The www.youtube.com links are there for a point of reference if you don’t know what I’m talking about.  Read this for what YOU want to know, you don’t need to read the entire thing.

Don’t feel as though you have to open every link.

I fell asleep to “U2” the album “Songs of Experience”

I exercised to “Pink” the album “Beautiful Trauma”

Monday I only did 3 out of 6 exercises, pushups, crunches, & squats.  Tuesday was my birthday aka I did nothing!  On Monday I was still recovering from Saturday.  No hangover, just stayed up too late.  Usually any time after 11:00 pm, is a game of Russian roulette for me.  Everyone left by 11:00 pm, but I stayed up until 12:20 am or so & wrote most of this!

I guess I’m old now & not as cool anymore.  I’m 38 & still feel (in my mind) like I’m 20.  I really don’t miss doing the jobs I did in my teens.  Especially being a “banquet porter” at a hotel.  Longest shift I ever worked was there 14 hours long.  That was a difficult job, strength wise.  All of those weddings, Christmas parties, ethnic nights, meetings, dances, etc.  That’s why I got so tired of hearing “one hit wonders” from the 90s.  Most nights there would be some event & weekends were a guaranty there would be at least 3.  Bartending, serving food, cleaning up & setting up meeting rooms for the next day, putting a banquet room together, all of that I did for far too long 16-20 years of age I’m guessing.  I already had to wear a tuxedo shirt & a bowtie for high school band & choir at school & then at work that night………….by the way, I REALLY don’t like wearing dress clothes.

You’ve probably never thought of who put 500 round tables in here for your supper & this dance floor for afterwards.  I never thought about it either, but it was a team of likely 20 people, & I was one of them.  I’d spend an evening shift going up & down the back hallway & heard this kind of stuff on repeat……..

How many times have you heard the “Macarena”?  Great multiply that by 50 & welcome to my life as a teenager!

I would hear those songs 5 times minimum on a Friday or Saturday night at work.  Then go home & watch “Much Music” & turn it off immediately if they were playing one of those songs.  I can tolerate them, but after the 3rd time it just became ridiculous!

I tried really hard to watch “The Grammy Awards” but it was mostly me thinking “Who’s that?  Why is this the cool thing?  Man, I don’t get the attraction to this music, it’s mostly disposable candy music I’ll forget tomorrow.”

Thank goodness for “Bruno Mars”, “Sting” & “U2”.  If you we’re hoping to see the rock & metal categories, they weren’t aired on the TV broadcast.  Foo Fighters won for best rock song & Mastodon won for best metal performance.

Bruno Mars may sample stuff, but he’s always entertaining!

I think this all points to the fact that I’m not all that hip to what the cool kids are listening to, & that I suddenly became old.

I didn’t see the last 15 minutes of “The Grammy Awards” & I’m pretty sure I didn’t need or want to.  Congratulations to those who were nominated & those who won.  I applaud you’re hard work, I’m just not your demographic for most of you.

Every front man/front woman wants to be Freddie Mercury on stage, but they’re not.  They’re themselves & fans just want honesty, so it works out for everyone.  I wasn’t in an extremely successful band or even a moderately successful band.  I figured, “They paid $5 to see us play, might as well do the best I can!”  If anybody saw us whether it was a free benefit show or if it was a $15 ticket to a Cabaret, they’d better enjoy their evening.

Are you a “Led Zeppelin” fan?  Have you bought the “Greta Van Fleet” album “From the Fires”?  It’s 8 songs that you could easily put on any “Led Zeppelin” album with upbeat tempos.

I made the mistake of watching some of the “State of the Union” speech last night, & I almost……

It doesn’t matter how many beer you have “Tom Sawyer” is one of the 3 radio hits by Rush that has never been enjoyable for me!

Should the Blue Jays have tried harder to get Christian Yelich?  Try?  Who says they went that far?  Anything not regarding Vladimir Guerrero Jr. should have been seriously considered.  The GM & the manager of baseball operations were told not to “blow up” the core players.  So I guess it’s the owner of Roger’s communications who really wants to irk the fans.  So far this has been an absolutely TERRIBLE off season!

http://www.sportsnet.ca/590/sportsnet-hot-stove/blue-jays-tried-harder-get-christian-yelich/

If you’re not a diehard fan of the “Toronto Blue Jays” at this point I’d ask that you please avert your eyes.  This season could be worse than last year.  If you choose to watch you’ll likely be watching mostly old struggling players among a few minor league players to fill other spots.

MESSED UP WEEK

I exercised to “Finger Eleven” the album “Five Crooked Lines”

This week is busier than most for me.  Next week should be back to normal……I hope?!  Not a ton of free time this week, less exercise & less time to blog.  We didn’t go anywhere, Kim took 2 days off.  She pretty much worked at home, tiding her resume for a different position in her office.  Someone is going on maternity leave, Kim’s applying for that spot until whoever it is returns.

If this is what retirement is like, not being able to drive, I’ll pass.  Pretty boring, I’ve watched a lot of Netflix.  Since I was without a computer, but carried on with my exercises.  Without a computer I felt quite out of touch.

Dave Grohl’s mother is releasing a book.  It’s his mom giving him the finger in the video.  He had to teach her how to do it.  Hahahahaha!

WEEKEND UPDATE

I love Friday’s Rock It Out Blog LANGUAGE!!!!!

The Agonist shares it & here it is…..

I think I solved the gun issue in the USA? Take all of the gun owners, have them bring all of their guns. Take them on a trip into the Grand Canyon. Whoever comes out first wins! If some are still alive, bomb the canyon. The USA bombs other countries to keep America safe, I figure it’s fair game……….stupid but it might work? Don’t tell them that the winner will be shot on sight by the FBI or CIA. I think I just solved a HUGE problem & I only have one wobbly pop in my system! Not bad for a stupid Canadian! Just make it like “The Hunger Games Trilogy”. Kill or be killed. Works as a movie, might work in reality? Maybe add a Donald Trump wall around the canyon? There have been no mass shootings in the headlines, this is just how ridiculous the situation has become to me!

Not every American is a gun loving person waiting to snap & go on a killing spree. Canada isn’t perfect either. I can almost guarantee the chances of me being shot, rise substantially if I cross the border to the south. That’s not a chance I necessarily want to take?

We went to my parents place for supper last night. A turkey dinner with mashed potatoes, EW!

Turkey and potatoes can cause me to gag, ham, turnips, & buns I’m good. 3 turkeys left in my mother’s freezer EW! She did make a ham last night, dad’s not a turkey fan either. I just passed on the potatoes, literally. Kim past the potatoes right past me to my mom. Potatoes for me are every bit as gross as olives. If it’s mashed, boiled or baked potatoes, there’s not enough gravy in the world for me to put on them!

The new I Mother Earth single. I’m going to wait until Friday to get it on iTunes.

I would think most singers enjoy Freddie Mercury!!!

http://loudwire.com/judas-priest-rob-halford-on-freddie-mercury-still-inspiration-to-me/

To quote Adam Lambert when I saw him with Queen introducing this song “This is for all of you fat ass bitches out there” I’d never even pretend I could get away with that.

Yep, this was pretty good on Friday’s Jimmy Fallon!
