I fell asleep to “Black Sabbath” the album “Black Sabbath” followed by “Foo Fighters the album I recorded from the radio station when I was 20 “Live from Montreal 2000” followed by “Greta Van Fleet” their only album “From the Fires” X 2, “Devin Townsend Project” the album “Transcendence” & finally “In Flames” the album “Sounds of a Playground”

Yeah, I was wide awake until 3:15 am, despite going to bed a 10:15 pm.  My mind was racing.  Anything I could pretend to stress about, I did so.  Why?  I don’t know.

I exercised to “Stone Sour” the album “Hydrograd”

Weekly exercise total for a 5 day week.  750 pushups, 500 crunches, 540 leg lifts, 250 squats, 540 triceps pushups, & 200 back flexes.  I was playing with the numbers this week.

Yes, every morning starts with me doing exercise, even over the holidays I just did 3 of my exercise, & stopped for a few days.  I’ve been back to 6 & 2 mystery exercises I’ll tell you about near the end of the year.

When Kim came home on Wednesday she brought up the mail.  Behold another 3 months of a prescription (from my family doctor who also was one of my doctors during my entire cancer scare) for low level in my Thyroid.  One day I just want to be a “normal” or as close to a “normal” person.  Just one day, without having to take pills.  I’m OK with my wheelchair for now & I’m fine with having an iPatch.

I guess I’m getting older, I’ll be 38 next week.  I’ve been taking medication for EVERYTHING & I’m just tired of doing that but I know that’s something I NEED to do.  I’ll be done my anti-biotics, for an apparent bladder infection, on the weekend.  Likely tomorrow I’ll start 3 months of pills for my Thyroid.  Those pills better help me lose weight!!!!

On the upside I’ve added 6 or 10 T-Shirts that fit me now this week.  There’s my “Opeth” shirt that I could wear if I wanted to show my belly off.  I believe it has shrunk in length A LOT.

Now I have a 4th concert I don’t want to miss, my brother will see it too.  No date, but they mentioned coming to Regina.  Finger Eleven & I Mother Earth.  Hopefully it’s on a weekend but if it’s not, I’ll be there with my younger but bigger brother.  They mention other nooks & crannies across Canada as well.  Worst case scenario, we’ll have to go to Saskatoon (I’m sick of that boring drive, 2.5 hours but it feels like 8 hours) bigger venue there though.

I think this is the 20th anniversary of Finger Eleven’s debut album?  My brother is a huge fan of both bands.  I love I Mother Earth, & I like Finger Eleven.

With “Slayer” retiring I’d throw “Trivium” or “Lamb of God” into the big 4

Yep, I bought the new “Fall Out Boy” album.  I’ll review it on the “Weekend Update” post.

Wow, some people are dumb!  It’s called a “Wall of Death”, sure that’s a great place for a baby?????????????????!!!!!!

Seth Myers interview with Saturday Night Live Weekend Update hosts Colin Jost & Michael Che.

When “Slayer” retires, Kerry King should learn to solo in key!  There’s 1 added to the list, actually at the top of his list!

Elton John has said he’s doing a farewell tour, but said he’ll possibly be recording?

Do yourself a favour if you like “Lynyrd Skynyrd” & “Led Zeppelin” by checking out.

“Greta Van Fleet” their debut album of 8 songs released in November!

I bought this on Thursday & I can’t stop listening to it.  The singer, at times, sounds just like Robert Plant of “Led Zeppelin” & depending on the song the band sounds as though “Led Zeppelin” & “Lynyrd Skynyrd” had a baby.  There’s your review for that album since it only has 8 songs on it

The more you share this, the more readers I get.  No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.  I can’t tell who’s reading this but thank you!

I fell asleep to “Corrosion of Conformity” album “No Cross No Crown, followed by “Kelly Clarkson” the album “Meaning of Life”, followed by “Chevelle” the album “Sci-Fi Crimes” & finally “I Mother Earth” the album “Dig”.  Takes me a while to fall asleep, unlike Kim she falls asleep about 15 seconds after she hits the bed.

I exercised to “Fall Out Boy” the album “M A N I A “, followed by “Halestorm” the album “Live in Philadelphia”.

150 pushups a day should count as cardio.  My heart beat goes through the roof & I’m out of breath.  I roll onto my side just to catch my breath!

I always ask myself this question.  When I was diagnosed with brain cancer was God testing me or was the Devil trying to kill me?  Much like the extreme black metal bands in Norway.  Why burn down a church because Christianity is forced upon them?  You can’t kill religion, as far as I know?  I’m religious but I don’t go to church.  Does that make me a bad person?  I don’t think so.

Does listening to hard rock & metal make me a bad person?  I don’t think so.  Why do I listen to mostly rock/metal?  Mainly because of the music.  When I go to a rock/metal concert I know I won’t be judged.  It’s a small niche market where outsiders tend to go.

