I could see this song getting old fast, for the time being though I like it.

Chris Cornell’s 4th solo album song on Jimmy Fallon.

I didn’t see that coming from Slayer guitarist Kerry King? I thought he’d ask “Hey what key is this song in?”

Kim showed me this Saturday morning, very well done! Taylor Swift parody on the 2015 Blue Jays.

What makes me very nervous about the 2015 Blue Jays is that they rely on the home runs too much. When they hit 3+ home runs/game there’s a really good chance they’ll win the game. They had 2 home runs on Saturday in a losing effort. There’s likely a statistic I could look up to prove or disprove my theory but I’m to lazy to look it up. No I’m not a person who has just jumped on the Blue Jays’ band wagon, I’ve been a devoted fan since I was 11 in 1991.

I was already in “Little League” from the age of 4 in 1984. My parents took me to 1 T-Ball practice & 1 game then I think I demanded to be put in real baseball. I think I skipped T-Ball & went straight to “baseball” where we used pitching machines & a player to play defense as a pitcher next to the machine. Baseball was my sport, that was my hobby. I even had Blue Jays’ comics as a kid. I played from 1984 to my final season in 1997. By 1996 I couldn’t hit any side of any barn if I was locked inside of it. I’d go to a game & the line up always said “Fraser hitting 9th playing 3B”. I totally separated those parts of the game. I was a decent fielder but I was also a guaranteed strike out at the plate.

10 painful onstage head blows

10 years ago “Disturbed” released ‘Ten Thousand Fists’. 10 years ago I listened to a copy of this album & decided to not keep up with “Disturbed”. The only song that sounded OK to me, was a cover.

I’m not a fan of streaming music at all. I know a person who has not paid a cent for digital music for a long time. Now that person has become a CD purchaser, pretty much the same price a buying it on iTunes. More & more people/fans are being forgotten with the ever changing music industry at the moment & reverting to CDs or vinyl albums. I pre-order albums from iTunes, around 10:00pm the night before the release date I get the album at 12:00am Eastern time. The next day I look on my iTunes & have to delete random duplicates of songs from that recently purchased music. I prefer having the album booklet with the photos, lyrics & thank yous from the artist or group. Digital music is fine with me, but all of these streaming sites are exactly the same as Serious XM, you pay a monthly fee to have a radio station play your songs? I find it odd? I buy an album from iTunes, I wake up at the end of the month & I don’t have to pay anyone to hear the music I bough 2 weeks ago. It’s mine, I bought it, I own it. I didn’t “rent” it from a streaming site.

Chris Adler (Lamb of God drummer) on how he got to record with “Megadeth”

I’ve had this song stuck in my head for quite a while, this version.

Songs I like, “Queens of the Stone Age” 3rd album, but the first one I bought because I heard Dave Grohl was playing drums on it. 7 albums in total including a live Greatest Hits. The 5th album with “Sick, sick, sick” is by far my least favourite album of theirs

Spotify, Google Play, Pandora Radio, iTunes, & CD stores suck at the moment. I want to own my music, so I use iTunes. That being said, who do you think is getting most of the money? Not the musicians but iTunes & the label are likely getting the bigger piece of the pie. Do you want a radio subscription until you die or do you want to go to sleep at night knowing your music is there and you own it, you’re not turning on a “radio station” to play music. You’re turning on you’re home stereo or iPod. All of that cheap music will be there no matter what. I still purchase the odd CD & as many
Blu-rays as I can fit in here. I don’t plan on having a Netflix account for the rest of my life. I’ll go to a theater, rent the movie on iTunes or just buy the movie. Free streaming sites sort of seem like a pirated product to me. Even iTunes for music isn’t all that & a bag of chips. How will a new group or artist be able to afford to go on tour if they’re broke? What if I don’t want to see them in concert? I like Taylor Swift’s “1989” album, will I go to see her in concert if she comes to a venue anywhere near me? No. I’m not huge on country music, which will likely be included in her show. I downloaded the album from iTunes. “You’re welcome! I just gave you pennies for your album that probably cost you $900+ to make”. That doesn’t sound right to me?

