Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Janelle Monae” the album “Dirty Computer”, followed by “Testament” the album “The Legacy”

I exercised in silence.  I forgot to put the universal remote on the charger last night.

I will openly admit that even when I was free of cancer & my rehabilitation, I was an asshole.  I was VERY depressed & wouldn’t listen to anyone.  That wasn’t me, never has been or will be.  I am truly sorry to those I was a moron to, publically & privately.  Thank you for forgiving me.  You chose to forgive me, I didn’t force it on anyone.  THANK YOU!!!!!  It may have been years ago, but I still feel bad about it.

I got over that.  Getting into & out of a wheelchair is pretty normal now, not something I’ve stressed about in quite a while.  My legs work a bit & the exercise definitely helps with my walking.  I can stand for quite a while, as long as I have something to hold on to, or with the aid of another person.  30 minutes of standing in one spot isn’t out of the question.

I’m more able to keep my walker (on wheels, chest high) pointed in a straight direction.  Kim follows me in case I stumble or need to sit.  It’s really not that bad, especially since I’m getting stronger.

144 meters is my longest walk without a rest.  It used to be 200, rest, 400, rest, then 200 more, years ago.  I should not have stopped doing that, 800 meters twice a week when I was released from my rehabilitation.  I used to enjoy walking with my walker but something changed after doing so a few times?

Just being alive & able to work on myself sure beats the alternative.  I do have anxiety issues in large groups, talking on the phone to a stranger, or just meeting new people.  Anxiety is likely my biggest issue at the moment.  I tend to clam up in a group of roughly 10 or more people, even if I know them.

Oh, the Grammy Awards.  There is no reason to make any art a competition, but alas “….here we go again….”

A bitter sweet win for the deceased Soundgarden singer, Chris Cornell.  Other awards are listed as well.  “Greta Van Fleet” won best rock album for their 1st release of 2, 4 song EPs, sold as an 8 song album.  The really good album, not the one that’s just OK.

http://loudwire.com/chris-cornell-best-rock-performance-winner-2019-grammys/?fbclid=IwAR0_Pub2XdpwIM41gEbHSMefbbYrlRiBkeVkc2WG8IXrd-nePrgGmwmuv8k

I watched about 10 minutes of CNN on Monday.  They were talking about how great it was to have so many women winning awards, Alicia Keys hosting, & other women involved with the show.  That’s great & Alicia Keys hosting the show was FANTASTIC!  I’ve always thought she’s AWESOME!  As for being nominated, I don’t care what sex, race, or religion you are, I just want the best musician to be nominated & win an award.  If a woman or man wins, I just want the best nominee to win.

I agree any woman should have equal pay if a male is doing the same or similar job, I’m all for that.  I didn’t realize that the pay inequality was happening.  Equal pay should be a no brainer if you ask me!

Rock & metal music are far from dead, even though the Grammy Awards for those categories are not aired on TV.  How many Grammy awards has Lamb of God won?  Guess, I’ll wait……………………………..6 if not more.  The Grammy academy is of no use in promoting rock or metal with the awards for those categories.  “2 roads diverged in a yellow wood” if you want to make money you take the road most travelled.  If you want to attract possible fans to classical, rock, or metal you take the road less travelled.

There were 3 acts that REALLY caught my attention because they were SO good.  Janelle Monae, H.E.R., & Kacey Musgraves.

Carappé, I know the Saskatchewan Roughriders were in the hunt for him.

From what I can tell from “Big Wreck’s” Facebook page, they are nearing completion of their next album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Janelle Monae performed this song on the Grammy Awards.  I bought the album “Dirty Computer” on Tuesday.  She absolutely BLEW me away.  She’s like “Prince” 2.0!

The original cartoon was fantastic.  I’m anxious for the live action version!

ASCOT ROYALS   (More pop than rock)

I saw them open for “Big Wreck” in February 2017, AWESOME SHOW!  Unfortunately they never achieved success like I thought they might.  As soon as I got home I purchased their full album & their EP.  The EP was released a week before I saw them.  Another great band that didn’t make it big.

2017   NEW SKIN EP

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.  “Pretty Vicious”, “System of a Down”, “Foo Fighters”, & “Big Wreck

Friday ended with us going to bed at 9:30 pm.  I was tired & Kim was too.  I watched whatever was left on the PVR.  We had supper watched, “The Ellen Degeneres Show”, & called it a night.

Saturday I slept in.  Kim was up & cleaning the place.  I showered, got dressed, & got my butt in gear to help with the cleaning.  We had some company that evening for a small get together, we’re all old so 10:30 pm or so we called it a night!

Today will just be us getting ready for the week ahead.  Hard boil eggs, make a veggie juice, Kim has already done the grocery shopping.

Look at that!  The USA’s government is open (temporarily) without funding for the wall.  I think he should pay government employees out of his own pocket for all of the shutdown, remember he’s “really rich

THE REFRESHMENTS

I think I might be one of a handful of people that bought this album?  There are others, but I bought this on CD in the shortly after I saw a video on Much Music.  They’re probably best known for doing the theme song for the cartoon “King of the Hill”.  I have the album “Fizzy, Fuzzy, Big, & Buzzy” & I only saw this video 4 times I’m guessing?