All through high school I didn’t fit in with any group.  I hung out with 3 other guys & the 4 of us didn’t really fit in with any other group.  We were the self-named nothings.  That was OK with me.  Timothy Wong & I also hung out with Fay & Jan.  Those 2 groups made me feel accepted.  They’re all great people.  Timothy & I have been really good friends since grade 9.  Fay and I have known each other since kindergarten.  Fay introduced Tim & I to Jan early on in high school (probably grade 8 or 9).  I hung out with people who didn’t judge me. Tim, John, Guy, Jan, & Fay.

Members of “Tool” say they don’t put their music on digital platforms because it would be too easy for the consumer to manipulate the files to only the songs they want to hear.  That’s weird, I can do that with all of the “Tool” albums I have on CD.  Everybody is streaming or downloading music now.  Does this mean “Tool” will make the jump to releasing their next album on digital platforms, streaming sites & iTunes?  Will it be a CD/vinyl because of the artwork & import it to iTunes?

Looks like “Slayer” is done also.

Unfortunately I’m not a big Slayer fan.  I’d be there for Lamb of God & Anthrax

Neil Diamond is retiring too.  Seems like out with the old & in with the new.  “Rush”, “Slayer”, & “Neil Diamond”.

Toronto Blue Jays short stop is 33 years old now.  He’ll make $20,000,000 this year & next year.  2020 & 2021 he’ll make $14,000,000 & $15,000,000.  The young (19 years old) short stop in AAA ball will be ready in the middle of 2019.  If they can’t move Tulowitzki’s contract, platoon them at short stop.

Josh Donaldson (32 years old) the third baseman has 1 year at $23,000,000.  I’d sign him for the 2019 season, maybe the 2020 & 2021 season if he agrees to play first base or another position in 2020.  They have another Top 10 prospect in the AAA system who should be ready in the middle of 2019, might as well platoon them as well or move Donaldson to first base.  It’s not my money, so it could be a pipe dream?

600 pushups, 500 leg lifts & 225 triceps pushups!  Crunches & Back flexes will be thrown into the mix on January 2nd.  120 pushups, 100 leg lifts, 100 crunches, 45 triceps pushups, & 40 back flexes a day, 5 days a week.

I can’t really make a top 10, there were a TON of AWESOME albums released this year.  Singles, live albums, Greatest Hits & EPs don’t count.  So here they are, & after the first 2, everything is pretty much tied for 3rd.  It’s only a top 10 list with other albums below that didn’t quite make the cut.

After this, I’ll catch you January 1st, with a holiday update.

  1. Kelly Clarkson – Meaning of Life. Her 7th studio album, not including her Christmas album.

  1. Halflives – Empty Rooms. Their first album.

  1. Trivium – The Sin & the Sentence. Their 8th studio album

  1. Ed Sheeran – Divide. His 3rd studio album

  1. Royal Blood – How Did We Get so Dark? Their 2nd studio album

  1. Queens of the Stone Age – Villains. Their 7th studio album

  1. Big Wreck – Grace Street. Their 5th studio album.

  1. Foo Fighters – Concrete & Gold. Their 9th studio album.  Once I got past the over production on the album, I REALLY enjoy this album

  1. Paramore – After Laughter. Paramore’s 5th album

  1. Nothing but Thieves – Broken Machine. This was their second release & much like the first release, it’s my favourite album of the year.

Stone Sour – Hydrograd.  I’m just hooked on their 2nd, 3rd, & 4th album.  This is album number 6 for them.

Alter Bridge – B-Sides & Rarities w/ a double album Live at the 02 Arena

In Flames – Down, Wicked, & No Good 4 song EP of cover songs

Yes, Chris Izsak’s hit from the ‘90s

Ascot Royals – New Skin EP.  They opened for Big Wreck in February

The Watchmen – Live & in Stereo.  21 live songs from a show in Winnipeg (their home town) at The Burton Comings Theater.

Pentatonix – 4 EP.  They’re 7 cover songs on the EP done by the A Capella group.

It also has a cover of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” but it’s just OK.

Barenaked Ladies – Fake Nudes.  An album released November 17th that will likely grow on me.

Alice Cooper – Paranormal.  Good album that was just missing something for me?  I can see this growing on me too

Linkin Park – One More Light

Muse – Dig Down Single

Jack Johnson – All the Light Above it Too

Prophets of Rage – Self-titled.  A bit too much on the rap side for me, but not bad.

I have a short list of albums to purchase from 2017.

Pink – Beautiful Trauma

U2 – Songs of Experience

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Who Built the Moon?

The Devin Townsend Project – Transcendence

I’ve already checked out a few that aren’t listed here & didn’t make the cut.

