Friday August 25th we went to my parents’ house.  Mom’s birthday, we ordered Chinese food & watched the Roughriders vs. the Eskimos in Edmonton on dad’s 92” HD projector in the basement.  Yes, I fell in the kitchen getting out of my wheelchair.  Not the first time & likely not the last time that I’ll fall.  I’m fine, no big deal, so far, it happens.

Saturday August 26, Kim had a work BBQ to attend, I stayed behind to watch Brewster.  We watched “Deadpool” for the 14th time, & I’m not exaggerating that number.

Sunday was a lot of cleaning & laundry going on here.

Monday August 28, had some friends from out of town over.  Some in Regina for Guns n’ Roses, some who were just here for the summer break for university.

Tuesday night I was off to a metal show.  Saw ‘The Agonist’ from Montreal, Quebec.  Female fronted band with 5 albums to their name.  Not very many people there since it was a Tuesday.  Thanks to my younger but bigger brother for taking me.

Wednesday we went to have coffee & lunch with my mom.  They also had a few of my movies they were done with.

Thursday I slept in, like really slept in.  By the time I had showered & got dressed it was just after 11:00 am.  Mostly a free day here.  Hello couch!  I was flipping around the channels & saw that “Much Retro” was on, saw these two fossil fuel 1980s hits & changed the channel.  Too much retro, too retro.

Friday we went out for lunch & went to the mall, (I needed new undies, and no I did not poop in any of my retired undies).  Looked at some other stores.  Long time since I had been in an album store!  Tons of vinyl & ridiculously cheap CDs.  If I knew how to transfer vinyl to digital for my iPod & had room/money for a vinyl collection, I’d seriously consider buying vinyl albums.  The day ended doing a few things around the house, then to the couch.  Watched a bit of stuff on our DVR and flipped to the Blue Jays game, which I thought would be a blow out in favour of Baltimore.  Only 1 run in 13 innings for Baltimore who won the game 1-0.  The Blue Jays aren’t mathematically out of a playoff spot, but anyone watching the games or even score board watching knows they’re out of it.  Unless they win the final 27 games of the season (from September 2nd on) & rely on other teams to lose 10 games or more.

Saturday afternoon we went to Sherry & James’.  Our friend Gerry was in town.  He lives in Saskatoon & worked in the same office as Sherry.  He’s originally from Labrador & yes, he has the Newfoundland accent.

Sunday was the Labour Day classic in Regina.  Saskatchewan Roughriders vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers.  Next week the Roughriders are Winnipeg for the “Banjo Bowl”.  Riders won the Labour Day classic, & I think they have a good shot at winning the banjo bowl as well.  Nolan had a great way of looking at it.  The Riders have been winning the last 3 games by a large margin, Winnipeg has been winning by a few points.  We’ll see what happens I guess.

I have a very strange sunburn from the game.  Left arm, left side of each leg, & a V-neck burn from my jersey, mostly on the left side of my neck.  Why is this an odd burn?  The sun was right in front of us, & I had 2 people to my left.

Here it is, Labour Day Monday.  Kim’s doing laundry, I’ll be making a juice for the week, etc.  Like the end of most weekends, we’re just getting ready for the 4 day week ahead.

IF YOU’RE HERE FOR THE UPDATE, THAT’S ALL THAT I HAVE FOR YOU TODAY.

Since the Guns n’ Roses show was here on Sunday, August 27th, I highly recommend “Diemonds” to any & all GNR fans.  I’m not a GNR fan & even I like “Diemonds”

As of Tuesday, I’ve listened to Queens of the Stone Age too many times (20) since late Thursday night!

Go to 1:30 and the song should start in a few seconds.  All you’re missing is a long opening of echoes & reverb

I never shared any videos since they were all silent videos at the time.  Prince didn’t want to have his music free on the internet.  I don’t listen to him all of the time, but I’ll listen to him 4 or 5 times a year.

I’m still listening to Queens of the Stone Age, just not as much.

