Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Exercise total for 5 days.

500 Curls w/ 20 pound dumb bells

300 Shoulder raises/Chest presses w/ 10 pound dumb bells

1050 Crunches

900 Leg lifts

300 Squats

600 Back flexes

Exercises went well this week & I feel pretty good.  Got up by 6:45 am or earlier this week other than yesterday 8:00 am and stuff to do around the house first.  Kim made some mini-quiche things for breakfast this week with cottage cheese & spinach in them.  They’re muffin size, 1 of those in the morning with my vegetable juice & water throughout the day & I’m exercising.  Afterwards I check my email & Facebook, then I shower.

When I think about my cancer, how it affected me & those around me, I often think about a guy I met in the rehabilitation center named Nick.  He was born with cerebral palsy & doesn’t know a life without a wheelchair & a severe handicap.  He was very outgoing, confident, polite, smart, upbeat, & liked music quite a bit.  I couldn’t understand his speech & he couldn’t understand mine.  When we’d see each other in the hall or in therapy, Kim was always playing the role of translator for us.

I take my exercise VERY seriously.  I’m VERY fortunate to be alive & have the opportunity to work on my disability.  Nick is likely limited for life.  He lives in the Wascana Rehabilitation Center.  He knows he’ll be there for a long time & he understands that.   I was released & acted like a complete jerk for quite a while after my release, I should have been more grateful like Nick.  When I get down on myself or start to think something is too hard for me to deal with, I think of Nick.

He came over to our table in the cafeteria one afternoon, I was visibly not in the best mood.  Nick told me his story & finally said “Chris, I was born this way, this is all I know”.  My exercise might not seem like much to anybody.  When I think about it, I’m exercising for Nick since he can’t exercise for himself, he can play the drums though!  He learned in music therapy and recorded an album with the therapist.

The problem was, when I was acting like a jerk, I wasn’t thinking of Nick or what his life is like.  Now I don’t get down on myself so much, while always reminding myself to remain humble.  I think of Nick now more than I did before.  Unfortunately Kim & I either don’t remember his last name or never heard it.  If we did & he was nearby, I love to see him & hear how he’s doing.  Some people call me an inspiration, I find that VERY humbling.  Nick is my inspiration to keep going.

Suck it up fellow Canadians.  The vaccine distribution in Canada is EXTREMELY underwhelming.  CNN is simply reporting the news as usual.  Stay home!  I live in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.  I don’t know about “right now” but Regina had the most active cases of Covid-19 per capita in Canada earlier this year.  Please at least share this link on whatever social media you use.  Active cases in Regina are unbelievably high!

I don’t understand why so many people are worried about taking a vaccine?  Bill Gates isn’t going to implant a micro-chip in anyone because he doesn’t have to.  Have you ever used a phone, of any kind?  If you said “Yes” to that question, people that want to know about you probably know already?

I wanted to just play guitar on Wednesday but there was a baseball game that started at 11:00 am.  That normally wouldn’t be an inconvenience for me but that’s the time of day I can make some noise with my guitar & amplifier.  I still prefer to watch TV after 5:00 pm.  Kim’s done work, I stop playing guitar and either I watch a baseball game & Kim watches a streaming show in the bedroom or I play guitar until 8:30 pm while Kim watches something recorded.  Live TV does not exist in our house.

I played guitar on Wednesday after the game for what I told myself would be 45 minutes, turned out to be an hour & a half.  My left arm started shaking a LOT?!  That’s never happened to me.  My fingers will move uncontrollably on occasion but my arm is usually fine.

We got a delivery on Wednesday, a furniture piece for our renovations.  Kim’s been waiting for it for quite a while.  A round mirror above it and a tall green plant beside it will complete the renovations.  Those 2 items will have to wait until we get through this income tax ordeal, hopefully at the end of the year.

Buffet Table

I put my Matthew Heafy signature Epiphone Les Paul Custom 7 string guitar up for sale Tuesday afternoon.

$1400 Canadian obo.  Comes with stock active EMG pickups, a 707 in the neck position & an 81 in the bridge position.  Tuners have been shimmed and new GHS Boomer strings 10-60 are now on & wrapped around the bridge.  Certificate of authenticity included.  It’s been played a minimal amount since its purchase on February 2nd, 2020.  No case or gig bag included.

Side view

I shaved last night & trimmed my goat tee.  I’ll shower ASAP and I’ll be “All dressed up with nowhere to go”

Rock is NOT dead.  It’s not as commercial as it used to be.  Country & pop music or a combination of the 2 are what’s easily found right now.  Rock & metal never died, you just need to dig a bit deeper to find it.

Dave Grohl with Mick Jagger

“Royal Blood” releases another single from their upcoming album ‘Typhoons’ to be released on April 30th.

“Myles Kennedy” of “Alter Bridge” releases another single from his upcoming solo album ‘The Ides of March’ release date is May 14th.

Kim went grocery shopping a week ago.  She heard that the Saskatoon Berry Tea I like was being discontinued, so what did she do?  She came home with 96 tea bags of it, they come in packs of 4.  So she bought all the tea in China via Saskatchewan for me!

I’m not a fan of much digital stuff.  I can’t fix it, it’s expensive, & there’s always somebody watching EVERYTHING you do.  Even if you only use a land line phone, somebody knows what’s going on.  I’ve had a weekend of that & it’s annoying so far, I’m guessing it will escalate to being scary?!

After getting 2 scam phone calls at 6:30 am & then at 7:30 am on a Saturday, I gave up & got into the shower.  Flip on the old computron only to have (probably) the same hacker try to invite me to a “Skype” chat.  Jokes on the hacker, I have no audio or video recording material.  HAHA!  Kim has facetime, I don’t.  She’s got the cell phone, iPad, & Facetime.  I keep things pretty old school & cheap, so I can save money for guitars…and right now, income tax.

Kim went out early Saturday morning to the grocery store & the pharmacy as usual.  I’m on 7 different pills, some I take at bedtime, others in the morning.  Kim usually goes to the pharmacy every weekend.  I’m on 2 sleeping/anti-depressant pills, a day time anti-depressant, a pill for my bladder (I drink so much water to avoid dry mouth from my pills….solution, more pills), an anti-seizure pill, a pill for my under active thyroid, & a heart burn pill.  I’d likely be on a heart burn pill whether I had cancer or not.

