Back on track this week.  The news REALLY bummed me out last week.  I got up yesterday & got back into my exercise routine.  I really don’t like wasting week days that aren’t scheduled days off by not exercising.  My food & water consumption didn’t change though, so that’s a bonus.  Yesterday I managed to get a few more crunches in, we’ll see if I can keep that trend up?

This morning was a weird exercise.  I got out of bed when Kim did & I don’t think my body has ever made that much noise!  EVERYTHING was popping & cracking.  Got down on the floor to stretch & do yoga, & again EVERYTHING popped & cracked.  My muscles were VERY tight.  So of course I was an idiot and added to each repetition of lifting weights, not sure I’m there yet.

I wrote a bunch of this & realized that I don’t have to justify my purchases with my money.  I’m saving for that guitar & hope to order it in February since there’s 3-15 month delay on it.  Then I’ll continue saving for the amplifier & footswitch.  I’ll probably have the amplifier before the guitar arrives?

Had I thought this through last year, I’d likely have the amplifier & footswitch by now.  It’s a 50 Watt amplifier that can switch to 25 Watts & 0.5 Watts (quieter/digital) for in an apartment or condo while still producing the same type of sound you’d get from a loud amplifier.  I always wanted a tube amp before, but they were just too much in price for me.  This will be comparable to a tube amp, but still not the same.  It also connects to the internet, that’s not gonna happen here.  I don’t need someone trying to mess with an amplifier!!??!?

If we find a house & are able to sell our condo, those purchases will be pushed back to a more appropriate time.

It’s going to be November soon & in Canada that’s when we pause to honour our veterans for all they’ve sacrificed for us.  I know we’ll be getting a call from the legion asking for a donation.  If a cause I support calls looking for a donation, I’d be more than happy to help out, but I can’t.  I hate that I’m going to have to turn them down because I’m saving my pennies for myself, that’s when I feel greedy, selfish, & ashamed.

Just because I can’t donate financially doesn’t mean we don’t donate.  When I gained weight & couldn’t fit into my clothing it was donated to homeless shelters, the Salvation Army, the Diabetes foundation, a second hand store, I used to donate blood when I could before cancer.  When I lost a bunch of weight we did the same thing again by donating clothes to various charities.

I’ve never had a raspberry beret to donate to a second hand store…

Rough week last week, & got worse when the week ended.  I love that there was a March on Washington, I just hate that it had to happen & it will likely fall on deaf ears, politically.

Stayed up past midnight on Saturday to watch the baseball game I had recorded earlier that day & practice guitar unplugged.  Got up shortly after 7:00 am Sunday & made my food for the week ahead.  With baseball on, I don’t get to practice as much guitar on the weekends.  I watch the games on the couch while casually strumming my acoustic guitar.  The little bit that I got to play electric I focused on a few scales, tremolo picking, & these 2 songs are getting better all the time.  I’m focusing more on the lead part for the chorus of “Alive” since I don’t sing.  If I was singing I’d strum the 4 chords.

This song by Our Lady Peace isn’t nearly as challenging as I anticipated.  It just looked odd at first.

I googled songs with 7 string guitar parts in them to learn.  Trivium, Dream Theater, Korn, Sevendust, etc.  I learn those & songs done in baritone guitar tuning.  I’ve got 2 baritone songs already and one Trivium song, so I’m off to the metal & lead guitar world.  Figured that I don’t just want to do the same stuff I did before cancer & that I should improve my guitar skills.

I’m going bald from my “disappearing hairline” & I’m a little thin on the top back portion of my head.  I hope they meet in the middle or I’ll have a weird stripe of hair in the middle of my head.

The beer sealers we ordered at the beginning of June from amazon got here yesterday.  Now my straps are secured on my guitars.  Just waiting for the guitar I ordered in January and I need to change the strings on other guitars very soon, some of them need a good cleaning too.

S2 Custom 22 Semi-Hollow Body Guitar w/Gig Bag - McCarty Sunburst

What I don’t understand about PRS guitars.  The Canadian dollar is at $0.77 to a full USA dollar.  A core model PRS guitar, made in Maryland, USA (not what I’d ever spend on a guitar) retails for $2300 up in America.  In Canada it’s about $3000 more, so roughly $5300 retail.  That’s pretty accurate, but there is NO WAY I’d come close to spending $5300 on a guitar plus the %11 tax in total here in Saskatchewan!

I hate watching our southern neighbors going through this stuff.

The solo/instrumental album by John Petrucci of Dream Theater is REALLY good & I’m still on an “Opeth” kick, listening to the “Ghost Reveries” album.  I’m liking Rancid, I’m not a huge fan of punk music.  Rancid seem to be right up my alley though!