WEEKLY EXERCISE TOTAL/FINE YOUNG CANNIBALS

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

5 days of exercise total; 400 pushups, 600 leg lifts, 300 crunches, 300 tricep lifts, 450 squats, 300 back flexes.

I fell asleep to “Third Ion” the album “Biolith”

I exercised to “Big Wreck” the album “Albatross”

All of this exercise is great n’ all, I do feel better exercising & with the change in my eating habits.  I think both of us need a break though.  Neither of us have really stopped for more than 2 weeks or so, once.

We don’t even have passports at the moment.  We could get them, but the question is, where would we go?  We can’t afford to go anywhere right now other than our neighboring provinces of Alberta or Manitoba.  I’m feeling less energetic & Kim is likely getting tired also.

We’re thinking of getting our passports for a trip in 2020 which will be our 15th wedding anniversary.  Not sure where we’ll go but it has to be wheelchair accessible.

This is a BIG part of what makes me feel like a “burden”.  Nobody has ever mentioned that I’m a burden.  On the flip side, everything must be as close to perfect for me in order to take a break & relax.  We’ll have to start saving our pennies now for a trip next year.

I know this entire cancer thing is not what anybody close to me signed up for, but it happened.  Cancer may have won the battle, but I won the war.  “…For a wounded man shall say to his assailant.  If I live I will kill you.  If I die you are forgiven.  Such is the rule of honour” – Lamb of God.  Likely, that statement won’t hold up in court though.

FINE YOUNG CANNIBALS – THE RAW & THE COOKED

My dad bought this album on CD the year it was released or shortly after 1988.  I saw this album at Vintage Vinyl in Regina’s downtown before I was diagnosed with cancer.  I had a terrible record player & didn’t buy it for $9.99.  Bad move on my part!  I called myself an idiot for not buying it, as did my younger loving brother who was with me at the time.

As with the majority of my albums, I can listen to this album in it’s entirety without skipping past a single song…

HILARIOUS impression, & what looks like a great movie!

There are 3 stupid things the Toronto Blue Jays organization could do this year.  Trade pitcher Marcus Stroman, trade pitcher Aaron Sanchez, & bring 1B Rowdy Tellez to the major league from the minors.  Stroman & Sanchez are both under contract control until the end of 2021.  Rowdy Tellez is a great infielder & hits right handed pitching like he knows the pitch he’s getting & where it will be.  Unfortunately he’s terrible against left handed pitchers, that’s his kryptonite.  He’s more than welcome to prove me wrong in spring training though!

The more you share this, the more readers I get.  No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.  I can’t tell who’s reading this but thank you!

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.

Metallica, Foo Fighters, Big Wreck, & Alter Bridge.

Friday, Kim picked up my prescription sun glasses on her way home!  No squinting for the first half of a Rider game or any road trips!

My toe feels much better as of Saturday afternoon, at the moment I don’t see a problem doing my exercises this week, unless I do something stupid to it this weekend (which is always a possibility!)

Saturday I slept in like I was on a mission.  I had breakfast for lunch, & made my veggie juice for the week.  Saturday night Kim had to do some work from home & told me I could watch a movie she’s not interested in seeing.  Hello “Venom”!

What a FANTASTIC movie.  He’s a Marvel Comics villain but is not included in the current Marvel Comic Universe aka he has nothing to do with any of the Avengers or character movies.

Quiet Sunday here.  Kim’s doing work from home stuff for about an hour & a half more, then pick up a few groceries.  She helped me hard boil the eggs for the week in our instant cooker.  I usually use a pot of water on the stove top, this was my 2nd time with the instant/pressure cooker.  I think she’s done the laundry, just her stuff to put away, I put my stuff away last night.  We’re almost ready for the week.

My toe might only factor in with the constant pressure while doing pushups?  I guess I’ll find out on Tuesday.

New Harley Quinn movie in production?  They just introduced her character in the TV series “Gotham” I think?  Her name wasn’t mentioned but the character looked a lot like Harley Quinn from the comic books.

HARRY CONNICK JR.

A jazz musician out of New Orleans.  Plays piano & sings, I’m guessing he can play multiple instruments?  He was born in 1967.  He’s won 3 Grammy awards & 2 Emmy awards for his role on ‘Will & Grace’, the original series, not the reboot.  He has also appeared in a handful of movies over the years.  He also has or had a daytime talk show.  I watched a few episodes, it was decent & a little different, I don’t watch it now & I’m not sure if it’s still on the air?

1990   WE ARE IN LOVE

1994   SHE

1999   COME BY ME

I have these albums & his 3 Christmas/Holiday albums.  One which has my favourite original Christmas song on it.

5 days of exercise total; 200 pushups, 600 leg lifts, 300 crunches, 300 tricep lifts, 300 squats, 300 back flexes.