Kim spent all day Saturday in the kitchen making meals to freeze for the week.  No more “Skip the Dishes” for us this year with the income tax looming over our head.  She forgot to get something for one recipe, she asked me to clean up as much as I could.  I emptied the dishwasher, filled it again, & hand washed one pan that’s not dishwasher safe.  I guess I peeled carrots while watching the game too.  Other than that I stayed out of her way!  Of course I put on some music while Kim was out!  It felt like a good time to put on the new “Rob Zombie” album

Saturday night I made my fish & my juice for the week.  Sunday was another baseball game & I made my eggs for the week.

My hacker struck again Saturday night on my iPod, I finished listening to the latest “Foo Fighters” album & it went straight to some “Queens of the Stone Age” that I own on CD from pre-iTunes era!  Good call hacker!

Quite accurate since I’m learning a different song from the same album.

This is more to mimic Dave Grohl’s signature Trini Lopez that was in production in 2004?  No internet, I’m SO not buying a Trini Lopez, especially one at $22000!  This would be an upgrade to my new & FANTASTIC Squier Starcaster.

A Core PRS Special semi hollow in the “Orange Tiger” finish.  An upgrade to my current PRS S2 Custom 22 semi-hollow that I bought last year & is now discontinued.

It’s new for this year with 3 pickups the middle pick-up being the new narrow field pick-up.  I don’t own any guitars with 3 pickups or any true/Core PRS guitars, WAY too expensive.

Another Core PRS upgrade to the PRS S2 McCarty 594 below

https://www.prsguitars.com/index.php/electrics/model/mccarty_594_2021  in a “Cobalt blue” finish

I mentioned I’d like a “Paul’s Guitar” by PRS last week.  If I really wanted one I’d get the MUCH more affordable made in Indonesia SE model.

These 3 guitars are never going to happen.  I guessing the total before tax would be $17500?  I have an amount I’ll spend on a guitar & all 3 of these guitars above are FAR beyond that amount?!?!

These 4 guitars below are GREATLY desired and attainable over many years.  The Schecter Tempest is out, I don’t need that many guitars.

None of this happens until I know where we sit with the income tax payments and the sale of my Matt Heafy signature 7 string (hopefully soon, it’s not listed yet) that I’m not comfortable with at all despite my efforts.  Sweet guitar but it’s more than a handful for me.

https://www.long-mcquade.com/162880/Guitars/Electric-Guitars/Paul-Reed-Smith/S2-McCarty-594-Electric-Guitar-with-Gigbag—Whale-Blue.htm   it’s expensive but I know it’s worth the wait now that I have a different model from the PRS S2 line.

Mark Morton from “Lamb of God”.  I prefer this “Silver Burst” to the colour in the video.  This guitar purchase is in limbo right now.  I like it a LOT but I wish it was more affordable.  I guess I’ll see how we manage this looming income tax debt?

The Godin radiator

…and the Sterling Cutlass.  Cheapest of the bunch, with things you don’t see on a guitar under $1500.

I know you see them a LOT, but I see them WAY more.  I’m certain that once I buy my last guitar I’ll be watching almost no www.youtube.com guitar videos but playing a TON more guitar.  I’m already cutting back as it is.

Kim told me to get a hobby when I was released into the wild from my therapies.  I found one but it’s too expensive for me.  Could be a worse hobby.  I could be spending the money on alcohol or cigarettes?  I’ll have to ask my doctor about claiming guitars on my income tax?

The 4 songs I was determined to learn in 2 weeks, won’t happen I’ve learned 2 of them & 2 others Monday morning.  I couldn’t play fast enough for the “Pantera” song when I was younger.  The “Queens of the Stone Age” song I could play when I was younger, but with VERY poor technique.  Trying to do this properly, in a different way than I used to do.

Kim amazed me again with an Easter supper for 2.  Ham, hash-brown casserole, broccoli salad, & mustard sauce.  Fresh peanut butter & chocolate chip cookies for dessert.  This home cooking might fatten me up at this rate?

Kim had Monday off, so I took it off too.  I was ready to sleep in & my iPod started playing a playlist early in the morning, which was good but I listen to full albums only.  Then I got another scam call shortly after.  My hacker is coming on HARD right now!??!?

Ended up watching the baseball game on a streaming service, our guide was incorrect from what the announcers said on Sunday.  Baseball channel was screwed up yesterday & a different channel was screwed up for 4 days last week?  This morning I checked the stats on my website & the numbers on the last 4-5 days all shot up drastically.  My Facebook news feed & www.youtube.com feed are REALLY messed too.  Am I paranoid or is this the work of a hacker?

Absolutely LOVING the new “Foo Fighters” album.  Why wasn’t this first song on the album a single?  Might be too shocking for some people I guess?  Look at that guitar though!

I’m really looking forward to this debut album by “Wolfgang Van Halen/Mammoth”.  The name “Mammoth” was what “Van Halen” used as a name before they became successful.

I “don’t know why” this date sticks in my mind but July 26 2012 doesn’t.  I guess it could be that this is the date that changed my life in seconds.

Yes, I enjoy listening to Norah Jones.

Who do you think sang this duet with Dave Grohl?

February 5th, 2008 might be a day I’ll try to forget but I can’t see myself forgetting it.  This is the date I passed out at work with stage 4 brain cancer, then I went into a month long coma after my 3 emergency brain surgeries.  I left my therapies on July 26th 2012, but I never recognize that date.  From February 5th 2008 to July 26th 2012 I lived in a hospital & Kim was with me the entire time sleeping on a cot beside my bed, and coming with me to every physiotherapy session I had.

While I was in a coma the doctor who no longer sees patients and kept calling me FAT afterwards, was telling Kim and my family I was done.  I was done, wouldn’t ever come out of my coma & the doctors should be more focused on harvesting my sperm.  WOW lack of bedside manner!

Kim’s sister and brother-in-law were very kind in taking in Brewster for the entire time.  Sherry (Kim’s sister) would bring Brewster to the visiting room in the hospital & then to my rehabilitation hospital to see us!  Seeing them was always a BIG deal for me, or whenever anyone came to visit me was a BIG deal!

On Wednesday, my parents were here.  Dad’s installing our light fixtures for us, he did 2/7 on Wednesday.  They brought over my mother’s old acoustic guitar.  While they were here she played mine while I showed her some stuff & made a diagram of a piano & how it relates to a guitar.  I don’t think my mother has touched her guitar since I was a very young teenager?  After they left I took about 8 pounds of dust off of it, cleaned up the whole thing, conditioned the fret board, polished the frets, fixed a few minor things & put new strings on it.

These will be my 2 final guitars I plan to purchase, S2 McCarty 594 and the Tempest by Schecter.  Purchased in that order.  I guess the Tempest style has been around since 1981 with tweaks along the way, there is a special 40th anniversary model, I’m just shooting for the white Tempest with black accents & binding.  The McCarty 594 was introduced into the S2 line of PRS last year.  All of this calms my FOMO.