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

5 day exercise total; 250 leg lifts, 300 crunches, 200 squats, 100 back flexes, 00 pushups, 00 curls (10 pounds on left arm & 7 pounds on right arm), 00 tricep lifts w/5 pound weight, 00 shoulder raises w/5 pound weight,  stretching, & yoga.

I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the first album “Foo Fighters” from 1995, followed by “Norah Jones” the album “Feels Like Home”

No sleep again last night.  Thunder & lightning outside with a heavy rain, Brewster was freaking out hard in the middle of the night.  Kim & I were both up trying to calm him down for about an hour or more.

I’ve been EXTREMELY tired all week.  Wednesday I had breakfast, exercised, posted a blog, grabbed a piece of fruit & fell asleep on the couch at 12:00 until 2:45 pm.  Then showered & tried to feel somewhat accomplished for the day on Wednesday.  In the end, I should have just stayed in bed.  I had this problem in the Wascana Rehabilitation Program before, it was because of depression, and this isn’t.  I forgot to take my pills Sunday night & staying up late because of that really messes with my sleep.  I’ve been grumpy & tired all week, that’s why my exercise total is so low this week.

I shouldn’t have even tried to exercise on Wednesday.  My muscles didn’t fully activate & I’ve had odd aches I’ve never had before.

I could worry about this past week & make it far worse in my head, or I could just move on.  I choose to move on, be disappointed for a minimal amount of time, get over it & carry on.  I’ll take it as a learning experience & do better next week.  I can’t change what has already happened.

I like to think of myself as normal as any able bodied person, but I’m not.  Cleaning, doing dishes, & just rushing around the house is actually much harder on me than I remember it being.  Now just doing one extra chore burns me out to the point I’m sweating & out of breath.  Even on the weekends with nothing going on!  Missing my pills for one evening took me down for almost a complete work week.

People say I exercise a TON.   I don’t see it as too much.  If everyone didn’t have a job, kids or both, I guarantee everyone could do this & more if they were in my age group.

I’ll have to do some major stretching today & fire it up next week.

I got a new (3rd single) from the upcoming “Alter Bridge” album last on Thursday.

What else am I looking forward to?  In one week we’ll all be given a new “Tool” album after more than 13 years.  Also a brand new “Big Wreck” album!  YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

A big reason that I won’t touch “Spotify”.  I’ll see a Facebook post from any band I follow that goes something like this “Hey, we just added this song ______ to Spotify”.  The problem for me is that I like to listen to a full album all at once.  That song the band just added to Spotify.  I got that song from Apple Music/iTunes 6 months ago.  That’s just how I prefer to listen to my music.

I think “Sony” & “Disney” could end up both being HUGE losers in this “Spider-man” deal.  Hardcore comic book fans can be vicious when provoked.  Imagine billions of “Dr. Sheldon Cooper” like people coming at you & telling you how many times you’ve been wrong & how you’ve been wrong.  All in all it will be a minor loss in finances for both companies if this ends up the way I think it will, let’s watch!

As of this morning there’s been enough bad reaction from fans that there’s a rumour regarding a new deal between Sony & Disney!  Hahahahahaha!  Remember this is still just a rumour!

Another really good band out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.  This is that band with the guy who has a deep voice.  He controls his voice very well & has more range than you’d think.  I have their 3 first albums & the “Dumb & Dumber” soundtrack with a song that launched them into the stratosphere!  We’ll start with that song….

SURPRISE! PLANS CHANGED! The internet was fairly quiet today, so here it is.

I fell asleep to “Scream”the album “Fumble”

Yes, that’s a young Dave Grohl. “Scream” is the group he dropped out of high school for & was a member of right before he joined “Nirvana”.

I know I said I wasn’t going to do a post today. My wheelchair was supposed to go in for a cleaning & some minor repair work. The second I woke up my stomach was doing some weird stuff? I felt sick. Thought I’d have a bucket beside me all day? I feel fine & I’ve had breakfast that stayed down. Kim called the company for my chair & canceled the appointment for my chair to go in. Better off safe than “sorry”. I’ve got my chair & I feel fine. I guess we’ll schedule it for another day. I’m leary about working out today though, just in case…better to be safe than covered in vomit.

That short time of 2 or 3 days off really makes my muscles sore. After 200 crunches, then things feel OK. I do my squats, 70 leg lifts on my back, then crunches. Followed by 70 leg lifts on my hands & knees, then the push ups that just about kill me. Squats & push ups are by far the most challenging things I do. Squats leave me breathless for a few minutes & push ups are always last or else I don’t have the energy left to do anything else.

