Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “In Flames” the album “I, The Mask”

I exercised to “Chromeo” two albums on shuffle.

5 day exercise total; 400 pushups, 600 leg lifts, 300 crunches, 200 tricep lifts, 450  squats, 300 back flexes.

The exercise is horrible until I get my butt in gear & get it done & out of the way, then I feel good & feel I’ve accomplished something.  It’s not something physical I can really show anyone though.

EX: My mother didn’t really understand what my job was.  I told her I was a printing press operator, she still didn’t fully understand.  I took her the first sheet of paper you set up & see how far off the colour is, & how far I needed to get the metal plates to move so it all lined up.  Then I took her a final sheet of paper from the same job once it was done & explained what I had to do to get it that way.

I worked at a console to the press.  I could manipulate each of the 4 or 5 colours from there to move them or allow the right amount of colour to a certain area.  Once I was done a job, I had something tangible/physical/material to look at & think to myself “Hey, I helped make that.”

I can’t really show what I do now.  I’m pretty tired for the rest of the day, I sit on the couch & watch some TV until I feel the motivation to shower or until I just can’t stand being sweaty & smelly.  I certainly don’t want to do anymore exercise other than some walking when Kim gets home to help me.

My cousin’s in town!  Went to my parents’ place on Tuesday afternoon.  A game, Chinese food for supper (wasn’t even oily), some TV, & left with my belated birthday gift…………..wait for it……………………oatmeal chocolate chip cookies & the blu-rays I lent to my cousins.  My mom & cousin baked them on Monday for me.  My grandmother’s “recipe”.  “Add a little more of this & an extra dash of this until the dough feels right”- Grandma.  My grandparents met each other while she was working as a baker at a bakery & he was delivering from the bakery.

I had a HORRIBLE day on Thursday.  A pity party for one, I just sobbed for a while & asked myself “When will this cancer crap all end?”  I’m tired & stressed & Kim is too.  It feels like a continual pile of bull**** being dumped on us that we can’t get out of, so we never take an extended break from what we do.  I exercise & she busts her butt working while also taking an evening class that’s once a week immediately after work.

I’m glad I survived cancer, but I’m INCREDIBLY sick of the nonsense & crap that comes with it after in my & Kim’s situation.  I exercise 5 days a week & when the f*** does that help.  I’m not going to chase a dream that’s unrealistic for the rest of my life.  To say this is getting old is an understatement!  I want the pill that Robin Williams wanted, called “F*** it all”.  I’m not about to give up, but I’ll never be whatever the hell “normal” is!  If it’s coming, it’s really f***ing slow.  I was EXTREMELY frustrated!  This is nobody’s fault, but I always feel like it’s mine, ALWAYS!

I think God & Satan got together & said “Hey, let’s mess with the guy who has manic depression.  It’ll be fun!”  I have a better idea, how about you don’t?

10 bands that influenced me & made me want to sing & play guitar.  U2, Barenaked Ladies, I Mother Earth, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Big Wreck, The Watchmen, Matthew Good Band, Tool, Led Zeppelin, & Queen.  Many more!

Yes I’m well aware that is 11 bands but I had to get Led Zeppelin in there.

I could never play fast, some of these are guitar influences, and the others are voice influences.

IN FLAMES REVIEW OF “I, THE MASK”

FANTASTIC album somewhat of a return to the earlier albums.  Still hardcore fans say it’s more of a rock album & complain about this album.  I think they want “In Flames” to just make duplicates of “The Jester Race”, not going to happen!  That album was released in 1997, I think it’s time the complaining fans jump ship if that’s what they want?

I didn’t get into “In Flames” until I saw them live in 2006?  The final tour for the traveling metal 3-4 hour extravaganza “Sounds of the Underground” tour in Saskatoon.

Yes, their last 2 releases were quite tame “Siren Charms” 2014 & “Battles” 2016 were pretty mellow as far as metal albums go, I really like “Siren Charms” though.

This new album “I, The Mask” is great from the Swedish melodic death metal group.  The first half is more like their old stuff & the second half is mellower.  Here are a few of my favourite songs from the album….

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Tool” the album “Lateralus”

I exercised to “Chromeo” two albums on shuffle.

Well I’m still around & this year is exactly the same date & day I was diagnosed with brain cancer 11 years ago.  Tuesday, February 5th 2019 marks 11 years since I was diagnosed, unconscious & full of whatever could help me survive.  I don’t remember anything after Kim came in the back of the ambulance & I said “Everything will be OK sweetie”.  That was a bold prediction on my part!  What did Kim tell my parents?  “He’s not going to die.”