Sorry, I just REALLY like looking at them.  I’ve seen & played other guitars that look appealing to me, but these two have that thing that makes me want to own them.  I hope they’re both around for a long time since I don’t really want to research another guitar.  These would fall into the affordable “dream guitars”.

I had to miss my exercise on Thursday.  My weights and yoga mat are in a closet guarded by multiple boxes of light fixtures.  Instead of getting up early, hoovering my breakfast, & exercising.  I got up around 9:30 am, showered, had breakfast, emptied the dishwasher, & played guitar!  Nice mid-way break in the week!  Didn’t really need a break, but it was welcome.  Moved the boxes in the evening to get out my exercise mat to do my exercises this morning.

Today is the day folks “Foo Fighters” released their new album at Midnight Eastern time last night ‘Medicine at Midnight’.  They made me want to learn guitar and finally join a rock band 20 years ago!

It’s only Saturday & I’ve been playing my 7 string only.  I finally got it figured out.  I was using it just to learn songs, I only learned a few simple 7 string songs.  I’m just coming up with my own stuff and thinking “Ooooh, I like that!”  I took a break, at 4:30 pm, to play some other guitars & help Kim put our living room back together.  Then more 7 string action!  I did learn a “Dream Theater” riff, not the entire song.  I’ve never been or tried to be a progressive metal player, or a student at the Berkley School of Music like “Dream Theater” or “Big Wreck”.  Had to make the 7 string work for me, although this was fun to learn!  Kim was still putting the living room together on Sunday.  It’s usually better if I stay out of the way with my wheelchair.  So I came into this room and spent the entire day playing & practicing guitar, it’s what I spend my free time doing.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to own this Schecter guitar, there’s nothing I don’t like about it!  Kim asked me how many tunings there are for a guitar last week.  Well there’s typically 6 strings on a guitar with the musical alphabet of A-G sharp.  This guy explains tunings better than I could.

So in the video he covers down tuning & drop tuning.  I like to play in open tunings, different standard tunings, flat tunings, a fusion tuning, & a very small handful of alternate tunings.  My 7 string will stay in flat tuning for a 7 string, and anything can easily do a drop tuning.

The ultimate guitar tab site lists 19 tunings for 6 string guitars.  Then you have baritone & soprano guitars, well as 7, 8, 9, & 10 string guitars.  Anything beyond one 7 string guitar is a little much for me.

I’m no Ian Thornley, Jimmy Page, Mark Tremonti, Myles Kennedy, Mike McCready, Stone Gossard, Kim Thayill, Dimebag Darrell, John Petrucci, Steve Vai, etc.

I’ve seen and played a TON of other guitars.  I pretty much stumbled on to the Schecter Tempest, it called out to me & said “Please take me to your home???”  If Kim has taught me anything, it’s to listen, pay attention, and act!  So I’ve listened & paid attention, now I just need to shake Kim upside down & rummage through the couch to see if there’s guitar money hiding somewhere for the Schecter, PRS S2, and the Squier.  I’m pretty sure Kim’s pockets aren’t that deep & we haven’t had anyone rich or famous over because of Covid….yeah, I’m gonna go with Covid on that one….this has NOTHING to do with the fact that we don’t know anyone rich or famous at all.

I remember seeing a wall in a warehouse full of the guitars for “Pearl Jam” in a magazine.  There had to be at least 70 guitar cases in that photo.  Each guitar case had a piece of tape on it with the tuning of the guitar inside.  If you ever see “Big Wreck” live, there’s a guitar rack or 4 with 15 different guitars, you can usually tell how many songs they’ll play if you can count the guitars on the rack.  I think they have one song in standard tuning, 2 songs in drop D flat, & one in standard flat over 6 albums.  When I was younger (20s) I tuned my guitar to an open “C” tuning, I learned the intro to one Big Wreck song, just after I started playing guitar.  It took me a week to figure out the intro, I was not so SMRT.

This Schecter is cheaper to purchase than the pretty blue PRS S2, but it just wouldn’t be the same.  I grappled with that a LOT last week.  Kim even liked the Schecter guitar, that’s rare, she never makes a positive comment on ANY guitar.  My dream guitars (PRS Core models of Paul’s Guitar, Mark Tremonti PRS Core & Dave Grohl’s DG-335 by Gibson) are beyond the realm of possibility for me.  I’ve been thinking about the Schecter for too long to just dismiss it.  There’s always another Squier Stratocaster, they aren’t as appealing as this one is to me, but I personally don’t value any Stratocaster as much as I do the Schecter Tempest.  I’ll buy the PRS S2 McCarty 594 followed by the Schecter Tempest.  In the sound clips I heard, the Schecter coil splitting actually seems to make a “sonic” difference.  I’ve been told it’s a healthier hobby by a friend of mine that plans to buy a nice BBQ grill.  It may be true, but Kim disagrees, as far as finances go.

This Squier is not a traditional looking Stratocaster while being under $700 even after tax, with stuff you don’t see on a guitar under $1500 retail.  The shape, wood & 3 single coil pickups are the only traditional aspects of this Stratocaster.  The colour, pickup configuration, roasted maple neck & fret board & a flatter fret board than I’ve ever seen on a Fender or Squier model, & painted headstock are all stand outs on this guitar.  If I wanted a Squier, I could get a Squier for $349 or even $250.  I know I’d prefer the Schecter.

I’m really tired of shopping online for different guitars.  I have no plans or desire to continue researching & buying any guitars, EVER.  I don’t like shopping in person or online.  This decision comes as a complete relief for me.  I guess I also saw the Epiphone Prophecy series before any final guitars, but they didn’t interest me.

I don’t want a guitar to go untouched for more than a week or ½ a week, which is VERY achievable right now!  I’ve probably passed this point already to most people, but I don’t want to come off as greedy either.  That being said I spend VERY little money on anything else now other than $5000 a year until 2030 for my RDSP that I can’t withdraw from until 2040.  I’m in the long haul for the PRS S2 as it is & a shorter but still long haul for the Schecter.  I’m just done looking into the specifications of any guitar.  I know what I want to buy & I don’t want to look anymore.

I know that I’ll be tuning guitars to other tunings, but at least they’ll be in the neighborhood of the same tuning.  I really don’t want my guitars to have the same “…colour & shape…” tuning, pickup brands, manufacturer, etc.

I torture myself watching videos like this of Core & Private stock models of PRS guitars that are $5500 & more.  This is an instrument store in the U.K. that I watch on occasion for gear demos of new products.  S2 line of PRS in Canada is a high enough price for me and most other guitarists.

