Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Exercise total for 5 days.

500 Curls w/ 20 pound dumb bells

300 Shoulder raises/Chest presses w/ 10 pound dumb bells

900 Crunches

900 Leg lifts

300 Squats

600 Back flexes

Why don’t I go walking with my walker more often?  “No excuse” or reason, I’m just lazy.  I do all of that exercise over the course of a week & at the end of each day I just don’t feel like doing anything.  I should be walking once a day!  We’re also very set in our routine.  I guess I’ll have to chat with Kim since she’ll have to be with me if I fall & crack my head open.  If I’m in the hallway I should be OK since its flat ground.  If I go to our parking garage, it has ups and downs for drainage.  Outside is an entire different experience with cracks, holes, rocks, uphill, downhill, etc. thrown in randomly.  We just need to make walking part of our routine.

I’m on 7 different pills now.  While I was in the hospital & my rehabilitation therapies I was on 10, all of them have changed but one of them that I’d be on regardless of cancer.  My heartburn pill which I take one in the morning & one at night.  I’m on 3 anti-depressant pills.  2 at night which also act as sleeping pills & one every morning.  I’m on a thyroid pill for an under active thyroid gland once in the morning.  I’m on a pill to better control my bladder since I have to drink a LOT of fluids to avoid dry mouth from my other pills.  Finally the last pill of the lot is to prevent seizures.  I take one at night and ½ a pill in the morning.

This week in particular I’ve been drinking 5 liters of water, 1 or 2 Saskatoon Berry teas, and 2 or 3 Bubbly carbonated waters a day.  Not sure why but I must be thirsty?  I avoid coffee because I have a very high resting pulse & I don’t even know if we have any soda in our house?

Tuesday afternoon I spoke on the phone with a representative from www.sweetwater.com about ordering the S2 McCarty 594 through them.  Really nice guy!  Chatted for a bit and he told me that if he was considering the same thing I was asking about, he’d buy locally instead of a company in the USA.  I was asking because the retail price I the USA once converted to Canadian money went up only $6, here it went up $130 but the warranty, duty, shipping would be added to the price not making it worth it.  So for those reasons & the fact the guy I contact is REALLY good to deal with here & a familiar face, I’m sticking with ordering from the store here.

Next year I hope to order this….

…followed by a special order of this guitar when I have the cash.

https://www.schecterguitars.com/guitars/custom/tempest-custom-vwht-1-detail

The S2 McCarty 594 & the Schecter Tempest for sure.  Then I’m done shopping other than a $20-$30 slide since my old one disappeared while I was in the hospital, along with a few other small things.  No I don’t have G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) that’s for people with a heck of a lot more money than I have and have 40 guitars, 10 amplifiers, & 150 effect pedals….oh & jobs.  I don’t want that amount of stuff since I know it will be taking up space & going unused for months.  If it’s not seasonal & hasn’t been used in 6 months, why do I need it?  This is it, the 2 BIG ones!  Oh my F.O.M.O.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I wanted to get just another guitar, I could but it’s not the PRS S2 McCarty 594 or the Tempest.  It’s a used Mark Morton (Lamb of God) signature Jackson that brand new would cost $1600 + tax new.  It’s listed at $800 used.  Sweet deal, I can’t believe nobody has bought it yet?  Maybe everyone’s in a similar situation as me or they just don’t like it?

The Schecter website was down over the weekend & I was freaking out a bit!  It’s not about getting these guitars in my hands ASAP, I’m fine with waiting.  What concerns me is that every January (usually the 2nd week of the year) there’s a HUGE 4 day trade show called NAMM where different instrument makers release new products & eliminate others.  I’m worried about these guitars being discontinued before I have the opportunity to buy them, hence my F.O.M.O. (Fear of missing out).  They’ll both be ordered in separate years due to the price and take 6 months or more to be made.  I’m fine with waiting for them being made & any delays that occur but I don’t want to miss out on ordering them if they go out of production.  I’ve wanted that PRS S2 McCarty 594 for quite a while & it’s the more expensive one of my final 2 guitars that will definitely be ordered first, next February I hope.  Not at my limit of paying for a guitar, but close enough to make me worry about it being “so far away”.

Here’s an example.  The PRS S2 Custom 22 that I got in September 2020 after ordering it in January 2020 is now out of production.  Other delays along the way, I get it, not much anybody here could do about it.  Actually every guitar I own other than my signed Telecaster is out of production.  I can’t look them up on any website.  We’re not broke, but we don’t have a disposable amount of money for me to go out guitar shopping whenever I get the urge.  That’s why I spend FAR TOO MUCH time on the internet researching these purchases.

