Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.  “Big Wreck”, “Tool”, & that’s about it.  Tool is a long album with most songs (6?) over 10 minutes on the 10 song digital version & the 7 song physical version.

Other than trying to find the time to get a good listen into my 2 new albums.  I was SUPER tired/exhausted Friday afternoon & evening.  I stayed up as long as I could to hang out with Kim.  I packed it in at 10:00 pm.

Saturday we took to organizing our computer room.  Kim busted her butt doing the majority of it.  I stayed out of her way & cleaned the kitchen area, dishwasher, sweep, & wet Swiffer the floor.  As of Saturday evening it wasn’t quite put back together.  I threw out some of my stuff & organized my desk drawers, then put the desks in a different layout.

Grabbed the acoustic guitar again while trying to stay out of Kim’s way on Saturday.  I hate putting it down.  My brother has a used practice amplifier that he doesn’t use anymore.  Cheaper in price, but still fits what I’d like, quieter too!

Labour Day Classic was here on Sunday, well it’s here every Labour Day weekend.  Always a fun game between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs. the home Saskatchewan Roughriders.  Riders won 19-17 on the final play of the game with a field goal.  Winnipeg gave us 3 points though in the first quarter on kicks, Riders had WAY too many stupid/preventable penalties again.  If I was the head coach, which I’m not, I be passing out $20,000 fines for stupid/easily preventable penalties.  After this game & the previous home game, the players might be paying to play here, it’s embarrassing to the rest of the league.

My great aunt & uncle were here from Winnipeg.  My dad, great uncle, & I went to the game.  SO much fun to be at the game in that atmosphere FANTASTIC!

Computer room is nearing completion.  We need to figure out where a few photos will go & what we’ll use to hang them.  Probably throw out a bit more dust catchers & bring up a ceramic Pinocchio my grandmother painted for me when I was a child.  It’s currently in our storage unit in our parkade.

Figured out a way to help my grandparents drink more water, just trying to help them out.  I hope they enjoy it with Mio flavouring.

Kim just went out for a few groceries after doing a TON of other stuff.  I finally got some time to take a breather and turn on my computer after doing stuff around here.  It’s 5:20 pm as I type this.

Dixie Chicks “Fly” at 20 years later.

That’s quite the lineup of guests for a Post Malone album.

There wasn’t much news at all this week that’s why this is shorter than usual.  Not even more than one article about the TOOL album.  Kim bought it for me on Friday.  If I had known it was $70 + tax, I’d have said not to worry about it.  It did come with a 36 page booklet full of cool art, lyrics, & credits.  Also a video on a 4” screen when you open the CD panel.  It starts playing when you open it & stops when you close it, pretty cool to see.

Yes, a country artist.  Kim listens to country music, & he snuck in under the radar.  He has that bit of 70s southern rock vibe to him.  It’s far more apparent when he’s a guest on other albums though.  I know nothing about him other than a few guest appearances, his own album, & Kim went to The Craven Valley Jamboree to see him as the weekend headliner.  No, I didn’t bother to go to him or Garth Brooks a few weeks ago.  Just not my thing. A lot of money for something I likely wouldn’t enjoy.

Here are 3 songs he made an appearance on, for 3 individual albums, followed by his own album.

ED SHEERAN w/ Chris Stapleton & Bruno Mars

PINK w/Chris Stapleton

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.  “I Mother Earth”, “Led Zeppelin”, “Black Sabbath”, “Megadeth”, “Testament”, “Trivium”, & “Metallica”.

My aunt & uncle were here from Alberta over the weekend, we went to my parents place to see them on Saturday.  Rachel was somewhat under the weather.  My brother was there with their new puppy Frankie.  Right now she’s smaller than my parents’ dog, who is just over 5lbs.  Once she’s full grown it will be Goose at 5lbs, Frankie at 9lbs, & our old man at 12lbs.  He just turned 13 on January 31st.  Frankie’s tough though sharp puppy teeth.  It was more of a “HI FRANKIE!……………………Oh, hi Mitch.  Now we have 2 “nieces”.  One is named Hannah, a human, the other is Frankie, a dog, Brewster’s cousin.

