately vulnerable”?  I would like to live in that Regina please.  I’m not holding my breath on selling this place & finding our ideal home within certain time frame or whatever the contract says?

Kim & I got a FRIENDS Lego set for Christmas.  After 8-10 hours over 4 days we finished it together!  It is now displayed on our media center below our TV.  Right at eye level for our friends’ kids.  That’s when I sound like a new parent “Please sweetie, don’t touch that?”

We’re older, calmer, & childless.  I was diagnosed/passed out at work 6 days after my 28th birthday.  We hadn’t made it to our 3 year anniversary yet.  While we were occupied with cancer, our friends were busy having kids & getting pregnant.  That was something we wanted to do.  I didn’t want to raise a child in the area of town we were in at the time.  Busy street, large sports bar within a 3 minute walk, many car accidents in or near our front yard, & I think I ended up calling 9-1-1 about 3 or 4 times regarding accidents &/or drunks trying to get into our house at 2:00 am.  That was within 2 years & 2 months.  Not an area I’d want to raise a kid.

We moved into our condo after I was out of the hospital out of necessity more than anything.  No stairs here & its wheelchair accessible.  We feel a bit out of our element here though.  I’m now 40 years old but I’m guessing the average age of other residents here is 65?  We don’t visit with other people here, different lifestyles.  We’re always on the go yet we see signs in the elevator for a potluck or a card game tournament.  Nothing wrong with that but we’re not there yet.  Come 9:00 or 9:30 pm at the latest, my guitar amplifier is turned off.  I don’t want a noise complaint coming my way!

I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “Sonic Highways”

I exercised to “Jimmy Eat World” the album “Surviving”

Here’s the Canadian Red Cross website if you’d prefer to donate there for my birthday.  Donate whatever amount you like whenever you like please?

https://www.redcross.ca/

There are photos of myself & each guitar I own in the Facebook links on here.  You should know that I despise photos & videos of myself.  Also any audio of myself.  I’ve sang on a few recordings, I’ve listened to them a handful of times, all I do is find/notice mistakes either on guitar or vocals of myself.  I very seldom listen/look at to any type recordings of myself.

Kim called me on the way home from work Friday to get ready to go out to see “Little Women”.  I’m not much of a fan of period pieces, but there was nothing bad about it, I’ve never read the book.  I had to ask her this on the way though…

She didn’t remember that moment.  I guess when we were dating she just used me for my “Friends” DVDs.  Not sure why she keeps me around now?  Do you think she like…..LIKES me?

I’ll play the heck out of the new 6 string, then continue saving for a trip to where ever Kim wants to go.  Then I’ll save for the Limited Edition Epiphone Les Paul signature Matt Heafy 7 string guitar.  Less than half the price of the guitar recently ordered but it will take longer to save for…….and it’s off of the new 2020 Epiphone guitar website.  I guess all that remains are the guitars in stock at stores.  I feel sick!  There are other 7 string guitars but this was the only one I really liked.  Our “guitar savings” are spent.  Instant gut wrenching heartbreak…….as of Monday morning I find out that Long & McQuade have 9 in stock (at other stores in Canada) and can still get them in from the supplier.  I can’t afford that now, I was thinking a few years down the road.  I think a vacation with Kim & hopefully a house should happen before my final guitar purchase is made, if the funds are available?  I’m doubtful this will still be available at that time.

All 6 strings for me, but HOT DAMN that sexy PRS!  April seems so far away!  I feel like a kid in November waiting for Christmas!

https://www.long-mcquade.com/22227/Guitars/Electric_Guitars/Gibson/Matt_Heafy_Les_Paul_Custom_7_String_Electric_Guitar.htm

I watch WAY too many guitar demos of my ordered guitar & this Epiphone model!

You’ll notice there is no Matt Heafy signature 7 string Les Paul guitar listed in the link below.  The hundreds of others don’t compare for me.  It’s about getting this particular model, not just any 7 string.

https://www.epiphone.com/Guitars/Collection/Artist

The PRS is my last regular guitar, if the 7 string is available 5 years down the road that will complete my guitar purchasing.  If it’s not available I’m done now.  I’m pretty sure I’m done now. Before I was sick I figured one guitar every 4 or 5 years.  Now on one income, I’m done.  Expensive hobby.