A lot of people sell guitars & other guitar gear to afford different guitar gear.  I prefer to know what I’m getting, what purpose it will have, & keep it for that purpose.  The guitar I bought in December and returned had a different type of fretboard wood that I couldn’t get comfortable with & the pickups were dull sounding to me.  As for the 7 string, I really wanted a 7 string that didn’t look all pointy with sharp corners as a metal guitar typically does.  Then I found out the hard way that I’m not a 7 string style of player.  I listen to that music but I don’t play it.

I have one amplifier, 2 effect pedals (also a tuner & a channel switching pedal) & hopefully 7 electric guitars in a variety of tunings, shapes, & colours, along with one acoustic guitar.  Kim says my acoustic guitar is too loud, I hit the strings with a lot of force on every guitar.

I was going to end this when I got my last guitar but that’s too far away!  So end of the year or one post into January.  I’ll carry on with my exercise routine though.  I don’t see much changing unless we buy a house next year?

It would be nice to sell our condo just to have a spare bed for out of town guests.  Nothing is confirmed on that decision yet though.  We’ll see what’s available at that time?  We both have a HUGE amount of doubt though.

We’ve switched our cable company twice, each time with a less expensive cable box to save money.  This is a case of you get what you pay for.  We missed Tuesday’s episode of “The Ellen Degeneres Show”.  I can’t wait to switch to a reliable DVR so I can watch baseball & other recorded shows.  The DVR we have now is cheap and you have to watch one channel if you’re recording another or record both & turn the TV off.  First world problems, but it’s annoying.  I couldn’t find the entire show on www.youtube.com.  I guess that’s OK, I watch enough www.youtube.com already.  It’s nice to sit on the couch and watch TV after spending most of the day in my wheelchair.  Problem with that is I usually get my acoustic guitar & practice while watching TV, that’s why Kim thinks my acoustic is too loud.

The annual “Telemiracle” fundraiser takes place from Saturday at 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Sunday this weekend.  They helped us out with multiple thousands of dollars towards a wheelchair van we used when I was able to go home on the weekends or out to the family cabin a few times.  For those who have never seen or heard of “Telemiracle” it’s a weekend long telethon and every local Saskatchewan TV station airs it featuring local talent which is typically live but pre-recorded this year and people are welcome to call in & donate to the charity.  Funds raised go towards helping people with disabilities.  I remember donating as a child the first time.  I asked my mother if I could donate $10.  She said yes and called in for me.  The last live concert I played was January 25th 2008.  It was a local rock show that we were asked to play with all of the funds going to that charity.  I think we played 2 benefit shows in separate years for that charity.  I’d go to the “Metal for Telemiracle” show & we’d play the “Rock for Telemiracle” show.  Both were organized by a good friend of ours who played in a band at the time that fit with both genres.  He now plays in “Room 333” with my brother.  Kim donated at the grocery store 2 weeks ago.  They do wonderful work for people in need!

I’m not sure why, but I keep adding to the list of songs I want to learn which is easily an additional 30+ songs to the 30something I continue to play.  When you hit that many and don’t sing them at the same time memory is a HUGE issue for me.  2 of my most recent partially learned additions are…

I don’t really learn a new song ASAP.  I look at it & play the basic parts of it to see how difficult it is, and go back to what I was learning.

For anyone not following the quarantine rules and think the rules are nonsense, think about it this way other than we know that vaccines are here & more are coming.  The more you obey & stick to health officials rules, the sooner those rules go away!  If you do that maybe you’ll get a lollipop when you get your vaccination?

Get ready everybody!  Any kind of artist music, writer, painter, sculptor, director, dancer, athlete, etc.  Have been locked up for a year and they all have stuff to show the world!  It’s going to be a swarm of creative projects coming at everyone who pays attention!

Looks like “Chevelle” are the next release for me on March 5th.

Did a guitar return & guitar purchase for my birthday.  The new guitar won’t be in stock for a few weeks though.  I returned the Epiphone DC Pro, the guitar that looks like a PRS for the Squier Starcaster Hollow body ‘Classic Vibe’.  The Indian Laurel fret board & the pickups weren’t doing anything for me on the “Wannabe” Epiphone I bought in December.  “In the end” I saved some cash because a “Squier” Starcaster & the “Fender” brand doesn’t make them anymore.  Sound clips seem great though, can’t wait for the end of February!

I returned this exact model of guitar….

https://www.epiphone.com/Guitar/EPIUHU51/DC-PRO/Faded-Cherry

…in exchange for this exact model of guitar

REALLY excited for this to arrive by the end of February!