Professional sports don’t have a gay problem. The straight individuals in charge have a problem! They can’t accept that not everyone is the same. Yet, somehow Ty Cobb was a notorious jerk, also known for violence and robbery. Yet he’s in the baseball Hall of Fame?

Music rip offs

Another suggestion from a reader. I looked them up & Chevelle was recommended, I’d say that’s a pretty good comparison. “Stellar Circuits” one 5 song EP & 2 singles on iTunes. I haven’t bought anything, but I might?

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver…………………& this is why Quebec won’t abandon Canada. It’s like opening a can of worms. Quebec is a big part of being Canadian!

Alter Bridge shared it…………… album in September I hear?

I got Batman vs. Superman last night from iTunes since they had the “Ultimate Edition” I was planning on buying, available on blu-ray & DVD July 19th and also for renting on iTunes that day.

The Pretty Reckless shared the iTunes link to this album…

10 epic stage dives aka people with a death wish. Who am I to judge? I broke my nose in a mosh pit when I was 19.

Singer/bassist of Slayer, Tom Araya, address’ gun control at a concert. I don’t agree.

I fell asleep to “Walk off the Earth” the album “Sing it all Away” woke up in the middle because I’m either getting old, turning into a woman or my bladder shrunk. Went to bed & listened to “The Traveling Wilburys” their only album Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, & Bob Dylan!

I exercised to “Crash Test Dummies” the album “God Shuffled His Feet”

I think “Crash Test Dummies” were at The Exchange in the last few years? I didn’t go, I didn’t even know they were still around. I only have their first 3 CDs.

Kim has been sanding some wooden boards we have as shelves. Our place is covered in dust. She got them from a relative I believe, but they warped, they’re solid pine shelves about 8′ long. Messy place here at the moment. I think it might be what is making me cough up phlegm every morning & today was the same with a dash of a sore throat added.

Yes, this is on both Facebook or old school email for subscription! for email

Missed it by that much. Right decade for me, just the wrong music! I wanted the “grunge” of the ’90s to come back, not this.

Yeah, that sounds completely different than Queen…………..NOT!

Here’s to their earlier success……………….I hope!

Kongos preorder is April 15th

This has nothing to do with “Disturbed”! If you’re a parent you should know better than to use your phone in a public setting featuring any type of show. Do you need to post anything at that time? Do you use your phone once the light dims in a movie theater? Put your phone away for a few hours & enjoy whatever entertainment you have paid for. Was it a life or death situation she was dealing with? NO! Put your phone away! You wont die & the pictures will still be there after the show. It’s called etiquette……………..take a refresher course!!!!!

If you missed James Corden’s prime time carpool karaoke special, here’s a portion of it. This was a new carpool karaoke segment! He’s the guy that took over Craig Ferguson’s show & changed it radically. I find it to be much better, but that’s just me.

A PILE of photos of “Chevelle” hard at work in the studio recording their next album

“Walk off the Earth” shared it…….

They were here earlier this week or opening for “Mariana’s Trench” who I’ve never heard a song by, but I’ve heard the name in passing. Apparently the majority of concert goers said it should have been “Mariana’s Trench” opening for “Walk off the Earth”. If that had been the case, I would have seen if Kim & I could go to that after seeing “The Watchmen” on Friday

Yay, Mark Tremonti’s going on tour……………………in Europe………………….again. Once he’s done recording the new “Alter Bridge” album by the end of April. I think he & Myles Kennedy need a break? Myles is the singer for both “Slash” & “Alter Bridge” he’s also doing a solo album since 2012 in his little window of spare time. Mark Tremonti is doing his solo project as well as “Alter Bridge”

Some very cool dough art as a tribute to “Soundgarden’s” album “Badmotorfinger”

“Guns n’ Roses” were destined for greatest at the creation of “Appetite for Destruction” released in 1987.

Rolling Stone’s 100 greatest drummers of all time

It’s subjective. Meg White (White Stripes) made the list but not Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater)???? Heck, before cancer I could & have played drums to a White Stripes song.

I listened to Dream Theater on my iPod at work this album, Systematic Chaos then a double album of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s greatest hits. That was roughly 7 hours of my day at work. 1 ear bud in & noise canceling headphones on, then an hour of noise canceling headphones & nothing else.

Little kids covering “Glorious Sons”, shared by Glorious Sons….

OK, Guns n’ Roses fans it’s coming & it could be tomorrow or on April 8th…………………..

“Royal Blood” shared it! I was just as excited to see them live as I was Foo Fighters last summer in Calgary. That’s saying a lot, they were both really good!

I don’t think Trump ever thinks before he speaks? He has no filter!

I’m not into politics at all. I can’t wait for the USA campaign to be over………………in November. Canadians can’t vote but what’s on every day at least once a day on every channel? The Presidential campaign. If they haven’t decided by now, what are they waiting for? A light to shine on who to vote for by God?