I bought an S2 semi-hollow.  They’re really not that affordable unless you started the company!  Mine is an S2 custom 22 semi-hollow.  Same line, different model.  5th highest model out of 6.  Even the cheapest model is more than $1000 retail if it’s a true PRS made in Maryland.  There are other PRS style guitars that are cheaper made overseas.

Kim’s at work all day and doesn’t see my exercise other than walking & stairs where she has to make sure I don’t crack my noggin’ open.  I’m rather inept when it comes to any type of technology so you’ll have to open the Facebook link & scroll down for photos of me & my guitars on Facebook.  The photos were taken on Saturday, January 18, 2020.  I hope this works, my apologies in advance if it doesn’t.  The photos will only on the Facebook link, sorry.  https://www.facebook.com/A-Million-Miles-Away-Blog-1597618270456002/

A photo of my ugly mug a few weeks shy of turning 40.  12 years after stage 4 brain cancer.  I collapsed at work on Tuesday, February 5th, 2008.  Yes, I’m wearing shorts indoors & it’s a blizzard outside.  I went to a movie in shorts Friday night while wearing shorts, a hoodie, toque, and gloves.  I went from the vehicle to the movie theater.  Yeah, it’s cold out.

https://www.facebook.com/1597618270456002/photos/pcb.2395341334017021/2395339010683920/?type=3&av=1597618270456002&eav=AfbblMFkP4oNVdGt-0hcdnXcrL39QdjDoasY4BmjIpbxgIGS-fM2SQN_WkikR1a65nGM0dKEPtqvBqWNzx-nhiNr&theater

This is me holding my first guitar I received on my 21st birthday from my family.  My (Green) Les Paul made by Tradition guitars that no longer exist.  The guitar is exactly the same as when I received.  This was my main guitar for every live show I ever played.  This guitar seems to push more bass tone, yet the pickups produce a lot of high pitched feedback if you’re not conscious about it.

https://www.facebook.com/1597618270456002/photos/pcb.2395341334017021/2395338807350607/?type=3&theater

This is my (black) Epiphone Explorer.  My girlfriend (now wife) bought it for me as a Christmas gift in 2002, we started dating in April of that year.  I had the pickups changed to EMG pickups for $200 after one show with it.  There’s an active EMG 60 in the neck pickup & an EMG 81 in the bridge pickup.  EMG pickups push more of the higher & mid-range tones which can also cause feedback.  Dave Grohl played a black Gibson Explorer early on in his career with “Foo Fighters”.  My reason for the cursive “F” logo of the band which I added as well as the Canadian flag.  Epiphone is the cheaper version of guitars also made by Gibson.  Same design, cheaper materials.  This has become my main guitar when playing electric guitar.  I play rock music for the most part while dipping my toe deeper into metal music.

https://www.facebook.com/1597618270456002/photos/pcb.2395341334017021/2395338647350623/?type=3&av=1597618270456002&eav=AfbJCzMeEa9rmWYpw29QFBtfn0g8L-v1aNw0LSEb8Y95UURTZGWThasK1-bEZBaS8qU5iO_r6XV35iQbDWXVIfsb&theater

This is the (Brown) Fender Telecaster I received as a gift from a very good friend of mine while going through physiotherapy in 2009.  This is the guitar signed by Ian Thornley, the singer-songwriter from the Canadian rock band “Big Wreck”.  This guitar has 2 single-coil pickups instead of humbucker pickups.  It’s also semi-hollow.  The sound is more geared towards a twangy country music sound or a blues sound on the neck pickup.  I rarely play this guitar, mostly because of the sound, country & blues aren’t suited to my taste in music also the neck of the guitar just doesn’t feel comfortable in my hand?  It is a very nice looking guitar, at least I think so!  I’ve always liked the shape of a Telecaster!

https://www.facebook.com/1597618270456002/photos/pcb.2395341334017021/2395339184017236/?type=3&av=1597618270456002&eav=AfZwjH1yQ6tQq72AZTYvN_HiuYdOzVQRwsvbugMOTag5ae3VkHUUUtK6aSed6t-DWw7TIbzF8hh0qlacBztdmRKo&theater