I do find that I watch far less of this stuff now that I’ve decided on what I’d like to buy & what I already have.  I do enter a free lottery for a guitar if I come across something that I know any family members or any good friends would like, and of course are playing guitar.

I was thinking of selling something for a guitar, then I realized that I have nothing I would sell, other than 2 large bins of DVDs & Blu-rays that we don’t need to keep.  We did keep 1 ½ bins of our favourite movies & TV series.

I didn’t sleep much Sunday night & ended up sleeping in longer than I’d like on Monday.  Monday just after noon it was nap time for an hour. Woke up before 2:00 pm & played more guitar.  I slept WAY better last night after this decision of figuring out which guitar will bring me more happiness.  Probably not the best bang for my money, but better for me in the end.

I saw a survey on the local news here in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada around the time of Joe Biden’s inauguration.  The survey asked “Do you follow American politics?”  I laughed and said out loud “Yeah, it’s roughly 85% of your new cast!”

I haven’t listened to “Muse” in a long time.  I should fix that & eventually learn a few “Muse” songs on guitar.

I guess the singer for “TOOL”, “A Perfect Circle”, & “Puscifer”, Maynard James Keenan, got Covid in March & it has left him with lung damage.  I’m not expecting to see his return to singing now and we waited 13 years for the final “TOOL” album on their contract.  They did release 7 songs on their album, each song was over 7:00 minutes long, that’s nice.  I do prefer listening to a full album instead of single releases.  Although finding the time to focus on a lengthy album is getting hard to do.

?  hours of yoga over 5 days

I didn’t exercise this week.  Woke up at 3:30 am on Monday & it threw me off of my routine for the week.  I spent the week doing stretching & yoga every day.  I guess it was about an hour a day give or take 5 minutes.  I was just very sore & stiff until Thursday after my stretching, then I started to feel a bit better.

We went to my parents’ place for a birthday supper.  Kim’s was on the 22nd, Rachel’s is on the 30th, & my Grandfather’s is on November 1st.  We got to see people & visit!

This is one of the many reasons I think Dave Grohl is a genius!

I saw that on Wednesday, & grabbed my guitar, as usual, and said to myself “Self, it’s time to nail down the many Foo Fighters’ songs you know and play them until they’re perfect like when you played so many of them live.  Before you had cancer when your left hand wasn’t useless”.  So I did and relearned the lead intro & rest of this song…

…will you see me play it on Facebook?  Probably not, as we all know that’s not working out great for me at the moment.  All I can say is not anytime soon.

Donald Trump has stated that if he loses the election he’ll have to move.  He’s also never said that there might not be a peaceful transition of power if he loses.  So what’s it gonna be?  If he loses & stays, he’ll owe buckets of money to A LOT of people &/or likely go to jail.  If he wants to move to another country there’s a travel ban, even the Canada/USA border is closed right now.

It really surprises me that I’ve seen very few people here that are senior citizens yet they come & go without a mask.  Whenever I leave our suite I wear a mask because it’s the right thing to do.  Oh yeah & I don’t want to die!  Yet I’ll see many people in the hall or typically at the elevator, that live here and I’m the only one wearing a mask?  I thought the older a person is the more lethal Covid could be?  I guess they just don’t care?

Dear world,

Canada just celebrated Thanksgiving earlier this month.  Covid cases are higher than they’ve ever been.  Be safe out there and in family gatherings or prepare for a weird Christmas.

A concerned Canadian

“You don’t need expensive stuff.  You need stuff that sounds good” – Paul Reed Smith.  Then why are PRS guitars near the top of the price range for good sounding guitars?  I agree with about 85% of what he says, but why did he go into business to make guitars he could afford & price them so high?  I’m VERY happy with my PRS S2 but a Core PRS is priced higher than most people would consider.  If they had a job or not.

I still plan to save & order my PRS S2 McCarty in February.  If my other guitars weren’t that good & didn’t have sentimental value, I’d probably sell them for a real Gibson or Core PRS?  Once I order the PRS S2 McCarty 594 in February, I’ll hopefully get the amplifier & footswitch later on, and I won’t have to research another guitar or amplifier for many years, if ever?

I am researching affordable Stratocasters for a friend of mine that doesn’t have an electric guitar.  Stratocasters aren’t my thing but they are quite popular, and have been used by many big artists.  A DIY kit in many years seems like a good idea.  This is speculation after an attempt to sell our suite in 2022 & hopefully find a viable house at the same time.  I have a sick feeling we’re here for the long haul?  Please prove me wrong?!?!  Somewhere in that time I hope to find a part-time online job.  I’d like to continue exercising daily while earning a paycheck.  Something others likely wouldn’t want to deal with, like data entry?  Listen to music & punch in numbers for a few hours?

I have, what I assume is an American Fender Thinline “Semi-hollow Telecaster”.  I’ll have 2 PRS S2 models.  The closest I have to Gibson is their import/more affordable line Epiphone, which I have 2 of.

Grabbed my Epiphone 7 string on Thursday to work on this song for a while.  I can see improvement in my hand muscles after an hour or a little more.  More control of my left arm!

Do you know that feeling of when you’re about to make a “breakthrough”?  That’s how I felt on Thursday playing guitar, I didn’t want to stop I wanted to see what would happen!

I figured this out WAY too late in life.  If I don’t like a song or band, I just avoid it when possible or shut up so others can enjoy it.  Typically rock/metal and some pop is not for other people & is often turned off.  Kim & I are at complete opposite ends of the music spectrum.  She’ll be watching or listening to something I don’t like so I end up leaving the living room.

1,000,000 views of this video will make Paul Reed Smith sign the back of this one-off guitar.

Since I got the “Nothing but Thieves” album ‘Moral Panic’ to work last weekend, it’s all I’ve been listening to, other than the last “Trivium” album once.

We watched “Borat 2020” Thursday night & Trump supporters will HATE it.  Some, probably a TON of people will write it off as a stupid, raunchy, disgusting comedy.  In my opinion it was a VERY brilliant reflection of Donald Trump, his vision for America, & his supporters.  The world isn’t laughing at America, were laughing at the Trump administration & whoever supports Donald Trump.  Don’t watch this movie without doing a bit of research & if you can’t laugh at yourself in some way, you should probably pass on it completely.

Exercise total for 4 days.