I’m saving up for this guitar which I recently realized I’ll be able to order and make a deposit for it in November of 2023 wait 3-6 months & pay the full amount when it arrives, if they still make it by then?  It’s  going to take a while since I’ve got to save $5000 a year for my RDSP until I’m 50 & can’t touch it until I’m 60.  This my “bucket list” guitar.  The other guitars I’ve purchased were not terrible purchases in any way.  I’d really like to get the Schecter too, but now I realize that it likely won’t happen since the purchase is “so far away”.

Might as well just see what’s around when the time comes or I might just forget the whole idea after the S2 McCarty 594 & put money towards more responsible things?

https://www.schecterguitars.com/guitars/custom/tempest-custom-vwht-1-detail

The S2 McCarty 594 & the Schecter Tempest would close the book for guitar purchasing.  I REALLY don’t want to shop for guitars anymore.  I know what I want & I have a goal.  I might have to start selling my body, although I don’t think I’d have any buyers?  If Schecter discontinues the Tempest body shape completely, I’m out.  There are other Tempest shaped guitars on their website that I’d consider if this particular one is discontinued.

I had 1 beer Friday night & I was WIDE awake at 5:00 am Saturday. I went with Kim & Brewster since he had a trim at 8:00 am that morning.  I bought 4 beer so I had 1 more late afternoon on Saturday & slept fine that night.

We picked up our light fixtures for our renovations on my birthday as well.  The bank is going to think we’ve been scammed!  A return, a purchase, a deposit, a transfer, another purchase, & a smaller purchase in one day, we never do that much stuff in one day!  Our place looks good with the new paint & the lighting will make another BIG difference.

Finished the day with ordered in Greek food from “Opa!”  Watched the movie “Palmer” that had Kim & I crying at the end because it was so good, & Dairy Queen ice cream cake.

I was crying because I want the opportunity to be that type of father, Kim was crying because she saw me tearing up!

I was off to my parents’ place on Sunday to play guitar through my brother’s new amplifier that he won in December, so I could hear it at a louder volume than in our condo or his.  Nice to hear my guitar through a REALLY good amplifier.  He won a ‘boutique’ amplifier in a free Christmas give away in December.  I think his plan is to record & practice/rehearse with it.  Too valuable to sound check at a venue then leave it unsupervised for a few hours before a show.  I agree with owning more than one guitar amplifier in this scenario, there are people that use multiple amplifiers to get different sounds so I guess it’s whatever works for the individual.  People say I’m off my rocker hoping to own multiple electric guitars and one acoustic guitar, oh well I guess I’m nutz!  I’ll have 6 very different electric guitars at the end of the month, if you think that’s too many then you’re likely flabbergasted at the thought of 8.  They’ll each have a different shape, sound, colour, & tuning.  My acoustic, S2 McCarty 594, Explorer, maybe the Starcaster coming at the end of the month will stay in standard tuning since they sound so different.

I’ll never tell you what to listen too.  So I hope this dispels the myth about angry metal fans!

I believe it’s more due to an individual’s preference more than anything!  The metal I listen too just skims the depth of what’s out there.  There’s at least a dozen genres of metal & they all have multiple sub-genres.  Metal fans for the most part are just as picky as the next music fan.

Entered another 2 free lotteries for guitars that were given away this weekend on www.youtube.com but I didn’t win again.  What would I do if I won a guitar give away?  I’d offer it, for free, to anyone I know that plays guitar “I know what I’d like, would you like this?”  If there were no takers out of the 12ish people I’d offer it to, then I’d sell it or trade it in for something I want.

Kim’s childhood friend that was in an explosive demolition accident is home now.  He lives in Kim’s home town about 30 minutes from Prince Albert & 1:30 hours from Saskatoon.  He’s paralyzed from the waist down & now the hard/frustrating part starts for him.  He’ll either be going to Prince Albert or Saskatoon for physiotherapy & I’m sure they’ll be doing renovations to their house or moving.  I believe he & his wife have one child with them around 3 or 4 years old & two adult children?  This event REALLY hit me hard.  Our injuries may be different but they’re both life changing events with future uphill battles.

PLEASE HELP THIS FAMILY OUT BY DONATING ANY AMOUNT TO THEIR “GO FUND ME” PAGE?  They’re still over $20,000 away from the goal amount.  GO TEAM GO!

Yesterday I exercised, I was cold & really tired after so I crawled back into bed.  Today I got at 5:30 am & feel great after my exercise now at 8:00 am!

BREWSTER’S HEART MEDICATION HAS STARTED

I had to listen to some “Foo Fighters”, “Alter Bridge”, & “Big Wreck” after writing all of this.