“So far, so good” no flu the week before, no debilitating headache in the back/base of my skull either (knock on wood).  I’m here & I’m not done yet!

As the comments on the www.loudwire.com Facebook page said.  “3 months = 4 years” & “Get your CD players ready”.  Hahahahaha, it’s funny because it’s true!

http://loudwire.com/tool-new-album-april-2019-release/?fbclid=IwAR2mf4ehNaJ1p0dgSZ-n-CVMcnO-QqTXl_kRiFZTnIf8_5AFkGDu3nYPc24

So, “Tool” is sick of their fans feeling entitled to a new album after the most recent release in 2006.  As a fan & I’m speaking for most of us, we can stop that, when you stop feeding fans false information regarding a release date.

They like to keep it really at shows by not doing an encore, I like that.  If they like to keep it real at live shows, how about keeping it real when it comes to a release date?  I urge “Tool” fans to take this April release date with a grain of salt!  I’ll beLIEve it when it happens!  We were told this album would be released in 2016, 2017, 2018, & now 2019.  With that track record, I don’t trust ANY release date they give.  This is also the last album required on their contract I believe.  I’m confident that this will be their final release, if I’m right.

This album could be anywhere on a scale of 1 – 10.  It’s been hyped up by so many fans waiting for it.  Don’t be alarmed if it doesn’t live up to your standards!

New “Greta Van Fleet” this year!  “Tool” takes 13 years, “Greta Van Fleet” a year later.

AUDIOSLAVE

“Rage Against the Machine” had disbanded, unfortunately.  They were the only rap/rock group I really liked & still miss.  “Soundgarden” had broken up in 1997.  “Audioslave” was Chris Cornell from “Soundgarden” on vocals with the bass player, drummer, & guitarist from “Rage Against the Machine”.  I was in SIAST when I heard their first single on the radio at school.  3 guys in our SIAST class at the time.  I heard it & got the other 2 to come hear it.  I’m pretty sure all 3 of us were eager to hear it.  “Audioslave” recorded 3 albums, which I thought were really good at the time.  They still are but that was well over 15 years ago.  I still like them, there’s just not much excitement now when I listen to them.  I think I heard they had some stuff recorded with the late Chris Cornell that wasn’t released?

“Soundgarden” from the ‘90s grunge scene in Seattle.  They actually started in 1998.  This is from their 4th of 6 studio albums.  This song was on the album that everyone raves about.

“Rage Against the Machine” who came along in ‘92.

So what does “Audioslave” sound like?  Something completely different.

2002   “Audioslave”

2005   “OUT OF EXILE”

iTunes doesn’t have the next album, I think this is the 7th album that I bought on CD, yet nowhere to be found in the iTunes store?

2006   “REVELATIONS”

Please share this, I’m not profiting from this at all.  Word of mouth is the only way of promoting this.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

When you think you’re going to have a quiet weekend & you get a late Saturday morning phone call from your mother saying your brother is in the hospital, about to have surgery for appendicitis.  All went well!

He’ll be fine but will stay there overnight and be released today.  I’d much prefer it to be me, then I wouldn’t worry as much.

HONORABLE MENTIONS (Really nothing bad about these albums)

Dead Sara – Temporary Things Taking up Space EP

If these songs were a part of a full album, it would easily be number 1 on my list

Dead Sara – Anybody “Acoustic” Single

Easily my favourite song of the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CONCERTS I SAW THIS YEAR

Big Wreck (Regina)

I Mother Earth & Finger 11 (Regina)

Queens of the Stone Age w/ Royal Blood opening (Calgary)

Comedian Jim Jeffries (Regina)

Foo Fighters (Calgary)

Comedian Craig Ferguson (Regina)

Boney M (Regina)

Usually I head up to Saskatoon to see Trivium on tour.  They skipped Saskatchewan completely this time.  Typical Canadian during a North American tour is, Montreal, Toronto, & maybe Vancouver now.  The fact that I got to see all of this stuff live is pretty cool.  Only had to go to Calgary to see Queens of the Stone Age with Royal Blood & Foo Fighters.

If I had to pick my favourite concerts of the year, Queens of the Stone Age & Boney M. would both take the win.  Could be that it was my first time seeing both bands live.  Boney M’s rhythm section was INCREDIBLE!!!!!!

Here’s what to expect in 2019.  Big Wreck, Alter Bridge, Anthrax, Devin Townsend, Dream Theater (already preordered for release Feb. 22), Megadeth, Tool, Lamb of God, Mark Morton (Lamb of God guitarist) preorder January 11, full release March 1st, Rob Zombie, Slipknot, Chevelle, & In Flames (preordered available January 11).  Likely more, that’s just off of the top of my head.