My acoustic-electric hybrid guitar made by Takamine.  This guitar is the only guitar I have purchased for myself.  I think the electronics inside the guitar fell during the photo?  All of my guitars are either hung on the wall or in a stand on the floor.  They’re more accessible so I can grab one at any time.  My acoustic is typically found in the living room.  The electric guitars are in our office by my guitar amplifier.

https://www.facebook.com/1597618270456002/photos/pcb.2395341334017021/2395339384017216/?type=3&av=1597618270456002&eav=AfaEAaLgalZNaMOeIatTd6fWWAxtfYtZ8rD3-ZeExeOSFoI09Uky7NxYjh3IaQSPP7hQl6BGwPiypus_23UlH6o4&theater

The acoustic guitar on the wall is the one I bought for Kim, the same Christmas she bought me the Epiphone Explorer.  She wanted a blue acoustic guitar.  It’s a blue Washburn acoustic with Grover tuners.  The only blue acoustic I could find in 2002.  She never learned to play it.  I used it to teach a few friends & I’m using it now for the same reason.  No charge, not a wealth of knowledge in my head, just the basics!

My amplifier volume is set to 1 ½ out of 10.  I don’t turn it up in case it bothers our neighbors.  My current amplifier contains one 10” speaker but is VERY loud.  My previous amplifier, before I was sick was 100 Watts with a cabinet of four 12” speakers to put things into perspective.  We lived in a bungalow with my gear in the basement.  I don’t miss carrying my amp & speaker cabinet to the basement at 2:00 am.

All of these guitars are out of production.  I guess they’re not cool enough for others, I like them though!

I hope my ordered guitar isn’t delayed significantly.  PRS were already sold out of the more expensive models, mine wasn’t one of them, before the trade show (NAMM 2020 Jan. 16-19) this past weekend in California.

My other hobby was playing Baseball, which I’m too old to play despite my iPatch & wheelchair.  I watch CFL football & the Toronto Blue Jays faithfully.  CFL starts in the summer.  Blue Jays spring training starts in mid-February.

I find that there is just too much TV these days.  When the fall premiers started I stopped recording quite a few.  Now with the New Year premiers I cancelled the recording of a few more & even bowed out of watching “This Is Us” last week.  There are about 10 shows that I never miss but EVERYTHING is an hour long lately?!  Add streaming to that, I don’t have that kind of time!  Sure I’m at home all day but I have stuff to do & a lot of the shows I watch with Kim when she gets home around 6:00 pm from work.  When I watch 3 hours of baseball every day in the fall, time management gets tricky, especially this upcoming year since the Blue Jays might be decent!  I always find time, as soon as Kim’s home, & we watch “The Ellen Degeneres Show”, “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”, “Prodigal Son”, & “Criminal Minds”.

Guitarist “Mark Morton” from ‘Lamb of God’ has released a 5 song EP.  Not sure if they’re all cover songs but I instantly recognized 2 1990s rock songs.  One by ‘Pearl Jam’ & one by ‘The Black Crowes’ this is a tame/relaxing EP, not metal at all.  He plays guitar with a different guest vocalist on each song.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.  “The Cure” X 2, “Big Wreck”, “Jimmy Eat World”, “Alter Bridge”

I thought the “Big Wreck” album “…but for the sun” was my favourite Big Wreck album.  It quickly became one of my favourite albums overall, the new Alter Bridge is very close to that as well….and it was just released on Friday!

I stated this on Friday “Ideally we’d be moving into our new house by mid-November, but it’s been purchased, we can’t change that, just move on & keep doing our thing.”  This is not correct.  Today it is closer to correct.

Ideally we’d have gotten our dream home & be moving in November 2nd & 3rd.  That’s not happening, since we have nowhere to move to.  We’re looking but wheelchair accessibility in a house is rare in a smaller city.  It may be out there, but it has to be good enough to make it accessible on a budget.

I was feeling guilty for the lack of exercise last week, so I did 300 crunches, 200 curls, 50 shoulder raises, & some yoga.  Brewster was at daycare on Friday.  He came home a little grubby & needed a bath.  He was really tired after daycare, as usual.

The Riders won their game Friday night, 2 games left in the regular season & a Western final home game isn’t out of the question……………..yet.