I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “Concrete & Gold”, followed by “Big Wreck” the album “The Pleasure & the Greed”

I exercised to “Alter Bridge” the album “One Day Remains”

I’m back to it this week.  I guess my body either needed a break or took longer to recover than I had anticipated?

Little bit past the age of 14 human years & as of this past Friday night Brewster’s on heart medication every 12 hours & a humidifier from Amazon.ca has been ordered.  We needed a humidifier for the guitars but this sped up the process.

A little after 9:00 pm on Friday we were watching TV.  Kim stopped everything to listen to Brewster, who was on the floor in his bed by her.  His breathing was weird, he sounded very congested.  Kim took him to the vet ASAP.  He had X-Rays done, temperature, & blood work.  His heart is enlarged, it’s pushing on his trachea causing him to cough, & his congestion was due to fluid in his lungs.  He has 30 days of medication for the fluid in his lungs, then the rest of his life on heart medication.  He goes back in 3 weeks for a checkup.

They didn’t get home until close to midnight.  I stayed up by the phone hoping all was OK.  All is well, he’s getting older though.

I’ve decided against upgrading my guitar amplifier.  20 watts through an 8” speaker is already louder than I’ll need now that I play at home.  Being in a condo at the moment prevents me from turning the volume up past 2 ½ out of 10.  I turned it up to 3/10 one day to see what one of the guitars could do.  Even that was too loud for me!  Amplifiers are much more efficient than they were when I was playing live.

I don’t like having a guitar I don’t play.  I have one I don’t play for a few reasons, I’d sell it to get a 35th anniversary PRS SE McCarty https://www.prsguitars.com/index.php/electrics/model/35th_anniversary_se_custom_24_2020 which is the cheapest PRS guitar built overseas but still $1300 Canadian + tax, if I lived in the USA it would be around $500-$800.  I prefer the colour on this but it’s not happening for many years if it ever does.  I assume these won’t have another appearance either.

I RARELY, if EVER, play the semi-hollow Fender Telecaster.  Very much made for blues or country music which I really don’t listen to or play.  It used to be all about the Gibson or Fender brands.  PRS or Paul Reed Smith has become well known for the company’s attention to detail & excellent craftsmanship after 35 years.  Gibson & Fender have both gone bankrupt in the last decade but have comeback without really changing anything.

I’ll be getting my 2nd guitar of the year in August (hopefully), & I’m still learning/playing the 7 string quite a bit.  The 35th Anniversary SE has totally different electronics from anything I own though.  Different pickups and 16 different electronic combinations/sounds.  I’m not going to have $1200 just sitting around to spend on a guitar so it’s likely a ‘NEVER GOING TO AFFORD IT’ situation.  I’ve looked at other guitars that just don’t suit my desires.  Guitars I’m not into or guitars I’d not play since they’re similar to what I have or will have by the end of August, which now seems “So far away”.  I wouldn’t just buy a guitar for the sake of buying a guitar!

A trip & hopefully a house have to happen first anyways.  If we can’t find a house this year, I give up on the house idea for a few years (not buy a guitar), Kim’s cool with taking a break from it too for a bit.

The Fender Telecaster is a treasured piece of art here & I keep it for sentimental value.  It was given to me by one of my very close friends while I was in my rehabilitation program.  I love the body shape of a Telecaster.  I love the dark wood stain body with the pearl pick guard.  It’s also autographed to me by one of my 3 favourite artists, Ian Thornley of “Big Wreck”.

I find the neck of a Fender very uncomfortable.  The fret board is maple like the rest of the neck, the tuning pegs are odd & I’m just not a fan of the single coil pickups in it.  I can get the “rock” sound out of it, but I really have to adjust the way I play it.  It looks so good though, for that and sentimental reasons it’s hung on the wall as a piece of art that never gets played.  It’s a guitar I can’t part with.

Fender makes about 9 different neck radiuses.  I’ve tried 4 & haven’t liked one yet.  It is a VERY nice looking guitar though!  Ideally I’d get a different neck bolted on with different tuners & different fret board, I’d also have a Humbucker pickup in the bridge position.  At that point I might as well buy an SE for what it would cost?  I’ve convinced myself that as a stay at home guitarist, making no income, a PRS SE is unaffordable.  I’ll have to hear my PRS S2 first to see IF I’d ever consider getting another guitar in the VERY distant future. I’d look at a PRS SE first, the most affordable PRS on the market & likely shy away due to the price tag.