500 Curls w/ 20 pound dumb bells

300 Shoulder raises/Chest presses w/ 10 pound dumb bells

600 Crunches

600 Leg lifts

200 Squats

280 Back flexes

1:05 hour of yoga over 2 days

Short week made for an easier week of exercise!  I’m just glad the week is over for me.  I’d do more exercises if I had the energy.  We were going walking for a bit.  I should probably keep that up & do some in our parkade with my walker on the weekends.  My motivation for everything is “Somebody’s doing better than me”

I’ve decided that since I’m Canadian, there’s little need to watch American news.  Whatever Donald Trump says or does has zero shock value for me and even if I try to avoid it, it’s all over the Canadian National news channel & my local news.  Even when I watch www.youtube.com I avoid it.  He wants attention & ratings, well I don’t care to see or listen to him & he’s not a Canadian politician.

There are a few people that think I’ll want another guitar after I order my last one in February hopefully.  2 reasons I won’t though.  6 electric guitars & 1 acoustic is enough for a person in my situation, it’s a hobby.  Second reason, guitars cost money, we don’t have any to spend on new guitars.  I guess this would be a 3rd reason.  Quality over quantity.  Maybe I won’t own an arsenal of guitars, but they’ll be well made instruments!  I did my research & I know what to expect.  If everything goes right I’ll order my last guitar in February & buy the amplifier at that time while I save a little more for the guitar that will come a year later or I’ll see what the wait time is then.

Even my current guitars were gifts based on my knowledge at the time, other than my Fender Thinline Telecaster which was a gift out of the blue.  I only purchased my acoustic guitar.  Wasn’t much research on that guitar?  I walked into a music store & asked the people I knew there what acoustic I could get for $500 when I was 21.  They showed me a few, I played them & left with a guitar about 45 minutes later.

Let’s pretend that moneys not factoring into this scenario.  I’d get 7 different signature guitars.  Dave Grohl 335 Gibson (Foo Fighters).  Mark Tremonti & “Paul’s Guitar” (Alter Bridge & PRS).  Sell my Takamine acoustic for either a nice Taylor or Martin acoustic.  All of them are WAY too much to spend on 1 guitar!  Nice to dream, then there’s reality.

None of them will ever “…be mine”

In reality, a hard maybe on a more affordable Squier, Washburn, or knock off Les Paul still at least a decade or more down the road.  I’d likely have to sell an electric guitar & that’s not happening!  I’m REALLY excited about what I’m getting & what I have!  I can’t wait for my ordered guitar to get here!  Nothing other than what I’m getting has been researched other than the 2 PRS Core guitars, that are just WAY to expensive at $5300 or more Canadian.

S2 Custom 22 Semi-Hollow Body Guitar w/Gig Bag - McCarty Sunburst

Then order this guitar & buy the amplifier next year.

S2 McCarty 594 Electric Guitar with Gigbag - Whale Blue

I see people on www.youtube.com with 20-90 guitars, 40 amplifiers, & 100s of effect pedals, who typically have a profession of either teaching, repairing, making, or selling guitars for a living.  If money wasn’t a factor, I’d stop at 1 amplifier, 8ish pedals & 12 guitars because that’s a LOT of guitars to maintain or even just change strings on.  Money is a factor and I’m VERY happy with what I’m getting & I’m done spending money on guitars.  I’m done guitar shopping/researching for a LONG time.

We both REALLY hope to find a house next year more than anything!  Until we’re in our 60s or 70s, we’ll be looking for a house.  If there’s nothing out there by then, we might as well stay in a condo.

EVERYBODY is broke & at home right now.  Welcome to the rest of my life.  Your situation is temporary, mine’s not.  Don’t feel sorry for me, I’m adapting or have adapted.

Other than the new John Petrucci solo album, I’ve been listening to In Flames Clayman album since it’s the 20th anniversary of the album.  The last Big Wreck album is getting it’s fair share of listening as well.

Kim called the police regarding her stolen bike on Thursday last week.  As you may know, the guy was arrested.  Her phone call was sent to a department (of which I don’t know) there was an answering service & she left a message.  We have yet to hear back, despite my asking her to call again on Monday.

I follow PRS Guitars on Facebook & they’ve been pushing out quite a bit of Private Stock guitars.  That completely makes sense to me.  A person getting a private stock guitar will typically wait 18 months for the guitar from the point they pick out EVERYTHING being used to make it & it costs whatever amount you make it!  I saw a random guy in the USA on good ol’ www.youtube.com, his wife bought him a private stock PRS as a wedding gift, & paid $15,000 for it!  The guitar I ordered is not even close to being that expensive!

I was like a 4 year old on Christmas Eve, Thursday night, I didn’t sleep that well.  Long story, PRS were about to send 2 identical guitars to Australia.  The guy at the music store called them Monday morning & told them my story about the delay before Covid hit.  I guess the sales rep he spoke with is holding back one of the guitars going to Australia for me.  It’s not finished being made yet, but it’s coming!  I’m just happy about their specifications for the wood choice & totally understand the delay, it’s just an odd year.  They were looking for a quality piece of curly maple without any blemishes for the ¼” top of the body.  Their quality control is why I went with PRS.  This is another example of quality over quantity.

S2 Custom 22 Semi-Hollow Body Guitar w/Gig Bag - McCarty Sunburst

They are 10-12 months backordered due to Covid & were looking/waiting for a nice piece of maple for the top of my guitar because the sunburst colour I ordered is a little tricky.  Despite this delay, I’ve been saving up & still plan to order this PRS S2 model in April or May….

This is a VERY odd scale length, & it’ll sound like a 1958 Gibson Les Paul while having a different (better I.M.O.) look & $1000 cheaper.  The Gibson brand name has also lost some of its credibility in the guitar playing community over the last decade or more.  This guitar is also wired better than a Les Paul, in that I can switch either or both pickups from Humbucker (double coil) 1958 pickups to pre-1950 single coil pickups.  Gibson doesn’t make coil splitting pickups.

Kim’s fine with me saving for this amplifier & footswitch for later on next year.  It’s not completely digital or analog.  It’s an affordable practice amplifier hybrid.  If we need cash it will come out of the savings for this…

Kim’s on the fence about me spending money on this, yet I’ve cut out EVERYTHING other than food & water for the guitar, amplifier, & footswitch.

With those purchases, I’ll be as happy as a pig in mud for at least a decade, if not much, much longer.  I looked at some other stuff, but nothing really appealed to me.  Maybe something small will someday, but those will be my last big hobby purchases.  Kim says I keep changing my mind, I think I’m very consistent on these 2 purchases.  I’ve researched the crap out of them & I know exactly what to expect from both.  Every time I look at one of them, I find a little bonus piece about them.