I’m really excited for the ‘In Flames’ album, full release March 1st.

This is a more thorough list of loud wire’s most anticipated rock & metal albums of 2019.

The last Tool album was released in 2006, the last System of a Down album was released in 2005.  There will be a new Tool album before a System of a Down album.

Megadeth might release a song for preorder this week?

A baseball player is offered more than what he asked for from his previous team as a free agent, $300,000,000 over 10 years.  More than that was offered & he turned it down.  He must really not like where he was, I doubt any other team will offer him $10,000,000 a year to play a game for a living?  Once he hits the age of 30 or shortly thereafter you see almost all players start to decline athletically.  The back end (the last 3-5 years) of $300,000,000 will be terrible if he gets that deal.

WEEKLY EXERCISE TOTAL/ CLASSIC ROCK BANDS FOR MY GENERATION

The www.youtube.com  links are there for a point of reference if you don’t know what I’m talking about.

No such thing as a stupid question!  Ask me & I’ll try to break it down for you!

5 day exercise total; 400 pushups, 300 tricep pushups, 100 back flexes, 390 squats, 600 leg lifts, 300 crunches.

Tuesdays & Thursdays I do pushups & tricep lifts.  The other 3 “days of the week” are everything else.

I fell asleep to “Muse” the new album “Simulation Theory”.  I got it last night.

I exercised to “Chromeo” the album “Head Over Heels”

I woke up, got everything ready for my exercises, and then realized I really felt sick to my stomach.  It was 6:00 am.  I went back to bed to sleep some more.  I got up at 9:30 & felt much better.  Straight to my exercises, followed by some breakfast.  All is well!

After 5 days of not leaving the house or not having people here, I get bored.  I get cabin fever & not only want but NEED to get out of here!

My body is getting tired.  I’m looking forward to December.  I’ll do crunches, pushups, & squats.  From the 21st-26th, I will do nothing but relax.  On the 27th I’ll do the pushups, crunches, & squats until the end of the year.

I had my consultation with my surgeon regarding my back surgery.  Haven’t heard anything yet.  I’m supposed to have another MRI soon, on my back.  It feels fine & I assume nothing will be done, since the MRI will show nothing wrong at the moment?

I do usually end up watching WAY too much CNN though.  For me it’s like watching a terrible car accident.  If Kim is home, I don’t watch CNN.  “Why are you screaming at the TV?”  “Because this is RIDICULOUS!”

I turn it to our recorded “Ellen Degeneres” show from that day, usually the second she gets home.

New Muse is released today!!!!!!!!!  I’ve got 4 other ones (Into Eternity, hopefully at a home town show.  Chevelle, Opeth live & maybe Tenacious D) to purchase after Christmas I’m told.  We’re saving the cash for Christmas gifts.

A movie based on “Breaking Bad” that would be AWESOME!!!!!!

People really need to get over this!

America you’re doing it wrong!  Stop these ridiculous mass shootings (2nd amendment).  Activate the 25th amendment to get the president who shall not be named out of the White House!  Mr. Mueller get your investigation wrapped up ASAP or just let the Democrats punt him out the door!

I think the majority of gun owners are cowards.  You want a gun?  You can all have a single shot hunting rifle.  If the other person doesn’t have an automatic or semi-automatic weapon, why do you need one?  I’m running low on hopes & prayers.  Figure it out already!

Well I have a somewhat busy weekend ahead.  Saskatchewan Roughriders have a home playoff game on Sunday.  I’ll be there freezing my tushy off.  Kim’s not a fan of any type of football, last I heard she had some work to do for another company on the side?  As for Saturday, I’m not sure what’s happening?

CLASSIC ROCK BANDS FOR MY GENERATION

I don’t know how long this will be?  If it gets lengthy, I’ll have a part 3.  This will be older bands & current bands.  Reminder, this is music I have, some of it I couldn’t care less if I ever hear it again.

The Rolling Stones

Aerosmith

Black Sabbath

Guns n’ Roses

Nirvana

Soundgarden

Foo Fighters

Rush

Metallica

Beastie Boys

Likely a part 3 to this story.

So, MLB, Major League Baseball, wants to speed up the pace of play to attract a younger audience.  Great!  I’m all for it!  How will they attract a younger audience if younger people aren’t watching it already?  Isn’t the younger generation watching TV on streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Crackle, etc?  How is the MLB going to advertise on these streaming sites?  People of many generations already know if they want to watch baseball or not.  If a game takes 3 hours or 2 ½ hours, how will that entice a younger fan base that’s already tuned out?

