I fell asleep to “Stone Temple Pilots” the album “Purple”

I exercised to “Dave Matthews Band” the album “Under the Table & Dreaming”

Canada got its country wide address from our leader on Monday regarding the virus.  I figured I should mention something about it.  Stay home, stay safe, don’t be a hero until called upon, let the professionals dictate the plan of action.  Don’t freak out, it won’t solve anything.  There’s a time to question authority, this isn’t the time.  Most importantly BE A GLOBAL CITIZEN….FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We’ll check with our neighbors to see if they need help with anything every few days.

It’s shortly after 6:00 am Sunday morning.  Brewster is my child but also a mama’s boy.  Kim’s on a girl trip with some friends at a spa, his mama’s not home.  He sleeps all day, eats & then wakes me up at 5:00 am to get up on our bed.  I stayed up until 12:30 am.  I get up, throw on some clothes & brush my teeth as he’s growling at me like it’s the end of the world.  I wish he could talk, all he wanted was up on our King size bed.  So here it is 6:22 am, I’m wide awake & our 12 pound Bichon/Shi-tzu is curled up in the middle of our King Size bed asleep.

I’ve noticed the past 2 or 3 weeks that I tend to go to bed earlier & sleep in a little bit later.  It used to be I’d go to bed around 10:30 or 11:00 pm and get up before 8:00 am.  Now it’s 9:30-10:00 pm and sleep until 8:30-9:00 am.  I don’t know if my age is catching up with me, if I’m more tired from a more intense workout, or if it’s finally the effects of cancer wearing off & now I sleep more.  I was on some HEAVY sleeping pills while I was in my rehab.  Strong enough to take down a horse for 4 days, me maybe 2 hours if I was lucky.  Sucks being that tired every day when you have a full day of physiotherapy the next day.

We watched “Bombshell” Friday evening & on Saturday I watched “Willow” that I haven’t seen since ‘Laser Discs’ were a big deal.

I was appalled…again…by the events that took place in 2015 at FOX.  Absolutely disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You’re likely bored with me blabbing on about guitars by now.  They’re brand new to me again but I know more about them.  For me it’s reconnecting with an old friend.

Paul Reed Smith is a guitar player, builder, and began fixing guitars in high school, so I fully believe he knows what he wants out of a guitar & knows what any guitar player would want!  I’m sold on that company!  If I had the cash & was beginning to get into guitar, I’d eventually get 3 PRS SE models & one random acoustic hybrid.

I was going back to buying CDs, but the more I think about, it I’ll switch to streaming music from iTunes, I hate streaming music with a passion!  I’ll save my pennies for a “Paul’s Guitar SE” in the “Aqua” colour if it’s still around.  Decision made, this could take a decade or more?  I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t think it was worth it.  Brewster’s health, hopefully a house sooner than later, & a trip for Kim before a new guitar happens.   Kim helped me pay for the more expensive PRS S2 I ordered, so fair is fair (I have no desire to travel, I just want to be with my wife).  Why, you ask?  I’m not a very interesting guy, but my tastes are expensive.  My AWESOME wife, rum, & guitars.

There’s a PRS guitar that does even more cool stuff, it’s not something I’m interested in though, as are any other guitars.  All this really means is that I’ve made the decision to get it for the different pickups, bridge, more electronic options & colour difference.  So instead of saying “probably not” in the future, I’ll say “hopefully so” in the future.  I do have a rule about having too many guitars though.  If a guitar sits un-played for more than 2 days, there’s no need for it!  Right now the 4 electrics & are used daily, acoustic probably 4 days a week as I’m watching TV.

I bring in under $40,000 a year at the moment.  My RDSP which triples the $5000 limit I’m allowed to contribute annually until I’m 50 is locked in & untouchable until I’m 60 (20 years).  Saving for an “inexpensive”/”low end” $1300 PRS SE could take quite a few years.  It’s still in the distant future but it’s no longer a maybe for me.

January 25th, 2008 was the last time I played on a stage.  It was very fitting in retrospect.  We played for free with all of the funds going to a charity that helps with medical needs for the disabled.  My family ended up receiving $11,000 from that charity to put towards an $18,000 wheelchair van Kim & I used for 3 years.  I lived in the hospital full time & sometime in 2009 (after my birthday in January) I moved to the Wascana Rehabilitation Center where I eventually was able to go home on the weekends, to eventually going home overnight after my physio & other therapies were done by 4:00 pm.