Yes, I have “Hoobastank”, “Iced Earth”. “In Darkness”, & “Idle Sons” I like the sound of these groups, but I couldn’t pick out one song in particular, so here’s what you’re getting today………

Why Megadeth’s “Killing is my Business…………..And Business is Good” is an important album

I really hope the new Megadeth album is released this year?

Big Wreck shared it……

What is “nu metal”? Is it a sub genre of groups people don’t know where other bands should fit? There are a TON of bands labeled as nu metal, but none of them have anything in common sound wise? Here’s 4 bands labeled as nu metal…

Do any of these sound remotely similar? Not to me. Am I missing something? Why are these groups all labeled as ‘nu metal’? For me it’s more of a “….I don’t know what hole these square pegs fit in?….”

Slipknot tease summer tour

Paul McCartney gave up marijuana for his grandchildren

Interview/article with A. D. D. guitarist

In Flames share it, so here it is…

These 2 albums won’t disappoint Barenaked Ladies fans!!! Yes, I got the new album (Silverball) last night!

I’ve never thought of (Megadeth singer) MegaDave Mustaine as a bad guy?

The new ‘Florence & The Machine’ album is out, it’s sounds good. Something I’d buy but never listen too. https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/how-big-how-blue-how-beautiful/id965931771

Ed Sheeran plays metal songs on the Tonight show with Jimmy Fallon!

This is what he played at the end of the show.

The more Ed Sheeran I hear, the more I like him. When I heard his first album, I thought it was some of the most unique music I had ever heard!

“One week” from today on iTunes “Cauterize” by Mark Tremonti of Alter Bridge. “Drones” by Muse!

I was all hyped up about seeing “Halestorm” in Moose Jaw, then realized they were opening for “Three Days Grace”. I’m not a fan of “Three Days Grace”

I’m on the fence about this show, it’s a Tuesday in November & I don’t like going out during the week. We’ll see how much tickets are I guess. Moose Jaw is much closer than Saskatoon the next day!

The Gallagher brothers together as members of “Oasis” were arguing constantly in the ’90s. Kept themselves in the news with a new argument almost every other day. Here’s what Noel Gallagher has to say to “One Direction”

Jack White’s label “Third Man Records” is moving to Detroit!

REALLY? Mariah Carey joins dating site to share a new song?

A lot of music for me yet to come out this year. Muse, Tremonti, Walk off the Earth, Lamb of God, Finger Eleven, Stone Temple Pilots, Tool, Megadeth, Into Eternity & maybe other surprises like the new Zac Brown Band which is really good!

Songs I like! “I Mother Earth” I REALLY like them! Based in Ontario, Canada. 2 songs from each (four) albums & a few singles they are releasing now. I can almost hear my mother screaming at my brother & I washing dishes after supper while listening to these guys, “TURN THAT CRAP DOWN!!!” Hahahahahaha!

OK, I’m at 51 or 52 subscribers now you do the work please? If I see this 100 times that’s fine, please spread the word?

Sorry, Sunday’s post was late. Busy day for us!

Give the site a minute or 2 to load all of the links & everything should be fine.

Check it out if you like. What my brother started when I got cancer! No, I’m not biased it’s really good! I don’t do reviews I could but I know everyone doesn’t like the same stuff as much as I do or even like it at all. So I would say at least check out these albums on iTunes.

Look what was released today on iTunes. “Third Ion’s” debut album!

I like going out for breakfast, just not on Sundays. It seems like everybody & their dog go out for Sunday brunch. We did luck out & find a place not busy at all on Sunday. I thought for sure we’d have to wait ½ an hour for a table at 11:00am for 4. We lucked out & went right in with only a few tables full.

After brunch we spent the day at my parents house. Kim sat outside with my mom, dad was doing yard work & I was inside watching the recorded Blue Jay game, aka swearing at the TV. Had supper & left shortly after

I think it’s time to start complaining about the heat! I can only tolerate 15-23C. Anything over that & I start pouring sweat, from EVERYWHERE! If you want to find me this summer, I’ll be naked in front of an A/C vent or in a cold shower! I can’t stand the heat & I’m really fun to be around when I’m hot, ask Kim. Come on polar vortex, I miss you! That’s how I roll, literally!