7 albums to be released in 2018 I’ll check purchase from iTunes if I like them.

Myles Kennedy – Year of the Tiger

A Perfect Circle – TBA

Corrosion of Conformity – No Cross No Crown

Fall Out Boy – MANIA

Halestorm – TBA

Dream Theater – Into the Great Divide

Tremonti – TBA

Merry Christmas!

Happy Holidays!

Enjoy some time off of work!

This felt like a very long week.  I was thinking Wednesday was Friday, man was I wrong!

I fell asleep to “Royal Blood” their debut self-titled album, then “Nothing but Thieves” then “In Flames” the live album “The Tokyo Showdown”  I kept waking up throughout the night, just listening to “In Flames” the album “Siren Charms”, then finally “Sounds of a Playground Fading”

LANGUAGE IN A FEW OF THESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I exercised to “Chevelle” the album “The North Corridor”, too short for my exercise.  I then put on “Lamb of God” the album “Sturm und Drang”

The numbers are a bit off this week.  I was trying out a few things but I’ve got it now. 7500 crunches, 490 squats, 390 pushups, 350 leg lifts

100 squats, 1500 crunches, 70 leg lifts & 80 pushups every day, 5 days a week.  I’d like to see 150 pushups a day. It may take a while but I’ll get there eventually.

I alternate the leg lifts.  3 days of 70 leg lifts on my back & 2 days of 70 leg lifts on my hands and knees.  Then I’ll switch it the next week to 3 days on my hands & knees, then 2 days on my back.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.  Does anyone ever talk to their own Doctor or does everyone trust celebrities more?  What does Jenny McCarthy think of vaccinations?  What does Dr. Oz think about this pill?….etc.  If the celebrities you trust all held hands and jumped off of a tall bridge, would you?

Walk off the Earth have made 13 singles/cover songs.  I put them all on 1 album on my iPod!

Big Wreck shared it….

I miss Foo Fighters & Queens of the Stone Age

I should listen to this stuff more often.

In Flames live…..

New band alert “Seasons After”.  I’m not preordering this.  I’m going to wait for it’s full release & make my decision then, since I’ve never heard of them.

I guess they have 2 full length albums out on iTunes?  If I’m not sure about purchasing an album on iTunes, I’ll either let it simmer for a while, ask my brother what he thinks or check out a band on Apple Music.

OK, let me explain the “Sum 41” preorder.  On their last album they didn’t play watered down punk music for the masses.  It was more of a hard rock album.  The single from the upcoming release sounds like more of a hard rock sound also.

Pentatonix & Dolly Parton sing the song “Jolene”

Alter Bridge “Show me a Leader” acoustic

From “Fall Out Boy”

“Growing up the things that informed my life and me the most were experiential. These were the moments that you could live inside. I remember there was a summer where guns n’ roses, terminator 2 and slalom water skiing all met up in my head. It was relentless in the way I thought about them and the way they commingled with each other. I can remember that summer and still in some ways go back and live inside of it because of the way it was so experiential and transformative for me. There is a texture to it. Like pop culture was curated by some force that summer for me personally… BLOOM is meant to be an experiential idea- one that started as a conversation between us and bobby hundreds… just an idea. then it became a short film about how you can empower yourself, how falling/failing can make you stronger… but that conversation became bigger and we realized that we could create a film, stage uniforms, stage look, show design, and merchandise and have them all inform each other. So that we could make a moment that would be different than all the moments before it and after it- that you could take with you as a texture. In so many ways it is amazing the dialogue we can have and the art we can create and share with each other now. I love seeing the fan art from to shows and movies I love… it’s that conversation that wasn’t truly possible in that summer to me- that’s what I appreciate most about now. So if you are reading this, you are part of BLOOM.

Sometimes you have to crack the pavement before you can BLOOM.

I’d have to go with “Alter Bridge”

This is for anyone & everyone who might find this interesting! Please help me out if you don’t mind? I’ve been sharing this publically on my page, I don’t think it’s helping? Please do what you can to spread the word?

Still Tuesday July 26th. Just returned from the chiropractor. I actually cracked this time, last time I didn’t. Baseball & an ice pack & we’ll see how I feel in the morning? There likely wont be an exercise total this week or early on next week unless I wake up & feel great.

Wednesday morning much better back! Some stretching & ice, and I hope to be in my exercise routine by the beginning of next week!

My back muscles get tight over night of course, when I get up it’s not pleasant. After dooing multiple stretches & applying ice, it feels remarkably better, almost no pain at all.

On this day, Thursday, July 26th, 2012 I was released from the Wascana Rehabilitation Center & I haven’t returned since. I’d like to visit, but I can’t drive & Kim’s working full time.

Sorry, I just write a lot.