As for a house, well we’ve had a lot of showings but no offers at all & despite that there’s one possibility on the market for us.  I’m not holding my breath on getting a house.  It’ll happen when it happens.  We talked about it last night.  With what’s going on in the world right now, the house contract ends at the end of March & we’re off of the market then.

Kim is likely very happy that sports in general have been suspended & the baseball regular season has been postponed until mid-May at least.

2 of my guitars took a little tumble today, nothing too drastic just cosmetic scars.  My Epiphone “Grohl” Explorer is missing a small chunk of the body & my new 7 string has a little dent on the back of the neck.  I tuned them up, played them & nothing to worry about.  My Fender Telecaster is the only electric out of 4 that still looks new other than the autograph.

I may have bought my acoustic guitar before this but this is my electric Epiphone Explorer from Kim in our first year of dating on Christmas of 2002.  Meet my “Grohl” (he’s photographed with a Gibson Explorer on Foo Fighters’ 3rd album, There is Nothing Left to Lose).  My guitar has a nasty scratch on the back of it, I guess all that means is that it has been played a lot, & it was my backup or differently tuned guitar to “Kermit”.

I had to listen to some “Foo Fighters”, “Alter Bridge”, & “Big Wreck” after writing all of this.

I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “Concrete & Gold”, followed by “Big Wreck” the album “The Pleasure & the Greed”

I exercised to “Alter Bridge” the album “One Day Remains”

I’m back to it this week.  I guess my body either needed a break or took longer to recover than I had anticipated?

Little bit past the age of 14 human years & as of this past Friday night Brewster’s on heart medication every 12 hours & a humidifier from Amazon.ca has been ordered.  We needed a humidifier for the guitars but this sped up the process.

A little after 9:00 pm on Friday we were watching TV.  Kim stopped everything to listen to Brewster, who was on the floor in his bed by her.  His breathing was weird, he sounded very congested.  Kim took him to the vet ASAP.  He had X-Rays done, temperature, & blood work.  His heart is enlarged, it’s pushing on his trachea causing him to cough, & his congestion was due to fluid in his lungs.  He has 30 days of medication for the fluid in his lungs, then the rest of his life on heart medication.  He goes back in 3 weeks for a checkup.

They didn’t get home until close to midnight.  I stayed up by the phone hoping all was OK.  All is well, he’s getting older though.

I’ve decided against upgrading my guitar amplifier.  20 watts through an 8” speaker is already louder than I’ll need now that I play at home.  Being in a condo at the moment prevents me from turning the volume up past 2 ½ out of 10.  I turned it up to 3/10 one day to see what one of the guitars could do.  Even that was too loud for me!  Amplifiers are much more efficient than they were when I was playing live.

I don’t like having a guitar I don’t play.  I have one I don’t play for a few reasons, I’d sell it to get a 35th anniversary PRS SE McCarty https://www.prsguitars.com/index.php/electrics/model/35th_anniversary_se_custom_24_2020 which is the cheapest PRS guitar built overseas but still $1300 Canadian + tax, if I lived in the USA it would be around $500-$800.  I prefer the colour on this but it’s not happening for many years if it ever does.  I assume these won’t have another appearance either.

I RARELY, if EVER, play the semi-hollow Fender Telecaster.  Very much made for blues or country music which I really don’t listen to or play.  It used to be all about the Gibson or Fender brands.  PRS or Paul Reed Smith has become well known for the company’s attention to detail & excellent craftsmanship after 35 years.  Gibson & Fender have both gone bankrupt in the last decade but have comeback without really changing anything.

I’ll be getting my 2nd guitar of the year in August (hopefully), & I’m still learning/playing the 7 string quite a bit.  The 35th Anniversary SE has totally different electronics from anything I own though.  Different pickups and 16 different electronic combinations/sounds.  I’m not going to have $1200 just sitting around to spend on a guitar so it’s likely a ‘NEVER GOING TO AFFORD IT’ situation.  I’ve looked at other guitars that just don’t suit my desires.  Guitars I’m not into or guitars I’d not play since they’re similar to what I have or will have by the end of August, which now seems “So far away”.  I wouldn’t just buy a guitar for the sake of buying a guitar!