Sunday was a wake up at 5:00 am day?  Why, I don’t know?  We had groceries delivered just shortly after 8:00 am.  Helped Kim put them away, boiled some eggs, made my vegetable juice for a 4 day week, just some laundry to put away, & our human “niece” was here for a sleep over.

After an exhausting Sunday, I was all out of gas, & then came the couch.  I slept well last night, 5:00 am wake up, no nap, 2 cups of coffee, +25C in our suite, & a very energetic girl.  I did sleep more last night, but I still needed a coffee, 3rd one of the month I believe.

Cleaned up the sticker books, paints, & a few Legos, along with all of the dishes before I went to bed on the couch.  Kim & Hannah were in the bedroom & asleep by 9:30 pm.  I think I hit the couch around 11:00 pm.

Today we get to visit with a friend of mine & Kim has to take some photos for her photography class.

So that’s 4 tours in the last 2 weeks that will be anywhere but Saskatchewan.  Playing one night in Toronto does not make it a world tour, I’m looking at you “Muse”!  They didn’t even release the one day showing in Saskatchewan theaters of their previous world tour.

That’s one of the reasons I purchase music from iTunes instead of streaming it.  That & my iPod Classic works fine, if I went to streaming, I’d have to get an iPod touch or an iPhone, so I’ll stick with iTunes for now.  Kim has Apple Music that I can use to hear a full album on before I purchase it.  I want to give musicians some cash for doing their job, & I tend to buy a T-Shirt at a show also.  In Saskatchewan I’ll likely see 1/10 of the bands I listen to.

Oh, the declining Apple products…  This is pretty much common knowledge, among my inner circle, & sad.  Ever wonder if Apple had it right & just need to fix the stuff that is now trash.  I’m an iTunes user & the changes to iTunes have really got me thinking about jumping ship.

A TON of cell phone users in Ontario & other parts of Eastern Canada complaining on Friday about an Amber Alert on their cell phone.  They wanted a cell phone, so deal with all of the stuff that comes with it.

I’m using the 4 CDs Kim has.  I don’t listen to them much, but I do like them.  There’s probably some twang in there but it doesn’t bother me at all.  They’ve got an acoustic guitar, banjo, & fiddle along with many other instruments when needed.  They came to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan after I was out of my therapy.  Kim went with a friend & I should have gone too, bad call on my part!

1999   FLY

2002   HOME

I wish they we’re making new music today.  I’m not a big fan of country music & Kim’s not a fan of metal or rock.  I can deal with “Dixie Chicks” & she likes this song by “Tool”

I fell asleep to “Trivium” the album “Silence in the Snow”

I exercised to “Lamb of God” the album “VII: Sturm Und Drang”

Crunches, leg lifts, & pushups.  I’ll do that for a few weeks, then maybe up those numbers.  No squats that could wreck my back.  Mostly it’s trying to exercise without ruining my back.

I used to hate it when people would say “I exercised today & I feel so good now”.  Now I’m one of those people, even working out at a minimal amount.

I’ve got some rough numbers where I’d like to end up for my exercises, but they’re way down the road.  As for squats, they can wait until I meet with the surgeon or after the surgery.

Get up early before its 25 Celcius in here.  I did that on Tuesday & today.  That’s the trick!  I’m just going to pretend I don’t have a nasty cough still.  When I exercise it makes me feel as though I’m doing something productive.  I need that.  Even when I ran a printing press!  At the end of a shift I could hold a piece of paper & think to myself “Hey, I helped make this”.

Nobody told me this until a few weeks ago?  My cancer was likely to come back in 2013.  Something I would have liked to know.  Nobody told me squat!  WHY????????  I wouldn’t have done anything differently to avoid it.  You’d think anyone with that kind of info might clue you in.  “His cancer will probably come back but don’t tell him”.  I don’t know, it just seems disrespectful, but 2013 is a long time ago & the cancer didn’t “come back”

If I don’t know what music I should workout to, I just look down at the shirt I’m wearing.  I had to do that today.