I exercised to “Big Wreck” the album “In Loving Memory of…”

What is it going to take to have Trump impeached?  How many times will we toss him a softball & he swings?  He doesn’t want North Korea to start a war on USA soil.  Great, that would probably affect us Canadians too.  But if any group of white supremacists wants to have a war on US soil against any one that’s different, that’s OK?  Can we please just get rid of him already?  I had brain cancer & survived.  If I were black or any colour than white or a part of the #LGBTQ community, which I fully support, & lived in the USA, I would probably be on the kill list, if not dead already.

When your President avoids any question, he’s actually saying a LOT!  Has STRONGLY implied that domestic white on black terrorism is OK.  Any person or group of another race hurting white people is wrong.  This morning I saw a report that he has stopped the funding of an anti-white supremacist group.  A group that helps people leave a neo-Nazi or KKK type of group safely if a person wants out.

Thanks Donnie, look at how much you’ve divided your own country.  People took to the streets on a random Saturday in August!

You want a travel ban?  I wouldn’t worry about most people visiting your country for a while.  You’ve pushed most people away already.  I have nothing against reasonable Americans, but Donnie is certainly an unreasonable one I would avoid, along with the KKK, Neo-Nazis or any hate group.  Thanks for taking your country back to the 1940s.

People send gay children to camps to become straight?!?!  I think it’s time everyone send their kids to anti-hate camps!

Diemonds released their last album in 2015.  If You like Guns n’ Roses, Diemonds might be just what you want to check out.  I’m not a GNR fan in the least, but Diemonds are AWESOME to me.  This is from their Facebook page.

“Never Wanna Die was released August 14, 2015, two years ago today. The album is dedicated to the memories of Alan Riches, Paul Mancuso and Vassil Mester, all one time members of Diemonds that passed away while we were writing it. We miss them. It was recorded with producer Eric Ratz in Toronto, Canada. We had our first experiences doing fun co-writes with Alan Frew from Glass Tiger (Never Wanna Die) and Ian D’Sa from Billy Talent (Ain’t That Kinda Girl) to name a few. We’re incredibly proud of its nomination of Heavy Metal Album of the Year in the 2016 Juno Awards. We’ve been lucky enough to tour this album in Canada, Japan, United States, and soon we’ll be able to add England, Scotland, France, Spain, Germany, and Austria to the list. Thank you for all of the continued support!! What’s your favourite track? Where do you want to see us live once we are finished recording our next record?”

I fell asleep to “Alice Cooper” the album “Paranormal”, “Diemonds” the album “Never Wanna Die”, & finally “INXS” their “Greatest Hits”

Yeah, bonus live tracks at the end of this album.

I exercised to “Royal Blood” the album “How did we get so dark?”

Exercise total this week; 500 crunches, 500 leg lifts, 300 pushups, 200 back flexes, & 25 minutes of planking!  Every day starts with me exercising, no shower, dressed in workout attire, & no breakfast.  Once I finish my exercises, then I allow myself to have breakfast, shower, put on clean clothes, & usually in this room to work on the next blog.  Yep, I hit my goal every day this week.

I do get quiet exhausted after my 60 pushups.  I leave them for the end since I’m useless after them.  I roll on to my side or back since it’s easier to breathe!  I start my exercises on my back, crunches & leg lifts, once I roll on to my stomach & do ½ of my back flexes, I’m breathing pretty heavy already!  I end up doing some of my planking for a bit.  Once the back flexes & planking is done, then I’ll do a set of 20-30 pushups, then fish with 2 sets of 20 or a set of 30.

After I shower, I check to see if my balance has improved with my hands hovering by my transfer pole.  Some days are really good, & most days are bad.  When it’s a bad day I’ll try a few more times.  That’s the reason for the wheelchair & exercising!  I need to start walking with my walker at least once a week, if not 3 times a week.  When I do, I can tell that my exercising makes a HUGE improvement each time!  That being said, I’ve still have a long road ahead of me.

THAT’S ALL FOR THE CANCER TALK FOR NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I completely forgot!  Thursday, July 26th 2012 was my final day in the Wascana Rehabilitation Center.  I was discharged in the early afternoon after my last physio session & a short meeting with my doctor, therapists, & pharmacist.  We’ll leave the details for Friday!