I’ve got 4 albums coming in June. First up is Barenaked Ladies on June 2nd. Then Tremonti & Muse on June 9th & finally Walk off the Earth on June 16th, all pre-ordered on iTunes.

Tremonti & Muse are the ones I’m most anxious for. Barenaked Ladies were mine & my brother’s first concert in ’92. I was 12 & Mitch was 5 at the time!

This usually a guarantee with a choreographed dance as well at most shows of theirs

10 incredible guitar prodigies, where they’re t now, would easily blow me out of the water on a perfect day for me. I was/am a very slow guitar player, never a fast solo player, just simple rhythm guitar.

Review of The Rolling Stones tour.
10 shows for American soldiers on Memorial Day. Yes, Paramore does a live cover of Foo Fighters.

I tend to agree with Jack White. You don’t have to tour, it is expensive & musicians don’t make much money if any from a newly released album. You also don’t have to release anything unless you want the world to hear it, you’re making music that YOU want to hear. This cheap/free music will catch up to almost everyone if something drastic doesn’t happen soon. Musicians can’t afford to go on tour everywhere so why should they bother releasing new material? They’ll get a 9-5 job & play music at home after work & on the weekends.

Fear Factory are back & plan on releasing a new album. I had a ton of their albums before I was diagnosed with cancer that I downloaded for free. All of their stuff sounds the same to me. I deleted all of it very fast.

I like “American Ninja Warrior” it’s more of a sports entertainment show & an actual competition. You win or lose. You aren’t chosen by a group of “judges” on a subjective talent show & no points for pretty.

Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell plans 4th solo album. Here’s a song from each of his 1st 2 solo albums. I’ve never heard the 3rd album & I only own the first one.

Trent Reznor credited for music consultant on “Batman : Arkham Knight Asylum” video game

I don’t consider music a competition. Personally if I had my choice of these 2 bass players, it would be Flea of the (Red Hot Chili Peppers)

No disrespect to Flea, I just prefer Robert DeLeo from STP.

Songs I like. “Harry Connick Jr.”

I also have 3 Christmas albums of his. I don’t put them on my iPod until the holidays.

Duff McKagan on “G n’ R” reunion

First of all, IT’S NOT REALITY TV. Do you have 19 kids & counting? Probably not. You might have 5 & thought to yourself “Hey, that’s a lot of kids! Even with 3 my spouse & I were out numbered.” Not this couple, “18 isn’t enough, let’s keep going”! Are they crazy? They can already field 2 baseball teams & have a spare kid in the dugout with 19 kids. STOP………..NOW! Get a new hobby I think the father should pick up golf & the mother should start knitting. I’ve thought about my idea for people spending money on music. I don’t think anything will change unless customers habit’s & label habit’s change. I like digital music & having a preview of what you’re about to spend money on. Maybe digital files don’t sound great to people, fair enough go & by vinyl records or CDs, they’re still there & cassettes are making a come back too. CDs & vinyl can easily be scratched, fact, so take care of them if you want to use them if you’ve put them on your iTunes, iPod or phone. I don’t have the physical space for them & I listen to my iTunes more on the home stereo than I do on my iPod, & I’m fine with digital files.

Apple, pay attention please, an iTunes user has a statement about your service. iTunes is a great idea, in that it’s very convenient. For a song purchase maybe $0.50 for Apple as well as $0.50 for the label & $1.00 for the artist if they choose so? For a full album download $1.00 for the label, $1.00 for Apple & $0.00-$13.00 for the artist, you know, the people doing the grunt work for you? What are you going to do if the artists can’t survive on the money they’re making at the moment? Cancel or diminish the music portion of iTunes? I, personally, am surprised by the amount of new artists signing to a label with their album all over the internet for free & being successful with that process?

If music is free, let’s have everything be free. Groceries BAH I’m not paying for that or anything else ever again! Let us all riot & have whatever we want whenever we want. It’s happening with music, Netflix & other such things. So why not with everything? “I’m not paying so & so for that product! It should be free”! If that’s the case, everybody quit your job, you don’t need it everything is free or stay with your job & watch your paycheck slowly diminish in front of your eyes. Take your job on tour & do it in front of an audience. What? You don’t have the money to go out & do your job in front of people? Oh well, better luck next time, I guess.