On the upside our ‘niece’ & ‘nephew’ were with us Saturday afternoon.  We made bubbles, picked flowers, coloured, did assorted arts & crafts had pizza, ice cream, they rode around in my wheelchair, & checked out a little “Paw Patrol”.  She’ll be 7 in October & he turned 2 in May.  He’s busy & wants to check out everything.  I followed him around & answered questions for him.  Our ‘nephew’ got me twice on Monday despite not being here.  He was checking out my guitars.  He turned my amplifier all the way up, I didn’t notice it until I played one note & just about peed.  Later on I grabbed a different guitar, tuned it with my silent tuner on, turned off the tuner to play it, & no sound came out of the speaker.  I thought my guitar had some electrical issue?  Nope that was a guitar he played with & turned the volume on the guitar to 0.

Sunday we went to or friends’ place for a BBQ & visit in the backyard.  Nice relaxing day & Brewster loves being outside on a lawn & leash free.  He was falling asleep on my lap on the way home at 7:15 pm.  He’s getting old!  Nowadays I fill my pill capsules for the week, then move onto his.  Always making sure I don’t mix them up!

I did play my buddy’s new Gretsch hollow body guitar on Sunday.  Oh that is a sweet guitar!  I personally don’t want to spend money on a full size hollow body guitar, but it was a really nice guitar!

There are only two other guitars I’d like, but are far beyond what I would pay for them!  A Mark Tremonti signature PRS in the brown colour that he plays on occasion.  https://www.prsguitars.com/index.php/electrics/model/mark_tremonti_signature_2020 & a Dave Grohl signature Gibson 335 (hollow body, DG-335)   https://reverb.com/p/gibson-dave-grohl-signature-dg-335.  Those are my “never gonna happen” guitars.

Watch this video from the 8:20 minute mark & it shows how great these people are & what they did with their earnings from the 4 day online guitar clinic!

Kim’s hoping we find a house next year.  As long as this virus deal is over, I’m all for putting our condo on the market again.  Our mortgage will be just under $200,000 by then which will make a difference, but I don’t think it will make a big enough difference.  The biggest issue is that it has to be wheelchair accessible.

We saw one last year but the housing market in Regina is weird/difficult if you’re trying to sell a condo such as we are.  Far too many cheaply built, new, vacant condos out there for ½ the price of what we paid for this place.  We’ll be looking for something under $410,000 that is move in ready.  My magic 8 ball tells me the outcome is not good.  I think us moving is just as unlikely as me getting either of those signature guitars, never going to happen.

As for practicing guitar I’m good & just working on learning songs I like & that are fun to play.  Even have a handful of stuff for my brother’s band to use & expand on.  Other than that these will be my focus until I learn the next batch of songs.

And I try to always go through scales, finger/picking exercises, & other songs I’ve learned.  The more I play a song, the better it sounds!  Like this song is already good enough, but the more I play it the more automatic it becomes.

I fell asleep to “Stone Temple Pilots” the album “Purple”

I exercised to “Dave Matthews Band” the album “Under the Table & Dreaming”

Canada got its country wide address from our leader on Monday regarding the virus.  I figured I should mention something about it.  Stay home, stay safe, don’t be a hero until called upon, let the professionals dictate the plan of action.  Don’t freak out, it won’t solve anything.  There’s a time to question authority, this isn’t the time.  Most importantly BE A GLOBAL CITIZEN….FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We’ll check with our neighbors to see if they need help with anything every few days.

It’s shortly after 6:00 am Sunday morning.  Brewster is my child but also a mama’s boy.  Kim’s on a girl trip with some friends at a spa, his mama’s not home.  He sleeps all day, eats & then wakes me up at 5:00 am to get up on our bed.  I stayed up until 12:30 am.  I get up, throw on some clothes & brush my teeth as he’s growling at me like it’s the end of the world.  I wish he could talk, all he wanted was up on our King size bed.  So here it is 6:22 am, I’m wide awake & our 12 pound Bichon/Shi-tzu is curled up in the middle of our King Size bed asleep.

I’ve noticed the past 2 or 3 weeks that I tend to go to bed earlier & sleep in a little bit later.  It used to be I’d go to bed around 10:30 or 11:00 pm and get up before 8:00 am.  Now it’s 9:30-10:00 pm and sleep until 8:30-9:00 am.  I don’t know if my age is catching up with me, if I’m more tired from a more intense workout, or if it’s finally the effects of cancer wearing off & now I sleep more.  I was on some HEAVY sleeping pills while I was in my rehab.  Strong enough to take down a horse for 4 days, me maybe 2 hours if I was lucky.  Sucks being that tired every day when you have a full day of physiotherapy the next day.

We watched “Bombshell” Friday evening & on Saturday I watched “Willow” that I haven’t seen since ‘Laser Discs’ were a big deal.

I was appalled…again…by the events that took place in 2015 at FOX.  Absolutely disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You’re likely bored with me blabbing on about guitars by now.  They’re brand new to me again but I know more about them.  For me it’s reconnecting with an old friend.

Paul Reed Smith is a guitar player, builder, and began fixing guitars in high school, so I fully believe he knows what he wants out of a guitar & knows what any guitar player would want!  I’m sold on that company!  If I had the cash & was beginning to get into guitar, I’d eventually get 3 PRS SE models & one random acoustic hybrid.

I was going back to buying CDs, but the more I think about, it I’ll switch to streaming music from iTunes, I hate streaming music with a passion!  I’ll save my pennies for a “Paul’s Guitar SE” in the “Aqua” colour if it’s still around.  Decision made, this could take a decade or more?  I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t think it was worth it.  Brewster’s health, hopefully a house sooner than later, & a trip for Kim before a new guitar happens.   Kim helped me pay for the more expensive PRS S2 I ordered, so fair is fair (I have no desire to travel, I just want to be with my wife).  Why, you ask?  I’m not a very interesting guy, but my tastes are expensive.  My AWESOME wife, rum, & guitars.

There’s a PRS guitar that does even more cool stuff, it’s not something I’m interested in though, as are any other guitars.  All this really means is that I’ve made the decision to get it for the different pickups, bridge, more electronic options & colour difference.  So instead of saying “probably not” in the future, I’ll say “hopefully so” in the future.  I do have a rule about having too many guitars though.  If a guitar sits un-played for more than 2 days, there’s no need for it!  Right now the 4 electrics & are used daily, acoustic probably 4 days a week as I’m watching TV.

I bring in under $40,000 a year at the moment.  My RDSP which triples the $5000 limit I’m allowed to contribute annually until I’m 50 is locked in & untouchable until I’m 60 (20 years).  Saving for an “inexpensive”/”low end” $1300 PRS SE could take quite a few years.  It’s still in the distant future but it’s no longer a maybe for me.