If you’re here strictly for the cancer news, that’s all I have for you today.

Always looking for new bands.  I found a metal group called “Kobra & the Lotus”.  A female fronted group.  I’ve got all of the metal bands I’ll follow, but this song seems to be OK.  Their past 2 albums I’m pretty sure aren’t for me.  I can’t see myself listening to this much but I thought some of you would be interested.

They’re like “Gojira” or “Children of Bodom” for me.  Love most of the music, but can’t get behind the vocals?

I’ve become a super hero nut.  I was watching “Gotham” Monday night.  During a commercial brake they showed a trailer of the “Wonder Woman” movie.  I don’t know that I’ll see it on June 2nd, but I’ll definitely see it & likely buy it.

OK May 12th, hurry up!  I listen to this song about twice a day on either iTunes or www.youtube.com

I’ve never actually heard their music.  How many musicians have used their platform against anything?  EVERYBODY!  Now this video can’t be made because it’s anti-government?  Give me a break

Just think of “The Sex Pistols”  “I am an anti-Christ” anti-Christian, I see no problem with that.  That’s fine or “Rage Against The Machine” pick almost any song in their catalogue.  It is likely anti-government & that’s fine with me also.  It’s kind of pointless that an artist has zero free speech.  I guess if your anti-anything you’d be better off to just “shut up & sing”, that’s just completely messed up to me.  It’s OK for Taylor Swift to bash an ex, but if she was singing about the government in the same way, that would be wrong?  I draw the line at Church burning by mostly black metal bands in Europe.  Not every black metal band does this though.

I’ve never been a fan of this song, Soundgarden is great but this song I just can’t get my head around.  Soundgarden shared it though……

Last week tonight with John Oliver.  He’s just funny!  LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I’m OK with marijuana.  Do what you like, just please don’t hurt yourself or anyone else.

I really don’t care for a week of just stretching & not doing much for exercise.  I feel incredibly guilty.  I keep thinking “I should be exercising”.   Everything feels OK, but next week will be more of a buildup week, a week to gradually get up to my exercise goals.  My body can’t just “automatically” flip a switch & go all out.  I’d love for that to happen, but I’d end up in the same place I am now.  I really don’t need that to happen.

Some people tend to think my life is a cake walk, super easy, fantastic retirement.  That is so not the case!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  When I get up at 6:00 or 7:00 am, I get up & go ass much & as fast as I can.  Honestly, I’m more stressed now than I’ve ever been!  In the end it’s my fault, I always expect more/better from myself (self-inflicted stress).

Yeah, I watched the CMAs/Country Music Awards.  I’m not much of a country music fan, I watched it so I could hang out with my wife.  How did a rock & metal fan marry a country music fan?  Good thing all of her other attributes shine brighter than her taste in music.  At least the Dixie Chicks performed & Zac Brown Band were nominated.

This “Zac Brown Band” album “Jekyll & Hyde” is just as good as the “Lamb of God” album “VII: Sturm Und Drang” to me.

Conan & Ryan Reynolds scene from the “Notebook 2”

Tony Iommi on the future of Black Sabbath

Third Ion……………….LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I guess using foul language solidifies your life as a metal/rock musician.  I only swore on stage if it was a lyric in a cover song.  BECAUSE IT’S NOT NEEDED OTHER WISE.  In the end it’s the group/musicians show.  If I’m offended by the language used, whoever it is has my money, & I have every right to leave, or not attend or purchase a ticket.  That being said, if language mattered to me I’d never see Foo Fighters live.

She was in the “Larry Flint” movie.  I never saw it or heard any complaints about her performance.

Kim has today off, E.D.O., she’s out getting groceries.  I’m stretching & taking care of the dishes among other stuff rocking out to “Iron Maiden” & “Barenaked Ladies”

I’ll catch you Sunday!!!

I reached all of my exercise goals this week.  I’ve been tired a bit more than usual this week.  I like getting up somewhere between 6:00 am and 6:30 am or at least by 7:00 am, which happened most of the week other than Thursday.  Kim woke me up multiple times before she left for work.  I slept in until 8:00 am.  The entire day I felt like I was chasing the day!  My exercises take a bit longer & I had other stuff I wanted to get done.

