Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer? Ask if you do!
Music from this weekend! “Coheed & Cambria”, “Boston”, “Big Wreck”, “The Struts”.
We left Saturday morning for Thanksgiving with Kim’s family. I tried not to overeat, but Kim’s mom is a caterer/chef aka lots of sugary goodness! We had Thanksgiving at her aunt’s place again this year Saturday for supper. Went to Kim’s parents’ house that night. First time I’ve been inside their house since 2007. Brewster liked being there too!
We went back to Kim’s aunt’s place on Sunday, for some pie & other goodies. Too much of a good thing (lots of sugar that my body isn’t used to, but I can’t complain)! We drove back to Regina after visiting her aunt’s place.
Today I went to the Roughrider game to see the visiting Edmonton Eskimos against the home town Riders. The Riders won……………….ugly though! The final score was 17-12?
MOVIES
Yes, we have a large collection of blu-rays & DVDs here. TV series & movies. With all of the TV shows back on this fall, & nothing good on TV but “The Ellen Degeneres Show” on during the day, which I record & watch with Kim ASAP when she gets home. It will take me 5 days to watch a movie. Currently I just finished watching “Deadpool 2” for the 3rd time at home & 1 time in the theater. I’ve watched more than a few movies multiple times. Mostly cartoons & comedies.
Deadpool 2
LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Star Wars Episode 7 & 8
TROLLS
FINDING NEMO & FINDING DORY
Our blu-ray of the original “Deadpool” is currently lent to Sherry & James. I’ve watched at least 15 times.
Many other movies & concert shows.
The more you share this, the more readers I get. No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.
Why did this become a music blog? “Because music is a BIG @#! $ %^*&( DEAL”-Dave Grohl
“I feel good about the good things, & bad about the bad things”-Dave Grohl
“Learn from your mistakes & don’t repeat them”-Chris
More people read this when YOU share it, otherwise it will hit 70-150 views on Facebook? It was viewed 296 times when 3 people shared it. If you like it, please share it? If you don’t, someone else might like it? Please share it?
Don’t feel as though you have to click on every link.
Friday night we had a birthday party for a Cabbage Patch kid. We were babysitting for friends, their daughter of 3 years old. Pizza, birthday cake, & I had some leftover veggies. REALLY Kim? Vegetables with pizza???? Since when do you have pizza with a side of broccoli?????? I don’t think a few pieces of broccoli cancel the effects of pizza & birthday cake, nice try though!
After we heard the “Frozen” soundtrack, we watched “Paw Patrol” & “Rainbow Rock”. “Rainbow Rock” was my child metal for the evening, she knew the words to most of the songs & chimed in a bit before the cartoon started singing the lyrics!
“Paw Patrol” might be my new favourite show!
Saturday afternoon, Mitch & Rachel came over to watch the concert DVD I got a little while ago by “In Flames”. I got it through amazon.ca. My mother ordered it since she has next day shipping. It was a month late since it wasn’t released in North America. It was shipped from Germany & had would only play on European made players. The Blu-ray had the regional restrictions on amazon, the DVD didn’t though. Fortunately my dad had a non-regionally restricted DVD player sitting around so I could watch it.
Saturday night, leftovers, couch & we rented “Finding Dory”.
This sciatic nerve crap should be gone by now, but NO. When you wake up around 3:00 am, can’t get comfortable & fall asleep until around 5:00 am, you know it’s still a problem! It’s a dull pain, then a brief sharp pain when I move my leg. “In the end” it’s more of an annoyance than anything. It’s preventing me from doing EVERYTHING! I’d really like to do my exercise, said no one ever, but it’s painful to even try doing them. It’s getting far beyond ridiculous!
That’s quite the list of celebrities for a protest! It’s already working, I’m talking about it, so it is working.
I fell asleep to “Nothing but Thieves” the self-titled debut album. This is a FANTASTIC album! You can hear a Jeff Buckley & Radiohead influence in it.
If you’re following the blog on my personal Facebook page, could you please follow it on the link above? Just for me to keep track of subscribers.
This is for anyone & everyone who might find this interesting! Please help me out if you don’t mind? I’ve been sharing this publically on my page, I don’t think it’s helping? Please do what you can to spread the word?
I don’t follow politics……….EVER! I was watching CBC, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the National news. They were reporting on Donald Trump’s Republican Convention, I changed the channel to watch that instead. I haven’t watched any of the debates for more than 5 minutes. I watched the majority of this one though. I couldn’t stop laughing! I was even lol! My goodness he’s entertaining & scary at the same time. The entire speech was like watching a terrorist threaten another terrorist. I honestly couldn’t stop laughing! I watched it until the end & realized a couple of things. A) I should have been watching the campaign from the start just for the entertainment value! B) If he wins, it’ll be scary & the USA will be a gated community. Nobody’s coming from the Southern Boarder, the East Coast, China or Russia aren’t coming from the West Coast, & us Canadians will build a wall on our Southern Boarder & send the bill to the USA.