I don’t watch NFL football because it takes 4 hours for a game.  I don’t even like it when a CFL game goes into overtime.  How will the NFL market the game to me?  I’ve already tuned out.  Just because I see an advertisement doesn’t mean I’ll watch a game?

The more you share this, the more readers I get.  No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.  I can’t tell who’s reading this but thank you!

5 day weekly total; 400 pushups, 240 tricep pushups, 100 back flexes, 600 leg lifts, 300 crunches, 360 squats.  Totally forgot about walking.  Just not part of our routine yet.

I fell asleep to “Halestorm” the album “Vicious”

I exercised to “Chromeo” the album “Head Over Heels”

I had breakfast listening to “The Struts” the album “Everybody Wants”

Post this then hit the shower!

I found out earlier this week that I wasn’t doing my pushups properly.  I guess my hands should be closer together & I need to keep my elbows very close to my body.  I tried it & it’s much more difficult than having your elbows out when you go low.  I can’t do 200 pushups a day like that.  I alternate with each set of 25 pushups & stop at 200.  I figure my old way is still somewhat beneficial?  I will eventually get to 200 pushups done properly.

I really don’t look forward to the days that I do arms & back exercises.  They’re more difficult, take longer, & I just want to be lazy.  Somedays, when I’m done them, I just sit, relax & turn on the TV.

I had a doctor appointment yesterday.  Nothing to worry about, I just needed refills.  My doctor also brought up the surgeon who will be doing my back surgery.  We haven’t heard from him at all.  Hopefully they’ll get in touch?  If all goes according to plan, maybe I can ramp up the crunches a bit more after it’s healed.  I was doing 1,500 a day before, 500 should be more than enough 2 or 3 times a week?

Yes, we bought “Deadpool 2” on Tuesday when it was released.  I’m sure I’ll watch it multiple times, much like the first movie!  As well as “Avengers: Infinity War”.  I’m still not done with “Justice League” either.  Odd thing is that I wasn’t a comic book enthusiast as a kid.  I had a few comic books & I collected many trading cards, since there was a place I could ride my bike to, I just never caught the bug for it?  LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Album & concert video to be released on September 7th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never really watched the “X-Men” series though.  Never really ever heard much about that series, outta site outta mind I guess.

JAMIROQUAI

I really don’t even know if that’s the band name or the singer’s stage name.  None of that really matters if you enjoy the music.  It is dance music, not techno, but it is dance music from the ‘90s.  I originally just had the album “Travelling Without Moving” because of the cool video on Much Music for the song “Virtual Insanity”.

When I started purchasing music on iTunes, I found the entire catalogue of music & picked the songs that I liked.  I still have the one CD, but ended up putting most of it on my greatest hits album I made.  I can’t give you years of release or anything like that, so here’s a sample of what I put on the one album…

The more you share this, the more readers I get.  No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.  I can’t tell who’s reading this but thank you!

No such thing as a stupid question!  Ask & I’ll answer as best as I can.

Don’t feel as though you have to open every link.

I fell asleep to “Myles Kennedy” the album “Year of the Tiger”.

I exercised to “Chromeo” 2 albums on shuffle.

No new wheelchair yet!

Yep, I have little moments of anxiety.  I really don’t like meeting new people while I’m in this wheelchair with an iPatch.  On the flip side of this I’m not even 40 yet, so I’m way too young to not meet new people.  What causes my anxiety?  I couldn’t tell you, because I have no idea?  I know that nobody stares at me in public or anywhere else.

Lately I just always feel as though I don’t fit in, which is a double edged sword for me.  I don’t want to be like anyone else, but I also want to feel accepted (which I know I am).  It’s all in my head.

It’s me thinking “I’m here, now what can I do to speed up my recovery?  I’m not at the point that I can move on, so what do I do now?  This exercising is getting redundant, not easy but redundant.”  Sure I mix up my exercises daily, but that’s not enough.  I need a break, but I don’t like having an extended break.  If it’s a break that’s 5 or more days, it makes my exercises more difficult when I start again.  That being said 5 days is not a long enough break.

I could be that we had multiple visitors last week, & that was a welcome change of pace but now it’s back to the regular routine again?  Whatever it is, it’s in my head.  NOBODY has done anything to cause this, it’s just me in a slump.

I’ll likely get some hate from this but this is my view on millennials, as an outsider.