7500 crunches, 600 squats, 500 leg lifts, & 500 pushups in a 5 day week.

Every day of the week starts with 60 squats, a 3 minute rest, 60 more squats, 50 leg lifts on my back, 1500 crunches.  Then 50 more leg lifts on my hands & knees, then 100 pushups.

Once that’s done I have coffee, my blende juice of fruits & vegetables, & I always have a 700 ml of water with me.  During the day I have a minimum of 2.1 liters of water, & that’s why I pee so much.  Then I either shower, write a blog post, or vice versa.

I really like this rock album.  I like this trend of females fronting groups.  For me, it’s a welcome change of pace.  Interview with Taylor Momsen of “The Pretty Reckless”

Justin Timberlake as a guest on Jimmy Fallon

Phil Collins on Jimmy Fallon, no pressure Questlove!

I love “Criminal Minds”!!!!!

There is good country music out there, but it’s not something I’d listen to very often.  That being said the good music of any genres is hard to find.  I don’t like a metal group just because they’re heavy?  I listen to pop, rock, & metal, & then whatever catches my ear.  Example; I really like “Dixie Chicks” Kim has their albums, I like them.  I don’t listen to them often, but they’re on my iPod for when I’d like to hear something different.  Honestly, I’ve never heard a country song that gets me excited or think “Oh man, I have to get that album!!!!!!”

I’m not sure if I’ve shared this review before, I know I’ve watched it though.  No it’s not “Alter Bridge”, it’s “Opeth”

I guess this is Muse’s Halloween surprise.

Metallica album teaser.  I think I’ll be getting this album.  It’s only taken 33 years for me to enjoy an entire Metallica album!  Still a wait & see album for me

Quiet weekend here, Kim’s back from her trip to B.C. this weekend.  I really missed her.  Brewster & I got to hang out.  Kim made food to keep in the fridge for me a lasagna & some fish.  I ended up hanging out at my parents place for 2 of the 4 days.  I ended up not eating here much, more so at my parents place.  I missed Kim so much!  Brewster was thrilled to see her too.

I’d be purchasing vinyl as well, if I had room for a collection?  According to my father, sales for CD players are declining steadily & record player sales are climbing upwards!  He works in the business designing home theaters & much more.

There’s a group from New York called “Highly Suspect” who are releasing their 2nd album which is on iTunes for preorder as of Friday…………….but only in the USA.  I checked immediately on iTunes!  Not there.  On American iTunes, yes it’s there.  It asked me to make an American iTunes account, that ain’t happening……………………ever.  I got their first album on iTunes (Canadian).  Take my money?  I don’t agree with streaming sites, just like I no longer have a subscription to “Guitar World” magazine.  I download my music on iTunes.  I’m very leery about signing up for an American iTunes account, it’s likely illegal & will likely screw up our Canadian iTunes.

I had a completely different issue that they helped me with immediately by calling me 2 seconds after they got my request for a phone call!  The customer support is fantastic, the point of sale service could improve vastly………………could also be that I’m all thumbs when it comes to technology.

The new ‘Incubus’ release might be OK? I haven’t checked it out. It’s a five song EP to be released in May. I don’t think I need it. It sounds good but I’d likely not listen to it much.

My question is, why do I have to be on twitter or Facebook to “vote” for someone in a “reality” show or anything else? Everybody has email, not everyone is on Facebook or twitter. This blog isn’t touching the 2 social media sites, why? Because everyone has an email address! Did that not clue in anyone when they joined one or both of those sites? I’ve found people from the past that I’ve lost track of over the years. I follow musicians/bands & music blogs. How do I do that? With my EMAIL!!! If I could leave facebook & still get the information from it, I would in a heart beat!

I’ll be offline tomorrow. Kim has an EDO tomorrow. I’m going to hang out with my wife tomorrow. Have a great weekend!

Songs I like. “Dixie Chicks”. How often do I listen to them? Almost never, Kim likes them & they don’t bother me at all. I like them, they’re my go to country group.