Well Saturday was a relaxing morning.  Kim got up way too early to clean the car in the garage after making a trip to Tim Hortons for her coffee.  Late in the afternoon we saw another nice house that was so not wheelchair accessible.  That’s 4 or 5 swing & misses now.  I assume that number will grow exponentially.  Great neighbourhood, really nice place, but very little room for me to get around.  We’re looking, it’s hiding somewhere?

Kim’s aunt & 2 cousins were spending the night at Kim’s sister’s place in town.  We went over for supper and a visit before they head home to Alberta in the morning.  Of course on the way home we pass a Tim Hortons!  I don’t think Kim can go past one without getting a tea or coffee, I should’ve told here I had to pee!

We got home around 9:30 pm.  We watched the last 3 episodes of “The Ranch” season 7 on Netflix.  WOW if there was ever a cliff hanger for the next season that was it!  I stayed up until shortly after 1:00 am desperately searching for a house on www.mls.ca I found some possibilities, but none of those have worked out so far.  If only stairs & steps weren’t my nemesis.  Me, defeated by a 6” step!

Alice Cooper is coming to Regina Monday, April 13th, 2020.  Tickets went on sale on Friday, & somehow there are no wheelchair seats left.  I find that odd, that’s the only bonus to being in a wheelchair!  Wheelchair seating never sells out, at ANY venue.

Sunday evening was more house shopping online.  Kim wants an attached garage with a direct door from the garage to the house.  We both know I need wheelchair accessibility.  I’d like a back deck I can get onto & let Brewster hang out outside.  12 online possibilities, 0 worth looking at!  Attached garage seems to be the biggest issue.  There are attached garages, but the entrance to the house is either the front or back door?

Monday is Kim’s day off before her actual birthday “Kim & Chris’ Day of Fun!”

Just the “DAY OF FUN!” is true.  Kim’s cool, do you think I’d be married to her for almost 15 years if she wasn’t?

Quiet day.  Kim didn’t feel much like venturing out & unless you like to eat & drink, there’s not much to do on a week day in Regina.  We took Brewster to daycare, went out to a local coffee shop, voted, came home & shopped online for houses to look at.  We found 3 in total, I think 2 of them are financial pipe dreams but are also move in ready.  Kim wants to look at them & see what they’d cost us though, looking can’t hurt I guess?  Out of the 12 I found online in our price range, Kim approved of 1.  It’s one of those ones that will be fine as is, but we could make it better.

Kim seems to make large purchases on her birthday, we’ll see if she repeats that again.  I might be living on macaroni………………….cheese is far too fancy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.  “Pearl Jam”, “Queens of the Stone Age”, “A Perfect Circle”, “Chromeo”

Friday was tame.  Finished my exercises for the week, did very little stuff that needed to be done.  Watched the first episode of the “Newsroom”, then watched the Blue Jays give away a game to the Tampa Bay Rays.

Saturday I stayed in bed too long.  Kim went out to grab a few things.  I got up & used our instant pot to hard boil some eggs for the week.  Then I watched the Blue Jays try to lose another game but they got the win, it was sloppy but it still counts as a win.

Folded & put away some laundry, quiet weekend.  We watched some crave TV for a bit, then Kim rented “On the Basis of Sex” the story of how Ruth Bater Ginsberg got to where she is today, despite sexist laws.  I could tell I was catching a flu or cold.  I was getting warmer & aching in my bones.

We got the “Crave TV” app last week.  Kim is almost done the series “A Handmaid’s Tale” & I’ve just started “The Newsroom”

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   First scene of the first episode.  This was before Trump’s time.

I got the aching in my bones & joints again, no fever yet, “phlegm” though today.

No blog post until Thursday & then late on the following Monday.

ROB ZOMBIE (former singer of White Zombie)

I know right now a PILE of metal fans are freaking out, because of this next sentence.  I much prefer “Rob Zombie” as a solo artist to the band “White Zombie”.  He’s likely thrown in to the “Nu Metal” genres because he doesn’t fit into any other specific metal sub-genres.

If you ever see him in an interview, WATCH IT!  He may look odd with his dreads & clothing choice, but HOLY COW is he a smart guy, & a really good interview!  He’s a shock rocker, he’s toured with “Alice Cooper” & currently with Marilyn Manson, and no I’m not a fan of Marilyn Manson.