A trip & hopefully a house have to happen first anyways.  If we can’t find a house this year, I give up on the house idea for a few years (not buy a guitar), Kim’s cool with taking a break from it too for a bit.

The Fender Telecaster is a treasured piece of art here & I keep it for sentimental value.  It was given to me by one of my very close friends while I was in my rehabilitation program.  I love the body shape of a Telecaster.  I love the dark wood stain body with the pearl pick guard.  It’s also autographed to me by one of my 3 favourite artists, Ian Thornley of “Big Wreck”.

I find the neck of a Fender very uncomfortable.  The fret board is maple like the rest of the neck, the tuning pegs are odd & I’m just not a fan of the single coil pickups in it.  I can get the “rock” sound out of it, but I really have to adjust the way I play it.  It looks so good though, for that and sentimental reasons it’s hung on the wall as a piece of art that never gets played.  It’s a guitar I can’t part with.

Fender makes about 9 different neck radiuses.  I’ve tried 4 & haven’t liked one yet.  It is a VERY nice looking guitar though!  Ideally I’d get a different neck bolted on with different tuners & different fret board, I’d also have a Humbucker pickup in the bridge position.  At that point I might as well buy an SE for what it would cost?  I’ve convinced myself that as a stay at home guitarist, making no income, a PRS SE is unaffordable.  I’ll have to hear my PRS S2 first to see IF I’d ever consider getting another guitar in the VERY distant future. I’d look at a PRS SE first, the most affordable PRS on the market & likely shy away due to the price tag.

Dave Grohl, Ian Thornley, Foo Fighters & Big Wreck have been my favourite musicians & bands since they started.  Myles Kennedy & Alter Bridge have been added to the top of my list when Alter Bridge released their first album in 2004.

I watched a youtube video with lead guitarist, Mark Tremonti, of Alter Bridge who has a signature PRS model.  He gives a guitar away to an audience member at the end of every live show now.  I just want the opportunity to see them live!

So why didn’t I order the PRS SE 35th Anniversary McCarty?  I figured if I’m going to buy what is likely my last guitar, I want something completely different.  What features do I not have that the PRS I ordered does?  It is semi-hollow, the different pickups split between humbucker & single coil pickups, it has a tremolo bridge & bar, it’s a different yet distinct body style, yellow to red sunburst finish, & it has locking tuners.

The guitar I ordered is not a super expensive “Core” model or a least expensive SE model.  It’s in their S2 line which is built at the American factory with a few cheaper parts from the factory oversea, where the SE is built.  PRS implemented this S2 line to have a guitar at a different price point.

Hopefully I’ll find a part time online job in the meantime, something simple like data entry?  I’d still like to exercise in the mornings for a couple of hours.

As far as a house goes we have to sell first & find a place for us in a set amount of time.  I really don’t see this working out in our favor?  May destiny prove me wrong please?  We’re only looking for a one level bungalow in Regina with 3 or 4 bedrooms, it has to be out there somewhere? 1 or 2 of the spare rooms would be used as an office(s). Kim wants an attached garage so my wheelchair doesn’t have to go through the snow, & I can’t work on finishing a basement, so that would be ideal.  As far as I can tell that doesn’t exist in Regina?

We did put up some artwork in the living room.  8 vinyl Foo Fighters albums in frames.  Just awaiting the delivery of the “Wasting Light” record.  Hopefully it comes this week?  This album was released in April of 2011 as I was beginning to walk with my walker, well relearning how to walk, very shortly after I learned how to stand in my rehabilitation program while holding on to something for balance.

As for concerts, they’d better be in Regina, Moose Jaw, or Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  Foo Fighters & Alter Bridge in Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba.  I’d like to see TOOL in either Alberta or Manitoba this year but I saw them 3 times on their last tour, 2006, 2007, & in Regina in 2010.  Alter Bridge are looking at doing some shows in western Canada for the first time, fingers crossed!