I REALLY liked my job as a printing press operator. The most difficult thing to deal with was getting the paper feeder set up properly. You could have identical press’ side by side & they wouldn’t work the same. I was young & still learning when I started there, around 23 I’d guess? I got cancer 6 days after my 28th birthday. I was thrown in & everyone expected a TON from me. When Sherry Stewart & I were working the same shift, I’d mentally race to keep up or try to pass her in setting up a job on a press. She is really good at her job & was always a step ahead of me. I kind of miss running a printing press. If I could go back to Impact Printers I would in a heart beat.

I didn’t seek out to be a printer, I fell into it accidentally I had no clue what I wanted to do. I grabbed a calender from SIAST & thought the Graphic Arts Production program looked interesting. Even when I first got there I thought I’d take desktop computer designing….boy was I wrong after my first semester I chose to going into the production side of things. I liked it, since I didn’t have to deal with clients for the most part. When I did have to deal with a client I was fine, not always what I wanted to do, but not a big deal.

When iPods came out, I’d pop in 1 ear bud, listen to the press & go about my day. Most print shops, at least the ones I worked at, nobody running a press wanted to stop for lunch or coffee. Once it’s running well you don’t want to interrupt a press. If it’s not going well, you have work to do/figure out the problem.

This happened on July 26th 2004. A guitarist doing his job, playing live & shot by a fan.

This wasn’t the group he was with at the time. This is the group he is most known for.

Tuesday, July 26th 2016 is the official day that Big Wreck started recording their 5th full length studio album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is up for some award as rock song of the year? I like Fall Out Boy, but I’ve always thought of them as a pop band, not a rock band?

I had no clue “Smash Mouth” was still around. Can’t say I’ve ever been a fan.

There are many famous groups I don’t listen to, since I’m not a fan of their music. I’m sorry if I don’t like your favourite band or solo act. It would be a pretty boring world if everybody liked the same stuff. Out of all of the bands/musicians I don’t listen to. If I had to choose one it would be Metallica. If you don’t have the same taste in music, that’s fine by me.

What’s new with the “Manson family”?

I have no albums coming to me until October 7th then 2 are released that day.

The only 2 things I can think of that might pop up in the next 2 months music wise for me is “The Pretty Reckless” & “Into Eternity”? I’ve got the single from “The Pretty Reckless” but no release date. I know “Into Eternity” has an album recorded, it’s not released yet though. “Tool”, I’m just not holding my breath for it will be released whenever & myself and other “Tool” fans will rejoice!

Good news for Guns n’ Roses fans. No end date for the “reunion” tour.

Quiet/boring week here. I actually miss exercising? It keeps me busy along with writing a blog everyday. I’ve been watching movies over & over again, & “Stranger Things” on Netflix. Of course a ton of music as well. Stretching my back & applying ice to it.

This is what I’ve been listening to throughout the week…………..

Sure, there are people out there driving differently than you. I’ve been told not to waste my time & energy & I always ask myself first “Will this matter in 20 years?”. The answer is NO! 99.99% of the time, so it’s quite rare that I get angry about stuff.

If I’m a passenger in someone’s vehicle, why are you ranting & raving to me about the so called idiot driving near us? I can’t fix it? Talk to them tell them how you’d like them to drive. What’s the point of getting angry at me & why do I need to hear it? Are you willing to take driving suggestions from them? If not, your passengers don’t need to hear you having a hissy fit over someone that cut you off, drives too fast or too slow, etc. What the heck did I do & why are you complaining to me? I CAN’T FIX IT!!! FIGURE IT OUT, I DON’T NEED /WANT TO HEAR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I fell asleep to “Zac Brown Band” the album “Jekyll + Hyde” after listening to “The Tea Party” the album “Edges of Twilight”

I exercised to “Led Zeppelin” all of the studio albums & my 3 disc box set on shuffle, didn’t hear my favourite songs though. I did hear their biggest hit though “Stairway to Heaven”, good song I just find it overrated, I still like it though.

Here’s “Stairway to Heaven” for those who don’t know it?

Yes I like pop, rap, hip hop, jazz, some country, but mostly rock & metal. I only know of one person in my life that listens to metal & nothing else. I can’t do that, after a while it’s like “OK, stop screaming at me!” Variety is the spice of life? Take almost everything in small doses? That’s how I take my music. I don’t purchase rap or country music since I know it would be a waste of money since I’d rarely listen to it. Just not my go to music. As long as the individuals enjoy what they’re doing, that’s good enough for me! I don’t have to like it or buy it!

Look at that! The Toronto Blue Jays’ bats sort of woke up last night. It’s like they rolled over & said “5 more minutes mom” as they won 7-2 against the NY Yankees. I think that’s the first time they’ve scored more than 3 runs in a game? They’re only 9 games into the season though 151 games to go!