SHARK WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yah, it’s Shark Week on the Discovery channel.  I love Shark Week.  It hit me the other day.  Why are people so afraid of sharks?  Is it because they will bite & kill if needed?  Probably.  Well the seas & oceans are where they live, their home.  Humans live on dry land, that’s our home.  We go into their home uninvited to poke & prod them to learn about them.  If a stranger came into your house & started doing scientific tests on you, would you just sit by & let them do that or would you retaliate so much to avoid them ever coming back?  I would yell, swear, fight & act like I was right out of my mind with a baseball bat in hand!

I’m not about to welcome a complete stranger into my home at any given time to do as they please?  I wonder why sharks can kill people?  Oh right, that’s their self-defense kicking in!  The scientists doing all of these tests will say “This doesn’t hurt the animal”.  Great, how do you know that?  Are you a shark that has experienced this type of testing?  Oh, you tried it on yourself & it didn’t bother you, really?  The shark feels pain at the exact same threshold as you?  Tell me a better story, I don’t buy that one.

Then they investigate sharks in the deep ocean, where it’s very dark 4000 feet.  I wonder why those species live in the deep ocean?  I’m guessing part of the reason is they don’t want to be bothered.

It’s great that scientists & divers have a thirst for knowledge, but does anyone NEED to know what’s going on 4000 feet down on the ocean floor?

Our weekend finished with me watching most of the Jays game until it looked as though it was out of hand by 8 runs for the wrong team.  Now that they’re basically out of it, “Blue Jays in :30” is all I need to see.

Yes, it’s a regular 5 day week for us this week.  That means as of Monday, I’m back to my exercise routine.  I’d love to increase a few things, but I have to take my back into consideration.

I fell asleep to “Ed Sheeran” the album “Divide”

I exercised to “Halflives” the album “Empty Rooms”

Kim & I binge watched the first 5 episodes of “The Ranch” on Netflix Sunday night.  I love that show!  They swear, they drink, & they’re ranchers in their spare time.  We watched the other 5 episodes on Tuesday night, now we wait until next summer to binge watch the 4th season.

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YAY, back to working out on Monday.  I was so comfortable in bed, I stayed there until I had to go to the washroom, so until 8:00 am.

When I stopped using a catheter in the WRC, I was terrified that I’d pee in my sleep.  Thankfully that wasn’t an issue at all.  Me with a condom catheter is a different story.  The most unreliable catheter ever, they’d leak or just randomly fall off, they were awful!

My wheelchair is in as of Monday morning to be fixed.  Left break doesn’t do anything, I can do FANTASTIC right turns, & both of my arm rests are unattached!  I have a rental chair which is taller.  I almost can’t touch the ground.  The repair is free, but it’s $35 a day for the rental.

If you’re here strictly for the cancer news, that’s all I have for you today.

Just finished deleting stuff from my iTunes & iPod that I don’t listen to on Sunday.  The self-titled “Nothing but Thieves” is the most played album on my iPod at 50 plays!

Alter Bridge’s “The Last Hero” wasn’t far behind at 40 plays & the 2 Diemonds albums are in the upper 30s for the amount of times played.  I’m not a fan of GNR, if you are, I highly recommend “Diemonds”!

I just can’t get enough of the new ‘Paramore’ album.  Here they are playing “Hard Times” on air in the live lounge on Beats radio 1.

Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) interview on Beats radio 1.  Part 1 is 12 minutes long.

Part 2 of the interview is not available at the moment.

I don’t feel in any way that we’re entitled, as fans, to have a new Tool album as Maynard has previously stated.  I do feel as though, when Tool knows, we should know if they’re just going to tour & not record an album or if there is new recorded material on the way.  Until I hear whatever they plan to do, I don’t need to go to a show of theirs.  I saw them 3 times on the last tour in Edmonton, Saskatoon, & Regina.