When he toured with “Alice Cooper” they’d watch the other guys set, & try to out-shock each other the next night.

“Rob Zombie” is also a writer & director known for graphic horror movies.  One of his first movies was called “The Devil’s Rejects”

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did get to see him open for “Ozzy Osbourne” in Saskatoon in 2006?  For me, “Rob Zombie” was just a little bit better.

I have 2 studio albums of his & a greatest hits album.  I’ll give you a sampling from his greatest hits.  Please just assume there’s offensive & sexual LANGUAGE!!!!!

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Paramore” the album “All We Know is Falling”

I exercised to “Mark Morton” his only solo album “Anesthetic”

I’ve noticed that with my exercise & paying more attention to what I eat or drink, I’m nowhere near as sick as I used to be.  Before cancer, I was sick about once a month if not more.  Now, after cancer, I get sick maybe once a year.

I’m still about 230 pounds.  Since I’m unable to get rid of my beer belly.  If/when I hit 210, that’s where I should be.  I need to do more cardio!  If I get any lower than 210, I’ll be nothing but “skin & bones”.

Sunday finished with me spilling or dropping everything I touched……………………Should have stayed in bed!

Hello Monday!  Ugh!  Brewster REALLY needs a trim.  Pooped on his pad as he should, then came off his pad, shook & unleashed 5 klingons.  Then proceeded to drag/scratch his butt all over the house.  Had to clean up some warm, smelly, squishy dog poop, & OOH MY IT SMELLED.  Poor little guy.  I could tell he’d been holding it in for that reason.

Just when I think he’s done I came here to the computer, go out, & there’s poop & butt streaks EVERYWHERE.  No I wouldn’t get mad at him over this, he tried & knows he did.  He just REALLY needs a trim.

Between writing this, exercising, having breakfast & lunch, cleaning up after Brewster, tending to the full dishwasher, washing a few dishes, & showering, I didn’t hit the couch until about 3:00 pm.  I was tired & sweaty!

Yesterday Kim was home sick with that awful cold that’s been going around.  So far I’m the only one amongst our immediate family that hasn’t had.  My mother, father, brother, sister-in-law, & now Kim have caught it or currently have it.

Kim’s OK & back at work today.  It’s 9:30 am here & already +24 Celcius in here (+75.2 Fairenhight) it’s only going to get warmer.  Time to open a few windows!

TAYLOR HAWKINS & THE COATTAIL RIDERS

Foo Fighters needed a drummer & Taylor wanted to be in a band.  Foo Fighters grabbed him from Alanis Morisette in 1997 while she was riding high on her album “Jagged Little Pill”.  Dave Grohl reminded him that if he practiced with them that he would have to join Foo Fighters.

Taylor wanted this to be called simply “The Coattail Riders” the label insisted that Taylor Hawkins put his name on it to boost sales.  Since I live in Canada, I had to order the 2 CDs they released each ordered on a release date when CDs were a thing.  The first S/T album is really good the second one was a stinker though.  This was Taylor Hawkins first release while drumming for Foo Fighters.  He had already started his cover band “Chevy Metal” though.  I’ll just give you some stuff from the first release.

2006

Foo Fighters were going to release a song called “Get up I wanna get down” on their 4th album but couldn’t work out the arrangement, this was released 2 years later.  I have no clue if this version sounds anything like the original that wasn’t released?

Music throughout the weekend.

Quiet & uneventful weekend.  Kim was cleaning like crazy.  “Will you eat this?  It expires today” she asks me as she’s cleaning the fridge.  Of course I say “Yeah, sure!”  Mmmm, chocolate milk & vegetables, they don’t really go well together.

Friday night I watched the baseball game, then ‘Friends’ on Netflix until midnight.  Got up shortly after 9:00 am & watched more baseball.

Kim & I went out for a drive in the evening, she needed photos for her photography class.  Drove around the city & couldn’t find a place to photograph what she needed.  Came home, had supper & watched “The Secret Life of Pets”, even funnier with rum & coke in you!

Thought I would have more exciting news, but plans changed.  I hope you all are enjoying your summer!