Dave Grohl, Ian Thornley, Foo Fighters & Big Wreck have been my favourite musicians & bands since they started.  Myles Kennedy & Alter Bridge have been added to the top of my list when Alter Bridge released their first album in 2004.

I watched a youtube video with lead guitarist, Mark Tremonti, of Alter Bridge who has a signature PRS model.  He gives a guitar away to an audience member at the end of every live show now.  I just want the opportunity to see them live!

So why didn’t I order the PRS SE 35th Anniversary McCarty?  I figured if I’m going to buy what is likely my last guitar, I want something completely different.  What features do I not have that the PRS I ordered does?  It is semi-hollow, the different pickups split between humbucker & single coil pickups, it has a tremolo bridge & bar, it’s a different yet distinct body style, yellow to red sunburst finish, & it has locking tuners.

The guitar I ordered is not a super expensive “Core” model or a least expensive SE model.  It’s in their S2 line which is built at the American factory with a few cheaper parts from the factory oversea, where the SE is built.  PRS implemented this S2 line to have a guitar at a different price point.

Hopefully I’ll find a part time online job in the meantime, something simple like data entry?  I’d still like to exercise in the mornings for a couple of hours.

As far as a house goes we have to sell first & find a place for us in a set amount of time.  I really don’t see this working out in our favor?  May destiny prove me wrong please?  We’re only looking for a one level bungalow in Regina with 3 or 4 bedrooms, it has to be out there somewhere? 1 or 2 of the spare rooms would be used as an office(s). Kim wants an attached garage so my wheelchair doesn’t have to go through the snow, & I can’t work on finishing a basement, so that would be ideal.  As far as I can tell that doesn’t exist in Regina?

We did put up some artwork in the living room.  8 vinyl Foo Fighters albums in frames.  Just awaiting the delivery of the “Wasting Light” record.  Hopefully it comes this week?  This album was released in April of 2011 as I was beginning to walk with my walker, well relearning how to walk, very shortly after I learned how to stand in my rehabilitation program while holding on to something for balance.

As for concerts, they’d better be in Regina, Moose Jaw, or Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  Foo Fighters & Alter Bridge in Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba.  I’d like to see TOOL in either Alberta or Manitoba this year but I saw them 3 times on their last tour, 2006, 2007, & in Regina in 2010.  Alter Bridge are looking at doing some shows in western Canada for the first time, fingers crossed!

I’ll shut up about guitar.  It’s the only hobby I can do physically other than TV, movies, & listening to music.  I could ramble about Blue Jays baseball if you prefer but I can see that going over like a lead balloon!

If you’re getting this through Facebook, give it a like or other reaction, or share it.  That’s the only way of promoting this site, since I’m not profiting from this in any way.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.  “In Flames”, “Mark Morton”, “Dream Theater”,

I did get 2 albums from iTunes on Friday morning.  I’m done for the month of March on iTunes, unless Big Wreck has a preorder date for their new album soon.  I got “In Flames” the album “I, The Mask” & “Mark Morton”, Lamb of God guitarist, who had a different guest vocalist on each song on his solo album “Anesthetic”.  First gut reaction, all 3 were great purchases for me.  The “Mark Morton” album would be the weakest out of the 3 but still a FANTASTIC album!

When I’ve listened to them a few times I’ll do a review on them.  As a first reaction, they’re both great.  Then you throw “Dream Theater” into the mix with albums released last year & the year before that & my music selection is AWESOME for me!

My cousin is in town for a week & I’m anxious to see her!

I slept extremely well Friday night.  Woke up to pee twice but fell asleep after with no problem at all.

Saturday, was Kim taking photos as homework for her photography class.  After that we watched some “Grace & Frankie”.  I rented “Blackkklansman” afterwards.  Great movie, but Kim hit the hay 2/3 through the movie.

Once Kim is done grocery shopping, I’ll start making my juice & hard boiling eggs.  I woke up just before 10:00 am.  I thought it was Monday & I had wasted my day, then I heard Kim in the kitchen & asked “Kim, what day is it?”  She replied that it was Sunday, I started putting away my exercise clothes.

THE MAYFIELD FOUR

I know I did a Myles Kennedy post, but this is the band he fronted before “Alter Bridge”.  They were a 4 member band from I don’t know where in America?  I saw them once in 1999 I think it was?  The line-up in order was “The Mayfield Four”, “The Watchmen”, & “Big Wreck”.  The Mayfield Four came onstage & I remember that the entire time the singer/guitarist, Myles Kennedy, had his left leg bouncing to the rhythm for each song.  That’s likely when he laid down the inaudible background singing part for the 2nd “Big Wreck” album on one of the songs.