I fell asleep to “Big Wreck” the album “In Loving Memory Of……”

I exercised to “Pantera” their “Greatest Hits”

Wednesday turned out to be quite lazy, after a fast & early morning.  The handle on the back of my wheelchair got fixed.  The guy had to take my chair to the shop though.  He said he’d be back within an hour.  Got my chair back a bit under 2 hours later.  I already had 2 liters of water, had to crawl to the washroom a couple of times.  All was fine but I bruised my big toe.  It was throbbing quite a bit Wednesday night.

That has temporarily slowed me down a bit.  No squats, pushups, or walking. Since Wednesday’s exercise was complete.  I really don’t like to cut back on anything, it’s frustrating.  I’d show you but I have no phone/camera & it’s really ugly!  I wanted to do a TON more walking with my walker this year, like 3 times a week at minimum.  We’ve only been walking 3 times so far this year.

In other news, Kim picked up my new glasses on her way home Wednesday.  I am now a slightly attractive, near sighted pirate.  All I’m missing is a peg leg & a hook.

Throughout all of this cancer garbage, I lost sight of what I was really easy for me before.  Remain humble, really appreciate all of the great people who care about me.

Foo Fighters, Metallica, Audioslave, & Tenacious D perform at Chris Cornell tribute show!

Well, I guess that’s one decade cancer free.  So I’m “…done, done.  On to the next one…..”

I always say I want to see any movie in the theater & it never happens!  I usually just buy the blu-ray.  Anyways, here’s the upcoming Spider-man movie.

I would have liked to see “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Venom”, “Aquaman”, “Avengers Infinity War”, “Ant-man & the Wasp”, & many more in the theater.  I’ll just buy them when they’re available.  I’ll watch a movie multiple times.  Example; Deadpool.  I’ve watched that movie a minimum of 15 times, & I’m not exaggerating at all.  Instant classic for me!  Out of that list I’m just missing “Bohemian Rhapsody” & “Aquaman”.  Could be much worse.

BRUNO MARS

I hear that he used to work as an Elvis impersonator & that’s how he started his musical career.  Don’t quote me on that, that’s hearsay news.  He was born October 8th, 1985, in Honolulu, & named Pete Gene Hernandez (thank you Google!).  He has released 3 albums, a single, & the song “Uptown Funk” on an album done by Mark Ronson.  He’s made a career of being very transparent as to what his influences are in his radio hits.  The Police, James Brown, Michael Jackson, etc.

2010    DOO-WOPS & HOOLIGANS

2012   UNORTHODOX JUKEBOX

2016   24K MAGIC

2018   SINGLE

2015   UPTOWN SPECIAL (MARK RONSON)

CARPOOL KARAOKE

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

When you think you’re going to have a quiet weekend & you get a late Saturday morning phone call from your mother saying your brother is in the hospital, about to have surgery for appendicitis.  All went well!

He’ll be fine but will stay there overnight and be released today.  I’d much prefer it to be me, then I wouldn’t worry as much.

HONORABLE MENTIONS (Really nothing bad about these albums)

Dead Sara – Temporary Things Taking up Space EP

If these songs were a part of a full album, it would easily be number 1 on my list

Dead Sara – Anybody “Acoustic” Single

Easily my favourite song of the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tesseract – Sonder

Alter Bridge – Live at The Royal Albert Hall

The stereo audio is not very good, you can barely hear the orchestra.  The surround mix on the blu-ray is MUCH better.

Pentatonix – Top Pop, Vol. 1

Tremonti – A Dying Machine

Chromeo – Head over Heels

Live EP – Local 717 EP

CONCERTS I SAW THIS YEAR

Big Wreck (Regina)

I Mother Earth & Finger 11 (Regina)

Queens of the Stone Age w/ Royal Blood opening (Calgary)

Comedian Jim Jeffries (Regina)

Foo Fighters (Calgary)

Comedian Craig Ferguson (Regina)

Boney M (Regina)

Usually I head up to Saskatoon to see Trivium on tour.  They skipped Saskatchewan completely this time.  Typical Canadian during a North American tour is, Montreal, Toronto, & maybe Vancouver now.  The fact that I got to see all of this stuff live is pretty cool.  Only had to go to Calgary to see Queens of the Stone Age with Royal Blood & Foo Fighters.

If I had to pick my favourite concerts of the year, Queens of the Stone Age & Boney M. would both take the win.  Could be that it was my first time seeing both bands live.  Boney M’s rhythm section was INCREDIBLE!!!!!!

Here’s what to expect in 2019.  Big Wreck, Alter Bridge, Anthrax, Devin Townsend, Dream Theater (already preordered for release Feb. 22), Megadeth, Tool, Lamb of God, Mark Morton (Lamb of God guitarist) preorder January 11, full release March 1st, Rob Zombie, Slipknot, Chevelle, & In Flames (preordered available January 11).  Likely more, that’s just off of the top of my head.

I’m really excited for the ‘In Flames’ album, full release March 1st.

A baseball player is offered more than what he asked for from his previous team as a free agent, $300,000,000 over 10 years.  More than that was offered & he turned it down.  He must really not like where he was, I doubt any other team will offer him $10,000,000 a year to play a game for a living?  Once he hits the age of 30 or shortly thereafter you see almost all players start to decline athletically.  The back end (the last 3-5 years) of $300,000,000 will be terrible if he gets that deal.