TREMONTI

Yes, Mark Tremonti former guitarist of “Creed” & current lead guitarist of “Alter Bridge”.  “Tremonti” is his side/solo project.  He classifies his solo project as metal, I find it to be a different form of hard rock, much like Alter Bridge.  Both would be in the same genres, but I really don’t see a genres either group would easily fit into.  Usually what happens with Alter Bridge is that singer, Myles Kennedy, will take off to sing live/record for Slash, Mark Tremonti will do an album & tour with his solo group, where he is the lead singer also.  So far Alter Bridge has released 5 studio albums & a few live albums.  Tremonti has released 4 studio albums to date.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.  New “Into Eternity” song from their upcoming album.  “Pentatonix”, “Into Eternity”, “Dead Sara”, “Foo Fighters”, “Matthew Good Band”, & “Queens of the Stone Age

All of the iTunes & streaming music stuff is true.  Streaming & vinyl will be the only options to get music next year.  This will likely anger musicians depending on the contract they’ve signed with their label.  Just because I think it’s utterly terrible, doesn’t mean you have to!  I just want the option to own my music.  “Here it is, cheap music……………&……………. now you can’t have it!”-Apple.  Can’t beat them join them.  BOOOOOOOOOOOO!  I plan on buying some vinyl but I will stream most of my music.  I really hope this will be a fast fading fad.  I can’t afford a ton of vinyl, 4 or 5 bands I’ll continue to purchase on vinyl, maybe more, but it will depend on finances & other stuff.

Stayed in Friday & watched the Toronto Blue Jays surprisingly beat the N.Y. Yankees!  WOW!!!!  Come July 31st they will “drain the swamp” you may not recognize many players if you follow the Blue Jays.  I think their current Short-Stop, Aledmys Diaz has earned his spot, whenever $20,000,000 Short-Stop Troy Tulowitzki (who has not played any baseball since July 7th, 2017 due to injury) should have to earn his spot on the roster.  If I had the cash I’d give him the $40,000,000 for the next 2 years left on his contract to NOT play with the Blue Jays.  He’s SO not the player he was in 2015 when they got him.

Saturday it was HOT outside.  We went to Sherry & James’ to hang out in their backyard & throw back a few wobbly pops.  Kim & I just couldn’t find a movie we were in the mood to watch.  I still had some of the Netflix TV series “Daredevil” to watch & then we just watched some of “Friends” on Netflix.  Pretty tame Saturday night after leftovers of Spaghetti & meat sauce.

Today should be fairly relaxing.  I made my vegetable juice already, we’ve got hardboiled eggs done too.  Little bit of laundry, maybe bake some fish & watch the final game of a 3 game series of the Yankees in Toronto.

THE TEA PARTY

I’ll tell you right away, I am not an expert when it comes to this Canadian band.  I’m a casual fan though.  This is one of the numerous Canadian bands from the ‘90s that has reunited in the last few years.  I think I’ve seen them twice, probably at a touring festival in Saskatoon & once for sure with the “Matthew Good Band” at the ‘Conexus Arts Center’ way back in the ‘90s or early 2000s.  I only own 5 of their albums on CD.  I purchased them long before iTunes or streaming sites were all the rage.  Apple has classified them as ‘Metal’ in my iTunes.  I would have to disagree with that statement.  Very talented band with a large influence from eastern music.

When I saw them live, there was a lot of me thinking to myself “What’s that instrument?  Or that instrument?  Now they’re switching to that instrument?”  I didn’t know the names or sounds of the instruments, but they all came together to form a familiar song.  I should also mention that they’re a trio.  Bass, drums, & guitar by the lead singer.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “Concrete & Gold, followed by “Trivium” the album “The Sin & the Sentence”

Friday carried on with me watching the Blue Jays first pre-season game & some of the kids, I think, have a chance of making the 25 man roster.  All of that said, it was one game.  I watched the game & Prime Time Sports with Bob McCown.  I only watch the first hour on Fridays to hear the call in hour for other people’s opinion on whatever they want to talk about, or anytime of the week when he announces what the topics will be & who he’ll be talking to.  Kim came home & as usual we watched “The Ellen Degeneres Show” then the Olympics until we went to bed at 10:30 or so.

I missed 3 of my favourite “Winter Olympics” events.  Ski jump, Speed Skating, & Hockey.