Get your music however you want. Only the rich (labels & streaming sites) are getting richer. I don’t think $15 will break you for an album. For all of this to work, almost everyone will have to change the way they think, so it likely wont happen? Before I was diagnosed with cancer, I’d go into HMV & see a rack of CDs priced at 2 for $25 or 3 for $30, sweet deal. If I could find however many, 2 or 3 on the shelf, I’d buy them instantly!

Who on earth gets up before 8:00am on a Sunday? Parents with young children & those who have to work. I’m neither of those. Kim wanted to go out for a run, I wanted to sleep……………..I didn’t win that battle. “10:00pm, we should go to bed, early morning tomorrow” I think we just aged ourselves? 10:00 pm on a Saturday? That’s ridiculous!

I’m sure there won’t be a rock or metal festival on the Canadian prairies (Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba) that’s pretty much a guarantee at this point.

I’ve seen U2 in concert. When they we’re closer to the U2 from the ’80s & ’90s I’m good & I don’t have the cash to spend on that type of show out of province.

I had totally forgot about P.O.D. they were a flash in the pan for me.

http://www.loudwire.com top 100 alternative albums from the ’90s. The ’90s, that’s my music. I started high school in ’93. I was born in 1980 nobody around me in the ’80s listened to ’80s hair metal, so that’s not my thing. In the ’90s I found the music I wanted to hear over & over again. I would take my disc man to school to listen to before school started, listen to it on my bike to & from school & the 5 minutes between classes in the hallways. Then every night I’d fall asleep with my music on quietly in my room.

Sorry. I got a little excited there.

When I was actually battling cancer in the Pasqua hospital having my first of 7 cortisone shots. Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel announced a tour that included Saskatoon, & I really wanted to go, then I heard the price of the tickets & I was positive I didn’t want to go. 2+ hour drive with two ticket each priced at $350 a piece! NO! I don’t care who you are, I’m not paying that amount to see anyone.
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/art-garfunkel-lashes-out-at-paul-simon-in-new-interview-20150524#ixzz3b5K11InG Yes, I like Simon & Garfunkel, I own a 3 CD box set. I bought it in 1997 while in grade 11.

Classic rock’s tracks of the week.

I agree Corey Taylor (Slipknot & Stone Sour vocalist) Fall Out Boy are not about to “Save Rock n’ Roll”. I wouldn’t consider them a rock group at all. They are a decent pop band though, for me anyways. They released an album in 2013 called “Save Rock n’ Roll”.

You never want to hear or see this at any concert!

Anybody still listen to “Dragon Force”? They have a DVD coming out. They got old for me after the second listen of their 1st album “Look at me I can play a billion notes in 3:30 minutes”. Good for you, you just keep doing your thing. Talented but every song sounded like a competition to fit more notes into the next song?

Songs I like. “Halestorm” 3 studio albums, 2 EPs each have 5 cover songs & 1 live album.

I’m not really a fan of their cover songs, maybe if they were live recordings?

We were watching American Idol last night for me the show is like a bad car crash. I don’t like it but I can’t look away. They just eliminated the first person of the top 12. I’ve picked my top 4 already. Two of them might make it to the top 2. I don’t know if Canadians can vote for American Idol or not. I wouldn’t anyway, it’s a popularity contest. The cutest guy on the show with a decent voice will win. Because mostly young teenage girls watch the show & vote for their teen idol, the guy that will be on the cover of every teenage girl magazine or website. Don’t get me wrong they’ve got a lot of talent on the show & it will be difficult to pick the winner. When the winner is chosen it will be a teen heart throb that can sing country music. That’s the huge music market at the moment. I could be totally wrong, but I don’t think my top four could go all the way? Would I vote if I could? Probably not. In the end young teenage girls will likely choose the winner by “tweeting” which I don’t do. Most people have an email or cell phone, but not everyone is on twitter, facebook, linked in, instagram, etc. I’m not about to join a specific social media site so I can vote for a subjective competition.