Friday was more of me trying to be comfortable with a screwed up back. I didn’t go to the football game. I don’t think it would have done any good sitting on a wooden bench for that amount of time. We babysat our friends kid, who politely told me where to go & how to get there! Kim was painting with her. Kim was painting a person flying a kite. I said we should blow to make some wind for “auntie” Kim, man was I wrong. “UNCLE CHRIS WE DON’T BLOW WIND, WE PAINT IT!!!” aka she told me in the most polite way where to go & how to get there, finger pointing & all.
So at the end of the day, I slept on the couch again, while Kim slept in our bed with someone else, a 2 ½ year old and I’m not sure if I’ll be invited to her 3rd birthday party.
Saturday was my aunts memorial in Regina. The family left the chapel to “Spirit in the Sky” I had finished my crying a week ago, I was OK. My mother did the eulogy at the service for her older sister, she of course choked up, then I choked up a bit too. The entire ceremony actually felt like a celebration. I’ve never felt that at a memorial/funeral? My aunt was really cool & fun to be around, & that’s exactly what I’ll remember about her!
Back to my parents place for a very excessive amount of food and whatever you brought for alcohol. I left with a food baby……and 1 beer……………….a 2 liter bottle of beer. It’s pretty rare to see your mother, uncle & cousins do a shot of tequila at the front of a chapel during a memorial, but I know that’s what my aunt would have wanted!
Now it’s Sunday & I have baseball to watch. Yes my back I still sore. I’ll finish this later.
I’d like to know if Jordan Cook aka Reignwolf will ever release a full album? I don’t buy singles unless there are 10 or more to make an album.
So Maynard James Keenan, Tool singer, is heading out on his book tour. This tells me another year passes & no Tool album until 2017? LANGUAGE!!!!!
Songs for a campaign. Instead of using a song by famous musicians without their approval. Maybe politicians should use songs from the public domain? Nursery rhymes, happy birthday, the National Anthem, etc.
I fell asleep to a few songs by “Stitched Up Heart” the album “Never Alone” then changed it to “Trivium” the album “Silence in the Snow”
I exercised to “Alice in Chains” half of the album “Facelift” then “Chromeo” half of the album “White Women”, then finally “Finger Eleven” most of the album “Five Crooked Lines”
Finally! Nothing hurt this morning. I raised my squats total today, hopefully I can achieve that total tomorrow.
Nobody likes feeling sick, neither do I! I don’t have time to be sick! Just a waste of a day for me!
Yes, I squeezed in a small exercise session, just not as many repetitions, sorry, I don’t remember what I was listening to on the stereo? Probably the “Stitched Up Heart” album?
I was watching the “Batman vs. Superman” movie & this is a dark movie. This isn’t just any stand alone Superman or Batman movie. I haven’t seen the “Kill Bill” or “Sin City” movies. This is by far the darkest comic book movie I’ve seen. Henry Cavill plays the role of Superman again, his parents are the same, Amy Adams is back also. I don’t recommend it for anyone under 18. I’d say it’s a Rated R movie, well the “Ultimate Edition” is, the non theatrical version I bought which also has the theatrical version. I like it, but that’s just me. It was slammed by critics, & wasn’t rated as a good movie by others on iTunes. I like it though. I’d give it 81% tomatoes on iTunes. You can rent it on July 19th. This is the “Ultimate Edition” trailer
It’s not hump day for Canadians, it’s only a 4 day week here. Friday, July 1st is Canada Day. I’m not checking but I think Canada is turning 149 or 150 this year?
Soundgarden shared it…
I love “Lamb of God”, let’s see how www.loudwire.com ranks their albums?
2 movies in theaters I really want to see. “Finding Dory” & “The Shallows”
Masterpiece review off the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic” courtesy of the Consequence of Sound. I have this on CD, not on my iTunes though. I haven’t listened to it since the early 2000s.
“Taking Back Sunday” new album & video. I’ve only heard the name?
Joe Perry, Aerosmith guitarist, teams up with Monster. I used Monster Cable for everything. Recording, live shows, & most stuff at home. All from my father aka 1-800-George!

Afternoon baseball today! There was a 2 hour & 40 minute Halestorm delay last night in Colorado. They started the game as I was going to bed???
I fell asleep to “ Stitched Up Heart” the debut album that I got last night at 12:00 am Eastern Time “Never Alone”
Falling asleep to an album isn’t the best way to hear or judge it. What I’ve heard I like & of course I’ll listen to it multiple times. It could be one of those albums I end up binge listening to?
I exercised to “Iron Maiden” the album “The Book of Souls”
Exercise total for the week ;7500 crunches, 710 leg lifts, 300 squats, & 250 push ups.