I’ve got to cut this short today. The stronger I get, the more chores I can tend to!

I’m on facebook & email only. I’ve found people on face book that I’ve lost track of over the years, everybody has an email address for social media sites, might as well us it for this blog. I have no intention of putting this on twitter, instagram, facebook, etc. it’s an old fashion website. Up there are instructions on how to subscribe. I’m at 39 subscribers so all 39 of you please help me out?
Even though you subscribe to the blog I always recommend coming to the site to read it in case someone comments on a topic. Comments are always welcomed. If you’re using “Google Chrome” as a web browser on a PC the links will be open to show you the title, artist & a still photo of the video. Mac computers I know nothing about

Hard rock fans, buy this “Red Dragon” album by Room 333, which is compared to “La Gargola” by Chevelle!

Yes, music in schools should always be encourage. It is the universal language & it is mentally stimulating! (Well look at me & my big words). Campbell Collegiate is/was well known for having 1 of the best music programs for high school for western Canada. At least when I was there in the ’90s.

I didn’t even know “Twisted Sister” was still going?

Megadeth’s recording plans

Travis Barker (Blink-182 drummer) will keep busy joining “Run the Jewels”. Rap group I know nothing about.

I like Smashing Pumpkins. They’re not my favourite band but I’d miss them!

Elka Eizenblahblah got me into Linkin Park last year! I guess I’m a late bloomer?

The ’80s coming back? That was a bad decade for everyone! Spandex shorts, neon colours, flip top hats, big hair, loads of make up on boys or girls, etc.

Please tell me someone will cover this & not just a dude on American Idol last night…

I did a few of my picks for classic ’90s rock albums now here’s picks for ’90s rock albums. A lot of these I totally agree with. My list was just a few that would likely make it.

Worst to first Smashing Pumpkin albums

These songs are from the number 1 album on the website, I would have to agree with the number 1 album. Ahh the ’90s….& “grunge” music!! I was 13 when this album was released. Dang it I’m old.

Dave Grohl helps sick fan with his bucket list of meeting the band.

Do I like Foo Fighters? Lil’ bit.

In Flames shared it & I like it

I love The Police!

MTV, Much Music, Much More Music, etc. ever considered playing music videos? That might help?

Will Ferrell movies ranked. I really want to see “Get Hard” with Will & Kevin Hart.

Big man “Oh, let’s blame the diciest pop icon for the spat between Axl & Slash”

If I eat something that the expiration date has past in the last 3 days it’s not rotten usually, depending on the food

Sorry Roger Daltrey I think “The Who” have past their prime already but that’s just my opinion.

Muse shared it, I post it. I’m anxious for the new album in June

Paramore’s Hayley Williams in the news

I like Scott Weiland’s voice, I’m just impressed he showed up on time.

That’s all fine & dandy Apple but I want to own my music not subscribe to a “radio station” for my entire life. If others want to that’s fine. That’s not what I want. I guess “The Rolling Stones” were right?

Ozzfiesta canceled Ozzy is going in to surgery

Yes, I like Megadeth

Gene Simmons can play the roll of God in his own world. I’ll be over here!

I love “That Song”

I love “Undateable”

System of a Down working with makers of “Mortal Kombat X”

^^Almost makes me want to play video games again. I’m dreadfully terrible at video games. Sport games or “God of War” I was decent at though. “Turtles in Time” for SNES I finished, it was pretty easy.

Hayley William of Paramore has a trailer for a new TV series.

Kim has my “Kryptonite” in the freezer. Ben & Jerry’s “Half Baked”! I haven’t touched it though in the 3 days it’s been here. Right beside my tortilla wraps that I have with chicken & sun dried tomatoes.

When my iPod Classic 160gb dies I’m done with my iPod. I listen to my iTunes through the home stereo. Apple doesn’t need my money. I’m not paying more for less space on a hard drive on an iPod touch. I don’t want an MP3 player that does everything but a cell phone. I don’t take pictures of people because I don’t like to be photographed. So when it dies, I’m out.

I hit another mini milestone today during my exercising. I finally broke a sweat today. 20+ push ups, planking, better yoga today than ever & 300 crunches in set’s of 50.

I got a really good comment from one of my nurses at Wascana. “You look happy…”. I am very happy & I’ve been screwing up my “medication” this week. I haven’t been taking the wrong pills at the wrong time. I haven’t had my happy pills the last 3 days.

Songs I like. “Crash Test Dummies”

This is on the first Dumb & Dumber soundtrack

I haven’t listened to the 3 albums I have of theirs in decades but when they were released on CD, I listened to them a TON!