I’ll shut up about guitar.  It’s the only hobby I can do physically other than TV, movies, & listening to music.  I could ramble about Blue Jays baseball if you prefer but I can see that going over like a lead balloon!

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

5 day exercise total;  900 leg lifts, 1200 crunches, 100 squats, 300 back flexes, 50 pushups, 600 curls (10 pounds), 300 tricep extensions (7 pounds), 200 shoulder raises (7 pounds).  Stretching & yoga.

Much more yoga than weights this week.  I do all of my exercises out of my wheelchair. So yoga poses like downward dog have always looked like downward dog.  I do 4 poses & they really seem to help.  I’m not passing up the weights though!  Tuesdays & Thursdays are a minimum of 2 hours.

I fell asleep to “Melissa Auf Der Maur” the album “Auf Der Maur”

I exercised to “Eric Clapton” the Hits compilation “20th Century Masters”

Well today is the day we find out if the other buyers got the house we both dreamt about when we we’re engaged.  It changed a bit now that I’m in a wheelchair but it’s perfect otherwise.  I didn’t sleep well last night, trying not to get my hopes up, but it’s not working great.

I don’t wish bad things for anyone, but the financing for the other buyers has to fall out or something, then we have to sell our place ASAP & put in a really good offer.  A TON of things have to happen for us to have a chance at getting it, so we’ll see what happens today?

I actually took a pill to get that nagging pain out of my back.  I’ve had back issues since 1996 on & off.  The surgeon won’t operate since the MRI he saw was long after it last flared up.  Had to see a physiotherapist a few times & do certain stretches to get rid of it.  I still do many of those stretches.

I do my stretching, yoga & weights every Tuesday & Thursday.  I’ve been doing about an hour of stretching & yoga this week, then weights & pushups at the end if I have any gas left in the tank.

Doing more yoga I find extremely satisfying & beneficial.  Of course I fall, I have to fall before I walk!  The stronger I get, the more I impress myself ex:  While doing downward dog, I’m able to lift one foot at a time so that it’s parallel to the ground & hold it for about 10 seconds.  I fell once a few weeks ago getting down from that position.  I haven’t stopped doing it though.

This guy is my inspiration.  No I don’t know him personally.  I was an athlete that never tried out for any sports in high school other than baseball.  The coach from the basketball team & the coach from the football team approached me to try out, I had no interest though.

This is what I’m trying to do now.  He has canes & I’m in a wheelchair but we’re striving for the same thing…….to walk.  I’m not sure how long it took him, but no matter how long it takes me, I’m more determined than I’ve ever been!  That’s where my stubbornness is beneficial.

So right now I exercise 5 days a week, practice/play guitar, take care of the supper dishes, also my dishes during the day, write this, watch a little TV, currently house shopping (wheelchair accessible is hard to find), & hang out with my wife & dog.  Kim & I both keep very busy lately!

Brewster is at daycare today, he loves it & gets very excited when he sees the building.  Kim will pick him up after work & he’ll eat then crash hard until tomorrow.  He’s getting old but we get to see the heart of a puppy for a few minutes a day still!

Great news for “Metallica” fans………………in the USA.  Why are “Foo Fighters” shown on stage in the video but not mentioned?  Does this mean anything?

Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, so I’ll catch you on Monday!  We’ll be here & I’ll be avoiding potatoes, gravy, & dressing!

PLAY + PROBOT + FOO FIGHTERS + POCKETWATCH = DAVID GROHL

What can’t Dave Grohl do?  This is all stuff he’s done on his own.  The first Foo Fighters album, all Dave Grohl other than one guitar part.  Play is a 23 minute instrumental piece with 7 guitar tracks, 4 drum sets, & I’m not sure about the number of bass tracks.  23 minutes straight on 1 instrument or start all over again.  All finished recording in 3 days!

Pocketwatch I believe, was an album he recorded after Nirvana was no more, around the time of the recording of the first Foo Fighters album.  Probot is a metal album where Dave Grohl played all of the instruments, then sent the songs to his favourite underground metal singers.

How does one person do this while being in 2 of the biggest rock bands of my generation & collaborating with so many other legendary artists on other projects?  This man amazes me & has been my musical idol for a long time!