The Mayfield Four only released 2 albums with only the 2nd album available on iTunes.  I must’ve bought the 1st album at the show….

1998   THE FALLOUT

2001   SECOND SKIN (On iTunes)

LANGUAGE!!!

Alter Bridge are writing their 6th album right now & still when I tell people, I’m often asked “Who?”  Their Facebook page says “AB VI coming soon” with a photo of them together in a small room.  They initially said they’d get together to write in April?

The more you share this, the more readers I get.  No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.  I can’t tell who’s reading this but thank you! Word of mouth is the only way of promoting this.

I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “Concrete & Gold” followed by “Lamb of God/Burn the Priest” the album “Legion XX”

Woke up at 5:30 am & listened to “Dead Sara” the debut self-titled album.  I did my exercises in silence too early for music.  I ate breakfast to “Metallica” the album “Ride the Lightning”

I didn’t exercise on Wednesday since I had a doctor appointment at the cancer clinic, so only a 4 day weekly exercise total; 960 pushups, 800 leg lifts, 400 crunches, 400 squats, 440 tricep pushups, & 160 back flexes.

The tricep exercise went from 100 to 120 Thursday & Today.

What the doctors told me on Friday & every time prior to that really humbles me.  This talk of me being a “hero”, “miracle”, “best patient”, etc. used to go straight to my head & inflate my ego.  Not anymore.  I prefer to stay quiet & humble.  Sure my body survived brain cancer.  I’m thankful for that & happy to be alive.  How did my body survive?  All I did was sleep 23 hours a day for a year.  My BODY survived cancer.

I survived & immediately pissed everyone off with my words.  Once you read them, you can’t unread them.  Thanks for forgiving me, I don’t forgive me!  I HATE that I became that person at the time, I wish I could forget it.

I don’t hold onto a grudge with anyone, except myself.  I’ll beat myself up over the smallest thing, just to take a lesson on what not to do.

I’m only 38, but I’ll remember every mistake that changed my life & remind myself not to do whatever it was in that situation.

The President can call other countries “shithole countries” & keeps his job.  Roseanne Barr sends out 1 racist tweet & her show is immediately cancelled.  This is a really messed up world.  No, I’m not defending either of them.

What happened to freedom of speech?  Is it now just for Donald Trump?  I don’t like what Roseanne said or whatever comes out of Trumps yap.  Why does the multiple time offender get to keep his job, the onetime offender lose her job?

I don’t agree with either statement but at the moment they have freedom of speech, I don’t have to like what they say but they’re both using their right, even if utter stupidity comes out.

iPOD

My dad & I agree on a lot of music.  I grew up on my parents’ music & I’ve exposed them to some of my music.  My dad’s iPod had died, so we took mine with some new music I introduced him to & stuff I grew up listening to.  Of course we listened to some “Queens of the Stone Age” & “Royal Blood” on the way to Calgary for the show.  Music I put on since he might be interested…

I fell asleep to “Nothing but Thieves” the album “Broken Machine”

I exercised to “Foo Fighters” the album “Concrete & Gold”

Emptied the dishwasher to “Dire Straits” the album “Brothers in Arms”

Kim calls me the human iPod.  My father & my brother are much the same.  When I was in the WRC & had exercise therapy, the radio was always on.  Somebody would ask our therapist “Who is this on the radio?”  Our therapist would ask me.  I’d respond with “Oh, that’s so & so.”  Once the message was delivered, I’d wait for 10 seconds & here the person’s reply to me.  “You weren’t even born yet!  How do you know that?”  I’ve got far too much useless trivia in my head!

Kim’s birthday on October 22nd 2002 (the year we started dating).  The Foo Fighters album “One by One” was released.  I bought 2 copies, 1 for me & 1 for Kim.  I also bought her a media stand to hold her CDs & electronics.

Kim’s much more involved with the fact that I’m alive at the moment.  From the instant of Tuesday, February 5th 2008, she was with me 24/7 until I was discharged on Thursday, July 26th 2012.  When she leaves for work in the morning, Brewster & I both miss her A LOT!

It’s 6 years from my leaving WRC & I miss her SO much each day.  Brewster starts to whine at me & the front door at 5:30 pm as if he’s saying “Is she coming back?”  When she gets home, all 11 pounds of Brewster nearly knocks her over!

I’m INCREDIBLY lucky to have her as my wife, she has incredible emotional strength & will power.  Guess what she told my parents on Tuesday, February 5th, 2008?  “He’s not going to die”.

THAT’S ALL FOR WHAT’S ON MY MIND & CANCER TALK!  HERE COMES THE POPCULTURE STUFF!