Everything stayed the same this week other than the leg lifts. They went up, then down, & I finally settled on 140 a day. I’ll stay at this plateau for a while. When they seem to easy to do, I’ll likely ad some yoga into the mix?
When I die, multiple decades in the future hopefully, please don’t remember me as “that guy who got cancer when he was 28”? Call me anything but that please, hero & victim don’t ever have to be in the conversation either?
When I was a kid, life was so simple. Recess, candy, colouring books, paint, even in University Rydell & I both thought we’d grow up, get a job & buy a new guitar once a month? Life’s not like that at all! Bills, mortgage payments, most people have kids, work or shift work, etc. As a kid I always thought “Ooo, I can’t wait to grow up & be filthy rich”. It so didn’t turn out that way!
Don’t get me wrong, life is great but in a different way! I get to live with my wonderful wife, I can watch baseball in my underwear (I did that at my parents house too), I can drink alcohol, coffee in the morning etc. It’s great, it’s different but it’s really good!
I was usually home from a day of work, in my underwear, drinking a beer & my younger brother, Mitch, would come home with a friend of his. Most of his friends met me that way. Beer, underwear, & reading an article on the computer in the living room in the basement. I think he got mad at me once & yelled at me once after someone had left? “CHRIS, WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS IN YOUR UNDERWEAR WITH A BEER WHEN I BRING SOMEONE OVER???” That’s just how I roll, I wasn’t going to put on a three piece suit just because my brother was coming home, he’s lucky I was wearing anything at all?
Now it’s just baseball on the TV maybe pants & alcohol during the weekend games or water & carrots or grapes?
Last night we went out for supper with Sherry & James. Left the now buzzed Brewster in their place since he makes too much noise & freak out when he’s here alone
I guess Lzzy Hale got a Metal Hammer Golden God award.
“I’m still flying high from last nights Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards! It was such an honor to perform and I am so humbled to be the first female to win the “Dimebag Darrell Shredder Of The Year” award. Thank you so much to everyone for your vote, and to all my fellow musicians and nominees for making me feel like the little sister of the rock and metal community.
Dimebag, even though you’ve left us, your legend lives on through those you touched along your journey. You continue inspire me to be the best guitarist I can be, and hold on to what makes me unique, because that’s how you lived your life. You were fiercely honest and unapologetic, which is the definition of Metal. This is why, alongside Lemmy and Dio, you are forever a golden god. I will treasure this award forever and I look forward to feeling your presence over my shoulder next time I go over my scales. Speaking of which… Time to go practice!!”
James Hetfield of Metallica is lending his voice to a series on Netflix
Still a few more albums to look forward to this year. Chevelle in July, Opeth & Alter Bridge in September or later this year, & maybe Third Ion & Into Eternity, then whatever other surprises show up?
Ellen proves if you’re a squeaky wheel, you’ll get the grease!
What Metallica drummer, Lars Ulrich, says the new album will sound like. Take this with a grain of salt. There’s a good chance he’ll say something completely different next week.
I fell asleep to “Andy McKee” the album “Dream Catcher” after listening to the brand new live album from “Barenaked Ladies”. I preordered it & got it last night “Live at Red Rocks”
Everything from Andy McKee is acoustic & instrumental. This is the only cover song I have of his.
I exercised to “Alice Cooper” his “Greatest Hits” then about half of “Anthrax” the latest album “For All Kings”
Monday is a Holiday! So I’ll post the weekend update on Monday evening.
Exercise total for the week; 6000 crunches, 320 leg lifts, & 160 squats.
The squats are one of the most difficult exercises I do. My legs have very little muscle, if I’m not holding something, I’ll fall. I do my squats while keeping my balance with my sliding up & down my transfer pole. I don’t use any force or grab the pole to help me. It’s just there for balance.
I didn’t expect/want the world to stop when I got sick, & it didn’t which is a great thing, everything “carried on” as it should. Having an experience with cancer is something I would never wish on ANYONE. Not everyone reacts the same to someone having cancer. I get that.
Joe Walsh’s, Eagles & solo artist, life in 15 songs. He also deserves an award for best title for a Greatest Hits album “Look What I Did”
“I think ‘Down On The Upside’ is the crowning achievement of Soundgarden’s life cycle. We faced our biggest challenge, which was following up a monster” – Chris Cornell, Revolver 2006
Flashback to U2’s Pop Mart tour. I’ve always wanted to see the VHS or now DVD they recorded of one of the shows on this tour.
Lunch with Billy Joel……………………………………………………………at volume 11. Which reminds me I should check if my parents have watched “Trainwreck” yet?
Ellen Degeneres with Jonny Depp. Earliest Ellen’s on TV here is 2:00pm at the moment. That’s fine since it records so I can watch it with Kim once she’s done work.