PLAY   2018

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Listen to the first 3:30 minutes to hear him talk about it, then forward to any part of the song you like.  He also doesn’t know much about piano or other rhythm instruments.

FOO FIGHTERS   1995

PROBOT   2004

POCKETWATCH   1992

He’s also produced an album, introduced me to other artist, played in 3 bands 2 of which were VERY successful, & has been a guest artist on many albums.  He also played drums for Tom Petty on SNL.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “The Sword” the album “Ages of Winter”

I exercised to “Black Sabbath” the album “Heaven & Hell” Ronnie James Dio sang on this album, not Ozzy.

New Year’s resolution going well so far.  Walking with my walker & Kim’s assistance already more than last year!!!!  YAY walking practice…..BOOOO!

In Canada we have free health care for the most part.  Of course not everything is free when it comes to health care, which I understand & pretty much agree with.  There is one thing I don’t understand & wouldn’t even think of unless I was in this position.

Under the federal health care plan, I’m given $1000 once in a lifetime for a wheelchair.  I don’t think I’ve seen a wheelchair under that amount?  The wheelchair I left the WRC with was free from Sask Abilities, as long as it’s returned when you’re done with it.  Right now it’s here as a backup in case something should happen to my new chair.

What will a $1000 cover on my chair?  The inflatable cushion, which I had from my previous chair.  I think my new chair cost $6500-$7000.  Again I’m not complaining, I don’t think any federal politician would realize what the cost of a wheelchair is aka I think they’re a bit out of “touch” with a physically disabled lifestyle?  In that respect, I don’t think any of them would know that?

Not every other person is in a wheelchair, so it’s not a widely known fact that they are a hefty expense.  $1000 in this case helps, a bit, but really not much.

Dave Grohl scored the movie.  This is one of the 2 songs that have vocals.  The female voice is Louise Post of “Veruca Salt” a ‘90s band.  She & Grohl were dating at the time.  I had to get HMV, at the time, to order this CD as it was only released in the USA.

MICHAEL JACKSON

Everybody knows who Michael Jackson is I assume.  I saw a video on www.youtube.com calling him a metal fan’s guilty pleasure.  I don’t believe in guilty pleasures.  Just because a person tends to enjoy a certain genres of music, doesn’t mean they can’t appreciate a different genres.

I wish I had a gang that could also dance really well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kim had Monday off, so this is/was a 4 day week exercise total; 400 pushups, 300 tricep pushups, 200 back flexes, 300 squats, 400 leg lifts, 200 crunches.

I fell asleep to “Ed Sheeran” the album “Divide”, followed by “The 1975” the album “I love it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it”

I exercised to “Muse” the album “Origin of Symmetry”

I love the days I do pushups & tricep lifts.  For about 3 minutes after, my arms look huge.  After 3 minutes or so, not so much.  L  As much as I’m getting tired of exercising 5 or 4 days a week, it’s a necessary evil.  Some days I’m up at 7:00 am bright eyed & ready to go.  Other days I would love to stay in bed since I’m so comfy & warm.  Either way I know I MUST do my exercises & whatever else I can do around the house.  I can’t wait for a breather in December followed by a flat out rest for a few days around Christmas.  Come January 2nd it all starts up again.

I’m 6’1” when I got sick apparently I was shockingly tall.  When I moved to the WRC, they scrambled to find a bed for someone my height?  As my dad said “You should have told them you’re the runt of the litter”.  My younger brother is 6’3” and my 2nd or 3rd cousin, who is only a few years older than me, has to duck when he walks through a doorway.  I can’t imagine the horror on their faces if they had to find a bed for him!

I’ll see it in January probably.

PINK THE ALBUM “BEAUTIFUL TRAUMA”/CARPOOL KARAOKE

If it wasn’t a FANTASTIC album, it wouldn’t be on here.  I don’t know much about her.  She’s married & has a young girl.  She wrote the current theme song for ‘The Ellen Degeneres Show’.  Her real name is Alecia Moore.  She was born in 1979.  She seems to have been releasing albums for quite a while.  We have her “Greatest Hits…so far”, “The Truth about Love”, & “Beautiful Trauma”.  I REALLY like her “Greatest Hits” & “Beautiful Trauma” albums.  Her first album was released in 2000, “Can’t Take me Home” I still remember the first video I saw from that album.  Her first studio album to start the total of 7 studio albums.