The weekend update is changing to a specific topic each week.  There’s not much music news on a Saturday.  There may be a story or 2 at the end?

I fell asleep to “Pearl Jam” the album “Ten”, followed by their album “Vitalogy” work up to pee & fell asleep to their album “VS”

I exercised to “Dire Straits” their “Sultans of Swing” greatest hits album.

Weekly exercise total; 1300 crunches, 150 pushups, & 40 back flexes

So in addition to my exercise, I’m now playing “bass” with Corey, his idea to help me out.  We’re choosing easier songs until my left hand is up to speed.  I get very frustrated trying to play guitar.  Before when I learned, I picked it up learned the notes and basic chords & I was good enough to sing & play in front of an audience.  I never really practiced it.  This week I’ve spent at least half an hour to 1 hour practicing.  It’s a love/hate thing for.  I like doing it, but I hate having to practice something I used to do for fun.  My brain knows what to do, my left hand doesn’t seem to care though.

I’m not playing an actual bass, I’m playing the bass line to the song until my fingers get stronger for actual bass strings.  That’s how I taught myself to play real guitar.  I learned bass lines on acoustic guitar to teach Rob how to play actual bass in University.

After posting on Wednesday, I grabbed my guitar again.  Managed to finally “train” my fingers into playing power chords & a few actual chords.  The change of fingering the chords is slow, but I’m sure it will come eventually.

I was getting a bit down but with Corey’s brilliant idea, me being able to do some of my exercises, & baseball starting soon, I’m in a much better mood.  Great call by Corey noticing I was a little stuck.

We’re learning one song at a time.  Corey & I are Foo Fighters fans.  I figured since we both know the song “Learn to Fly” & it’s pretty easy we’ll start there.  I don’t think Corey has ever sang but he said he’s willing to try.  He asked me, a long time ago if I could teach him.  I don’t know what I’d say other than repetition.  I was terrible when I started, but the more I did it, the better I got at it.  I’m pretty sure being in choir in high school helped.

This director is more known for action movies such as “Paycheck”, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”, “Transformers”, etc.  I’m slightly skeptical about him directing a movie about El Chapo

http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/news/michael-bay-in-talks-to-direct-hunting-el-chapo-movie-w474033

I was listening to a sports talk show Thursday night.  I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks the Blue Jays are set up for disaster in LF & 1B.  If this is what they’re sticking with everything else needs to be perfect!

Kim’s back is still causing her to be quite immobile.  She called & got an appointment with her chiropractor this afternoon.  She was laying on the laminate floor yesterday, with a wedge pillow under her knees, & an extra strength Tylenol.  Hopefully things get better after the chiropractor?

Sherry & James have been really good to us!  They kept Brewster for 3.5 years while I was sick & rehabilitating.  Now that I’m unable to drive, Sherry picking up our groceries & taking her sister to a chiropractor appointment today.  James is my computer guy & a flat out metal fan!  Sherry is there in a heartbeat for us if needed!

I shower after my exercise.  I stepped on our scale just to see if I had lost any weight, not necessarily my goal more of a byproduct from my exercise of being able to walk again.  The weight’s coming of slowly, but I guess that’s better than nothing.  Essentially I should be in the range of 215-220.  Right now I’m down to 233 from 265.  I was 260 when I went into the hospital.  The difference is that most of my fat went straight to my belly.  Before I was sick, I wore jeans with a 38” waist now I’m not sure what my waist is but I did have to wear a 40” waist a couple of months ago.

Not how I’d like to have the Blue Jays enter the playoffs, better than not at all I guess?  One game in Toronto against Baltimore on Tuesday.  Winner moves on, loser is done for the year.  If they had played better in April, nobody would have to wait on pins & needles for the last game of the regular season?  Instead of 11W-15L, I don’t think 13W-13L would have been out of the question?

Most hard rock & metal from the 1980s wasn’t ever my thing.  I was born in 1980, & that wasn’t the music I was exposed to.

I really like “The Agonist” new album “Five”

Whenever I see something like this I think to myself “If civilians didn’t carry guns, would the police pull they’re gun out?  Probably if the perpetrator had a knife.  Would they shoot if not needed?  Wait were you there, do you know exactly what took place?”

If you think the police will shoot you, don’t call them & don’t cause any harm to anyone, why are you somewhere the police are needed, pretty simple?

I never got into “Nine Inch Nails” or any “industrial metal” for that matter

The “Alter Bridge” album that’s released on Friday should be right up my alley!!!!!!!

BRAIN CANCER vs. ALS

I’d do more but that’s a TON of links to load. Sorry if they double, I’ll try to fix them but no guarantee? My back is annoying but I increase my exercise to my “normal” total daily!