January 25th, 2008 was the last time I played on a stage.  It was very fitting in retrospect.  We played for free with all of the funds going to a charity that helps with medical needs for the disabled.  My family ended up receiving $11,000 from that charity to put towards an $18,000 wheelchair van Kim & I used for 3 years.  I lived in the hospital full time & sometime in 2009 (after my birthday in January) I moved to the Wascana Rehabilitation Center where I eventually was able to go home on the weekends, to eventually going home overnight after my physio & other therapies were done by 4:00 pm.

As for a house, well we’ve had a lot of showings but no offers at all & despite that there’s one possibility on the market for us.  I’m not holding my breath on getting a house.  It’ll happen when it happens.  We talked about it last night.  With what’s going on in the world right now, the house contract ends at the end of March & we’re off of the market then.

Kim is likely very happy that sports in general have been suspended & the baseball regular season has been postponed until mid-May at least.

2 of my guitars took a little tumble today, nothing too drastic just cosmetic scars.  My Epiphone “Grohl” Explorer is missing a small chunk of the body & my new 7 string has a little dent on the back of the neck.  I tuned them up, played them & nothing to worry about.  My Fender Telecaster is the only electric out of 4 that still looks new other than the autograph.

I may have bought my acoustic guitar before this but this is my electric Epiphone Explorer from Kim in our first year of dating on Christmas of 2002.  Meet my “Grohl” (he’s photographed with a Gibson Explorer on Foo Fighters’ 3rd album, There is Nothing Left to Lose).  My guitar has a nasty scratch on the back of it, I guess all that means is that it has been played a lot, & it was my backup or differently tuned guitar to “Kermit”.

YAY, new “Lamb of God” tune!!!  Album out May 8th.

I had to listen to some “Foo Fighters”, “Alter Bridge”, & “Big Wreck” after writing all of this.

I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “Concrete & Gold”, followed by “Big Wreck” the album “The Pleasure & the Greed”

I exercised to “Alter Bridge” the album “One Day Remains”

I’m back to it this week.  I guess my body either needed a break or took longer to recover than I had anticipated?

Little bit past the age of 14 human years & as of this past Friday night Brewster’s on heart medication every 12 hours & a humidifier from Amazon.ca has been ordered.  We needed a humidifier for the guitars but this sped up the process.

A little after 9:00 pm on Friday we were watching TV.  Kim stopped everything to listen to Brewster, who was on the floor in his bed by her.  His breathing was weird, he sounded very congested.  Kim took him to the vet ASAP.  He had X-Rays done, temperature, & blood work.  His heart is enlarged, it’s pushing on his trachea causing him to cough, & his congestion was due to fluid in his lungs.  He has 30 days of medication for the fluid in his lungs, then the rest of his life on heart medication.  He goes back in 3 weeks for a checkup.

They didn’t get home until close to midnight.  I stayed up by the phone hoping all was OK.  All is well, he’s getting older though.

I’ve decided against upgrading my guitar amplifier.  20 watts through an 8” speaker is already louder than I’ll need now that I play at home.  Being in a condo at the moment prevents me from turning the volume up past 2 ½ out of 10.  I turned it up to 3/10 one day to see what one of the guitars could do.  Even that was too loud for me!  Amplifiers are much more efficient than they were when I was playing live.

I don’t like having a guitar I don’t play.  I have one I don’t play for a few reasons, I’d sell it to get a 35th anniversary PRS SE McCarty https://www.prsguitars.com/index.php/electrics/model/35th_anniversary_se_custom_24_2020 which is the cheapest PRS guitar built overseas but still $1300 Canadian + tax, if I lived in the USA it would be around $500-$800.  I prefer the colour on this but it’s not happening for many years if it ever does.  I assume these won’t have another appearance either.

I RARELY, if EVER, play the semi-hollow Fender Telecaster.  Very much made for blues or country music which I really don’t listen to or play.  It used to be all about the Gibson or Fender brands.  PRS or Paul Reed Smith has become well known for the company’s attention to detail & excellent craftsmanship after 35 years.  Gibson & Fender have both gone bankrupt in the last decade but have comeback without really changing anything.

I’ll be getting my 2nd guitar of the year in August (hopefully), & I’m still learning/playing the 7 string quite a bit.  The 35th Anniversary SE has totally different electronics from anything I own though.  Different pickups and 16 different electronic combinations/sounds.  I’m not going to have $1200 just sitting around to spend on a guitar so it’s likely a ‘NEVER GOING TO AFFORD IT’ situation.  I’ve looked at other guitars that just don’t suit my desires.  Guitars I’m not into or guitars I’d not play since they’re similar to what I have or will have by the end of August, which now seems “So far away”.  I wouldn’t just buy a guitar for the sake of buying a guitar!

A trip & hopefully a house have to happen first anyways.  If we can’t find a house this year, I give up on the house idea for a few years (not buy a guitar), Kim’s cool with taking a break from it too for a bit.

The Fender Telecaster is a treasured piece of art here & I keep it for sentimental value.  It was given to me by one of my very close friends while I was in my rehabilitation program.  I love the body shape of a Telecaster.  I love the dark wood stain body with the pearl pick guard.  It’s also autographed to me by one of my 3 favourite artists, Ian Thornley of “Big Wreck”.

I find the neck of a Fender very uncomfortable.  The fret board is maple like the rest of the neck, the tuning pegs are odd & I’m just not a fan of the single coil pickups in it.  I can get the “rock” sound out of it, but I really have to adjust the way I play it.  It looks so good though, for that and sentimental reasons it’s hung on the wall as a piece of art that never gets played.  It’s a guitar I can’t part with.

Fender makes about 9 different neck radiuses.  I’ve tried 4 & haven’t liked one yet.  It is a VERY nice looking guitar though!  Ideally I’d get a different neck bolted on with different tuners & different fret board, I’d also have a Humbucker pickup in the bridge position.  At that point I might as well buy an SE for what it would cost?  I’ve convinced myself that as a stay at home guitarist, making no income, a PRS SE is unaffordable.  I’ll have to hear my PRS S2 first to see IF I’d ever consider getting another guitar in the VERY distant future. I’d look at a PRS SE first, the most affordable PRS on the market & likely shy away due to the price tag.

Dave Grohl, Ian Thornley, Foo Fighters & Big Wreck have been my favourite musicians & bands since they started.  Myles Kennedy & Alter Bridge have been added to the top of my list when Alter Bridge released their first album in 2004.

I watched a youtube video with lead guitarist, Mark Tremonti, of Alter Bridge who has a signature PRS model.  He gives a guitar away to an audience member at the end of every live show now.  I just want the opportunity to see them live!