Now we’ll go right to the 2017 release “Beautiful Trauma”

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music from this weekend!  “Muse”, “Dead Sara”, “Coheed and Cambria”, “I Mother Earth”, “The Struts”.

Friday ended with the 2 of us trying to clear off our DVR.  Nothing too spectacular.

Saturday was movies & more movies.

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday was CFL playoffs.  Eastern final, Hamilton vs. Ottawa.  Western final, Winnipeg vs. Calgary.  The wrong teams won.  It’ll be the Calgary Stampeders vs. The Ottawa Redblacks in the Grey Cup game, the CFL championship.

I’m pretty sure most Calgary Stampeders fans are the ones born in Calgary.  I’ve been to one game in Calgary years ago.  It was the middle of summer but it looked like Christmas.  Half of was wearing the red Calgary jerseys & the other half were people from Saskatchewan who moved there for work wearing the Green Roughrider jerseys.  Very divided crowd in a good way!

On Sunday I went to my parents’ place for waffles followed by the 2 football games.  Kim was in Saskatoon with Jolene for a girl’s trip.  Brewster & I were fine.

Check this good deed out by Metallica!

For such a long time, I couldn’t stand Metallica.  Since the release of “Hardwired…..to Self-Destruct” in late 2016, I’d call myself a fan, of their studio albums & the album with a symphony orchestra.

Dave Grohl pitched in to help the fire fighters in California also.

So “Toy Story 4” is a real thing!

Why wasn’t Pantera part of the big 4 in metal, to make it the big 5 or replace Anthrax?

The song “Bohemian Rhapsody” in the style of “System of a Down” Hahahaha

KELLY CLARKSON/CARPOOL KARAOKE

Yes, the first American Idol winner & I didn’t see even 30 seconds of the first season.  She was a waitress in Texas before her audition for the show.  I could possibly name 4 or 5 American Idol winners.  This is the show I always say I’m not going to watch.  Kim watches it & I get sucked in.

I have most of her albums or at least a few songs from the odd album.  It’s the album “Piece by Piece” that I have nothing from, I do have her Christmas album though, which I won’t post anything from….

2003   THANKFUL (Only song I own from this album)

2004   BREAKAWAY

2007   MY DECEMBER (Only 2 songs from this album that I like)

2009   ALL I EVER WANTED

2011   STRONGER

2017   MEANING OF LIFE

Between the last 2 albums she released a “Greatest Hits”, Christmas album, & the album “Piece by Piece”

Well first move of the offseason for the Toronto Blue Jays.  Aledmys Diaz traded to Houston for a minor league/AAA pitcher.  Quite a log jam on the infield for the Blue Jays.  I’m afraid they’ll have a $20,000,000 Short Stop as a cheerleader.  He’s got $34,000,000 for the next 2 years.  He hasn’t played since July 7th, 2017.  That will be a tough contract to move, unless he shocks everyone & hits really well?  As of right now he’s 3rd or 4th on my depth chart for short stop.

5 day exercise total; 400 pushups, 300 tricep pushups, 300 back flexes, 360 squats, 600 leg lifts, 300 crunches.

I fell asleep to “Dead Sara” both albums followed by the EP “Temporary Things Taking up Space”

I exercised to “Sandbox” the album “Bionic”

Yes, the singer is Bubbles from the Canadian TV show “Trailer Park Boys” the guy with the glasses

Monday was tough after 9 days off.  Oddly, it got much easier as the week progressed?  That was a pleasant surprise.  I could have just sat here & complained about a boring life, done nothing when I was released from my cancer rehabilitation.  Instead I chose to try & get myself as close to what I was before cancer.

Remember that whatever is going on in your life you almost always have a choice.  The path of least resistance was not for me.  “Yeah, let’s make it as difficult as possible” – idiot/me

After almost 5 ½ years, I’m finally seeing some muscle, not much but some.  After watching all of that www.youtube.com stuff on exercising, I can tell you it’s a flat out LIE!  If it was true, I’d have been quite muscular 4 or 5 years ago!  Watch a www.youtube.com video & try to replicate it, doesn’t work in my case!