I fell asleep to 2 albums, the 2 most recent albums by “Candlebox” first “Love Stories & Other Musings” from 2012. Then the album “Disappearing in Airports” released in April of 2016. Woke up in the middle of the night to pee, gotta stop that, & put on “Chevelle” the new album “The North Corridor”

I exercised to “Portal” the album “Blood Red Tape” My brother was listening to them in his car when we were with him. I think he said they’re an independent group from Alberta?

They have 3 albums on iTunes at the moment. This is the only one I’ve purchased so far.

https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/blood-red-tape/id292933756

This is for anyone & everyone who might find this interesting! Please help me out if you don’t mind? I’ve been sharing this publically on my page, I don’t think it’s helping? Please do what you can to spread the word?

Brain cancer & ALS aren’t a competition. This is how I look at it though, in my situation. I could have survived or died because of brain cancer. I don’t know much about ALS. From what I know, it ends poorly, to put it lightly. Surviving brain cancer I can work on things, everything. You can look at that as overwhelming or just start somewhere & chip away at it as long as you can. ALS, from what I know, is more of a “OH MY GOODNESS! What’s going to go first?” Once it’s gone you can’t really do anything about it, that would be terrifying to me! Sure I felt overwhelmed & angry at first, but I’m alive, I can work on myself, mentally & physically. Eventually it COULD be fine? Sure the odds are stacked against me. Do you gamble? The odds are stacked against anyone in a casino playing any game. I’m alive, it could be worse.

I have to admit, after 2 weeks of just stretching & resting my back, it’s difficult to get back into my routine of exercise, food, blog, TV. For years that was easy, sweaty, but easy & somewhat gratifying. I had never enjoyed exercising, especially cardio! I can ride an exercise bike forever, walking with my walker seems like too much effort for very little gain to me. When I lived at my parents place the recumbent exercise bike was in the basement. I’d pop in a “Lord of the Rings” movie & pedal for 3 hours no problem, I can still bike for an hour or more.

I get that musicians want to share what influenced them by doing a cover song. I loved playing cover songs live! That meant I didn’t have to write lyrics, just remember better lyrics. Foo Fighters do this for the majority of their B Sides on singles. You get a single from the album, a live song & either a cover song or a song that was cut from the album. Here are some original songs followed by their cover song by someone else. Some are good, some are OK, some are terrible, & some are “OK, why mess with a classic?”

Almost forgot about this one!

^^All of this is just off the top of my head!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO THE AMERICANS/OUR NEIGHBOURS TO THE SOUTH

And happy “Sharknado: The 4th Awakens”. I wish I was joking, but I’m not. It should be on whatever science fiction channel you have on July 31st?

I fell asleep to“Pentatonix” their self titled debut album of original material. They have 3 previous shorter albums of cover songs.

I exercised to “Bad Religion” about 20 of 22 songs from the album “All Ages”, then about 5 songs from the album “Under the Table & Dreaming” by the “Dave Matthews Band”, then 2 songs from “Dire Straits” the album “Love Over Gold”

I procrastinated a bit by listening to “Foo Fighters” album “Sonic Highways”

Remember most of this is just about me bombing around in a wheelchair, currently t the age of 36, I had stage 4 brain cancer at the age of 28 & I’ve been in a wheelchair since Tuesday, February 5th 2008, & I listen to a pile of music & I have played baseball from the age of 4-17 then I quit because my arm said I had to! Stupid arm!

I know there are people out there that have a much larger music collection than I do. I backed up my iTunes files the other day & I currently own 1180 albums on my iTunes + roughly 300/600 CDs I have yet to put on iTunes.

The majority of info on here is mostly stuff I’m interested in, there’s a lot more info out there that I’m not necessarily interested in. I urge you to look for info you’re interested in &/or let me know what you’d like to see here more & if there’s an artist or group I should know about? Feedback is always welcome!

The rest of our Sunday consisted with butternut squash soup for supper, along with Kim & I watching recorded “Shark Week” shows on our PVR. I think we have 2 or 3 to go still?

Upcoming bands we need to know about? I think I’ve shared this before as well? Sorry if I have?

Best Dave Grohl drumming moments 1985-2015

Dave Grohl released the album “Foo Fighters” 21 years ago today in 1995. He recorded the album by himself on every song, one portion of a guitar part was recorded by someone else.

Easily my favourite song on this album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Below……

I hope this “Alter Bridge” recently signing with a new record company, “Napalm Records”, doesn’t delay the already recorded 5th studio album?
