I was thinking to myself the other day. I must have been “The Best of What’s Around” for a third baseman when I played baseball. If you’re a back catcher, 2nd baseman, short stop or center fielder, hitting is a bonus, defense is usually the priority at those positions. If you’re plying any spot other then the ones mentioned or pitcher, you had better be able to hit. I couldn’t hit at all. Every game though I’d show up & look at the lineup for the game & 99% of the time it was Chris Fraser batting 9th, playing 3B.

I don’t know how good I was, but I wasn’t ever afraid of the ball. If the ball was hit in my direction, I’d attack it, like I was taught to. As long as it didn’t get passed me I was satisfied! I don’t remember ever diving for a ball, I did throw to 1B on the run though.

Knowing who was at bat always helped, more so knowing their batting tendencies & where the ball would be hit. I remember the lead off hitter for the Moose Jaw team would almost always hit a ground ball to me. Usually it was a guaranteed out. Bounce 2 or 3 times, smother the ball & toss him out at first base, roughly 127′ away.

I know exactly why people get bored watching baseball. It’s a physical reaction every pitch to the chess game going on in a players head. Everybody on defense has somewhere to be no matter where the ball is hit. When a hitter comes to the plate, you should be thinking of 8-10 different possibilities, and they change with each pitch.

The hitter & runner are thinking through different scenarios as well with each pitch. When I sit down to watch a ball game, I think along with the players. That’s why I watch as much Blue Jays baseball as possible!

METAL FANS/BAND MEMBERS

If you’re getting this on facebook, please like & share it?

Give the site a moment to load all of the links. It takes a bit for my computer & it crashes on Kim’s cell.

Metal fans get a bad reputation because of the music we like. Not every metal fan or band member is a flat out metal head though. The metal musicians and fans are some of the kindest people I’ve met. I’m in a wheelchair. When I go to The Exchange to see a local metal band play, TONS of people stop & say hello, shake my hand, chat for a bit, help me out if needed, hold open a door, etc. Nobody goes out of their way to be harmful to anyone. There’s a bad seed in every crowd so I don’t necessarily hang around those people. The people I know that play or listen to aggressive music won’t judge you on what you listen to for music. They know others can instantly judge them by their metal music. I’m not afraid to tell anyone what I listen to. Here’s a few examples of what I listen to….

It’s subjective. A song does not have an influence as to who you are! You like it because you like it, so why hide it? The only music fans I’ve met who don’t consider their music offensive are country music fans. It doesn’t bother me, I do enjoy a small sampling of country music here & there. It’s a lot like extremely heavy metal. Good for a bit, but not for more than one album a day. Slayer is as offensive as a Southern twang country artist to me! Kim was listening to “The Help” audio book on the way to who knows where, too much twang for me. I’m not trying to rattle anyone’s cage in particular, these are just off the top of my head examples……

I did it! I watched “Silence of the Lambs” with Kim. I put on my big boy pants, sucked it up & just asked Kim to hold me when I got scared. I haven’t watched that movie in over a decade. It’s not that freaky of a movie, but when they show Anthony Hopkins in a straight jacket & the brown muzzle/mask, I pee a little then curl up into the fetal position. Anything with Anthony Hopkins in it gives me the HEEBIE JEEBIES now! Blue Jays play a late game tonight. I’ll likely sit through a sequel, then watch the game?

I’ll tell you right off the bat, I DON’T VOTE OR FOLLOW POLITICS OR & here’s why. I get a kick out of watching greasy scum bags doing commercials to “help” their campaign by telling you the opposition can’t do this or that. Whoever’s commercial it is will promise you the moon though. I have 0 desire to sift through the nonsense & ballyhoo as to who I’d vote for. When politicians can honestly tell me how & what they can do then I’ll consider voting? Here’s 2 examples of what I’ve seen right out of the gate……

The last band I was in, playing original music mostly, covered this song. We’d rehearse 1-3 times a week. The big note at the end of the song I made it once maybe in rehearsal or at our first show. Most foul language doesn’t bother me. When I go to any music concert that is a metal or hard rock show I do blush about the language somewhat. “How dare you call me a mother@#$%#$? I payed cash to see you & I sit through a concert while you call the paying audience names? STOP!!!” If they’re drinking or smoking whatever on stage that’s fine unless it affects the musical performance, then I’m likely to leave. When I see Foo Fighters & Dave Grohl speaks between songs, “…I think to myself..” “Really? Every other word?” That becomes too much for me. Many bands I like do this. Albums are clean, concerts not so much. I know it’s not meant in a hurtful manner, but at some point enough is enough. When I swear it’s at myself for not doing something incorrectly or doing something stupid like hitting a wall with my wheelchair. I never swore on stage or in our songs, my choice actually nobody in any band I was in swore on stage. Not the vibe I wanted the audience to feel when any group I was with on stage.

I’m not the general manager or the field manager for the Toronto Blue Jays, but they’re under preforming. At this point you could just throw piles of money at different players & it wouldn’t make a difference. Jose Bautista can’t play the field due to his shoulder but he can hit as the designated hitter. Jose Reyes can’t do anything yet, all-star short stop who has yet to go a season with the Jays and not suffer an injury 2012 season & every season since. Newly acquired left fielder Saunders is on the disabled list. Young players CF Dalton Pompey & starting pitcher Daniel Norris have been sent to AAA league. The Jays are just keeping their head above water, so things aren’t as bad as they seem. My line up would look much different. I’m just an armchair coach though. I wouldn’t even consider getting rid of field manager John Gibbons, he’s not a player determining the out come of the game There are player’s I’d shop around seeing what I could get in return for them not it’s not the 2 big batters.

BECAUSE NOT EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD IS ON A SOCIAL MEDIA SITE! I use my email to talk with friends who have working email address’, a few people don’t have that? Mark Tremonti is already talking about the 2nd album they recorded while in the studio, yet the first one isn’t publically released yet?

New/3rd song from the upcoming “Walk off the Earth” album to be released on June 16th

Big month for me music wise in June. Barenaked Ladies, Tremonti, Muse, & Walk off the Earth!

“Into Eternity” & “Third Ion” should release their album this summer I’m guessing? Both bands are from Regina. I assume both albums will be available on iTunes? “Into Eternity” has their last 4/5 albums & a couple of singles on there. Their 1st album is not on there though.

I seem to know more & more people that get a cancer diagnoses on a weekly basis, just not cool in the least! If you don’t know them, then no need to worry. Not my story to tell.

Songs I like. “Freak Kitchen” I heard them, I liked some of there stuff, I bought 2 albums from iTunes, 2 days later it got old………………..fast! For me anyways, see what you think?