Kim got up early Saturday to go out for coffee with Jolene.  Then off to see a medium.  After going to see a Medium she was home at 5:30 pm.  We hung out on the couch, had supper, & watched some of “Friends” on Netflix after “The Legend of 420”.

I don’t use it, but you go ahead.  It is said that it can help cancer patients.  It was never recommended to me, although I know it can be useful.  I personally choose not to use it.

Kim went out this morning for groceries.  I cooked fish yesterday for my lunches during the week.  Made a veggie juice for the week.  We visited my Grandparents for a bit.  My cousin, her husband, & their toddler were there also.

We’ll be hard boiling some eggs & doing laundry.  Just our usual Sunday, getting ready for the week ahead.

Prince was the first musical act I was into, but Michael Jackson was never out of sight.  I saw the video for “Thriller” & was pretty much hooked on him for a long time.  When the album “Dangerous” was released & the video for “Black or White” was released, it was an event in my parents’ house.  Of course there are songs I’m not a huge fan of, but most of his stuff I’ve always enjoyed.

All I own for Michael Jackson is the albums “Dangerous” & 2 “Greatest Hits” albums.  I made an album of 30 songs on iTunes that I’ll listen to all the way through.  “All killer, no filler” – Sum 41.  That album was mostly filler for me.

In Flames, Opeth, & Dream Theater seem to be under constant fire for not being as “heavy” as they once were.  Unless you’re a flat out metal fan, heavy isn’t always necessary

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Nothing But Thieves” the album “Broken Machine”

Finished off Friday by playing 3 games of cribbage with my cousin & her new boyfriend.  Good times!  Kim’s not a cribbage fan, so I finally used the cribbage board I got for Christmas!

Saturday was a busy day!  A guy I haven’t seen since I graduated high school in 1998 came over to visit.  We were on the high school baseball team, sang in the choir & the chamber choir that went to Newfoundland in the summer of ’97.  Nice to catch up.  He’s still into baseball.  So now I’ve got 3 other people to watch baseball with 3 X Chris + Trevor, I know more & more Chris’ as I get older.

He left around or just before 4 pm.  Hannah, Jolene & Corey showed up very shortly after.  The girls went to see “Peter Rabbit”.

Corey brought all of the ingredients for the most unhealthy meal we created in 2002, he made supper, brought beer, & washed dishes.  Then we had 2 medium pizzas to bake, poutine chicken wings, 2 or 3 beer each, & some chips.  Sat on the couch & waited for my dad to pick us up to see “Big Wreck” at Casino Regina for a 20th anniversary show of their first album.  It was fantastic.  There was even an announcement to turn off your cell phone or any other recording device before the opening act hit the stage.  The only negative to the show was that they ended with a “Thornley” song.

Sunday was spent mostly on the couch watching “FRIENDS” on Netflix.  Today is the get ready for the week day.  Kim is doing laundry & hard boiling eggs.  I make a pitcher of blended vegetables & baking fish.

Big Wreck concert review.

I was not legal drinking age when their 1st album came out in 1998.  I saw them in a bar in 1999 at the age of 19 (legal drinking age in Saskatchewan).  They blew me away & I haven’t missed a show of theirs in Regina since.  Without over exaggerating I’ve likely seen them 12-15 times including the recent 3 times I’ve seen them.  From ’99 to 2002 they’d come through Regina 2-4 times a year before they broke up.  Then the lead singer started a band called “Thornley” that released 2 albums the 2nd was released when I was in the hospital.  Corey bought the CD for me while I was in the hospital.  Big Wreck returned with a new album touring through Regina on May 6th, 2012 (my sister-in-law’s birthday) we saw them at The Pump.

Last night we saw (Corey, dad, & I) the 20th anniversary show of their debut album that had 3 or 4 singles all over the radio & 3 videos on Much Music.  I reverted to a 19 year old again, but I knew all of the words this time & quietly sang along.  These 4 songs were/are their popular songs here anyways…

That’s 1 of 4 big concerts for me this year another 20th anniversary show coming up & another one I went to in 2016.  20th anniversary shows make me feel old until I’m their then I revert to 19 or 20 years old again during the show.

So, I could purchase one decent album by Ed Sheeran, or I could buy 1 song from 10 artists I don’t listen too?  I buy albums only!