Today is the day!!!!  “Bohemian Rhapsody” is in theaters today!!!!!  I don’t like joining a crowd.  I’ll see it next week or sometime shortly after that!

Mike Myers on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert regarding many topics including his role in “Bohemian Rhapsody”

Everybody knew ‘grunge’ had its moment but Marilyn Manson in its place now?  I’ve heard a few songs of his, they’re not what you might think they might sound like.  They were album tracks & they were mostly orchestral music.

Dream Theater is releasing their 14th album in February!  Great, the 34 song double album “The Astonishing” was far from what I/fans expected & knew they could do better!

Ah yes, “I’m going to sue you because my husband took too many of the pills you prescribed him”.  I miss Chris Cornell & Soundgarden too, but the doctor didn’t shove the pills down his throat, or was he on tour with Soundgarden?

COUNTING CROWS

I own 2 of their albums that I bought on CD in the 1990s.  I actually bought 5 studio albums & a double album of them live.  I’m good with only the first 2 studio albums though.  I really don’t know about this band so here’s what http://www.google.com tells me.  They formed in Berkley, California in 1991.  Their first big album was released in 1993 & their 2nd album was released in 1996.  When I got their 2nd album that was all I listened to for 2-3 weeks.  Their most recent studio album was released in 2014.

1996     RECOVERING THE SATELLITES

I fell asleep to “Coheed & Cambria” the album “The Unheavenly Creatures”

I exercised to “Foo Fighters” the album “Wasting Light”

The thing I forget to do is stretch before my exercises.  I’ll start doing my exercise, then stop everything & stretch.  That’s a regular part of my routine, unfortunately walking isn’t.  If I had kept up with my walking, using a walker on my own wouldn’t be out of the question right now, I think?

Once I’m done my exercises on Fridays, my work week is over.  I work 1 ½ hour ASAP.  I’ll do some stuff around the house, I’ll make sure Brewster’s bowls are full, have my breakfast, shower, then hit the couch, sometimes with a coffee or usually with a full liter of water.

Fridays & Saturdays or special occasions are the only evenings I have alcohol.  2 or 3 on each evening.  The sugar in the alcohol usually makes me get up quite early.  The last time I had a hangover would have been before I got sick, 2007 or early in January of 2008.

What kind of world is this???  I don’t care if you’re a democrat, republican, white, black, brown, gay, transgender, straight, male, female, etc.  Are you a respectful human?  If so the USA could use your help in the White House.  Things are getting spooky south of us.

We certainly don’t need more guns in the world, but if you own a 3D printer & look on the dark web, I hear you can create one.  At this point the USA needs to ban semi-automatic guns & now 3D printers.  Thanks technology for creating printable guns, drones & robots or sex robots that I hear you can set to kill you, etc.  Anybody else think technology has gone too far now?

Well, Making a Murderer, wasn’t on Netflix last Friday.  I hear it’s coming on Friday, October 19th, according to Netflix.

So Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath is amazed that Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones is still alive.  Goes to show that just because you listen/play metal music doesn’t mean you’re an addict.  Hahahahaha!  Metallica & Dave Mustaine of Megadeth & Lamb of God are all sober too.

Guess who’s playing drums & singing?  I’ll give you a hint, it rhymes with rave roll!  Good luck finding this album.  I bought it on CD the day it came out, it’s now out of print & not on any digital music service.

Ah, crap!  Just when you think “Lethal Weapon” is in the clear this happens!

New video from “Halestorm”

Reminder for November 2nd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is beyond weird.  How does a rap group take home “Best pop/rock duo”?

What does Corey Taylor (vocalist for Slipknot & Stone Sour) think about the music industry, regarding rock & metal music?

“Live” has a 5 song EP out today called “Local 717”.  All of the original members back together, & it sounds much better, more like the album “Secret Samadhi”

CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL

I only own one greatest hits album of theirs on CD, which are now packed up in boxes.  If it’s an older band I’m good with only a greatest hits album.  I do own all of the “Led Zeppelin”, “The Beatles”, “Pink Floyd”, “Rush”, “The Beastie Boys”, and more.  Anyways here are a few songs….