So why didn’t I order the PRS SE 35th Anniversary McCarty?  I figured if I’m going to buy what is likely my last guitar, I want something completely different.  What features do I not have that the PRS I ordered does?  It is semi-hollow, the different pickups split between humbucker & single coil pickups, it has a tremolo bridge & bar, it’s a different yet distinct body style, yellow to red sunburst finish, & it has locking tuners.

The guitar I ordered is not a super expensive “Core” model or a least expensive SE model.  It’s in their S2 line which is built at the American factory with a few cheaper parts from the factory oversea, where the SE is built.  PRS implemented this S2 line to have a guitar at a different price point.

Hopefully I’ll find a part time online job in the meantime, something simple like data entry?  I’d still like to exercise in the mornings for a couple of hours.

As far as a house goes we have to sell first & find a place for us in a set amount of time.  I really don’t see this working out in our favor?  May destiny prove me wrong please?  We’re only looking for a one level bungalow in Regina with 3 or 4 bedrooms, it has to be out there somewhere? 1 or 2 of the spare rooms would be used as an office(s). Kim wants an attached garage so my wheelchair doesn’t have to go through the snow, & I can’t work on finishing a basement, so that would be ideal.  As far as I can tell that doesn’t exist in Regina?

We did put up some artwork in the living room.  8 vinyl Foo Fighters albums in frames.  Just awaiting the delivery of the “Wasting Light” record.  Hopefully it comes this week?  This album was released in April of 2011 as I was beginning to walk with my walker, well relearning how to walk, very shortly after I learned how to stand in my rehabilitation program while holding on to something for balance.

As for concerts, they’d better be in Regina, Moose Jaw, or Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  Foo Fighters & Alter Bridge in Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba.  I’d like to see TOOL in either Alberta or Manitoba this year but I saw them 3 times on their last tour, 2006, 2007, & in Regina in 2010.  Alter Bridge are looking at doing some shows in western Canada for the first time, fingers crossed!

I’ll shut up about guitar.  It’s the only hobby I can do physically other than TV, movies, & listening to music.  I could ramble about Blue Jays baseball if you prefer but I can see that going over like a lead balloon!

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

5 day exercise total;  900 leg lifts, 1200 crunches, 100 squats, 300 back flexes, 50 pushups, 600 curls (10 pounds), 300 tricep extensions (7 pounds), 200 shoulder raises (7 pounds).  Stretching & yoga.

Much more yoga than weights this week.  I do all of my exercises out of my wheelchair. So yoga poses like downward dog have always looked like downward dog.  I do 4 poses & they really seem to help.  I’m not passing up the weights though!  Tuesdays & Thursdays are a minimum of 2 hours.

I fell asleep to “Melissa Auf Der Maur” the album “Auf Der Maur”

I exercised to “Eric Clapton” the Hits compilation “20th Century Masters”

Well today is the day we find out if the other buyers got the house we both dreamt about when we we’re engaged.  It changed a bit now that I’m in a wheelchair but it’s perfect otherwise.  I didn’t sleep well last night, trying not to get my hopes up, but it’s not working great.

I don’t wish bad things for anyone, but the financing for the other buyers has to fall out or something, then we have to sell our place ASAP & put in a really good offer.  A TON of things have to happen for us to have a chance at getting it, so we’ll see what happens today?

I actually took a pill to get that nagging pain out of my back.  I’ve had back issues since 1996 on & off.  The surgeon won’t operate since the MRI he saw was long after it last flared up.  Had to see a physiotherapist a few times & do certain stretches to get rid of it.  I still do many of those stretches.

I do my stretching, yoga & weights every Tuesday & Thursday.  I’ve been doing about an hour of stretching & yoga this week, then weights & pushups at the end if I have any gas left in the tank.

Doing more yoga I find extremely satisfying & beneficial.  Of course I fall, I have to fall before I walk!  The stronger I get, the more I impress myself ex:  While doing downward dog, I’m able to lift one foot at a time so that it’s parallel to the ground & hold it for about 10 seconds.  I fell once a few weeks ago getting down from that position.  I haven’t stopped doing it though.

This guy is my inspiration.  No I don’t know him personally.  I was an athlete that never tried out for any sports in high school other than baseball.  The coach from the basketball team & the coach from the football team approached me to try out, I had no interest though.

This is what I’m trying to do now.  He has canes & I’m in a wheelchair but we’re striving for the same thing…….to walk.  I’m not sure how long it took him, but no matter how long it takes me, I’m more determined than I’ve ever been!  That’s where my stubbornness is beneficial.

So right now I exercise 5 days a week, practice/play guitar, take care of the supper dishes, also my dishes during the day, write this, watch a little TV, currently house shopping (wheelchair accessible is hard to find), & hang out with my wife & dog.  Kim & I both keep very busy lately!

Brewster is at daycare today, he loves it & gets very excited when he sees the building.  Kim will pick him up after work & he’ll eat then crash hard until tomorrow.  He’s getting old but we get to see the heart of a puppy for a few minutes a day still!

I really hope S & M 2 comes out on an audio format.  The first one was GREAT!

Great news for “Metallica” fans………………in the USA.  Why are “Foo Fighters” shown on stage in the video but not mentioned?  Does this mean anything?

Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, so I’ll catch you on Monday!  We’ll be here & I’ll be avoiding potatoes, gravy, & dressing!

What can’t Dave Grohl do?  This is all stuff he’s done on his own.  The first Foo Fighters album, all Dave Grohl other than one guitar part.  Play is a 23 minute instrumental piece with 7 guitar tracks, 4 drum sets, & I’m not sure about the number of bass tracks.  23 minutes straight on 1 instrument or start all over again.  All finished recording in 3 days!

Pocketwatch I believe, was an album he recorded after Nirvana was no more, around the time of the recording of the first Foo Fighters album.  Probot is a metal album where Dave Grohl played all of the instruments, then sent the songs to his favourite underground metal singers.

How does one person do this while being in 2 of the biggest rock bands of my generation & collaborating with so many other legendary artists on other projects?  This man amazes me & has been my musical idol for a long time!

PLAY   2018

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Listen to the first 3:30 minutes to hear him talk about it, then forward to any part of the song you like.  He also doesn’t know much about piano or other rhythm instruments.

PROBOT   2004

He’s also produced an album, introduced me to other artist, played in 3 bands 2 of which were VERY successful, & has been a guest artist on many albums.  He also played drums for Tom Petty on SNL.

If you’re getting this through Facebook, give it a like or other reaction.  That’s the only way of promoting this site, since I’m not profiting from this in any way.