The average age for a kid to get a cell phone is 6 years old, WHY?  I’m 38 & I don’t need a cell phone.  I had a cell phone before I had cancer, it certainly didn’t save my life, & I don’t miss it at all.  If I had a kid that wanted a cell phone, they would be more than welcome to get one, with some rules in place.  Rule number 1, get a job & buy your own phone, rule 2, when the kid comes home from school, the phone goes away until the homework is done & supper is cleaned up.  Until that’s finished, no phone.  Final rule, if the kid’s in a room with other people, the phone disappears.  I’m 38 & a cell phone for myself would feel like a HUGE waste of money.  Did your parents take a phone call when someone was over?  I always heard “Can I call you back later?  We have company over right now.”  Why does that not apply to today’s world?  Texting is the same if you ask me.  Relax the text will be there still, try some etiquette?   That’s just me though & my opinion.

As for streaming music, I get the appeal, it’s out there & legal.  My iPod, 160 gig classic still works, but it does not work for streaming music.  In this case I’m either going to pay hundreds of dollars for an iPhone or iPod touch or roughly $200 for a decent vinyl player & a vinyl collection?  I’m leaning heavily towards vinyl & when my iPod dies there will be no replacement for it.  Napster was free when it first appeared & I like iTunes.  That album you’ve been streaming for a year now has cost you $120 since last year when you got it.  I paid $9.99 once & I haven’t paid to hear it again.  For me streaming music is a wolf disguised in sheep’s clothing.  I’d much rather pay once & own it.

Do you really think musicians will go along with streaming music where they can make $0.05 per stream?  Musicians prior to this streaming fad were loaded with cash, but now musicians are basically working for free.  Remember that this is my opinion & you have every right to your opinion.

Well millennials are taking away my option to buy cheap music.  They’re convinced streaming music is a better option?  I guess anyone using a streaming music site doesn’t want to OWN their music.  “Thank you” millennials for ruining a good idea.  Apple could easily keep the iTunes option if they’re still offering the streaming/Apple Music service.  Same technology I assume?

Just let it play multiple videos regarding millennials in the work place!

This is another stereotype that has exceptions, like all stereotypes.

This won’t happen.  Tuition is not free, most of us have had to pay tuition!  I hope she’s not taking economics!

I didn’t search this subject on www.youtube.com this is just what was on there!

I was always told if you want something you have to work for it.  I was born in 1980 & my brother was born in 1987.  He was told the same as I was.  He’s not a stereotypical millennial.  I’ve never considered my younger cousins a stereotypical millennials either.  I’m the oldest cousin on my dad’s side of the family & among the 4 oldest on my mother’s side.  I don’t think it’s the kids fault?  As a parent maybe treat your kids the same way you were raised?  I’m not a parent for that reason.  I don’t think I have it in me to be a responsible parent & raise a responsible child.  I’m not saying the people I know aren’t responsible or that I’m forcing any type of parenting skills on anyone.  This is how I would raise my child if I had one.

OASIS (SORT OF)

My father & I went to see Queens of the Stone Age in Calgary during the spring, I think it was near the end of May?  Royal Blood was the opener.  Before the concert started there were people sitting to my left having a discussion.  I couldn’t see them since my iPatch is on my left eye, anything to the left of me is totally out of my vision.  I don’t know if they were brother & sister, dating or married, or friends that came to see Queens of the Stone Age.  They were speaking loudly so I heard everything they were saying, & they had thick British accents.  They were talking about Oasis & Noel Gallagher.  The male had absolutely no clue who Oasis was?  The female was explaining everything she could about them to the guy.  How does someone come from the same country as one of the biggest rock bands of the ‘90s & not have a clue who Oasis is, or their guitar player & songwriter?  It’s really not that big of a deal, I was completely flabbergasted!  Whoever the girl was knew everything though.  Oasis is probably as well known in England as The Tragically Hip is in Canada.  Not everyone will be a HUGE fan but most people know who they are.  She explained everything to him, & they sounded as though they were the same age.  It just baffled me that they both knew who Queens of the Stone Age were but not Oasis, weird?  Maybe I just have too much useless music trivia in my head, it’s genetic!  My brother & I got it from mostly dad, but both parents.  I only have 3 “Oasis” albums & 2 “Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds” albums.

I found out about Queens of the Stone Age via Nirvana.  Dave Grohl was Nirvana’s drummer, then singer for Foo Fighters, then played drums on 2 complete albums for Queens of the Stone Age.  Oasis’ big album in 1995 was also the year Foo Fighters released their debut album.