Muse “Drones” preordered on iTunes. https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/drones/id973555620

Courtney Love Cobain gets a role on TV’s Revenge

He must enjoy it though! He’s been doing it since 1974!

Steel Panther hair metal. Aren’t the ’80s done?

I’ve got the “Paramore” albums (4) they’re great! Pop-punk sort of? Hard to describe.

This is the Radiohead stuff I love & the song “Street Spirit” isn’t as difficult to play/sing as it sounds!
Great song though from their 2nd album “The Bends”

Mark Knopfler’s new song of “Dire Straits” who also did “The Princess Bride” score/soundtrack.
Song didn’t work for me. I’ll dig to find it.

HILARIOUS sit-com starting the 2nd season on Tuesday on NBC!

If you want the “Game of Thrones” mix-tape there it is!

Radiohead’s 2nd & 3rd album “The Bends” & “OK Computer” are at the top of the heap for me by far my 2 favourite albums of all time! Here are 3 songs from each album.

Now “OK Computer”

REALLY GOOD art work, not by me.

Does anyone still enjoy “Disturbed”? I grew out of them. They still have a few good songs here & there though.

What’s your favourite show from the ’80s? That was just a bad decade in general!

A-Roid will hear this at every game. It’s only spring training games & it’s started already. Home run, test him…………….frequently.

Songs I like. I’m going to jump over a few that are on my iTunes but not on my iPod. I don’t delete stuff unless I find it absolutely terrible. “Chris Cornell” solo album (Soundgarden/Audioslave). I prefer his first of 2 solo albums. I don’t think this is even in the same ball park as Soundgarden.

Here’s one from his 2nd solo album

It’s a music blog so whoever likes it can subscribe!

I’m going to leave this first paragraph until I have 100 subscribers 36 & growing. Thanks!

Really please help me out?

Sorry here’s the self promotion for my now music blog. If you don’t want to that’s fine. Here’s how to subscribe You have to ad your email address to where ever you see “Follow”. I think it’s in the bottom right or top left corner? You do that then you get a confirmation email that says I don’t know what? All of this has to be done on a laptop or desktop computer. Then you can read it anywhere. Each post will come to the inbox of the email address. http://www.amillionmilesawayblog.com
Even though you subscribe to the blog I always recommend coming to the site to read it in case someone comments on a topic. Comments are always welcomed. If you’re using “Google Chrome” on a PC as a web browser the http://www.youtube.com links will be open to show you the title, artist & a still photo of the video. Mac products I know nothing about.

Hard rock fans, buy this “Red Dragon” album by Room 333, which is compared to “La Gargola” by Chevelle!

Honestly, I haven’t really followed Incubus for years. I don’t mind them though they sound decent

At least one breakfast chain, Denny’s, Smitty’s, Perkins, Cora’s, etc. should have a meal called “Eggs Benedict Cumberbatch”. You’re all thinking it but I said it.

What’s your favourite movie with Harrison Ford in it? My knee jerk reaction was any Star Wars movie. But I quickly thought of “The Fugitive”.

Can’t say I’ve heard of Flyleaf

I think the Nickelback hate has overstayed it’s welcome. They have over 20,000,000 likes on facebook alone & not everyone’s on facebook & twitter! We should just layoff!
I just don’t listen to Nickelback, pretty simple. If it’s in a bar or restaurant, wait 4 minutes until the next song comes on. Music isn’t a competition anyways.

Gary Bettman too (Commissioner of the NHL). I don’t watch NHL hockey other than the odd playoff game. I like ’80s hockey that’s not coming back any time soon. When that style of play comes back or if they make the ice surface the size of European rinks I’ll watch. Until then I’m out & not complaining.

Elka got me hooked on Ed Sheeran of course. I don’t drink to the point I’m drunk 2 is enough for me. Not for Elka though.

“Them Crooked Vultures” are already a super group Dave Grohl on drums, John Paul Jones on bass (Led Zeppelin) & Joshua Homme on guitar & vocals (Queens of the Stone Age). If you add Ian Thornley on lead guitar & Myles Kennedy on vocals (Mayfield Four/Alter Bridge/Slash) there’s my top 3 musicians. Dave Grohl, Ian Thornley & Myles Kennedy.