Music throughout the weekend. “In Flames”, “The Struts”, “Dead Sara”, “Stone Sour”, “Devin Townsend Project”, “Foo Fighters”

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thursday evening we did nothing but watch TV.  So far we’ve mostly been binge watching “The Fosters” on Netflix.  If you liked “Parenthood” or like “This is us”, “The Fosters” are probably right up your alley!  We’re somewhere in the 2nd season of 5.  There are 20-22 episodes each season with roughly 50 minute episodes.

Friday we went to my parents’ place to celebrate my mom’s birthday which was actually on August 25th.  BBQ burgers, hot dogs, & corn on the cob & birthday cake for dessert.

I don’t think we could be any lazier if we tried on Saturday!  Ordered in supper & watched Netflix.  I also slept until 11:30 am, after going to bed around midnight.

Labour Day Classic in Regina on Sunday & we won.  I had never tried to eat an entire 2 foot long hot dog, but there’s a first for everything.  Finished my hot dog before 3:00 minutes into the first quarter of the game.  Washed it down with an overpriced beer.  Yes, the Roughriders won 31-23.  Quite the entertaining game right down to the last minute & a half.

Came home after the game, had supper & watched a couple of episodes of “The Fosters”.  Yes, I still had room for supper after the 2 foot long hot dog.

Another lazy day on Monday.  Ordered in supper again & watched some more Netflix.

My new wheelchair should be here today.  I was going to hit the road with my dad, that’s not happening due to circumstances out of our control.  Keep that voice in good shape Mr. Grohl!

Concert video & album out on Friday September 7th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 Song EP from Nothing but Thieves out October 29th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Muse album out November 9th!!!!!!!!!!!

NO DOUBT

Remember when “ska” was all the rage in the ‘90s?  I thought the entire thing was a nice change to the grunge music.  There were many ska groups to follow.  I only followed No Doubt’s career though.  I didn’t have the desire to follow the entire ska scene.  I have 4 of their 6 albums.  There are 2 before their breakout album “Tragic Kingdom” but I don’t have them.  I think my brother has 1, but I’m not sure?  There was a period a few years ago when I listened to No Doubt & nothing else.  Things always change though.

1995   TRAGIC KINGDOM

2000    RETURN OF SATURN

2001    ROCK STEADY

2012    PUSH & SHOVE

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend. “Dave Grohl”, “The Struts”, “Lamb of God”, “Bruce Springsteen”.

Relatively quiet weekend.  Friday I watched the Toronto Blue Jays.  Did the same on Saturday.  Stopped the game on Saturday while visiting with Tim Wong & his kids.  I’ve been friends with Tim since grade 9 (1994-1995?).  Nice to see him.  I see him about once a year, since he lives in Edmonton.  Always a welcome visit when he’s in town.  Kim had a work BBQ on Saturday.  She left just before 3:00 pm & came home quite late (2:50 pm – 11:40 pm roughly), what was I doing?  I watched “Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi” after Tim & his kids left.

Today is our get ready for the week ahead, I’ve made my juice & Kim’s out grocery shopping.  I’ll bake some fish & Kim will put her lunches together once we hard boil some eggs.

Brewster is getting old.  Kim took him to the Vet this week.  He’s 12.5 years old, both ears are infected, & on a scale of 1 – 6 his heart murmur is at a 4.  Gets me more than a little worried.

I can’t wait to see “The Meg”.  That might rank up there for me with the movie “Jaws”?

JIMMY EAT WORLD

A pop/punk band made up of 7 people with 8 albums.  Again, more emphasis on the pop than the punk.  They made their debut in 1996 with the album “Static Prevails”.  I own 4 of their albums.  Not the first 2 releases or the last 2 releases.  They’ve hit the peak of their career for me.  I didn’t get into them until 2001 on their 3rd album “Bleed American” when I saw the video for the song “The Middle”.

2001    BLEED AMERICAN

2004    FUTURES

2007   CHASE THIS LIGHT

2010   INVENTED

I can see how people would get really bored with this band fast.  Very redundant with the majority of the songs in very simple 4/4 time.  If I’m listening to stuff like this or a very progressive type of music, I’m probably not thinking about the music & have just tuned out of everything.  If it’s very progressive I might be focusing or thinking too hard about what’s going on in the music.