I had a cell phone for like a year or 8 months, a flip phone in 2007.  I’ll admit that I taught myself guitar mostly on the internet.  I learned to read tablature on guitar.  I can’t read music despite my early, grade 1 & 2 in elementary school, taking piano lessons.  Playing in the school band for 4 years, then joining the choir for 2.5 years.  I’ve never had a formal guitar lesson.  I also didn’t have the distraction of a cell phone.  I don’t think I’ll need one.  If I’m at home, I have a land line & if I’m out I’m with someone who has a cell phone.

I’m going to put on my general manager hat for a second & pretend I know what the Toronto Blue Jays should do either at the end of July or in the off season.  1.  Trade Troy Tulowitzki for high end prospects & hand the short stop duties to Ryan Goins.  2.  Trade Jose Bautista for high end prospects give Dwight Smith Jr. or Dalton Pompei the outfielder spot after spring training.  3.  If they really want to, trade Russell Martin & give Luke Maile the starting catcher job while bringing up Ohlman to back him up.  I just traded $58,000,000 worth of older, right handed players while really spending only $20,000,000 on players already within the organization.  2 of the replacement players are left handed, & the catcher is younger as are the other 2.  Now all you need is to find teams that are willing to trade for older players!

I’ll be back later time for some “Royal Blood” & breakfast.

I’m dumb!  Largest understatement I’ve made in the last 10 minutes, I’ve been watching CNN.  It took stage 4 brain cancer for me to wake up & start taking care of myself.  The photo of 2 guitar players on stage is of my brother & I.  I’m the guy in a white T-Shirt.  That’s me at my heaviest 265lbs, no I don’t look that heavy, doesn’t mean it’s OK though.  I haven’t weighed myself lately.  I did about 6 months ago & I was 233.  I went into the hospital at 265 & ballooned to probably close to 300?  I’m lighter at 233 than I’ve ever been in my adult life.  The only problem is ALL off my weight went to my stomach.  I have T-Shirts that don’t fit over my stomach.  I may have to have a serious discussion with my stomach.  At least I’ve smartened up & eat healthier now, & 3 drinks are more than enough Friday or Saturday.  Before I was sick it was outrageous!  8 or 9 drinks minimum on Friday & repeat on Saturday.  I really don’t miss those days, I’m a morning person now.  I like to get up & get stuff done!  Then I’ll sit on my butt & relax, & if the Blue Jays are on TV, don’t even pretend that I hear you!  Hahahahahhahaha!

Songs I just wanted to play, & a few more when I filled in for a friend.  Pretty much anything guitar & vocal wise I could do other than solos.

WEEKEND UPDATE

If you like it, please share & subscribe?  If you don’t please give me feedback as to what would improve it for you?  I can’t please everyone but I can try.

Friday’s post wasn’t very good.  What would you like to see? (That I can tell you?)  Not much as for Music news yet this year.  This site had viewings in Canada & 3 or 4 people 38 times in the USA.  Please keep sharing people!  On Facebook we hit 79.  I can’t tell who is reading this but thank you.  As for who I see reading it on the website, all I see is the country & how many people from that country have viewed it.  If you’ve subscribed with your email I can see that as well.

Don’t feel as though you have to open every link.

Friday night was very, very tame.  We stayed home, had a meal of fend for yourself, watched the movie “Collateral Beauty” and went to bed around 10:30pm.  Good movie, just very slow all of the way through!

Saturday Kim went out groceries, while I cranked the stereo to “Diemonds” and did some dishes & cleaned Brewster’s throw up!

Sunday we actually went out for my cousin’s baby’s baptism.  A lot of my grandparent’s friends I haven’t seen in a whole.  I had too much lunch & Kim made the mistake of leaving me in the vehicle with peanut M & M, they’re long gone now.

Tomorrow I’ll begin some light workout finally.  I’ve hit my limit for claiming chiropractor appointments on my taxes.  When I saw him last week, he gave me the OK for light exercises!  FINALLY!

Listening for the weekend.

Ascot Royals, Big Wreck, Stitched up Heart, & all of the other stuff on here.
